FORT WORTH, Texas -- When Kenny Hill first got to TCU, after a semester away from the big-college atmosphere, he thought his new teammates might have their own idea of Kenny Trill -- his quarterback alter ego who had a dynamic debut succeeding a Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M, and also a quick downfall. Cory Spangenberg Jersey .So Hill kept his head down, didnt say much and just tried to prove he was deserving of the second chance. He came in being very humble. As soon as he came in, you could tell he came in trying to prove himself through his work ethic to gain our trust and confidence, senior receiver Deante Gray said Tuesday. Hes been very transparent with everybody, very open in talking to everybody and just becoming a Frog.On Saturday, Hill is starting for 13th-ranked TCU in its season opener at home against South Dakota State. And he is beyond grateful to coach Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs for the opportunity on college footballs highest level again.Hill hasnt played since replacing Johnny Manziel for the 2014 season, which opened with him setting a Texas A&M single-game record with 511 yards passing in a 52-28 win at South Carolina in primetime. The Aggies started 5-0, but then lost three straight while Hill struggled. Later, he was suspended two games for violating team rules and didnt play again.Instead of immediately going to TCU, Hill spent the 2015 spring semester taking classes at a junior college near his home in nearby Southlake, Texas, spending time with family and also visiting Horned Frogs practices in the spring. It just allowed me to like reflect and really find out more about myself and grow as a person, said Hill, the son of former major league pitcher Ken Hill. And it gave me a chance to like to go back to church, and get right with the man upstairs something, which is something I needed. After the fast success with the Aggies, people started calling him Kenny Football in line with Manziels moniker. The quarterback instead preferred Kenny Trill -- a play off the hybrid hip-hop adjective combining true and real. His parents even sought a trademark to the nickname. It was crazy, blowing up overnight like that, Hill said. Its something like you always dream of and you always want, but at the same time, I wasnt really ready for it yet.Hills suspension for violating team rules was his second at Texas A&M. The previous spring, before becoming the starter as a sophomore, Hill was arrested in College Station and charged with public intoxication and giving police a fake name. He was reinstated before training camp and allowed to compete for the starting job. After Hill left College Station, one of his former high school coaches reached out to Sonny Cumbie, the TCU co-offensive coordinator who was at Texas Tech when he recruited the Texas prep state champion. Hill then met with Patterson, who already knew what happened but wanted to hear it from the young quarterback. That was probably the toughest thing is just going back and talking through all that, Hill saidPatterson encouraged Hill to attend junior college to get out of the limelight, kind of below the surface. He wasnt going to be able to play for TCU last season anyway because of NCAA transfer rules. He needed to get back and just get back to being Kenny Hill, the kid I knew when I recruited him out of high school, Patterson said. I did it more for the betterment for him, than it was me. Obviously youd to like to get him in, but it was one of those things, you didnt need to have kids here asking questions.Cumbie, the TCU quarterback coach, said Hill seems more guarded since high school. But Cumbie also sees a player that has matured and is motivated to prove his early success at Texas A&M was no fluke.Hes already proven himself for real to some at TCU. All-Big 12 defensive end Josh Carraway said it can be frustrating chasing the elusive quarterback in practice. They call it a sack, but in my head, Im thinking no way I got him, Carraway said, about when the whistle blows stopping plays. Theres no way, nobodys catching him. Custom San Diego Padres Jerseys . 31, the CFL club announced Monday. The team also has yet to decide on the future of Doug Berry, who began the season as a consultant to the head coach but took over the offensive co-ordinators duties in July. Austin Hedges Jersey . The nimble-footed quarterback got his wish, dashing through the snow and a weary defence all the way into the NCAA record book. . "Theyve both been real good," said Babcock. "Havent changed our minds." A decision has seemingly been made - Sundays Group B-deciding tilt against Finland ahead - but it could not have been an easy one. Price opened the tournament with a sturdy 19-save performance against the Norwegians, yielding just one goal. PITTSBURGH -- Technically, the calls were different. In the Pittsburgh Steelers huddle, however, the translation was the same: Get the ball to LeVeon Bell and get out of the way.Six straight times in the fourth quarter last Sunday against New York, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took the snap, turned around and put the ball in the hands of Pittsburghs increasingly versatile and seemingly tireless running back. And six straight times Bell pushed the pile forward, protecting the lead, the ball to help put the finishing touches on a 24-14 victory.Obviously were trying to end the game and obviously they know that, Bell said. Were just running the ball against their will and they cant slow us down or stop us. It gives you a motivation boost.A reality check, too.The offense that talked about putting up 30 points every week hasnt reached that total during the three-game winning streak thats pulled the Steelers (7-5) out of a midseason swoon and back into the thick of the AFC playoff race. Instead, Pittsburgh is leaning more heavily on a dominant line and Bells fresh legs.Roethlisberger has thrown it 94 times and handed off 87 times over the last 12 quarters. While he insists its simply taking advantage of what the defense is giving it, theres a little bit more at play. The wide receivers behind Antonio Brown have been a bit of a mess due to injuries and the defense is young and thin, particularly along the line. So why not burn the clock, give it to one of the best all-around players in the league and take your chances?I think LeVeon got it going, said tackle Chris Hubbard, who occasionally enters as a tight end to give the Steelers a little more push up front. We found what were good at and what were comfortable with and we got into a rhythm. One that might not be so great for fantasy owners but works pretty well on the actual field. It might not look as pretty on the scoreboard as it did while averaging 34 points in their first four victories, but it seems the Steelers are fine with ditching style points for substance. At the end of the day, its December football, Bell said. We understand everybody is fighting for position. We just want to get the job done. Thats all there is too it.The explosivenness Pittsburgh showcased early in the year has been replaced by something more pragmatic. Tyson Ross Jersey. The Steelers have 17 scoring drives this season of 10 or more plays. Six of them have come over the last three weeks. Its also taken some of the pressure off a defense that has risen from 30th in yards allowed to a respectable 14th over the last month.Roethlisberger gave much of the credit to offensive coordinator Haley, who is among the leagues most creative play callers -- look no further than Bells option pass last week (which he threw away when nothing developed) -- but who also has become pretty effective at adapting quickly. He borrowed the six-lineman formation from Oakland once guard Ramon Foster and tackle Marcus Gilbert returned from injury, freeing up Hubbard to experiment at tight end. While there are at least two calls out of the six-lineman set that send Hubbard out for a pass, in reality when hes in the game theres not much disguising what is coming. The fact the Steelers are able to execute anyway is a testament to execution. Thats why the vibe was so electric during that clinching drive against one of the leagues best defensive lines. We just got to keep rolling, Hubbard said. We want that clock to roll out as much as possible so the other team wont get the ball back.Turns out keepaway can be just as effective as putting the scoreboard on tilt. Considering the wintry conditions that potentially await in Buffalo (6-6) on Sunday, the most direct path to the playoffs will likely continue to be through Bell. Thats fine by him.I was born for this, he said.Pittsburghs offense too.Game notes K Chris Boswell (abdomen), NT Javon Hargrave (concussion), WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot) and S Shamarko Thomas (concussion) did not practice Wednesday. ... With friends like Brisbane, North Queensland sure dont need enemies. Tyler Austin Jersey .The Broncos insist respect - not revenge - will be the motivating factor in Friday nights NRL grand final re-match in Townsville. But Brisbane fullback Darius Boyd on Monday wasted little time messing with the Cowboys minds, saying all the pressure was on North Queensland in their sudden death semi-final.This week we are the underdogs and the Cowboys have everything to lose playing in their hometown, Boyd said. They are playing at home in front of all their fans and we dont want our season to end.On paper Brisbane dont look like underdogs. They are on a six-game winning run.Defending champions North Queensland have lost four of their last seven.Still, Boyd insisted the Cowboys would be the ones feeling the heat on Friday night - a sensation he admitted Brisbane were all too familiar with.Boyd said Brisbane had been expected to brush everyone aside in the fortnight since their shock round 25 win in Melbourne.Instead they faltered. The Broncos still somehow hung on to clinch wins in those two weeks against the Sydney Roosters and the Gold Coast in last weeks qualifying final. Its hard when you are expected to win games, Boyd said.Against Melbourne we were up for it and did a good job.But against the Roosters and Titans we were expected to win and it was tough. The last three Queensland derbies have been decided by one point - including the Cowboys famous 17-16 premiership-deciding triumph last year. And another classic looms on Friday night, according to Boyd. The Brisbane custodian insisted friendships forged in State of Origin were the reason why no derby was dull.It will be a case of mate against mate when a Brisbane side boasting six Queensland State of Origin stars line up against four Maroons teammates in Cowboys colours in the sudden-death semi-final.It brings the best out of you. When you play your mates you want to get one up on them, Boyd said of the close derbies. Its the respect between the two teams.Asked if ending the Cowboys title defence would provide a measure of revenge after last years grand final heartache, Boyd said: I dont know about revenge but it would be nice.Any time you beat a quality side at their home ground its great to get one up on them.Weve had some classic clashes the last 12 months with the Cowboys and I expect this to be no different. Joe DiMaggio Jersey . Most important, perhaps, it went off without a hitch. Organizers poked a little fun at the now-infamous opening ceremony gaffe that saw only four out of five snowflakes open up into rings, leaving the Olympics logo one ring short. Bernie Williams Jersey . -- On the field, it was business as usual for Jameis Winston and No. .C. -- Calgarys Kevin Koe did it the hard way again. WASHINGTON -- Just before noon Tuesday, Dusty Baker strolled out of the Nationals Park home dugout and made his rounds during his clubs first workout ahead of its NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He started in the outfield, chatting with Ryan Zimmerman while the first baseman stretched. Baker ambled toward the infield and spoke to first-base coach Davey Lopes. Then the skipper set up shop behind the batting cage during BP, keeping an eye on his hitters while talking to GM Mike Rizzo. After sitting out two major league seasons, Baker is back in baseball. Hes also back in the postseason, leading the Nationals to the NL East title in his first year. When I was sitting home, I was like, `I should be there, because Im pretty used to going to the playoffs, Baker said, resting his cheek on his right hand during a news conference about 75 hours before Washington hosts Game 1 on Friday. This is his eighth trip to the postseason in 21 years as a manager. Each of his four clubs -- the Giants, Cubs, Reds and Nationals -- improved its win total in his debut season, including a 12-victory jump in 2016.Baker was asked Tuesday whether he worried he might not get another shot at managing after the Reds fired him, despite three playoff trips in his last four years.I was more bewildered than I was worried, and I wondered if I was on the `blacklist or not, Baker said. Sometimes theres an unwritten list that sometimes your name is at the top of, being one of the `unwanted, for whatever reason. Because I was sitting at home, watching guys that hadnt done what I had done.He continued, That doesnt happen very often: A guy goes to the playoffs, and all of a sudden he cant get a job. Or he cant even get a call back. But thats OK. I found out who my friends were.Baker didnt just sit around the house. His daughter got married in his back yard. He spent time with his son. He traveled. He worked on business ventures. But Baker acknowledged he was down for about three days.My dad used to tell me, `Its OK to be down. Just dont stay down. And I was like, `Man, is that what depression is? Ive never had depression. All I know is, I didnt like that feeling, Baker recounted.Always quick with a quip or a good story, Baker draws high praise for his ability to communicate with players. Masahiro Tanaka Jersey. is decades of experience as a player and a manager also drew immediate respect in the clubhouse. He could have very easily gone into politics, Lopes, Bakers teammate for six seasons with the Dodgers, said with a chuckle. He figures out what makes each player tick.Zimmerman figures a managers most important task is to handle personalities. You have so many coaches and all the scouting and analytics, so the baseball part is taken care of. The best managers are people that keep everyone together, when things are going bad or good, Zimmerman said. The biggest thing I like about Dusty is that hes honest with you, whether its good or bad. Im the kind of guy who -- I wasnt when I was younger, but now that Im a little bit older -- Id rather just someone tell me, because Im a big boy. And Dusty does that great. ... He doesnt ever really hold anything in.Bakers 1,766 wins rank 17th in history among MLB managers, ahead of Tommy Lasorda, Earl Weaver, Whitey Herzog and other Hall of Famers. He said that as he began climbing the all-time list, he started thinking about the possibility of making it to Cooperstown: Yeah, Id like to be the first African-American in the Hall of Fame (as a) manager.First things first, though.Right now, Johnnie B. Dusty Baker has more tales to tell and more games to win.Game notes Rizzo confirmed that RHP Stephen Strasburg would not be available for the NLDS but could return if Washington advances. ... Baker officially announced RHP Max Scherzer would start Game 1 against LHP Clayton Kershaw. ... Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy, who hasnt started since Sept. 17 because of a strained glute muscle, participated in the workout, taking BP and infield practice, and did extra running afterward. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we pose a question to a rotating panel of ESPN fantasy basketball experts to gauge their thoughts on a hot topic. Keith Hernandez Jersey . Todays contributors are ESPN NBA Insider Kevin Pelton and ESPN Fantasys Joe Kaiser and Kyle Soppe.Al Horford is just 11 games into his tenure with the Boston Celtics, but he currently ranks 11th on the Player Rater based on averages. While his scoring (15.5 PPG, 50.4 FG%, 12.6 FGA) is nearly identical to what he did his last two seasons with the Hawks, his 3-point shooting (1.5 3-PPG, 39.0 3-FG%), assists (5.0 APG) and blocks (2.6 BPG) have skyrocketed. Is this just a small-sample-size anomaly or a sign of things to come?Kevin Pelton: Ive been doing some research lately into how to best predict performance the rest of the season, which yields opposing conclusions about these stats. Early-season block rates tend to not be as predictive as past performance, while assist rates tend to stabilize pretty quickly. Naturally, 3-point percentage is also fluky, though Horfords track record is strong enough at this point that I dont expect him to drop off that much.Ultimately, the projections that combine performance to date and preseason expectations peg Horford for 4.1 assists but just 1.4 blocks per game the rest of the season, which suggests his value is probably already at a high point.Joe Kaiser: The fact that Horford started taking 3-pointers for the first time in his career last season, shooting 34.4 percent and making 1.1 of 3.1 attempts, is an encouraging sign that his 3-point success this season isnt a fluke. Playing under Brad Stevens in Boston, hes taking and making more threes (1.5 of 3.7 per game) while shooting an improved 39 percent. I dont think this is a fluke, and at this point we have to consider the 3-pointer a key part of Horfords fantasy value. Just dont expect any style points with the form on his 3-point stroke. As far as his assists go, clearly Boston signed him with the intent of utilizing him as a facilitator, and were seeing that with the hike in assists this season. He has dished out at least five assists in six of his first 11 games with the Celtics, including nine in his last game, against the Rockets. Its safe to say hes going to break his previous single-season high of 3.5 APG, and Id expect him to finish somewhere between 4.5-5.5 by seasons end.The blocks are the one stat that I think we can chalk up to small sample size. Horford is 30 years old and in his 10th NBA season -- this isnt typically a stage in a players career when he would suddenly become a bigger shot-blocker. His previous single-season best is 1.5 BPG, set twice in the last three seasons, and Id expect that to be his ceiling in 2016-17.Kyle Soppe: Im buying all the Horford shares I can get. From a basketball standpoint, the rise in Horfords unique skill set is because ... well, its now unique. In Atlanta, he shared the front court with Paul Millsap, a player whose skill was so similar to his that I often confused the two.Horfords skills havent gotten any better this season, he has simply gotten smarter. The percentage of his shots taken from 16 feet or further is actually down a tick from last season (46.8 percent, down from 47.9 percent last season), but he has joined #TeamAnalytics and determined that he might as well step behind that 3-point line if he is going to settle from a jumper.I also believe that the assist spike is real, for many of the same reasons. Due to his unique set of skills, he often puts the opposing center in a difficult position on the perimeter, thus allowing him to showcase his playmaking abilities. Id take the under on five assists per game and 39-percent 3-point shooting when all is said and done, but the Celtics are a top-10 team in offensive efficiency right now, and that is no mistake. Horford is a reliable player who can help fantasy owners across the board and should finish the season as a top-20 player. Kolten Wong Jersey . Barcelonas entertaining victory ensured the defending Spanish champions retained their share of the league lead with Atletico Madrid two rounds ahead of their meeting in the capital. Real Madrid needed a late goal by substitute Jese Rodriguez to earn a 3-2 victory at Valencia to stay in third place and three points behind its title rivals. Willie McGee Jersey . Irving scored 23 points, Tristan Thompson had 20 points and 10 rebounds and the Cavaliers beat the Denver Nuggets 117-109 on Friday night. . NBA officials ruled the court unplayable in the Bucks final exhibition game on Oct. 25 because players were slipping, and the game was cancelled midway through the first period. EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Leo Musso returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and No. 11 Wisconsin turned its early showdown with No. 8 Michigan State into a rout, beating the Spartans 30-6 on Saturday.Redshirt freshman Alex Hornibrook threw for 195 yards and a touchdown in his first start for Wisconsin, outplaying fifth-year senior Tyler OConnor, his Michigan State counterpart. The Badgers (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) were the better team in the first half and outscored the Spartans 17-0 in the third quarter.Michigan State (2-1, 0-1) was down 13-6 early in the third and had the ball in Wisconsin territory when LJ Scotts fumble bounced to Musso in the secondary. OConnor was the only player with a decent shot at him on the return, and Musso spun past the quarterback and went all the way to the end zone.OConnor finished 18 of 38 for 224 yards with three interceptions.Corey Clement ran for two touchdowns for Wisconsin.NO. 7 STANFORD 22, UCLA 13PASADENA, Calif. -- J.J. Arcega-Whiteside caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Burns with 24 seconds left, and No. 7 Stanford rallied on its final drive for its ninth consecutive victory over UCLA.Christian McCaffrey rushed for 138 yards for the Cardinal (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12), who havent lost to their downstate rivals since 2008.After struggling on offense for 3 1/2 quarters at the Rose Bowl, Stanford put together a 70-yard winning drive capped by Burns fade to Arcega-Whiteside, who got one foot inbounds on an acrobatic play. Solomon Thomas then returned Josh Rosens fumble 42 yards for a touchdown on the games final play.Rosen passed for 248 yards for the Bruins (2-2, 0-1). UCLAs defense faltered late after severely limiting the Cardinal and McCaffrey, who had his 14th consecutive 100-yard rushing game, for most of the night at the Rose Bowl.NO. 1 ALABAMA 48, KENT STATE 0TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Jalen Hurts ran and threw for touchdowns and tailback sub Joshua Jacobs scored his first two career touchdowns for Alabama. The Crimson Tide (4-0) dominated coach Nick Sabans alma mater from the start while scoring on a kickoff return and even a short touchdown throw to freshman linebacker Mack Wilson. Starting tailback Damien Harris went down on the opening drive with a sprained right ankle and didnt return.Harris was hardly needed in this game, when No. 2 quarterback Blake Barnett played much of the way and the emerging freshman Jacobs ran for 97 yards. It amounted to a respite for the Tide against Kent State (1-3) after a bruising 48-43 comeback victory over No. 23 Mississippi.Hurts was 16 of 24 for 164 yards and ran for 54 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown dash on the opening drive. He found Wilson, who lines up at fullback in goal line situations, for a 1-yard third-quarter score that was supposed to go to tight end O.J. Howard.NO. 3 LOUISVILLE 59, MARSHALL 28HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Lamar Jackson threw five touchdown passes and ran for two more scores for Louisville. The sophomore completed 24 of 44 passes for a career-high 417 yards against a Marshall secondary whose most experienced player had five starts. Jackson also ran for 62 yards.Louisville (4-0) didnt slow down against a nonconference opponent on the road a week after beating Florida State 63-20 at home. The Cardinals raced to a 35-7 halftime lead and cruised in the second half to break a four-game losing streak to the Thundering Herd. Jacksons scoring passes covered 71, 8, 30, 8 and 51 yards.Marshall (1-2) was limited to 207 yards of offense.NO. 4 MICHIGAN 49, PENN STATE 10ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- DeVeon Smith led an overwhelming ground game with 107 yards rushing and a touchdown and Karan Higdon ran for two scores for Michigan in the Big Ten opener for both teams. The Wolverines (4-0) had six touchdowns on the ground and finished with 326 yards rushing. Wilton Speight threw one touchdown pass. Penn State (2-2) has lost three straight to the Wolverines.Jabrill Peppers gave the fans an early thrill by returning Penn States first punt to the 9, although a bench-interference penalty moved the ball to the Nittany Lions 24. Seven plays later, Khalid Hill dove in on 4th-and-goal from the 1. The Wolverines also scored touchdowns on their next two drives. Penn State finally got a couple stops, but the Wolverines took a 28-0 halftime lead on Higdons 2-yard run.NO. 6 HOUSTON 64, TEXAS STATE 3SAN MARCOS, Texas -- DEriq King caught a touchdown pass, threw one and returned a kickoff for another score in Houstons blowout victory.King, a freshman recruited to play quarterback, is playing at wide receiver while Greg Ward Jr. directs the offense. Ward passed for two touchdowns and ran for one before leaving the game after playing one series in the third quarter. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 289 yards.King made a mistake by calling for a fair catch on the Houston 5 during a first-quarter Texas State punt. He soon compensated for that, however, catching a short pass from Ward on a bubble screen and taking it in for a touchdown from 48 yards out. Early in the second quarter, King took a handoff from Ward and threw a high pass to the end zone that Steven Dunbar pulled in for a 15-yard touchdown.King began the second half by returning the kickoff 99 yards for another touchdown.Houston (4-0) gained 563 yards and limited Texas State (1-2) to 142.NO. 10 TEXAS A&M 45, NO. 17 ARKANSAS 24ARLINGTON, Texas -- Trevor Knight had two long touchdowns runs for Texas A&M before halftime and threw a 92-yard pass to Josh Reynolds right after Arkansas was stopped three times from the 1.Reynolds caught the ball in stride just short of midfield, and quickly shed defensive back DJ Dean on his way to the end zone to break a 17-all tie and put the Aggies (4-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) ahead to stay. Texas A&M has won five straight against the Razorbacks (3-1, 0-1), all since joining the SEC.The long catch-and-run by Reynolds came two plays after Keon Hatcher was tackled for a 5-yard loss on fourth down, ending a 19-play drive for the Razorbacks that took 10 minutes after Texas A&M had fumbled from the Arkannsas 2. Mike Shannon Jersey. NO. 23 MISSISSIPPI 45, NO. 12 GEORGIA 14OXFORD, Miss. -- Chad Kelly threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to help Mississippi break a 10-game losing streak in the series dating to 1996.The Rebels (2-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) dominated every phase, building a lead of 31-0 by halftime and 45-0 by midway through the third quarter.Georgia (3-1, 1-1) lost for the first time under new coach Kirby Smart and looked overmatched. To make matters worse, star running back Nick Chubb injured an ankle in the second quarter and didnt return. It was an impressive win for the Rebels, who finally built a big lead they didnt give away. Ole Miss led Florida State by 22 points and Alabama by 21 this season before losing both games.Kelly was 18 of 24 and had a 41-yard touchdown run through the middle of the defense.NO. 9 WASHINGTON 35, ARIZONA 28TUCSON, Ariz. -- Jake Browning hit Dante Pettis on a 4-yard touchdown in overtime, Lavon Coleman ran for 181 yards and Washington held off Arizona in both teams Pac-12 opener.Pettis made a tough grab in traffic on the first possession of overtime and Washingtons defense forced a turnover on downs to eke out the victory. The Huskies (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) had a hard time shaking Arizona (2-2, 0-1 Pac-12), which was down to its fourth-string running back after J.J. Taylor left in the third quarter with a left ankle injury.Brandon Dawkins kept the Wildcats in it, dazzling with 176 yards and two touchdowns rushing, 167 yards and another score passing. He escaped what appeared to be a sack to hit Shun Brown on a 54-yard pass , then hit Josh Kern on a 3-yard TD pass with 17 seconds left to tie the game at 28.Coleman kept the Huskies moving with Browning limited to passes underneath and scored on a 55-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Browning finished 14 of 21 for 160 yards and two touchdowns.NO. 13 FLORIDA STATE 55, SOUTH FLORIDA 35TAMPA, Fla. -- Dalvin Cook rushed for a career-high 267 yards and two touchdowns and Florida State rebounded from the most lopsided loss in school history to beat South Florida.Cook scored on a 75-yard run on the Seminoles first play from scrimmage, an immediate response to USF starting the game with Quinton Flowers and Rodney Adams teaming on an 84-yard catch-and-run for a 7-0 lead. Sophie Ecclestone, the uncapped Lancashire left-arm spinner, has been named in England Womens 15-member squad for the three-match T20 series at home against Pakistan. Tony Bradley Jersey . Her Lancashire team-mate, Kate Cross, however, was left out. Kent left-arm seamer Natasha Farrant, who was not picked for World T20 as well as the ODI series against Pakistan, replaced the injured Anya Shrubsole.Ecclestone and Farrant are the two changes to the squad that swept Pakistan 3-0 in the ODI series. Ecclestone, only 17, is the second left-arm spinner in the squad behind Alexandra Hartley, who made her international debut against Pakistan in the third ODI in Taunton. She is yet to play a T20 international. The T20 series brings a new set of challenges and further opportunities for the players, and Im really pleased to call-up Sophie Ecclestone for the first time, and to welcome Tash Farrant back into the dressing room, Mark Robinson, the head coach, said.Sophie brings youth, vitality and another left-arm spin option alongside Alex Hartley into the squad. We have two world-class offspinners in Danielle Hazell and Laura Marsh, but we also need to be aware of the talent that we have underneath, and making sure that we are developing the likes of Alex and Sophie, by having them in the group and giving them international match-day experience.Robinson said that it was a real shame that seamer Beth Langston missed on of selection again, because of injury. She worked tremendously hard during the winter and had a great tour to Sri Lanka with the England Womens Academy, but unfortunately hasnt been able to get involved so far this summer because of her ankle, he said.Robinson also said that Cross was still in the sides plans, despite being overlooked for the Pakistan T20 series. Kate Cross has been left out of this squad to face Pakistan, but we do see her as a Twenty20 bowler moving forwards, he said. There is no reason why she cant be an outstanding bowler across all formats of the game, and we feel that theres a window now where we can do some focused technical work with her away from match situations to help get her ready to perform at her best in the Kia Super League next month. The T20 series begins with the first match at the Brightside Ground in Bristol on Sunday. In-form Wallabies halfback Will Genia looks certain to miss the clash with England at Twickenham after Stade Francais denied permission to allow him to play. Randy Johnson Jersey .The Wallabies will be trying to finish their spring tour on a high by ending Englands unbeaten run under former Australia coach Eddie Jones. But their hopes of a first grand slam in 32 years were ended by Ireland on Saturday in Dublin. They will have to do it without the former Queensland Reds star Genia as the match is classed as an out-of-window Test so the French club isnt obliged to release him.Right now, from the conversations weve had with Paris, theyre not releasing him, said Wallabies coach Michael Cheika.Well have another crack and see what we can do, but it seems unlikely with the French, they obviously place more importance on their game for Will than our international.Thats the way the rules are, so well just have to deal with it.We asked last night after the game and that was the response they came back with.Australia could also be without Dean Mumm after the forward was cited following a dangerous tackle on Irelands Tadhg Furlong which saw the flanker sin-binned.Cheika has asked to speak to referees chief Alain Rolland following his the 13-3 penalty count against his side in Dublin but has yet to hear a response to his request.I dont want to talk about it (citing) beforehand, Ill talk about it afterwards because whatever you say here you dont want to be held against you when they come up into the hearing, he said. You just want to let the procedure pan out and then afterwards we can talk about it.Its obviously the citing officer, the off-field referee, who has decided that Dean has committed some offence that the on-field referees didnt see.Thats what they do. Well get our defence right and all going well, hell get cleared. Sooner or later with this lineup you feel very strong that someone is going to come through.Tulowitzki finished 2 for 4 with a walk and three RBI. He is batting .338 (22 for 65) with 20 RBI in 17 games since returning June 18 after missing 20 games with a sore right quadriceps.Since hes come off the DL, hes been swinging a very hot bat, Tigers catcher James McCann said. Thats why we were kind of stretching Shane and Justin both, trying to get through. I think at the end, really, Justin was kind of out of gas, so we went to Alex.Nick Castellanos and Justin Upton hit solo home runs for the Tigers.Toronto jumped on Detroit starter Justin Verlander in the first, scoring twice with two outs. Former South Carolina tennis student-athlete Ricardo Acioly has played and coached in the Olympics. Anton Forsberg Jersey . Recently, he helped carry on the great tradition of running with the Olympic torch in his home country, and now the Brazilian native is excited to share the Olympic experience in a new capacity, as a spectator and a father. In every Olympics, the torch tours around the host country before it gets lit up in the stadium at the opening ceremonies, Acioly said. A few people get a chance to carry the torch, and since I have a history in the Olympics as a player and a coach, and because of what Ive done in my tennis career and what Im doing now with my coaching career and my involvement in sports, I was honored to get a go at this. So I was pretty happy, and pretty honored. Its not something that happens every day. When you are carrying the Olympic torch, you are the only person in the world doing that. I thought that was quite cool to be able to do that and knowing what it means.Acioly played doubles for Brazil in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea, and was later a coach for Brazil at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. One of my best memories (as an athlete) is of the opening ceremony, Acioly recalled. It was really, really neat to be there with everyone. At that time, we didnt have all the communications like we have now with email and mobile phones. Being in front of the whole world at that time was unreal. The atmosphere was something I had never felt before. Walking in with the other athletes and representing my country was very special. That experience is something I will cherish my whole life. The experience in Sydney was also amazing. It was a little different because I was outside of the court. In Sydney, the team stayed in houses as part of the Olympic Village. Our house was quite successful because we got three medals from the athletes that stayed in the house. We had two judo guys winning a couple of silver medals. The womens basketball team won the bronze medal, and their coaching staff was together in the same house. We were bragging a lot about our house.Acioly enjoyed participating from both perspectives. He also enjoyed watching a lot of other events during his Olympic experiences.I watched track and field, Acioly said. When the whole Ben Johnson story happened, I was there. I saw volleyball and basketball. You try to see the sports that you like a lot, or you end up meeting the other athletes and you get a feel for what they do, so you want to watch. After a standout playing career for the Gamecocks from 1983-1985, Acioly is a well-recognized figure in the tennis community in his home country. He founded the R3A Sports Management company, continues to coach young players at a couple of tennis schools near his home in Rio de Janeiro, and he is the director of the ATP 500 event, which is the largest tennis tournament of its kind in South America. Among the many young players he has coached includes current Gamecock womens tennis sophomore student-athlete Ingrid Gamarra Martins, who earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors last year. Its great to be so involved in tennis, Acioly said. There were quite a few schools interested in Ingrid since she was 12 to 15 years old. I saw her grow up. She is doing quite well. I came back to visit South Carolina a few years ago. I had a chance to meet (womens tennis head coach) Kevin Epley at that time, and I already knew (mens tennis coach) Josh Goffi. The way they are running their programs is a lot like what we do and where our players want to go. Theyre very professional. Thats why I thought it was a good fit for Ingrid.Acioly and teammate Richard Ashby led the Gamecocks with 22 doubles wins in 1984, and although an injury curtailed some of his playing career, he has many good memories of his time as a Gamecock.I had some misfortune while I was there because I tore a ligament in my knee, Acioly said. But I enjoyed being able to represent Carolina all over the U.S. I embraced the college scene. The whole atmosphere of being a student-athlete and being involved with other athletes from other sports was also pretty cool.Acioly noted that his time at South Carolina helped him prepare for his life after college. It helped me grow as a sportsman and as a person, Acioly said. That was key for my development on the court and off the court. Now that the Olympics have come to his home country, Acioly is proud to be able to witness the games with his nine-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.I have tickets to go somewhere every day, Acioly laughed. Obviously I will go see the tennis. Im going to see basketball. Im going to see volleyball and beach volleyball. Brazil has a good chance to get some medals there. I want to see some of the radical BMX biking. I want my kids to see some neat stuff like that. Gymnastics, too. Obviously well see track and field as well. I want them to catch some spirit. The Olympic spirit is so great. It is something I will never forget for my whole life. Its the first time that the Olympics have come to South America. Normally, all of the athletes from Brazil have to travel abroad to compete in the big arenas. Now the big arenas are here. That is something that probably wont happen again for a long time. Tanner Kero Jersey . Kiriasis and brakeman Franziska Fritz finished two runs in one minute 55.41 seconds -- a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of Meyers and Lolo Jones, who likely bolstered her Olympic hopes by helping give USA-1 a huge push in the second heat. Bobby Hull Jersey . -- Devin Hester is done returning kicks in Chicago. . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday. India caused a major upset at the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Asia Challenge in Tehran on Tuesday, beating China, Asias top-ranked team, 70-64 in a second round Group E fixture. The win boosted Indias chances of making the quarterfinals of the event. Amritpal Singh was the standout player from India, scoring 23 points along with 14 rebounds, while Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led the assists chart for either side with six.India had lost 2 straight games coming into this game whereas China had a 3-0 record and looked to keep it that way as it led 27-18 halfway through the second quarter. But India came back strongly to score 17 points in 10 minutes to lead 31-29 at half-time.Within the opening 3 minutes of the third quarter captain Amritpal Singh scored 8 points to put serious pressure on China. India kept their nerve and opened a six-point gap at the end of the third quarter, to lead 51-45 as the match headed into the final quarter.?By this time two of its big three of Amjyot Singh and Amritpal were on four fouls each, but the coach decided to keep them playing. With both playing a seemingly passive game to avoid getting fouled out, Indias bench stepped up to hold on to the lead throughout the quarter.?The last quarter was the most tightly contested, with both teams registering 19 points each. The highlight of the quarter was when?Amritpal stripped his Chinese centre off the ball, and threw down a dunk to get India back up by 6 pts with 7:50 left in the game. With five minutes left and the score reading 60-51 Indias bench made sure they closed out the game to rack up a famous victory. Corey Crawford Jersey. ?Overall it was a team effort and they played as well as they did at the practice sessions at NITTE Campus. We worked on defence and this gave my boys more confidence on offense. Our strategy was to pressure the ball man and not let the first receiver receive the pass easily, Head Coach Sat Prakash Yadav said after the game.?This is 53rd-ranked Indias second win over China in two years. In July 2014 they had beaten China 65-58 in the FIBA Asia Cup group stages in Wuhan. India and China had last played each other in October 2015 at the Asian Championships quarter-final playoffs; China had won 104-58.India are now fourth in the six-team Group E, with six points from four matches. Earlier in the tournament, India had beaten the Philippines 91-83, before losing 90-66 to Chinese Taipei. They began their second round with a 121-65 defeat at the hands of Jordan on Monday. But with their points from the first round carried forward, India should now be able to qualify for the quarterfinals if they beat Kazakhstan in their final league match on Wednesday. The top five nations at the FIBA Asia Challenge will earn an extra berth for their respective sub-confederations for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup -- a tournament that will host teams from both Asia and Oceania for the first time, and also serve as a qualifier for the FIBA World Cup to be hosted by China in 2019. TORONTO — The New York Yankees will open an 11-game road trip in Toronto on Friday James Hurst Jersey , a journey that will take them to the All-Star break.

But the Yankees received some bad news on what was an otherwise a happy Fourth of July.

After the Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-2 in the rubber match of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, it was revealed that their superb rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres had a hip strain that will sideline him until at least mid-July.

Torres will be on the disabled list when the Yankees (56-28) open a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays (40-46) at the Rogers Centre.

The Yankees will start right-hander Sonny Gray (5-6, 5.44 ERA) against Blue Jays right-hander Sam Gaviglio (2-2, 3.97).

Torres was removed from the game Wednesday during the fourth inning and an MRI showed a strain.

“Any time you’re talking about a groin, a hamstring, quads or a hip — once you have a strain in there, you can punch through it or make it a worse strain,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “So, I think the wise thing is to do this now. Gleyber wants to take a couple of days and work through it, but I think he also understands this is the best thing for him and for us.”

Infielder Tyler Wade will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the game on Friday. After going 3-for-35 (.086) in 13 games with New York early in the season, Wade was demoted to the RailRiders and batted .271/.332/.376 with two homers and 18 RBIs.

Torres is batting .294/.350/.555 in 63 games with 15 homers and 42 RBIs for the Yankees since being called up from Triple-A April 22.

The Blue Jays lost their game Wednesday to the New York Mets 6-3 to split the two-game interleague set. They are 3-3 on the homestand and 23-23 overall at home.

Gray has pitched well at the Rogers Centre, going 2-3 with a 1.88 ERA in seven career starts while pitching for the Yankees and the Oakland Athletics, who traded him to New York during last season.

The 28-year-old is 4-3 with a 2.71 ERA in 11 career starts against Toronto. As a Yankee, he is 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA in five starts against the Blue Jays, and he is 0-0 with a 3.52 ERA in three starts this season.

Gray has lost his past two starts, including Saturday against the Boston Red Sox when he went 2 1/3 innings, his shortest of the season, and allowed six earned runs.

“That was embarrassing for me and I think for everybody in here,” Gray said. “I haven’t beat a lot of teams since I’ve been here. I’ve been bad against the Red Sox, I’ve been bad against a lot of teams. I don’t think one particular team you can say has my number or whatever. I’ve been bad against multiple teams.”

“The good thing about Sonny is, he’s got the equipment to get this right,” Boone said. “He’s got the stuff to be the same pitcher he’s been at times in his career. This guy’s still a dude. He’s got to dig his heels in and it’s on all of us to try and help unlock that.”

Gaviglio has faced the Yankees once in his career, pitching seven scoreless innings against them June 6 in a no decision as New York won 3-0 in 13 innings.

In his most recent start, the 28-year-old allowed three runs, four hits and three walks in seven innings Saturday against the Detroit Tigers but did not factor in the decision. Toronto won the game 4-3 on Justin Smoak’s leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.

This will be Gaviglio’s 11th appearance and ninth start with Toronto after going 0-0 with a 1.86 ERA in five starts with Triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays made two moves before the game Wednesday, designating right-handed reliever Preston Guilmet for assignment and returning left-hander Tim Mayza on option to Buffalo. Right-handers Luis Santos and Rhiner Cruz were called up from Buffalo. Each had a scoreless relief outing against the Mets.

The Yankees lead the season series 7-3.

Trevor Bauer turned from pitcher to politician to prize fighter.

If the weather was going to finish him Stephen Hauschka Jersey , Bauer was going down swinging.

Bauer pitched seven scoreless innings before a rain delay ended his night, and Jason Kipnis homered to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 6-2 win over the sliding and sloppy Chicago White Sox on Monday.

Bauer (6-5) allowed just three hits, struck out eight and was in line to potentially pitch his first career shutout. However, after the game was halted in the seventh for 35 minutes, manager Terry Francona pulled the right-hander following the delay.

Not before Bauer pleaded his case.

”Carl Willis was lucky he didn’t come tell me,” Bauer said, referring to Cleveland’s pitching coach. ”I told him any one but Tito and I was throwing fists.”

Bauer was joking, of course, but Francona liked how his right-hander fought to remain in the game.

”Boy, I give him credit, man,” Francona said. ”Even during the rain delay he was politicking. It just doesn’t make sense. But I gotta tell you Nate Schmidt Jersey , if you’re going to get into a little bit of a push and shove, I like it that he wants to stay in. I respect the hell out of that. I just didn’t think it made sense. I don’t have any doubt he could have done it, too. ”

Roberto Perez drove in two runs off Dylan Covey (3-2) as Cleveland improved to 15-4 in its last 19 home games against Chicago.

The White Sox committed three errors – one by Covey – in the first three innings, lost their fifth straight and dropped a season-high 23 games under .500.

Matt Davidson homered in the ninth for Chicago.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria felt Covey deserved better.

”Believe it or not even though Dylan did have a few walks, he didn’t throw the ball as badly as the numbers might show,” he said. ”We didn’t defend for him. A lot of sloppy play out there to be honest. We just didn’t catch the ball and pick him up when we could have and he still ground out five innings.”

Chicago’s hitters couldn’t get anything going against Bauer, who struck out 12 in a tough loss against the White Sox and Covey last week. Bauer was bidding to tie a club record held by two-time Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber with his fifth consecutive game of at least 10 strikeouts.

Bauer got to eight, but was denied any more because of a line of storms off Lake Erie and Francona’s decision not to push him further. Bauer has thrown at least 100 pitches in all 16 starts this season.

The enigmatic starter is crediting his success to some new pitches and a ”tunneling approach” in which he divides the plate into quadrants.

”The more I’m able to execute those spots, with given pitches, the more confusion there is in the hitters because they see the same look over and over, and the ball goes different ways at different speeds and what not,” he said.

Perez’s two-run Youth Jason Sanders Jersey , ground-rule double highlighted Cleveland’s three-run second inning, which was set up by Chicago second baseman Yoan Moncada’s fielding error.

Indians reliever Evan Marshall left in the eighth after complaining of elbow soreness. Francona said the team will likely have an update on him Wednesday.

Looking for bullpen help, the Indians signed veteran reliever Marc Rzepczynski to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Columbus. The left-hander previously pitched for Cleveland from 2013-15, appearing in 145 games.

The club currently needs a lefty reliever with both Andrew Miller and Tyler Olson on the disabled list. Rzepczynski could be an option.

”It’s a guy we know,” Francona said. ”We’re down to one lefty right now, so it’s a guy that certainly could come here and help. He didn’t sign to stay in Triple-A.”

Francona joked that he still has trouble spelling the lefty’s last name.

”I’ve got it in my phone: Z-E-P,” he said.

White Sox: Renteria said OF Avisail Garcia (strained right hamstring) is progressing well on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte. Garcia’s status will be reassessed after he plays Tuesday and Wednesday. He’s been on the disabled list since May 24.

Indians: OF Bradley Zimmer will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder. Zimmer felt discomfort while throwing after he initially strained the shoulder while doing drills after being sent to Columbus to work on his game. ”I don’t think he thought it was anything, and it just didn’t feel good. So, we’re going to go ahead and get him looked at,” Francona said.

Indians RHP Mike Clevinger will face the White Sox for the second straight start. He set a career high with 11 strikeouts and held Chicago to one run over seven innings last Thursday. Carlos Rodon will start for the White Sox.

A pair of two-homer performances. A bases-loaded triple , followed by another triple. So many unusual things went into Chicago’s biggest comeback of the season that even the White Sox had trouble keeping track.

No matter. They’ll take it.

Daniel Palka and Avisail Garcia each homered twice, and Yoan Moncada tripled with the bases loaded in the 12th inning as the White Sox pulled off their biggest comeback and beat the Cincinnati Reds 12-8 on Tuesday night.

”Well, a lot going on today,” manager Rick Renteria said.

It was a night of non-stop offense, right from the outset.

Trailing 7-2 after five innings, the White Sox pulled even in the ninth on Garcia’s solo homer off Raisel Iglesias, then pulled it out with the help of a couple of Reds errors.

”That last inning was tough,” said Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett, whose error opened the way.

The White Sox loaded the bases with a walk and two errors. Moncada’s opposite-field triple off Jackson Stephens (2-1) broke the tie, and Yolmer Sanchez followed with another triple.

Hector Santiago (3-3) fanned six in two innings as the White Sox extended their domination in the interleague series. They’re 17-5 all-time against the Reds, including 11-3 in Cincinnati.

”Surreal,” said Chicago starter Lucas Giolito, who gave up three homers but wound up on the winning side. ”From my perspective, I didn’t get the job done. It’s an awesome feeling that these guys play hard behind you.”

Jim Riggleman was ejected by plate umpire Eric Cooper during Chicago’s winning rally Adidas Andrew Ladd Jersey , his first ejection as the Reds’ interim manager. They had words as Riggleman was signaling from the dugout for an intentional walk.

”Then he made some comment that I didn’t like,” Riggleman said. ”That’s kind of how the whole game went.”

The Reds got the better of a free-swinging game early on, surging ahead 4-0 before Giolito could record an out. Jose Peraza opened with a triple, Gennett hit his 14th homer , Joey Votto walked, and Eugenio Suarez followed with his 17th homer . Suarez performed a salsa dance with Votto after he crossed the plate.

Adam Duvall added a three-run shot into the upper deck in left field in the fifth inning off Giolito for a 7-2 lead, the second time in his career that the right-hander has allowed three homers in a game.

Anthony DeSclafani also gave up a career-high three homers – two by Palka and one by Garcia, who went 3 for 6 and extended his hitting streak to a career-high 13 games.

The White Sox are 4-10 in interleague play this season. The Reds are 7-2. The loss snapped their streak of six straight wins against the AL.

The last time the White Sox and Reds played an extra-inning game was Game 6 of the ”Black Sox” World Series in 1919. Chicago won that game 5-4 in 10 innings at Crosley Field.

Giolito started the Futures Game as part of the All-Star festivities at Great American Ball Park in 2015 and pitched two scoreless innings .

The Reds committed a season-high four errors – two by Suarez at third, one by Peraza at shortstop and one by Gennett at second base.

Sanchez’s triple in the 12th came on a weird play. Right fielder Brandon Dixon stretched above the wall and grabbed the fly ball – robbing Sanchez of a homer – but the glove flipped off his hand as he hit the wall and the ball deflected back onto the field.

White Sox: Jose Abreu was out of the lineup a day after he fouled a pitch off his left ankle. X-rays were negative. Abreu pinch hit in the 11th inning and grounded out.

Reds: Homer Bailey threw 103 pitches in 6 2/3 innings of a rehab appearance for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday night, giving up one run and seven hits while fanning eight. Bailey has been sidelined since June 2 by a sore right knee.

White Sox: Dylan Covey (3-3) is 0-1 with a 12.71 ERA in his last three starts, walking 12 in 11 1/3 innings and giving up 16 runs.

Reds: Sal Romano (4-8) went 1-2 with a 3.90 ERA in five June starts. He’s been limited to five innings in four of his last six starts.

Clayton Kershaw is set to make a surprise return from the disabled list Saturday night Youth Nyheim Hines Jersey , starting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a marquee matchup against New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom.

Kershaw has been sidelined since June 1 with a lower back strain. The three-time Cy Young Award winner and 2014 NL MVP originally was scheduled to make a rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City at Omaha, but heavy rain in the forecast caused the Dodgers to change plans.

”It’s probably the best thing for him and for us,” manager Dave Roberts said Friday. ”We don’t know how much he’s going to pitch. I don’t want to put a limit on him. Obviously, there is a limitation with Clayton, and I’ll make that decision.”

Roberts said rookie Caleb Ferguson (0-1, 7.59 ERA) will be ready in reserve. The 21-year-old left-hander had been slated to make his fourth major league start Saturday.

There’s rain in the New York forecast as well, but Roberts said the Dodgers took all that into account.

”From what I understand it’s going to be early and if there’s a delay, we have ample time to get him ready. But obviously, we’re not going to do anything to put him in harm’s way,” Roberts said. ”If there is something where we are shut down, having Caleb behind him, we have that coverage. So we can kind of combat that.”

Before the switch, Roberts had said Kershaw would throw no more than four innings and 60 pitches for Oklahoma City.

The 30-year-old Kershaw is 1-4 with a 2.76 ERA in eight starts this year for the defending NL champions, who have been riddled by injuries.

He was out for nearly a month with left biceps tendinitis before returning May 31 against Philadelphia. He pitched five effective innings in a no-decision against the Phillies, and then went back on the disabled list the next day with the back injury.

The ace left-hander threw a three-inning simulated Monday at Wrigley Field in Chicago and said he felt really good. The next day, Roberts said Kershaw returning against the Mets this weekend was considered, but the team opted for a minor league start to give him ”the best chance for success and health.”

Kershaw, a seven-time All-Star, missed about five weeks last season with a similar back problem.

Roberts acknowledged that Kershaw lobbied to pitch at Citi Field this weekend, rather than in the minors.

”He did play a little weather man, so with and Clayton, we were pretty abreast with the weather in Omaha,” Roberts said with a chuckle.

”Just the way he’s responded to all the tests and to get him with us, the weather over there in Omaha, we feel comfortable and confident,” the manager added.

Rich Hill will start Sunday for the Dodgers, followed by Kenta Maeda at home Monday against the Cubs.

In other injury-related news, shortstop Chris Taylor was out of the lineup because of a tight left hamstring. Enrique Hernandez started in place of Taylor, who exited Wednesday’s game in Chicago against the Cubs. He was available off the bench – probably just to hit, Roberts said.

”We’ll give him today and we’ll see about tomorrow,” he added.

Backup infielder Chase Utley was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list after missing 19 games with a sprained left thumb. A longtime New York nemesis and villain to Mets fans, Utley was on the bench for the series opener. He was batting .216 with a home run and 14 RBIs this season.

Utley has excelled as a pinch hitter, going 7 for 17 (.412) with five RBIs and two extra-base hits.

Los Angeles opened a roster spot for him by optioning catcher-infielder Kyle Farmer to Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Rookie right-hander Walker Buehler is scheduled to throw 20 to 30 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday, the next step in his comeback from a right rib microfracture. He could return to the rotation without a minor league rehab assignment, Roberts said.

Rated one of baseball’s top pitching prospects, Buehler is 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA in nine big league starts.

The union’s inaugural ”health playbook” was distributed electronically to NFLPA members this week.

Sills said the data was a ”call to action” to the NFL for greater prevention.

ST. PETERSBURG Authentic Pekka Rinne Jersey Kids , Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays continue to win games they perhaps shouldn’t, and they’ll have an opportunity for more of that Saturday against Houston’s Justin Verlander.

The Rays (40-41) hit the midway point of their 2018 season with a 3-2 win over Houston, giving them six wins in their last seven games. Their pitching has led the way — three times in the last four games, they have held their opponent to three hits or less, this after doing so only three times in the first 77 games of this season.

“If we are going to win a lot of game and we are going to string a bunch together, we have to have good pitching,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said. “The timely hitting is great, but we have to stay in the ballgame. For us to have allowed three runs in 18 innings against arguably the best team in baseball, we should find a way to win one.”

Houston will send Verlander, who has been dominant (9-3, 1.82 ERA) but has gotten surprisingly little run support from a potent Astros lineup.

Houston is just 11-7 in games he starts, and the Astros have scored a total of two runs in five of those losses.

So Saturday could look like Thursday’s 1-0 Astros win, or could look like Friday’s 3-2 loss, which saw two errors factor in Tampa Bay’s scoring.

Verlander faced the Rays just 11 days ago in Houston, again pitching well, allowing one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings, but ultimately taking a no-decision in a 2-1 loss. He has 136 strikeouts in 113 innings this season and a ridiculous 0.81 WHIP.

Against the Rays for his career, Verlander is 8-3 with a 3.18 ERA, but since 2010, he’s just 4-3, despite a 1.72 ERA in his last five starts against the Rays. At Tropicana Field, he’s 5-2 all-time with a 2.53 ERA, including a 1.20 ERA in his last two outings.

The Rays counter with reliever-turned-starter Ryne Stanek, who has thrived in the “opener” role that Tampa Bay has essentially created in the past six weeks. He’s starting for the second time in three days against the Astros having thrown 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, hitless baseball Thursday night. For the month of June, he’s pitched in 11 games and 14 2/3 innings without allowing a run.

He’s held opponents to just four hits, lowering his season ERA to 1.85, just barely above Verlander’s.

The Astros know they have to be careful with the white ceiling of Tropicana Field — the Rays’ three-run fourth inning got a spark Friday when center fielder Jake Marisnick couldn’t hold onto a pop at the warning track, allowing a run to score.

“When you play here, you try to not take your eye off the ball,” Marisnick said. “With the ceiling, I kind of glanced quickly at the ball, then looked back up and lost track. I wasn’t able to come up with it. That’s a play I need to make 10 out of 10 times.”
