ESPN is citing multiple reports that say that Cuban slugger Jose Abreu has defected from his country. NFL Jerseys China . Abreu, 26, is a former MVP in Cuban baseball. In the 2010-11 season he hit .453 with 33 home runs and 93 RBI in just 66 games. He played for Cuba in the World Baseball Classic back in March and had three home runs and nine RBI. Abreu could follow a path similar to former Cuban stars Yoenis Cespedes, Yasiel Puig, and Aroldis Chapman. He needs to establish residency in another country and get cleared by the U.S. government before he can apply to Major League Baseball to be declared a free agent. At that point he would be free to sign with any club. Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys China . The deal is pending a physical, assistant general manager Bobby Evans said. Adelaide have secured a valuable percentage boost with a thumping 82-point AFL win over Essendon. But Sundays victory looks to have come at a cost, with valuable ruckman Sam Jacobs suffering an ankle injury early in the second quarter of the 22.11 (143) to 9.7 (61) win at Adelaide Oval.Jacobs didnt return to the field after landing awkwardly on his left ankle, and later emerged from the sidelines on crutches. It was a rare sore point for the Crows, who were hardly troubled by an outmatched and overawed Essendon. The Bombers showed the right signs early on, winning the most clearances and inside-50s in the first quarter. But the difference in skill levels between the two sides was telling.Plenty of Essendons forward entries ended up in the hands of Rory Laird (36 touches) and Kyle Cheney (seven marks, 13 touches), whose quality rebounding drove Adelaide forward time and again. The Crows stepped on the gas in the second quarter to open up a 45-point lead at halftime. From there, it was party time for the 44,264 home crowd. The Crows kicked seven majors to Esssendons one in the third quarter as maestro Eddie Betts (five goals) and apprentice Charlie Cameron (four) added to their tallies. PHILADELPHIA -- Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley enjoyed a fairytale return to Philadelphia on Tuesday night. Scarpe Nike Shox Gravity Uomo Nere/Gola Verde/Calce Calda AR1999-003 .On Wednesday, the Dodgers return to the everyday realities of the National League West race.Utley, a six-time All-Star while playing most of his first 13 seasons with the Phillies, was accorded a standing ovation in his first game in Citizens Bank Park since he was traded for two minor leaguers last Aug. 19.He later hit a solo homer off Philadelphia starter Vince Velasquez, then added a grand slam off reliever Michael Mariot, as the Dodgers rolled to a 15-5 victory. After each homer he acknowledged a curtain call.No doubt a little extra adrenaline is flowing, Utley said. Adrenaline can be your friend at times. There was a lot of adrenaline flowing tonight. On Wednesday the Dodgers, jousting with the San Francisco Giants for the divisional lead, will send left-hander Scott Kazmir (9-6, 4.44) to the mound against rookie right-hander Jake Thompson (1-1, 8.68).The 32-year-old Kazmir pitched well against the Phillies in Los Angeles last week, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings while striking out six and walking three. He was nonetheless tagged with a 6-2 loss, running his career record against Philadelphia to 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA.I was able to make pitches when I needed to and had the changeup today, Kazmir said, according to Major League Baseballs official web site. Thats a tough one. We wanted to pull this one out and have a good off-day, but (we) let this one slip away.Thompson negotiated five innings against Colorado to earn his first major league victory his last time out, in his first home start. Thompson allowed three runs on two hits while striking out six and walking three. Its kind of nice to get the first one out of the way, and hopefully Ill gain a lot more confidence and comfort on the mound and keep it rolling, said Thompson, who had been shelled by the San Diego Padres in his major league debut.Manager Pete Mackanin said Thompson, who threw 87 pitches (just 49 strikes), was a little erratic with his command.Tall order for Thompson to face this team, Mackanin added. This is a darn good hitting team. ... He did a pretty good job. ... He battled through it.Thompson equaled a 114-year-old club record when he struck out four batters in the second inning, the first of which, David Dahl, reached on a wild pitch. Doc White is the only other Philadelphia pitcher to fan four in an inning, having done so on July 21, 1902 against the Brooklyn Dodgers. He has never faced the Dodgers.Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard hit a two-run homer Tuesday, his 18th of the season and the 375th of his career. That moved him past Rocky Colavito and into sole possession of 76th place on the all-time list, but was an afterthought given Utleys return, as well as the outcome. As players we just try to play the game as its supposed to be played, but I think it was something bigger tonight, Howard said. Then for Chase to come back and do what he did tonight, hopefully hes done doing that, but thats just the kind of player he is, and just the kind of guy he is. Nike Shox Unisex . There was a moment earlier this season when there was a bit of a strange sound in Nneka Ogwumikes voice when she was asked about the difficulty of facing defending champion Minnesota. Ante Rebic Dres .Was that a little edge we heard from Ogwumike? She of the perpetually cheerful disposition and easy, bubbling laugh? Yeah, it sounded that way.She wasnt growling or anything like that. But she basically said she was pretty sure the Lynx were focusing on the Lynx, not the Sparks. Thus, the Sparks needed to do the same thing: focus on themselves.Maybe you could call it part of the competitive evolution of Ogwumike, who accomplished a career milestone by being named the WNBAs MVP on Tuesday. She has always been a selfless player, going back to her great career at Stanford, the kind of player who was just concerned with what was best for her team. She has maintained that attitude through her five years as a professional, including some challenging times with the Sparks. Los Angeles has made the playoffs every year since drafting Ogwumike at No. 1 in 2012. But the Sparks have won just one postseason series, 2-0 over San Antonio in her rookie year.Ogwumike has played for three WNBA coaches, if you count executive vice president/general manager Penny Tolers 12-game stint as coach after Carol Ross was fired in July 2014.Ogwumike has had to play out of position at times, especially last year, filling in the gaps depending on the Sparks personnel. She has learned to guard players at different positions, using speed, quickness, leaping ability and those Stanford smarts to try to stop guards, forwards and centers. At 6-foot-2, Ogwumike is what some coaches admiringly call bouncy. Ive compared her to Tigger before, and it seems apt. But there is also an explosiveness to her that seems more refined and effective this year than ever before. Which is saying something, because she has been a very good player from the first time she stepped on a WNBA court. And then, of course, theres the making a ton of shots thing. That reached a new level for Ogwumike this season. Her field goal percentage in her first four seasons: 53.5, 56.6, 52.0, and 52.5. All very respectable, as her scoring average climbed from 14.0 PPG her rookie season to 16.5 last year. This season, shes shooting a ridiculous 66.5 percent from the field (244-of-367). Her efficiency as a scorer leads the WNBA. Its at a historical level, and it was a key factor in her winning the MVP award. She also averaged career highs in scoring (19.7), rebounding (9.1), assists (3.1) and blocked shots (1.2).Statistically, Ogwumikes numbers made a very compelling case for MVP. But you can also point to things like the praise-filled note Los Angeles coach Brian Agler sent out to media members urging them to strongly consider Ogwumike because of everything she does, even when its hard to measure statistically.Sometimes on teams, the glue player is someone whos never going to be an MVP or win any other league honor. But shes the best at keeping everyone light when thats needed, making sure there are no gaps in communication between the players or coaches, and generally taking responsibility even for things that arent her fault.Ogwumike has always done that, and then add to it just that little bit of edge that seemed noticeable -- barely, but there -- this season. It has nothing to do with arrogance or irritation; its about honing a kind of fierce competitiveness that Ogwumike knows the Sparks will need to make a title run.Ogwumike is someone that all the Sparks know they can count on. Her impressive stats were the hard data needed to earn the MVP honor. But the winning personality she brings to the Sparks just adds a layer of evidence that this was an honor she definitely earned. Seven months ago, South Africa were not keen to play a day-night Test match, primarily because they had never done it before. Five months ago, they agreed to the fixture, after being assured of adequate preparation time. Now, on the eve of a match which has been dominated by discussion over their stand-in captain Faf du Plessis ball tampering offence, they are - in coach Russell Domingos words - very excited about featuring in only the third fixture of its kind. What changed? When they said they changed the seam, made it black and it would have better visibility, things started changing, du Plessis said. We just wanted to be part of something and not miss out and see whats its all about.Cricket South Africa made it clear that keenness and not cash changed the players minds, and confirmed that Cricket Australia did not offer any financial incentive for their participation in this match. Instead, the hosts promised South Africa two warm-up matches, one pre-series, one mid-series under lights, and agreed to use the pink ball for a winter series between South Africa A and Australia A. Six of the current Test squad members were part of that series.South Africa A lost both unofficial Tests but gained reassuring experience. At the time, Vernon Philander still had some doubt about the balls softness but his report was better than last years, when even Australian players believed the ball needed improvement. It was those concerns that initially dissuaded South Africa. In chats before the World T20, when Australia visited South Africa for three T20s, and at the IPL, South African players spoke to the Australian players and read the comments around the pink ball. There were a lot of question marks around it and at the time, it didnt sound like it was ready for it to be perfect, du Plessis said.Since then, the ball has undergone changes and players are more comfortable with it. Steven Smith confirmed it doesnt swing as much because of the extra layer of lacquer, but it still is most effective under lights: If you look at pink-ball statistics, most wickets have been lost in the third session of play. That is the pattern that has happened. For Faf du Plessis that is not a major issue because two-thirds of the game happens during the day. With the sun setting at around 8pm, only some part of the final session takes place in complete darkness. When you say day-night, you think everything is happening at night but most of it is happeninng in the day. Dres Marcelo Brozovic. Its only an hour of night game. Its actually a short time, du Plessis said. But a significant part of the second session will be played in the twilight period when it is said to be most difficult to bat. South Africa have tried to downplay the twilight period and are taking inspiration from Quinton de Kock, who scored 122 in the first warm-up and felt so comfortable that he didnt play the second. The beauty of Quinton de Kock and the way he plays is the simplicity he gave with that answer about the pink ball. Its just another ball. Someone asked him about batting at dusk, he said it was the easiest time to bat. So thats the sort of attitude we are going into it with, Russell Domingo, South Africas coach, said. Its just another cricket ball. It might be a different colour. Its just another cricket pitch. They have all played under lights before. Were not too concerned whether its pink, white or red at the moment. We just want to play the Test match. The ball aside, South Africa are also looking forward to the match because it presents them with the opportunity to make history. After achieving a third successive Test series win in Australia, they have the opportunity to become the only team to whitewash Australia 3-0 at home. Several South African players have called a 3-nil scoreline, their mission.Despite the attention on the ball-tampering claims, South Africa still consider themselves to have the advantage because of the state of the Australian team. Their XI has five changes from the Hobart Test, including three debutants, and du Plessis did not hide the satisfaction he is getting from seeing Australia in strife. When you see all the changes they are making now, that brings pleasure to me as a captain to see that what we are doing is creating something in the Australian team that they feel they need to change. If I was sitting in that team, a lot of changes means you are trying to change everything in your team. Id rather be sitting on my side, du Plessis said. His coach was more cautious and warned that Australia wont go down without a fight, especially in a match this important. I dont think there has ever been an Australian team that has just given up or been easy to beat, Domingo said. We know they will be desperate to do well and get their cricket going again. Gloucester secured a crucial try-bonus point victory to leap up the Aviva Premiership as they defeated dogged Bristol 26-18 at Kingsholm. Nike Vapormax Plus Mens For Sale .The Cherry and Whites fired blanks in the opening half as Bristol went in 6-0 ahead thanks to two penalties from full-back Jason Woodward. However, an improved second period saw centre Matt Scott, scrum-half and captain Willi Heinz and wing Henry Purdy all go over for tries, with a penalty try also awarded. Fullback James Hook also kicked three out of four conversions.Wing Jack Wallace and Luke Arscott got late Bristol consolation tries, one of which Arscott coverted.Gloucester began the match in determined fashion, with Bristol stuck inside their own half as the Cherry and Whites pounded their defence.Former England number eight Ben Morgan was on the rampage and made several holes in the visitors defence. Once they started to motor, the Premierships basement side took the game to Gloucester, and they went ahead when Woodward slotted a simple shot from 23 metres to put Bristol three points ahead. The visitors had Gloucester on the rack soon after as they reached Gloucesters tryline, with skipper Jordan Crane at number eight leading the charge - but could not breach a solid defence. Woodward, though, added a second penalty after 18 minutes and were giving the Cherry and Whites headaches.Skipper Heinz came the closest to grabbing a Gloucester try during a decidedly average first period when he was stopped two metres short of the line - and the home crowd vented their frustration when Hook, who has signed for Welsh region Ospreys for next season, missed a straightforward penalty.Gloucesters handling was poor before the break and all the endeavour was coming from the visitors - but it was a different story after the turnaround as the home side pressed forward.By the 50-minute mark, they had stormed into a 14-6 lead, with Bristol having no answer to some punishing Gloucester momentum.Humphreys changed centre Mark Atkinson for former England centre Billy Twelvetrees at the break and it had an immediate effect as Twelvetrees gave a scoring pass inside the 22 to Scott. Hooks conversion put Gloucester ahead. Gloucesters scrum overpowered the visitors inside Bristols 22 and, when the ball popped out at the side, Heinz snatched it to dive in from five metres alongside the posts. The home side had gone up a few gears and, when they drove a maul over the Bristol line, replacement prop Jamal Ford-Robinson was yellow carded for pulling it down. Ref Matthew Carley also awarded a penalty try, which Hook converted.Bristol almost got a try when replacement fly-half Billy Searle set a lovely ball inside to lock James Phillips but, on review, the pass was adjudged forward. It was tough luck on Bristol but they suffered even worse fortune when Purdy waltzed past two attempted tackles from 10 metres out to stroll over on the left for Gloucesters bonus point try. With seconds left, Wallace got Bristols consolation try in the right corner and Arscott got another virtually straight away. Nike Mens Air Force 1 Mid "NYC" Obsidian/Brilliant Orange AO1639-400 . India 267 for 3 (Kohli 103*, Rahane 79*) v New ZealandScorecard and ball-by-ball detailsAn unbroken partnership of 167 between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, the highest of the series so far, put India in control at the end of Indores first day of Test cricket. Kohli ended the day on 103, his 13th Test hundred. It was by no means his most enthralling innings, but it was utterly dominant in that he gave New Zealand no inch on a largely attritional day. Rahane, less certain, gutsed it out to stay unbeaten on 79 and India were 267 for 3.Having come together at 100 for 3, with the match in the balance, Kohli and Rahane gradually asserted Indias dominance in front of an enthusiastic crowd numbering over 18,000. Having started watchfully - they added 48 in 20 overs before tea - they grew increasingly fluent, scoring 119 in the final session in 34 overs, at exactly three-and-a-half runs an over. All five of New Zealands bowlers were disciplined and had well-thought-out plans, but there was little help for them off a pitch that wasnt the greatest to look at, with cracks all over its surface, but played more or less true on the first day, if a little slow. The offspinner Jeetan Patel was their best bowler, but his figures - 1 for 65 off 24 overs - told a story: he frequently beat the batsmen in the air, but they usually managed to adjust since it didnt turn all that much or all that quickly once it landed.Kohli came into the match with scores of 44, 3, 4, 9, 18, 9 and 45 in his last seven Test innings, but the last of them, in Kolkata, had been a superb display of footwork and judgment on a pitch with uneven bounce. It suggested he wasnt really out of form.Again, in Indore, he avoided the extravagant shots that had got him out in his first three innings of the series, and accumulated steadily, blending into the background for most part. He didnt offer any clear chances, and the two times he edged the ball, it eluded the fielders: on 39, drift caused him to edge Patel between keeper and slip; on 69, he reached out at a wide-ish length ball from James Neesham, and edged through a vacant first slip.Otherwise, New Zealand could see no way past him and, every now and again, he roused the crowd with his strokeplay. There were a couple of his trademark extra-cover drives, but his most breathtaking shots on the day came on the leg side: a checked pull off Trent Boult, when he adjusted to the ball staying lower than expected; a back-foot whip to the right of midwicket, against the turn, off Mitchell Santner; a clip off the legs, off Boult, that bisected square leg and long leg. All three times, the ball sped away effortlessly, testament both to the quickness of the outfield and to Kohlis timing.Rahane endured a few nervous moments against the short ball. Twice - on 3 by Matt Henry and on 25 by Neesham - he lifted his hands instinctively to protect his face, and was lucky the ball hit his arm guard on both occasions rather than his glove. On 7, he top-edged a pull as Boult went around the wicket and angled a short ball into his body, and saw the ball fall inches wide of Henry rushing in from the square leg boundary. On 41, he kept his gloves and bat out of the way of a Henry bouncer, but couldnt move his upper-body across quickly enough to evade it, and took a blow to the back. There were a number of other times when he ducked or swayed awkwardly, with eyes off the ball,, as well. Nike Womens VaporMax Moc Flyknit Triple Black/Anthracite AA4155-004. But a good batsman makes runs even in discomfort, and Rahane did not let these moments affect him. His defence was solid, and he got his head right on top of the ball while striding forward to the spinners - a failure to do so had cost him his wicket twice in Kanpur. Occasionally, he served up a reminder of his timing, such as when he lofted Patel back over his head and when he drove Santner inside-out to the cover boundary. He went past fifty with a six, stepping out to Patel, not quite reaching the pitch of the ball, but adjusting by playing with an almost horizontal bat to swat the ball over wide long-on.Given the look of the surface, India seemed to gain an early advantage when they won their third toss of the series and their eighth in a row in home Tests. Batting, by general consensus, would be easiest on days one and two. But India didnt really press their advantage in the first two sessions, despite their batsmen looking fairly comfortable in the middle. The crowd was treated to an entertaining start as M Vijay drove Boult on the up for two fours through the covers in the third over of the morning, and Gautam Gambhir, returning to the Test side after two years to replace the injured Shikhar Dhawan, pulled Henry for successive sixes in the fourth over. Kane Williamson, back in charge of New Zealand after missing the Kolkata Test with illness, brought Patel on in the fifth over, and he struck with his fifth ball, getting it to dip on Vijay, who looked to flick a long way in front of his body and gave Tom Latham the chance to pull off a juggling reflex catch at short leg. There was little turn on offer for Patel and Santner, who bowled from both ends till the 11th over, and Cheteshwar Pujara and Gambhir settled down nicely before Boult and Henry came back into the attack. The quicks changed their lengths to Gambhir in their second spells, bowling noticeably fuller and trying to exploit the left-handers tendency to shuffle across his crease. He grew quieter against this mode of attack, scoring only two runs in 20 balls before he was lbw to Boult, bringing his bat down at an angle to a full one that nipped in slightly.Pujara looked serene through to lunch, using his feet to the spinners, getting nicely on top of the rising ball against the quicks, putting the bad ball away, and showing more willingness than in Kolkata - given the lack of turn or seam movement off this surface - to change the angle of his bat face to look for singles on both sides of the pitch. After lunch, however, both he and Kohli had to work hard for their runs as Patel settled into a good rhythm. He caused both batsmen problems, bellowing out an lbw appeal after Kohli went back to a quicker one on a good length - the ball striking his pad just outside the line - and throwing his hands up in the air when Pujara came down the track, failed to cover for drift, and edged a defensive push through backward point. It was Santner, though, who gave New Zealand the breakthrough, in the second over of a new spell. Firing one in just short of a good length, he caused indecision in Pujara, who pressed half-forward, and then went halfway back and ended up caught on the crease as the ball spun sharply past his defensive bat and hit his off stump. St. Louis Blues goalie Carter Hutton is expected to sign with the Buffalo Sabres once the NHL’s free-agency period opens Sunday Authentic Wayne Simmonds Jersey , according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions.

The person tells The Associated Press that the two sides are close to having the framework of a deal in place after Hutton visited Buffalo this week. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Saturday because agreements cannot be announced until the signing period begins.

The 32-year-old Hutton has six seasons of NHL experience, including the past two with the Blues, where he split starting duties with Jake Allen. He finished with a 17-7-3 record and a 2.09 goals-against average in 32 games last year.

The Sabres have needs at goalie after electing not to re-sign third-year starter Robin Lehner and veteran backup Chad Johnson.

Hutton would form a tandem with Linus Ullmark, who is pegged to make the jump to the NHL level on a full-time basis after spending the past three years developing in the minors.

鈥?After years of planning and many millions in spending, there was one thing organizers of Super Bowl 52 couldn’t control 鈥?a Minnesota winter. The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots played inside. But as fans were heading to U.S. Bank Stadium at noon Sunday, the temperature in Minneapolis was minus-2 degrees, with a wind chill of negative 23 鈥?by far the coldest Super Bowl on record 鈥?raising questions about whether the NFL’s marquee event would ever return to Minnesota. While warmer climates tend to be more popular host cities, a flashy new stadium and amenities often play a bigger role than the weather in determining who will host the big game.“The owners will do as they like. So that’s one of those decisions that’s just not up to the fan base,” said Mark Cobb, who has been to several Super Bowls in his work for the NFL Players Association. “Wherever has the newest, prettiest stadium Cheap Kemoko Turay Jersey , that’s who gets the game.”Cobb, of Washington, said everyone in Minnesota was nice, and he’d return to Minneapolis for a Super Bowl. But he said the weather felt “like I was being punished. Minnesota is where they send you when you’re bad. But if you embrace it like the people who live here, instead of fighting it, it’s not so bad.”The NFL has used the Super Bowl as a reward for municipalities that pump public money into new venues. Minnesota was awarded the game in 2014, two years after state lawmakers approved a financing package that had taxpayers paying nearly half the cost of the $1.1 billion stadium.Other northern cities have reaped similar benefits. New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium got a Super Bowl in its fourth season, the only outdoor Super Bowl at a northern site to date (2014). Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis hosted in 2012 and Ford Field in Detroit hosted in 2006, both at the end of their fourth seasons. The only other Super Bowls held in the north were in suburban Detroit at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1982 and in Minneapolis at the Metrodome in 1992.While warmer climates have held more Super Bowls, there is no rotation of pre-selected cities that get picked, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. He said it’s up to club owners to take the initial step of expressing an interest in hosting. The sites of the next four Super Bowls are already chosen: Atlanta in 2019 Da'Ron Payne Color Rush Jersey , followed by South Florida, Tampa Bay and Los Angeles.Atlanta has a stadium that opened in 2017. Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa have been renovated in the past three years, and Los Angeles will have a new stadium by the time it hosts the game.McCarthy said the weather in Minneapolis wasn’t a negative. Instead, he said it provided new experiences for fans, some of whom took advantage of the Minneapolis skyway system, a collection of enclosed 鈥?and heated 鈥?pedestrian bridges.“We knew weather was going to be a factor and we embraced it,” he said.Andrea Mokros, a spokeswoman for the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee, said the event was a “huge success.” Visitor numbers were still being calculated, but Mokros said outdoor concerts and other events were well attended, even on the coldest nights during 10 days of festivities.“The cold didn’t slow anyone down and in fact made it a more memorable experience Packers Josh Jackson Jersey ,” she said. Mokros said the winter climate allowed the host committee to offer a different sort of fun for guests, such as snowmobiling or skijoring (cross-country skiing while being pulled by a dog). And she said she felt some pride when she saw celebrities donning winter hats and embracing the cold weather.Paul Vaaler, a professor of management and law at the University of Minnesota law school and the Carlson School of Management, said while warmer tourist destinations are more likely to get Super Bowls, there is some strategy to spreading the game to different franchises: The promise of a Super Bowl can lead cities to build new stadiums and keep teams from leaving certain markets.Because of that, he said, other northern cities are likely to host the Super Bowl before Minnesota gets another chance.“That incentive to build a stadium and attract the Super Bowl is gone (for Minnesota), but it’s not gone in a place like Cincinnati, or a place like Denver” or other northern NFL cities that have stadiums that are more than 20 years old. “For other northern climates, there will be pressure.”Some fans said the weather was tolerable and there were plenty of experiences in Minneapolis to keep them entertained. Others said that even though Minnesotans were hospitable, they’d prefer a warmer location.“The cold was just brutal Cheap Su'a Cravens Jersey ,” said Philadelphia Eagles fan Terry Laufer of Carrollton, Virginia. His wife, Rhonda, said: “I would never be able to bring children here. It would be too risky.” The pair said they’d return with their grandkids in September, when it’s warmer.“You could have had the Arctic Circle and it would have been a great experience,” said Jody Haggerty of Milford, Pennsylvania. “Minneapolis made it work. … It’s not about the location. It’s about the experience, the atmosphere and the game.”Associated Press writer Steve Karnowski contributed to this report..

Jake Guentzel scored twice to push his playoff total to a league-leading 10 Cheap Nathan Shepherd Jersey , Matt Murray stopped 20 shots and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 in Game 4 to even their tense Eastern Conference semifinal on Thursday night.

Evgeni Malkin added his fourth goal of the playoffs for Pittsburgh as the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions pushed back following a chaotic Game 3 that included an illegal hit by Washington forward Tom Wilson that led to a three-game suspension.

T.J. Oshie scored for the Capitals, but Washington struggled to find much operating room. Alex Ovechkin failed to register a shot on goal for just the third time in 107 career playoff games. Braden Holtby finished with 21 saves but couldn’t quite get a handle on Malkin’s belly-flop shot attempt late in the second period that put Pittsburgh in front to stay.

Game 5 is Saturday night in Washington.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) – Pekka Rinne made 32 saves, P.K. Subban and Ryan Hartman scored and Nashville stifled Winnipeg’s high-powered offense to even their second-round series through four games.

Patrik Laine scored off a faceoff in the final minute, but Nashville’s Nick Bonino won two key faceoffs after that to end it.

Game 5 will be Saturday in Nashville Frank Ragnow Lions Jersey , with Game 6 set for Winnipeg on Monday. Game 7, if necessary, would be in Nashville next Thursday.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 shots, but Nashville snapped Winnipeg’s 13-game home winning streak, which dated to March 2.

Rinne allowed five goals amid a series of defensive miscues in a 7-4 Game 3 defeat. He rebounded impressively behind a team that was much sharper in its own end.

Despite having a fastball that doesn’t reach 90 miles an hour, Wade LeBlanc effectively shut down one of the best lineups in the American League.

LeBlanc pitched into the eighth inning and Nelson Cruz had an RBI single as the Seattle Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox 1-0 Saturday night.

LeBlanc gave up just two hits and struck out nine over 7 2/3 innings. After a single by Mookie Betts on the opening at-bat of the game Josh Jackson Packers Jersey , he retired the next 22 batters until Eduardo Nunez singled with two outs in the eighth.

”What a changeup he had today. That has been his bread and butter his whole career, but today was probably the best one we’ve seen all year,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. ”He knows his craft very well and when he gets on a roll like that, he just keeps riding it.”

LeBlanc (3-0) wasn’t a part of the Mariners starting rotation until the first week of May. But since replacing an injured Erasmo Ramirez in the rotation, LeBlanc has shined for the Mariners. He’s posted a 2.06 ERA in nine starts and Saturday’s gem was the best of the lot.

A near-capacity crowd at Safeco Field saluted LeBlanc with a standing ovation as he left the field after Nunez’s single.

”That’s a really neat moment. Guys that throw 86 (mph) don’t really get standing ovations really often,” LeBlanc said chuckling. ”I definitely wanted to kind of take them in and show my appreciation for it.”

Alex Colome got pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland to pop out to end the eighth Julio Urias Jersey , and Edwin Diaz struck out the side in the ninth for his 27th save.

It was LeBlanc’s first start of more than seven innings pitched since his first outing of the 2011 season with the San Diego Padres. His nine strikeouts were also his most since striking out 10 against the Los Angeles Dodgers that same season.

”He reminds me of that guy on the wall over there,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said gesturing toward a photo of Jamie Moyer. ”LeBlanc was outstanding. Back-door cutters, front-door sinkers and mixed up his breaking ball halfway through the game, all on the edge of the strike zone.”

LeBlanc had a little help from Dee Gordon at second base with diving stops to rob Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts of base hits.

The Mariners needed LeBlanc’s stellar outing as they struggled to get a lot going against knuckleballer Steven Wright.

Wright (2-1) held Seattle to just one run and five hits with two walks and four strikeouts over seven innings.

Three singles – all to left field – off Wright in the third inning gave the Mariners their early advantage. Gordon reached with one out while Mitch Haniger and Cruz each singled with two down.

”We got just enough off of a really tough knuckleballer,” Servais said. ”Our guys are not used to seeing that and he was really good. The ball was dancing everywhere. He threw a lot of strikes with it.

”Our guy was just a little bit better.”

It snapped Wright’s string of 25 1/3 scoreless innings, which topped the stretch of 25 scoreless innings by Oakland’s Daniel Mengden for the longest in the majors this season.

The Mariners signed first-round pick Logan Gilbert earlier in the day. The right-handed pitcher from Stetson University posted a 2.52 ERA while going 11-1 with 157 strikeouts and 23 walks in 15 starts. His 157 strikeouts lead NCAA Division-I baseball this season.

Red Sox: LHP Drew Pomeranz played catch in the outfield on Friday and is expected to do so again on Sunday. Manager Alex Cora said Pomeranz still felt stiff from his left biceps tendinitis but that they didn’t feel it was anything serious. ”He was moving around better today Adidas Jamie Benn Jersey ,” Cora said.

Mariners: RHP Juan Nicasio threw a live bullpen session prior to Saturday’s game. Nicasio is expected to be activated from the disabled list during Seattle’s upcoming series in New York. He’s eligible to come off the disabled list on Sunday after having fluid buildup in his right knee.

Red Sox: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (8-1) has won each of his last five starts and hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a start since May 15. He’s posted a 2.15 ERA over 29 1/3 innings with 30 strikeouts over his last five outings.

Mariners: RHP Mike Leake (7-3) has pitched at least six innings in each of his last five starts, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.77 ERA over that span.

Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis gave the Athletics an opportunity for another come-from-behind win. Stephen Piscotty completed the job.

Piscotty belted a go-ahead Jeff Locke Jersey Elite , two-run homer in the 11th inning as Oakland rallied for a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.

It was the Athletics’ 22nd comeback win of the season, six of them occurring in extra innings. The Indians carried a 3-0 lead into the eighth before reliever Neil Ramirez gave up back-to-back home runs to Lowrie — a two-run blast — and Davis to tie it.

”You can’t sleep on our offense because we can vaporize the lead really quick,” Piscotty said. ”We know that and that’s why we keep grinding and keep playing.”

Matt Chapman, who had a career-high four hits and stole his first base in the majors, scored later in the frame on Jonathan Lucroy’s grounder to make a winner out of A’s closer Blake Treinen (5-1).

Nine of Oakland’s last 19 victories have occurred via runs in the eighth inning or later, including its last two. The A’s scored twice in the eighth Wednesday to beat San Diego 4-2.

”Just knowing that we’re not out of the game, no matter how late it is, definitely builds confidence,” said Davis, who has a team-high 21 homers. ”We’ll just keep learning from them and hold onto the momentum.”

Cleveland had its home winning streak snapped at eight and fell to 1-6 in extra-inning contests. Josh Tomlin (0-5), the Indians’ sixth pitcher Isaiah Oliver Falcons Jersey , allowed all three runs after entering to start the 11th.

Right-hander Corey Kluber tossed seven shutout innings, but was denied in his bid to become the first Indians pitcher with 13 wins before the All-Star break since Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry had 15 in 1974.

The two-time AL Cy Young winner allowed only one runner to reach third base, scattering five hits and striking out three before exiting after 102 pitches. Kluber is 7-1 with a 1.43 ERA at Progressive Field this season.

”Even though we didn’t beat him, to get a win with a guy like Kluber on the mound to start, that might be worth two for us,” Lowrie said. ”It never seems like we’re out of a game.”

Oakland righty Edwin Jackson went 5 2/3 innings in his third big league start of the year, allowing single runs in the first, second and sixth. Ryan Buchter, Lou Trevino and Treinen combined to blank Cleveland the rest of the way.

Ramirez hadn’t allowed a run in his previous 17 appearances, but manager Terry Francona didn’t second-guess his decision to pull his ace.

”Corey is such a good pitcher and he’s smart, and he gave us seven really good innings Tarvarius Moore Jersey 49ers ,” Francona said. ”We lean on him so hard, I thought we’d go to Neil. And it didn’t work. Neil has been good, but today, not so much.”

Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor scored his major league-leading 79th run and had an RBI, while Greg Allen doubled home Yan Gomes. Lindor committed the error that scored Chapman with the game’s final run.

The Indians played the final three innings without a designated hitter after Francona made a flurry of strategic moves that forced RHP Zach McAllister into the batting order. The former Phillies skipper also pulled off a rare AL double-switch in the 11th to avoid having Tomlin bat.

”We didn’t want to play a National League game for obvious reasons,” Francona said. ”I didn’t want to do it, but I thought that was our best way to win.”

Athletics: OF Matt Joyce (lumbar strain) was placed on the 10-day disabled list. He missed 15 games in June with the same ailment. OF Nick Martini was recalled from Triple-A Nashville, where he has a 65-game on-base streak.

Indians: OF Lonnie Chisenhall (left calf strain), who was hurt Monday in Kansas City, will travel to Washington for a second opinion on his oft-injured lower legs. This marks his third DL stint with calf problems in a calendar year.

Athletics LHP Brett Anderson (0-2, 7.63 ERA) will be activated to face Indians RHP Shane Bieber (4-0 Authentic Anthony Averett Jersey , 2.97 ERA) in the three-game series finale. Anderson has not pitched for Oakland since May 18 because of a strained right shoulder.

Mike Singletary is back in football.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer has been hired as head coach of the Memphis franchise in the Alliance of American Football that will begin play next February.

Memphis joins Orlando and Atlanta as teams in the new league overseen by another Hall of Famer, Bill Polian, and TV executive Charlie Ebersol. Singletary's team will play home games in the Liberty Bowl.

Singletary previously coached for three NFL teams, including a head-coaching stint with San Francisco in which the 49ers went 18-22. He was the anchor of some staunch defenses in Chicago as a middle linebacker, and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998.

"I took tremendous pride in leading, teaching and competing during my playing days, and that experience prepared me for my coaching career," he said Thursday. "I enjoy working closely with players and doing everything possible to set them up for success on and off the field. This is an opportunity to do that again at the professional level, and I'm excited to get started."

The Alliance will feature eight teams playing a 10-week regular season beginning Feb. 9, 2019 鈥?the weekend after the Super Bowl 鈥?on CBS. There will be two playoff rounds and a championship game on the weekend of April 26-28.

Polian is the head of football operations for the league. The longtime NFL general manager and executive helped recruit Steve Spurrier to coach the Orlando club and Brad Childress for Atlanta, with Michael Vick as an assistant.

Now Roberto Perez Jersey , the Alliance has Singletary.

"Mike is a passionate, dedicated and intelligent leader," Polian said. "During his Hall of Fame career he played with an unmatched level of intensity that served as the catalyst for a historic, Super Bowl-winning defense (in the 1985 season). He brings the same leadership qualities to the sidelines. His experience as a player and head coach will be invaluable to Alliance Memphis players and will have them in position to succeed on and off the field."

Rosters will be culled from NFL cuts to the 53-man maximum after preseason, which Polian calls "the core of our constituency"; collegians who have gone undrafted, including underclassmen who have lost any remaining eligibility; players looking to return to the sport; and free agents from the CFL or elsewhere.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce got plenty of attention for his salty language during the Super Bowl celebration parade. The All-Pro says he tried to tone it down when he spoke inside the Phillies clubhouse on Monday.

But once Kelce started his speech Tre'Quan Smith Jersey Elite , he found that old habits die hard.

”I probably cursed a little more, actually,” Kelce said. ”At least through the start of the speech I made an effort to not curse and then that quickly faded.”

Article continues below ...
Wearing a red No. 62 Phillies spring training jersey, Kelce was the main guest during the first official day of team workouts.

”I played baseball all the way up until high school,” Kelce said. ”I threw my elbow out when I was like 12 years old, tore the plate off my bone, I didn’t play baseball after that.”

Kelce spent a lot of time watching pitchers throw their side sessions and said there was plenty he could take away from watching them interact with catchers.

”Baseball is an awesome sport ,” Kelce said. ”I’ve just been picking up some of what goes on between the pitcher and catcher because I think there are a lot of similarities between the mental chess game going on there as there is with me and Carson (Wentz) kind of assessing defenses and stuff like that.”

New Phillies manager Gape Kapler said that he spoke with Kelce separately and discussed the rapport Eagles players had with head coach Doug Pederson and the coaching staff.

”Jason and I discussed that and talked about how that communication was the two-way street,” Kapler said. ”He shared what a good communicator coach Pederson was and how that communication was critical in establishing and maintaining trust throughout the season.”

Kapler said he felt the message Kelce gave his players was one that will inspire them and one they needed to hear as they begin the season.

”I think there were 8 to 10 (things) to take away, but the No. 1 was it is OK to fall down, be fearless, get back up, be bold and do it all over again,” Kapler said. ”Champions have stories to share and they’re effective for a reason.

”Because they’ve been through the ups and downs Authentic Matt Duchene Jersey , they’ve displayed courage, they’ve come together as units, they know what it feels like to have people count them out and then to prove people wrong,” he said.

Kapler said the Phillies’ video production staff put together a piece for the team over the weekend that included some highlights from the other sports teams in the city, as well as some footage from the movie ”Rocky” spliced in and some highlights of their own players.

The relationship with the city is something Kapler wants the Phillies to embrace.

”We feel like we’re in a partnership with the city of Philadelphia, the fans of Philadelphia and certainly the sports teams of Philadelphia,” he said. ”You saw it today with Jason. He felt like he was a part of the Phillies family. He wore that `Be Bold’ T-shirt proudly Customized Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , then he put on a Phillies jersey and a Phillies cap.

”This is an All-Pro center on the best offensive line in football from a Super Bowl championship team. And here he was in our clubhouse today sort of backing the Phillies. I thought that was pretty remarkable,” he said.

The Giants announced the deal on Tuesday night. Terms were not disclosed.

The 30-year-old Stewart is Carolina's all-time leading rusher with 7,318 yards, and his 51 rushing touchdowns rank second in team history.

He immediately becomes the most accomplished running back on New York's roster. Orleans Darkwa, who led the Giants in rushing last season, is a free agent. Wayne Gallman and Paul Perkins are also on the roster.

"I am very pleased that we were able to make Jonathan a New York Football Giant Authentic Rashaad Penny Jersey ," general manager Dave Gettleman, who previously had the same job with Carolina, said in a statement. LOS ANGELES -- From his first big save to his flawless final minutes, Jonathan Quick showed the San Jose Sharks theyll have to do much better to dethrone a champion. Wholesale Jerseys China . Quick made 35 saves in his sixth career playoff shutout, and the Los Angeles Kings opened their second-round series with a 2-0 victory over the Sharks on Tuesday night. Slava Voynov and Mike Richards each had a goal and an assist in the Stanley Cup winners 11th straight victory at Staples Center since March, but the Kings all thought the win rested squarely on Quick, who delivered yet another dominant playoff performance. The Sharks superior speed and passing couldnt get anything past last seasons Conn Smythe Trophy winner. "We wanted to get off on a good foot, no matter how we had to do it," Quick said after his 25th career playoff victory, one shy of Kelly Hrudeys franchise record. "We got better during this game, but weve got some work to do." Game 2 is Thursday. Los Angeles opened the NHLs fourth all-California playoff series with its fifth straight victory after an 0-2 start to its title defence. Opening a playoff series at home for the first time in 21 years, the Kings got just enough offence from Richards and Voynov, the Kings promising Siberian defenceman, who had the first multipoint playoff game of his short career. But the Kings scorers directed any praise to their defence and Quick, who yielded just 10 goals in the six-game first round against St. Louis before frustrating the Sharks. "We didnt have our best first period, and it could have got out of reach quickly if Quickie wasnt back there making some big saves," said Richards, the Kings leading post-season scorer. "You could just tell he was seeing the puck well." Antti Niemi stopped 18 shots for the Sharks, who scored 15 goals while sweeping third-seeded Vancouver -- but Quick has playoff poise that the Canucks two goalies still havent achieved. With help from a few fortunate bounces, Quick stayed in control during long stretches when the Sharks largely dominated play, particularly in the frantic opening minutes and again while outshooting Los Angeles 16-4 in the third period. "Its about getting it done," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "When the night ends, you have to have the job done. You can have as many good looks as you want. You can be in all alone. You have to find ways to finish, and we have players that are very capable of doing that. We have players that are capable of scoring greasy, dirty, playoff-style goals." The Sharks and Kings are meeting in the post-season for the second time in three years, accentuating their already strong in-state rivalry. San Jose eliminated Los Angeles in 2011 on the way to the conference finals, but the Sharks years of steady excellence were surpassed by the up-and-down Kings when they raised Californias second Stanley Cup. The Kings had not-so-secretly hoped for a second-round Freeway Faceoff with the Anaheim Ducks, who lost to Detroit in seven games -- but after Game 1, its clear the Sharks have the champs full attention. Los Angeles beat San Jose 3-2 in both clubs regular-season finale to finish in fifth place in the Western Conference, two points ahead of the Sharks. Thats how Los Angeles got home-ice advantage in this series, starting at home in the post-season for the first time since the 1992 opening round against Edmonton. "(Quick) made the saves he had to, (but) we have to find a way to score," Sharks centre Joe Pavelski said. "We have to produce and create more movement. We feel we can play with them. We felt we played a good game. After tonight, everyone in this room feels they are beatable. Its not going to be easy, obviously. They are Stanley Cup champs, a team that has learned how to win." The Sharks began Game 1 at a furious pace, generating numerous early scoring chances and keeping the Kings on their heels. Quick immediately had to make a handful of remarkable saves before Los Angeles matched the tempo, and Voynov put the Kings ahead with 12.9 seconds left in the first period when he ripped a slap shot through traffic on a rush. Voynov scored two goals in the opening round against St. Louis, and both were game-winners -- including the clutch overtime score in Game 5 that allowed Los Angeles to finish off the series at home two days later. "He gets shots through, and theyre not going to give you much," Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter said of Voynov. Quick turned aside several good Sharks chances in the second period before Los Angeles doubled its lead. Voynov ripped a long shot that redirected off Richards for his seventh point in seven games. The goal gave the Kings their first two-goal lead of the entire post-season, and the Sharks had their first two-goal deficit of the playoffs. Shortly after the Kings first power play early in the third period, the puck ended up coming to a complete stop next to Niemi in his crease without the goalie knowing where it was. Scott Hannan dived to knock the puck away with his hand. NOTES: Sharks RW Marty Havlat missed his fourth straight game with a lower-body injury. ... Jarret Stoll was hit illegally by San Joses Raffi Torres late in the second period, and Los Angeles veteran centre didnt play in the third. Sutter declined to critique the call, but said the Kings "werent resting" Stoll while he sat out. McLellan said: "Clean hit. Not even a charging penalty, in my opinion." ... Sutter coached current Sharks Patrick Marleau, Hannan and Brad Stuart during his tenure in San Jose from 1997-2003. Marleau, the franchise scoring leader, was an 18-year-old rookie on Sutters first team in San Jose. The Hall of Fame defenceman told Landsberg that he believes fighting still has a place in todays game, but thinks staged fighting needs be outlawed. CHASKA, Minn. -- There are plenty of Arnold Palmer stories from the Ryder Cup, but this specific one took place the night before the opening session of the 1975 edition. Palmer was serving as United States captain that year for the second time, his first without also playing. In those days, it wasnt whether the U.S. team would win -- the only question was by how much. That night, Palmer gathered his players together, looked each one of them in the eye, and declared his expectations for the week.I dont want them, he said of the Great Britain and Ireland opposition, to make a point.Though his team didnt pitch a shutout that week, the convincing 21-11 victory serves as just part of Palmers legacy in the biennial contest. He was 2-0 as a captain, and his team never lost in a half-dozen appearances as a player. His 22 match victories remain the most in U.S. history. He is tied for the most points in singles matches and the most points in foursomes and is a half-point from also tying for the most in four-ball matches. The event was right up his alley. Competition, camaraderie, celebration -- he thrived on all of it.Palmer died on the eve of this weeks Ryder Cup, which is fitting, in a way. It gives the golf world a chance to celebrate him in an atmosphere that he wouldve cherished. It also gives the American team an opportunity to honor the icon by finishing this week the only way he ever knew -- with a victory. The guys in red, white and blue shouldnt require any extra inspiration. Losses in three straight Ryder Cups and six of the last seven should provide all the proverbial kick-in-the-butt theyd ever need. They shouldve already been jonesing to win this thing for just the second time this century. If they needed just a little more incentive, though, now they have it in a new rallying cry.Win one for The King. This is hardly an original concept. Four years ago, the European team mounted a brilliant come-from-behind victory on Sunday afternoon at Medinah, buoyed by the spirit of the late Seve Ballesteros, whose likeness pervaded the teams wardrobe and locker room. All the images of Seve around the clubhouse, the locker room and things like that, kept that spirit alive, said 2012 European captain Jose Maria Olazabal, himself a Ballesteros disciple. I think these guys did it also for him.Cannt you just see it now? An American team infused by the spirit of Arnie playing fearless, swashbuckling, aggressive golf, just as he wouldve done? Tears streaming down the faces of every U. Cheap Baseball Jerseys Authentic. . player Sunday evening as they understand this wasnt just a win for themselves or their country or even the greater good of whats in danger of becoming a one-sided competition, but for their collective hero?It would be a win for the ages, as magical and mystical as Europes triumph for their beloved Seve. Its going to be tough to do, but we are definitely going to draw inspiration from his spirits, explained U.S. captain Davis Love III. We already had pictures of him in our locker room and team room, and well add a few more. Hell be with us forever.Palmers memory will undeniably serve as an underlying theme throughout this week. Less than 24 hours after his death on Sunday, officials were still contemplating exactly how hell be honored, but at the very least, we can expect a video commemoration, a moment of silence, and pins worn by players featuring his logo.Love was quick to point out that none of these honorariums will be specific to the U.S. team; rather, each squad will join together in sharing this tribute.Thats classy and sportsmanlike and exactly the way it should be, but it doesnt mean the two teams should be equally invigorated by Palmers spirit.Just as Ballesteros, who was an integral part -- the most integral part -- of bringing these two sides closer together competitively, served as greater inspiration posthumously for his counterparts than his opponents, so too should Palmers death further motivate his own countrymen. If Palmer couldve given one last fiery speech to an American team, he wouldnt have implored them to try their best. He wouldnt have simply asked for some good swings and decent putts. He probably wouldnt have even settled for pleading for them to win.No, the man who won twice as a captain and six times as a player, without ever losing, would gather them together, look each player in the eye, and declare his expectations for the week.I dont want them, hed say, to make a point. If that doesnt inspire the Americans, nothing will. CHAPEL HILL, N. Vapormax Moc Midnight Fog .C. -- North Carolina struggled during a hurricane. Now the Tar Heels have to deal with the Miami Hurricanes.A debacle in a downpour led to an ugly first Atlantic Coast Conference loss of the year for UNC (4-2, 2-1), and now the Tar Heels know they have to be much better this week when they visit Miami (4-1, 1-1) -- which itself is stinging from a one-point loss to its most bitter rival. After looking at the film, North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said Monday, it wasnt any better. At least the Hurricanes could take some small consolation in that their loss to Florida State was competitive. The Seminoles blocked what would have been the game-tying extra point with 1:38 remaining in a 20-19 victory over Miami. You saw how we lost. You saw how they lost, quarterback Mitch Trubisky said. Were both going to come in hungry for a win.Nothing went right for the Tar Heels in a 34-3 loss to the Hokies , who proved much tougher than both UNC and the elements. Playing in a driving rain and amid gusting winds from Hurricane Matthew, the Tar Heels failed to score a touchdown for the first time under Fedora and were outgained by a more than 2-to-1 margin. And while some of those stats can rightfully be blamed on the weather -- UNCs 131 total yards, its fewest in a game since 1999, were in line with what some of their ACC neighbors gained in similar conditions -- they dont begin to explain how they were completely dominated by the Hokies. We were so inconsistent in everything we did, Fedora said. You could just pick and choose anything and something was going wrong. We just never did get going.Indeed, the Tar Heels just never looked anything like the team that rallied from 13 down in the final 6 minutes to beat Pittsburgh on a TD pass with 2 seconds left, nor the team that won at Florida State on a final-play 54-yard field goal to climb back into the national rankings.Trubisky threw his first interceptions of the year -- with the first ending a program-record streak of 243 attempts without one -- and was just 13 of 33 for 58 yards after hitting the 400-yard mark in his previous three games. Some of those struggles, of course, can be blamed on the heavy, waterlogged balls themselves.I just couldnt put what I want on it, he said.It didnt help that Elijah Hood was ruled out before the game because of an undisclosed injury from the previous week at Florida State, robbing the Tar Heels of their top tailback whose physical running style would have been helpful in the conditions. Fedora said he expects Hood to play this week against Miami, but added that he wont know anything until the team returns to practice Tuesday. You hope (having Hood) would help in the slop against the Hokies, Fedora said. But if he was playing like everybody else, it wouldnt have mattered, because it wasnt just one guy. The Chicago Cubs are relieved to escape New York after a humiliating four-game sweep by the Mets.It was terrible, it was bad, said Cubs catcher Miguel Montero following Sundays 14-3 loss at Citi Field. They outplayed us. Simple as that. We didnt play good enough. We didnt hit good enough. We didnt pitch good enough. I mean, overall, we were sloppy.Chicago has not been swept in a four-game series in New York since June 17-20, 1985 at Shea Stadium. But the Cubs (51-30) now return to friendlier turf for the Fourth of July. Theyre 25-11 this season at Wrigley Field and face an opponent theyve recently beaten up on with Mondays opener of a three-game Wrigley Field series against the Cincinnati Reds (30-53). A Thursday makeup against Atlanta follows. The Cubs swept three games at Great American Ballpark before running into a Mets buzz saw last weekend. Its been arguably the seasons roughest stretch for a team that sprinted to one of the best starts in franchise history and had the major leagues best record most of the way.But the four-game series that concluded on Sunday featured two one-run games and two Mets blowouts, including rough outings by ace pitchers Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester, named National League pitcher of the month for June just two days earlier.Lester, who was rocked for eight runs on nine hits in 1 1/3 innings of work on Sunday, insists theres no cause for panic. We werent going to be on thhat pace that we were on for the entire season, he said. That game featured 6 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball from Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg. Its tough. Its not fun, at all, Reds outfielder Jay Bruce told reporters on Sunday. He did the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in a season two years running, in 1906 and 1907, but played the last of his 12 Tests on the subsequent Ashes tour, despite being Englands leading wicket-taker. Rangpur Riders 154 for 5 (Shahzad 48, Mithun 38, Perera 2-26) beat Barisal Bulls 125 (Malan 30, Dawson 2-11, Gazi 2-12) by 29 runsScorecard and ball-by-ball detailsSix Rangpur Riders bowlers were among the wickets as they strangled Barisal Bulls batting to win by 29 runs in Mirpur. Cheap Salomon Shoes Outlet . Notching up their first win in four matches, Rangpur moved to third while Barisal ended their season in last place.Defending 154, Rangpurs bowlers never let Barisal settle. Sohag Gazi struck in the first over, removing Rayad Emrit, who had been promoted to open the innings, and dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim in his next over, before Naeem Islam sent back a dangerous-looking Jeevan Mendis, whose five-ball stay included two sixes.Fazle Mahmud added 39 with the opener Dawid Malan before he was dismissed on 21 by Shahid Afridis third ball of the match, leaving Barisal 68 for 4. Four balls later, Malan fell for 30 to Anwar Ali with the teams score unchanged. Rangpur had sent back half of Barisals batting within their first ten overs. Thisara Perera looked to hit out, and struck two sixes as he attempted to chase down a now improbable target before Afridi had him caught by Naeem Islam for a 17-ball 24.Liam Dawson then had Shahriar Nafees top-edging to short third-man before pinning Taijul Islam plumb in front with a yorker to finish with figures of 2 for 11. Rubel Hossain, wicketless till then, ended the match with successive, inch-perfect yorkers - the second one a slower version of the first - to rattle the stumps of Monir Hossain and Kamrul Islam Rabbi. In the first innings, Rangpurs 154 could best be described as a patchy performance. Opener Mohammad Shahzad scored a 40-ball 48 and added 76 for the second wicket with Mohammad Mithun after Soumya Sarkar fell for 17. Shahzads innings, which contained four fours and one six, ended in the fifteenth over after he missed a full ball from Emrit that struck him flush on the pad.The 63-ball partnership ended with the team 105 for 2, bringing Afridi to the crease. He played a typical three-ball innings: taking a single, hitting a six - a short ball dispatched straight over the bowler - and holing out to mid-off, off Kamrul. The pacer was expensive - although he took two crucial wickets - going at an economy rate of 9.75 in his four overs.Just as Rangpur seemed set to post a really big total, Mithun, who made a controlled 41-ball 38 attempted a lofted shot off Perera but failed to connect cleanly, only managing to hit it as far as deep midwicket. Perera then removed Anwar Ali as well, before Ziaur Rahman and Dawson added 16 in the last over - including a last-ball six - to take Rangpur to 154.Rangpur Riders have their future in their own hands. A win in their last match against Comilla Victorians assures them of a semi-final spot, while a loss will leave them waiting anxiously on other results to know their fate. Wholesale Salomon Shoes . I know its common knowledge that all players are responsible for their sticks. We witnessed that when Zack Kassian hit Edmontons Sam Gagner in the face after a missed check. BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns expect more from cornerback Joe Haden, defensive coordinator Ray Horton said Friday.I think he is having for him, he would probably say an average year, Horton said in his weekly media get-together. He would probably expect a little bit more from him(self).Haden does not disagree. To my standards, yes, Haden said. I feel like I should not really let people catch the ball at all.As the Browns best cornerback, Haden is assigned to cover the opposing teams best receiver. This season, that has included guys like Brandon Marshall (Jets), A.J. Green (Bengals), Antonio Brown (Steelers) and, this week,?Odell Beckham Jr. (Giants). If I wasnt guarding A.J. and Antonio, I think my numbers might be a little better, Haden said with a laugh. But I look forward to it. Got the contract. Thats what I do. I play corner. I feel like Im the best corner in the game, and I wouldnt want them to play anybody on the No. 1 guy but me.Haden, 27, signed a five-year, $65.5 million contract extension -- with more than $40 million guaranteed -- in May 2014. Since signing, he went to the Pro Bowl (for the second time) in 2014, then missed 11 games in 2015 with a concussion and finger issue. He has struggled through groin muscle pulls this season, missing three games. He had seven interceptions the two seasons prior to his extension; he has had six in the two years and 11 games since.Haden, however, is judged on expectations. After missing a good part of preseason and training camp following ankle surgery, Haden returned and was greeted with a slap of the hand from coach Hue Jackson, who called him the best in the league. Thats the type of play the Browns want.I would say for him average, just because we expect so much more out of him, Horton said of Hadens play this season. I am sure he does, too. He knows he can play at a very high level. He has done it -- the accolades and the respect that people have for him.Obviously, when you go against the Antonio Browns, the Odell Beckham Jrs., the A.J. Greens and all of the guys that he has bbeen against, they are going to catch some of theirs just because of the way the league is. Cheap Salomon Shoes For Sale. But we and he expect a lot more out of him, meaning he expects himself to be one of the top players in the league.Haden has had the misfortune of pulling both the left and right groin muscles in practice this season. He said the right one still bothers him, and Horton admitted Haden is not 100 percent. So I got to do what I got to do, Haden said. Got to make sure I play top down, keep the receivers in front of me.Im battling through. Definitely for my standards, I dont feel like Im playing to the best of my ability, but Im giving it all I got.Haden had two of his three interceptions in the same game, Sept. 18 against Baltimore, an example of what he can do when healthy. But he feels that since he was elected a team captain, he owes it to the team to play even if he is not 100 percent.[Its] not like Im having a bad year, Haden said, but to my standards I just feel like I should be the best corner in the league. And I dont feel like Ive been playing like the best corner in the league this year.He has not lost confidence, though. Haden said he is 1,000 percent certain he is a Pro Bowl corner if healthy, and still Pro Bowl caliber with a medium year.He also shrugs off the impact of his contract, which has him making $10.1 million this season, $11.1 million in each of the next two seasons and $10.4 million in 2019. Hadens $13.4 million in salary cap costs is a team high and ranks fourth in the NFL among cornerbacks.Lower-than-expected production combined with high pay sometimes means a player could be vulnerable to release. The Browns have shown no inclination that they may give up on Haden, but odd things can happen in the offseason -- especially with teams like the Browns (0-11) that are going with younger rosters. They can do what they do, Haden said. Two days ago, New Zealand celebrated victory in the second Test against Pakistan in Hamilton, a win that meant a 2-0 triumph in the series. At least, they celebrated inasmuch as they could: the next day eight of their Test XI were flying to Australia to defend the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. Australias players thought they had a quick format switch after the Adelaide Test, but New Zealand are two days and one international flight worse off.New Zealand also arrive with no Ross Taylor, who is recovering from eye surgery. They have no Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, or Corey Anderson, who are all out injured. Surprisingly, they have no Ish Sodhi, the legspinner who only once has faced Australia in an ODI earlier this year, and was Man of the Match, yet has been left out now. And of course, there is no Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Grant Elliott, Nathan McCullum, or Kyle Mills, all retired since the World Cup.We are missing some key players, New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said in Sydney on Thursday. Weve lost over 1000 one-day international games since the World Cup. To replace those is a challenge. But weve also got some exciting players that you guys wont know a lot about. Hopefully you will in a week or 10 days. Thats important for us to give them this sort of exposure, and find out which ones we want to keep backing and supporting.Among the new faces are legspinner Todd Astle, preferred in this series to Sodhi, and yet to make his ODI debut. Then there is Colin de Grandhomme, the seam bowler, who made a stunning Test debut against Pakistan last month but has only one ODI to his name, nearly five years ago. And then there is the 25-year-old fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, uncapped for New Zealand in any format, but a man who at his best can break the 150kph mark. With Adam Milne missing, Lockie gives us that point of difference in our attack, Hesson said. He hasnt played a huge amount up until that last two seasons. Hes got over a lot of injuries. Hes got to an age where those major issues tend to dissipate a bit, once you get to 24, 25. Hes a strong bowler, hes certainly quick. Id be very surprised if hee doesnt play at some point in this series. China Jerseys. es like Adam Milne, theyve both bowled over 150 at times ... Batting allrounder Hilton Cartwright is hoping for a debut in this series, and Australias leading ODI wicket taker in 2016 - John Hastings - has been left out due to the return of frontline fast men Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. And, like New Zealand, Australia have lost much ODI experience since the teams met in the 2015 World Cup final, with Michael Clarke, Mitchell Johnson, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson all retired.Since then, the teams have met once in a Chappell-Hadlee Series, when New Zealand won 2-1 at home earlier this year. And despite Australias 5-0 thrashing in a one-day series in South Africa in October, when they took an under-strength attack and rested Starc and Hazlewood, they will enter this series as No.1 in the world, as compared to New Zealand at No.3.Their one-day side is a heck of a lot more settled than their Test side, Hesson said of Australia. Their one-day side has been incredibly consistent, bar the South African series theyve been very good for a number of years. Currently ranked No.1 in the world, so I dont think the unsettled nature of the Test side will lead into the one-day side.We want to hang on to the Chappell-Hadlee. Weve won it the last couple of times and its really important for us. Australia are our big brothers and to win a bilateral series against them is important to us. If the byproduct of that is an increase in rankings then great. But we tend to look at the rankings at the back end of a season and see how youve gone, rather than it be a motivation for us.
