LOS ANGELES -- Although the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings have one of the NHLs liveliest rivalries, the ice has been tilted decidedly toward the north in the past 14 months. Air Max Vendita Online .Particularly when the clubs meet down south at Staples Center, where the Sharks have made themselves at home.Logan Couture had two goals and an assist, Ryan Carpenter scored his first NHL goal and San Jose extended its recent mastery over the Kings with a 4-1 victory Wednesday night.Kevin Labanc also scored and Martin Jones made 26 saves against his former team in the Pacific Division-leading Sharks fifth win in six games. Couture and Carpenter scored 30 seconds apart in the final minute of the first period, and Los Angeles couldnt recover from that defensive lapse.Anytime we play LA, theres no speeches needed, San Jose coach Peter DeBoer said. We know its going to be a hard game, and our guys respond to the challenge. They also make themselves at home in downtown Los Angeles. The Sharks won at Staples Center for the sixth consecutive time, including three playoff victories last spring.San Jose ousted the Kings in the first round on the way to the Stanley Cup Final, and the Sharks control over their oldest rival has continued this fall with two regular season victories. They play tough in this building, Couture said. They come out with energy. Theyre physical. Theyre big. Theyre strong. Theyre difficult to play against, (but) this is how we played last year down the stretch and into the playoffs. We get up on teams, (and) its tough for teams to come back. We defend well, and (Jones) makes big saves and we walk out with the win.Couture, who sharply criticized the Kings and Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Drew Doughty last year after their playoff series ended, added an empty-net goal. He has only two multipoint games this year -- and both were against the Kings.Doughty tried and failed to keep Coutures late clearance from settling in the Kings empty net.I saw the replay and got a little chuckle out of it, Couture said. Hes a special player, a guy I see all the time in the summer. Its always fun to play the best players in the world, and its fun we get to play him all the time.Dustin Brown scored for the Kings, whose five-game winning streak ended with another frustrating night against their upstate rivals. Peter Budaj stopped 20 shots in Los Angeles first home loss in seven games since Nov. 1.We know theyre a good team, Gaborik said. It was a tight game out there at times, but they had a few odd-man rushes which we normally dont give up. Hopefully our game will get better and better. After Labanc converted Coutures pass on a 2-on-1 break to open the scoring, Couture got his team-leading eighth goal in the final minute of the Sharks three-goal first period.Carpenter, an AHL All-Star last season while leading San Joses top affiliate in scoring, found the net in his fourth NHL game over two seasons -- although Budaj probably should have stopped the shot between his legs.Joel Ward had two assists in the sequence for the Sharks.Brown finally got the Kings on the board early in the second period, roofing a rebound of Gaboriks shot during a power play for his fourth goal.Game notes Gaborik played his second game of the season and got his first regular season point since Feb. 12. INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers could have their backup point guard position shored up as coach Tyronn Lue expects Iman Shumpert and Kay Felder to play Friday after both experienced concussion-like symptoms this week.Felder was placed in the leagues concussion protocol after taking an errant Chris Andersen elbow to the head in practice last week and is now fully cleared. Shumpert hit his head against Kristaps Porzingis hip late in the Cavs 117-88 season-opening win over the New York Knicks and had to exit the game.Shumpert remains in the protocol but has made progress, according to the team. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — In a story Aug. 17 about the first game of a doubleheader between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies http://www.stlouiscardinalsteamshop.com/authentic-steve-carlton-jersey , The Associated Press reported erroneously that the Mets broke a franchise record for runs set on Aug. 16, 2017, during their 24-4 win over the Phillies. The Mets’ previous record for runs of 23 was set on Aug. 16, 1987, against Chicago Cubs.A corrected version of the story is below:Hoskins homers again, Phillies beat Mets 9-6 to earn splitRhys Hoskins hit a three-run homer, Scott Kingery had a solo shot and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 9-6 to earn a doubleheader spitBy ROB MAADDIAP Sports WriterPHILADELPHIA (AP) — Rhys Hoskins erased an ugly start with one big swing.Hoskins hit a three-run homer, Scott Kingery had a solo shot and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 9-6 on Thursday night to split their doubleheader. In the first game, Jose Bautista hit a grand slam and had a career-high seven RBIs as the Mets set a franchise record for runs, prompting the Phillies to use two position players to pitch the final three innings of a 24-4 rout.Philadelphia manager Gabe Kapler defended the decision to use Roman Quinn and Kingery on the mound in the opener and took plenty of heat from fans and media on social media. His players backed him up.“You trust Gabe,” Hoskins said. “It’s worked. We don’t see any madness in his method.”The Phillies moved within 1½ games of NL East-leading Atlanta. The Mets began the nightcap with three straight doubles on Zach Eflin’s first four pitches. Michael Conforto’s two-run double made it 2-0.But then Hoskins crushed one high off the foul pole to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead in the bottom half against Steven Matz (5-10), just activated from the disabled list. Hoskins, who went deep in both ends of the twinbill, has 11 of his 25 homers since the All-Star break — and three in the last four games.“Rhys set the tone,” Kapler said. “We’re not down for long. We can take a punch and come out swinging.”The Phillies added three runs in the second. Kingery homered, Wilson Ramos had an RBI single and Cesar Hernandez swiped home on a double steal.Eflin (9-4) gave up four runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. Seranthony Dominguez got the last two outs.“I was in a funk the whole night and didn’t have my best command, but my slider saved me Paul DeJong Jersey ,” Eflin said.In the opener, Corey Oswalt (2-2) allowed four solo homers in six innings, Amed Rosario hit a leadoff homer and had three RBIs and the Mets took advantage of four errors to score 11 unearned runs.Even reliever Jerry Blevins got his first career hit, a line-drive RBI single off Kingery.“There’s nothing better,” Blevins said. “It’s something you dream about as a kid. When I tell the story, I’ll say I turned around a 95 (mph fastball). It’s pretty awesome.”The Mets scored more than 15 runs in consecutive games for the first time in franchise history. They beat Baltimore 16-5 Wednesday night.Hoskins, Maikel Franco, Nick Williams and Jorge Alfaro went deep for the Phillies.Quinn, the team’s fourth outfielder, gave up a homer to Conforto on his second pitch — a 79 mph fastball. Quinn got five outs, gave up seven runs and threw 42 pitches. Kingery went the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs.Mets right fielder Brandon Nimmo left the game after injuring his left index finger hitting a grounder to third base with two outs and the bases loaded in the third. Nimmo fell to the ground as the ball rolled to Franco, who was late tagging third but threw to first to easily get the out.X-rays on Nimmo’s finger were negative and he said he’ll have an MRI on Friday. Bautista replaced him.“I just said, ‘Oh, crud,'” Nimmo said. “It hit my knuckle.”Phillies starter Ranger Suarez (1-1) gave up eight runs — four earned — and 11 hits in four innings. Mark Leiter Jr. allowed seven unearned runs and four hits in one inning. After Alfaro’s shot cut it to 5-4, the Mets broke loose for a 10-run fifth. Suarez balked in a run and exited after Bautista followed with an RBI single. Another run scored on Alfaro’s throwing error on Oswalt’s sacrifice, and Rosario drove one in on a fielder’s choice grounder.Hoskins then dropped Austin Jackson’s two-out fly ball for an error lex Reyes Jersey , and another run scored. After Wilmer Flores’ RBI single, Bautista connected for his 10th homer. Bautista had a chance to hit another slam when he faced Quinn in the eighth but walked on a 3-2 pitch over his head. Bautista added an RBI double off Kingery.RUN BARRAGEThe Mets’ previous record was 23 runs at the Cubs on Aug. 16, 1987.DOMINATING PHILLYThe Mets are 42-19 over their past 61 games at Citizens Bank Park since 2012.GOING DEEPBautista has 13 seasons of double-digit homers since 2005. ST. LOUIS (AP) — Koda Glover rewarded his manager’s faith.Bryce Harper had three hits and drove in three runs, Glover earned the save in the first opportunity since Ryan Madson was placed on the disabled list, and the Washington Nationals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night. The Nationals won for just the third time in their last 10 games and snapped the Cardinals’ season-high, eight-game winning streak.“We needed a win today,” Nationals manager Dave Martinez said. “Get on that plane, have a nice happy flight and come back tomorrow and be at home and be ready.”Tanner Roark (8-12) gave up four runs, three earned, in six innings.A beleaguered bullpen that had blown two leads to start the losing streak took care of the rest. Justin Miller pitched two scoreless innings before Glover closed it out.“There’s been a lot of changes (in the bullpen),” Miller said. “It’s unfortunate, a couple of injuries and stuff like that, but I don’t really look at it as I’ve got the seventh or eighth or anything like that. I’m just going out there just trying to do my job.”Glover took the loss in the series opener on Monday, giving up a game-ending homer to Paul DeJong.“The first game of the series didn’t go as I would have liked for it to have went Evan Longoria Jersey ,” Glover said. “So to get put back in that situation or even a better situation to get a save, I’m happy with that outcome.”Harper drove in the game’s first run with a double in the first and knocked in two more with a bases-loaded single in the fourth to give the Nationals a 4-1 lead.A pair of errors helped the Nationals extend their lead to 5-1 in the fifth. St. Louis committed three errors in the game after committing just four total errors during the winning streak.“A couple plays clearly we expect to make and will make and just didn’t go our way for a little bit there,” Cardinals interim manager Mike Shildt said. “To the guys’ credit they regrouped, settled down, and started playing back to the baseball they know they can play.”The Nationals had opportunities to pad the lead, leaving the bases loaded in the third and fifth while stranding nine runners in the first five innings.“When you have an opportunity to put teams away you’ve got to do that,” Martinez said. “Especially with how hot the Cardinals are playing right now. They’re going to come back.”The Cardinals got within one in the sixth. After DeJong and Kolten Wong came up with back-to-back, two-out RBI hits, Harrison Bader hit a slow grounder to third. Anthony Rendon’s throw to first got away from Ryan Zimmerman for an error, allowing Wong to score from second to cut the Nationals’ lead to 5-4.Just two of the four runs Luke Weaver (6-11) allowed in his 3 2/3 innings were earned. He gave up seven hits, including two to Roark, who scored both times.Tyson Ross allowed one unearned run in 3 1/3 innings of relief.Bader homered in the third and Matt Carpenter walked twice to extend his on-base streak to a career-high 34 games.TRAINING ROOMNationals: RHP Jeremy Hellickson will have an MRI on his sore right wrist on Friday. He’s very special.” Eovaldi is 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts with Boston since being acquired from the Rays on July 25. NEW YORK — Rhys Hoskins‘ tie-breaking homer in the eighth inning Friday night provided a jolt to the National League Cy Young Award hopes of Philadelphia Phillies teammate Aaron Nola. On Saturday, the Phillies will find out if Hoskins’ blast had a longer-reaching impact. The Phillies will look to lock up their first series win in a month when they play the New York Mets in the middle game of a three-game series at Citi Field. Noah Syndergaard (10-3, 3.33 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for New York against Philadelphia’s Zach Eflin (9-6, 4.05) in a battle of right-handers.Hoskins’ homer on Friday provided the final run in the Phillies’ 4-3 victory and lifted Nola to his 16th win, which ties him with the Washington Nationals’ Max Scherzer for the most in the NL.Article continues below ...Nola is in a three-way battle for the Cy Young Award with Scherzer http://www.philliesfanproshop.com/authentic-greg-luzinski-jersey , the two-time defending winner, and the Mets’ Jacob deGrom, who leads the league with a 1.68 ERA. Scherzer and Nola rank second and third at 2.28 and 2.29, respectively. Before Hoskins snapped an 0-for-14 skid with his blast, Nola was in danger of allowing three runs or fewer yet not getting a win for the 11th time in 29 starts this season.“He’s had some tough ones,” Hoskins said afterward. “It’s always good to pick up a teammate, no matter who it is.”The homer also helped the Phillies (74-66) pick up ground on the first-place Atlanta Braves in the NL East. Philadelphia, which has lost eight series and split another since sweeping the Miami Marlins from Aug. 2-5, is 2 1/2 games behind the Braves, who lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday night.“Cy Young race, the whole drama and everything that’s going on, game in a playoff chase with so much on the line,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said. “It was huge for Rhys and obviously huge for Nola and huge for all of us to get that, collectively.”The Mets (63-77) have long been out of the playoff race Mike Schmidt Jersey , but facing Nola and the Phillies this weekend gives them multiple chances to play the role of spoiler. DeGrom, who is just 8-8 despite his minuscule ERA, is in line to start the series finale Sunday afternoon. While the Mets could not deny Nola the win Friday, manager Mickey Callaway took solace in denting his ERA ever so slightly and acknowledged he sensed a renewed energy by players hoping to help out deGrom.“I thought getting three runs off of him, hitting a couple homers off of him — not too many teams are scoring three runs off of him, indicated by his ERA,” Callaway said. “(The Cy Young Award race) definitely comes into play. I think you want to go out there and win every night, but certain circumstances definitely enter your mind when they’re there.”Syndergaard looked like a Cy Young Award contender himself in his most recent start last Sunday, when he threw the first complete game of his career in the Mets’ 4-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. The 26-year-old allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out 11 in the 114-pitch effort.Syndergaard is 4-2 with a 2.60 ERA in eight career starts against the Phillies. I didn’t have that putaway pitch today. I thought I had good stuff. The location wasn’t there.”Giants infielder Chase d’Arnaud worked a scoreless eighth in his first career pitching appearance.Suarez’s career-best 27th homer made it 6-1 in the third. Scooter Gennett hit a two-run triple before Suarez’s drive to center.Curt Casali also had two hits and drove in two runs in Cincinnati’s big inning.“It was an awesome inning,” Casali said. “I’m sure I’ve had two hits in an inning at some point in my career, but not in the big leagues. Any time you put up a crooked number against a club like that Paul Konerko Jersey , it’s important.”Reds right-hander Luis Castillo (7-10) struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings. He was charged with three runs, one earned, and six hits.“Everything was working for me today,” Castillo said. “I was commanding my changeup. My slider was good and I was throwing strikes. I think, like last year, I’m able to throw my pitches in any situation.”Castillo retired 13 straight batters before Stephen Duggar’s two-out single in the seventh.“You look at his velocity,” Bochy said, “I don’t know of anybody in the National League who throws harder on average http://www.whitesoxfanproshop.com/authentic-carlos-rodon-jersey , and his changeup was biting. He was on top of his game.”Peraza finished with three hits as Cincinnati closed out a 5-4 homestand. Phillip Ervin had two hits and scored a run.NEW LOOKBrandon Belt became the first first baseman to lead off for the Giants since David Bell on July 6, 2002, at Arizona. Belt went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.NEW FACEAristides Aquino made his major league debut when he ran for Gennett in the sixth inning. HOUSTON — With the “opener” gambit now influencing postseason strategies in Oakland and Milwaukee Jorge De La Rosa Jersey , the pitching matchup for Game 1 of the American League Division Series between the Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros represents a throwback in this era of bullpening. The Indians and Astros will turn to tried-and-true aces aiming to gain an early edge in the series on Friday at Minute Maid Park. Right-handers Corey Kluber (20-7, 2.89 ERA) and Justin Verlander (16-9, 2.52 ERA) have combined for 16 200-inning and 13 200-strikeout seasons, 10 All-Star Game appearances, three Cy Young awards, and two ERA titles, with Verlander adding a Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player award, plus a pitching triple crown, to the mix.If Verlander doesn’t earn his second Cy Young award this season, he is assured of finishing in the top five in balloting for the sixth time. Kluber finished third in 2016, two seasons after winning his first Cy Young award and one year before claiming his second. By every definition, they are workhorses charged with setting the tone in a postseason series. That both have been here before enhances expectations of something riveting unfolding when they work in opposition.Article continues below ...“Well, as far as Klub goes, we love it,” Indians manager Terry Francona said of relying upon a traditional ace. “I’m sure they feel the same way with Verlander. I think, as an organization or a team, you do what you think puts you in the best position. If that’s to have an opener http://www.diamondbacksfanproshop.com/authentic-taijuan-walker-jersey , OK. But I know how we feel with Kluber pitching, and it’s good and he’s earned that. Same with Verlander.”Verlander, having made 90.7 percent of his 419 regular-season starts for the Detroit Tigers, is intimately familiar with his former division rival. Cleveland is the only team from the American League Central against whom Verlander owns a losing record (20-24, 4.71 ERA over 52 starts).Unlike Kluber, who finished 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA over two starts against the Astros this season, Verlander did not crossmatch against the Indians, making starts immediately prior to the series the teams contested in May. Verlander has tweaked his pitch usage since joining the Astros late last season and is confident those changes should mitigate any concerns over his spotty record.“I’ve changed a lot. Their lineup has changed,” said Verlander, 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA over five September starts. “It will be interesting to see what happens. I just am taking this, preparing for it as much as I can and know what to expect in a playoff atmosphere, know what to expect out of myself. When it comes down to it, I just need to go out there and execute pitches.”Kluber (4-2, 3.54 ERA) and Verlander (11-6, 3.07 ERA) have proven capable of executing in the postseason, reliability that undergirds the decisions to utilize both with stakes this high. In some corners, a steady stream of relievers might suffice. With Cleveland and Houston Jarrod Dyson Jersey , tradition rules.“Whether your personnel fits — you can’t have an overriding philosophy,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. “I love starters. Why? Because I’ve got good ones. I think that’s the easiest way to fall in love with a rotation and have that mindset do I want my starters to go deep in the game.“Yeah, they’re good. If not, then I’ve got to have a contingency plan and it becomes a bullpen day very quickly if you fall behind or if the starter is not at his best.” Friday night’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium should be sponsored by the letter K, because there figures to be more than a few strikeouts. If young right-handers Walker Buehler of the Dodgers and Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals pitch on Friday as they did Aug. 22 when they faced each other at Chavez Ravine, runs and solid contact might be at a premium in a game dripping with pennant-race pressure.Buehler (6-5, 3.09 ERA) fired seven shutout innings in that game against the Cardinals last month, permitting just three hits and two walks while whiffing nine. Flaherty (8-6, 2.92) owned a no-hitter until Joc Pederson cracked a solo homer with one out in the bottom of the sixth. It was the only hit Flaherty, who walked two and fanned 10, allowed in six innings.Article continues below ...Los Angeles’ bullpen gave it up in the last two innings that night. Tyler O’Neill clouted a pinch-homer off Scott Alexander in the eighth and Paul DeJong drilled a tie-breaking two-run shot off Kenley Jansen in the ninth to give St. Louis a 3-1 win that polished off a series sweep. The Cardinals (81-66) lead the Dodgers (80-67) by one game in the race for the National League’s second wild-card spot, thanks to Los Angeles’ 9-7 win Thursday night. The Dodgers led wire-to-wire, including 8-1 at one point, yet couldn’t really exhale until Matt Adams grounded out to first as the potential tying run to end the game.Manny Machado starred for Los Angeles with three hits, including a double and his 34th homer of the year in the seventh inning.“I just tried to go up there and be myself, have quality at-bats,” Machado said to Sportsnet LA. “Every out ttp://www.diamondbacksfanproshop.com/authentic-brad-boxberger-jersey , every pitch from now on counts. One play can turn things around, so we have to be on top of it. We did everything we needed to do today.”The Dodgers, who at times have experienced terrible difficulties hitting with runners in scoring position over the last month, set the game’s tone with a great at-bat in that situation in the first inning. David Freese taxed rookie left-hander Austin Gomber for 14 pitches, fouling off nine of them, before lacing a two-run triple down the left-field line.Freese, who gets cheered during every at-bat in St. Louis because he was the 2011 World Series Most Valuable Player for the Cardinals, was acquired just before the Aug. 31 waiver deadline from Pittsburgh.“It’s always great coming back here and seeing the fans,” Freese said. “I’m excited to be a part of this. I’m on the back end of my career, sitting at 35 years old.”One of Freese’s former Cardinals teammates made his way back into the lineup Thursday night for this big series. All-Star catcher Yadier Molina (hamstring) missed six games, and probably isn’t 100 percent, but St. Louis wanted him back in there. The Cardinals plan for him to catch every game in the series except for Saturday, which is a 12:05 p.m. start after the Friday night game.“He’s very confident he can regulate himself in what he’s doing so not to have a setback, which we clearly don’t need,” St. Louis manager Mike Shildt said of Molina.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Stephen Strasburg made all the necessary adjustments. The right-hander threw six effective innings http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/d.j.-swearinger-jersey , Matt Wieters hit a solo homer and the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 Monday night.Strasburg (7-7) gave up two runs and five hits, striking out five to rebound from a rough start against Philadelphia last week in his return from the disabled list.“So many little things hitters try to pick, so you always have to look at the tendencies,” Strasburg said. “It was progress.”The Phillies fell 3 1/2 games behind first-place Atlanta in the NL East after losing the opener for the seventh straight series. They’re 6-12 since Aug. 8 and have dropped five games in the standings during that span.Zach Eflin (9-5) allowed five runs — three earned — and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. His throwing error in the fourth cost him.The Nationals had the bases loaded with one out that inning when Strasburg put a bunt down. Eflin picked it up barehanded and his underhand toss to the plate sailed high for an error, allowing the go-ahead run to score.Adam Eaton followed with a slow roller to the same spot and Eflin made the exact same play and got the out at home.Trea Turner then knocked in another run on a bloop single that fell in because left fielder Rhys Hoskins broke back at first.“We gave them additional outs and you can’t do that against this team,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said.Eaton greeted reliever Luis Avilan with an RBI double in the sixth to make it 5-2.Hoskins crushed Ryan Madson’s first pitch in the eighth for his 27th homer.Justin Miller tossed a perfect ninth for his first save in his first try in his 39th appearance.“He comes in and brings so much energy on the mound,” Strasburg said. “The hard work pays off.”Washington took two of three from the Phillies at home last week after trading Daniel Murphy to the Cubs and Matt Adams to the Cardinals.Down 2-0 in the third, the Phillies tied it on an RBI triple by Roman Quinn and an RBI single by Cesar Hernandez. Strasburg struck out Asdrubal Cabrera swinging to strand runners at second and third.Eflin retired the first two batters before Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto hit three straight singles in the first to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.Wieters led off the second with his sixth homer to make it 2-0. He said he was using a new bat after realizing the one he used the past few games was cracked.Strasburg allowed five runs and seven hits over four innings in Washington’s 8-7 win against Philadelphia last Wednesday.“He was able to locate his fastball David Price Jersey , throw a high fastball, and made corrections since the last start,” Wieters said.BOOING THE BUFFALOWilson Ramos was thrown out trying to go first to third on Cabrera’s single to right and heard boos from Phillies fans even though he is playing hurt. Ramos recently returned from a hamstring injury and isn’t healthy enough to do more than jog, but he’s Philadelphia’s cleanup hitter and wants to be in the lineup to help the team chase a playoff spot.“He’s playing through a lot,” Kapler said. “He’s a guy who gives everything he has and he showed a lot of toughness.”NEW MAN ON TOPQuinn led off for the first time and Hernandez batted third for just the third time in 641 career games.TRAINER’S ROOMNationals: RHP Kelvin Herrera was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a torn Lisfranc ligament in his left foot. Nola tossed eight innings in Philadelphia’s 2-0 win at Washington last Thursday. MIAMI (AP) — For a last-place team down to its last hitter on the bench, this was a win worth celebrating.Pinch-hitter Bryan Holaday hit an RBI single in the 11th inning and the Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets 4-3 Saturday night for just their second victory in 11 games.“This is something that we needed http://www.redsoxproshops.com/authentic-mookie-betts-jersey ,” Holaday said. “It’s tough when you’re not winning games so a win like this can spark us and makes it a lot better in the locker room. Everybody is able to celebrate a win.”Miguel Rojas led off the 11th with a single against Jacob Rhame (0-2) and moved up on Magneuris Sierra’s sacrifice. Holaday followed with a groundball past third baseman Todd Frazier that easily scored Rojas.“That last pitch right there, just a slider that stayed over the middle of the plate and Holaday was able to hook it down the line,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said.It was Holaday’s second walkoff hit of the season and of his career, and the eighth walkoff victory for the Marlins.“It’s great,” Holaday said. “It’s the best feeling in the world.”Holaday was the last hitter off the bench for the Marlins, who were down to one available reliever.“That was good,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “We were running out of bullets there.”The Marlins improved to 7-4 in extra innings with all 11 game at home.“Hey, let’s go extras tomorrow then,” Mattingly said.Holaday batted for Javy Guerra (1-0) Brock Holt Jersey , who pitched the 11th.Miami loaded the bases in the eighth with one out, but was unable to score. Brandon Nimmo grounded out in the Mets 10th, leaving runners stranded on first and second. The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs in the fourth on a bases-clearing double by Frazier.Miami responded in the fourth with a two-run single by Martin Prado. LOS ANGELES — As pitching matchups go Rickey Henderson Jersey , it would be hard to tilt the scales any more in one direction than they will be when the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Saturday evening in Los Angeles. The Padres will go with right-hander Brett Kennedy and his three career starts. The Dodgers will counter with Clayton Kershaw and his three Cy Young Awards.Kennedy (0-2, 8.36 ERA) has yet to win his first major league game, although he finally looks to be getting comfortable with his surroundings. After getting crushed for a combined 11 runs on 20 hits over his first two big league starts, Kennedy held the Arizona Diamondbacks to two runs on six hits over five innings Sunday.Article continues below ...Without a blazing fastball to work with, Kennedy has to rely on pinpoint control. Even though he was better in his start against the Diamondbacks, he did issue three walks. He will now face a Dodgers team that typically is disciplined when it comes to the strike zone.“He definitely threw the ball better; I thought his secondary stuff was better last time out,” Padres manager Andy Green said about Kennedy. “(The Dodgers) team will be a real challenge for him. They will load (the lineup) down with lefties and he’s going to have to execute to pitch well against them. I look forward to him rising up to meet that challenge, but it takes a while for some guys to get their footing in the big leagues and he’s starting to find it.”Pitching opposite Kershaw could present an intimidation factor http://www.padresfanproshop.com/authentic-ozzie-smith-jersey , although Kennedy already has dealt with pitching against an ace. Zack Greinke was the Diamondbacks’ pitcher when Kennedy last took the mound.Meeting Kershaw at Dodger Stadium, though, is a different level entirely. And Kershaw (6-5, 2.40) has been as good as ever lately, going unbeaten over his last five starts with a 1.82 ERA over 34 2/3 innings in that stretch.Kershaw last lost a game on July 21, and even then he gave up just one earned run. The defense let him down to the tune of three unearned runs that day against the Brewers. Since June 23, when Kershaw returned from his second stint on the disabled list, he is 5-1 with a 2.14 ERA.Add to the mix an increased sense of urgency from Kershaw and the Padres figure to be in a tough spot Saturday.“I don’t know how many games we’ve got left Cory Spangenberg Jersey , but it’s now or never,” Kershaw said, according to mlb.com. “We better start playing, we better get good.”Kershaw is 18-6 with a 1.89 ERA in 33 career starts against San Diego, and he pitched six scoreless innings in his only start against the Padres this season. The Dodgers’ inconsistent offense roared back to life Friday in an 11-1 victory over the Padres, with Chris Taylor, Justin Turner and Max Muncy hitting home runs. Muncy moved one home run away from No. 30 on the season. The victory helped the Dodgers gain a game on the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks as they moved 3 1/2 games out of the division’s top spot. The Dodgers also moved 2 1/2 games behind the second-place Colorado Rockies. OAKLAND, Calif. — The top two teams in the American League wild-card race meet in a possible postseason preview when the New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics hook up in a three-game series starting with a holiday matinee Monday afternoon.San Francisco Bay Area native CC Sabathia (7-5 http://www.padresfanproshop.com/authentic-eric-hosmer-jersey , 3.36 ERA) of the Yankees and fellow 30-something Trevor Cahill (5-3, 3.60) of the A’s draw the starting assignments in the opener of a series that could go a long way toward determining who hosts the AL wild-card game in October. The Yankees (86-51) will take the field with a 4 1/2-game lead over the A’s (82-56) for the top AL wild-card spot with four weeks remaining in the regular season.Article continues below ...New York took two of three from Oakland in an earlier series in May in which neither Sabathia nor Cahill pitched. The A’s blew a 6-2 lead and lost 7-6 in 11 innings in the turning point of the series after having won the opener 10-5.While the A’s were splitting a key four-game series against the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees on Sunday were completing a disappointing 3-4 homestand against the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers.Sabathia pitched one of the losses, allowing three runs and five hits in six innings in a 4-1 loss to the White Sox on Wednesday. The 38-year-old, who attended the same high school (Vallejo High, about 30 miles north of Oakland) as Coney Island hot dog-eating legend Joey Chestnut, has started 31 games in his career against the A’s, going 11-11 with a 4.55 ERA.He hasn’t often been at his best in his homecomings http://www.padresfanproshop.com/authentic-jose-pirela-jersey , going 5-7 with a 5.20 ERA in 16 starts. The Yankees will feature a different look than when the A’s saw them last with the recent acquisition of Andrew McCutchen from the San Francisco Giants.McCutchen has yet to get a hit in two games since joining New York, going 0-for-7.While they await the return of injured stars Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius and Aroldis Chapman, the Yankees will get one familiar face back in pinstripes Monday when manager Aaron Boone returns from a one-game suspension that resulted from a tirade against umpire Nic Lentz in Friday’s win over the Tigers.Cahill has never beaten the Yankees in his career, going 0-4 in six meetings, including five starts. Before watching Sunday’s 11-7 loss to Detroit from a suite, Boone noted that he’s expecting to see way more than just a starting pitcher when facing the A’s.“They’ve really bolstered their bullpen. It’s a pen that can shorten games,” Boone said of the recent additions of Fernando Rodney and Jeurys Familia to complement standout Blake Treinen. “They’ve (also) got some young players kind of take that step into stardom a little bit. We know we got our hands full.”The A’s got six solid innings from starter Edwin Jackson in Sunday’s 8-2 win over the Mariners that pushed Seattle 5 1/2 games back in the race for the second AL wild-card spot.A’s manager Bob Melvin was happy his club was able to take care of business against the Mariners http://www.giantsfanproshop.com/authentic-austin-jackson-jersey , responding to losses Thursday and Saturday with wins Friday and Sunday, with the Yankees headed to town.“Certain times a split feels a little bit better than others,” he said. “This was one of them.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Nationals hope veteran reliever Greg Holland can return to form and use his postseason experience to help Washington make a playoff run of its own.Holland has appeared in 12 postseason games Giancarlo Stanton Jersey , including the 2014 World Series with Kansas City. That, along with his 186 career saves, was more important to Washington than the 7.92 ERA he had with St. Louis before being designated for assignment on July 27.A day after the right-hander worked out with Washington, the Nationals announced his signing on Tuesday before facing the Atlanta Braves in a split doubleheader.“He’s a veteran guy that’s been around and pitched in high-level situations, pitched a World Series,” Nationals manager Dave Martinez said. “If he’s healthy, and we think he is http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-derek-jeter-jersey , he’s going to help us.”A three-time All-Star with 186 career saves, Holland initially will be used in the sixth or seventh innings by the Nationals.“He knows how to get outs in big situations. That’s what we like about him,” Martinez said. “He will fit well in our bullpen and in our clubhouse.”Holland is 21-20 with 186 saves and a 2.93 ERA across parts of eight seasons with the Royals, Colorado Rockies and Cardinals. He had 47 saves last year with Colorado and signed a $14 million deal with St. Louis during the offseason before coming out flat in 2018.He hopes the switch to a new team with bring about a change in fortune.“It hadn’t went well. Sometimes that happens,” Holland said. “People struggle sometimes. I’m excited. Kind of a fresh start on a new team, and helping this club getting where it wants to go.”Washington started the day in third place in the NL East, 5½ games behind division-leading Philadelphia. To make room for Holland Alex Rodriguez Jersey , the Nationals optioned right-hander Jimmy Cordero to Triple-A Syracuse. NEW YORK — When they left Yankee Stadium for a cross-country flight to Oakland following a tedious 11-7 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the New York Yankees held a decent amount of comfort in the wild-card race. Now they come back still occupying the lead in the wild-card race but hardly with a comfortable lead.Heading into the opener of a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics.Article continues below ...The Yankees are returning from a middling 4-5 nine-game trip through Oakland, Seattle and Minnesota. The uneven trip followed a disappointing 3-4 showing in a seven-game home stand against the Chicago White Sox and Tigers.“We know what’s at stake,” Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton said. “We know what we need to do. It’s not an ideal today or a trip. We know what we need to do. We’re going to come out on Friday and get it done.”By going 7-9 in their last 16 games, the Yankees have gone from 4 1/2 up on Oakland to hardly assured of hosting the one-game playoff on Oct. 3.Going back further, when the Yankees fell 9 1/2 out in the AL East after being swept by the Red Sox Mariano Rivera Jersey , they were 2 1/2 up and while they gained two games on the A’s, they were not able to shake their pesky challenger. While the Yankees scored enough in their last homestand at times, they did not hit well for most of the trip. They were no-hit until the eighth when Greg Bird ended Jake Odorizzi’s no-hit bid and were held to two hits in Wednesday’s 3-1 loss at Minnesota.During the trip, the Yankees scored 33 runs while batting .198 (56-for-283) while striking out 75 times. With runners in scoring position, New York batted and hit .169 (10-for-59).“We have the equipment in that room to be the club we expect to be. Baseball will punch you in the mouth every now and then,” Boone said. “We are clearly facing a little bit of adversity right now and we will be better for it. I expect us to come out Friday ready to turn the page.”Stanton, who was rested in the last home game http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-babe-ruth-jersey , was 4-for-34 with 16 strikeouts on the trip. Gary Sanchez was 5-for-27 on the trip with three of those hits in a 7-2 Monday, Didi Gregorius is 3-for-15 since returning from a heel injury and Aaron Hicks went 3-for-27 on the trip.At least the Yankees can say good things may be happening on the injury front. Sanchez and Gregorius recently returned and Aaron Judge along with Aroldis Chapman appear close to returning.Judge took regular batting practice on the field before Wednesday’s game and could get into a simulated game soon. Since he fractured his right wrist on July 26, the Yankees are 25-20.Chapman has been out since Aug. 22 with tendinitis in his right knee but threw a bullpen session Wednesday in Tampa and could get into a simulated game if another bullpen session goes well.Masahiro Tanaka will start the opener and seeks his 12th win after allowing three hits and striking out 10 in eight scoreless innings last Friday in Seattle. It marked the eighth time in 10 starts he allowed two earned runs or less.Tanaka is 10-4 with a 2.86 ERA in 16 starts against Toronto, which is the only opponent he owns 10 wins against. His last appearance against the Blue Jays in New York was Sept. 29, when he fanned 15 in seven innings of a 4-0 win.The Blue Jays (65-81) didn’t help the Yankees by losing three straight at Fenway Park, lowering the Yankees magic number for elimination in the AL East to six. The Blue Jays lost for the eighth time in 12 games when second baseman Yangervis Solarte committed a fielding error in the eighth inning of Thursday’s 4-3 loss. The next loss will clinch Toronto’s second straight losing season and they head into New York hoping to see what they have in players like Rowdy Tellez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Gurriel homered and is hitting .284 in 55 games while Tellez is 9-for-22 (.409) in his first eight games.“(Playing at Fenway) has been good for them and when we go into Yankee Stadium that’s going to help them,” Toronto manager John Gibbons said. “Whether they start here next year or when they make it. Next time they go in there at least play one game there. It helps. People get in awe of these places. I still do. I think that definitely helps.”Marco Estrada starts for Toronto and hopes to end a three-game winless streak. Since beating Baltimore Aug. 20 Lou Gehrig Jersey , he is 0-2 with a 9.49 ERA, though he allowed two runs in six innings in a no-decision last Friday against Cleveland.Estrada is 7-3 with an 8.15 ERA in 18 appearances (17 starts) against the Yankees. The Yankees have won 12 of the first 16 meetings with Toronto and six of seven at Yankee Stadium.

BOSTON (AP) — Alex Cora knows first-hand the way things change in October. That’s why the Boston Red Sox manager wants to keep everything the same for his club.Routine served Boston well during the regular season. Under their rookie skipper Steven Wright Jersey , the Red Sox posted a franchise-best 108 wins and secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They will enter the American League Division Series on Friday with two AL MVP candidates in Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez, plus Cy Young Award candidate Chris Sale and former Cy Young winners David Price and Rick Porcello — both coming off solid regular seasons. The Red Sox won’t have an ALDS opponent until Wednesday when the Yankees host the Athletics in the wild-card game. Cora said the team will gather for dinner that night and watch together. Other than that, their preparations will be the same — from meetings, to batting practices, to bullpen sessions.“That’s why I feel they’re gonna be fine, because nothing’s gonna change,” Cora said.Boston is coming off consecutive first-round postseason exits, winning just one game in those two series.Cora was an assistant coach with the Houston Astros last year when they opened the ALDS against Boston with back-to-back 8-2 victories on their way to a 3-1 series win and eventual World Series title.“It’s always good to have the last at-bat if you are down — no doubt about it,” Cora said of the benefits of opening at home. “We love it here…The atmosphere should be loud and we’ll take advantage of it.”Under Cora, the Red Sox have become an aggressive offensive team with dependable power in the middle of the lineup — two of their biggest deficiencies over the last two postseasons.Martinez was given a $110 million Tyler Thornburg Jersey , five-year contract this offseason specifically to help in those areas and has come through in a big way.He ended the regular season batting .330 with 43 home runs and 130 RBIs. The only other Red Sox to hit at least .330 with 40-plus homers and 130 RBIs are Ted Williams (1949) and Jimmie Foxx (1936, 1938). The last major leaguer to do it was Miguel Cabrera (2013).And according to the Elias Sports Bureau, Betts and Martinez became the first MLB teammates to finish first and second in batting average and slugging percentage since 1904, when Pittsburgh’s Honus Wagner and Fred Clarke did it.Betts also has other motivations entering his third postseason. He hit just .200 in his first postseason in 2016 before bouncing back to hit .313 last postseason. But he has yet to record a home run or RBI.He is coming off his best regular season as a major leaguer, with career-bests in batting average (.346), slugging percentage (.640) and home runs (32).“I think it’s one of those things where you gotta go out and do what you’ve been doing all year — don’t try to do anything more or take anything way,” Betts said. “Just see the game the same way we played 162.”Boston won its regular-season series with the Yankees 10-9, but went just 2-4 against Oakland. The Athletics’ Sean Manaea no-hit Boston in April, though he’s now out for the season with an injury.Jackie Bradley Jr. said Boston has no preference for who it faces in Fenway Park on Friday.“The team that wins,” he said.Notes: Cora said right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is in line to start Game 4 of the ALDS if they face the Yankees. He said lefty Eduardo Rodriguez would start that game if they face the Athletics. But he said both decisions are not set in stone. Chris Sale http://www.redsoxproshops.com/authentic-jackie-bradley-jr-jersey , David Price and Rick Porcello have been named as starters in the first three games. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) Resorts Casino Hotel and DraftKings on Wednesday received approval to become the first companies to offer online and mobile sports betting in New Jersey. The state Division of Gaming Enforcement gave approval to the casino and its Boston-based online partner to launch an invitation-only version of mobile sports betting, which will undergo several days of testing before becoming fully available. Requests for invitations to participate can be made at draftkings.com.A launch was expected to happen Wednesday afternoon or evening. The companies won a heated race to be first to market with mobile and online sports betting, which is widely seen as the most promising segment of the nascent sports betting market. New Jersey regulators are considering mobile applications from several other companies and could soon approve additional online providers.Four casinos and two horse tracks currently offer in-person sports betting.Resorts officials declined to comment on Wednesday’s launch, which came hours after Harrah’s became the fourth Atlantic City casino to offer sports betting: A Frank Sinatra impersonator asked Luck to be a lady as he bet on the New York Yankees, and an Elvis impersonator thanked the clerk very much for handing him a similar bet slip.Harrah’s started taking sports bets two days after its sister property, Bally’s, did, joining the Borgata, Ocean Resort Roger Clemens Jersey , Bally’s and two horse racing tracks, the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park.”I did one with my heart and one with my head,” said James Prendergast, of Washington Township in Warren County. ”My heart bet on the (New York) Giants to win the Super Bowl, and my head bet on the (Houston) Texans.”Longtime Harrah’s customer Alan Kallman, of Monroe Township, placed the first sports bet at Harrah’s, putting $25 on the Yankees to win the World Series – after his wife talked him out of betting on the Boston Red Sox.”There’s a saying, Alan: Happy wife, happy life http://www.redsoxproshops.com/authentic-andrew-benintendi-jersey ,” said Kevin Ortzman, Atlantic City president of Caesars Entertainment, which owns Harrah’s, Bally’s and Caesars.Ortzman said Bally’s sports book ”has met our expectations” during its first two days of operation, but he would not say how much in bets it had taken in.New Jersey won a U.S. Supreme Court case in May clearing the way for all 50 states to offer sports betting should they choose to do so.—Follow Wayne Parry at http://twitter.com/WayneParryAC

ARLINGTON http://www.stlouiscardinalsteamshop.com/authentic-red-schoendienst-jersey , Texas (AP) — Bartolo Colon reached out and snagged the comeback liner while slipping into a squat on the mound. The portly 45-year-old pitcher managed to stay upright, with a smile on his face and a ball from his milestone victory secured firmly in his glove.Colon became the top winning pitcher born in Latin America, punctuating his 246th career victory with that nifty snag for the last out of his seven innings as the Texas Rangers roughed up Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners 11-4 on Tuesday night.“I thought (first baseman Jurickson) Profar was going to throw the ball away to the public, to the fans,” Colon said through a translator. “But I saw it and then I started laughing because it happened that way.”On his sixth try since earning his 245th win on June 30 to match the mark held by Nicaragua’s Dennis Martinez, the Rangers hurler from the Dominican Republic finally had the record to himself.“It was a long journey, but it finally came and it feels good,” said Colon, who got his last out against Dee Gordon on his 94th pitch.Colon (6-10) gave up four runs and eight hits in seven innings. The portly and popular right-hander walked none and struck out one. He retired 14 of the last 16 batters he faced after Seattle had two triples in the third, an inning after back-to-back homers by Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager .“True to I think the competitor in him, once we got the lead, you could see just the extra little gear that he put it into to get himself through those innings Enos Slaughter Jersey ,” manager Jeff Banister said.“It took a while to get it, but I’m proud of him,” said Adrian Beltre, the active career leader with 3,131 hits. “He’s a great, awesome teammate.”Beltre, Jurickson Profar and Rougned Odor all homered off Hernandez (8-10), who allowed a career-high 11 runs — seven earned — in six innings. Odor also had a two-run double.Colon is 246-186 in 560 games since his big league debut with Cleveland in 1997, was the 2005 AL Cy Young Award winner while with the Angels and has won games for each of the 11 teams he has pitched for in his career. His 244th victory earlier this season pushed him past Hall of Famer Juan Marichal for the most by a Dominican pitcher.“I always give thanks to God and to my family, all the support that I have from them,” Colon said. When Beltre struck out in the second against his old friend and former teammate, Hernandez laughed while playfully pointing him back toward the dugout. Beltre grounded into a double play in the third http://www.stlouiscardinalsteamshop.com/authentic-chris-carpenter-jersey , but his 468th career homer was a solo shot to straightway center in the sixth that made it 11-4.“I lost my command after the first two innings. Just leaving it in the middle of the plate and making a lot of mistakes,” Hernandez said. “That’s it. See the results.”Hernandez, whose 168 career wins are the most by a Venezuelan-born pitcher, struck out two and walked four. He was hurt by two errors by third baseman Seager that led to four unearned runs.“I was just bad tonight, didn’t catch them,” Seager said. The Mariners led 3-0 before Texas had a four-run third. Odor’s double made it 3-all and Elvis Andrus had a tiebreaking RBI single to extend the longest active hitting streak in the majors, and his career best, to 18 games. Profar’s three-run homer made it 8-4 in the fifth right after Seager misplayed Beltre’s two-out grounder. Odor’s two-run shot in the sixth was his 14th homer. Center fielder Cameron Maybin then made a running, leaping catch with his glove extended near the top of the wall to take a hit away from Andrus before Beltre put a shot over the wall.TRAINER’S ROOMMariners: Maybin was struck on the upper leg while waiting in the on-deck circle in the ninth inning when Chris Herrmann sliced a foul ball. Maybe appeared to be OK, even smiling briefly. Maybin then grounded out.UP NEXTYovani Gallardo, 6-1 since rejoining Texas in mid-June for the first time since 2015, starts the series finale against Seattle and lefty Marco Gonzales (12-6). While Gallardo has a 4.76 ERA in his past seven starts Kolten Wong Jersey , the Rangers have averaged an MLB-best 11.57 runs per nine innings with the right-hander on the mound. No AL pitcher has more than his six wins in that span. Gonzales had won five starts in a row with a 1.57 ERA before losing Friday against Toronto. TORONTO — The Philadelphia Phillies need a victory Sunday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. They need the win to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays, who are dawdling in fourth place in the American League East.More important, they must reverse a recent trend that threatens their playoff hopes.Article continues below ...They let a 5-0 lead get away Saturday afternoon and lost 8-6 to the Blue Jays on a three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning by Aledmys Diaz. The Phillies, who entered Saturday three games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East, have lost six of their past seven games.“We’re still in a good position to strike,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said. The Blue Jays have won five in a row for the first time this season and hold a 4-1 lead in the season series against the Phillies. The Phillies (69-60) will start right-hander Vince Velasquez (8-9, 4.06 ERA) Sunday and the Blue Jays (60-69) will counter with right-hander Marco Estrada (7-9, 4.88).Velasquez has never faced the Blue Jays in the regular season, although he has pitched against them in spring training.Estrada has not pitched against the Phillies in the regular season this year, but in 11 career games (five starts) against them he is 2-1 with a 5.45 ERA.The Phillies have struggled on the road this season, going 28-48 (41-21 at home) and 5-14 in their past 19 games.“I think we maintain the same poise that we have in rough stretches all season,” Kapler said. “I think we’ve had stretches similar to this one. This one has been undoubtedly difficult. but we want to remind our guys how tough we are and how resilient we are Trevor Rosenthal Jersey , how teams have rough stretches and this by no means does this mean we don’t have the ability to win the National League East.“I think one of the things that we can focus on is the reason this one may be a little bit more challenging is because it takes more energy to be resilient when you’re closer to the end. So it just means that we’re going to need to dig real deep and get that last drop of energy. I believe we have it in us.”While Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was 0-for-3 with a walk Saturday to end his hitting streak at 12 games, the home run streak of Kendrys Morales is alive. He has hit home runs in six consecutive games (for a total of seven) that matches the club record set in 2001 by Jose Cruz Jr.The streak by Morales equals the longest in the majors this season set by Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals on July 14-21.Morales also has a nine-game hitting streak. His batting is .516 (16-for-31) with seven homers and 13 RBIs.“He’s been on a nice little roll now for a while, a good while,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “Early in the year, he was chasing a lot of breaking balls, off-speed pitches down in the dirt, down in the zone — that’s what was getting him into trouble. He’s laying off those now and he’s even hitting breaking balls.”Outfielder Billy McKinney hit a two-run homer Saturday and has three homers in his first seven games from the Blue Jays after being called up from Triple-A Buffalo. He was part of the deal that sent left-hander J.A. Happ to the New York Yankees on July 26.McKinney is the first player to combine three homers and nine RBIs in his first seven games with the Blue Jays. Seven others have hit three or more homers in their first seven games with Toronto and Dave Martinez had nine RBIs in his first seven games with the Blue Jays in 2000.

test against Steelers Underappreciated castoff quarterback Tyrod Taylor believes in himself Jarvis Landry Jersey Elite , despite no one else seemingly sharing the sentiment. Nobody, except for maybe the Cleveland Browns coaches who are counting on him this season. But even their beliefs have caveats. The Browns love him for what he is, but also what they hope he can be, and both sides need him to become that this season. Taylor and the Browns may be on very different paths, but this year their fates are very much intertwined. Whether he keeps the job or not this season, it’s obvious that Taylor—win, lose or indifferent—is not long for Cleveland. His contract expires after this season, so the one-year stint he’ll play there is overshadowed by its caretaker nature. And despite being named Jackson’s unconditional starting quarterback for 2018 before the draft, Baker Mayfield was taken with the No. 1 pick. So while he has the job now, and assurances that he’s secure, let’s not forget how coach Hue Jackson has repeatedly waffled in his past convictions. If Taylor fails, his dreams of becoming a franchise quarterback could vanish quickly, along with the tasty salary that comes with it. And if he fails, Jackson could quickly find himself out of a job, thus shuffling coaches again for the Browns.Since being traded to Cleveland for a third-round pick in last April’s NFL draft, though, Taylor has handled himself as well as anyone in this situation could. He has done, said, and acted just as you’d expect an NFL starting quarterback. He has been a true professional http://www.clevelandbrownsteamonline.com/jarvis-landry-jersey , partly because he knows teams are watching, but mainly because that’s who he is as a person. It seems like he’s going to excel. It seems like it’s time for underdogs like the Browns and Taylor to finally get the credit they deserve. But things could not be as they seem. It’s true Taylor’s play this season has immense repercussions, as we have discussed, but whether he’ll do it or not is still a very strong unknown. Let’s take quick look into where he has been in order to put his chances of success in the most accurate light. The Virginia Tech product was selected by Baltimore with the 180th pick in the 2011 NFL draft, his name finally getting called after 10 other passers came off the board during the three-day rookie draft. Six quarterbacks went in the top 36 picks—three of them are no longer in the league. The next four are also out of work, including someone named Nathan Enderle, a guy who never played a down in the league and went 20 picks before Taylor. Former Crimson Tide signal-caller Greg McElroy was the only quarterback picked after him, and he’s gone too—long gone.Once he got the Buffalo, a place he was relied on to be the guy, Taylor was benched twice, once despite having public assurances and votes of confidence by the Bills (sounds familiar). That includes a benching last season, which turned into rookie Nathan Peterman’s infamous five-interception game and only lasted one half. Taylor came back in out of necessity, not confidence from his coaches, and he ended up quarterbacking the Bills to the postseason. The Bills dumped his as quickly as they could this past offseason, and the Browns happily brought him on board. After all, their quarterback situation has more resembled the Petermans of the league than the Taylors.Taylor’s scouting report has always been that he’s good enough, but not great or even good. That he’ll play within a system and not lose many games for his teams. That he just doesn’t have it as far as making game-changing plays where other quarterbacks fall short. We’ll find out this season whether those thoughts are true, or if Taylor maybe has a little more to him than many seem to think. Taylor has every reason in the world to play his best this season, and the stars have seemingly aligned to allow him to do it. If he’s the guy he believes he is Cheap Baker Mayfield Jersey , not the sixth rounder who can’t change games, then he’ll succeed with veteran coordinator Todd Haley calling plays along with the handful of Browns offensive players who all appear to be on the verge of breakouts. And if he does seize his opportunity, then he’ll get his pay day, and the Browns will have reassured ownership they have improved their franchise. That is the ideal outcome, where Taylor gets his paycheck and the Browns head into 2019 with hopes of taking the next step in the coming years with Mayfield at the helm. This is the script for his journey from under appreciated to solidified NFL starter, but it’s only a rough draft. Taylor has to finalize the first chapter on Sunday against Pittsburgh.Cleveland Browns Podcast - Next Up On The DBN Network: Ez Does It 9/8/18 Alas, we have reached the eve of the regular season, when all can be right with the world because our beloved (r)orange helmets will be playing on Sundays.Rejoice and smile at strangers - these are good times indeed! That is, at least there will be some football, and so I gab about all that a little bit in the latest Ez Does It. A third-round pick in 2016, Coleman was the team’s starting right tackle in 2017 for all 16 games. Although he didn’t play exceptionally well, for it being his first year as a starter, he held his own. This offseason, the team signed Chris Hubbard from the Steelers to be their new starting right tackle. With Joe Thomas retiring, the team decided to have an open competition there, with Coleman getting the first crack at it. Less than a week into training camp Womens Larry Ogunjobi Jersey , though, head coach Hue Jackson had seen enough and replaced Coleman. Rumors quickly started that the club could be trying to move on from Coleman, and on Friday, that’s exactly what they did: they shipped him to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2019.The trade likely assures that rookie Desmond Harrison will make the roster, and Greg Robinson’s odds of making it seem pretty good as well. The team still has 18 more roster moves to make to get to 53 players by the 4:00 PM ET deadline on Saturday.

We’ve gotten to this one a bit later in the week than we usually would. . .again White Eric Kendricks Jersey , a function of yours truly doing vacationy-type things. But, we’re on it now, and we’re going to take a look at the history between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. As you’d expect, the Vikings have faced the Packers more times than any other team in franchise history, as Sunday’s game will mark the 114th contest between these two teams. The Packers have the lead in the all-time head-to-head record, but the Vikings have closed the gap on that front a bit over the past few seasons. As always, the numbers used in this post come to you courtesy of the folks from Pro Football Reference.Total regular season games between the Vikings and the Packers: 113All-time regular season record: Packers, 59-52-2Total Vikings’ points scored, head-to-head: 2 Kirk Cousins Jersey ,189 (19.4 points/game)Total Packers’ points scored, head-to-head: 2,459 (21.8 points/game)Longest Vikings’ winning streak vs Packers: 7 games, 2 November 1975 to 22 October 1978Longest Packers’ winning streak vs Vikings: 6 games, 22 October 1961 to 10 November 1963 (first six games in series history)Most recent Vikings’ road win in series: 23 December 2017 (final score 16-0)Most recent Packers’ home win in series: 24 December 2016 (final score 38-25)Biggest Vikings’ road win in series: 26 points, 7 December 1986 (final score 32-6)Biggest Packers’ home win in series: 38 points, 14 November 2011 (final score 45-7)Current streak: Vikings, 2 winsAs I’m guessing you’ve heard by this point, the Vikings did sweep the Packers last season Authentic Mike Hughes Jersey , and it was allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll because Aaron Rodgers was injured and had nothing to do with the Vikings being a good football team or anything like that. Last season at Lambeau, in another late-season matchup, the Vikings’ defense did something that no Vikings’ defense had done for nearly a quarter of a century. . .hold an opponent to zero points. Granted, the Vikings’ offense wasn’t great that night or anything, but they did enough to grind out a 16-0 victory, the first shutout for the Vikings since 1993.The last time the Vikings saw Aaron Rodgers for four quarters at Lambeau Field. . .well, it didn’t go particularly well for them. In another December matchup, Rodgers was in full-blown MVP mode, as he completed four touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Packers ended the competitive portion of the season for the 2016 Vikings by a final score of 38-25.This is the first September matchup at Lambeau Field between the Vikings and the Packers since the 2008 season opener. . .which just happened to be the first regular season start of Rodgers career. Neither quarterback that night really lit it up. . .both Rodgers and Tarvaris Jackson threw for 178 yards and a touchdown on the evening. However Youth Anthony Barr Jersey , the Packers ultimately made more plays than the Vikings did that night, and walked away with a 24-19 victory to start that season. And that’s a brief look back at the history between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers leading up to tomorrow’s matchup at Lambeau Field, ladies and gentlemen.Mike Zimmer says that Everson Griffen won’t be back until Week 6 at the earliest Aside from the on-field struggles of the defense, the biggest story for the Minnesota Vikings through the first quarter of the season has been what’s happened with defensive end Everson Griffen. Following an incident at a Minneapolis hotel prior to the Vikings’ Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills, Griffen has been away from the team and working on some personal issues. While Griffen has vowed to come back, per a statement he released last week, it won’t happen prior to the Vikings’ Week 5 contest in Philadelphia. Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed that to reporters late last week as well. It’s hard to speculate about whether or not the loss of Griffen has had a residual effect on the team as a whole. Yes, everyone on the Vikings’ roster is a professional and has a job to do, and I understand that sentiment Trae Waynes Jersey , but at the same time Griffen is one of the Vikings’ veteran leaders. It’s difficult to believe that his absence wouldn’t have an effect on his teammates, particularly those that have played with him for a number of seasons.Zimmer also said that the main focus is on getting Griffen “right” again and then worrying about getting him back onto the football field. Hopefully we will see both of those things in the very near future, but the former is defintely more important than the latter.Whenever the comeback starts for Everson Griffen, however, it won’t begin in Week 5.
