ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Cheap Vans Shoes China . -- Trevor Siemian, who has the inside track on the Denver Broncos starting quarterback job, did not throw in Tuesdays practice due to what coach Gary Kubiak described as a bruised right (throwing) shoulder.Siemian was in uniform for the workout, but he only took part in individual drills and was with the starting offense for its run-game work. He did not throw in any of the other practice periods. He just couldnt throw, Kubiak said following practice.Hes got a very sore shoulder ... he did take run game and stuff in practice and took individual. Well see where were at (Wednesday). When asked if Siemian is still expected to start Saturdays preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, Kubiak said: Oh yeah. I expect him to be there.?Siemian was injured in the second quarter of last weekends game against the San Francisco 49ers when he attempted a diving tackle during safety Eric Reids 42-yard interception return for a touchdown. Kubiak said Siemian was just being competitive on the play, but joked Tuesday that the QB is just not used to tackling.Siemian received treatment on the shoulder immediately following the game, as well as on Monday and Tuesday. He spent most of Tuesdays practice standing with the other quarterbacks, with his helmet on to hear the play calls.Hes going to be OK, Kubiak said.Reids interception was Siemians only major mistake Saturday, as he finished 10-of-14 passing for 75 yards, including 10 of 11 at one point. Siemian also led the offense on a 10-play, 86-yard touchdown drive to open the game.?He played well; he made a mistake, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said.?Its why Kubiak named Siemian the starter for this weekends game and why Siemian now has a chance, with a quality effort against the Rams, to keep the job for the regular-season opener against the Carolina Panthers on?Sept. 8.?Kubiak is evaluating Siemians progress throughout the week, as well as the performances of Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch, before deciding who will be the second quarterback into the game if Siemian starts as scheduled.Asked Tuesday when he might decide that, Kubiak offered: Probably the end of the week. I expect Trevor to be ready to go. Well see. Discount Vans Shoes . Anthony Calvillo, through 20 CFL seasons, was frequently invincible and largely stoic in the heat of competition. Following a lopsided 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, Paul MacLean told reporters that "theres a lack of focus, theres a lack of leadership and theres a lack of preparation" with his struggling team. The Swede became the first golfer to win the PGA Tours FedEx Cup and European Tours Race to Dubai in the same season. "It is still taking a little time to sink in what Ive achieved this week as was the case when I won the FedEx Cup but then it just kept getting better and better as the days went on and I am sure this will be the same," he said. Brisbane AFL skipper Tom Rockliff will almost certainly be at the Lions next year, according to his manager.Speculation has been rife that the club would look to trade Rockliff after their disastrous season that cost coach Justin Leppitsch his job earlier this week. But Stride Sports Managements Tom Petroro told SEN on Saturday that he is 99 per cent certain that the 26-year-old will be at the embattled club next year.Toms preparing to be at the Brisbane Lions ... hes working on his program that hes been given by them, Petroro said. Were not going to talk to any other clubs. The key people that I deal with (at the club) have all got good relationships with him and are all really comfortable in wanting him to be there.Petroro said reported divisions between Rockliff and Leppitsch and sections of the playing group were wide of the mark.Tommy and Leppa had a really good chat on Monday night (hours after he was sacked) ... they had a really good relationship, he said.I think that at any time captains will have challenging relationships with their coacch because thats part of their role. Vans Shoes Outlet. There are times where theyll butt heads. I reckon there were a few weeks when Tom and Leppa havent agreed on things but I can tell you when it ended they had a really good relationship.Rockliff had been actively seeking to extend his current contract, that ends at the end of next season, but fuelled speculation of a possible move when he withdrew a contract offer mid-year.Its been widely reported throughout the year that we had some troubles trying to re-contract Tom, Petroro said.Leppa was calling me and telling me that I had to get (the deal) done because it was important for the footy club. The biggest issue was we never received a counter-offer so I was negotiating with myself and then I put another (offer) in and didnt get one back.Petroro said he is comfortable with where Rockliffs contract situation sits after conversations with Lions chief executive Greg Swann. Jordan Spieth dazzled with his short game in a final round of 65 to win the Colonial by three strokes in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday. Discount Air Max Australia . Leaderboard Dean & DeLuca Invitational The American posted his eighth victory on the PGA Tour and his first in his home state, in the process passing a Tiger Woods mark and achieved his triumph wrapping up with three birdies. His back nine included six birdies and came in the third tournament since the world No 2 blew a five-stroke lead on the final nine holes last month when trying to win the Masters for the second year in a row. He will try to defend his US Open title in three weeks.Only Horton Smith (14) won more tour events by the age of 22 or younger. Woods won seven by the same age.Spieth reached the mark in emphatic fashion with a closing 65 to finish at 17-under-par 263 at Colonial Country Club, keeping ahead of Harris English. Spieth celebrates his victory after a superb final round Ryan Palmer and Webb Simpson were one shot further back on a day when scoring was good.Spieth told Sky Sports 4: It means a lot, the crowds were fantastic for me, for Palmer - and for Webb, but Ryan being a member here had all his buddies out so people were really rooting for both players. That (birdie at 16) was cool, everybody in the crowd standing up and cheering. I was really lucky on 17, being able to drop out and it landed in a matted area where I could get the club on the ball. Jordan Spieth says to win in his hometown of Texas was amazing and hailed the atmosphere after winning the Colonial by three strokes in Fort Worth, Texas. Eighteen, just get it down there, another bonus. It was pretty cool.Spieth curled in a 20-foot birdie putt at the 16th hole and there was no way back for English after the Texan, having had a free drop from in front of the grandstand at 17, chipped in for a remarkable birdie to move two clear playing the last.English finished with a par for a 66, allowing the leader the leeway to make bogey at the last hole. With his storming finish and his nearest opponents blown away, victory was assured in the final three holes and he had one more firework up his sleeve with a 35-foot birdie putt at the final hole. SAN DIEGO -- Mark Melancon thought back to 2010 or `11, when he was with the Houston Astros.Brad Mills came up to me before a game and said, `Hey, theres a situation tonight where we might put you in left field for a hitter, so go take some fly balls, the reliever recalled his manager telling him. I said, `Youre joking, right?Melancon never made it out there, not with the Astros then or with the Pirates now. But Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon gained attention June 28 when left-hander Travis Wood and right-hander Spencer Patton alternated between left field and the mound in the 14th inning against Cincinnati, and Wood got the final three outs of a 7-2, 15-inning win with right-hander Pedro Strop in left field. The moves were made of necessity, not Mad-ness. Might he employ the Maddon Medley with premeditation? You should show more creativity, he said. Everybodys afraid of injury all the time. God, man, drive a car in Manhattan -- you want to be afraid of injury, just walk down the street.Maddon didnt invent the strategy. As Philippe Cousineau pointed out in the Society for American Baseball Researchs Fall 2011 journal, the strategy was employed by the New York Mets Davey Johnson with lefty Jesse Orosco and righty Roger McDowell against the Reds on July 22, 1986, and by the Cubs Lou Piniella with lefty Sean Marshall and righty Aaron Heilman against St. Louis on July 12, 2009.Arizonas Shelby Miller, usually a starting pitcher, pinch ran for Zack Greinke in the 12th inning against Pittsburgh on April 24 and went to left field in the 13th.I could have seen putting Mo in the outfield. I would have never had a problem that. I probably would have raised a lot of eyebrows, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Mariano Rivera, who loved to shag flies in the outfield before games and sustained a season-ending injury when his right knee buckled on the Kansas City warning track in May 2012.Maddons spin-the-pitchers came about after he ran out of position players. Righty Joel Peralta relieved Trevor Cahill with two on and one out in the 13th, and Wood took over in left as Chris Coghlan came out of the game in a double switch. Joey Votto lined to leaping second baseman Ben Zobrist, who turned it into a double play, and Maddon exchanged a fist bump with Wood in the dugout.Patton reelieved to start the 14th, retired the leadoff batter, then went to left when Maddon wanted Wood to face Jay Bruce. Womens Air Max Australia. . Bruce grounded out, they switched places again, and Patton retired Adam Duvall on a grounder. After that first out, I was confused when I saw Joe coming out with a glove. He was bringing out Travis Woods glove, Patton said. I was just hoping that I didnt mess anything up. Pitchers are used to standing in the outfield and watching guys hit and get fly balls and run them down, but not in front of 40,000 when the game is on the line. After the Cubs burst ahead with five runs in the 15th, Wood worked around a two-out single to finish as Strop manned left -- without having any defensive plays.Having succeeded with the merry-go-round, Maddon is intrigued about the possibility of doing it in the seventh or eighth inning. Its something to be looked at down the road, where you could actually get a nice innings worth of work out of two pitchers, even two innings out of two guys based on the other teams lineup left- and right-handed, he said. Its something to be explored I think in a spring training setting. There is a limit. A manager cannot endlessly switch pitchers back and forth to other spots.A pitcher may change to another position only once during the same inning, Rule 5.10 (d) states.Baltimores Zach Britton, who got the All-Star Game save and leads the AL with 27, imagined what would happen if Orioles manager Buck Showalter asked him to go to the field.I think wed laugh for a second, and then hed be like, `Seriously, youre going out there, Britton said. If it was hit right at me, I think Id be OK. We spend a lot of time shagging out there, but its completely different obviously in a game situation, and the last time I played outfield was in high school. The Yankees Andrew Miller looked at it from another viewpoint: Hes been exclusively a reliever since 2011, all in the American League -- where there is a designated hitter.I think I could probably field OK. I think that maybe the pressure of a game situation might stress me out a little bit, he said. As long as I didnt have to get any at-bats, I think Id be all right. Focus on Footy has abandoned a shambolic campaign to shake up the Richmond AFL board but insists the short-lived push achieved something. Cheap Air Jordan UK For Sale .The group, led by Dr Martin Hiscock, had already backed down on calls for a board spill and instead hoped to gain four to five seats without an extraordinary general meeting at the club. But the attempted revolt was stared down by Tigers president Peggy ONeal, prompting the rebel group to suspend its campaign. While were disappointed that the board would not entertain any change, we believe we have achieved much, a spokesman said on Wednesday. We have put an incredible focus on football, which needed to be urgently addressed at Richmond. We contributed to the return of Neil Balme. We have shaken up the place. We did something. The wind was taken out of the groups campaign when the Tigers effectively beat the rebels to the punch in announcing Balme as their new head of football.Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale has said the club was already in talks with Balme before Focus on Footy called for the Richmond legends return. The rebel group met with ONeal and her board on Tuesday and were told none of the existing directors would step down. The time leading up to the AFL draft is really important for all clubs and our priority right now is running this club, and providing a stable environment that allows our CEO Brendon Gale and our new general manager of football Neil Balme to build a stronger Richmond on and off the field, ONeal said in a statement after the meeting.Im sure all passionate Richmond members and supporters want Brendon and Neil focused on delivering the changes we have announced to strengthen our football department and not be distracted by other issues.Focus on Footy had also insisted it would pay out the remainder of coach Damien Hardwicks contract if performance guidelines were not met next season.Hardwick is contracted until the end of 2018. ARLINGTON, Texas -- These rookie-led Dallas Cowboys keep winning without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.Ezekiel Elliott ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns, fellow rookie Dak Prescott threw for a score and ran for another TD, and the Cowboys beat the Cincinnati Bengals 28-14 on Sunday for their fourth consecutive victory.Zeke ran really, really well, but a big part of this game was the efficiency of our passing game, coach Jason Garrett said. Dak read things out well, threw it to the right guy, and was accurate. ... Hes grown with the experience he gets. Hes goes about it the right way. Were lucky to have him.Without Romo, who hasnt played yet after his fourth back injury in just less than four years, the Cowboys (4-1) have already matched their victory total from a year ago. Bryant has missed two games with a hairline fracture in his right knee. The Bengals (2-3) have a losing record a year after being 8-0 midway through the season.Everybody needs to take a deep look at their self, said Bengals cornerback Adam Jones, who was still known as Pacman when he played for the Cowboys.Romo could be ready to play when the Cowboys play their next home game Oct. 30 against Philadelphia. They are guaranteed to have a winning record then, going to Green Bay next week before their bye.Prescott had his first turnover, a fumble when he was sacked late in the third quarter. But the fourth-round draft pick was 18-of-24 passing for 227 yards, and extended his NFL rookie record to 155 passes without an interception to start a career.Elliott, on only 15 carries, became the first Cowboys rookie with three consecutive 100-yard rushing games. He also had three catches for 37 yards. It doesnt surprise me. Hell deal it up any way you want to have it, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. You saw that speed take care of itself out there.Elliott put the Cowboys ahead to stay with a 13-yard TD run on their opening drive. Then on their first offensive snap of the second half, Elliott busted through the middle and into the open on the way to a 60-yard score, punctuating the play with what might be called a JerryWorld jump, leaping up a few feet to ceelebrate with fans sitting in field-level suites in the end zone. Air Jordan From China. Prescott ran 5 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Then he was scrambling to his right before halftime when he threw on the run to Cole Beasley for a 14-yard score. It was a homecoming of sorts for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, who went to TCU about 20 miles away from AT&T Stadium. The 2011 second-round draft pick was visiting the Cowboys for the first time in a regular-season game. But the Bengals trailed 28-0 before Dalton threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell with about 10 minutes left. That duo hooked up again for a 5-yard score with 2:39 left. Dalton finished 29 of 41 for 269 yards. They got us in longer situations on third down and we werent able to keep moving the ball, Dalton said. They took some things away, and we werent able to overcome that.IMPRESSIVE FIRST-TIMERSThe Cowboys are the first team in NFL history to have a rookie quarterback with 1,000 yards passing and a rookie running back with at least 500 yards rushing in the first five games of a season.TYRONS RETURNDallas Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith returned after missing two games with back issues. Smith had missed just one game in the first five seasons of his career before his back tightened up late in the week before the third game against Chicago.CHASING DALTONDallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence made his season debut following a four-game suspension for violating the NFLs substance-abuse policy. While he didnt get a sack, he boosted a pass rush that sacked Dalton four times. Lawrence, who led Dallas with eight sacks last season, had a fistful of Daltons jersey on one play but couldnt pull him down.HOME GETTING SWEET AGAINThe Cowboys have won their last two home games, following an eight-game losing streak in their showplace stadium. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Wholesale Jerseys China . -- When Indiana tipped off its regular season home opener, it looked like the sixth-ranked Hoosiers returned from Honolulu empty-handed.Just five days removed from defeating then-No. 3 Kansas in the Armed Forces Classic, Indiana started Wednesday nights game flat on offense, slow on defense, and for much of the first 10 minutes, played mediocre basketball. The Hoosiers looked tired, searching for the momentum that carried them past Kansas. When youre coming off a great win like we had, you think the (next) game is going to be easier, but its not, Indiana coach Tom Crean said, adding that it felt like his team hit a wall.James Blackmon Jr. got Indiana (2-0) over that wall. Blackmon Jr. made five 3-pointers, scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 100-78 victory over UMass Lowell. The River Hawks led three times during the first 10 minutes and by as many as five points. But with 8:24 remaining, Indiana found its niche behind the savvy scoring of Blackmon, who had 20 points in the first half.Indiana outscored UMass Lowell (1-2) 32-15 during the final 8 minutes of the first half. The Hoosiers went into halftime having shot 60 percent from the field (21 of 35). Once Indiana returned true to form, resembling the same team that kicked off the season with a big win in Hawaii, the Hoosiers dominated for the remainder of the game. The Hoosiers had an assists on 23 field goals.Big men OG Anunoby and Thomas Bryant contributed to Indianas onslaught. Anunoby scored 15 points and Bryant added nine and the two combined for nine rebounds. The Hoosiers outrebounded UMass Lowell 46-24. Of the 46 rebounds, 19 were on the offensive end, leading to 15 second-chance points.Crean praised his squad for establishing physicality and speed, rather than attempting to establish their jump shots, or an offensive presence. And in doing so, it led to a defensive effort that contributed largely to the turning point of the game. Robert Johnson echoed his coachs sentiments.I think it all starts on defense, Johnson said. Once we get stops, defensive rebounds, we can get out in transition and play.Johnson scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and had five assists for Indiana. The Hoosiers led by as many as 29 points half way through the second half.Jahad Thomas finished with 16 points and Tyler Livingston had 14 for the River Hawks.Despite the 22-point loss, UMass Lowell coach Pat Duquette found very little to be disappointed about.I dont think we were too affected by the atmosphere. We dont play in arenas like this. We dont play in front of a crowd like this. I was happy that our guys didnt get distracted by that and stuck to the game plan, Duquette said. For us to score 78 points against a really talented Indiana team on their home court, thats a great sign. I think they are a legitimate top five team.BIG PICTURE: Indiana will have three more games to build on the big win over Kansas. The Hoosiers next three games are against mid-majors before they host North Carolina on Nov. 30. The Hoosiers other notable non-conference game comes on Dec. 17 when they face Butler at Bankers Life Fieldhouse before kicking off Big Ten Conference play against Nebraska on Dec. 28. Indianas final non-conference game is a showdown with No. 12 Louisville at Bankers Life on New Years Eve.CENTURY CLUB: With Indianas 103-99 win over Kansas and its 100-78 beat down of UMass Lowell, the Hoosiers scored 100 points in consecutive games for the first time since 2005. Wednesdays game marked the first time Indiana opened the season with back-to-back games with at least 100 points since 1992-93.TURNING POINTS: With 8:24 to play in the first half, Indiana opened a 14-2 run that would give the Hoosiers a comfortable halftime lead. And with 17 minutes left in the second half, the Hoosiers ignited an 18-2 run that ultimately put the game out of reach.UP NEXT:UMass Lowell travels to IPFW on Saturday.Indiana hosts Liberty on Saturday. Last year, 16 quarterbacks scored 250 or more points in ESPN standard scoring fantasy leagues. That pace pushed the fantasy quarterback position to score 8,301 points. It was the highest point total the fantasy quarterback position has scored dating back to at least the 2001 season. Quarterbacks also accounted for 21.8 percent of all fantasy points, the highest total in that category since at least 2001.This glut of impact performers is having an effect on how fantasy owners value quarterbacks, thus causing players at this position to be both overvalued and undervalued. The discussion surrounding the NFLs television ratings dip this season has spawned all kinds of theories. Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys Cheap . Among them: Has the league reached a plateau among its traditional fan base? After decades of growth, are there simply no more fans left to be captured? Those questions have put the NFLs international expansion into new light. As the league announces its schedule for next seasons London games, its goal is clear and public: Cultivate an international fan base that matches its stateside numbers.Speaking by phone this week, NFL executive vice president for international Mark Waller laid out the framework of a strategic plan that has become a mantra within the league. He hopes to develop a following that makes the NFL at least a top-five sport in five different regions or countries: The United Kingdom, Canada, China, Mexico and Germany. If you can do that, he said, and you measure the number of fans in those countries and add them up, that would give you a fan base that I would argue is the same as what we have in the United States. At the moment, according to Waller, the NFL counts between 180-200 million stateside fans. He estimates the league is about halfway there internationally, bringing its rough worldwide estimate of fans between 270 million and 300 million. Based on those numbers, the NFL is pursuing an audience of some 360-400 million people worldwide -- a big number until you remember that 7.4 billion humans inhabit the planet.New revenue is the obvious endgame, either as a net gain or simply to address a stagnant stateside market. At the moment, though, Wallers efforts are directed at building the structure and base for eventual monetization. To me, its always been a very much fan-driven set of goals, he said. If you build the fan base, everything else will flow out of that. The 2017 season will mark a new step in the International Series with four games in London, up from three in each of the past three years. This seasons games drew 242,373 fans -- including an NFL-record in London of 84,488 for a Week 8 game at Wembley Stadium -- but the league made its most notable progress in the local broadcast market. The BBC airs two NFL-related programs during the season, one on Tuesday nights and one on Saturdays. The latter, according to Waller, has brought the youngest demographic of any show on the network and the second-most ethnically diverse. The data there is good, he said. All the indicators that we have suggests that weve got good growth there and good momentum. Were finding that its real and domestic. Its not U.S. fans going over there for games and its not ex-patriots who are attending. Its very much a true U.K. audience. The NFL is now halfway toward a full regular-season home schedule in London, and there has been discussion about whether a franchise or a virtual franchise is the most likely consummation of its work there. Waller said a franchise is the ideal goal for maximizing interest -- The best expression of fandom is when you have your own team to root for, he said -- but its not clear if NFL owners prefer that direction. A virtual franchise would bring eight regular-season games to London, but spread out among multiple existing stateside franchises. As he works to prepare the market for a theoretical relocation, Waller compares the situation in London to the NFLs two-decade absence from Los Angeles. For 20 years, people talked about there not being an NFL team there, and there was always this speculation as to whether we would be there or not, he said. Ultimately, it happened when two or three owners decided it was time to make it happen. For now, the NFL will focus its efforts on staging recurring games in the five countries we noted earlier. The Week 11 game in Mexico City, a Monday night event between the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans played in front of 76,473 fans, was incredibly positive, Waller said. He would like to see a return to Canada; the last game there was in Toronto in 2013. Germany is home to arguably the highest level of domestic leagues outside of the Canadian Football League. The NFL, meanwhile, has pushed back its timetable for staging a game in China because of travel and other logistical reasons. But Waller still thinks it can one day place a one-off game there to boost local interest. One of the things we need to show is that we can become a sustainable part of the sporting calendar in these countries, he said. There was always a sense that we would come into a market, play a preseason game -- a friendly, so to speak -- and then come back a few years later. When you take real regular season games there, you show that you can be part of the sport calendar. There was a time when that type of growth was considered a bonus for the NFL and its revenues. Does this years ratings discussion add a level of urgency to the dynamic? Is international development now a matter of league sustenance? Given weve seen this season, its fair to at least start asking those questions. Detroit Lions Jerseys Cheap . Kimi Raikkonen has called on Formula One to review the way rules are enforced during races after his battle with Max Verstappen in Hungary.Raikkonen turned in an impressive drive in Hungary, fighting back from 14th to the top six. However, he spent much of his final stint cooped up behind Verstappen, who sternly defended on a number of occasions, including one incident at Turn 2 which saw Raikkonen lose a front wing endplate when he touched the Red Bull.Though frustrated that Verstappen was not penalised for what he perceived to be weaving, Raikkonen thinks the incident highlights inconsistency from the stewards room.Explaining the incident which led to contact, he said: For me, he moved once to the right, I decided to go left and the other car moved left. Once I decided to go and he decided to move back, I did everything I could to avoid contact...Once you decide to go one way you cannot move back. It was good to somehow half miss him. I lost a bit of the front wing, but there are rules but this weekend, and Im not just talking about what happened between me and Max, in many ways why do we have rules if stewards can decide its OK here and not OK here?If the rules dont apply all the time and to all the people, then we shouldnt have them. The pair nearly collided a second time later in the race, only for Raikkonen to lock up and bail out, narrowly missing Verstapppen as he moved across to defend. Washington Redskins Jerseys Cheap. The Finn was less than impressed with the teenagers driving on either occasion.?There are so many different rules these days that if you are in front, according to some rules you can move but when the guy behind makes a move, commits to something and the other guy decides to move, its difficult to avoid hitting him. In that second case I just managed to miss him but it was two times, in my feeling, he wasnt correct. To further emphasise his frustration about rule enforcement, Raikkonen pointed to the confusion which followed qualifying around 11 drivers not setting times within the 107% limit during Q1.The stewards or the people that decide how things go here, its a joke with the rules. Yesterdays qualifying was a good example with the 107% rule, but they applied it to the guys who didnt go through from Q1 but they didnt for the rest. How can you suddenly have the same rule and apply it in different ways during the same session? Can someone explain me how that works? But this is Formula One these days and something has to change, because this looks bad to people outside, to you guys and I think its not fair. Theres a rule and it should apply exactly the same way, every time, to everybody. NEW YORK -- Right in the middle of a pennant race, the New York Mets were robbed. Wholesale Cheap NFL Jerseys .In an electrifying finish to a pressure-packed game for the Mets, center fielder Ender Inciarte took away a three-run homer from Yoenis Cespedes for the final out of Atlantas 4-3 victory Wednesday night.Tremendous catch, New York manager Terry Collins said. One of the best youll ever see. With two runners on in the bottom of the ninth inning, Cespedes made a bid for a game-winning homer by launching a drive to deep right-center. Inciarte raced a long way to the wall and timed his jump perfectly, catching the ball just above the orange line atop the fence.Probably the best catch Ive ever made, Inciarte said. I thought that ball was gone right (off) the bat. But it was the last play of the game. I was just giving everything Ive got.And with that, the Mets were handed another damaging defeat by the last-place Braves after squandering a three-run lead.Rather than regaining sole possession of the NL wild-card lead, New York remained tied with San Francisco and St. Louis for the leagues final two playoff spots. The Giants lost to the Dodgers, and the Cardinals were routed in Colorado. At his locker, a disappointed Cespedes would answer only one question from reporters.I knew I hit the ball well, he said through a translator. I knew there was a good chance it was going to make it out, but he made a better play.Once he landed, Inciarte held up his glove in excitement and then kissed the ball as he jogged toward the infield to greet teammates. Cespedes turned and walked slowly off the field.Guys were flying over the railing, Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said. It just erupted. I dont think you could have won the World Series and had a bigger explosion than that right there. Some fans in the stunned crowd of 32,187 at Citi Field still had their hands on their heads as they filed up the aisles toward the exits.I still cant wrap my mind around that, how he did that. Just incredible, Braves slugger Freddie Freeman said.Bartolo Colon and Jeurys Familia failed to protect a 3-0 lead for the Mets. An error by normally sure-handed first baseman James Loney helped Atlanta tie the game with an unearned run in the eighth.Inciarte had an RBI groundout against Familia (3-4) in the ninth, sending the feisty Braves to their fifth straight victory. They completed their second consecutive three-game sweep at Citi Field, including one in June.Ian Krol (2-0) struck out pinch-hitter Kevin Plawecki with the bases loaded to end the eighth -- moments after Cespedes nearly put New York ahead. His high fly to deep left field was knocked down by a leaping Matt Kemp at the top of the fence, with the ball glancing off Kemps glove and dropping to the ground for a double.Cespedes thought he had a go-ahead homer. He tossed his bat aside and started to trot before digging for second when the ball stayed in play.Jim Johnson got three outs for his 17th save.Asdrubal Cabrera and Rene Rivera homered to help the Mets build their 3-0 lead. Colon carried a three-hit shutout into the seventh before ex-Met Anthony Recker started Atlantas comeback with a two-run homer.Seeking a five-out save from his All-Star closer, Collins turned to Familia with two runners on. But the Braves surprised New York with a double steal on Familias second pitch, and Kemp made it 3-all with a sacrifice fly.FABULOUS FREDDIEFreeman extended his hitting streak to a career-best 25 games and has reached base safely in 41 straight for Atlanta.TRAINERS ROOMBraves: RHP Mike Foltynewicz threw about 25 fastballs in a bullpen session and said he felt normal. Matz would likely be limited to around 50-60 pitches, with rookie RHP Gabriel Ynoa lined up to follow. Matz has not pitched since Aug. 14. ... INF Wilmer Flores (right wrist) remained out of the lineup and is not expected to play Thursday night against Philadelphia. Flores has been sidelined since Sept. 10, when he was injured in a home-plate collision at Atlanta. Hes received two injections, the second one on Monday, but still was unable to swing a bat Wednesday, according to Collins. ... TORONTO — The Winnipeg Jets will have something to prove to themselves when they face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

The Jets know they cannot afford to continue to play the way they did in losing 6-2 to the Blackhawks in Chicago on Thursday to end a season-best six-game winning streak.

“We just weren’t prepared Cheap Jamal Adams Jersey ,” Winnipeg right winger Blake Wheeler said. “We came in and had a pretty bad morning skate. We just weren’t prepared to play the game. We were just really slow.”

The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, will be coming into the game after a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders in Brooklyn on Friday night. It was the 17th time they have scored at least five goals in a game.

The Maple Leafs will have Leo Komarov, who has been out with a left leg injury, back in the lineup on Saturday. He was ready to return Friday, but Toronto decided to give him another day rather than have him play in back-to-back games.

The Jets (47-20-10) and the Maple Leafs (47-24-7) have both clinched playoff spots.

Winnipeg hopes to use the game against the Blackhawks as a warning.

“It’s definitely humbling,” said Jets right winger Bryan Little, who scored his 200th career goal Thursday. “You realize that when we don’t play our game, and we’re not ready to play, a game like that can happen. It’s a little bit of a wake-up call.”

“There wouldn’t be a piece of the game that was at the level that we’ve played at, or at the level you need to play at to win in the NHL Kyle Long Jersey ,” Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said. “I don’t think it’s any one thing. The elemental part of our game is to play at a certain rate, a certain pace. We were well off that (Thursday).”

There could be another aspect to the game Saturday that will give the Jets incentive. The Maple Leafs defeated the Jets 7-2 in Winnipeg in October in the first game of the season.

By defeating the Islanders, the Maple Leafs reached 101 points for the season.

“I think that’s real important,” Toronto coach Mike Babcock said. “I always say, I’ve had a lot of 100-point years over the years, and I think it’s a real indication of a good hockey club. It’s hard to get 100 points, you’ve got to be a good team to do it.

“I’m excited for our guys that have worked hard to get good enough that they can do that. Like I said, we’ve got four more opportunities to get better and get ready.”

Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist Friday.

“A good two points for us,” Matthews said. “Obviously, they’re a high-offensive team. They’ve got a lot of skill and firepower as far as that goes so you’ve got to find a way to contain them and obviously we’ve got some guys who can put the puck in the net as well. Probably not a fun game for the coaches, but probably a bit more fun for the players.”

Matthews has scored at least one point in each of the five games he has played since returning from a shoulder injury.

“He’s not as good as he’s been and he’s going to be better Kyle Long Jersey Youth ,” Babcock said. “I thought tonight was another step. I thought his first game and this game — it takes you a while to get your game back. He’s going to get a real test (Saturday), which is real positive for him. Back-to-back games, a good grind, good for his conditioning. He’ll just keep getting better.”

As important as Matthews is to the Maple Leafs, he said the depth of the team is important.

“I think that’s one of the key things for this team is that we’ve got a lot of depth,” Matthews said. “A lot of guys who are skilled, can make plays and put the puck in the net so it definitely makes it tough in terms of matching up for the opposing team. Like you said, we’ve got three different guys (with 30 goals) on three different lines so it definitely helps.”

Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. showed another sign he is prepared to put aside his contract talks for now.

Beckham reported with fellow veterans for the opening day of Giants training camp. Beckham didn’t talk to the media Wednesday as veterans arrived at the Giants’ headquarters adjacent to MetLife Stadium.

The 25-year-old Beckham will earn $8.5 million entering the fifth and final season of his rookie contract. If the Giants do not designate him as a franchise player, he’s eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. He wants to be the NFL’s highest-paid player.

First-year coach Pat Shurmur plans to be cautious how his three-time Pro Bowl receiver will be used, especially in training camp. Beckham broke his left ankle in Week 5 and never returned as the Giants finished 3-13.

”As we go forward, he’s coming back from injury Aaron Rodgers Packers Jersey ,” Shurmur said. ”We’re going to continue to be smart about what we give him from the start.”

Shurmur punted when asked if Beckham’s contract status would be a distraction to the team.

”We don’t talk about contracts,” he said. ”The focus for me is to keep the players thinking about football.”

Shurmur takes over a team ranked 31st in total defense and 21st in offense last season. The offense should benefit from running back Saquon Barkley, the second overall pick in the draft.

”He’s very smart, he gets it,” said Shurmur of the Penn State standout. ”In a lot of ways that’s a great place to start. He’s super-talented. The thing that stuck out to me is he embraces work. The mind is always looking for an easy way out and he doesn’t.”

The Giants significantly upgraded their offensive line by signing left tackle Nate Solder from New England. That moves Ereck Flowers, the Giants’ top pick in 2015, to right tackle. Flowers struggled to protect Eli Manning in the passing game.

Second-round pick Will Hernandez out of UTEP should vie for a spot at guard.

The defense, which will have a 3-4 look this season under new coordinator James Bettcher, will be bolstered by the additions of free-agent linebackers Alec Ogletree, Kareem Martin and Connor Barwin, who was signed Wednesday.

Manning returns for his 15th year and is buoyed by the prospects of throwing to a healthy Beckham; second-year tight-end Evan Engram; the speedy Sterling Shepard Jordan Howard Jersey Youth , who caught 59 passes as a slot target; and Barkley.

”I’m excited about the guys who are on this offense.” Manning said. ”The receivers, the offensive line, the playmakers we have. It looks good on paper, but we have to make sure we do what we need to do on the field.

”There’s always expectations and no one has higher expectations than I do. You have to make the most of it each and every season.”

Never in the 92-year history of the franchise had the Giants lost 13 games in a season. For the first time in 39 seasons, they will be led by a new head coach and general manager (Dave Gettleman) after Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese were fired.

Gettleman, however, is undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

NOTES: Olivier Vernon, who will move from DE to a pass-rushing outside LB, said he will leave the national anthem policy to the commissioner and the NFL Players Association. Vernon was the only Giants player to take a knee every game last season. . Former special teams coordinator Tom Quinn is back. He is helping the club while current coordinator Thomas McGaughey deals with ”health issues.” …There is some concern whether supplemental draft pick Sam Beal will play this season. The cornerback hurt a shoulder in rookie practices this week and might need surgery.

Antonio Senzatela’s most important pitch came early.

Senzatela worked out of a first-inning jam en route to throwing seven scoreless innings in his first start of the season Jamal Adams Jets Jersey , Nolan Arenado hit his National League-leading 22nd home run and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 8-1 on Tuesday night.

Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon had three hits, including his first homer since June 20. Trevor Story had an RBI triple for the Rockies, who have won five of their last six games.

D.J. LeMahieu added a run-scoring double for Colorado, which has beaten the Giants in 14 of the past 16 games at Coors Field dating to Sept. 7, 2016.

Senzatela, recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Albuquerque, struck out four and walked none while limiting the Giants to three hits but two of them came in the first inning. He got out of the two-on, two-out jam by retiring Pablo Sandoval, getting him to pop-out on a 2-0 changeup.

”To get out of that inning with a zero, stranding those runners, was huge,” Senzatela said through a translator. ”I settled down pretty nicely and I’m glad I gave the team a chance to win.”

Arenado said Senzatela’s ability to work out of first inning trouble helped set the tone for the rest of the game.

”Getting out of that first inning with no runs was huge,” Arenado said. ”I feel like sometimes we always give up a run in the first and lately they haven’t. He was just great, pounding the zone, throwing strikes getting ahead of guys. It was awesome. Our pitching in general lately has been huge for us and I think that’s why lately we have been playing better.”

Senzatela started in the spot vacated by struggling Jon Gray, who started for the Rockies in their season opener but was optioned to Albuquerque last weekend.

Senzatela (3-1) made the team out of spring training and began the season in the Rockies’ bullpen before being optioned on May 2 to Albuquerque, where he went 3-1 with a 2.15 ERA in eight starts prior to his recall. As a rookie last season http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/tremaine-edmunds-jersey , Senzatela had most of his success as a starter, going 10-5 with a 5.03 ERA in 20 starts.

Chris Stratton (8-6) went 5 2/3 innings and allowed eight runs on 11 hits, including Blackmon’s solo shot in the first inning as well as Arenado’s three-run drive.

”His fastball command wasn’t real sharp tonight,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. ”Fastballs missed their spots there. That’s usually his forte, he commands it so well. He threw some good fastballs to Arenado and the changeup stayed in the middle. He wasn’t real sharp with his command. He threw strikes but he needed to work the edges.”

The Giants broke through for a run on Alec Hanson’s RBI single in the eighth off reliever MikeDunn.

The Giants were trailing 3-0 when Arenado broke the game open in the fifth with a three-run homer. Stratton walked LeMahieu to start the inning and Blackmon singled before Arenado drove a 3-2 offering over the left-center field wall.

GIANTS NEMESIS

Arenado has driven in 90 runs in 100 career games against the Giants, the second most among active players. Matt Kemp leads with 93 career RBIs against the Giants. Said Arenado: ”I think they bring out the best in all of us. They bring out the best in me – three World Series rings and they’ve always been one of the top tier teams in our division. It’s always a tough place to play and I always want to beat them because I always feel like they’ve beaten us in the past, a lot.”

TRAINER’S ROOM

Giants: The team’s starting rotation is nearing full strength again. Manager Bruce Bochy said that RHP Johnny Cueto is slated to be reinstated from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday, when he’s scheduled to start against the St. Louis Cardinals. Cueto was placed on the DL, retroactive to April 29, because of a right elbow sprain. RHP Jeff Samardzija is slated to start Saturday’s game against St. Louis after being reinstated from the 10-day DL. Samardzija went on the DL after leaving a May 30 start against Colorado following one inning due to tightness in his pitching shoulder.

Rockies: RHP Chad Bettis has gone on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his right middle finger. Bettis left his last start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers after three innings because of the finger injury. Senzatela was recalled from Albuquerque to fill Bettis’ roster spot and started Tuesday against the Giants in the place of RHP Jon Gray, who was optioned Saturday to Albuquerque.

UP NEXT

Giants: LHP Andrew Suarez (3-4, 4.18 ERA) is coming off a strong outing in which he allowed one run on seven hits over six innings in a 2-1 win against Arizona.

Rockies: LHP Tyler Anderson (5-3, 4.23 ERA) has gone 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA in eight previous starts at Coors Field this season.

鈥?Watch out, New England. Here comes Sacksonville.Get ready, Philly. The Vikings are sailing into town.Tom Brady and the big game-tested Patriots (14-3) square off against the sack-happy Jacksonville Jaguars (12-6) next Sunday in the AFC championship game in Foxborough, Massachusetts 鈥?with the winner headed to the Super Bowl.“It’s been an awesome year,” Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said Derick Brassard Penguins Jersey , “and we want to keep it going.”In the NFC, Nick Foles and the resilient Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) host Case Keenum and the surprising Minnesota Vikings (14-3) 鈥?in a matchup of teams that overcame losing their starting quarterbacks.“They count us out all the time,” said Minnesota’s Stefon Diggs, whose 61-yard touchdown catch as time expired Sunday gave the Vikings a stunning 29-24 victory. “Nobody thinking we can do it. This game was over. I don’t stop playing till the clock hit zero. That’s it.”The Vikings open as a 3 陆-point favorite against the Eagles, while the Patriots open favored by 9 1/2 in their game.Being here is nothing new, of course, for New England, which has advanced to the Super Bowl in three of the past six seasons. For fresh-faced Jacksonville, however, this is all rare territory. The Jaguars are playing in the conference title game for just the third time in franchise history, and first since losing to Tennessee during the 1999 season. Jacksonville is also one of four franchises to never play in the Super Bowl.“I’m sure there will still be tons of people that are going to disapprove or talk negative or hate or do whatever they want,” Bortles said. “But we get to keep playing. We get an opportunity to go play in Foxborough for another week, so I’m just honored to be able to do this and especially with this group of guys.”And, it has all come full circle for Tom Coughlin, who was Jacksonville’s coach the previous time the franchise got this far in the postseason. He went on to win two Super Bowls with the New York Giants 鈥?both against Bill Belichick’s Patriots 鈥?but is now the Jaguars’ executive vice president of football operations. He helped assemble a squad with coach Doug Marrone that has been powered by a tenacious defense that ranked second in the NFL during the regular season in sacks. After a few ho-hum games, Bortles, running back Leonard Fournette and the Jaguars offense showed it isn’t too shabby Odell Beckham Jr Jersey , either, outslugging Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers in a stunning 45-42 victory Sunday.“Obviously, with what they have on their side of the ball, it’s a good team and we know they’ve got a good offense,” Bortles said. “We knew we had to keep scoring.”There’s also this neat nugget: Jacksonville’s first AFC championship game appearance came during the 1996 season 鈥?against New England, which went on to play in the Super Bowl under then-coach Bill Parcells and lost to the Brett Favre-led Green Bay Packers. The Patriots have made it to the AFC championship game for seven straight seasons, clinching this trip with a 35-14 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night.“The reality of the NFL is what we did this week will have nothing to do with what happens next week,” Brady said. “We’re going to have to go repeat it, so you’ve got to get right back to work, right back to the process of trying to figure out how to break down our opponent.“Everyone’s got to feel good physically and mentally and go out there and try to cut it loose one more time in a huge game.”The Patriots know how to do that, and they’re masters of tuning out distractions. Despite a published report during the week that raised questions about the relationships between Brady, Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft, New England was all business on the field against the Titans.“It’s pretty incredible to be a part of that,” Brady said. “I think the thing is that we don’t really take it for granted around here. I know how hard it is to get to this game. We’re very blessed to do it.”Meanwhile, Philadelphia is playing for the NFC title for the 11th time, but hasn’t won it since the 2004 season 鈥?when the Eagles went on to lose to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.“We’ll be ready for next week,” defensive tackle Fletcher Cox said. The Eagles used steady play by Foles and a late goal-line stand by their defense to beat the Atlanta Falcons 15-10 on Saturday. It set up Philadelphia’s first conference championship appearance since the 2008 season. And it comes despite the Eagles losing starting quarterback Carson Wentz Tremaine Edmunds Bills Jersey , a leading MVP contender, to a season-ending knee injury last month.“Our team never wavered, defense did an amazing job, special teams,” Foles said. “That’s just been the story this year is that we just all stuck together.”The same can be said of the Vikings, who entered the season with Sam Bradford as their quarterback and had big playoff hopes. But he went down with a knee injury after the first week 鈥?and it appeared Minnesota’s dreams might be dashed.Enter Keenum, an unheralded and undrafted backup who ended up having the best season of his career. To top it off, Keenum combined with Diggs on one of the most stunning plays in NFL playoff history, a winning TD that sent the Vikings to their 10th NFC title game and first since the 2009 season.“I don’t even know right now,” Keenum said. “I have no words.”And now, the Vikings, Eagles, Patriots and Jaguars are all one win away from the Super Bowl..

Trumaine Johnson sees a lot of the tantalizing potential of his old team in his new squad.

The New York Jets cornerback Tremaine Edmunds Jersey Youth , who helped the Los Angeles Rams reach the playoffs last season, was feeling predictably optimistic as he and his teammates reported to the team’s facility Thursday for the start of training camp.

”You’ve got to have faith,” Johnson said. ”Just bringing that winning culture from where I was last year, I can see it. I really can. Just got to wait and see.”

Johnson was the Jets’ biggest free-agent acquisition this offseason, signing a five-year, $72.5 million deal in March that included a $20 million signing bonus and $34 million in guaranteed money. That came after the cornerback spent his first six NFL seasons with the Rams, who went 11-5 and snapped a 13-year postseason drought with Johnson a key part of the defense.

He’ll be the No. 1 cornerback in coach Todd Bowles’ unit in New York, which hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2010 season. Johnson saw signs from afar that the postseason absence might not last much longer, particularly because seven of New York’s 11 losses last season were by 9 points or less.

”I was watching them,” he said. ”They were losing close games and they beat some playoff teams. They’ve got all the potential in the world to be a playoff team.”

Most NFL teams feel the same at this point in the year, brimming with confidence before the dog days of camp start kicking in, with expectations for some becoming increasingly more tempered.

But the Jets like the approach the players are taking at the start.

”I can see the atmosphere has changed and the season could be great,” guard Brian Winters said. ”As far as attitudes, we’ve got great attitudes in the locker room. That vibe’s a lot better than in the past.”

New York is coming off its second straight 5-11 season under Bowles, who helped establish an improved environment around the team last year despite the losses.

The positive outlooks might be attributed in large part to moves general manager Mike Maccagnan made in the offseason. Along with Johnson, the Jets signed a number of free agents who could play major roles this year Myles Garrett Jersey Elite , including linebacker Avery Williamson, running back Isaiah Crowell, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, center Spencer Long and kicker Cairo Santos.

”I think it was a good start,” wide receiver Jermaine Kearse said of last season. ”This year, it’s about winning games. You want to be competitive, and that’s important, but in this league, it’s about winning games and being productive in that area. For us to take the next big step is to be able to finish games.”

All eyes this summer, however, will be on the quarterbacks as 39-year-old veteran Josh McCown, comeback kid Teddy Bridgewater and first-round pick Sam Darnold all compete to be the guy leading the huddle in Week 1 of the regular season.

”I think it pushes each one of them individually,” defensive end Leonard Williams said. ”I’d be happy if any one of them were the starter for the season.”

McCown is the incumbent and Bowles has said he will open camp as the starter while taking the bulk of the first-team snaps. But Bridgewater, signed in March after four seasons in Minnesota, could give McCown a run if he’s fully recovered from the severe knee injury that cost him the bulk of the last two years.

Then, of course Walter Payton Bears Jersey , there’s Darnold.

The No. 3 overall pick in the draft is considered by many to be the future face of the franchise. And that future could be now. Darnold will be given every opportunity to beat out both McCown and Bridgewater for the job, and he showed positive strides in offseason workouts and minicamp.

”I thought Sam got better each day throughout OTAs,” Kearse said. ”And I have no doubt that he’ll have the same attitude and same mindset he had in OTAs coming into camp.”

Darnold just needs to get to camp first.

The rookie hadn’t reported with the rest of his teammates as of early Thursday afternoon as his agents and the Jets worked through the final details of his contract. There didn’t appear to be much concern on either side, though, with most expecting Darnold to be signed and ready to participate in the team’s first practice Friday afternoon.

That’s when the road to potential success begins for the Jets, and nose tackle Steve McLendon believes it comes down to three things for him and his teammates.

”No. 1, it’s being focused,” he said. ”No. 2, it’s being driven. And, No. 3, you understand you only have one life.”

NOTES: Long, coming off knee and quadriceps injuries last season with Washington, said his quad is doing ”great” and knees are ”feeling better than they have the last few years.” He added that he might be eased into practices, depending on how the training staff wants to approach it.

鈥?Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller expressed uncertainty over his future upon returning Monday to Halas Hall after a series of serious knee surgeries. What Miller did know was he’s been through a nightmare that nearly resulted in the amputation of his left leg. It was a nightmare with a happy ending.“That was very real, a couple wrong turns away from actually happening,” Miller said about losing his leg. “I had a ton of care Jordan Howard Bears Jersey , a lot of people helping me out throughout that entire process. But we were a couple minutes away from having that be real.”With tears in his eyes at times, Miller spoke to reporters about the ordeal resulting from a season-ending dislocated knee suffered Oct. 29 at New Orleans.Miller had surgery for a popliteal artery behind the knee in order to restore blood flow.At the time of the injury, Miller wasn’t told of the chance he’d lose his leg, but he knew from the way it was filling up with blood that it was serious.“I remember, before I got into the emergency surgery, the last thing I was telling the doctors was ‘Please, save my leg!'” Miller said. “Because I knew that something wasn’t quite right just in the way my leg was feeling and the way it was filling up. I knew we had issues.”Miller injured the leg making a touchdown catch, but later replay negated the TD and it was ruled he failed to maintain possession throughout the process.“Forever be a touchdown for me,” Miller said.Miller called the outpouring of support he’s received a life-changing event, and especially cited help received from Bears board chairman George McCaskey.“That guy’s been awesome, and that’ll be a memory I’ll keep forever,” Miller said.Since suffering the injury, Miller has sought out others who’ve had similar injuries, including former Raiders running back Napoleon Kaufman and current Raider Pharaoh Brown. He also has been in contact with California high school football player Alex Ruiz, who still faces possible amputation of part of a leg following a similar injury.“I’ve had a number of people reach out to me who have had an injury similar to this or worse doing everyday things, whether it be recreational activity Myles Garrett Jersey Youth , hanging out, swimming,” Miller said. “This type of thing is actually more prevalent than you may think, but I’ve had people reach out to me.”Miller is taking a day-by-day approach to recovery.“I’ve been a football player my whole life,” Miller said. “I would love to play football. We’ll cross that road when it’s time.”Most of Miller’s surgeries were related to the blood flow, which he said is now good. The knee’s structure remains solid.“The main ligaments that I’ve got are good,” he said.Miller, 33, is a free agent after this season. He suffered a season-ending foot fracture in 2016, and with past teams had a torn Achilles in 2012 and a season-ending shoulder injury in 2011.Bears coach John Fox said Miller will continue to have a supporting role in the background the rest of the season.“When you get knocked down, you see people’s real character and how they respond,” Fox said. “He’s handled it like a champ. And I think most everybody that knew him or knows him, he acted like you’d expect Zach to act. It’s very impressive.”Miller’s return to the facility came a day after the Bears (4-9) broke a five-game losing streak with a 33-7 win at Cincinnati. He said he enjoyed being around teammates.“It just felt good to be back,” Miller said. “There are a lot of people I still haven’t seen that I need to see. But there have been a lot of hugs to go around.”.

Coach Marvin Lewis got a two-year contract extension Tuesday LeSean McCoy Bills Jersey , providing more chances to try to get the Cincinnati Bengals that playoff victory that has eluded him for 15 seasons.

The agreement came after a second straight losing season and two days of discussions with owner Mike Brown. Lewis has the second-longest active coaching tenure in the NFL, behind Bill Belichick’s 18 seasons with New England.

Unlike Belichick, who has won five Super Bowls and made two other appearances in the title game, Lewis is 0-7 in the playoffs, the worst coaching record in NFL history. The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since the 1990 season, the sixth-longest streak of futility in league history.

Paul Brown Stadium was half-empty for the final home game, an indication fans had given up on the team and were hoping for change.

Instead, Brown decided to stay the course and keep Lewis, who wanted more say over the coaching staff and the roster if he stayed.

Brown’s aversion to change won out.

”Marvin has made significant contributions during his time here,” Brown said in a statement.

Lewis planned to meet the media on Wednesday. He said in a statement that he was committed ”to making the necessary improvements to put this team in the best position to win.”

Lewis has acknowledged that he would have been fired in any other NFL city. Instead, he’s gotten second and third chances – and now a 16th chance – to lead the Bengals to a postseason win. Brown, an owner who values loyalty Josh Gordon Jersey , has decided to keep Lewis around.

It marks a stay-the-course coaching offseason for both of Ohio’s teams. The Browns are keeping coach Hue Jackson after they became only the second team in NFL history to go 0-16.

On Monday, Lewis said he was interested in staying only if he and ownership had a common vision for changes that needed to happen. He said the organization needs to do a better job building a roster that can contend for an AFC North title.

Lewis has by far the longest coaching tenure in team history – founder Paul Brown and Sam Wyche are tied for second at eight years – and a 125-119-3 record, including that 0-7 playoff mark.

Under Lewis, the Bengals have had some of their best regular seasons and some of the worst playoff moments.

The mastermind of Baltimore’s Super Bowl championship defense in 2000, Lewis came to Cincinnati before the 2003 season – a rare outside hire by the Brown family. Lewis turned the Bengals into a competitive team and then a playoff team after years of languishing as a laughingstock.

He hasn’t been able to win a playoff game, though. His best chance came in 2015, when the Bengals matched the franchise record with 12 wins and were in control in the final minutes of a playoff game against rival Pittsburgh at Paul Brown Stadium.

Lewis’ team unraveled, fumbling to give Pittsburgh a final chance and then committing two unthinkable penalties – Vontaze Burfict and Adam ”Pacman” Jones got 15-yard fouls – that set up the Steelers’ field goal for an 18-16 win. It was one of the worst meltdowns in NFL playoff history.

At yet, Lewis survived it. His team never recovered. The Bengals won only six games last season. When Lewis and Brown met afterward, they couldn’t agree on terms of an extension of his deal that ended after the 2017 season.

A 23-20 Monday night loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 4 essentially ended the Bengals’ chances. Paul Brown Stadium was less than half-full for the final home game, a 26-17 victory over the Lions on Dec. 24. In the final game at Baltimore, the Bengals rallied for a 31-27 win that eliminated the Ravens.

The Bengals now have to sell tickets by convincing fans that things are changing Zack Martin Cowboys Jersey , even if the head coach is the same.

They came into the world together. Days removed from being teenagers, they made their NHL debuts together.

And after more than 2,800 regular and postseason games with the team that drafted them, they will leave the ice together for the final time late Saturday night.

Two of the league’s greats cap off sure-fire Hall of Fame careers as Daniel and Henrik Sedin lead the Vancouver Canucks against the Edmonton Oilers.

Sandwiched around Patrik Stefan and Pavel Brendl in the 1999 NHL Draft, Daniel was selected second, one spot ahead of Henrik. It took separate trades with the Chicago Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Lightning and Atlanta Thrashers to put Vancouver in position to select the Swedes.

“Five minutes before it started, (Canucks scout Thomas Gradin) walked up to us. He was yelling from the floor telling us that it was going to happen,” Henrik told Canada’s Global News in a 2016 article.

The Sedins would quickly become synonymous with Canucks hockey and go on to win scoring titles in consecutive seasons. Henrik collected 112 points en route to an MVP season in 2009-10, followed by Daniel with 104 in 2010-11.

Now 37 years old and with their respective contracts expiring at the end of the season, the twins announced in low-key fashion last Monday that this would be their final season.

“I hope we can treat the final games the same way as any other game, but it’s going to be emotional Josh Gordon Browns Jersey ,” Henrik said at a press conference.

The twins had a storybook ending to their final game in Vancouver on Thursday. Daniel scored his second goal of the game off a helper from Henrik in overtime to lift the Canucks past the Arizona Coyotes, 4-3.

“You couldn’t dream of a better ending in this building,” said Daniel, who is second in franchise history with 1,041 points — and trails only Henrik with 1,070.

Both players have bedeviled Edmonton for nearly 20 years. Henrik has 17 goals and 67 assists in 95 games; Daniel has 37 goals and 47 assists in 92 games.

“They’ve been mortal enemies of the Oilers for many, many years, but we’ve also been able to appreciate and watch their skill level and how they affected and changed the game in a lot of different ways. We’ll appreciate them (Saturday) night, and enjoy the evening,” Edmonton coach Todd McLellan said Friday.

Vancouver (31-40-10) is going for a split of the four-game season series, and its second win in seven games in Alberta.

Instead of playoff hockey and like the Canucks — Edmonton (35-40-6) will look ahead to where they will be slotted in the draft lottery.

With 106 points (41 goals, 65 assists) Blake Martinez Jersey , Connor McDavid is just about a lock to become the first player to win back-to-back scoring titles since the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Jaromir Jagr took home four straight Art Ross Trophies between 1998 and 2001.

Making a bit of personal history is nice, but the Oilers’ captain would rather be playing past Saturday night.

“We have nights where we’re really good and we have nights where we’re really bad,” McDavid said after notching three assists in a 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. “It’s definitely something we’ve got to figure out. We’ve beat some good teams, and we’ve lost to some teams that ultimately we should not have lost to.”

The reigning Hart Trophy winner has 14 three-point games this season, with Edmonton going 11-2-1. The Oilers are 24-38-5 when McDavid has two or fewer points.

McDavid also has posted at least one point in all six career home games against Vancouver, totaling three goals and six assists. The Oilers are 5-0-1 in those contests.

A particularly trying season is coming to an end for Edmonton’s Cam Talbot, who has 30 wins — 12 fewer than last season. He also managed one shutout after collecting seven in 2016-17.

Since joining the Oilers, Talbot is 4-0-1 with a 1.18 GAA and two shutouts against the Canucks in Edmonton.

鈥?Two of the New England Patriots’ most important players are getting healthier as they prepare to head to Minneapolis for Super Bowl week. After getting stitches in his right hand and thumb prior to the AFC championship game last week Blake Martinez Packers Jersey , quarterback Tom Brady was on the practice field Saturday, gripping the ball without a glove on his throwing hand. Tight end Rob Gronkowski also was at practice, returning to workouts after starting the week in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Both are positive signs for New England, which has just one practice remaining in Foxborough before the team heads to Minnesota to resume its Super Bowl preparations. Defensive lineman Deatrich Wise, who also missed practice time this week with a concussion, joined Gronk in the team stretching period that is open to reporters.Gronkowski hadn’t been on the practice field since his second-quarter exit from the AFC title game following a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jaguars safety Barry Church.“It’s always great to have him out there. He’s a great player, a great person, a great teammate and a big part of what we do,” Brady said of Gronkowski. “It obviously hurts when he’s not out there for a lot of reasons. But he’s doing the best he can do and we’re all hopeful.”While Gronkowski and Wise were on the field, it’s unclear whether they have been officially cleared from the protocol. The team isn’t required to file its next injury report until Wednesday.Gronk played just eight games last season and missed the Patriots’ entire playoff run after undergoing season-ending back surgery.Since the start of last season, New England is 12-1 without Gronk. But last season it had Martellus Bennett to fill in the gap without him. Bennett signed with Green Bay in the offseason, before being released by the Packers in November. He then re-signed with the Patriots Deion Sanders Jersey Youth , but only appeared in two games before being placed on season-ending injured reserve.Brady said he wants to spend the rest of the time leading up to the Super Bowl avoiding all possible distractions. That includes not talking about a new series that debuted on Facebook recently and provides viewers a rare glimpse at his life off the field.“What? Let’s talk about distractions,” Brady joked when he was asked about the series Saturday. “We’ll stick to football this week, too. I like that no distractions part.”Though this will be Brady’s eighth trip to the Super Bowl, the 40-year-old said he still has an appreciation for what it takes to be playing at this point of the season.“I’ve never taken anything like this for granted, and I think we’re all very fortunate to be in this game,” he said. “Being a part of a couple of these losses, those are pretty tough to swallow, but I think you realize how much effort you have to put in to prepare. It’s a very unique environment, unique game, and you have to be at your best. But in order to do that, you have to prepare as well as you possibly can.” Here were the two primary goals for the Miami Heat on the final night of the regular season: Beat the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and get Wayne Ellington into the team record book.

Done http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/eli-manning-jersey , and done.

Ellington scored a career-high 32 points while setting Miami’s single-season record for 3-pointers, and the Heat wrapped up the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs by beating the Toronto Raptors 116-109 in overtime Wednesday night.

”It’s just absolutely fitting that it would come down to an overtime game with this group,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. ”It was a heck of a regular season. Now we’re on to the second act.”

That starts this weekend, when the Heat go to Philadelphia and take on the third-seeded 76ers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Kelly Olynyk, Dwyane Wade, Justise Winslow, James Johnson and Tyler Johnson each scored 11 points for the Heat, who got 10 each from Hassan Whiteside and Bam Adebayo.

Ellington needed six 3s to beat the record of 225 that Damon Jones set in the 2004-05 season. He finished the season with 227, and now gets to go to his hometown to start the postseason.

”A big-time overtime win,” Ellington said. ”We feel like if you put us up against anybody in seven games, we can beat them. That’s the kind of team we feel like we are. It’s going to be a dogfight no matter what.”

Kyle Lowry scored 28 points for Toronto, which already had the top seed in the East wrapped up – but played its regulars in this one anyway. The Raptors will meet No. 8 Washington in the first round.

DeMar DeRozan had 19 points Devin Hester Jersey , Jakob Poeltl had 16 and Jonas Valanciunas scored 12 for the Raptors, who were outscored 11-4 in overtime.

”We had a goal set out that we would win 60 games before these 82 were up,” DeRozan said. ”That didn’t happen. Time to clear that. None of that matters now. Get ready for this weekend.”

Even with nothing standings-wise to play for, the Raptors had no qualms about using their starters. Lowry, DeRozan, Valanciunas and Serge Ibaka combined to play more than 120 minutes.

The Raptors were 22-60 in 2010-11, the season before coach Dwane Casey came to Toronto. They ended this season 59-23.

”It’s taken us a while to build our program, to get it where it is,” said Casey, a coach of the year candidate this season. ”This (Heat) program has multiple championships and we’re trying to get to that level organically. And it takes time. You’re just not going to wave a magic wand and turn a player into Magic Johnson or Larry Bird or anybody like that. It’s part of the process, and that’s something I know our organization is proud of.”

Ellington’s 3-pointer with 18.8 seconds left in regulation put Miami up two, and Poeltl tied it with a tip-in. But Miami scored the first five points of the extra session and didn’t look back.

A year ago on the last night of the season Leighton Vander Cowboys Esch Jersey , the Heat were left teary-eyed and with a sour taste in their mouths after missing the playoffs.

This time, Wade and Udonis Haslem toasted each other with flutes of fancy champagne to celebrate their 15th NBA season.

”It really means something, every time you complete a season especially as you get up there,” Wade said. ”So both of us are a little tipsy.”

TIP-INS

Raptors: Key reserve Fred VanVleet left with 1:32 remaining in regulation after apparently getting hurt while trying to fight through a screen. He stayed down for several seconds near the Toronto bench before getting helped off the floor. … Toronto went 25-16 on the road, and 40-12 against East opponents.

Heat: All-Star point guard Goran Dragic missed the game with soreness in his right knee. The Heat are not concerned about his availability for Game 1 of the playoffs. … Miami finished 26-15 at home.

FIORENTINO HONORED

Tony Fiorentino, one of the Heat original employees who started as an assistant coach in the team’s inaugural season 30 years ago before transitioning to broadcasting, was honored in a halftime ceremony. Fiorentino has spent the last 15 season as the Heat television analyst, and will assume a team-ambassador position when Miami’s playoff run ends.

SIZZLING POELTL

To say Poeltl is going into the postseason on a hot streak is an understatement. Poeltl ended the regular season having made 34 of his last 39 shots in the final eight games. Poeltl is also the only Raptors player who appeared in all 82 regular-season contests.

UP NEXT

Raptors: Face Washington in Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Heat: Face Philadelphia in Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Matt Patricia worked in relative obscurity in New England.

The burly man with a bushy beard, baseball cap on backward, with a pencil above his right ear was noticed only occasionally while coordinating the Patriots‘ defense.

As a first-year NFL head coach with the Detroit Lions, his every move and word have been watched and listened to while reporters have had access to him and his team during minicamp and offseason workouts. Patricia’s past has also been scrutinized.

What does Patricia know about the job now that he didn’t know a few months ago?

”Kind of everything,” Patricia said Monday. ”Everything is new. Everything is different.”

A Detroit News report last month shed light on allegations against Patricia from 1996 Michael Gallup Jersey Elite , when he and a friend were indicted 22 years ago by a Texas grand jury on one count each of aggravated sexual assault. The accuser did not testify and the case was dismissed.

Patricia has said he was falsely accused. The Lions have said a pre-employment background check did not reveal the incident, adding they are standing by Patricia. The NFL determined allegations against Patricia are not subject to its personal conduct policy.

While not referring specifically to the fallout from the allegations, Patricia acknowledged his job description includes more than Xs and Os on the football field.

”The requirements are different,” he said. ”So, that’s kind of the biggest adjustment from that standpoint.”

The Lions are making adjustments, too, under Patricia after practicing and playing for Jim Caldwell the previous four seasons.

”He’s a guy that’s going to push you and try to get the best out of you every day,” cornerback Nevin Lawson said.

Patricia lashed out at his players last week, screaming for them to move faster from one drill to another with words not fit to print even if team policy allowed it. Caldwell wasn’t heard yelling at players when the media was around and players didn’t hear him use profanity even privately.

”Coach Patricia is an intense guy,” tight end Michael Roberts said. ”He’s a smart guy. Obviously, he knows what he is doing. Things were done differently last year. He comes in with his way of doing things. … If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. He says that a lot.”

Return specialist Jamal Agnew was one of the many players who mentioned Cheap Jamal Adams Jersey , ”high expectations,” when asked about Patricia. And, Agnew doesn’t have a problem trying to live up to lofty goals with the Lions under their new, hard-driving coach.

”He’s won,” Agnew said. ”He’s played winning football.”

The 43-year-old Patricia helped New England win three Super Bowls over 14 years, working as its defensive coordinator the previous six seasons. He was hired by Lions general manager Bob Quinn, who had his eye on Patricia as a candidate to replace Caldwell after working together for a dozen years with the Patriots.

Lions linebacker Jonathan Freeny, one of a handful of former Patriots playing on Detroit’s roster, said Patricia looks and sounds like the same coach he was in New England.

”He brings the same enthusiasm – same intensity – to the game every day,” Freeny said.

After the Capitals scored early Landon Collins Giants Jersey , the Penguins scored often to stun their rivals with yet another comeback.

Patric Hornqvist, Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel scored in a 4:49 span to help Pittsburgh erase a two-goal deficit in the third period and the Penguins beat Washington 3-2 on Thursday night in Game 1 of the second-round series.

Showing no panic from allowing a goal to Evgeny Kuznetsov 17 seconds into the game and another to Alex Ovechkin 28 seconds into the third period, the back-to-back defending Stanley Cup champions took another series lead in typical Penguins fashion.

Playing without injured forwards Evgeni Malkin and Carl Hagelin, Pittsburgh naturally fed off Crosby, who had a goal and an assist.

”Right from Sid, he led the way for us and it’s right down the lineup,” said Guentzel, who had a goal and two assists and leads the playoffs with 16 points. ”You can’t get down. There’s going to be highs and lows throughout the whole series. You’ve got to stick with it to the end and we were happy to get three and end up winning the game.”

Matt Murray stopped 32 of 34 shots, keeping the Penguins in the game and maintaining the lead late with a sprawling stick save on Brett Connolly with 2:30 left. Unsure of what would happen at the other end of the rink with Braden Holtby dialed in, Murray could only keep the puck out as much as possible after allowing the early-period goals to Kuznetsov and Ovechkin.

Murray denied Michal Kempny from point-blank range and kept the puck out from a hard-charging Devante Smith-Pelly early and missed no opportunity to give the Penguins the impressive stop when they needed it.

”I thought he was locked in all night long,” coach Mike Sullivan said. ”He made some big saves for us, especially when they were pressing down the stretch there. … When you get those types of saves Kyle Long Jersey Youth , it’s easy to play with some confidence in front of him.”

Murray couldn’t predict a furious comeback, but he wasn’t shocked, either. Not after Pittsburgh has won nine consecutive playoff series dating to 2016, including two against these Capitals.

”There’s going to be good things that happen out there and there’s going to be bad things that happen out there,” Murray said. ”It’s about how you respond. We did a good job of that.”

The Capitals gave the Penguins a couple of solid punches in the series opener but didn’t respond well when some bounces went against them early in the third. A deflection goal by Hornqvist, a puck that went off Ovechkin’s stick to Crosby and then a redirection by Guentzel took the air out of the building and ruined a strong start by Holtby.

”Obviously, some things we’d like to work on,” said Holtby, who stopped all 17 shots through two periods before allowing three on eight in the third. ”Same time, their goals they scored, they were kind of strange plays, especially the last one. It was one of those that’s just a weird bounce.”

Washington blew a two-goal lead for the fourth time in seven games in these playoffs Eli Manning Jersey , but players felt they handled this better than situations in the first round against Columbus.

”Those three shifts, they score,” said Kuznetsov, whose goal was the second-fastest in Capitals playoff history. ”I feel like they got momentum, and then they score again and again.”

As even as the play was, a handful of mistakes were enough to put the Penguins up going into Game 2 Sunday afternoon. Sullivan already sees opportunities to cut down on chances against, and his players think they can be better as the series goes on.

”It’s one game, we did some good things,” Crosby said. ”I think in any playoff series, it’s just about getting better with every game.”

NOTES: The Capitals have killed 18 consecutive penalties dating to Game 2 against Columbus. .., Malkin skated Thursday morning with teammates, while Hagelin did not make the trip. Malkin could be an option for Game 2 if his apparent leg injury has healed enough.

The surging San Francisco Giants have made the NL West a little more intriguing.

Brandon Belt and Joe Panik drove in two runs each Myles Garrett Jersey Youth , Hunter Pence had a pinch-hit, two-run double, and the Giants completed a three-game sweep with a 9-6 victory over the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks. It was San Francisco’s seventh win in eight games and their first sweep of the Diamondbacks since September of 2016. San Francisco moved into a second-place tie at 2 1/2 games behind Arizona for the first time since June 10.

A four-run fifth inning highlighted by Pence’s double off reliever Silvino Bracho gave the Giants an 8-3 lead. Cory Gearrin (1-1) got one out in the fourth inning to earn the win in relief of starter Derek Holland.

Afterward, manager Bruce Bochy praised the veteran Pence – who is primarily a bench player at present – for accepting his role.

”He is our spiritual leader. I know his role has changed and he has handled it so well. This is a little bit of a change for him and it is not easy,” Bochy said. ”He has a great attitude and just wants to help the club win.”

The Giants tagged starter Zack Godley (9-6) for seven runs on nine hits in four-plus innings, ending his four-game winning streak. But Holland didn’t make it out of the fourth, chased after loading the bases with an intentional walk with San Francisco leading 4-3.

The Diamondbacks couldn’t take advantage, as Belt raced well beyond the first base bag into shallow right field to throw out Christian Walker at first and end the inning.

”We feel like we are in a good rhythm,” Pence said. ”It’s part of baseball and we feel like we are working on all cylinders and that is definitely momentum.”

Holland allowed three runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Godley’s five walks were the second most he’s issued in a start this season.

”I couldn’t locate certain pitches and they took advantage of that,” Godley said. ”They’re swinging the bat really well right now, one through nine.”

Arizona rallied with two runs in the seventh on Paul Goldschmidt’s 18th home run of the season, and Jarrod Dyson became the eighth player in team history to record at least two hits Adidas Derick Brassard Jersey , two RBIs and two stolen bases in a game.

The Diamondbacks brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth with two outs, but Will Smith struck out Jake Lamb for Smith’s second save.

”They kicked our butts. They came in here and beat us, straight up,” Lamb said.
