鈥?The Patriots’ loss in the Super Bowl likely will be the last game for New England’s two coordinators A.J. Green Youth Jersey , both almost certain to be named head coaches elsewhere in the next few days.Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels led a typical Patriots offensive showcase Sunday night, as New England gained 613 yards against Philadelphia. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was left answering questions on why his unit couldn’t stop Eagles, who gained 538 in the 41-33 victory.McDaniels is believed to be the Indianapolis Colts preferred candidate for their head coaching opening, while Patricia is expected to be take over the Detroit Lions. They have already interviewed for the vacancies and spent the week leading to the Super Bowl shrugging off questions about the future. They did the same again Sunday night, though each was noticeably subdued after coming up short in their bid to win back-to-back rings with the Patriots.“I’m not talking about that tonight,” said McDaniels, who has served a total of nine seasons as Patriots offensive coordinator under Bill Belichick. “I feel terrible for the guys in the locker room because they’re the ones that put in all that work.”It would be McDaniels’ second head coaching job. He previously served as the Denver Broncos’ coach during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Following a stop in St. Louis as the Rams coordinator in 2011 Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey 49ers , he returned to New England in 2012.Patricia’s star has been on the rise since he became New England’s defensive coordinator prior to the 2012 season. He has been with the Patriots since 2004, when he was hired as an offensive assistant. This would be his first head coaching job.“Right now it’s all about the game and Philly and my disappointment in the outcome of the game tonight,” Patricia said when asked about the Lions’ job. “This is really a difficult game where you are kind of all in. We didn’t do a great job of trying to execute. There is only going to be one team that is happy in the end.”He said he hasn’t begun to reflect on what he’s accomplished in New England, having been a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams.“Not at this current moment. I just feel very bad for our guys,” he said. “I really wanted them to be put in a situation that allowed them to be successful in the game. Obviously we can go back and reflect at a later time.”That time just may not be as a member of the Patriots’ staff.Regardless of his future, McDaniels said Sunday’s loss was one of the worst he’s ever been through.“You realize when you’re at this stage, there’s a lot of great players and coaches Aaron Rodgers Jersey Elite , and you never know when you’re going to get another opportunity. So it’s tough.” 鈥?The Tennessee Titans believe the potential reward from quarterback Marcus Mariota working with his third head coach in his fourth NFL season outweighs the risk of change.Or sticking with the same coach. So now the Titans are looking for a new coach to replace Mike Mularkey and build off the franchise’s first playoff win in 14 years to make them a true NFL contender.“There’s nothing more that I want for our fans than to bring a championship here,” general manager Jon Robinson said Monday afternoon . “I feel like it’s my charge to put the team in the best position to do that.”The Titans fired Mike Mularkey on Monday, less than 48 hours after a 35-14 loss to New England in the AFC divisional round. Mularkey revived a team with the NFL’s worst record over two seasons and led them to their first playoff victory in 14 years only to become the first coach let go after winning a playoff game since San Francisco fired Steve Mariucci after the 2002 season.Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk turned to Mularkey in November 2015 when she fired Ken Whisenhunt after 23 games . Mularkey went 2-7 down the stretch as the Titans finished 3-13 to land the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2016. That capped a 5-27 record over 2014 and 2015 that was the NFL’s worst.Mularkey led the Titans to back-to-back 9-7 records 鈥?their first consecutive winning records since 2007-08. He finished with a 21-22 record after a season in which the Titans cost themselves the AFC South title with a three-game skid in December and needed to beat the Jaguars, now in the AFC championship game, to reach the postseason for the first time since 2008.His devotion to an offense he’s known since being offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh between 2001 and 2003 may have cost him. He said Sunday he was prepared to move “full speed” ahead after talking with Strunk. He defended offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie’s play-calling, saying he was happy with Mariota’s development.Mularkey also said he didn’t anticipate any changes on his coaching staff a week after Strunk issued a statement on his job security . But talk of an extension since a 22-21 comeback win against Kansas City in the wild-card round ended Monday morning when Robinson and president and chief executive officer Steve Underwood told Mularkey he was being let go.Strunk called it “unfortunate” that they couldn’t find common ground on how to improve.“I also view this as an important moment for our football team as we try to make that next step to sustained success on the field,” Strunk said in a statement. Now Robinson will oversee his first coaching search with the Titans the seventh NFL team to change coaches since the start of the season. He was hired two days before Mularkey had the interim title removed in January 2016.“This boils down to doing what we think is best for the football team moving forward Tony Romo Jersey , taking the next step,” Robinson said.Robinson said interviews with candidates could be held as early as this week, though the Titans will confirm a candidate only after an interview is completed. The general manager declined to discuss Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, saying he couldn’t comment on coaches under contract.“This is a very attractive job for a lot of candidates,” Robinson said. “I look forward to working with whoever the next head coach is. I think that they will see that myself and Amy will be unified with them in our vision for the football team.”In Mularkey’s first full season, the Titans led the NFL scoring touchdowns inside the red zone, and they led the AFC while ranking third in rushing offense. Mariota also threw 26 touchdowns with only nine interceptions. This season Calvin Ridley Falcons Jersey , the Titans failed to take advantage of an AFC South in which Andrew Luck did not play for Indianapolis and two-time defending division champ Houston lost rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson to an injury early.Mariota also had his worst season yet with a career-worst 15 interceptions and 13 touchdowns. The run game, the basis of Mularkey’s offense, slumped to 15th in the NFL.Robinson said the key is finding the right coach to get the best out of the Titans’ roster, and the general manager isn’t worried about Mariota working with yet another head coach.“Marcus is a pretty resilient guy,” Robinson said. “He’s a very mentally tough guy. He takes a lot from the standpoint of ownership in things. I have zero concern in Marcus being able to adapt and learn, and do what’s best to get the offense going.AP Pro Football Writer Josh Dubow contributed to this report..

The Latest on the Miami Dolphins anthem policy (all times local):

10:15 p.m.

The NFL and National Football League Players Association released a joint statement Vontaze Burfict Youth Jersey , saying:

”The NFL and NFLPA, through recent discussions, have been working on a resolution to the anthem issue. In order to allow this constructive dialogue to continue, we have come to a standstill agreement on the NFLPA’s grievance and on the NFL’s anthem policy. No new rules relating to the anthem will be issued or enforced for the next several weeks while these confidential discussions are ongoing.

”The NFL and NFLPA reflect the great values of America, which are repeatedly demonstrated by the many players doing extraordinary work in communities across our country to promote equality, fairness and justice.

”Our shared focus will remain on finding a solution to the anthem issue through mutual, good faith commitments, outside of litigation.”

7:45 p.m.

Rashad Robinson, executive director of Color of Change, an online civil rights organization that has supported boycotting the NFL, points out that the Dolphins’ policy puts protesting the national anthem on the same plane as testing positive for drugs or domestic violence charges.

A positive drug test carries a potential four-game suspension, and domestic violence charges can carry a six-game suspension and even a lifetime ban for a second offense.

”It speaks volumes about what they think about black people,” Robinson said. ”What the Dolphins and owner Stephen Ross are doing is making a real claim that the injustices that people are speaking out against don’t matter.”

Robinson said he has been in touch in recent months with Ross’ Initiative in Sports for Equality, or RISE, to help find new leadership for the nonprofit. RISE is ”dedicated to harnessing the unifying power of sports to improve race relations and drive social progress,” according to the organization’s website.

”(Ross’) idea of harnessing people’s political voice is shutting it down Cheap Josh Jackson Jersey ,” Robinson said.

– AP National Writer Errin Haines Whack reporting from Philadelphia.

7:15 p.m.

The Dolphins say ”all options are still open” regarding the team’s decision to include protesting the anthem on the large list of violations considered conduct detrimental to the club and subject to a suspension of up to four games under a team policy issued this week.

The ”Proper Anthem Conduct” section is just one sentence in a nine-page discipline document provided to The Associated Press by a person familiar with the policy who insisted on anonymity because the document is not public. It classifies anthem protests under a large list of ”conduct detrimental to the club” that includes gambling, riding motorcycles and more, all of which could lead to a paid or unpaid suspension, a fine or both.

>NFL rookies are contributing as much as, or more than, ever nowadays.Just look at the statistics: With players such as running backs Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints and Kareem Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans (until he tore up his knee, anyway) and cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore of the Saints and Adoree Jackson of the Tennessee Titans making immediate impacts 鈥?to name a handful of examples 鈥?this season’s class ranks among the strongest since 2000.Based on data from Sportradar through Week 10 of each year in that span 鈥?before additional rookies get extra snaps as a result of injuries to veterans or because eliminated clubs want to figure out what they might have for the future 鈥?the 2017 crew shows up as No. 1 in rushing yards, No. 2 in TDs, No. 3 in receiving yards and No. 4 in tackles.“Rookies are being asked to do more right away than they used to be,” Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan said. “Teams are wanting to get more out of you sooner.”That’s true, and it’s part of a larger shift : More than 55 percent of all snaps are now taken by players 26 or younger, at least in part due to seeking relatively cheap labor. But the rookie trends are not simply a reflection of more playing time, because the total number of games started by rookies through Week 10 was the lowest since 2010. It’s that they’re making the most of their chances.Still, teams need to be wary of just how much they rely on the very youngest members of their locker rooms: An Associated Press examination of the past 10 seasons shows that the worst clubs inordinately rely on newcomers. The five teams with the most games started by rookies since the start of the 2008 season all ranked among the eight with the fewest victories: the Browns, Jaguars http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/eli-manning-jersey , Buccaneers, Raiders and Bills.Cleveland, with the fewest victories in that stretch, used by far the most rookies (114; no other team had more than 92 appear in a game) and let them make by far the most starts (247; no one else had more than 214).This season, the teams with the fewest number of rookies who made an appearance in a game through Week 10 were the Patriots and Steelers, with only four apiece. They happen to be tied atop the AFC with matching 10-2 records. At the other end of the standings, the 49ers (2-10) were leading the league with 18 rookies, followed by the Colts (3-9) with 13.The Browns (0-12) are part of the group that used a dozen rookies each. So is New Orleans, posting a league-high 31 rookie starts through Week 10, which goes to show that, as former Dallas Cowboys front-office executive Gil Brandt put it: “I don’t know that there is a hard-and-fast rule that says, ‘If you start four or five rookies, you’re not going to have a chance.'”Kamara, Lattimore, safety Marcus Williams and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk all are integral elements for the NFC South-leading Saints.“Guys seem to come in even more prepared now,” quarterback Drew Brees said Cheap Hayden Hurst Jersey , “than they ever have.”While that is not necessarily the case among offensive linemen, where the techniques required in the pros are quite different from the spread-dominated college game, rookies are excelling at skill positions.Kamara leads all nonkickers in scoring. He and Christian McCaffrey of the Panthers rank in the top 15 in catches. Hunt and Leonard Fournette of the Jaguars are among the league’s top seven rushers. Hunt, Kamara and Fournette are among the top 15 in total yards from scrimmage. Evan Engram of the Giants is tied for seventh among tight ends with 51 catches.Among players with at least 15 punt returns, Jackson and Jamal Agnew of the Lions, another rookie cornerback, are ranked in the top seven in average yardage. A quartet of rookies, including Lattimore and Tre’Davious White of the Bills, are tied for 11th in interceptions. Bengals defensive end Carl Lawson is tied for 21st with 7陆 sacks. So the question becomes: Why?“Kids are coming into the league better than the previous generation was. And they’re coming into college more prepared. Watching a high school kid pass-rush now, versus when I pass-rushed, it’s like, ‘Wow, that kid already knows how to do this?’ I had no idea how to do that when I was that age,” said Kerrigan, 29, a 2011 first-round pick. “The game is just evolving and guys … can give a team more at an earlier age.”Brandt Cheap Harold Landry Jersey , now an NFL draft consultant, pointed to schools’ improved nutritional and year-round weight programs.“The player that we’re getting coming out of college now is a much better player than we got 10 or 15 years ago,” Brandt said.Titans coach Mike Mularkey also pointed to the preparation received in the pros.“These guys being here in the offseason, with as much work as they get to have, they were thrown right into a role pretty quickly,” Mularkey said. “You’re talking about getting a lot of reps early, a lot of experience early. I think that has a lot to do with it.”AP Pro Football Writers Josh Dubow in Alameda, California, and Teresa M. Walker in Nashville, Tennessee, contributed to this report..

Nicholas Castellanos busted out of his slump in a big way.

Castellanos homered twice and Jose Iglesias hit a tiebreaking RBI single in Detroit’s two-run eighth Zack Martin Cowboys Jersey , helping the Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 7-5 on Saturday for their fourth straight win.

Castellanos hit a three-run drive in the third and a two-run shot in the fifth. It was his first multihomer game since Aug. 22 against the Yankees and fourth of his career.

The slugger went 1 for 21 with eight strikeouts in his previous five games.

”The ball jumped out of the ballpark,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. ”He hit one opposite. He can do that. When he starts getting away from that, starts pulling too much, he can struggle. Him going the other way is a good sign that he’s gonna be able to drive the ball both ways.”

The Tigers blew a 5-0 lead but recovered in time to improve to 7-1 against the White Sox this season. Buck Farmer (3-3) pitched a scoreless inning for the win.

Charlie Tilson drove in two runs for Chicago, which has dropped three in a row. Kevan Smith had two hits and scored a run.

Tilson hit a two-run single off Jordan Zimmermann in the fifth and Jose Abreu tied it at 5 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, but the Tigers went ahead to stay in the eighth.

Victor Martinez sparked the winning rally with a leadoff single against Jace Fry (0-1). Bruce Rondon then came in and walked John Hicks. JaCoby Jones popped up a bunt and Rondon dove for the ball, but it trickled out of his glove to load the bases.

With the infield playing in, Iglesias hit a dribbler up the middle that bounced off second baseman Yoan Moncada’s glove for a run-scoring infield hit. Rondon then threw four straight balls to Niko Goodrum, forcing in another run.

”Bruce ran into a little trouble,” Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. ”Great diving attempt on the catch and it came out of his glove onto the ground, causing a fumble.”

Shane Greene worked the ninth for his 19th save and fourth in four days.

Lucas Giolito pitched 5 1/3 innings for Chicago, allowing five runs and six hits. The right-hander is just 1-3 in his last five starts.

”Two bad pitches to a really good hitter kind of did me in for the game right there,” Giolito said. ”I’ve just gotta kinda lock in a little bit more.”

Zimmermann was charged with four runs and four hits in five innings in his first start after missing six weeks with a right shoulder impingement. He retired his first 12 batters before the White Sox broke through in the fifth.

”I got a little out of whack in the stretch,” Zimmermann said. ”It was the first time all game I was there. They started swinging early Marcus Davenport Saints Jersey , too, and we just didn’t make the adjustments quite quick enough.”

ROSTER MOVES

To make room for Zimmermann on the active roster, right-hander Artie Lewicki was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.

AMERICAN DREAM

Iglesias arrived late for the opener on Friday because he was sworn in as a naturalized U.S. citizen earlier in the day in Detroit. The 28-year-old infielder was born in Cuba and signed as an amateur free agent with the Boston Red Sox in 2009.

”Yesterday I got in about 5 or 5:30, all the way from Detroit,” Iglesias said. ”But it was worth it.”

TRAINER’S ROOM

Tigers: LHP Francisco Liriano (right hamstring strain) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

White Sox: OF Leury Garcia (left knee sprain) was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday night. … OF Avisail Garcia (right hamstring strain) will continue his rehab assignment with Charlotte on Sunday following a day off on Saturday. … RHP Miguel Gonzalez (rotator cuff inflammation) threw 25 pitches off the mound in his most rigorous workout since going on the DL in April.

UP NEXT

The Spurs seemed like a perfect free-agent destination as Rudy Gay searched for a guaranteed playoff berth after just one postseason appearance in 11 previous seasons.

That assurance was eroded by injuries this season, but Gay made sure two decades of success didn’t come to an end in his first year in San Antonio.

Gay scored 18 points, Manu Ginobili had 17 and the Spurs rallied late to beat the Sacramento Kings 98-85 on Monday night and clinch their 21st straight postseason appearance.

”It feels good, it feels great actually,” Gay said. ”This is what the regular season is for, to get to where we are now. This is a good feeling, something that I’m anxious for something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. It’ll be fun.”

San Antonio is fifth in the Western Conference despite only having star forward Kawhi Leonard available for nine games this season. The Spurs still have a slim chance of finishing fourth and earning home-court advantage in the first round with one game remaining. For now, they are just happy to make the playoffs.

”For moments we felt like the worst team in the NBA http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/odell-beckham-jr-jersey ,” Ginobili said, ”but we still managed to go close to 50 games and make it to the payoffs in a conference that is tough and talented and young and athletics. So, we managed to compete.”

Sacramento, which was eliminated from the postseason on March 11, led by 14 points before being outscored 38-19 in the fourth quarter.

Reserves Gay, Ginobili and Bryn Forbes combined for 25 points in the fourth quarter. Forbes finished with 11 points total.

”It’s tough when Rudy gets going, everything goes in,” said Willie Cauley-Stein, who finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Gay had eight points, five rebounds, an assist and a block in the fourth quarter.

San Antonio outscored Sacramento 50-25 after Gay entered the game with 6:38 remaining in the third quarter.

”The way I was growing up, you learn you never have anything given to you, so you’ve got to go get it on your own,” Gay said.

Forbes’ fast-break layup off a steal by Kyle Anderson gave San Antonio its first advantage at 68-67 with 10:21 remaining. Sacramento went back ahead seconds later when Buddy Hield hit a 3-pointer M.J. Stewart Youth Jersey , and the lead changed three times after that before Ginobili and Gay gave the Spurs’ the edge for good.

Gay and Ginobili had thunderous dunks in the final five minutes that helped San Antonio maintain small leads. Gay also had a 3-point play off a runner he tossed in and ripped the ball from Cauley-Stein while blocking the 7-footers shot.

A 3-pointer by Forbes and a layup by Ginobili 30 seconds later gave the Spurs an 82-77 lead with 5:23 remaining.

”He did an amazing job,” Ginobili said of Forbes. ”Not only to make shots it’s easy to see the 3s or the two big shots he got, but he played very solid defense, he was a pest chasing them around. We really changed the game when he was on the court.”

LaMarcus Aldridge added 15 points and 14 rebounds but was 6 for 19 from the field.

De’Aaron Fox added 21 points, and Hield had 17 for the Kings.

TIP-INS

Kings: Fox’s season-high for 3-pointers is six against the Spurs on Jan. 28. … The Kings’ last victory over the Spurs was Nov. 15, 2014 in Sacramento and their last win in San Antonio was Jan. 20, 2012. … Sacramento was without Iman Shumpert (left knee surgery), Garrett Temple (sprained left ankle), Skal Labissiere (sprained left ankle), Frank Mason (sore left heel) and Harry Giles (knee rehabilitation).

Spurs: San Antonio’s streak of playoff appearances is the longest active streak in the four major professional sports. The Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL are second with 12 followed by the NFL’s New England Patriots with nine and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB with five. … Aldridge had his 27th double-double of the season, the most he has had in three seasons with the Spurs. The 12-year veteran had 26 double-doubles in his inaugural season in San Antonio and 18 last season.

BEING REALISTIC

The Spurs are having to adjust to a new reality after being a championship contender for the better part of the last two decades.

Injuries to Leonard, Gay, Anderson, Ginobili Cheap P.J. Hall Jersey , Tony Parker and others almost cost San Antonio a playoff berth.

”Sometimes you’ve got to adjust your goals relative to your potential, the way you’ve been playing, the way the season is going,” Ginobili said. ”So, we’ve got to be realistic. Maybe we’re not the favorites this year or maybe it wasn’t going to be a 60-win season like the previous ones. After what happened in February and early March, we had to shift our expectations. We mentioned in many times, the goal was to make it to the playoffs. Once we clinched, then we may think about standings, but the way the West is this year, it’s crazy. Everything is so clogged so tight that at this point, we’re happy to have clinched.”

— Baker Mayfield had some typical rookie ups and downs. Tyrod Taylor was his steady self.

Mayfield threw his first interception in training camp while Taylor had a pair of touchdown passes to Jarvis Landry, who made a spectacular, one-handed grab on the second one, as the Browns held their annual intra-squad scrimmage Friday in front of Cleveland fans desperate to see if a team that went 0-16 last season has improved.

“There was some good Dak Prescott Jersey Elite , some bad,” coach Hue Jackson said of his team’s overall performance.

Same could be said of his quarterbacks.

The No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, Mayfield has been impressive so far during his first NFL camp. Although he’s expected to spend the season as Taylor’s backup, Mayfield has shown why the Browns believe he can lead them in the future.

The Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma took the field first and immediately led Cleveland’s second-team offense on a TD drive. He completed a 30-yard pass to C.J. Board and a 29-yarder to Devon Cajuste to set up rookie Nick Chubb’s 1-yard score.

But later, while going against the Browns’ defensive starters, Mayfield botched a handoff and was picked off by linebacker Jamie Collins, who hauled in a ball tipped at the line by defensive tackle Jamie Meder.

Mayfield also struggled toward the end of the hour-long scrimmage during a simulated goal-line situation Donte Jackson Jersey , taking two sacks while waiting for receivers to get open.

Despite a clumsy finish, Jackson was encouraged by Mayfield’s outing.

“I am not going to say that he tapered off,” Jackson said. “What our defense does down there is tough. We are not game-planning our defense right now. He did get off to a hot start and led the team down there to score, but that is what we expect. He threw some good balls. The guy is throwing the ball extremely well, and I think that you guys see the accuracy. He had a good day.”

So did Taylor, who connected with Landry on a 26-yard TD before hooking up with the playmaker on the day’s best play — a 36-yarder that drew a huge roar from fans battling bright sunshine on one of the warmest days of camp.

During a two-minute drill, Taylor fired the ball at Landry Walter Payton Jersey , who reached back and snared the ball with his left hand. He celebrated by launching the ball into the stands.

“It was kind of my fault, honestly,” Landry said. “I started bending (his route) in too early and the linebacker kind of got in the way and Ty kind of had to throw around him a little bit and that made me have to reach back and catch the ball. But Ty trusts me in those situations to make those kind of plays and I can’t let him down.”

It’s the type of play Landry made routinely in Miami while making 400 catches and three Pro Bowls over the past four seasons.

Jackson isn’t surprised by anything Landry does on the field.

“He does it every day. He works at it,” Jackson said. “The guy will stay after and go to the JUGGS machine and catch anywhere from 200-300 balls. That is just how important it is to him. As you see, if the ball is anywhere around him, there is a good chance that he is going to come up with it.”

NOTES: The Browns will be without starting DL Trevon Coley for several weeks because of a severely sprained ankle. Coley, who started 15 games last season Logan Woodside Jersey , got hurt on Thursday. Jackson described Coley’s injury as “one of those super-duper sprains.”… DL Caleb Brantley limped off with a thigh injury. … DB Damarious Randall got up slowly following a collision but was cleared and returned to the field. … TE David Njoku, who has had some problems with drops, hauled in a 34-yard pass from Taylor.

Alex Ovechkin is thrilled Isaiah Wynn Patriots Jersey , though hardly satisfied.

The Washington Capitals star is headed to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in his 13-year career, eager to put more distance between the Eastern Conference champions and a lingering perception of Ovechkin and the Caps as playoff underachievers.

”Finally we get what we want, be in the Stanley Cup Final,” the 32-year-old Russian star said. ”There’s still a lot of hockey to play.”

Ovechkin scored just over a minute into Washington’s 4-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final Wednesday night.

Braden Holtby stopped 29 shots to notch his second straight shutout. Andre Burakovsky scored two goals, and Nicklas Backstrom added an empty-netter to help the Capitals close it out.

Now, they’ve got to do it again against the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who are Western Conference champions in their inaugural season.

”I feel very happy, but we’re not finished yet,” Ovechkin said. ”We’ve been waiting for this moment a long time.”

The Golden Knights breezed through the Western Conference, scoring 43 goals and allowing 27 while going 12-3 to eliminate the Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets during an improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Vegas went 2-0 against the Capitals in the regular season, winning 3-0 at home on Dec. 23 and 4-3 at Washington on Feb. 4.

”It’s a great story. They’re a good hockey team, they have a lot of good players, players from other teams – I know a lot of people say we didn’t want those players, but we all did Lamar Jackson Jersey ,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said.

”The rules were the rules. They did a great job, they’ve been galvanized as a group. There’s nothing tighter than that first-year group because there’s no pre-conceived notion. Leadership’s not in place, nobody knows where to live, all those things are galvanizing.”

The Golden Knights’ top scorer during the playoffs has been former Lightning forward Jonathan Marchessault with 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists). Alex Tuch is second among league rookies with nine points (six goals, three assists).

Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who’s in the Stanley Cup Final for the third straight season and fifth time overall, has been a huge part of the team’s success, too, with a 1.68 goals-against-average and .947 save percentage.

Fleury and teammate James Neal return to the Cup Final after facing each other in the championship round last year – Fleury with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Neal with the Nashville Predators.

”They’re deep. They’re probably the most veteran team still playing in the playoffs. But they’ve done a fabulous job,” Trotz said. ”They’re a fabulous story. … It’s a great story, not only for our game, but for everybody.”

To reach the Cup Final for the first time since 1998, the Caps beat Tampa Bay three times on the road to run their record to 8-2 away from home this postseason.

The Lightning Kyle Long Bears Jersey , the NHL’s highest-scoring team during the regular season, didn’t have a goal over the final 159 minutes, 27 seconds of the series.

Ryan Callahan had Tampa Bay’s last goal at 33 seconds of the second period in Game 5.

”It’s fun. I’m more happy for that group than I am personally,” Trotz said. ”They did it together. Everybody has been in all year. We kept growing on and off the ice.”

And shoving aside a decade of playoff frustration.

”The playoffs are fun,” Trotz added. ”They got to the next level and realized they’re not going to be defined by anything they’ve done or not done in the past.”

But after Hall and the hockey world watched moving tributes to the Humboldt Broncos and the victims of two mass shootings, he was ready to accept the Hart Trophy with the proper perspective.

”It’s not all about you,” Hall said. ”It’s not all about winning awards. It’s about enjoying life and doing what you love.”

Hall was named the NHL’s most valuable player Wednesday night, becoming the first New Jersey player to win the award after edging Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon in a close vote.

The hometown Vegas Golden Knights also went home with four trophies in recognition of their incredible expansion season from a celebratory and occasionally somber evening at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Hall, who finished sixth in the league with 93 points, beat out fellow first-time Hart finalists MacKinnon and Anze Kopitar of Los Angeles. Hall got 72 first-place votes and 1,264 total points in the voting, while MacKinnon got 60 first-place votes and 1,194 points.

Hall likely got the nod over two worthy contenders because of the way he carried the Devils offensively while they rebounded from a last-place finish in the Eastern Conference and reached the playoffs for the first time in five years. Hall put together a 26-game points streak during the season, and he finished with 41 more points than rookie Nico Hischier Rashaan Evans Jersey , New Jersey’s second-leading scorer.

”If there is one thing I’m proud of, it’s to be the first Devil to win MVP,” Hall said. ”At the start of the season, people wrote us off. People have wrote me off, and it feels pretty good standing up here now.”

Indeed, the award is a sweet validation for Hall, who was traded by Edmonton to New Jersey for defenseman Adam Larsson just two years ago. The Oilers gave up on the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft, but Hall never gave up on reaching his potential.

He reached it on the Devils’ top line with Hischier, forming a potent scoring tandem with the Swiss rookie.

”I was a good player for a long time, and I feel what really brought me to the next level was being in Jersey, playing with my teammates, drafting Nico No. 1 overall and getting to play with him as a centerman all season long,” Hall said. ”I think probably the biggest reason why I’m up here today is No. 13 (Hischier) on my team, and the trust that (general manager) Ray Shero and (coach) John Hynes have put in me.”

While Hall closed the show with the biggest trophy, the Golden Knights were big winners as well.

Coach Gerard Gallant won the Jack Adams Award Vontaze Burfict Youth Jersey , and George McPhee was named the NHL’s general manager of the year in recognition of the Knights’ immediate growth into champions of the Pacific Division and the Western Conference.

High-scoring Knights forward William Karlsson won the Lady Byng Trophy for the player best combining sportsmanship and ability. Defenseman Deryk Engelland also won the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award for his actions during his team’s breakthrough season in the wake of the shooting massacre on the Las Vegas Strip shortly before their first game.

”It’s been a remarkable season,” Engelland said. ”(We had) a great group of guys. They did a tremendous job putting the group together. For myself, I know there’s a lot of other guys in our locker room that could be here right now in my place. It’s just an honor, and once we look back on the season, it’s pretty special.”

Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman won his first Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman, while New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal won the Calder Trophy in a landslide as the league’s top rookie.

Nashville’s Pekka Rinne won his first Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goalie, while Kopitar won his second Selke Trophy as the NHL’s best defensive forward.

Connor McDavid won the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHL’s most outstanding player in a vote of the players’ union membership, but the Edmonton Oilers star was not a finalist for the Hart, which he won last year.

New Jersey veteran Brian Boyle won the Masterton Trophy for perseverance and dedication to hockey after putting together an All-Star season in the wake of his cancer diagnosis and healthy problems for his young son.

The NHL also welcomed the survivors of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash onto the stage late in the show for an emotional tribute. Darcy Haugan, the late coach of the Broncos, was honored with the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.

Gallant was an obvious choice over Colorado’s Jared Bednar and Boston’s Bruce Cassidy after he masterminded the most spectacular expansion season in recent sports history. The Golden Knights went 51-24-7 and handily won the Pacific Division before winning 13 postseason games and reaching the Stanley Cup Final in their first playoff campaign.

Engelland was honored for his leadership and contributions to society. The veteran defenseman already was a Las Vegas resident when the Golden Knights acquired him, and he emerged as a public face of the team during its inspirational performances in the wake of the shooting.

Kopitar was named the NHL’s top defensive forward for the second time in three years after a standout all-around season.

Hedman beat out Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty for the Norris after scoring 17 goals and racking up a plus-32 rating in another dominant season for the Lightning.

Barzal was the runaway winner of the Calder after scoring 85 points in 82 games for the.

The New York Giants have released Brad Wing Roquan Smith Bears Jersey , who struggled as their punter last season.

The team announced his contract termination Saturday. He had been the Giants punter the last three seasons.

His 36.7-yard net average last season ranked last in the NFL among punters eligible for the final statistics. Short punts in games against Philadelphia and Tampa Bay proved costly in losses. He also had two punts blocked for the first time in his career.

Wing’s best season was in 2016. His 40.9-yard net average ranked 10th in the league and was a team record for a season.

Wing was traded to the Giants in 2015 after punting for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014.

A person familiar with the search tells The Associated Press that the Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement with Mike Budenholzer to become the team’s next coach.

The 2015 NBA Coach of the Year will replace Joe Prunty, the former assistant who went 21-16 in the regular season after replacing the fired Jason Kidd in late January.

The person confirmed the agreement with the former Atlanta Hawks coach on Wednesday. The person requested anonymity because the team has not made an official announcement.

The deal was first reported by ESPN.

The Bucks lost to Boston in seven games in the first round of the playoffs.

Budenholzer went 213-197 in five seasons with the Hawks, leading them to a franchise-record 60 wins and the Eastern Conference finals in 2015. He and the Hawks mutually agreed to part ways last month with two years remaining on his contract, allowing Budenholzer to pursue other opportunities.

The one with the Bucks may have been the best available Eli Manning Giants Jersey , thanks to All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and a new arena next season.

”There’s a massive amount of excitement around this team, because of the arena right there, because of this facility, because or our team,” general manager Jon Horst said recently from the Bucks’ training facility located across the street from the new arena.

”I think a coaching hire just adds to the momentum that we have as an organization, particularly if it’s the right person and it helps us win the way that we expect to win.”

The Bucks took a small step forward this season after winning 44 games, two better than last year, when they lost to Toronto in six games in the first round.

Before choosing Budenholzer, the Bucks also considered Spurs assistant Becky Hammon, who would have been the first woman to coach an NBA team Marcus Davenport Jersey , and interviewed former Cavaliers coach David Blatt, former Hornets coach Steve Clifford, and current Spurs vice president and former Pelicans coach Monty Williams.

”Xs and Os matter, you want someone who has a high basketball IQ, a high human IQ, a high character person, someone who’s a great communicator,” Horst said about some of the qualities he was seeking in the next coach.

Budenholzer was a longtime assistant to Gregg Popovich in San Antonio before taking the Atlanta job. The Hawks have been on a downward spiral since his second season and fell to 24-58 this season, worst in the Eastern Conference. They hired former 76ers assistant Lloyd Pierce and have the No. 3 pick in next month’s draft.

Kevin Anderson won the longest Centre Court match in history and earned a chance to try to collect his first Grand Slam championship Mike Gesicki Dolphins Jersey , edging John Isner 7-6 (6), 6-7 (5), 6-7 (9), 6-4, 26-24 in the semifinals at Wimbledon in a marathon between two big servers that lasted more than 6 1/2 hours.

The fifth set alone lasted nearly 3 hours as the match became a test of endurance more than skill. Anderson finally earned the must-have, go-ahead service break with the help of a point in which the right-hander tumbled to his backside, scrambled back to his feet and hit a shot lefty.

Only one match at the All England Club has been longer: Isner’s 2010 first-round victory over Nicolas Mahut, which went more than 11 hours over three days and finished 70-68 in the fifth. That was played over on Court 18, which now bears a plaque commemorating the record-setter.

The contest lasted so long, the day’s second semifinal didn’t finish. Novak Djokovic was leading Rafael Nadal 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9) in a compelling showdown filled with entertaining points that was suspended as soon as the third set concluded at just past 11 p.m., the curfew at the All England Club.

NFL

PLANO, Texas (AP) – Walt Coleman doesn’t see the revamped catch rule as a big change for NFL game officials because the veteran referee believes they’ve already been calling catches the new way.

If anything Cheap Dante Pettis Jersey , Coleman said he figure there will be fewer reviews of their rulings.

Officials gathered for their annual preseason meeting in the Dallas area.

League owners unanimously approved the changes in April – more than three years after Dez Bryant’s infamous catch that wasn’t in Dallas’ playoff loss at Green Bay, and just a few months since Pittsburgh’s Jesse James had a late go-ahead touchdown taken away in a loss to New England that damaged the Steelers’ hopes for the AFC’s top seed.

Essentially, the new rule eliminates the ground as a factor on catches while establishing three main criteria: having control of the ball; getting two feet down or another body part; and making a football move, such as taking a third step or extending the ball.

NEW YORK (AP) – DeMarco Murray is retiring from the NFL.

The 2014 Offensive Player of the Year made the announcement four months after being released by the Tennessee Titans.

Murray, 30, lost his job to Derrick Henry last season and was due to make $6.25 million in 2018 when the Titans let him go. He ran for 659 yards and six touchdowns last season, dealt with a knee injury late in the year, and missed the Titans’ final regular-season game and two playoff contests.

The Titans acquired Murray in a March 2016 trade with the Eagles. Murray had spent one year with Philadelphia after playing four seasons with the Cowboys. Murray was playing for Dallas in 2014 when he won the NFL rushing title and Offensive Player of the Year honors.

He was a dominant force that season for the Cowboys, who went 12-4 to win the NFC East. Murray ran for a league-best 1,845 yards, then signed a five-year, $40 million deal as a free agent with Philadelphia in 2015.

BASEBALL

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Chase Utley will retire from baseball at the end of this season, capping a 16-year career that included a World Series championship with Philadelphia and an elder-statesman role with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The six-time All-Star said he’s leaving to spend more time with his wife and two young sons.

Utley announced his decision at a jammed news conference in the basement of Dodger Stadium, with several of his teammates surprising him by crowding into the small Authentic Evander Kane Jersey , steamy room.

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw sat on the floor in a corner, with Matt Kemp, Rich Hill, Corey Seager, Austin Barnes and Kenta Maeda joining him. Pitching coach Rick Honeycutt looked on, while hitting coach Turner Ward used his phone to capture video. Yasiel Puig hung in the back, and 92-year-old Dodgers pitching great Don Newcombe listened in.

AUTO RACING

SPARTA, Ky. (AP) – Christopher Bell rallied from the rear of the field after a tire change due to a spin during qualifying, steadily worked his way up the field and passed Justin Allgaier with 17 laps remaining before holding off Daniel Hemric to win the 300-mile NASCAR Xfinity race at Kentucky Speedway.

Bell drove his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to his second victory this season.

Bell, who has three career victories in the Xfinity Series, moved within 17 points of co-leaders Elliott Sadler (12th) and Hemric. He trails third-place Cole Custer by 14.

Cup Series regular Kyle Busch (Toyota) led three times for a race-high 111 laps and won the first stage but finished third. Allgaier was fourth in a Chevrolet and pole winner Custer (Ford) fifth. John Hunter Nemechek won the second stage but finished seventh in a Chevrolet.

NBA

NEW YORK (AP) – Jeremy Lin’s injury-plagued stint in Brooklyn is over as the Nets agreed to trade him to Atlanta.

The move helps clear up the Nets’ logjam at point guard and sends Lin to another team that is also pretty crowded at the position. The Hawks announced they also acquired a 2025 second-round pick and the right to swap second-round picks in 2023 with the Nets, who acquired the draft rights to shooting guard Isaia Cordinier and a protected 2020 second-round pick.

Lin has a year and $12.5 million left on the contract he signed two summers ago.

NEW YORK (AP) – The Brooklyn Nets acquired forwards Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur along with a 2019 first-round pick from the Denver Nuggets.

The Nets also received a second-round pick in 2020 in the trade and sent guard I Several prominent players across the NFL have skipped mandatory minicamps this week, subjecting themselves to team fines out of concern for their contract status in a league where so little is guaranteed.

Everyone is accounted for in Minnesota, where good vibes from the top of the organization to the bottom of the roster can only help the Vikings in their attempt to better their NFC championship game appearance from last season.

”All these guys Jessie Bates III Jersey , they like to be around each other. So I think that’s part of it,” coach Mike Zimmer said. ”We’ve got a lot of really good guys on this football team who care about not just them, but they care about each other. It’s kind of just the way we do things.”

Savvy salary cap management steered by executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski has allowed the Vikings to put the majority of their stars in mutually beneficial multi-year deals, but outside linebacker Anthony Barr, wide receiver Stefon Diggs and defensive end Danielle Hunter have all entered 2018 on expiring contracts that must be addressed soon unless the Vikings are willing to let them become free agents and potentially price the club out on the open market.

Still, all three of them have been practicing with the team this week, clearly confident enough in their future earnings to opt for full participation over mild protest. Barr, for his part, missed one week of organized team activities last month, an absence he said was to secure an insurance policy in case of a severe injury that would derail the value of his next deal. He said recently his hope was to have a new contract in place by the beginning of on-field workouts in May, but that’s the closest anyone has come to even hinting about dissatisfaction.

Barr is among the 2014 first-round draft picks who’ve reached their first career crossroad, playing the fifth option year that the majority of teams have exercised for cost control. Then there are the post-first round 2015 picks such as Hunter and Diggs who’ve entered the fourth season of their rookie deals.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson Cheap Marcedes Lewis Jersey , Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan and Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack have created headlines around the league for staying home this week from minicamp.

”My job is to come in to work, just like you come in to work the same way,” Hunter said. ”My job is to come in and get on this field and play football.”

Clearly, he’s been listening to the head coach, as have many of his teammates.

”That’s one thing Zim has taught us since he’s been here: No one player is more important than the team,” Hunter said. ”So I guess that kind of grew into the program. The team is way bigger than one person. In order to help the team, you’ve got to do your job. And we want to be great. We want to be where we need to be. Last year, it wasn’t close to that, so we’ve got to work for that again.”

Rio -- Somebody had to be fourth, and its me. Cheap NFL Jerseys 2018 .One of Indias greatest Olympians brought the curtain down on a stellar career at the Olympic Shooting Centre in Rio on Monday. And his interaction with the press at the end of some heart-stopping final moments in his sport summed up his simplistic approach to two decades as one of Indias best.Abhinav Bindra leaves the biggest stage -- he had announced before the 2016 Olympics that these Games will be his last outing in competitive shooting - with a third final appearance in five Olympics outings in the 10m air rifle event. He came within a whisker of ensuring a podium finish, before a shoot-off saw him lose out to eventual silver-medallist Sergiy Kulish of Ukraine. In defeat, as in victory in 2008, Bindra maintained his characteristic equanimity. The shoot-off at the very end is a lottery. I decided I had to be aggressive, Bindra told reporters after the event, before giving an insight into how his ability to adapt has made him such a consistent shooter.?I shot a 10.0; the other guy shot a 10.5 and so it is. When I arrived this morning, the table I was sitting on collapsed and my sight [the device placed on top of the gun to help a shooter take aim] broke. I replaced it with the one I use in India, but that was okay. Yes, my a** is hurting, he shrugged and told reporters.?Three Olympic finals in my career (is) not bad. I didnt think I would reach even one. Sport is not maths. I am very surprised at how far I have come after London. It is easy to say I could have won a medal, but it didnt happen. Thats the reality, so lets accept it and move on.Despite missing out on a medal, Bindra was overall pleased with the fact that so many people were taking a renewed interest in the Olympics.?Were getting there. Theres more enthusiasm towards the Olympics now and I hope it continues to rise, he told ESPN. We shouldnt be fixated to one sport. The Olympics come once in four years, and every athlete works very hard towards that. Its so special in ones career.?Theres no disappointment (among the shooters). Everybody comes with expectations of their own, and is putting their best foot forward. There are so many athletes competing for just three medals, its bloody hard. Hopefully well come back with more (medals) in the next few days. When asked about whether his decision to retire was reversible, his reply was as much classic Bindra as an answer could be.I have a rifle on sale. Do you want it??No, I firmly believe in giving my place to another person. We have a lot of talent back home. I dont want to hang on for just the sake of hanging on.?Maybe Im better at something else. If Im bored at home, Ill probably just log on to ESPN.com. ORLANDO, Fla. Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys Cheap . -- A study of the racial and gender makeup of leadership and decision-making positions among the 128 Football Bowl Subdivision schools remain overwhelmingly white and male dominated. The report released Monday by the Institution for Diversity and Ethics in Sports (TIDES) of University of Central Florida found white men hold the vast majority of president, athletic directors and faculty athletic representative positions at FBS schools for the 2016-17 academic year.As somebody who has worked at an institution of higher education for 45 years I always hope that we provide wisdom and leadership for the country, particularly in difficult times, said TIDES director Dr. Richard Lapchick, the primary author of the report. When the leadership in college sports and college presidents dont reflect who the American people are visually then their ability to make sound judgments are not going to be as good as they would be if there were a diverse pool of athletic directors and others.Whites comprised 88.3 percent of the presidents, 85.9 percent of the athletic director jobs, 89.4 percent of the faculty representative positions and 100 percent of the FBS conference commissioner jobs at the beginning of the 2016-17 academic year. White males make up 75.8 percent of the presidents, 78.9 percent of the athletic directors and 90 percent of the faculty representatives. When Judy MacLeod was named as the Conference USA commissioner in 2015 she became the first woman to lead any of the 11 FBS conferences. The decision makers are responsible for hiring coaches where the diversity numbers have always lagged. Of the 128 FBS schools, 87.5 percent of the head football coaches are also white males.Thats actually why we started doing this leadership study is because had the coaching ranks stayed so stagnant for so long then it declined in basketball where they use to be pretty good, Lapchick said. Thats when I decided to look at who is making the decisions. The report also showed there was a slight decrease by 0.4 of percentage point from a year ago in women who hold any of the 388 campus leadership positions at the highest level of collegiate sports. The number of people of color holding campus leadership roles actually increased, but only by 0.7 of a percentage point from the 2015 report. To address the poor hiring numbers, the NCAA adopted The Pledge and Commitment to Promoting Diversity and Gender Equity in Intercollegiate Athletics last September. But the pledge, which was signed by several college presidents, has been widely criticized because its scene as non-binding and offers no sanctions for not improving the hiring record of university athletic departments.Lapchick has championed the NCAA adopting a hiring practice similar to the Rooney Rule used by the NFL, which requires that teams interview a diverse pool of candidates. He believes it should be called the Eddie Robinson Rule, named after the former Grambling coach and second all-time winningest coach in college football history. It would require a pool of candidates that is diverse so that the presidents and athletic directors would include people of color, Lapchick said. Now I will be the first one to say that the quality of the players is why teams win or lose. But good coaching by design and teaching can make a big difference. How else do you explain the fact that it is almost the identical personnel from last year to this year yet last years offence was amazingly productive and this years is amazingly inefficient? The opening drive for Montreal went for 11 plays, 81 yards, six-and-a-half minutes off the clock and a touchdown. But that was it. For after that blur of success the two-and-out plays became the consistency. So what has to happen? Kinda simple. Either the Als players have to adapt and master the offence run in Montreal or the Als offensive staff has to adapt to the players on offence and run what has worked for the players in the past. In college football it is a one-way street. The coach and coaches have a system in all three levels of football that they believe works because of previous success and the players run that system. Pro football is a bit different. There is more give and take, more communication to create success based on a coaching philosophy and the players ideas. Now I am not saying to run the Marc Trestman offence in full right now for the rest of the season. But I am saying what you have now is not working so it is time to incorporate some of it based on your Hall of Fame quarterbacks success experiences. With Calgary, two aspects of football became conversation points. First, how about Brad Sinopoli. A three-year quarterback becomes a productive receiver. These things dont happen very often and its significant as Sinopoli was looking at an experience of football at quarterback, now he has a chance for a career as a wide receiver. The second is Kevin Glenn or Drew Tate? Three injuries in a season plus two games has to be a concern for Tate. And its an opportunity for Glenn. It may be time for Glenn to take over the show. It will be time if Tate comes back and plays again yet cant finish a game he begins as a quarterback. Montreal has problems, Calgary has solved a few, Saskatchewan has none. I thought, okay, home opener in Edmonton a definite win as the Eskimos had made so many changes. Then Week 2 back home, Taylor Field, all that energy, definite win even though Calgary had played so well before. Then Week 3, on the road, Dome in Toronto, Argos coming off loss: no way. Boy was I wrong. Between Durant, Sheets, Dressler and others the Riders took the game over in the last three quarters. No doubt the Jamie Robinson interception for a touchdown that became a pass interference penalty changed the game, but so did Kory Sheets and his 178 yards rushing. Miami Dolphins Jerseys Cheap. The Riders have the Ticats home and away and football logic says they may be 5-0 going into their sixth game at Calgary with the Bye week before. Is Toronto a good 1-2 team or a team with a long way to go? I lean toward the latter, a team with a lot to improve upon. Two rookie players side-by-side on defence in Robinson at corner back and Jackson at defensive back have to improve fast for Toronto to activate the dominance they had last year. Two rookies side-by-side is a big risk that did not work out last Thursday night. With Winnipeg at Hamilton in Guelph, for Hamilton to win with two games against Saskatchewan on the horizon was immense. Could you imagine going to Regina at 0-3 as compared to 1-2? Better pass rush and better running game with Chevon Walker. Hes not just fast but can make people miss in tight areas. Walker can only get better and should remain the starter. Yet, a week ago it was Hugh Charles with a long touchdown run and last Saturday it was Chad Simpson with the same against the Tiger-Cats. And pass protection must improve as Winnipeg has seven more quarterback sacks. With 24 of 42 players either in their first of second year of CFL football, here in 2013 the Ticats are going through a gigantic learning process. How fast the new players learn and adapt will determine a good or difficult season. Now Winnipeg, well I thought it was more of Montreals inability than Winnipegs ability on defence that led to last weeks win. Kind of proven true this week. Still here is the list of special team mistakes for the Bombers in Week 3. 1. Mishandled snap on extra point. 2. Two kick-offs out of bounds that gave Hamilton the ball on the 45. 3. No yards penalty 4. A single on a misplayed Ticat kick-off. 5. Too many men on an extra point (declined). 6. Fake punt that lead to Ticats interception. That for the Bombers has to change and will by Friday night vs. Toronto and knowing Craig Dickenson as special teams coach, it will. Final game to be honest with you was a tough game to watch. Monsoon #2 for Edmonton which means not the best opportunity for quarterback Mike Reilly to excel and improve. B.C. slowly but surely took the game over the longer the game went on and will play Edmonton next week but this one will be in the dome in Vancouver so no rain anticipated. Edmonton missed Marcus Howard and Fred Stamps as both did not play but the issue is Edmonton scored only three points. Was it a good BC defence or poor Eskimo offence? Probably a bit of both. Another issue is the second blocked punt in two games allowed by Edmonton. As GM Ed Hervey said earlier in the week, "we are rebuilding." After three weeks of football teams now have three weeks of game film on all players. Now going into the fourth week, the question is: do we have the right players? And next week, that will be the question I try to answer. Any precedents for ball hitting spidercam incidents in international matches? Anon, AustraliaThe incident youre referring to was George Fords high kick to the Wallaby back-three in the Sydney Test. cheap nfl jerseys . The ball ricocheted into Courtney Lawes hands, England forced an attacking position and Billy Vunipola drove over for a try that put England ahead. Referee Nigel Owens explained to both captains that he had made a 50-50 decision to allow play to continue.Such events are virtually unknown - spidercams have only been in use in recent times - but a search through the archives reveals that an incident that occurred in the 1906 Wales-Scotland match at Cardiff is worthy of consideration. At the time, high social status was attached to attendance at Waless matches and even Cardiffs Chief Constable felt it his duty to be prominently seen when games were staged on his patch. He turned out in his finery as usual for the 1906 Championship clash, little realising he was about to play a part in the evolution of rugby unions laws.Early in the game the Scottish forward David Bedell-Sivright led a foot-rush into the Welsh quarter before toeing the ball over the goal line, only to see it rebound off the Chief Constable who was strutting his stuff on the field of play, five or so metres from the dead-ball-line. The Scot quickly adjusted his path and still won the race to touch down for what many believed to be a fair try.In the absence of any law relating to such circumstances, the referee ruled a dead ball on the grounds that he felt the ball would otherwise have rolled out of play. He felt the defending side should have the advantage and so a drop-out was awarded for Wales to re-start the match. There was sufficient controversy in the aftermath for the International Board to draw up fresh guidance. The good Chief Constable warranted his own footnote to the history of the games laws when the Board subsequently ruled that in future:1. If the Referee thought the ball would have gone dead he should have disallowed the try.2. If the referee thought a try would otherwise have been gained he should have awarded the try.3. If he were in doubt he should give the point against the side responsible for the ground.4. All officials and spectators should be regarded by the referee in the same manner as offending players on the home side.Different times, different circumstances, but if there had been spidercams at the time of the 1906 Law changes, then arguably Nigel Owenss decision in Sydney would have been absolutely right. wholesale jerseys . -- Kyrie Irvings last-minute 3-pointer helped seal another victory for Cleveland -- and the Cavaliers longest winning streak since LeBron James left. jerseys from china . - Levi Browns tenure at left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers is over before it even began. http://www.cheapauthenticjerseysnflchina.net/ . Diamonds head coach Lisa Alexander is wary of overseas netballers taking too many prime positions in the new all-Australian competition, but says the creation of extra teams means local talent wont be held back. Nike Air Max UK Outlet .Netball Australia has scrapped restrictions in which teams can have only one import player on contract for the yet-to-be-named league, which will replace the trans-Tasman Championships in 2017.Our concerns will be around the positions those imports take up, Alexander told AAP.(In 2015) the imports were played in the top seven week in, week out.We had three imports taking up goalkeeper positions so we only had two local goalkeepers to choose from. But Alexander said this was unlikely to be the case in the new competition.Even with unrestricted imports, we back our ability to provide support for the athletes of this nation, she said.We would not want to not have that international flavour.Former Diamonds captain and NSW Swifts veteran Liz Ellis is also confident the depth of Australian talent will win out.Its only going to strengthen Australian netball because athletes lift their game to maintain their positions, she said. The new teams - to join the Firebirds, Vixens, Swifts, Fever and Thunderbirds - will be supported by the Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney AFL clubs and the Melbourne Storm NRL club.New Zealand players will require special dispensation to cross the ditch and wont be eligible for the Silver Ferns if they play in the Australian competition. STATE COLLEGE, Pa. cheap jerseys . -- As he walked off the field, Blake Gillikin glanced down at his left hand and shook his head in disgust. Thankfully, his feet hadnt let him down. The Penn State punter needed them to chase down a snap that glanced off his bandaged left thumb and bounced close to his teams goal line. With more than 550 pounds of Indiana defenders bearing down on him, Gillikin scooped up the loose ball, accelerated to the right and booted a neat, unreturnable punt past midfield. Although officially a 22-yard net punt, Gillikins long right leg sent the ball on a 47-yard trajectory, preventing a big loss. The hidden yardage or the hidden parts of the game, a lot of people dont see that, special teams coordinator Charles Huff said.Gillikins impacted those areas all season for the No. 9 Nittany Lions (8-2, 6-1 Big Ten, No. 8 CFP) who will face Rutgers (2-8, 0-7) and the nations busiest punter Michael Cintron on Saturday.Averaging 41 yards per punt, Gillikin has dropped 17 of his 47 punts inside opponents 20-yard lines, forced 15 fair catches and has seven kicks over 50 yards. More importantly, the Nittany Lions have won the field position battle in eight of their 10 games this season and are forcing opponents to drive at least 76 yards on average every time Gillikin punts. You see some of the punts he kicks and youre like, `Wow, defensive tackle Curtis Cothran said. You didnt expect it to go that far but the ball just keeps sailing and keeps sailing.Plays like Gillikins scramble punt helped Penn State wrestle field position back from Indiana and primed a fourth-quarter comeback. Theyre why James Franklin couldnt wait to recruit a vaunted punter. But he had to wait until the NCAA restored the Nittany Lions to 85 scholarships in 2015. The wait included a 2-16 record in games where Penn State lost the field position battle.Meanwhile, Franklin kept his eye on Gillikin, a three-sport athlete who was booting 50- and 60-yard punts in high school playoff games for Westminster High in Atlanta and had a twin brother who was a long snapper. He quickly won the starting job previously shared by Chris Gulla and former Australian-rules footballer Daniel Pasquariello. It didnt take long for Penn State players to notice Gillikins big leg. He usually warms up by lining his toes up on the goal line and blasting high, hanging punts out to the opposite 40.He was an outstanding soccer player, Tyler Gillikin said. And when we started football in high school, his leg was extremely strong. Blakes always been the kicker. Now a long snapper for Northwestern, Tyler took up the skill as a way to get more playing time alongside his twin during their sophomore year of high school. Theyve combined for countless snaps, and misfires, over the years. Their grandfather sent Tyler the video of Blake mishandling the snap against Indiana last week for a laugh, but also for pride. That pretty much is in a nutshell what kind of athlete he is, Tyler said. His situational awareness was evident on arguably Penn States most consequential hidden play so far this season. After a high snap whistled over his head against Ohio State, Gillikin hustled back across his goal line with Buckeyes in pursuit and collapsed on the ball to salvage a safety rather than let Ohio State score a touchdown. It was a 5-point swing in a game Penn State won by 4 to burst into Big Ten championship contention. You have an athlete where when in the game certain things dont always got the way you planned or maybe not exactly what you said is going to happen -- they dont panic in those situations, Huff said. They allow themselves to still be in the moment, still be able to play and what happens is, you take a bad play and you dont let it become a catastrophe.---This story has been corrected to reflect that Rutgers record is 2-8, not 8-2. wholesale nfl jerseys . -- Charline Labonte couldnt have asked for a better homecoming. cheap jerseys from china . Thomas Pieters success on American soil has been such that you could be forgiven for thinking he would have a strong affection for the country. After spending formative sporting years at the University of Illinois, during which he won the 2012 NCAA individual title, the Belgian made his first big splash in the game as a record-breaking rookie at the Ryder Cup in Minnesota last week. But becoming the first European to score four points on debut in the biennial contest doesnt mean Pieters has taken a shine to the U.S., or will be joining the PGA Tour any time soon.We have talked about it a little bit, said the 24-year-olds friend Nicolas Colsaerts, another Belgian and the world No.124. I dont think he would want to be surrounded by Americans 365 days a year.People think that because he went to the U.S. that he only wants to play the PGA Tour, but he has shown at the Ryder Cup, with his shushing of the crowd [last Saturday] and the way he plays, that he doesnt like them that much. The years he was there were with [Illinois head coach] Mike Small were very precious and played an important role in his career. But I dont see him moving there and playing any time soon. He is happy living in Antwerp, where he has a life.Colsaerts may have reason to take a blinkered view about playing in America after aborting an attempt to combine playing on the PGA Tour and European Tour in 2014, having spent two difficult years trying to make an impact in the U.S.But Pieters has said he found adapting to life in Illinois difficult, becoming the only player Small has tutored to leave early and fail to graduate. You would have to be blind not to think about playing in the U.S., said Colsaerts. There is big money and events there, but if he goes out and plays he would need to move out of Europe.Colsaerts claimed that Piieters has been inspired by European flair players, while Europes captain Darren Clarke said that he saw the same level of potential in the world No. jerseys from china. 39 as he did in Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods?when they were young.Colsaerts, whose own sensational Ryder Cup debut in 2012 remains a highlight of his career, said there was more to Pieters than meets the eye.I wasnt surprised by how well Thomas did, he said. I have knocked around with him quite a lot in the last couple of years. He absolutely hates to lose and I knew he would fit well with the atmosphere and the players around him. People have a view that he is pretty cool, but there is a bit of fire in him.He will look back on this and it will sting, but there was nothing more he could have done. It was difficult not to give him A plus. It was a Ryder Cup performance that will be in the record books for some time. What next, then, for Pieters? He was due to arrive in Scotland Tuesday, where he will be staying in a house with Colsaerts and other players involved in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews.Danny Willett, Matt Fitzpatrick and Rafa Cabrera Bello -- other Ryder Cup players who started as rookies at Hazeltine like Pieters -- were among those listed as entrants, too, for the event which starts on Thursday. He is young, very driven and there is a big ambition to play in the big events, said Colsaerts, who would like to see Pieters, the winner of three European Tour titles, start to make his mark in the majors. His market value will have gone up, but he just needs to stay patient and keep doing what he does. PORT LOUIS -- The FIFA Congress opened Thursday with reduced expectations for reform after one area flagged for change was set to be delayed for at least a year. Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping . With undercurrents of politics back at play, representatives of FIFAs 209 member countries and its high-powered leadership under president Sepp Blatter met for the ceremonial opening of the two-day congress in Port Louis. Here, FIFA was expected to complete a two-year reform process prompted by one of its lowest periods -- the fiercely criticized 2010 votes where Russia and Qatar won rights to stage the World Cup, and Blatters re-election in 2011 following a scandal-ravaged campaign for his opponent. "Our congress is our annual opportunity for us, all the members of our great organization, to meet," Blatter said, opening the congress. "To meet? Yes. To vote? Of course. And to take important decisions for the future of FIFA." But the reform wont be completed when the work starts Friday in the Indian Ocean paradise. A possible vote of members on new rules to limit the age and terms of senior officials -- bringing FIFA into line with the International Olympic Committee -- was effectively dropped by FIFAs executive committee Tuesday ahead of the congress. Two other areas of reform, making salaries and bonuses of top earners, including the 77-year-old Blatter, more transparent, and allowing independent observers onto the executive committee, also wont be addressed. While accepting it needs to change after more than a century in existence, and recent cases of high-powered corruption, FIFA is unwilling to go far enough, critics say. The independent reformers brought in by FIFA two years ago and led by Swiss law professor Mark Pieth have already said the reforms proposed for this weeks two-day congress have not met the "highest standards." FIFA counters it is making progress, preparing a document for reporters this week that show, according to the body, that the majority of reforms have or are being implemented. The money-spinning and influential governing body has changed in places, strengthening its ethics committee, tightening financial controls and taking the decision on who wins the right to host the hugely profitable World Cup away from the executive committee and leaving it to the 209 member associations to vote on. Also, FIFA will elect a woman onto its top table, its decision-making executive committee, for the first time. But the age and term limits being dropped right before the congress have become a renewed reason for skepticism by those outside FIFA, and frustration for some inside. "It is two years that we speak about (age and term limit reforms)," UEFA President Michel Platini said hours before the congress, making clear his European confederation was not happy. "(FIFA) postponed for one year one decision that we speak about for two years and we will never find a solution." There were perhaps "politics" at play, said Platini, himself a likely candidate to lead FIFA one day. Blatter, who also briefly attended Thursdays UEFA meeting, had said this would be his last term when he was re-elected to the presidency in 2011, when criticism of FIFA reached a crescendo over corruption allegations relating to the presidential vote and the victories of Russia and Qatar to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, respectively. But the Swiss football leader has hinted that he again may seek re-election for another four-year term through 2019, when he will be 83. "Perhaps there is some politics inside FIFA," Platini said, "but if they dont want (the reforms), then they are not to say that it is Europe who stop the reform. That is my point to you. Because we followed (the reforms) from the beginning. The rest is politics." Platini also didnt think there would be progress on age and term limits in 2014. "No. No. Because it concerns Blatter. It concerns me. It concerns the age. It concerns people of 83 years (old)," Platini said. "It concerns the people who are judge and jury." Also on FIFAs agenda for Friday -- when the work begins -- is a proposal submitted by the Australian federation to make it easier for young players to qualify to play international football for an adopted country. The change would allow players to qualify for the new country if they have lived there for at least five years from any age. The previous regulation said the player had to live in the new country for five years after reaching the age of 18. The Palestine Football Association also has asked to address the congress on the problems facing football in its country. Blatter promised Palestinian football officials at Wednesdays Asian Football Confederation meeting that FIFA "will help you." "Its the will to do it," Blatter said.
