Bangladesh 265 (Tamim 80, Mahmudullah 62, Shakib 48, Dawlat 4-73, Rashid 2-37, Nabi 2-40) beat Afghanistan 258 (Hashmatullah 72, Shahidi 71, Shakib 2-26, Mashrafe 2-42, Taskin 2-55) by seven runs Scorecard and ball-by-ball details Bangladesh were given a mighty scare, but they somehow managed to fend off Afghanistans challenge to win by seven runs in a tense first ODI in Mirpur. Cheap NCAA Jerseys Free Shipping . The 1-0 lead was possible through fine slog-overs bowling from Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain, who picked up seven wickets between them.Afghanistan were cruising at 190 for 2, with Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi driving their chase in a 144-run third-wicket stand. Once that was broken, with Shakib having Rahmat stumped to become the countrys highest ODI wicket-taker, things fell apart. With 28 runs needed off 24 balls, Shakib kept the game within Bangladeshs reach through a tight one-run over. Taskin followed it up with a two-wicket over that included the scalp of Mohammad Nabi, who had made 30 off 24 balls, off a slower ball. Rubel then gave away eight runs and removed Rashid Khan off the last ball of the next over.It boiled down to 13 off the final over, bowled by Taskin. With the new ball, he was wayward and perhaps a touch nervous upon his return to international cricket after getting his bowling action cleared by the ICC. Now, it was a do-or-die situation, and he responded by removing Mirwais Ashraf with a full delivery off the second ball. He then took his fourth wicket to finish a hard-fought win that could have belonged to Afghanistan had they kept their cool in the last half hour. That they were in with a chance was largely because Bangladesh missed an opportunity to post much more than 265; they lost their last seven wickets for 62, with Mahmudullahs slog sweep that was caught at deep square-leg in the 41st over triggering the slide.Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman then fell to Rashid Khans googlies, leaving Shakib with the task of manoeuvring the final stages of the innings; he eventually fell for a 40-ball 48 in the 48th over. Dawlat Zadran, who was inconsistent in the middle overs, returned to finish with 4 for 73 off 10 overs, while Rashid and Nabi took two wickets each.Bangladeshs platform was built by Tamim Iqbal, who made 80 off 98 balls with nine boundaries. His 83-run second-wicket stand with Imrul Kayes helped them recover from the early loss of Soumya Sarkar.Tamim, who was dropped on 30 at point off Ashraf, then added 79 runs for the third wicket with Mahmudullah, before an unusual middle-overs slowdown, largely due to the oppressive heat and the slow nature of the surface. He eventually holed out to long-off in the 36th over. Mahmudullah too was given a reprieve on 58 by Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai at cover, but he added just four more. He hit five fours and two sixes in all to give the total a lift.Afghanistans chase didnt take off until Mohammad Shahzad cut loose - he struck Taskin for three successive fours in the sixth over and flicked Mashrafe Mortaza for a six over midwicket - but his dismissal in the seventh over pulled them back. Mashrafe had the last laugh when he found the edge. What followed was an angry send-off, which was perhaps because of the pressure Bangladesh found themselves under all of a sudden.Shakib struck two balls later to trap Shabir Noori lbw to become Bangladeshs joint-highest wicket-taker in ODIs along with Abdur Razzak. He could have taken over the record in the 12th over, but Mushfiqur Rahim couldnt gather a difficult take down the leg-side off Shahidi.Rahmat and Shahidi then rebuilt to bring Afghanistan back into the contest. Once they found a string of boundaries, the confidence showed. Afghanistan signalled intent when Rahmat struck three sixes, over mid-off and midwicket, the third a beautiful pick-up off Rubel Hossain in the 31st over. He even scooped Rubel past fine-leg to leave the 40,000-strong crowd worried. To add to Bangladeshs woes, Shahidi was let off for the second time when Mahmudullah failed to hold on to a chance at deep square-leg in the 40th over off Taijul Islam. Fortunately for Bangladesh, another opportunity came in the next over, which they gleefully accepted as Shakib broke the record for most ODI wickets. Rahmats stumping on 71 ended a stand that, in hindsight, may have proved to be the game-changer.Shahidi then mistimed a slog on 72 and was caught by Soumya Sarkar at deep midwicket in the 44th over. From there on, it was over to Nabi and Asghar Stanikzai to pull off a heist. But on the face of some improved death bowling, the task proved a little too steep. And in a jiffy, an opportunity to record a famous win slipped by. Discount NCAA Jerseys . Toronto has dropped games to Indiana and Miami since a five-game winning streak and closed out a three-game road trip at 1-2. MIAMI -- Derek Dietrichs bat and Dee Gordons legs helped fuel the Miami Marlins offense.Dietrich hit a two-run homer and Gordon stole three bases to help Miami end the Atlanta Braves winning streak at seven games, winning 6-4 on Saturday night.Thats how we really want it to go most nights, Gordon said. Weve been scuffling a little bit so to have everybody clicking with getting guys over, timely hitting is good for us.Gordon had two hits, two walks and his stolen base total was one shy of tying the Marlins single-game franchise high, which he has done on two separate occasions. When Dee is able to get on and being able to impact it like that, it puts pressure on the pitcher and the defense, Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. What I liked about tonight was that he was willing to take his walks. You really want your leadoff guy to get on base and it doesnt matter how.Atlantas Freddie Freeman extended his hitting streak to 28 games in the first inning and has reached base in 44 straight. He also hit a solo home run in the sixth, his 32nd.It feels good, Freeman said. Obviously, Ive worked really hard and things are clicking right now. Im getting pitches to hit and Im not missing them.Brian Ellington (4-2) earned the win in relief and A.J. Ramos recorded his 39th save in 42 chances. The Braves pulled within 5-4 on a wild pitch by Fernando Rodney in the seventh inning. We gave ourselves a chance, Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said. We kept fighting back -- a guy on and were swinging away from taking the lead.J.T. Realmuto beat out an infield hit in the seventh to push the Miami lead to 6-4, and Kyle Barraclough and Raamos retired all six batters they faced to seal the win and end a three-game losing streak. Wholesale College Jerseys Authentic. iami jumped to an early 2-1 lead on Dietrichs two-run homer to right field in the first inning. The Marlins extended their lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth including a sacrifice fly by Marcell Ozuna. Both starting pitchers exited before the fifth inning. Miamis Wei-Yin Chen allowed two runs in four innings and Atlantas Aaron Blair (1-7) allowed five runs over 3 1/3 innings.I just didnt have the command that I had five days ago, Blair said. I got myself in trouble walking the leadoff hitter two of the four innings. I put myself in bad counts in those situations.MARLINS SPEEDThe Marlins stole five bases. Yefri Perez and Realmuto also stole a base off catcher Anthony Recker.Just getting good pitches to run on, Gordon said. Just trying to manufacture runs that way because our field is really big and a lot of us arent going to hit a lot of home runs. The five steals are the most since the Marlins stole five against Pittsburgh on Aug. 25, 2015.DIETRICH CATCHDietrich made a catch falling into the stands down the first-base line on a pop-up by Recker in the eighth inning.UP NEXTBraves: RHP Julio Teheran (6-10, 3.10 ERA) will start Sundays series finale. Teheran allowed one run in seven innings in his last start, a 5-4 win at the New York Mets.Marlins: LHP Adam Conley (8-6, 3.94) will pitch in place of RHP Jose Fernandez on Sunday, with Fernandez bumped to start Monday against the Mets. KANSAS CITY, Mo. Dre Kirkpatrick College Jersey . -- Kansas is capable of draining long-range shots. This much, Bill Self sees every day in practice. Actually, as far back as when the Kansas coach recruited players for a team ranked No. 7.Through a 2-1 start, however, the Jayhawks are shooting only 23.1 percent from 3-point range and have been outscored from behind the arc, 93-36.Their top backcourt bombers -- senior Frank Mason and juniors Devonte Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk -- have combined to go 9 of 37 entering a game Monday against Alabama Birmingham (2-1) as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Sprint Center.I know were better shooters than what weve shot, Self said. Devonte, Frank and Svi, none of them have gotten on a roll yet. I know we can become a pretty good shooting team.Against Siena on Nov. 18, an 86-65 win that counted as the Jayhawks host game in the CBE tournament, Kansas was outscored 24-3 at one point from 3-point range as the Saints trimmed a second-half deficit to five.Weve been shooting the ball well in practice, it just hasnt translated into games, said Mason, who led Kansas in scoring in each of its three games and averages 23 points despite making only two 3-pointers this season.Fatigue remains a factor the Jayhawks must confront.Another semifinal between Georgia (2-1) and George Washington (3-0) is scheduled Monday before the CBE championship round is played Tuesday. The Jayhawks opened the season traveling to Honolulu and New York for a split with Indiana and Duke and now face three games in five days.Throughout the opening stretch, and throughout the season actually, attention will be focused on Josh Jackson, a 6-foot-8 freshman guard who came to Kansas ranked as the nations top recruit by some services.Jackson has shown flashes, but also encountered foul problems in each game, averaging only 22 minutes while scoring at an 11.7-point clip.On occasion, Jackson has been clearly agitated by some calls, drawing a technical foul in the win over Duke.Hes an emotional youngster, but thats something hes got to do a better job with, Self said. I do think that hes got to control his emotions a little bit.Getting frustrated like that, sometimes its OK but its not thinking next play. Youve got to put that behind you. Hell get better at that.UAB is coping with the loss of Nick Norton, a starting junior point guard, who was lost for the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee in the season opener. In their first game without Norton, the Blazers had a 26-game homecourt winning streak snapped by Furman before rebounding to defeat Troy 74-51 on Nov. 17.UAB was picked as the consensus favorite in Conference USA after claiming the title last season and moving on to the NCAA Tournament before settling for a school-record 26 wins.William Lee, a 6-9 junior forward who is the reigning C-USA defensive player of the year, had seven rebounds and seven blocked shots in the win over Troy.Junior forward Chris Cokley paces the Blazers, averaging a team-high 14.3 points and 6.0 rebounds.Sophomore guard Deion Lavender flirted with a triple-double against Troy, posting nine points, nine rebounds and seven assists. With Norton out, Lavender shared duties at the point with senior Denzell Watts. We did a better job of balancing the minutes and not relying strictly on Deion, said Robert Ehsan, who was promoted to head coach at UAB this season after Jerod Haase left for Stanford.Denzell was fantastic. Deion played off the ball as well, which he is an asset at. This is the kind of expectation that the coaches have for Deion, to be this productive. He had a great game. People have their own problems to handle. Hes still our brother and we look past it. Were going to need him. ST. Denzel Perryman Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jake Odorizzi is focused on a strong second half and not trade speculation.Odorizzi pitched masterfully into the seventh inning, Logan Forsythe and Corey Dickerson hit solo homers in the first, and the Tampa Bay Rays cooled off the surging New York Yankees 5-1 on Friday night.Scouts from many playoff contenders were in attendance with Mondays non-waiver trade deadline looming.Im not really worried about it, to be honest, Odorizzi said. Im worried about what I do here, and coming out in the second half and starting off well, which I think we have. Thats what my purpose is, to get better because in the first half I wasnt happy with myself.Odorizzi (5-5) struck out five and allowed six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Alex Colome entered with two on and one out in the ninth, and got two straight outs for his 23rd save.Odorizzi went eight scoreless innings in previous start Friday at Oakland, a game that Tampa Bay lost 1-0 in 13 innings. Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve was livid in her postgame news conference following her teams loss in the decisive Game 5 on Thursday night to Los Angeles. Tarik Cohen Jersey .After congratulating the Sparks for winning the WNBA championship with a 77-76 victory over the Lynx, Reeve lit into the officiating. Its really unfortunate that players continually put themselves out there, playing and competing at a really high level. Whether it was the 8-second call in LA or the game today, doesnt matter, OK? The game today, its not fair to the players, Reeve said. Its not enough just to apologize or send out a memo that they got something wrong, OK? These players are so invested and something must be done about the officiating in this league because its not fair to these great players we have.Reeves remarks came after the officials didnt review a shot by Nneka Ogwumike with 1:12 left in the game that appeared on replays to have come after the shot clock had expired. The officials never reviewed the play, which gave Los Angeles a 73-71 lead.By WNBA rules, in the final 2 minutes of a game, plays are only reviewable immediately. Earlier in the game, time can elapse off the clock and they can still be reviewed. It was reviewable at the time when she shot it, Reeve said. The referees at that point didnt think anything was wrong. They didnt understand it was the end of the clock. They didnt hear the shot clock. When they put the ball in play, the play is no longer reviewable. This wasnt the first missed call in this series. In Game 4, the Lynx benefited when the officials didnt call an 8-second violation late in that game. The WNBA admitted the next day that its officials had missed that call.Last season, in the Western Conference finals, the Lynx were aided by a foul with 1.5 seconds left in a tie game against Phoenix. The league said that foul should not have been called. Its unfortunate were having this discussion, Reeve said. The number of people that have contacted us and said this shot was no good, its unfortunate. I mean, I dont know what happens from there. Maybe they still win. I dont know. Thats why I dont want to take anything away from LA.Lynx star Maya Moore didnt realize the controversy until asked about it afterward in a sullen losing locker room.OK, that doesnt make me feel any better, Moore said. She said she thought she saw one of the officials signal for a review and was surprised to hear that didnt occur, the details of the final minutes clearly lost in the haze of defeat.Well, it doesnt mean anything now, Moore said. UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Top-ranked Duke bounced back from its loss to Kansas by beating Penn State, but watched another player go down with an injury.Freshman Frank Jackson led five players in double figures with 17 points and Amile Jefferson added 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a 78-68 win Saturday in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament.Sophomore Chase Jeter rolled his left ankle in the first half and didnt return.Tony Carr had 20 points and Shep Garner added 15 to lead Penn State (2-2).Jeter went down under the Penn State basket while going for a rebound. The 6-foot-10 sophomore was on the floor for several minutes before being helped off the court. His injury came minutes after Grayson Allen left the game, favoring the right foot he hurt in the recent loss to Kansas.Allen went back to the locker room, but returned to the floor a few minutes later. He finished with 12 points and needs just three more to become the 65th Duke player with 1,000 points for his career.Matt Jones and Luke Kennard added 15 points each for Duke. Were banged up more than any team Ive ever coached, said Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. Before the game and then during the game. I mean, Amile has been hurt this week. He has 15 rebounds and 16 points.Despite the injuries, the Blue Devils went on an early 13-2 run that turned a tie game into a 21-10 lead. They led 36-24 at the half, despite some poor shooting from Allen and Kennard, who were a combined 4-15 from the floor. But Jackson picked up the slack, scoring 11 of his points before intermission. To be able to have the next man up, coach does a good job motivating us, Jones said. We didnt come to Duke to lose, be second fiddle or bow down to anybody. We know what were capable of and everyone on that sideline can help. That confidence that is instilled in us, takes us to where we need to go.A 3-point play by Allen stretched the lead to 64-51 midway through the second half.Penn State trailed 72-57 wiith just under 5 minutes to play, but went on a 9-2 run before the Blue Devils closed out the game. Patrick Scales Jersey. .Dukes short bench outscored Penn States 19-5.BIG PICTUREDuke: Jeters injury further depletes a Blue Devils team that is still without three highly touted freshmen -- Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum and Marques Bolden -- as well as junior Sean Obi. They may have just seven players available for Sundays championship game. Krzyzewski pegged Jeters status for the game as doubtful.I know if he can play, he will play, Krzyzewski said. Were going to try and win. We would like to win.Penn State: The Nittany Lions are using the tournament as a measuring stick to see how the young team stacks up against top-level competition. This was the programs first game against a No. 1 ranked team since 2011, and theyre now 0-14 in those games. We took another step today, said coach Patrick Chambers. We got better. And thats our goal Just keep getting better. Its a process thats going to take some time, but were going to eventually get there.POLL IMPLICATIONSDuke was No. 1 in the preseason poll and the first voting of the regular season, but likely will fall a few spots after its loss to Kansas. How far may depend on how they do in this tournament.PERIMETER DEFENSEDuke held Penn State to six 3-point baskets on 21 attempts. Thats not a fluke. The Blue Devils held their first three opponents under 15 percent from the outside and were giving up fewer than three 3-pointers a game coming into the tournament. Kerry Wynn Jersey .Describing his two dismissals at Lords as almost the final straw, Root turned to Ramprakash, the England batting coach, for advice. But rather than suggesting technical alterations or reassuring Root as to his quality, Ramprakash questioned whether he was in the frame of mind to be playing Test cricket at present.Root had looked well-set in the first innings of the first Test at Lords. He had added 110 for the second wicket with his captain, Alastair Cook, and moved within two of another half-century. But then he attempted an unnecessarily aggressive slow-sweep and top-edged to mid-wicket. Englands innings fell away and, with Root also succumbing to a loose pull in the second innings, Pakistan went on to win the game.It was far from the first time that Root had played a part in his own dismissal once set at Test level. Indeed, it was the 17th time in almost exactly 24 months that he had been dismissed with a score between 48 and 99 in a Test, in which time he had scored five Test centuries. And it was that failure to capitalise on his starts, that lack of ruthlessness, that persuaded him to seek advice ahead of the second Test in Manchester. It worked. Root produced his most controlled, mature innings to date to help England to a vast first innings total and, eventually, a victory that left the series level at 1-1 with two to play. The most frustrating thing about this Test match summer so far is that the majority of my dismissals have been batsman error, Root said. They have been things that are my own fault rather than good pieces of bowling where I couldnt do much about it.I look back at a number of dismissals and think thats not good enough, Ive got to be doing better than that. It was almost like the final straw at Lords. Id really wound myself up and I knew having been moved up the order, being 1-0 down in the series, I needed to put a really big performance in.I worked really hard in practice and, after the Tests, spoke to Mark Ramprakash about areas I could potentially go further with my game.I asked him: is there anything I could be doing differently or better to offer more to the team. He said it must be your mental approach to things because your game looks in good order, youre playing well in the nets and you look pretty comfortable out there. One thing he said was are you mentally in the right place to play Test cricket at the minute?I didnt even think about that at the time. That sort of hurt me, that someone would say that to me. But it was a good motivator to get me in the right place for Old Trafford. It was actually exactly what I needed to hear. Thats why he is such a good batting coach and why he is getting a lot out of our batters at the moment.Part of the problem, Root believes, was adapting to playing all three formats of the game within a short space of time. While he dismisses any sense that he was tired or jaded, he does admit that adapting to the different tempos of the formats has challenged him and that, at times, he has lost his wicket in Tests to the sort of stroke that might have been more appropriate in the limited-overs formats. The way I was approaching things was still edging towards one-day cricket a bit, Root said. Maybe I was expecting to score at a certain rate or play in a way that didnt really suit the situation or the way the opposition were bowling. It may have had something to do with switching across three forms. I dont think its a fatigue thing. I was just trying to turn that mental approach from one-day cricket to Test cricket. Previously Ive got that right but on this occasion I dont think I did quite. The fact that Ramps picked up on that and I was able to turn that round in quite a short space of time was really pleasing. It was nice to have push in the right direction, which is probably what you need from the coaching staff. It is not the first time Root has used the pain of defeat to drive him to improve. He was stung by his experiences on the Ashes tour of 2013-14 when England were thrashed 5-0 and Root was, for the only time in his career, dropped from the Test team. But while he admits it was a tough experience at the time, he also feels he benefited from it. He believes it taught him not only which areas of his game he needed to improve, but how to react in adversity. But, most of all, it has given him a hunger to put things right. While England have a lot to think about before the next Ashes tour - not least a tour to India and the Champions Trophy next June - it is only about 15 months away and Root admits both to training with one eye on it and to dreaming of what he believes would be an immense victory. At the time, that tour was difficult for me, he said. More than anything when I look back at that series, it was the amount of things I tried to change when it wasnt going well.I learnt a lot on that trip about my technique, areas I needed to learn but also what were my strengths and the basics of my game. Now, in situations like that, I just try to strip my game down to the bare basics and really rely on what I know works consistently for me. I had the mental strength within myself to know that and not to panic and just keep working hard. So going through that experience really did help me.At no point over the last 12 months have I really felt out of form, and since the start of the summer my game has felt in a really good place even though I wasnt getting the big scores. That was the lesson I learnt from that trip and I suppose it is a big driver for me to keep improving and keep looking to go big when I get the chance. There are a few players in our squad who were on that tour and would like to get back out there and put some really strong performances in. Me and a few of the other guys are doing things now to get us ready for Australia and India and playing on different surfaces so that you dont just turn up and say I need to do this and I need to do that youve already got a base layer in your locker before you get there.I would imagine that winning in Australia is one of the best feelings in Test cricket. It was great watching the guys do it not long ago and the stories and memories from a few of the guys who are still playing now are great to hear about.Hearing it makes you very hungry to go and do it yourself. Weve got a really strong squad of players who can go and do something special over there. It would be immense to be on a winning tour down there having scored a lot of runs.Joe Root was speaking at his first club, Sheffield Collegiate CC, on behalf of Hardys Wine & their Heartbeat of the Club campaign. Sir Jackie Stewart has suggested Lewis Hamilton has lost his determination and focus for a fourth world title after losing the lead of the championship to Nico Rosberg.Hamilton, who last year became the only Brit to have matched Stewarts tally of three Formula One titles, trails his Mercedes teammate by eight points after the Germans win in Singapore. Hamilton was 43 points behind earlier in the season but six wins from seven races saw him go into the summer break with a commanding 19-point lead.Though an engine penalty made winning in Belgium highly unlikely and a perfect Monza weekend was spoiled by a slow getaway off the line, the world champion was uncharacteristically erratic in Singapore. Stewart thinks the last two and a half years of dominance -- which has seen him beat Rosberg to successive championships -- and Hamiltons extravagant lifestyle could have taken his eyes of the prize of a fourth crown.?Maybe you can bottom out, Stewart is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. That can happen through consiistent success because when you have consistent success everything can seem so easy. B.W. Webb Jersey. The Phoenix Mercury have played well on the road recently, and they just hope to get a full game out of their stars when they play at the slumping Atlanta Dream on Sunday. Benjamin Watson Jersey .Guard Diana Taurasi and center Brittney Griner were ejected in the third quarter of Friday nights home loss to the New York Liberty, ending a three-game winning streak for the Mercury. Two of those victories had come on the road -- at the hot Washington Mystics and at Eastern Conference-leading New York.Because of those ejections, Phoenix (7-10) might have a chip on its shoulder against Atlanta, which has lost five consecutive games to drop to 8-8.Griner was tossed from Friday nights game after arguing her fourth foul. WNBA scoring leading Tina Charles had been her main defensive assignment.Brittney, she gets hacked all the time, Mercury coach Sandy Brondello said after the game.Tina Charles, I mean shes a great player, but shes getting calls I dont think she should. Brittney Griner never gets those calls. I get frustrated, too. ... Brittney usually doesnt complain too much. I mean, she just lost her cool, which is understandable.Taurasi had some words for the officials before picking up her second technical, although Brondello said her star guard didnt swear.Taurasi is fourth in the league in scoring at 19.1 points per game. Griner averages 13.6 points and 6.5 rebounds. Phoenix has lots of other firepower, including forward DeWanna Bonner (15.2 points per game) and guard Penny Taylor (13.3).Atlanta guard Tiffany Hayes, who missed Tuesdays loss at Seattle because of a hamstring injury, returned with a career-high 32 points in Thursday nights loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. Forward Sancho Lyttle, who also missed the game in Seattle because of a hamstring, only played two minutes at Los Angeles.Forward Angel McCoughtry leads Atlanta with 19.4 points per game. Hayes averages 15.4. Center Elizabeth Williams averages 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds.Atlanta is the worst 3-point shooting team in the WNBA at 24.9 percent. This is the first of three meetings between the teams in the regular season. LOUIS -- Mike Smith is used to facing plenty of shots, so this was nothing new. VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova will soon have to pack its national championship banners and raise them in another gym during a season-long road trip. The outdated Pavilion is undergoing a needed face lift. The 2016 national champion Wildcats received a $22.6 million donation from an alumnus in April to renovate their arena, and plans are underway to use the cash to help give the gym a more contemporary feel.Because it takes time to add suites, concession stands and other amenities, the Wildcats will be forced to play a season on the road during construction.Earliest would be next year, coach Jay Wright told The Associated Press. It could be year after that, year after that. But its inevitable. And I think inevitable within the next two, three years. The Wildcats most logical new home would be the Palestra, the basketball cathedral on Penns campus and home of city hoops. Saint Josephs played its home games there in 2008-09 when its gym also underwent extensive renovations.Bill Finneran made the largest athletic gift in Villanova history to give the Pavilion an overhaul and support the mens program. Finneran is a 1963 Villanova alumnus and chairman and co-founder of EXOP Capital, a long/short hedge fund firm in New York.Unlike some deep-pocket boosters, his gift didnt come with a naming rights demand, and corporate sponsorship is on the table.I know the guy well. I dont think he cares, Wright said. I think its going to be a strategy tied in with fundraising. The arena has been without corporate sponsorship or an honorary title since 1997, when it stripped the last name of millionaire donor John du Pont. Du Pont, the subject of tthe film Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell, was convicted of the 1996 murder of Olympic gold medalist wrestler Mark Schultz. Trey Hendrickson Jersey. Du Pont had pledged $5 million to Villanova for the on-campus arena when it opened in 1986; school officials have said he actually gave the university between $500,000 and $1 million. The Pavilion opened in 1986 -- months after the `85 team won the national title -- and serves as the home arena for the mens and womens basketball programs. Its a multipurpose gym for other varsity and intramural sports. The 6,500-seat venue is more of a super-sized YMCA rather than a state-of-the art arena. There are sparse concession stands and restrooms and no true suites and other high-end amenities. Courtside seats are filled with aging, deep-pocketed alumni instead of passionate students that would create a big-game atmosphere. Its not a great venue to watch basketball. Its not, Wright said, laughing. Weve got to gut it and weve got to make everything better. The fan experience, the sightlines, amenities, suites. Its got to be a major project. And its got to be an all-basketball arena. The Wildcats play three to six games a season at the Wells Fargo Center, the home of the NBAs 76ers, and generally pack the 20,000-seat arena. We want to keep the unique experience that our games during the week, well play here on campus. Southeastern Conference quarterbacks take plenty of heat off the field, and this year will probably take even more on it. Jordy Nelson Jersey .The league is loaded with star pass rushers, some of them highly rated NFL prospects, even if the SEC is short on established passers. The SECs top 10 pass sack leaders return. Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, Alabama linebacker Tim Williams and defensive end Jonathan Allen, Tennessee end Derek Barnett and Mississippi end Marquis Haynes all are back after reaching double digits in sacks last season. That surplus of talented, hard-to-block edge rushers is nothing new considering the SEC has had 36 defensive linemen or linebackers selected in the first round of the NFL draft over the past decade, many of them outside linebackers and ends.So maybe Williams, Alabamas quarterback-harassing outside linebacker, can follow Von Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in 2011. Perhaps Texas A&Ms Garrett can at least come close to Jadeveon Clowneys status as the top pick two years ago.If you can do it in the SEC, you can do it anywhere, said Charles Harris, Missouris latest in a line of stellar pass rushers. Thats how I feel.Of the five sack leaders all but Williams ranked among the nations top 20 in sacks per game, and he was a specialist on a deep front seven who played limited snaps.Only played on third down, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. Never had another role on the team.OK, few teams have that luxury. But Williams, whose role is expected to increase significantly, and Allen both opted to return for their senior seasons instead of entering the draft. At least seven SEC ends and outside linebackers have already been listed as potential first-round picks according to various mock drafts, with Barnett and Garrett pegged as candidates for the Top 10.Weve got a bunch of good d-linemen in this conference -- a lot, said Barnett.Enough of them that Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze notes the importance of a viable play action threat, because pass setting against the defensive linemen that we face in this league, its hard to make a living at that.Heres a look at some of the SECs top pass rushers:-The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Garrett has racked up 24 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss in his first two years and was a finalist for the Lombardi and Hendricks awards. He plays opposite Daeshon Hall, whos even bigger and had seven sacks.Weve got two of the best defensive ends in the country in Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said at SEC media days.Garrett said they create openings for each other. Hes just as effective as me, he said.-With Allen and Williams, Alabama also has a formidable pass rushing duo. The 6-3, 291-pound Allen had 12 sacks last season, with 11 coming against ranked teams. He plays like a bullet, Tide safety Eddie Jackson said.Williams had 10.5 sacks on just 148 pass rushing snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, which said he had an average of one pressure per 2.8 pass rushing attempts. Ohio States Joey Bosa, the third overall draft pick, averaged one pressure for every 4.9 attempts, PFF said.-Barnetts 20 sacks through two seasons is just 12 shy of Reggie Whites Tennessee record set from 1980-83. He had nine sacks in the last eight games in 2015. Hes a savage when hes out on the field, Volunteers defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said.-Ole Misss Haynes tied the school record as a sophomore with 10 sacks and has 17.5 in his first two seasons.-Missouris Harris led the SEC in tackles for loss per game, racking up 18.5 in 12 outings. He follows in a line of pass rushing ends like 2015 first-rounder Shane RayCharles is one of the next great ones, in my opinion, Missouri coach Barry Odom said.--AP Sports Writer Steve Megargee contributed to this report. Cornerback Mike Hughes had himself one helluva debut , helping the Minnesota Vikings (1-0) to a 24-16 win over the San Francisco 49ers (0-1)The 5-11 191 pound rookie out of the University of Central Florida made several plays during the game that showed the type of talent that Head Coach Mike Zimmer saw back in April, when he made Hughes the 30th pick.Play Number OneQ1 9:374th & 14, ball on the 49ersí 38As the Vikings first drive of the game stalled out, the punt team was brought in.Matt Wile booted a nice punt inside the five yard line, and Mike Hughes - in the words of Fox Color Analyst Charles Davis - ďbecame the punt returner, even though he was punt coverage.ĒHughes shook off the decoy of the 49ersí rookie return man Dante Pettis, found the ball, and made a beautiful recovery and catch, to down the ball at the four yard line.Play Number Two Q2 12:002nd & 11 (TV graphic originally shows 2nd & 6), ball on the Vikings 25On this play, Hughes is matched up one on one against Pierre Garcon in the slot.Garoppolo sees the cushion that the rookie is giving his veteran wideout, and immediately looks Garconís way.Hughes, though, lets Garcon come to him, establishes himself in a position to make a play on the ball, reaches in and bats the ball away just as Safety Andrew Sendejo puts a lick on Garcon.Garcon was well past the line that would have given the 49ers a first down. The result of the drive, after a Garoppolo incompletion, was a Niners field goal. Play Number ThreeQ3 10:483rd & 8, ball on the 49ersí 20This was the biggest play of the day from Mike Hughes.Still down by a score of 10-3 Linval Joseph Jersey , San Francisco lines up in a three wide shotgun set, one play after Tight End George Kittle let a wide open pass drop through his fingertips.Jayron Kearse is covering Dante Pettis in the slot, Xavier Rhodes is covering Trent Taylor wide left, and Mike Hughes is giving a five yard cushion to wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.Kearse blitzes, leaving Pettis uncovered momentarily.Garoppolo stared down Bourne, who slipped on the play.Hughes never took his eyes off of Garoppolo, and snatched the ball out of the air with his momentum already heading back towards the end zone.He then scampered 28 yards untouched for the score.Play Number FourQ3 9:243rd & 6, ball on the Vikings 15Vikings are lined up in what appears to be a single high zone scheme.Hughes is lined up wide left, and when 49ers Running Back Matt Breida motions all the way out left, Hughes follows.All-Pro safety Harrison Smith is lined up over Pierre Garcon, slot left.Linebacker Eric Kendricks is over the tight end, and as the ball is snapped, he and Smith switch assignments. Within the first few steps, itís clear that Garcon has Kendricks beat, and Garoppolo sends the ball towards his veteran receiver.Hughes realizes that his only chance to make a play is to try and take out Garcon, and he knocks into the big receiver, forcing Garcon to drop the ball.It appeared as though Hughes maybe wasnít quite prepared for the force at which Garcon would hit him, and he came down flat on his back. But he picked himself up and got back into the action.Again, this play forced the 49ers to settle for a field goal. The CaveatQ4 12:243rd & 3 Authentic Laquon Treadwell Jersey , ball on the San Francisco 21If all this praise is going to be lavished on the rookie, then itís only fair to point out a gaffe. The only negative play that can be directly chalked up to Mike Hughes against the 49ers was the 39 yard catch and run from Garoppolo to Dante Pettis.Pettis put a nice move on Hughes, who was forced to chase down Pettis from behind. To Hughesí credit, he did, and again, the Niners were held to just a field goal on the drive. All in all, Mike Hughes put together a great game on Sunday.Itís a small sample size, but if his play was any indication of the future, the Vikings found a gem deep in the first round.Couldnít agree more, young man.Couldnít agree more.Tuesday Open Thread: August 21, 2018 Happy Tuesday, everyone!Hey, sorry for the truncated open thread yesterday. Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse Ė a survey of fans across the NFL , powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week, we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Patriots fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse. After their dominant week four victory over the visiting Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots were back on track: the teamís offense appeared to finally be back in sync again, while the defense almost pitched a shutout against an explosive opponent. The win did not only bring the team back to .500 on the year, it also had an impact on how the fanbase views it.The Patriotsí 38-7 win against the Dolphins gave the team the biggest confidence jump in the league in our weekly FanPulse survey: while only 31% of fans participating still felt confident in the direction the team was headed after its week three loss in Detroit, the number jumped to 73% following the Dolphins game:After having the least confidence fanbase in the AFC East one week ago, the Patriots are now back on top in the division:How will yesterdayís win against the Indianapolis Colts Ė one during which the team looked unstoppable at times but also struggled with sloppy play in the third quarter Ė impact the Patriotsí confidence score? It will likely climb back to at least the level it had before New Englandís loss against the Lions, when the team sat at 76%.The real test will come in nine days, though: the Patriots will face a Kansas City Chiefs team that has looked like an offensive juggernaut so far this season.Patriots Fantasy Football Matchups: Week 5 vs Indianapolis Colts As an avid fantasy football participant, I plan to start a weekly analysis of the New England Patriots and their current matchup in terms of fantasy football. This is my analysis and estimations of stats heading into week 5. Good luck with all of your match-ups!Quarterbacks Ahhhh, everyone can take a deep breath now. Patriots fans can go back to listening to sports radio, back to wearing throwback Tom Brady jerseys, and revived those Super Bowl dreams! Better yet, we play against a struggling Indianapolis Colts tonight. Now , I am one of those fans who enjoys Thursday night football games, unless it is the Patriots. I hate the injury risk and the potential to see anything less than 100% different than what we might see if the game was played on Sunday instead. However, it is a nice mid-week exposure to football and always fun to watch for fantasy football purposes, so letís dive in! Does it seem possible that the last time the Patriots played the Colts was in 2015? It seems like just about every year we battle them early in the playoffs or have a post bye week matchup. However, in the past couple battles between Andrew Luck and Tom Brady, one quarterback has generally been more successful. You guessed it Pats fans, Tom Brady! Postseason Luck sucks eggs, where regular season Luck has been decent. Looking ahead to tonight, Brady is a must start with Edelman coming back. The robin to his batman. I havenít been this excited for a player to return since potentially Gronk back in the day. Luck should have minimal luck tonight, so I would leave him on the bench. Final Prediction: Tom Brady: 333 yards, 3 touchdownsAndrew Luck: 270 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interception Tight Ends Early reports show that Gronkowski is going to play through his ankle injury and suit up tonight, exactly how many snaps is a question though. Either way, start Gronk. This offense is getting up to full speed Womens Eric Rowe Jersey , and when that happens, every offensive player is elevated. On the blue and white side of the ball, Eric Ebron has been benefitting from a Jack Doyle injury and with TY Hilton sitting out tonight, should have a pretty good game. Ebron has scored in 3 out of the 4 games so far this year and has been targeted double digits these past two games. Final Prediction: Rob Gronkowski: 4 receptions, 55 yards, 1 touchdownEric Ebron: 7 receptions, 76 yards, 1 touchdown Running Backs One of the bright spots in a perfect bounce back game last week was the running backs for the Patriots. Sony Michel and James White dominated at their specialty and proved this backfield can work. Fair warning, weíve seen this before *cough, Jonas Gray, cough*, where one week the backfield rules and the next game, they are non-existent. While I can guarantee neither of these RBs will have a Gray-like disappearance, I just cautious those fantasy owners wanting to trade the Kings ransom for one of these RBs. With the return of Edelman, James White will suffer the most as Julz will take a good chunk of his receiving targets. Both RBs can be started this week. As far as the Colts RBs , it is a gamble between Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkes. My vote would be on Hines in the flex since he gets more of the receiving targets Final Predictions:James White: 22 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 47 receiving yardsSony Michel: 72 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown Nyheim Hines: 22 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 67 receiving yards, 1 touchdown Wide Receivers Queue up Public Service Announcement by Jay Z and watch the goosebumps rise as Tom Brady and his main man, Julian Edelman run out together tonight. This will be a special moment all around, not just because Edelman is back, but because he is playing with Gronk for the first time since 2016! Now throw into the mix Josh Gordon, my goodness, this offense could potentially be one of the best the Patriots ever had. I liked what I saw last week out of Josh Gordon and from all the praise we have heard out of Patriots camp, I am very optimistic about Gordon fitting in. Start Edelman and Gordon this week. Consider Dorsett in the flex and leave Chris Hogan on the bench. You can also feel comfortable starting Colts Ryan Grant since T.Y. Hilton will be out, Luck will not have many options to go to tonight. Final Prediction:Julian Edelman: 5 receptions, 56 receiving yards Authentic Stephon Gilmore Jersey , 2 touchdowns Josh Gordon: 3 receptions, 42 receiving yardsPhillip Dorsett: 3 receptions, 37 yardsRyan Grant: 8 receptions, 77 receiving yards, 1 touchdown Defense Ok, I gave the Patriots defense another chance last week, and they did not disappoint. We will roll with them again this week and see if true adjustments have been made. Iíve said before, the talent is there, they just need to execute, and they will be fine. Besides, Andrew Luck is almost always good for an INT or two. Waiver wire hunting this week brings me to San Francisco playing at home against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are a mess on offense and can implode at any time. Just have to hope David Johnson doesnít take over.

If you were to ask any members from the staff here who their draft crush was prior to 2017 NFL Draft , you would get a single, resounding answer.Patrick Mahomes. *cries a single, manly tear*To our great dismay, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up in the first round of that draft to select the gunslinger from Texas Tech and have cursed us with having to watch a hated division rival if we want to enjoy the highly-anticipated career of Mahomes.Head Coach Andy Reid just canít stop being a thorn in the side of Charger fans....#SMHItís been four years and eight divisional match-ups since the Chargers have won a game against the Chiefs. Since the 2015 season, in which the team went 4-12 and won a whopping zero games against division against zero opponents, the Chargers have been able to fight back some of the demons keeping them at the bottom of the division. This past season, the Bolts were a blocked field goal away from possibly sweeping the broncos (including a stellar shutout in the second match-up) on top of sweeping the Oakland Raiders.Iím not one to encourage getting hopes up but this year is set up nicely for some good things to happen. Yeah, yeah, I know I sound like a broken record but relying on a pessimistic mindset wonít make this season any better even if something bizarre happens. But just hear me out.The Chiefs have a first-year starter at quarterback and, no matter how good he may be, the Chargers can take advantage of this situation with their #1 EDGE rushing duo in the NFL. Mahomes is known for his street-ball play-style that can also come around to spite him when we also have the plethora of ball-hawks waiting and salivating for his first mistake.I donít know about you, but that first regular season game is looking much more like a trap game for the young QB than a potential ninth loss in a row for the Chargers.OffenseAlex Smith is finally gone from the Chiefs and I for one could not be any more pumped. When the Chiefs obtained Smith from the 49ers, I didnít think much of it. He was a sub-par QB his entire career and I didnít think much would change. Thatís until Reid turned him into the Chargersí own version of the boogeyman as he has haunted our dreams for the last four years. No longer is he able to spite us with his running abilities when the defense does everything right. No longer must we deal with his knack for not turning the ball over. The future looks much less bleak without him under center. The next biggest change to the offensive side of the ball for the Chiefs is the acquisition of wide receiver Sammy Watkins from the LA Rams. After a year that saw Watkins collect an efficient 39-593-8 stat line with McVay and Co., Watkins becomes a new all-around threat for an explosive offense that already includes Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt. The offensive talent is roughly the only thing that still may keep me up at night with this team. For scouting purposes, itís good that not much has changed other than the two stated above. The Chiefs felt so confident in there offense that they spent every pick of theirs in the last draft on defensive players. Not surprising when the offense is coming off a season where they helped set career passing marks for Smith while also being able to claim the seasonís rushing leader in Kareem Hunt.DefenseOn the flip-side , the Chiefs were able to obtain some outstanding value-picks while working without a first-round pick this year. They werenít on the board until the 46th overall pick in the second round. With their first selection, KC reached quite a bit for defensive end Breeland Speaks out of Ole Miss. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder has the potential to play defensive end and outside linebacker in the Chiefsí defense but may be better suited for the former. In the third round, Kansas City selected another draft-darling of the staff in defensive tackle Derrick Nnandi from Florida State. At 6-foot-1 and tipping the scales at 317 pounds, Nnandi seemed like a natural fit as a run-stuffing 1-techique in Bradleyís offense with Brandon Mebane inching closer and closer to retirement. Their fourth-round selection, Clemson outside linebacker/safety prospect Dorian OíDaniel, is a second defensive name to highlight that had ties to the Bolts through the draft prospect. After Gus Bradley often used safety Adrian Phillips in a Nickel/Dime linebacker role this past season, OíDaniel seemed like a perfect prospect with the potential to play that part on the defense going forward. The Chiefs rounded out day three of the draft by selecting safety Armani Watts, cornerback Tremon Smith, and defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie out of Texas A&M, Central Arkansas, and Tennessee, respectively. The good news about the majority of these players is that their all currently relegated to back-up duty going into training camp with only possibly Nnandi being able to crack the starting lineup over Xavier Williams, a third-year player they nabbed via Arizona. As far as other new faces, middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens joins the team after several solid years with the Cowboys. He will likely join Reggie Ragland in the middle of the defense after Derrick Johnsonís departure to Oakland earlier this year. With Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters no longer in the secondary, this defensive backfield wonít likely give Philip Rivers the same fits that they have been over the last few years. However, rising-star cornerback Kendall Fuller made his way to Kansas City in return for the Chiefs shipping Alex Smith out east to Washington so I canít say the secondary will be that much of a pushover.Special TeamsNot a thing will change involving the Chiefsí special teams unit heading into the 2018 season. Dustin Colquitt will remain at punter while second-year kicker Harrison Butker looks to build on a phenomenal rookie campaign where he connected on 38-of-42 field goals.Tyreek Hill remains as the deep man for punt and kick returns as he is a threat to take it all the way whenever he touches the ball. What are you predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs this season? Will they take a step back or continue their recent success? Let us know.Breaking down the Chargers defensive game plan against the Bills If there is any good news following the Los Angeles Chargers sloppy and humiliating loss to the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs Youth Kyzir White Jersey , itís that itís squarely in the rear-view mirror Ė and thank God for that. After a full week of practice, and hopefully a whole lot of film study, theyíre headed to Buffalo for a Sunday tilt with Josh Allen and the hapless Bills. As you probably know by now, the Bills lost to the Ravens by 44 points last week in a game that saw Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen take six sacks and turn the ball over twice. This is not an offensive unit that did much of anything well in its season opener, as you might expect from a team that managed only three points, was 2/11 on third down, and recorded a measly eight first downs in 60:00 of football.Based on what they did, or didnít do against the Ravens, as the case may be; the Bills look like a perfect get-well match-up for a Chargers defense that struggled in its own right in its season-opener. With that in mind, letís take a look at my defensive game plan for Sundayís game against the Bills鈥tack the boxEveryone knows Bills head coach Sean McDermott wants to run the ball, and Sunday should be no different. It obviously gets LeSean McCoy involved early, but it also helps them protect Josh Allen as he makes his first NFL start. The problem is, his offensive line is brutal and, as mentioned above, everyone knows itís coming. Yes, even Gus Bradley should be prepared for it.Thatís why I expect to see eight and nine-man boxes on early downs. Look for the Chargers to attempt to eliminate running lanes by crowding the line of scrimmage. Iíd also expect a steady diet of slants from the Chargers defensive tackles and, hopefully , a focus on A-gap blitzes as Gus Bradley looks to challenge the interior of the Buffalo offensive line.Gang tackleAs mentioned above, we all know the Bills will try to run the ball early. And, as we saw in this matchup last year, LeSean McCoy isnít exactly easy to bring down in tight quarters, or in the open field. He shredded the Chargers nickel and dime defenses for 114 yards on 14 carries last season and will look to repeat that performance in front of his home crowd on Sunday. The Chargers must rally to the football as a team and gang tackle McCoy. They canít afford to stand and watch their teammates try to bring him down one-on-one in the open field when one missed tackle could lead to a 70-yard house call. The second level of the Los Angeles defense, in particular, has to play through the whistle and bring Shady down the first time, or it could be a long, long day in Buffalo.Fire in the holeAside from a general lack of accuracy, the biggest thing that plagued Josh Allen in college was an inability to identify and adjust to on-coming blitzes. He would frequently misdiagnose blitzes, hold the ball, and take bad sacks in his haste to push the ball down the field Ė and that hasnít really changed to this point in his very young NFL career. The goal for the Chargers defense should be to create an immediate sense of chaos in the pocket by making the rookie feel trapped and crowded on every pass drop. That starts with twists, slants and stunts designed to drive the Buffalo interior line into Allenís lap, but it also means hammering the A-gaps with blitzes and sending players like Derwin James, Desmond King and Kyzir White off the edges. If all goes to plan, the Buffalo signal-caller should be confused and more focused on the pass rush than he is on his receivers by the start of the second half.Press onThe Buffalo receivers looked lethargic against Baltimore. Zay Jones, Kelvin Benjamin and Jeremy Kerley struggled to separate Joey Bosa Jersey , dropped balls, and didnít seem overly interested in going out of their way to help their quarterbacks. This is a group that played slow on tape and, perhaps even more alarmingly, a couple of them appeared to check out and alligator-arm balls once the team fell behind. They represent the perfect matchup for the Chargers secondary, which thrived on being physical and aggressive in 2017; even if they werenít given the opportunity to do that against the Chiefs last week. Iíd like to see Gus Bradley let them crowd and jam Benjamin, Jones and Kerley as frequently as possible, daring the receivers to beat them over the top and creating tight windows for Josh Allen in the passing game.Despite what unfolded against the Chiefs last week, I do not anticipate the Bills posing much of a challenge for the Bolts on Sunday. I just donít think theyíre very good on either side of the ball and I expect the visitors to find ways to speed the game up and force critical errors from Josh Allen in his first career start. As long as they stack the box, gang tackle McCoy, attack Allen from multiple angles and press those wide receivers, this should be a fairly easy win for Anthony Lynnís team.Thatís my game plan, whatís yours? Let me have it in the comments section鈥

Tampa Bay was supposed to lose this week.In any event , the NFC South got a little tighter in Week 2. Hereís how it all happened.Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty ImagesComing into Week 2, the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints were still looking for their first win of the season. The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were each coming off strong Week 1 showings, looking to ride momentum into week two. Tampa Bay, facing the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, were able to do just that, winning 27-21. The Carolina Panthers werenít quite as lucky Marcus Williams Jersey , as the Atlanta Falcons handed the Panthers their first loss of the season, 31-24. The New Orleans Saints were able to escape Week 2 with their first win of the season, hanging on to beat the Cleveland Browns 21-18.That leaves the Buccaneers atop the division at 2-0, with the Panthers, Falcons, and Saints all sitting one back back with an even 1-1 record.Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesIn Week 3 Authentic Alvin Kamara Jersey , the Saints have their first game on the road, traveling to the division rival Atlanta Falcons. The Carolina Panthers host the AFC Northís Cincinnati Bengals. Both of those games are at noon on Sunday. The Buccaneers host another AFC North team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, on Monday Night Football. The Steelers beating the Buccaneers and the Bengals beating the Panthers are both very plausible scenarios. But first things first: #BeattheFalconsSaints release Mike Gillislee to make room for Mark Ingram Mike Gillisleeís time in New Orleans is up, as the Saints have released him to make room for Mark Ingram according to Saturdayís NFL Transaction Report. It should come as no surprise to anyone, as Gillislee wasnít cutting the mustard Youth Drew Brees Jersey , and Ingram is expected return to form for Sean Paytonís offense. The Saints leaned heavily on Alvin Kamara (56 carries, 275 yards, 5 TDs) for the first four weeks of the season, and it has paid off in a big way. The team tried using the likes of Jonathan Williams and Dwayne Washington in addition to Gillislee, but all three of them combined couldnít even total what Taysom Hill did on the ground (7 carries, 67 yards).Ingram is coming off back-to-back 1 ,000-yard seasons, with a stellar 2017 campaign that put him in the Pro Bowl. Heís just 735 yards from becoming New Orleansí all-time leading rusher, and needs just over 61 yards/game rushing to get there with 12 left in the teamís regular season.

MIAMI -- Zach Eflin, a Florida native who is from the Orlando area, will pitch in his home state for the first time as a major-leaguer on Wednesday. Austin Johnson Jersey .He will oppose Marlins left-hander Adam Conley, a 26-year-old who has emerged as Miamis No. 2 starter. The Marlins (54-46) and Phillies (46-56) have split the first two games of the series entering Wednesdays finale.Eflin, 22, was drafted in the first round (supplemental), 33rd overall, in 2012, straight out of high school. He has already been traded twice -- by the San Diego Padres as a part of a package to get outfielder Matt Kemp and by the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a deal to get shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Now, though, Eflin has settled in as one of the Phillies brightest hopes in the rotation. He has pitched two complete games this month -- highly unusual in todays major leagues, especially for a rookie. His most recent start was a three-hit shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Eflin walked no one and needed only 100 pitches to earn his third win. He is 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA overall.Eflin has come a long way since June 14, when he made his big-league debut in an 11-3 loss at the Toronto Blue Jays. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walking three and allowing nine hits and nine runs, eight earned. The Jays hit three homers off Eflin. After his debut, we were kind of surprised because he was advertised as a guy with good command, Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. He pitches to both sides of the plate, but we didnt see that (in his debut). But its not unusual for a (rookie) to come up, and the catcher doesnt really know him, so they dont pitch to his strength.Mackanin said Eflin has improved incrementally since his debut. His command has been really good, Mackanin said. To pitch the way hes pitching, thats one of the things Im really excited about with (our team), the young starters we have. Our pitching has been probably our best strength because of our young starters.Miamis rotation has been mostly erratic once you get past All-Star Jose Fernandez. But Conley (6-5, 3.58 ERA) has had a good July.Conley is 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA this month, striking out 21 batters in 23 innings.Hes been pretty reliable, Marlins manager Don Mattingly said of Conley, who is 1-0 against the Phillies this year. I think hes going to get better. With time, experience and general strength, I think he will get more consistent over time.In other story lines for Wednesdays game:Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, who went 1-for-5 and also stole a base on Tuesday, needs three more hits for 3,000. Manager Don Mattingly has not said if Suzuki will be in Wednesdays starting lineup. In addition, Suzukis 507 steals are the most among active players.Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton has 523 career RBI, which ties him with former Marlins star Miguel Cabrera for third place in franchise history. With one more RBI, Stanton will be alone in third place.Marlins closer A.J. Ramos (finger) was not available Tuesday. His status is day to day.Phillies outfielder Peter Bourjos left Tuesdays game with an injury to his right shoulder. He is day-to-day. Wholesale Tennessee Titans Jerseys . NEW YORK -- Bartolo Colon and Max Scherzer are headed to the All-Star Game, picked as replacements for other pitchers originally selected to the National League team. Kyle Lauletta Jersey .Major League Baseball also announced Friday that Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders and San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt won the final two All-Star roster spots, elected by fans in online balloting. This is a proud moment for me and my family, Saunders said. Everyone knows that Canada takes care of their own. Im Canadian through and through. Just to feel that support, the best way I can describe, everyones been asking me, is I feel loved by this country. To see the support they gave me is very humbling.Saunders joins the American League team, while Belt gets a slot on the NL squad.Extremely excited, obviously. Its hard to put into words, Belt said. I just cant believe that Im an All-Star this year. Its pretty cool, especially when you step back and think about how many fans voted and how many times they voted, how many messages that I got of how their thumbs were numb. Its pretty overwhelming to think about. The 43-year-old Colon was chosen to replace Madison Bumgarner in Tuesdays showcase in San Diego because the Giants ace is scheduled to pitch Sunday against Arizona.A fan favorite with the New York Mets, Colon is 7-4 with a 3.28 ERA. He was picked by his own manager -- Terry Collins of the Mets will lead the NL team.It means a lot, especially for someone my age, Colon said through a translator. It surprised me a lot.In one of the most stunning and charming moments of the season, Colon homered in San Diego in early May, becoming the oldest player to hit his first major league home run.The hefty right-hander said his fourth All-Star nod (first in the NL) was very meaningful to him because hes in the final stages of his career. He said hed like to pitch one more season in the majors if healthy. When I asked him if he wanted to go the All-Star Game, he said yes. He didnt say, hey, I need to rest, Im 43 years old, Im shot. He said, `Thank you, Id like to go. So hes going to go, Collins said, drawing laughs.Scherzer (9-6, 3.21 ERA, major league-leading 155 strikeouts) was selected to his fourth straight All-Star Game. He will substitute for Washington Nationals teammate Stephen Strasburg, who came off the disabled list this week and wont pitch in the showcase as a precaution. Strasburg, who is from San Diego, plans to attend the game, the Nationals said.Max was excited. Never seen a veteran guy as elated as he, to be a part of the All-Star Game, Washington manager Dusty Baker said. I think hes a good representative to show people what a privilege and an honor it is to go.Strasburg (12-0) started Friday night and beat the New York Mets 3-1 in his second outing since coming off the DL. He returned from an upper back strain Sunday against Cincinnati.Because of Stephens injury that he just came off of, being on three days rest, it would have cost him time again with us, Baker said. So Im just glad that hes going, especially in his hometown. But theres a lot of risk for Stephen since he just came off the DL and you dont know how hes going to come through this game tonight. So everybody decided itd be better that he doesnt start or pitch.Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte finished second just behind Belt, who received 10.4 million votes. He also beat out Colorado rookie shortstop Trevor Story, Arizona third baseman Jake Lamb and Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun.Houston outfielder George Springer was runner-up to Saunders, who garnered 17.7 million votes. He struck 10 fours and a six in his 78 ball knock and added 75 for the eighth wicket with Wagg.Leach struck twice in an over to remove Wagg and Michael Hogan before Barnard accounted for Lukas Carey. It completed a fourth five-wicket haul of the season for Leach who returned 5-106 from 22 overs to take his Championship tally to 45 for the campaign.Worcestershire needed a solid start to their reply but Brett DOliveira drove loosely at Wagg and was caught behind.Skipper Daryl Mitchell looked in good touch but after making 33 he pulled a short ball from Carey into the hands of Craig Meschede at mid wicket but then came the Fell-Clarke rescue act. COLLEGE PARK, Md. Harrison Phillips Jersey . -- Maryland coach Brenda Frese wondered if her players were fully awake for their late morning tip-off against in-state foe Mount St. Marys. They had turnovers, breakdowns on defense and uncharacteristically missed open shots. However, it didnt take long for the No. 6 Terrapins to fix the problem. Brionna Jones finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 6 Maryland rout the Mountaineers 106-42 on Friday.Ieshia Small had 14 points off the bench for Maryland (3-0). Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Kaila Charles and Jenna Staiti added 10 points apiece for the Terrapins, who shot 58 percent from the field.I thought we had a really slow, sluggish start, Frese said. Our shots werent falling and we werent as crisp as we usually are. The second half was a much better indicator of how we want to play for 40 minutes. The Mountaineers (1-2) trailed only 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. But the Terrapins used their size to take control. The 6-foot-3 Jones scored 12 points to boost the lead to 34-18 with 3:37 left in the second quarter. We have a lot of weapons on our team, Jones said. Anybody can come off the bench and score. Were just going to keep playing our brand of basketball. The Mountaineers tried to stay in the game by hoisting three-pointers, but they went 3 of 21 and trailed 37-20 at the break. They finished 7 of 32 from behind the arc.A pair of free throws and layup by freshman Destiny Slocum boosted the margin to 57-25 midway through the third quarter, and the only uncertainty was whether Maryland would score 100 or more points for the third straight game.A 3-pointer by Sarah Myers gave Maryland a 100-39 lead late in the fourth quarter.Katrice Dickson led Mount St. Marys with 12 points.I thought we played really well in the first quarter, Mountaineers coach Bryan Whitten. We became very undisciplined on the offensive side in the second quarter. You give up 37 points in the first half, you think youre in a good spot.BIG PICTUREMount St. Marys: The Mountaineers started four guards to play uptempo and put their best shooters in the floor. The strategy worked early before the Terrapins did a better job protecting the ball and wearing them down.Maryland: Frese is pleased with the quick start of her team, which has averaged 104 points in three games against much weaker programs. Her deep roster will help create matchup problems for most opponents this season.FAB FRESHMANMaryland freshmen Destiny Slocum and Kaila Charles were in the starting lineup for the third consecutive game. Both played well enough to maintain those spots. Charles scored in double figures for the third time, and Slocum has seamlessly run the plays at point guard.FINDING A HOMEThe Mountaineers Mikal Johnson, a graduate transfer, is playing for her third college program. Johnson played two seasons at Rider, where she was a MAAC All-Rookie Team selection, and then one year at Liberty.
