This story appears in ESPN The Magazines October 31 NBA Preview Issue. wholesale authentic jerseys . Subscribe today!SAM BRADFORD APPEARS to be the least subversive player in the NFL. He runs between practice drills in his red jersey like a JV player trying to impress his coaches. He drives a lifted Ford F-150, the same model hes driven since entering the league in 2010 -- also the vehicle known for being the most popular in America. Yep, thats all I drive, he says with a shrug. Even his attempts at exuberance can go wrong. After throwing for his second touchdown in the Vikings Week 5 win over the Texans, Bradford celebrated by jumping into the chest of Alex Boone and promptly bounced off the 310-pound guard like a finch flying into a window. But perhaps the most Bradford thing about Bradford? The long, floppy sleeves that make it look as if hes wearing a jersey that has to be returned to the equipment shed at the end of the season. When his name is announced before games at U.S. Bank Stadium, he jogs out of the Viking-ship facade without so much as a fist pump. Slow and steady, he is nothing more than a guy whos been told where to go and is intent on getting there unnoticed, as efficiently as possible. When asked whether anything interesting happened to him over the past five months, Bradford says, Been pretty boring, to be honest with you. Nothing really comes to mind. He plays it straight just long enough before issuing a wide smile that reaches his eyes a beat or two later. Its phenomenal how hes mastered the art of saying nothing, but in a friendly way, Boone says. I love it.This man, whose unobtrusive personality has meshed perfectly with the impact he has made since being the No. 1 pick in 2010, is leading the offense for the last unbeaten team in the NFL. This man, whose career is distinguished by punctuation -- question marks for the time hes been on the field, commas for the vast amount hes missed to injury -- is authoring the type of personal renaissance that is already triggering a reconsideration of himself and the most glorified and overanalyzed position in sports. It began when Bradford was traded from the Eagles to the Vikings after Teddy Bridgewater suffered a horrific knee injury less than two weeks before the regular season. The trade followed an offseason that did nothing to enhance his reputation. Bradford signed a contract extension in Philadelphia, saw the Eagles trade up to draft Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall and then held himself out of voluntary offseason workouts in what was described by Americas sports media as either the dumbest or the most pointless leverage-free holdout in history.Despite the turmoil, and despite making it known after the draft that he wanted to be traded, Bradford didnt anticipate being a possible replacement for Bridgewater. Honestly, I should have, he says, but they didnt want to trade me in the spring, so I figured they werent going to trade me a week before the season. In Minnesota, Bradford got a crash course in coordinator Norv Turners offense, started against the Packers eight days after he arrived and has only gotten better since. Through four starts, he was seventh in the NFL in Total QBR and second to Atlantas Matt Ryan in passer rating among quarterbacks who had thrown at least 100 passes. Air-dropped into a new offense just before the season opener, he has not thrown an interception. In fact, Bradfords resurgence makes him the perfect subject to explore the cult of the quarterback, the cottage industry thats grown up around the idea that an NFL playbook is the sports equivalent of the Human Genome Project. How could he possibly grasp the convolutions and minutiae of an NFL offense, one devised by a legendary offensive coach, in just two weeks?Presented with this, Bradford suddenly turns subversive. He answers silently, with a cartoon eye roll, then says, I learn a new system every year anyway.ON SEPT. 3, a Saturday, Bradford and his wife, Emma, were taking advantage of a rare weekend without football to do some fishing in Oklahoma. At 8 a.m., Sam received a call. Eagles coach Doug Pederson was on the line, informing Bradford hed been traded to the Vikings. By 1:30 that afternoon, Bradford and his wife were on a private jet heading for Minneapolis, and two hours after that Sam was sitting in a meeting with Turner and his son, Scott, the Vikings quarterbacks coach.Theres no magic formula, Scott Turner told Bradford. Weve got to attack this thing. Were not going to ease into it. Were going to throw a bunch of stuff against the wall and make it stick.Starting the next day, Bradford arrived at the teams practice facility each morning at 6 to learn the terminology of the offense. At 7 a.m., Scott Turner would spend an hour showing him PowerPoint presentations of formations and pass routes before the regular quarterbacks meeting. From there, Bradford sequestered himself with film study before practice. After practice, Scott would summon a few low-level coaches -- or just random people, as Bradford puts it -- to run routes on the practice field. After that, Bradford and Scott would go back into the building and review video cutups of the plays theyd just walked through. Other times they would set up Bradford with a virtual reality headset, called STRIVR, to give him real-time simulations.Sams obviously a very smart guy, but its also him basically living in here, safety Harrison Smith says. Every time I was in here, he was always in here. If we were off, he was here. I honestly dont know how much he left the facility when he first got here.Bradford, typically understated, says he spent an average of 14 hours at the facility before going home to eat dinner and study more film. I dont know if I ever came up for a breath over those two weeks, he says. Definitely crazy.Running back Matt Asiata says, When he first got here, I looked at Sam and thought, This guy looks like a smart guy. He has to be. Norvs offense is pretty ... lets say its Spanish sometimes.Still, Bradford cautions anyone from making too much of his achievement. To me, you can pretty much learn anything, he says. Ive run pretty much all these concepts somewhere in my career. The concepts arent all that different, but the small details within the concept might be different. The way Bradford explains it, the hard part is compartmentalizing words that have different meanings in different schemes. Lets say green means one thing in Philadelphia and something entirely different in Minnesota. When faced with green in Minnesota, he has to translate it from the previous language. OK, what hits my brain? he asks himself. But over time, that fades out and this becomes your language. This is what you understand, so when you hear these playcalls, you get it.Scott Turner told him, Its like someone parachuted you into Mexico. You know what a banana is, but you have no idea what they call it.Normally, a quarterback -- even a quarterback who has gone through three regime changes in three years, as Bradford has -- is provided with at least an offseason to learn the new language. In Minnesota, Bradford had just two weeks. He doesnt know much about us, so hes just finding the open guy, receiver Adam Thielen says. The way it happened so fast, there was no other choice but to trust us.LESS THAN FOUR minutes into the Vikings rout of the Texans, Thielen runs down the right sideline and puts a double move on cornerback Johnathan Joseph as Bradford releases the ball. When it spins off his fingertips in a geometrically precise arc, its outcome as obvious as its spiral, you know precisely why he was chosen No. 1 in 2010. And as it lands in Thielens hands, as if dropped there by a gentle wind, for a 36-yard touchdown, you know why the Vikings gave up a first-round pick in next years draft and a conditional fourth in 2018 to get him to replace Bridgewater. Those who believe in Bradford do so despite his past, despite his injury history and despite an undercurrent of skepticism about his mental toughness. He missed the entire 2014 season after injuring his knee midway through 2013 and re-injuring it in preseason. He threw for more than 3,700 yards in Chip Kellys offense in Philadelphia last season, but 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions left critics unconvinced. Of the six quarterbacks taken with the No. 1 pick since QBR became a measurement of a quarterbacks worth, only the infamous bust JaMarcus Russell had a worse rating than Bradfords 49.8.But is it possible that quarterbacks arent out there by themselves?Minnesotas offense, after losing Adrian Peterson in Week 2, employs more of what Bradford does best: working out of the shotgun, throwing short, quick passes to make up for the NFLs worst rushing offense. In leading Minnesota over the Texans to go 5-0, Bradford was 22-of-30 for 271 yards and two TDs. But to get a clear view of Bradfords resurgence, you also have to look to the other side of the ball. The Vikings D, fast and nasty, is allowing an NFL-low 12.6 points per game. (By comparison, the Eagles allowed 26.9 a year ago.)As for the persistent suggestions that Bradford has lacked mental toughness, that causes Vikings tight ends coach Pat Shurmurs eyes to flash and his voice to rise. Thats so far from the truth, he says, leaning into the words. Shurmur was Bradfords offensive coordinator in his rookie year in St. Louis, then again last season in Philadelphia. He repeatedly says he felt responsible for Bradford in both places. In Minnesota, he was Bradfords most vocal advocate when the trade was being discussed. He got injured, and sometimes theres nothing you can do about that, he says. Along the way, hes taken some hits and matured as a pro. Not mentally tough? Thats the furthest from the truth when you talk about Sam. Hes tough as nails.I really think hes a different guy here, Boone says. I think hes more confident, more comfortable. I think hes not afraid to let it loose.Six weeks removed from losing Bridgewater for the season, and four weeks removed from losing Peterson, perhaps for the season, the trade for Bradford is viewed within the Vikings locker room as a message from GM Rick Spielman. It really showed the confidence they have in the team, Smith says. This isnt a rebuilding year. Its not, Oh, we were going to be really good, but now well just see what happens. It reinforced to us that the time is right now.Or, as Boone says: Sam came wrapped in gold. Its clear that the king of the eye roll wouldnt agree, and that the reconsideration of Sam Bradford will continue along its unemotional, monotonous path. The cosmic importance of football eludes him. He doesnt take himself too seriously, and he sincerely hopes nobody else does either. Hes been down that road before. He doesnt particularly like the view. cheap jerseys . Vettel was 0.168 seconds faster than Red Bull teammate Mark Webber around the Suzuka circuit. Brian Campbell breaks down every match at WWE Clash of Champions -- the first Raw-exclusive pay-per-view since the WWEs brand split. Senior stats analyst Sean Coyle offers ratings for each match; criteria for ratings is based on storytelling, in-ring execution, match?psychology,?timing and innovation -- worth up to one point each for a?maximum of five points..This recap will be updated on a match-by-match basis.(c) - Indicates defending championWWE Universal championship: Kevin Owens def. Seth Rollins?by pinfall (25:07)To read a full recap of the Universal championship match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins, click here.WWE United States championship: Roman Reigns def. Rusev (c) by pinfall (17:07) He may no longer be the guy in WWE, but Reigns, at the very least, added a new piece of hardware to his budding Roman Empire. After teasing a push into the Universal title picture on Raw in recent weeks, WWE sent Reigns back into his rivalry with Rusev on Sunday as the three-time WWE champion ended matters via pinfall to begin his first reign as United States champion. In an often slow and deliberate match that took a long time to heat up, Reigns rallied late by breaking free of Rusevs Accolade submission to land his patented spear for the victory.Reigns, who sold back and rib injuries throughout as Rusev attempted to wear him down for that late submission attempt, saw an earlier spear attempt interrupted when Rusevs wife Lana stood on the apron and distracted him -- allowing Rusev to roll Reigns up for a near three-count. Lana went one step too far moments later. After Reigns avoided an Accolade attempt and landed a spear, his pinfall was interrupted when Lana grabbed the leg of the referee and pulled him out of the ring. Instead of Rusev being instantly disqualified, allowing him to retain the title, the referees discretion led to Lana being banished from ringside. The sudden lack of distraction fueled Reigns, who landed a drive by kick on the ring apron before a second on the announce table leading up to the matchs finish and his fifth title reign since joining the WWEs main roster.WWE Raw womens championship: Charlotte (c) def. Bayley and Sasha Banks by pinfall (on Bayley) (15:28)It was wild and often out of control, with high-risk spots and constant near falls, but lets face it; this womens championship match was nearly everything you would want from a triple-threat title match between three top stars.Charlotte, who was at her physical and nasty best as a heel champion, retained her title by pinfall after a pair of boots to the face against Bayley; that Bayley inadvertently knocked Banks out of the ring during the first kick should further intensify their budding rivalry.Bayleys on-screen friendship with Banks has slowly dissolved in recent weeks, thanks to Banks competitiveness, and it took another step back early in the match when the two pushed each other in the center of the ring after exchanging unpleasantries. From there, the match went in many different directions -- nearly all of them exciting.Charlotte performed what would ultimately be a candidate for top move of the night when she laid Banks and Bayley next to each other on the canvas and landed a breathtaking moonsault from the top rope onto both of them. Both attempts from The Boss to lock on her Banks Statement submission were stifled by distractions from Dana Brooke, who aided Charlotte from ringside without setting back their on-screen relationship at all, which had been hot and cold in recent weeks.Bayley, who honored the late Dusty Rhodes by wearing a polka dot pattern on part of her ring attire, paid further tribute when she got a near-fall by rolling Charlotte up with an inside cradle just seconds before the match ended.Chris Jericho def. Sami Zayn by pinfall (15:22)As far as stay-busy feuds are concerned between top-end superstars, Jericho and Zayn produced a fun match to kick off their fledgling rivalry. There wasnt much of anything at stake on Sunday, aside from Zayn seeking retribution for Jericho smashing him in the face with a cell phone two weeks ago on Raw -- and there didnt have to be. Both wrestlers let the focus remain solely on the in-ring action, contributing a series of near falls that consistently raised the intensity.A visibly worn down Jericho kicked out of a series of big moves late, including Zayns Blue Thunder bomb -- leading announcer Corey Graves to say, It doesnt get any closer than that without the bell ringing.Jericho stayed true to his character in the closing seconds by using the veteran tactic of playing possum and appearing hurt, only to catch Zayn with his patented Codebreaker to cap off a gutsy win.Three times Jericho avoided Zayns Helluva Kick by slipping away and overcame Zayns typical mix of high-flying moves, including his tornado DDT after diving through the second rope outside the ring and a textbook Tope Con Hilo dive onto the floor. All the while Jericho, who is doing some of the best work of his career at age 45, perfectly embodied the heel you love to hate, including constant trash talk when he had Zayn down on the canvas. There should be more to come here in the next few weeks.Best-of-7-series finale: Cesaro vs. Sheamus ended in a no contest (16:36)For a seven-match series that played out predictably, lacking any semblance off buzz entering Sunday, Cesaro and Sheamus left everything they had in the ring in No. wholesale stitched nfl jerseys. 7. And a little bit more outside of it. In what was hands down the best match of their series, which began last month at SummerSlam, the two hard-nosed workers battled to a no contest after ringside doctors told the referee that both couldnt continue. The match ended with both wrestlers laid out on the floor after Cesaro clotheslined Sheamus over the ringside barrier and neither could get up quickly enough. It was difficult to tell which injuries were real and which were part of the storyline after a match that featured a series of hard bumps, including a wild suicide dive from Cesaro that saw him inadvertently land on the side of his head on the floor outside the ring. After the match, Cesaro held what appeared to be an injured left shoulder, pleading with the referee to continue and arguing that hed fought with one arm in the past. He then rolled into the ring and motioned for Sheamus to come back as he was forcibly led backstage by doctors and referees. Its uncertain where their rivalry goes from here after Cesaro rallied from a 3-0 deficit to force Sundays match, but for a rivalry that never quite got over during the last four weeks, both wrestlers continued to prove how well they work together and how physical theyre willing to get with each otherWhile Sundays result failed to provide closure, at least it was unpredictable -- an element thats otherwise been lacking in this seriesWWE cruiserweight championship: TJ Perkins (c) def. Brian Kendrick (10:31)If Perkins first cruiserweight title defense against Kendrick is any indication of what WWE fans can expect from the companys newest division, buckle up for what is to come. Not only did Perkins and Kendrick combine to create the kind of innovative and high-flying moves the cruiserweights are known for, they told one heck of a story in the process.Perkins overcame constant attacks on his neck from Kendrick to submit the veteran via knee bar -- but what followed after the match bodes well for the future of their rivalry and the kind of storytelling we can hope to see from the cruiserweights going forward.Kendrick, who has done well to establish a true heel persona, beginning with his early matches in the Cruiserweight classic and continuing with his main roster return on Mondays episode of Raw. His in-ring style and actions carried that further along; Kendrick even pulled the ring apron over Perkins head outside the ring before raining down blows.Hed ultimately shake Perkins hand and hug him after the match, and Perkins mouthed thank you into his ear. But as the two separated, Kendrick landed a vicious head butt to knock him down before walking away.A handshake ... then a HEADBUTT from @MrBrianKendrick to the Cruiserweight Champ @MegaTJP!! #SoreLoser #WWEClash pic.twitter.com/8qMxrReU0i- WWE (@WWE) September 26, 2016The crowd chanted for both equally throughout the match. Each got in their submissions in, as Kendrick used variations of a strait jacket submission to soften Perkins neck. Multiple attempts at a Captains Hook submission choke proved unsuccessful for Kendrick, as did his finishing move, Sliced Bread, after Perkins barely kicked out before the referees three-count.Perkins, who debuted a new 8-bit video game-inspired theme song in his main roster debut, put forth the wildest spot of the match as well when he landed a hurricanrana from the top rope that sent both spilling out onto the floor. Hed ultimately pick up the win too, but the fiery aftermath points to a continued clash in the future.WWE Raw tag team championships: The New Day (c) def. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson by pinfall (6:45)In a physical and fast-paced match to open the Clash of Champions pay-per-view telecast, The New Day extended their tag team title reign to at least 400 days -- second-longest in WWE history (trailing only Demolition) -- by dipping back into their heel bag of tricks from 2015.Xavier Woods, who sat out for The New Day, waited until the referee was distracted to make his presence felt after chaos broke out late in the match. With Karl Anderson hung up on the ropes, Woods used his infamous trombone, Francesca II, to nail Anderson to the side of the head and knock him out.Big E instantly picked Anderson up on his shoulders and tagged in Kofi Kingston, who delivered the Midnight Hour to secure the three-count.Anderson and Gallows had set a vicious tone off the opening bell, with Gallows taking out both Big E and Woods outside the ring while Anderson nearly secured an early pin on Kingston in the matchs opening moments with a running Liger Bomb. The Club continued their onslaught throughout, and further established their nastier feel of late with a series of power moves. Anderson nearly earned a three-count against Kofi following a spinebuster, before Gallows tagged in and did the same with a choke slam.Ultimately, the turning point of the match came moments later when Kingston escaped Gallows and Andersons finishing move, The Magic Killer, before action involving all four wrestlers spilled out onto the floor, leading to the finish that saw The Club fall short once again. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The talk all week was whether former Ohio State assistant and current Rutgers coach Chris Ash could take advantage of his familiarity with the Buckeyes defense. CHEAP NFL JERSEYS WHOLESALE .The answer: Forget about it.The stifling Ohio State defense overwhelmed the Scarlet Knights on the way to methodical 58-0 dismantling Saturday at Ohio Stadium.J.T. Barrett broke the school record for career touchdown passes with the third of his four TD tosses Saturday, and the surging Buckeyes (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) gave Ash a rude welcome in his return to The Horseshoe. They smothered us, said Ash, who spent the past two seasons as a co-defensive coordinator for the Buckeyes.No. 2 Ohio States superb defense never allowed the Scarlet Knights (2-3, 0-2) to penetrate deeper than the Ohio State 38 yard line. They sacked quarterback Chris Laviano three times and allowed just 33 passing yards. They forced Rutgers to punt on each of its 10 drives that didnt end a half.Ash was asked if the Ohio State defense performed better than advertised. They played exceptionally well today, so no, they were not better than I thought, and I thought all along they were pretty darn good, Ash said.Barrett was 21 for 29 for 238 yards before giving way to backup Joe Burrow near the end of the third quarter. He now has 59 TD passes in 27 career games for Ohio State.Theres no doubt hes a Heisman candidate, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said.Freshman tailback Mike Weber continued to cement his place in the Ohio State (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) backfield, rushing for 144 yards on 14 attempts before also taking a seat in the third quarter. He also scored a touchdown, cutting around the left end and racing untouched for a 46-yard score 2 1/2 minutes into the second half.I was just following my blocks, Weber said. They opened up the holes so I could run through. Give credit to the O-line. Today showed how much talent we have.Ohio State piled up 669 yards of total offense, including 410 on the ground. Barrett threw touchdown passes to four receivers.Safety Chris Cioffi had one of the few highlights for Rutgers, picking off Barretts pass on Ohio States opening drive. We came out and fought in the beginning, but the wheels just fell off, Cioffi said.THE TAKEAWAYRutgers: After playing tough against Iowa in 14-7 loss last week, Ash and the Scarlet Knights showed they will need a talent upgrade to keep up with the Big Tens elite teams. It didnt help that star wide receiver and kick returner Janarion Grant suffered a season-ending injury in the Iowa game.We played extremely well last week, Ash said. But this was a completely different animal; the players, their offensive system is sophisticated, they have a lot of weapons. They do an outstanding job.Ohio State: The Buckeyes took care of business again and blew out an overmatched team. They show no signs of slowing down.DEPENDABLE SAMUELOhio State H-back Curtis Samuel was as dependable as ever, catching seven passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, and running for another 68 yards. Hes established himself as a potent dual threat and, as Meyer predicted in the preseason, one of the teams most valuable playmakers.POLL IMPLICATIONSProbably none. Ohio State was impressive but is likely to stay at No. 2 in the AP Top 25 poll behind Alabama.QUOTEABLEDespite everything Ive been though, it feels surreal, said Barrett of breaking the school record for TD passes. Thats crazy that I was just trying to do my part and do my best for the team and then broke the record.UP NEXTRutgers: The Scarlets Knights rough ride through the conference continues with a night game at home against No. 4 Michigan.Ohio State: The Buckeyes will be heavily favored again when they play Indiana in another appetizer game next Saturday before the Big Ten main course.--Follow Mitch Stacy at http://twitter.com/mitchstacyFor some of his other recent stories: http://bigstory.ap.org/content/mitch-stacy JERSEYS NFL WHOLESALE . -- Teemu Selanne scored the first goal of his 22nd NHL season, and the Anaheim Ducks extended the best start in franchise history with their fifth straight victory, 3-2 over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. RIO DE JANEIRO -- The golden drought is over for France in fencing. One of the sports traditional powers won its first fencing gold medal since 2008, easily defeating Italy 45-31 in the mens team epee final on Sunday at the Rio de Janiero Olympics.Yannick Borel wrapped the match up for France with a quick touch of opponent Marco Fichera. Borel ripped off his mask and let out a scream to celebrate.Eight years is a long time for France to go without an Olympic fencing gold.Just the happiest moment in my fencing life, said Borel, a grin running from ear to ear. You want to share this with your friends. They are screaming, you are screaming, too.Until Sunday, the French team overall managed just a silver and bronze in fencing in Rio. They were left off the podium entirely at the 2012 London Games. The shutout ended with a resounding victory at Carioca Arena 3.Hungary won the bronze after beating Ukraine 39-37.In the final, Borel seemed to let out eight years of frustration for French fencers with a yell in the direction of vocal fans waving the French flag and his teammates.Later, Borel locked arms with teammates Daniel Jarent and Jean-Michel Lucenay, and the team jumped up and down in unison under the spotlights on the piste. SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State is favored by seven points against California on Saturday night, an indication of how far the Aztecs have come under coach Rocky Long. Cheap Jerseys Authentic .Now they need to follow through and beat the Golden Bears to extend their winning streak to 12 games and perhaps gain some strong national respect. The Aztecs believe they have something special this year behind senior running back Donnel Pumphrey and senior cornerback Damontae Kazee. This game is a big measuring stick for the Aztecs. They lost to Cal 35-7 at Berkeley a year ago in the first game of a three-game losing streak that put them at 1-3. They turned it around and won 10 straight, including the Mountain West Conference championship game against Air Force and the Hawaii Bowl against Cincinnati. After opening with a 31-0 home victory against New Hampshire, the Aztecs face a Cal team led by senior quarterback Davis Webb. Webb threw for 441 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score in a 51-31 victory against Hawaii in Sydney, Australia.Long doesnt see much difference in the two teams this year, even though Cals Jared Goff has moved on to the Los Angeles Rams. The quarterback they have now is probably not going to be the first guy picked in the draft, but hes pretty darn good, Long said. They didnt take a step backward. I can promise you at quarterback, they didnt take a step backward. So what does that tell you? The two teams are the same teams that played a year ago, so that makes them 28-point favorites.Vegas sees it differently, but thats just Long being Long.Webb expects a tough go against the SDSU defense. Thats one of the things that pops out, how much of a veteran group they do have in the back end, he said. So our receivers have a handful and were looking forward to the challenge. Here are some things to look for when the Aztecs (1-0) host the Golden Bears (1-0):HEISMAN HYPE: San Diego State students dont have a vote for the Heisman, but theyre the ones with the best view of a 50-foot banner hanging from a residence hall that proclaims, Pumphrey for Heisman. The Aztecs hope that word -- and images -- of the banner can spread via social media. It hardly has the exposure of the $250,000 billboard Oregon placed near Madison Square Garden in New York to promote Joey Harrington in 2001. Pumphrey is the nations active career rushing leader with 4,370 yards, ranking him 64th on the NCAAs all-time list. He ran for 98 yards in the Aztecs 31-0 opening win against New Hampshire. Pumphrey needs 220 yards to pass Marshall Faulk (4,589 yards) on SDSUs career rushing list. Faulk finished second to Miamis Gino Torretta in the 1992 Heisman balloting.JET LAGGED: After taking a 7,500-mile road trip to open the season against Hawaii in Australia, the Bears welcomed a week off at home to rest up for the rest of the season. The Bears practiced in full pads twice and had two light practice days last week before starting preparations for this weeks game against the Aztecs. Our focus level really got tuned in coming back from Australia, offensive lineman Chris Borrayo said. After this bye week we really got focused back in.GO-TO RECEIVER: Webb didnt take long to find a favorite receiver after Cal lost its top six wideouts from a year ago. He completed 14 passes to Chad Hansen in the opener for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Hansen nearly equaled last years season total of 19 catches and tied for the third best single-game mark in school history.HEALTHY LINE: Cal expects to get a big boost on its offense when starting left tackle Aaron Cochran is expected to return this week. Cochran sprained his right knee in summer camp and missed the season opener. He will be needed this week against an Aztecs defense that is known for bringing exotic blitzes.THE SERIES: The Golden Bears own a 4-3 series advantage. The home team has won all seven meetings. Cal has won the last two games, including last year and 42-37 on Sept. 14, 1996. The Bears are just the second Power 5 team to visit Qualcomm Stadium since Sept. 17, 2011, and just the third team from a current Power 5 school to play the Aztecs at home since Sept. 3, 2005. Sri Lanka 290 for 5 (Dhananjaya 100*, Tharanga 79, Masakadza 2-18) v Zimbabwe Scorecard and ball-by-ball details It took Upul Tharanga multiple stints and close to 11 years after his first Test century to bring up his second. Cheap NFL Jerseys China . A week on, he looked set to add to that tally. He had progressed serenely to 79 during the course of a 143-run fifth-wicket stand with Dhananjaya De Silva and revived Sri Lanka after a top order wobble, before fading light brought about a slightly more circumspect approach that may have contributed to his dismissal. At the other end, Dhananjaya calmly waded through the 90s to bring up his second Test century as Sri Lanka nudged ahead on a see-saw opening day, ending it 290 for 5.Things could have been much better for Zimbabwe had they fielded and caught better. In the penultimate over of the day, Brian Charis underarm flick at the bowlers end missed the stumps and reprieved Asela Gunaratne, who was on 10. Before that came a costlier miss, Peter Moor fluffing a chance down the leg side off Graeme Cremer to let Dhananjaya off on 64. That was the only uncertain moment in Dhananjayas innings, which showcased his ability to tailor his tactics to Sri Lankas situation.Happy to hit through the line against the seamers, he eliminated drives against Cremers legspin as the day wore on. That wasnt to say he was completely guarded, for the bad balls were punished, at times with a touch of disdain. If Tharanga was an accumulator, Dhananjaya was the artist during the course of Sri Lankas highest fifth-wicket stand against Zimbabwe - they surpassed the previous best of 114 between Asanka Gurusinha and Hashan Tillakaratne at Sinhalese Sports Club (Colombo) in 1996. The pair batted through 50.3 overs on a surface that offered plenty of lateral movement. As the day progressed, there was even a hint of turn and inconsistent bounce, which further underlined the importance of the partnership. Dhananjaya, who walked in to bat with Sri Lanka 112 for 4, hit 11 fours and was batting on 100 at stumps.Zimbabwe, who were on the wrong side of several decisions in the first Test, were beneficiaries of the Decision Review System that was introduced for the first time in the country. Tharanga, initially given not out by umpire Simon Fry, had to walk back when replays suggested he had nicked the ball while driving away from his body at Cremer, before the ball bounced to slip off the wicketkeepers pads.Zimbabwes relief was palpable, and continued to attack with the seamers, taking the second new ball as soon as it became available, but Dhananjaya and Gunaratne saw out the rest of the days play.Choosing to bowl first, Zimbabwe were dealt an early blow when Carl Mumba, one of their three frontline seamers, left the field with knee trouble after bowling his first over. His absence, coupled with the waywardness of Christopher Mpofu, helped Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva to rattle off 60 in the first hour.Hamilton Masakadza led Zimbabwes revival with his part-time seam after being summoned up to give Mpofu and Donald Tiripano a breather. It took him just 10 balls to break the 62-run opening stand, Dimuth Karunarate gliding an away-going delivery into the hands of Sean Williams at gully. In Masakadzas next over, Kusal Perera swiped a full-length delivery to Mumba at long-on.The pressure Zimbabwe maintained thereon played a part in their next breakthrough, Mpofu trapping Kaushal Silva lbw with an in-dipper in the penultimate over before lunch. It was a dramatic dismissal. Given out by umpire Fry, Kaushal was denied a review by his own indecision - he took more than the prescribed 15 seconds before asking for it. Replays suggested Zimbabwe were lucky, with ball-tracking showing the angle taking the ball past leg stump. Two overs after lunch, Sri Lanka lost Kusal Mendis and were a precarious 112 for 4. Tharanga, who walked in at No 5, laced the first two balls he faced to the cover boundary and glanced his fourth ball for another four. Having gotten off to that turbocharged start, he progressed steadily. Early in his innings, Dhananjaya marked his arrival, splitting midwicket and mid-on with a whiplash flick off Mpofu. That was just one of several moments of class in his effort to lead Sri Lankas revival. NFL Jerseys China .875,000, avoiding arbitration. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder isnt thrilled with Kevin Durants decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors.During an appearance at the Basketball Hall of Fame on Thursday, Crowder repeatedly expressed dismay that Durant elected to join a super team rather than continue to fight against the one that won an NBA-record 73 games last season. The Celtics were one of six teams that made a sales pitch to Durant at the start of free agency earlier this month. We were the only team in the NBA to beat [Cleveland?and Golden State] on their home court. The only team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics, Crowder told MassLive.com. We told him that. We played him clips from both games and told him basically the scouting report of how we guarded Steph [Curry]?and Klay [Thompson]?-- our entire game plan, basically. Thats what made me mad. We f---ing told him everything we do to beat these guys, and we beat them, and he went and joined them. ...Afterward, I was talking to Isaiah [Thomas], like maybe after you sit back, [we] shouldnt have told him everything, but who the f--- thought he was going to Golden State, realistically? It was like a slap in the face for us, basically.Crowder, who was part of the Celtics contingent that traveled to the Hamptons to pitch Durant over the Fourth of July weekend, echoed what many in the traveling party already have said: Boston emerged from its meeting feeling as if it had made a real strong pitch. Crowder felt that if Durant decided to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Celtics had to be considered a front-runner to pry him away.Crowder remains incredulous that Durant chose Golden State instead.Toward the end of a question-and-answer session during the Halls 60 Days of Summer program, a young fan asked Crowder to name the toughest NBA player to defend. Crowder picked Durant, which elicited loud boos from a crowd filled largely with fans in Celtics green.Crowder smiled and said, Yeah, Im with you guys.Crowder still enjoyed the experience recruiting Durant, particularly the fact that the Celtics trusted him to be part of it. Crowder especially enjoyed getting to mingle with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was there to help woo the ex-Thunder star.Youll never forget [Bradys presencee], Crowder said. Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping. It was unexpected. They tried to keep it as a secret and surprise [Durant]. It was great just to sit back, have lunch and talk to [Brady] about anything he wanted to open up and talk about. He asked us questions about basketball, of course. And we asked him questions about football. But it was fun to just sit down and talk to another athlete of his nature, even before the meeting, and just talk. And meet him.The pitch, what he talked about was the city of Boston and the fans and how [Brady] embraced it. It was great. I think Kevin needed to hear that. He wanted to hear how it was living in Boston, and Brady told him about the fans. I know [about the fans]; just like everybody knows. We told him: Theyre really very passionate about their club and they really want to win. If you dont do that, they let you hear it. But its all out of passion and all out of respect of the game. They want to win; its all about championships here.Crowder believes the Celtics have upgraded with the signing of Al Horford, and he believes the team will find additional pieces to make it a surefire contender in the Eastern Conference.I just text [Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge], trying to see where everything is going, Crowder said. After [Durants decision], I just asked like, Well, whats the direction now? And he said, Were still trying to make moves. So that means were still active. And we still have a lot of assets, we still have a lot of young players. So we gotta figure it out. We can be as aggressive as we want to. But I do feel like were one or two pieces away still.Crowder said of Horford: He helps out tremendously. My guys were telling me something about [one media projection] predicted us to win 59 games.Hes going to help us out a lot. And last year we won 48 games without a guy of his nature. I just think that right there, what people see, speaks volumes. He can help us out a lot. And his style of play fits right in. So its not like were trying to train him into something that hes not. Hes going to play the same way hes been playing. And I think hes going to help us out a lot. The Minnesota Wild added one of their top prospects for the stretch run of the race for the playoffs Corey Moore Jersey , signing left wing Jordan Greenway to a three-year, entry-level contract on Monday.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Greenway was expected to join the team in time to play at Nashville on Tuesday, with seven games to go in the regular season. The Wild are in third place in the Central Division, just ahead of a crowded race for the two Western Conference wild cards.

Greenway had 92 points in 112 games for Boston University. The Terriers lost to Michigan in the Northeast Region final of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Greenway had 13 goals, 22 assists and 52 penalty minutes in 36 games in his junior season. He took a hiatus to play for the U.S. team at the Olympics in South Korea Jessie Bates III Jersey , scoring one goal in five games while playing often on a checking line.

”It’s rare to find a player with that combination of size, speed and skill, and he’s a guy we think is ready to play in the NHL,” Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher told reporters. ”It’s a tough league. I’m sure there are going to be adjustments, and he’s going to have to learn the league and figure out how his game translates at this level, but having said that the skill set is pretty impressive.”

Greenway Taco Charlton Jersey , who was drafted in the second round in 2015, can give the club a big-bodied, aggressive presence at the net that it could use more of.

”He’s certainly a physical strong man on the ice, but just a very good kind person off the ice,” Fletcher said. ”He gets along with people and loves life. He’s worked hard for this. I’m very happy for him.”

The Wild also reassigned right wing Zack Mitchell to the minors on Monday.

Tom Brady is not looking to have the radio host who called his daughter ”an annoying little pissant” to lose his job.

The Patriots quarterback said early Monday he’s reconsidering whether to continue a long-running weekly radio appearance with the station. Hours later at the Super Bowl media night, he was asked about the incident in which WEEI host Alex Reimer made the remarks about Brady’s 5-year-old daughter after watching the first episode of a Brady documentary called ”Tom vs. Time” that is airing on Facebook. Reimer’s show aired Thursday Lamarcus Joyner Jersey , four days before Brady’s weekly morning radio segment with different hosts.

”I didn’t hear too much about it. I didn’t get into it much,” Brady said at the Xcel Center. ”I certainly hope the guy is not fired.

”I just know everybody is real protective of their kids. I never stayed away from criticism. I understand that criticism is part of sports. But I certainly don’t think that my children or anybody else’s children deserve to be in that. And that’s what I said.”

Brady cut short an appearance on Monday morning and said, ”I’ll obviously evaluate whether I want to come on this show again.

”It’s very disappointing when you hear that certainly with my daughter or any child. They certainly don’t deserve that.”

The station says Reimer has been suspended indefinitely.

The Patriots and the station recently announced an extension of their agreement, which involves weekly calls from Brady and coach Bill Belichick. The five-time Super Bowl champions will play for their sixth ring against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Brady expressed no regrets about doing the Facebook series.

”I thought it was fun. I thought it was a great opportunity,” he said. ”The fans like it. And that’s really what we were looking for.”

He said his son will be in an upcoming episode that features their summer trip to China.

Patriots safety Devin McCourty praised Brady defending his daughter.

”It’s always easy to defend our families,” McCourty noted. ”I thought that was very disappointing to see anyone say anything negative toward his daughter Sherrick McManis Jersey , or anything about your family. Really poor taste.

”But I think as always Tom handled it in the right way with something like that. But I think with all of us that’s one thing that we’re gonna tolerate is anything toward our family.”

Jon Gruden is football through and through. It doesn't matter what level Darren Fells Jersey , what age, or where.

The former and now current coach of the Raiders displayed that again Tuesday by overseeing the distribution of funds and equipment to four Oakland youth football programs through the DICK'S Sporting Goods Sports Matter Program. Gruden has been a major spokesman for that initiative for more than four years.

In the afternoon at Raiders headquarters, Gruden presented grants of $15,000 to the head coaches of McClymonds High School and Oakland Tech. He invited the coaches of both teams to the Raiders main office for a "special behind- the-scenes tour" and discussion of football in Oakland. When the tour ended, Gruden handed over the checks to the surprised coaches.

At night, coaches and players from the East Bay Panthers and San Leandro Crusaders headed to a "friendly scrimmage" at Burrell Field. When the teams ran onto the field, they were stunned to see new football helmets Duke Johnson Jersey , pads, balls and water bottles laid out on the field for them.

Each league received a $50,000 grant.

"Being back in Oakland and getting back into coaching has only fired me up more to work with DICK'S Sports Matter program to help more kids have the opportunity to play," said Gruden, who also gave the Panthers and Crusaders a pep talk. "Like so many other cities in the U.S., we have an issue with youth sports funding here in Oakland. Costs are rising 鈥?kids can't afford to play and coaches can't afford to coach.

"Seeing these kids' faces light up and knowing that sports will teach them so many valuable lessons they will carry with them off the field is really special."

Gruden encourages other youth sports program struggling to get by "to visit SportsMatter.org to apply for help."

"If you give your absolute best effort on the field, the lessons that sports teach will stay with you forever Chad Kelly Jersey , and help you to be your best in every part of your life," he said.

Oakland has an 18.9 percent poverty rate, and the highest crime rate of any city in California.

Many areas in cities across the country need funding for their youth sports and school athletic programs. According to Up2Us Sports, a nonprofit whose research, training, and on-the-ground initiatives empower sports programs to become an agent of positive social change, billions of dollars have been cut from school sports budgets in recent years. These cuts disproportionately impact students in low income areas DeMarcus Ware Jersey , and students from low-income families are four times more likely to decrease participation in sports due to costs.

Student athletes have an 11 percent higher graduation rate than non-athletes, Up2Us Sports reports. The U.S. Department of Education adds that students who participate in sports are four times more likely to attend college.

DICK'S and its foundation created Sports Matter in 2014, pledging more than $50 million to support youth sports programs in need and raise awareness of the funding crisis. To date, Sports Matter has helped fund tens of thousands of youth sports programs and impacted hundreds of thousands of young athletes nationwide.

"It's days like today that make it all worth it, and we can't thank coach Gruden and DICK'S enough," said Jacob Davis, president of the East Bay Panthers. "We love these kids and know how important sports are to keep them off the streets and doing positive things in their lives. This money will go a long way in helping our leagues survive and thrive."

The New Orleans Pelicans say they’ve voided around 2 Mike Singletary Jersey ,500 playoff tickets that were purchased improperly during a pre-sale event for the second round of the NBA playoffs.

The club says the event was designed exclusively for season-tickets holders, but that codes provided for online purchases were shared with people who were not eligible for the promotion.

The Pelicans say they have not previously had a problem with the improper sharing of promotional codes for ticket sales, but that an ”unprecedented demand for playoff tickets resulted in tickets being purchased by non-season ticket or partial season ticket holders.”

The club says it conducted a review of the presale and voided all purchases from unqualified buyers.

The Pelicans say they have sought to notify those whose tickets have been voided, as well as business which sell Pelicans tickets on the secondary market.

John Dorsey might make a deal for the top pick in this year's NFL draft 鈥?if the price is the right.

At the league's scouting combine on Thursday Ricardo Louis Jersey , the Cleveland Browns general manager took his sales pitch public.

"There are a lot of things we can do at No. 1 and not just get a quarterback," Dorsey said. "If someone wants to come up and make a trade, I'd make a trade, too. Just give me a call and see what's up."

Cleveland's constant quest to find the right quarterback has become perhaps the most-watched show in the league.

They've used 28 different starters since 1999, and it's unclear if they'll cast aside yet another youngster, DeShone Kizer, after he led the league in interceptions and went 0-15 as the starter.

Dorsey has the advantage of having watched Kizer perform in the final four games of 2017.

"What I really liked was how much he improved from week to week," Dorsey said. "I think I've told you that a young quarterback usually makes exponential growth from Year 1 to Year 2."

Back home, anxious fans are still clamoring to find that elusive franchise quarterback.

They're frustrated after watching Cleveland whiff on Johnny Manziel in 2015, trade the No. 2 pick to Philadelphia in 2016 that allowed the Eagles to choose Carson Wentz and pass last year on Deshaun Watson. Instead, they took Kizer in the second round.

And with a deep quarterback class and two of the top four picks in April, some think this could finally be the time. Dorsey might not see it the same way.

After acknowledging the Browns interviewed an unnamed quarterback on Wednesday night and intend to meet all of the big names before the bulk of the combine work wraps up Sunday, he dropped no hints about what the Browns might do with either pick.

Instead, he's looking for long-term solutions.

Coach Hue Jackson, who is 1-31 over the last two seasons Demaryius Thomas Jersey , certainly isn't advocating for more change.

"I would hope not," Jackson said when asked Wednesday if he intends to start a rookie QB. "There's going to be other opportunities as we all know. We've just got to see how it all fits as we move forward."

Finding a veteran quarterback in free agency, such as AJ McCarron, remains a possibility, too.

But if a quarterback-needy team is willing to make a quality offer, Dorsey could spend all of those precious picks on putting a better supporting cast around Kizer.

Dorsey also didn't provide an update on the status of longtime left tackle Joe Thomas. After playing more than 10,000 consecutive snaps, Thomas ended the season on injured reserve with a torn left triceps and has been pondering retirement.

"I have greatly admired Joe from his time at Wisconsin through his time with the Browns," Dorsey said. "I think he deserves a little respect and when it comes time to make the proper decision, I'm sure he'll make it."

With its decision to ban kneeling during the national anthem, critics are accusing the NFL of prioritizing being in the good financial graces of mainstream America over the social justice passions of its players trying to draw attention to the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of police.

Some opponents of the new policy now vow to never watch an NFL game again.

The NFL's new anthem policy 鈥?similar to NBA rules in place for decades 鈥?makes the athletes stand for "The Star-Spangled Banner" or be absent from the field while it's played.

Critics say the league acted without input from its majority-black players and buckled to pressure from some major advertisers and even President Donald Trump, who rallied his mostly-white base against players for failing to display their patriotism, shifting the debate from social justice for minorities to how to act during the anthem itself. Others, including some players, applauded the league's action or took no issue with the policy.

"I think they made this decision to placate Donald Trump and those like him who blindly equate standing for the national anthem with patriotism [url=]Tyler Boyd Jersey[/url] ," said Democratic U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond of Louisiana, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "The country I want is a country where everyone wants to stand for the national anthem," Richmond said, emphasizing the word "wants."

Vice President Mike Pence tweeted "#Winning" and declared the decision "a win for the fans, a win for (President Trump), and a win for America."

The NFL started requiring players in the league to be on the field for the anthem in 2009 鈥?the year it signed a marketing deal with the military. Its new rule passed Wednesday permits players to stay in the locker room during the "The Star-Spangled Banner" but requires them to stand if they come to the field.

Taking a knee during the anthem has been an issue since August 2016, when now-unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick started protesting the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of police. The issue bubbled over from the field into living rooms as other players joined the movement, and morphed into a larger discussion last fall when Trump called on NFL owners to fire players who did not stand during the national anthem.

"This is white supremacy, period. A blatant and disgusting attempt to strip black athletes of their voice and reduce them to a number on a jersey 鈥?all while continuing to profit off of their bodies," said Rashad Robinson, executive director of advocacy group Color of Change.

Bree Newsome, who climbed a pole to snatch down the Confederate flag at the South Carolina statehouse in 2015, tweeted: "For the white-owned NFL to blackball Kaepernick & then change policy to specifically target Black athletes' protest of racism is not simply a matter of football. It is about using one of the largest stages in America to reinforce racial caste in USA."

Civil rights groups denounced the decision.

"Instead of working together to address an issue disproportionately plaguing the communities of the majority of NFL players, the owners instead desire that players bury their heads, shut up Jerry Hughes Jersey , and just play football," NAACP chairman Derrick Johnson said.

Kaepernick and other NFL players who kneeled said their protests were over the shootings and other mistreatment of African Americans at the hands of law enforcement. The quarterback was not resigned by the San Francisco 49ers after beginning his protest and has not played for an NFL team since. He has filed a grievance against the league, as has out of work safety and fellow protester Eric Reid.

Calls to boycott the NFL because of the anthem decision started immediately online. NFL fans previously had threatened to boycott the NFL because players were kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner, and others said they wouldn't watch until Kaepernick was signed by a team. Now a new group is promising not to watch pro football games.

"As a former NFL player I am extremely conflicted but more than likely will not be supporting anymore until this is resolved amongst other issues," said Matthew A. Cherry, who played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers and the Baltimore Ravens.

The NFL Players Association said it would challenge any changes that violate the collective bargaining agreement.

"This is fear of a diminished bottom line. It's also fear of a president turning his base against a corporation," Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long said on Twitter . "This is not patriotism. Don't get it confused. These owners don't love America more than the players demonstrating and taking real action to improve it. It also lets you, the fan, know where our league stands."

Cardinals safety Antoine Bethea, a 12-year NFL veteran, said "fining players for really expressing what they believe, I think that's kind of overboard."

Others said they approved of the compromise.

"I'm going to stand for the national anthem," Denver defensive end Derek Wolfe said. "Whatever anybody else wants to do Andre Hal Jersey , that's their decision and they have the right to their opinion. So, they can do whatever they want 鈥?as long as they stay in the locker room, I guess."

Pittsburgh Steelers guard Ramon Foster shrugged his shoulders when asked about the policy and said that in a way, players are powerless.

"If the team says, 'This is what we're doing,' and ownership (does too), you either deal with it or you're probably going to get cut," Foster said.

The Washington Redskins will honor their 1987 replacement team that won all three games by giving them Super Bowl rings next week.

The team will hold a ceremony Tuesday at its practice facility with replacement players and the general manager of the '87 NFL champions Ramik Wilson Jersey , Charley Casserly.

It's an unusual move considering how divisive the replacement games were during the NFL players' strike that season. But the replacements helped Washington go 11-4 overall 鈥?one game was canceled by the walkout 鈥?before winning two playoff games and the Super Bowl over Denver.

"Their contributions are part of Redskins history and represent an integral reason why a Lombardi Trophy from the 1987 campaign resides in our facility today," team owner Dan Snyder said.

In Washington's first game with replacement players, it defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 28-21 as wide receiver Anthony Allen set a franchise record with 225 yards receiving on seven catches. The next week, the Redskins beat the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants 38-12. Despite the strike ending four days later, the Redskins' replacement players beat Dallas 13-7 even though the Cowboys had several starters in their lineup.

The next week Jerry Hughes Jersey , all regulars returned to the NFL.

On Tuesday, the Virginia General Assembly commended the replacement members of the 1987 team. Quarterback Tony Robinson and defensive lineman Anthony Sagnella represented the players in Richmond.

The Philadelphia Eagles 41-33 Super Bowl 52 victory over the New England Patriots was, for the most part, had excellent reffing and didn't come with much controversy. But upon further review, the officials apparently missed a very crucial call that could have changed the outcome of the game.Nick Foles' one-yard touchdown catch from Trey Burton near the end of the first half was arguably the biggest play of the game. But according to Mike Pereira - former VP of NFL officiating and current rules analyst for Fox Sports - the Eagles should have been penalized for illegal formation.Per聽Clark Judge from the Talk of Fame Network Zach Miller Jersey , Pereira said that the league deemed it as "a judgement call," but wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was not lined up properly, which should have been a penalty:鈥淣ot only that, it鈥檚 a trick play. And if you鈥檙e going to run a trick-type play, then you have to be lined up properly. You could either have six men on the line Jeremy Vujnovich Jersey , or you could have an ineligible number lined up at the end of the line, which was the case. I know what the league has said, but they would have been a lot more comfortable if they would have called an illegal formation.鈥淲e always use a yard [within the line of scrimmage], maybe a yard-and-a-half. But that鈥檚 two [yards], and even a little bit beyond two. It鈥檚 kind of one of those that has no effect on the play. I get it. But they didn鈥檛 line up properly. And it really should鈥檝e been called.鈥滺ad the refs penalized the Eagles Marquis Haynes Jersey , it's unlikely head coach Doug Pederson would have told his players to go for it. One has to assume they would have settled for a Jake Elliott field goal instead.Even if the Eagles were penalized and had to take a field goal, the final score would have been 37-33. As such, the referees shouldn't be too scrutinized for missing what Pereira believes should have been an illegal formation penalty..

Lawrence Guy has tried to use every trial he’s faced in his life as an opportunity to learn something about himself.

It helped the Patriots defensive lineman trudge through learning disabilities as a child and in college.

Later Jalen Ramsey Jersey , he overcame the emptiness he felt while helping his wife through a miscarriage during her fifth month of pregnancy.

But as he begins his second training camp in New England, the eighth-year defensive lineman is feeling more grounded and less like an NFL nomad.

He proved to be one of the few consistent pieces on the Patriots defense last season and expectations will be higher as one of the most-tenured players on the defensive line.

Guy is embracing it as his next challenge and says the lessons he’s learned off the football field have prepared him for whatever comes next for him on it.

”I’m still growing,” Guy said. ”Every year you play you’re growing trying to be a better player. … I’m not looking at my years in the league as `Oh, I’ve made it.’ I’m looking at how I’m going to get better.”

Last season Guy highlighted the struggles he and his wife, Andrea, endured in 2016 by honoring the organization that helped him through the loss of their unborn child , Estelle, during the NFL’s My Cleats, My Cause Initiative.

The pain will never fully subside, Guy said, but they did reach a milestone this past June when Andrea gave birth to a daughter, Adriana Paola.

Her arrival not only gave Guy an emotional pickup, he said it has grounded him as a football player.

”When she came Chase Daniel Jersey , the outlook on life became different,” Guy said. ”Your perspective when you come on this field is different. You know you have someone else behind you. I’m playing for my last name, I’m playing for my teammates and I’m playing for my daughter.”

Adriana is already walking and has run into her father’s arms every day after practice.

”To have her here … she may not quite understand it, but you can see the eyes open up when she sees me,” Guy said. ”That feeling is amazing.”

The Patriots signed Guy to a four-year, incentive-laden free agent deal prior to last season. He proved to be worthy of investment, producing 58 combined tackles during the 2017 season – more than any other New England interior lineman. The team showed its appreciation for his efforts in 2017 and following their Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia added a $500,000 bonus to his 2018 salary.

It was a gesture the team didn’t have to make.

Guy appeared in 54.91 percent of New England’s snaps in 2017, just short of the 55 percent that would have triggered the bonus.

He will have to make the roster to see that money, with no guaranteed salary left in his deal after the $4.9 million he made last season. But Guy seems to be a lock on a unit that needs continuity after struggling down the stretch of 2017.

Run stopping is an area that Guy excels in. The hope is that 6-foot-2, 305-pound Danny Shelton, an offseason trade acquisition from Cleveland, can supplement Guy’s efforts in 2018.

Shelton said recently that it’s been easy to develop a rapport with fellow linemen such as Guy Kavon Frazier Jersey , Malcolm Brown and defensive end Trey Flowers.

”We’re all kind of at that point in our career where we know of players and we respect each other’s game,” Shelton said. ”It’s not hard to make friends when you know and you respect the guy’s game.”

The defense will have a new look to it with linebackers coach Brian Flores calling plays following former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia’s departure.

Guy said he’s ready to fill whatever role the Patriots ask of him.

”Right now, we’re just trying to stack days,” Guy said. ”We’re not looking who’s this or who’s that. We’re trying to come together as a unit and move forward every single day. … Every day I step on that field I have to get better at something.”

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (5-11)

OPEN CAMP: July 26 Greg Mancz Jersey , One Buccaneer Place, Tampa, Florida

LAST YEAR: Failed to play up to heightened expectations coming off winning nine games previous season. Lost 10 of 13 following 2-1 start, missing playoffs for 10th straight year. QB Jameis Winston missed three games, plus most of fourth due to injury he tried to play through in three other starts. Lack of consistent running attack was problem. Gerald McCoy-led defense was disappointing, too, ranking last in league with 22 sacks.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: DE Jason Pierre-Paul, DT Beau Allen A'Shawn Robinson Jersey , DE Vinny Curry, DT Vita Vea, RB Ronald Jones, C Ryan Jensen, DT Mitch Unrein.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: RB Doug Martin, DE Robert Ayers, Jr., G J.R. Sweezy Allen Hurns Jersey , DT Chris Baker, DT Clinton McDonald, S T.J. Ward.

CAMP NEEDS: Reconstructing defensive line and improving anemic pass rush were top priorities this offseason. However, getting newcomers Pierre-Paul, Allen, Curry, Unrein and first-round draft pick Vea acclimated to defensive coordinator Mike Smith's system isn't only concern entering camp. Winston will miss first three games of season while serving suspension for violating NFL's personal conduct policy. So, balancing starter's workload in practice along with that of backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick Bob Lilly Jersey , will be focal point during preseason.

EXPECTATIONS: With Winston entering his fourth season, suspended three games for off-field behavior and also due to see his salary increase to $20.9 million in 2019, coach Dirk Koetter and general manager Jason Licht 鈥?as well as 24-year-old Winston 鈥?are on hot seat to end franchise's long playoff drought. Winston will miss season opener at New Orleans, as well as home games against Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. An 0-3 start could be difficult to overcome, even if Pierre-Paul, Vea and Curry are answers to club's pass-rushing woes.

锟斤拷 Geno Smith has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The team announced the agreement with the quarterback Sunday night. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Smith will likely join former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones in backing up Phillip Rivers.

Smith played four seasons with the New York Jets after going 39th overall in the 2013 draft, then spent last season with the New York Giants. Smith started one game for the Giants, throwing for 212 yards and a TD in a 24-17 loss against Oakland.

Smith has appeared in 35 games Maliek Collins Jersey , including 31 starts, and thrown for 6,174 yards with 29 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 659 yards and seven TDs.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins has re-signed with the Washington Redskins Marquis Haynes Jersey , and backup offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe was given a second-round tender worth about $2.9 million.

The Redskins announced both moves Monday.

Hopkins has made 73 of 87 field-goal attempts in three seasons, putting him at 83.9 percent, which ranks second in franchise history among kickers with at least 50 tries. His career-long kick is 54 yards.

He's also made 94.9 percent of extra points, going 93 of 98.

Hopkins missed half of last season with a strained hip muscle. He went 14 of 17 on field-goal attempts and 18 of 19 on extra points.

The 6-foot-8, 338-pound Nsekhe has made 11 starts in the NFL and appeared in a total of 42 games. The 32-year-old tackle started five of the last six games last season.

Matt Forte spent the past few weeks weighing his difficult decision 鈥?to continue a terrific playing career or walk away from the game he loves.

On Wednesday, one of the NFL's most versatile running backs carried the ball for the final time.

The 32-year-old Forte announced his retirement from playing after 10 NFL seasons in a humble and heartfelt statement to Sports Spectrum that he also sent on Twitter and Instagram.

"It's time for the workhorse to finally rest in his stable," Forte wrote.

He had one year remaining on his contract with the Jets, but knee issues during his two seasons in New York, as well as his age, made him a likely salary cap casualty this offseason.

Instead LeSean McCoy Jersey , Forte went out on his own terms.

"For the past 10 years, I've been blessed to play professionally a game that I've loved since I was 6 years old," Forte wrote. "But after much prayer and reflection, I've decided to retire from the NFL."

The move saves the Jets $3 million on their salary cap 鈥?the same amount if they had released him.

Forte's 9,796 yards rushing rank him 33rd on the NFL's career list. He also had 554 receptions, including setting the league record for running backs with 102 catches in 2014.

The two-time Pro Bowl selection's 14,468 yards from scrimmage over the past 10 years are the most of any NFL player during that span.

Forte spent his first eight seasons with Chicago after being drafted in the second round out of Tulane in 2008. With the Bears, he established himself as one of the best all-around running backs in the league as an electrifying presence who could make plays running or catching the ball out of the backfield.

Forte ran for more than 1,000 yards in five of his eight seasons with Chicago, and caught at least 50 passes six times.

"The roar of the crowd at Soldier Field as I'd break a run or make a big catch," Forte wrote Sam Mills Jersey , "will forever be ingrained in my mind."

Simply one of the best on and off the field. Class personified.

He became a free agent after the 2015 season, and the Jets signed him to a three-year, $12 million contract.

Forte led New York with 813 yards rushing, but it was a career low for the running back who ended the season on injured reserve. He had arthroscopic surgery on the knee at the end of the 2016 season to repair a torn meniscus.

Forte was ready for the season opener, but swelling in the knee worsened last November and Forte said he was "basically playing on one leg" since. He ended up on injured reserve to end the season for the second straight year.

He had a career-low 381 yards rushing on just 103 carries last season and ran for two touchdowns, and also had 37 catches for 293 yards 鈥?the second-lowest totals of his career 鈥?and one TD.

Forte said late last season that he had no intentions of calling it a career, despite saying he did not produce "up to standards." But he changed his mind during the past few weeks.

"While my heart is a bit heavy as I close this chapter of my life," Forte wrote, "I am excited about what the future holds."

Forte thanked his parents Antonio Morrison Jersey , wife, agent, the Bears, the Jets and the fans in his statement. He called his career "a miracle" and said playing in Chicago allowed him "to live out my childhood dream in playing for the Bears."

The announcement drew several messages of congratulations and best wishes on social media from current and former teammates with the Jets and Bears. Fellow running backs on other teams such as DeMarco Murray and Mark Ingram also tweeted about Forte,

Former Bears center Olin Kreutz, who played with Forte for three seasons, called him "one of the best all-around backs of his era , if not the best."

Forte.. that guy was a Ball Player !!!! one of the best all around backs of his era if not the best. Congrats !! s://t.co/4jWBlLEwHc

Added former Bears fullback Jason McKie : "I knew you were special the 1st day you set foot in Halas Hall."

Congrats on a Great Career!! I knew you were special the 1st day you set foot in Halas Hall!!Truly an honor to block for you! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Much Love!!Memories Never Retire!! Matt Forte 鈥淲ork Horse鈥?!#BearDown pic.RLOD0BcHkN

Jets safety Jamal Adams, a rookie last season Daeshon Hall Jersey , called Forte "a true class act."

True class act. Learned a lot from the OG! s://t.co/ICF8ASSHg7

Former Bears coach Lovie Smith, who had Forte in his backfield from 2008-12, said "few players embody all-around success better than him! Proud to be his coach."

For the Jets, Forte's decision opens a spot in the backfield. Bilal Powell led New York with a career-high 772 yards rushing and five touchdowns, and caught 23 passes for 170 yards. He is signed through next seaso.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon tried almost every move in the book Donte Jackson Jersey , but it wasn’t enough to prevent a second consecutive shutout loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Lorenzo Cain homered and Jhoulys Chacin combined with three relievers on a six-hitter to pace the Brewers past Chicago, 1-0 on Wednesday, even as Maddon used two pitchers and a catcher in left field in the eighth inning.

The Brewers improved to 3-8 this season against the Cubs and moved 1 1/2 games ahead of second-place Chicago in the NL Central. Seven of the 11 games between the two have been shutouts, five by Chicago.

”We’re a good baseball team and we know they’re a good baseball team,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. ”This series wasn’t going to decide anything, but we know that that’s a team that’s going to be there in the end, so wins against them are important.”

Chacin (6-1) allowed four hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking four to win his sixth consecutive decision. Jeremy Jeffress pitched the seventh, Josh Hader struck out the side in the eighth and Cory Knebel worked a perfect ninth for his sixth save.

”Their guy was really good at keeping us off-balance,” Maddon said. ”He is not overpowering by any means but he pitches well. Sometimes that gives us a lot of trouble when a guy can pitch like that. We had a couple opportunities. We didn’t square him up at all really.”

Mike Montgomery (2-2) allowed only two hits in six innings, both by Cain. He struck out four and walked one in his fourth start since replacing injured Yu Darvish in the rotation.

Cain drove a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left with one out in the third for his eighth homer. He also opened the first inning with a single.

”It was the only run today, but it ended up winning us a ballgame,” Cain said. ”That just shows how great of a job the pitching has been doing. We’ve definitely got to get going and score some more runs. We’re definitely putting too much pressure on our pitchers as a whole.”

To open the eighth, Maddon brought in right-hander Steve Cishek, who gave up an infield single to Orlando Arcia. Cishek then moved to left field for the first time in his eight-year career as left-hander Brian Duensing came on and struck out pinch-hitter Eric Thames.

Duensing then moved to left, also for the first time in his career, and Cishek returned to the mound to retire Cain on a fielder’s choice. Duensing came back to pitch with left field being turned over to catcher Willson Contreras, who made a running catch on Christian Yelich’s drive into the corner for the third out.

”It just popped,” Maddon said. ”(Kyle) Schwarber making the last out, the pitcher coming up third. And the way their batting order set up, it just played out perfectly. You can’t always do it but it worked out today.”

The Cubs won Monday’s series opener 7-2 with five runs in the 11th Michael Roberts Jersey , but managed just two hits in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss.

”We played well the first game but we only got two runs up to the 11th inning of that game and then shutout-shutout,” Maddon said. ”We almost should be grateful we won one out of three.”

The Brewers stranded runners at third in each of the first two innings. In the second, rightfielder Jason Heyward prevented a run, charging in for a sensational sliding grab on Erik Kratz’s one-out sinking liner and then recovering quickly to hold Hernan Perez at third.

MADDON’S MANEUVERING

Duensing, who said he last played left field in high school in 2001, was apprehensive when Cain came to the plate in the eighth. ”I was praying he would stay away from Lorenzo Cain,” Duensing said of Cishek. ”It looked like he was trying to hook one (to left) and I was not appreciative of that. Cishek got the job done so were able to get through there and give our team a chance.”

Maybe because it didn’t affect the outcome, Counsell admired Maddon’s ingenuity. ”It was creative. It was smart. They got matchups they wanted. He did a nice job.”

BRYANT RESTED

With a day off on Thursday, struggling third baseman Kris Bryant was held out to give him two days rest. Bryan is hitless in his last 15 at-bats and has not homered since May 14. Even trailing 1-0 in the ninth, Maddon resisted the urge to use Bryant as a pinch-hitter. ”He has been struggling a lot,” Maddon said. ”Theoretically it sounds wonderful. But I thought (Chris) Gimenez had some good swings today. It’s an easy dialogue to conjure up but I was really trying to give him the day off.”

CAIN JOINS COUNSELL IN BREWERS LORE

The Brewers 1-0 victory over the Cubs was only the second in the all-time series. Milwaukee’s only other 1-0 win was on July 5, 2004 at Miller Park in which Counsell provided the only run with a first-inning homer.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Cubs: RHP Yu Darvish, on the 10-day DL (right triceps tendinitis) and RHP Carl Edwards, also on the DL (right shoulder inflammation), each came through Tuesday’s bullpen session well, Maddon said.

Brewers: RHP Matt Albers, on the 10-day DL (right shoulder discomfort), will continue treatment throughout the weekend, and then be reassessed. … RHP Zach Davies, on the 10-day DL retroactive to May 30 (right rotator cuff inflammation), threw a bullpen session Wednesday Tashaun Gipson Jersey , but is at least three weeks away and will need two or three rehab outings, Counsell said.

UP NEXT

Cubs: Chicago is off Thursday, then heads to St. Louis for a three-game series against the Cardinals. Left-hander Jon Lester (7-2, 2.22) starts for the Cubs, oppose

It’s been a week full of injuries, as more and more pitchers hit the disabled list, making arms a premium once again for Fantasy owners.

He’s not a pitcher, but Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez headlines the list of injured players, as the catcher will miss 3-4 weeks for the second straight season.

There are names like John Hicks, Austin Romine, Tucker Barnhart and Tom Murphy who deserve to be owned in Sanchez’ absence. Now, let’s look at some pitchers to help hold down your rotation.

PLAYERS TO PICK UP

ZACH EFLIN, SP, Philadelphia Phillies (42 percent owned in Yahoo) – First it was Nick Pivetta, now it’s Zach Eflin. The Phillies are having pitchers who were no more than a healthy arm last season turn into legit standouts. Eflin increased his velocity this year, and he’s adding more swings and misses than a season ago. Like Pivetta, it’s smart to grab him before everyone else in your league takes notice.

ZACK WHEELER, SP, New York Mets (12 percent) – Like Jacob deGrom earlier this season, the Mets struggle to win games for Wheeler. That’s OK, though Shelby Harris Jersey , as he is holding his own as of late with a reasonable ERA and a good strikeout rate. He won’t live up to the prospect hype that he had when he was moving through the system, but he can be a useful pitcher for your Fantasy roster.

SHANE BIEBER, SP, Cleveland Indians (57 percent) – Bieber was thought to be a guy who wouldn’t register big strikeout numbers, but would help Fantasy owners out in ERA, WHIP and Wins. Well, in a small sample, he’s averaging more than a strikeout per inning. Add him wherever he’s available.

ADALBERTO MONDESI, OF, Kansas City Royals (1 percent) – Speed is hard to find. Kevin Kiermaier was a suggested pickup last week as a multi-category contributor, but Mondesi is a deep-league add if you’re desperate for speed.

TWO-START PITCHERS TO STREAM

BRENT SUTER, SP, Milwaukee Brewers (39 percent) – It’s not a great week for two-start pitchers, and Suter underachieved in a juicy matchup against the Royals on Wednesday. He’s worth running out again, though, as he gets the Twins and the Braves in a two-start matchup.

KYLE GIBSON, SP, Minnesota Twins (34 percent) – Speaking of failing to capitalize, Gibson struggled against the White Sox on Wednesday. Forget that start, though, as he’s been a quality start machine this year. He’ll face a less-than-favorable team in the Brewers in his first start Jacoby Brissett Jersey , but he’ll wrap the week up against Baltimore, who struggled mightily against right-handed pitching.

NATHAN EOVALDI, SP, Tampa Bay Rays (7 percent) – Eovaldi impressed this week against the Nationals, allowing just one hit over six innings. He has a date with the Marlins and Mets next week; both of which are terrific matchups.

HITTERS TO STREAM

SCOTT SCHEBLER, OF, Cincinnati Reds (22 percent) – Jesse Winker is starting to come around for the Reds, but Schebler has been the 22nd-best outfielder in Yahoo leagues over the past 30 games as the leadoff hitter for the Reds.

LOGAN MORRISON, 1B, Minnesota Twins (13 percent) – The Twins have seven games next week in Milwaukee and against the Orioles‘ bad pitching staff. There’s only one lefty on the slate, which means Morrison is a sneaky streamer to get in your lineup.

ALEN HANSON, 2B/OF, San Francisco Giants (5 percent) – Hanson has been playing regularly for the Giants, and he’s a contributor across multiple categories, with his standout category being batting average. With three games in Colorado and four more against the all-of-the-sudden questionable St. Louis rotation, Hanson could fill the stat sheets for Fantasy owners.

Norway’s Jan Schmid won his third Nordic combined World Cup event of the season on Sunday to maintain his position as one of the gold medal favorites at the Pyeongchang Olympics.

After placing seventh in the ski jumping stage Joel Iyiegbuniwe Jersey , Schmid erased a 1 minute, 14-second deficit in the 10-kilometer cross-country race to finish 6.6 seconds ahead of Estonia’s Kristjan Ilves.

Schmid surged ahead of Ilves with less than one kilometer left to add to his previous World Cup wins in Italy and France last month.

”I managed on the last climb to catch him,” Schmid said. ”In the race I tried to go full speed at the end and hope that nobody follows me and fortunately, It worked.”

Akito Watabe of Japan Thurman Thomas Jersey , who entered Sunday’s event with four straight wins on the World Cup circuit, was third, 11.1 seconds behind.

Watabe still leads the overall World Cup standings with 905 points, 20 ahead of Schmid. Norway’s Joergen Graabek Larry Ogunjobi Jersey , who did not compete in Hakuba, is third with 528 points.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin missed a third straight practice on Tuesday while dealing with a knee issue.

Coach Pete Carroll said after practice that Baldwin had a sore knee coming into camp. He practiced the first two days with the team before being held out each of the last three practices.

"We're just going to take our time with it and be patient," Carroll said.

Carroll said the team is going to give Baldwin a couple of weeks off in order to give him the downtime he needs before gradually working him back to full speed. Carroll said the team knows exactly what the issue is, although the coach wouldn't go into detail.

"He's doing some special treatments to make sure we're taking care of him and then we want to bring him back into shape so we can really get him ready for the long haul Blake Bortles Jersey ," Carroll said.

Defensive end Dion Jordan is also going to miss an extended amount of time while he recovers from what Carroll called a "stress issue" in his "other leg." Jordan has been plagued by injuries to his left knee in past seasons, but it appears his right leg is currently the issue.

"He's got a little bit of healing to do so it's going to be a while," Carroll said. "We've just got to wait it out."

Following the departures of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, the Seahawks have been counting on Jordan to be a presence at defensive end. The four sacks he racked up in five games last season left Seattle excited about what he could bring to the table. However Ka'imi Fairbairn Jersey , he continues to struggle to stay on the field.

"That was a position that we were really hoping he was going to be a factor in," Carroll said.

NOTES: LB Marcus Smith (hamstring) and WR David Moore (hip flexor) were new absences from practice on Tuesday. Neither injury appears to be significant.
