There was only one game in the NHL playoffs Saturday, and the Pittsburgh Penguins escaped with a series win despite getting soundly outplayed in Game Six. http://www.steelersrookiestore.com/Steel...o-Brown-Jersey/ . Scott Cullen has stats and notes from the Islanders-Penguins series. Brooks Orpik scored in overtime to give the Penguins a 4-3 overtime win over the New York Islanders, taking the first-round playoff series in six games. It was Orpiks first goal since November, 21, 2011, against the Islanders. It was his first playoff goal in his 78th career playoff game. What this series showed, however, was that the Islanders werent merely trying to hang on and miraculously compete with the top-seeded Penguins. Rather, the Islanders were the team pushing the pace of play more often. In Game Six, the Isles outshot the Penguins 38-21 and for the entire series the Islanders outshot the Penguins by five shots per game (32.8 to 27.8). Nevertheless, the Penguins earned a top seed during the regular season even though their shot differential was a mediocre +0.8, but a sizzling power play (33.3% vs. the Islanders) helped the Penguins win more than their standard shot differentials would suggest. The Islanders power play, by comparison, was 2-for-20 (10.0%) in the series. In the clinching game, Penguins D Paul Martin had a goal and an assist, with a team-high five blocked shots while playing a team-leading 30:03. The Islanders got a couple of points in Game Six from LW Michael Grabner (1 G, 1 A, +2) and C Keith Aucoin (2 A). LW Josh Bailey led all shooters with six shots on goal. Islanders LW Matt Martin had 11 hits in 12:00 time on ice in Game Six, giving him a playoff-leading 41 hits through six games. John Tavares and Mark Streit led the Islanders with five points in six games, while Tavares, Matt Moulson and Travis Hamonic tied with a team-worst minus-4 rating. Bailey and C Frans Nielsen were the most snakebitten Islanders in the series, failing to score despite registering 16 shots on goal. As might be anticipated, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby were the Penguins top scorers, with 11 and nine points, respectively, but they had help. RW Jarome Iginla had nine points, RW Pascal Dupuis had five goals and seven points, while defencemen Martin and Kris Letang each had six points. Martin led the Penguins with a plus-5 rating. The overriding sense of the Penguins effort in Round One is that they relied on their superior skill too often and it very nearly cost them. They were bailed out by G Tomas Vokoun, who stopped 66 of 69 shots (.957 SV%) in the last two games, but they arent necessarily going to have a goaltending advantage when they face Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators in Round Two. Jean-Gabriel Pageau has scored a few highlight-reel goals for Ottawa. Thursday’s winner is going to stand out among them.

Pageau scored on a penalty shot in overtime to lift the Ottawa Senators over the Florida Panthers 3-2 on Thursday night.

Pageau beat goalie James Reimer five-hole on the winner.

”I was pretty tired and just tried to get my breath back and that’s the only move I know so I just tried to do it again and obviously it worked again Dave Robinson Jersey ,” said Pageau, who also scored in regulation.

The Panthers dropped three points behind New Jersey with a game in hand for the final wild card in the Eastern Conference. The Devils lost to Pittsburgh 4-3 in overtime Thursday.

”Any other time of year you play a back-to-back game and you get a point out of the building on a back-to-back you’d be happy with it,” Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. ”Obviously two points are what matter the most for us in the race that we’re in. We saw what was happening on the scoreboard on the Jumbotron, and it was a chance to gain a point on a team we’re chasing and we didn’t get it done.”

Magnus Paajarvi also scored in regulation for the Senators Jerry Hughes Jersey , and Craig Anderson stopped 24 shots.

”It was time because we deserved the last game and we deserved this one,” Senators coach Guy Boucher said. ”I think Reimer has played terrific against us this year, and I’ve been told it’s not just this year for some reason, and he was doing it again tonight. I thought we deserved more goals than that.”

Aaron Ekblad and Evgeni Dadonov scored for the Panthers J'Marcus Webb Jersey , and Reimer made 27 saves.

Both teams had several chances in overtime before Pageau converted with 16 seconds left after being tripped by Mike Matheson on a breakaway.

Paajarvi tied it 16 seconds into the third period by tipping Zack Smith’s shot.

Erik Karlsson assisted on Paajarvi’s goal for his 50th of the season. It’s his fifth time reaching the mark.

Pageau had a number of chances in the second period and made good on one and was robbed on another.

Ottawa took a 1-0 lead on Pageau’s 13th as he chased down his own shot that went wide and tucked it in behind Reimer 1:24 into the period.

The Panthers tied it with a power-play goal when Ekblad tied a franchise record for goals by a defenseman with his 16th. Just 1:31, later Florida took the lead as Dadonov took a pass in the slot and rang a shot in off the post.

Pageau looked like he had a sure goal late in the period, but Reimer made a great glove save to preserve the lead.

The Senators appeared to open the scoring at the 14-minute mark as Pageau broke in on Reimer, but upon review it was ruled the puck never crossed the goal line.

NOTES: Ottawa D Chris Wideman was shut down for the season with a hamstring injury. … Ottawa F Mark Stone skated Thursday and is hopeful of playing soon. Stone missed his tenth straight game with a leg injury. … Senators F Marian Gaborik missed his fourth straight game with an undisclosed injury. … Florida’s Maxim Mamin Danny Trevathan Jersey , Radim Vrbata, Connor Brickley, Micheal Haley and Ian McCoshen were healthy scratches.

Sasha Rearick is stepping down from his role as the U.S. men’s Alpine ski coach to lead the development side in a restructuring move by the organization.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the change Wednesday. A men’s coach will be named later.

The rearrangement comes on the heels of the Pyeongchang Games Morgan Moses Jersey , where the men’s side didn’t earn an Olympic medal for the first time since 1998. The men’s squad was plagued by injuries and had one podium finish during the 2017-18 World Cup season.

Rearick has spent the last decade leading the team. In his new role, he will work with athletes, coaches and clubs. He also is part of the organization’s ”Project 26” initiative, which examines national team development with an eye toward the 2022 and `26 Winter Games.

Military Humvees, officers in combat gear and the occasional F-16 flying over downtown Minneapolis are all part of the beefed up security measures that come with hosting the Super Bowl. But those images can be scary for some immigrants and refugees who are worried about terrorism, deportation or even a war they can’t forget.

A special team with the city of Minneapolis has been working for weeks to reassure immigrant communities that all the extra muscle is here to keep them safe. The team is reaching out through radio and television broadcasts, social media and in-person meetings with elders and community members. The goal is to keep communities informed about everything from security to transportation issues, and let them know they can also participate in the fun.

”It’s a welcoming place … for people to come downtown and enjoy,” said Michael Yang Eric Ebron Jersey , a southeast Asian community specialist with the city. ”You shouldn’t have to fear anything.”

Minnesota has been a welcoming state for immigrants over the last several decades, thanks in part to its social service programs. The state is home to the largest Somali community in the U.S., roughly 57,000 people according to the latest census figures, most of whom live in the Minneapolis area. The state also has the second-highest Hmong population, behind California.

The team of community specialists in Minneapolis does outreach in immigrant communities all year, but is working with more partners and intensifying efforts in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. Officials believe they have created a model for future Super Bowls or other large events. Among other things, the team is broadcasting weekly radio programs in Spanish, Somali and Hmong and is contracting with others to share social media messages in Spanish http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/brian-quick-jersey , Hmong, Somali, Vietnamese, Oromo and Lao.

The messages are being tailored to each community because while one community might believe armed guards are preventing a terror attack, another might see those same officers as an immigration raid.

”Every community has their own take on the event and their own fears and concerns and we address them by giving them the right information, telling them what’s going on,” said Rose Lindsay with the community relations unit in the Joint Information Center set up for the Super Bowl.

Yang said that even though Hmong immigrants have been in Minnesota for decades, images of the war they left behind are still fresh. Some people he’s met tell him that the armed officers remind them of the military taking over the streets of Laos. Others expressed concern about helicopters or other aircraft flying overhead, saying it reminds them of enemy aircraft.

”With some members of the Hmong community Reggie White Jersey , people are really fearful that there is war,” he said.

The Hmong have also expressed fear of a terrorist attack or hate crimes, and weeks ago elders were asking families to stay away from the Super Bowl activities. Yang said his work has helped ease fears. Other team members agree.

Abdirashid Ahmed, an East African community specialist, is working to explain the Super Bowl to community leaders, faith leaders and other community members. In addition to face-to-face meetings, he’s also monitoring social media to see what the community is talking about.

After a car caught fire in a Somali neighborhood this week, many community members went to social media and asked if there was a terror attack. Ahmed said because of the infrastructure that’s been set up, officials were able to respond within minutes to let the community know it was a mechanical fire and they had nothing to worry about.

When asked if there is fear of racial profiling in a community where some members have been the subject of terror investigations Derrius Guice Jersey , Ahmed said there is always that concern because of the current climate. But as far as it relates to the Super Bowl, ”people are not asking the same kinds of questions they were asking me a month or two months ago.”

”We have been explaining everything,” Ahmed said. ”The law enforcement agencies coming to Minneapolis … they will be here to protect everyone, not to harm.”

– Anthony Davis stole the show and the New Orleans Pelicans stole home-court advantage from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Davis had 35 points Matt Slauson Jersey , 14 rebounds and four blocks, Jrue Holiday and Rajon Rondo won the backcourt battle, and the Pelicans held on for a 97-95 victory on Saturday night in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round series.

Holiday added 21 points, outplaying both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, and had a big blocked shot in the closing seconds as New Orleans escaped after Portland erased almost all of a 19-point deficit.

”It’s the playoffs,” Holiday said of his final block. ”A lot of excitement and a lot of energy especially in the building. Obviously, that was a really big stop and at that moment it felt good to get a stop. It felt good to know that all the hard work we put in this game, we got the win, so we did a really good job at that.”

Rondo finished with 17 assists, eight rebounds and six points.

Portland made a charge that cut it to 93-92 on McCollum’s 3-pointer just inside a minute left. Lillard missed in the lane with 15 seconds remaining with the Blazers still down one Jerry Hughes Jersey , and after Davis made two free throws, Holiday blocked Pat Connaughton’s layup with 6.3 seconds to go.

Blazers coach Terry Stotts and several players said that the play was designed for a 3-pointer, but the Pelicans successfully took those options away.

Perhaps that had something to do with Rondo knowing everything the Blazers were ready to throw at them and relaying that knowledge to his teammates.

”He’s in a different mindset,” Davis said. ”He was up all night watching film. When they were calling plays out there he was telling us what it was in our version before they had a chance to run it. He’s definitely locked in. The way he played tonight with 17 assists, he’s just in a different mode for the playoffs.”

Lillard finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while McCollum had 19 points.

The sixth-seeded Pelicans were the only road team to win on the opening day of the NBA playoffs. Nikola Mirotic had 16 points, 11 rebounds and also blocked four shots to help Davis earn the first victory of his playoff career.

It looked like it would come easily, as the Pelicans extended a nine-point halftime lead to 69-50 on Holiday’s dunk with 4:25 left in the third quarter. It still seemed safe when Davis threw down a thunderous alley-oop slam from Rondo with 6:09 to play, letting out a scream as Portland took an 86-72 lead.

Portland’s rally came up short Ray Nitschke Jersey , but the Blazers vow to do better in Game 2 with regards to going after Davis.

”Getting to the basket, he’s around,” McCollum said. ”You know, he blocked my shot in the first quarter, maybe made some contact. But he’s always there, he’s always around roaming. But there’s no excuses. We got to play better.”

Portland’s two stars finished with just three combined free-throw attempts. McCollum says it’s on them to force the issue.

”Maybe we need to be more aggressive getting downhill,” McCollum said. ”You’ve got to figure out how the referees are reffing the game and go from there.”

TIP-INS

Pelicans: New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry is a believer in ”Playoff Rondo,” the idea of Rondo elevating his game in the postseason. ”I think there is a sense of confidence that he has, especially this time of the year,” Gentry said. ”He’s a really bright player. One of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around. I’ve obviously had the opportunity to coach Steph (Curry) Sonny Jurgensen Jersey , Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Grant Hill. When you start talking about the extremely smart players, he’s one of those guys. I also think he has a way of giving confidence to the other guys. He makes them believe in themselves.”

Gentry says he relishes having someone who can lead the team in the way Rondo can. ”I know it’s like an old clich锟? but it really is like having an extra assistant coach.”

Trail Blazers: Among the challenges for the Blazers in this first-round series, none ranks higher than defending Davis. Terry Stotts said that he would begin the series with Jusuf Nurkic, who did not see much time on Davis in the regular season, on the All-Star big man.

Nurkic played 24 minutes, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks.

In a surprise, rookie Zach Collins played 22 minutes off the Blazers bench Randy Gregory Jersey , up from his regular- season average of 16 minutes per game.

Game 2 is Tuesday night in Portland.

The Panthers signed left tackle Matt Kalil as a free agent in 2017 and watched him get off to a slow start as he recovered from hip surgery while playing in a new offensive system.

Kalil has been healthy this offseason and a new offensive coordinator hasn’t forced him to do the same kind of learning because he’s played for Norv Turner in the past. With those two things off the table, coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers “expect him to improve and be better for us this year.”

Kalil seems to think he’ll fulfill that expectation.

“I think from Week 4 on I started playing better and better, and toward the end of the season I was playing where I want to be,” Kalil said, via the Charlotte Observer. “I think that carried over to [organized team activities] and to camp, and obviously I’m way ahead of the curve of where I started last year.”

The Panthers lost one starting offensive lineman in free agency when Andrew Norwell signed with Jacksonville and right tackle Daryl Williams went down with a knee injury early in camp, so a stronger season from Kalil would be a welcome development up front in Carolina.

Taking on the NFL and football’s Super Bowl champs Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Jersey , President Donald Trump gave the boot to a White House ceremony for the Philadelphia Eagles and instead threw his own brief ”Celebration of America” after it became clear most players weren’t going to show up.

Both sides traded hot accusations about who was to blame.

Trump tried to turn the fracas into a referendum on patriotism and tie it to the dispute over players who have taken a knee during the national anthem to protest racism and police brutality. However, Eagles players never knelt during the ”Star-Spangled Banner,” throughout the 2017 season and their march to the Super Bowl.

The White House accused Eagles team members of pulling a ”political stunt” and abandoning their fans by backing out at the last minute. Indeed, few apparently were going to come, though some expressed disappointment that they’d been disinvited and complained Trump was unfairly painting them as anti-American.

CLEVELAND (AP) – Stephen Curry and LeBron James spoke their minds last year. They have not changed their minds this year.

No matter whose team wins the NBA championship, neither superstar will be at the White House anytime soon.

On the day when the Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to be there to commemorate winning the Super Bowl – a visit that was canceled by President Donald Trump – Curry and James were among those speaking out at the NBA Finals in support of the Eagles.

GYMNASTICS

WASHINGTON (AP) – The former president of USA Gymnastics refused to answer questions from a Senate subcommittee about how he handled allegations of sexual abuse by former team doctor Larry Nassar, and another former executive sat next to him and asserted that her former boss instructed her and others to keep quiet about athletes’ claims.

Rhonda Faehn Colt McCoy Jersey , the former senior vice president of USA Gymnastics, said she first reported an allegation against Nassar to Steve Penny, her then-boss, on June 17, 2015. Nassar was not arrested until more than a year later. He is now serving decades in prison for sexual assault and possession of child pornography, and hundreds of athletes have said they were abused by him, including Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman Kenny Clark Jersey , McKayla Maroney and Simone Biles.

The revelations about Nassar’s conduct over two decades and the way it was handled by Penny and others have led Congress to call for drastic reforms of the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics and other sports’ governing bodies.

Faehn said Penny warned her and others not to discuss the allegations against Nassar and that she wrongly assumed he had taken the allegations to law enforcement.

NEW YORK (AP) – Lou Lamoriello moved quickly to shake up the New York Islanders by firing coach Doug Weight and general manager Garth Snow and naming himself the team’s new GM just two weeks after taking over as president of hockey operations.

Lamoriello made the moves that begin to reshape the organization in his image, two weeks to the day ownership said he’d have ”full authority over all hockey matters.” Lamoriello left the Toronto Maple Leafs to run the Islanders and will begin the search for a new coach immediately.

The end of Snow’s tenure seemed inevitable after owners Jon Ledecky and Scott Malkin brought in Lamoriello to oversee the hockey operations department. The Islanders missed the playoffs eight times in Snow’s 12 years as general manager, including the past two seasons.

Weight, who took over for the fired Jack Capuano in January 2017, just finished his first full season as head coach.

HORSE RACING

NEW YORK (AP) – Something Bob Baffert always dreads has come true ahead of the Belmont Stakes: Justify drew the No. 1 post for the colt’s bid to sweep the Triple Crown.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner was made the early 4-5 favorite in the 10-horse field for Saturday’s race.

Baffert is not a fan of the inside post for his horses, no matter what the race.

History http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/micah-hyde-jersey , however, may be on Justify’s side. Since 1905, a leading 23 horses have won from the No. 1 post. The last to win from there was Empire Maker in 2003 when he spoiled Funny Cide’s Triple Crown bid.

Justify won the first two legs of the series from the No. 7 post. He ran on sloppy tracks both times and the forecast for Saturday calls for a 60 percent chance of rain.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Pitcher Meghan King settled down after a rough start to complete a record-setting Women’s College World Series, and Florida State beat Washington 8-3 to claim its first national title.

The Seminoles (58-12) won the best-of-three championship series 2-0. They lost their opener before winning six straight to become just the third team to come through the losers’ bracket and take the title.

King broke a World Series record for lowest ERA among pitchers who threw at least 10 innings with a mark of 0.20. She earned four wins and a save in Oklahoma City while allowing just one earned run in 34 1/3 innings.

King was on such a run that Florida State’s ace throughout the season, Kylee Hanson, never had to pitch in the championship series.

Florida State’s Jessie Warren, who hit .520 in the World Series Peyton Manning Jersey , was named most outstanding player. She went 3 for 4 with a homer on Tuesday.

TENNIS

PARIS (AP) – Novak Djokovic’s neck was bothering him. Then his right leg was.

The way he faltered at the most crucial of moments in the French Open quarterfinals might have hurt him the most against an opponent who never won a Grand Slam match until last week and The Jacksonville Jaguars are releasing receiver Allen Hurns and saving $7 million in 2018.

Hurns will be a free agent and able to sign with any team that wants him.

His future had been in doubt for months, since Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole emerged late last season. Hurns really became expendable when the Jaguars signed two receivers last week, bringing back Marqise Lee and adding Donte Moncrief in free agency.

Hurns would have been behind Lee and Moncrief on the depth chart, and Jacksonville felt his salary was too high for a backup who has missed 11 games the last two seasons.

Hurns has 189 receptions for 2,669 yards and 21 touchdowns in four years since signing with the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie from Miami. But he caught just 74 passes for 961 yards and five scores the last two years while dealing with a sports hernia in 2016 and a high ankle sprain in 2017.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2018 season with new backup quarterbacks.

The Seahawks acquired quarterback Brett Hundley from the Packers on Wednesday for an undisclosed draft pick.

Green Bay announced the trade late in the day Marcus Martin Jersey , completing the deal on the cusp of the preseason finales for all teams.

The addition of Hundley gives Seattle a proven backup behind Russell Wilson. The Seahawks are reportedly sending a late-round draft pick to Green Bay and coach Pete Carroll said it was another opportunity to improve the Seahawks roster.

“It his fourth year now, he’s played quite a bit and started a bunch of games last year,” Carroll said. “We’ve been able to see him and really see how he has developed, and we liked him coming out of college as well. He’s big, he runs well, he’s got a good arm, he’s got good vision on the field, he’s made a lot of big throws and big plays. He really gives you the thought that he could come in the game and keep it moving. So we just thought it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

Hundley stepped into a starting role last season for the Packers when Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone. Hundley started nine games and the Packers went 3-6. He threw for 1,836 yards and nine touchdowns, but also threw 12 interceptions.

His acquisition likely means the end of Austin Davis’ stint as Wilson’s backup in Seattle. Davis has been with the Seahawks since the start of the 2017 season.

In Green Bay http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/malik-hooker-jersey , the deal means that DeShone Kizer has won the backup job behind Rodgers. The former second-round pick started 15 games for the winless Cleveland Browns last season as a rookie and was acquired by the Packers in the offseason.

Seattle’s backup quarterback situation has been tenuous for several seasons ever since Tarvaris Jackson was not re-signed after the 2015 season. Wilson played through significant injuries in 2016 with Trevone Boykin only being used in brief moments and last season Wilson took every offensive snap with Seattle avoiding having to use Davis as a replacement.

But Davis has been inconsistent this preseason and rookie seventh-round draft pick Alex McGough has shown enough promise to be a development option as a backup for the future. That still left Seattle in a shaky spot not wanting to use a rookie should something happen to Wilson and why the trade for Hundley makes sense.

Hundley started nine of 11 games last season when Rodgers was injured. His best game came in Week 13 when he threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Cleveland. But Hundley also had games where he struggled, twice failing to pass for more than 100 yards in losses to New Orleans and Tampa Bay.

Hundley is also entering the final year of his rookie contract and will be a free agent after the season.

The deal could also clear the way for the Packers to keep promising undrafted free agent Tim Boyle as a third quarterback.

“I think I’ve progressed pretty fast. It’s a pretty hard offense. I take pride in the fact that I’m learning every day. Obviously, having (Rodgers) in front of you helps you out a lot,” Boyle said Tuesday. “But it’s a business and I understand that, so whatever happens, happens.”

It’s been quite a day for the Raiders, with a certain trade being the top story for the silver and black. Here are the moves they made to get to 53 on the roster.

Waived are receiver Marcell Ateman, tight end Marcus Baugh, receiver Saeed Blacknall, tight end Pharaoh Brown Geron Christian Jersey , receiver Martavis Bryant, running back James Butler, tight end Paul Butler, linebacker Jason Cabinda, cornerback Jarell Carter, quarterback Connor Cook, linebacker James Cowser, cornerback Antwuan Davis, defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/patrick-dimarco-jersey , defensive tackle Connor Flagel, cornerback Antonio Hamilton, guard Cameron Hunt, offensive lineman Denver Kirkland, safety Dallin Leavitt, safety Quincy Mauger, cornerback Raysean Pringle, guard Jordan Simmons, defensive lineman Shakir Soto, linebacker Azeem Victor Danny Trevathan Jersey , tackle Jylan Ware, receiver Isaac Whitney, defensive tackle Gabe Wright, and tackle Ryan Yurachek.

The following veterans were released: offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, center James Stone, and cornerback Shareece Wright.

Cornerback Dexter McDonald was waived/injured. Two players were placed on injured reserve: kicker Eddy Pineiro and running back Chris Warren III. Defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes will move to reserve/PUP.

KANSAS CITY Adam Shaheen Jersey , Mo. — The opener of the Boston Red Sox’s three-game series with the Kansas City Royals on Friday night went as anticipated on paper.

The Red Sox jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and Chris Sale dominated the Royals, striking out 12 in six innings. The Royals scored four meaningless runs the final three innings against the Red Sox bullpen in a 10-5 loss.

The Red Sox and Royals will meet again Saturday night and Boston will again be heavily favored.

Boston (60-29) leads the majors with 60 victories and has a major league-best .674 winning percentage. The Red Sox are 31 games above .500 for the first time since concluding the 2013 season at 97-65.

Their 60 wins are the fourth most after 89 games in the 118-year franchise history. The only teams with more wins after 89 games were the 1946 Red Sox at 63-26 and the 1912 and 1978 clubs at 61-28.

Boston is 5-2 on its nine-game, 10-day trip to New York, Washington and Kansas City. It is 32-17 away from Fenway Park.

The Red Sox are 3-1 against the Royals this season. The Royals went 8-4 against the Red Sox in the previous two seasons, Boston’s worst record against any opponent during that span.

Left-hander David Price will start for the Red Sox on Saturday. He is 9-6 with a 4.28 ERA in his first 17 starts.

Price is coming off a poor start on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, allowing eight runs and nine hits across 3 1/3 innings.

Before that Kemoko Turay Jersey , Price had been magnificent in his previous nine starts, posting a 7-1 record with a 2.72 ERA. He allowed 17 earned runs in 56 1/3 innings during a span from May 12 through June 26. He allowed no more than three earned runs in any of those starts.

Price is unbeaten in seven career starts and one bullpen appearance against the Royals. He is 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA against Kansas City, giving up 12 earned runs in 50 2/3 innings.

The Red Sox’s dynamic duo of Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez are tough on any pitching staff and that was the case again Friday.

Betts led off the game with a home run, the 100th of his career. He joins Tony Conigliaro, Jim Rice and Ted Williams as the only Red Sox players with 100 home runs before their 26th birthday.

Betts is batting .369 (41-for-111) with nine home runs and 19 RBIs in 26 career games against the Royals. His batting average is the best for any opposing hitter with a minimum of 100 at-bats against Kansas City.

Martinez hit a two-run shot in the second inning and leads the majors with 27 home runs. Only Carl Yastrzemski, 29 in 1969 Marvin Harrison Jersey , and David Ortiz, 31 in 2006, had more homers before the All-Star break. Martinez leads the American League with 73 RBIs.

The Royals will send rookie right-hander Brad Keller (2-3, 2.09 ERA) to the mound as they attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Keller, a Rule Five pick from the Arizona Diamondbacks, threw an eight-inning J'Marcus Webb Jersey , complete-game six-hitter at Seattle in his previous start, only to lose 1-0 to the Mariners.

He is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 13 appearances at Kauffman Stadium. He has a 2.25 ERA in three home starts.

Keller made two relief appearances in May at Boston. He got the final two outs of the seventh inning withoutout giving up any runs in a 5-4, 11-inning victory on May 1 and the next day threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Former Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew has been arrested and accused of punching a police officer.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Pettigrew had a confrontation with a limousine driver when he refused to pay the $97 fare at 3 a.m. today. The driver called police, who found Pettigrew visibly intoxicated. When they asked him his name, he refused to give it, argued with officers and then punched an officer three times in the chest Kyle Fuller Jersey , according to the report.

Pettigrew was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, theft of services and public drunkenness.

The Lions chose Pettigrew in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft. He played his entire career in Detroit, with his last game coming when he suffered a torn ACL midway through the 2015 season. Although he hasn’t officially announced his retirement, he is presumed to be done playing. Pettigrew was previously arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in 2017.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed offensive tackle Brian O’Neill Adam Vinatieri Jersey , their second-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh.

The four-year deal was done Friday, before Vikings rookie minicamp began. They have three of their eight draft picks left unsigned: first-round cornerback Mike Hughes, fourth-round defensive end Jalyn Holmes, and fifth-round tight end Tyler Conklin.

O’Neill was the 62nd overall selection, a 6-foot-6, 305-pound converted tight end. He played in all 38 games over the last three seasons for the Panthers, forgoing his final year of eligibility to enter the draft. The Vikings lauded his athleticism but stressed the need for him to add strength. O’Neill is likely headed for a backup role this season behind starting tackles Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers.

No debate that the most important position in the NFL is quarterback. But in fantasy, there may be as much depth at the position as there ever has been.

Sure, we’d all like Green Bay superstar Aaron Rodgers to start for our teams, but that privilege may not be worth a third- or fourth-round pick in most leagues.

Unless you’re in a league in which you can start more than one QB (superflex/2 QB leagues) or one that awards 6 points for a touchdown pass, do not take a QB until the eighth round at the earliest.

This isn’t to say that you should completely pass on players like Rodgers or New England’s Tom Brady. If Rodgers falls to the fifth round or later, the value would be too good. But generally Aaron Lynch Jersey , load up on as many running backs and wide receivers as possible.

The depth at QB means you can get a player like Philip Rivers (Chargers), Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh) or Andrew Luck (Indianapolis) later in your draft. They each have warts but it’s better to have depth at RB or WR in the middle rounds rather than take a QB that may not outscore someone you can draft several rounds later by anything more than a few points per week.

History tells us that there will be several top QBs that will outscore others at that position by a significant amount, but the passers ranked No. 4 to No. 13 will be separated by about 4 fantasy points per week. That just isn’t enough of a difference to justify passing on a third running back or receiver.

A question that every fantasy owner should ask when thinking about drafting a top-level QB is whether the team will look better with that QB and a running back like Marlon Mack, or with a receiver like Golden Tate and Luck. Take the second option every time.

When it comes to quarterbacks and other positions, fantasy analysts place players in tiers. Rodgers is in a tier all by himself. He is the best fantasy QB today and it may not be all that close. Don’t be worried about the broken collarbone from last season. Rodgers has the arm strength to throw every pass required and although he won’t run as much as Carolina’s Cam Newton or Seattle’s Russell Wilson, he still has the ability to escape the pocket to gain yardage on the ground or more importantly, buy time for one of his receivers to get open.

The next tier has a few more options: Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz, Houston’s Deshaun Watson, Newton, Wilson and Brady. Any one of them can start for your fantasy team but they aren’t perfect by any means.

Newton had accuracy problems throughout his career and they aren’t likely to improve much this season. Still, his ability to scramble for yardage and TDs make him valuable. Wentz may or may not be ready for Week 1. If you draft Wentz, you may feel the need to select Nick Foles later as insurance. While no one can truly blame you for doing so Josh Sitton Jersey , it’s a waste of a valuable bench slot. Watson is also coming off a torn ACL and one has to wonder if he will be able to move around as well as he did last season, and let’s also not forget that he only has a handful of starts under his belt. You may love Wilson for what he did last year, but now that Doug Baldwin (knee) could miss the entire preseason and Jimmy Graham left via free agency, there just isn’t much left for him to throw to. Brady may be the greatest real-life QB of all time, but the team lost Nate Solder and Brandin Cooks and Julian Edelman is suspended for four games. Throw in that rookie running back Sony Michel will undergo knee surgery and maybe this won’t be his year.

After those top QBs are gone, wait another round or two and just take whoever’s left. Drew Brees (New Orleans), Kirk Cousins (Minnesota), Matthew Stafford (Detroit), Roethlisberger, Rivers, and Luck round out the next tier. Brees is not the QB he once was. The Saints have one of the best ground attacks in the game and a legitimate defense. They don’t need Brees to put the ball in the air 40-plus times a game anymore. Cousins has solid weapons around him and a strong defense. Now that he finally has the big contract he may finally relax and put up big numbers. Stafford is about as consistent as they come and is a safe play. Yeah, starting Roethlisberger on the road can be an issue as his splits are awful but perhaps a change in coordinators eliminates that problem. Rivers is sort of a forgotten man but like Stafford http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/alex-smith-jersey , also very consistent and won’t cost you much. Luck’s price is only going to get higher as fantasy owners start to believe in his health.

The position is so deep that even if you don’t end up with one of the top 12, you still have the likes of Matt Ryan (Atlanta), Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco), Alex Smith (Washington) and Marcus Mariota (Tennessee) available.

That gives you the wiggle room to wait while filling other positions early.

The Chicago Blackhawks are taking a closer look at their house after missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

They aren’t sure just yet if a complete teardown is necessary.

The Blackhawks are heading into one of their most intriguing summers in years after finishing with 33 wins and 76 points http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/deshazor-everett-jersey , their lowest totals since they went 31-42-9 during the 2006-07 season. While they might not make any big changes, improvement next year is mandatory, general manager Stan Bowman said Monday.

”This year was extremely disappointing,” Bowman said. ”Last year was more abrupt, but this was equally disappointing. I’m not happy with where we are. We’re going to examine everything, look long and hard at ways to improve through personnel.”

The Blackhawks have been on a downward trend since winning the 2015 Stanley Cup. They were eliminated by St. Louis in seven games in the first round of the 2016 playoffs, and then were swept by Nashville in the opening round last year.

They stumbled all the way to last in the Central Division this season, falling short of the playoffs for the first time since star forwards Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were rookies during the 2007-08 season.

Bowman said the team’s top priority is keeping the young players who impressed this season. Rookie Alex DeBrincat had a team-high 28 goals, one more than Kane Jerrell Freeman Jersey , and Vinnie Hinostroza showed flashes of promise after beginning the year in the minors.

”That’s the direction we’re headed,” Bowman said. ”They’ve showed they’re part of the future.”

His second priority is free agency, and Bowman said he’s more interested in short-term deals than longer pacts that would tie his hands in the future.

He could look for goaltender help after Corey Crawford missed the final 47 games with an upper-body injury. He also could focus on his blue line after top defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook showed signs of age this season.

”This was an off year in about every category,” coach Joel Quenneville said. ”From every individual except two or three, we expect more next year.”

Both Bowman and Quenneville expressed confidence in a healthy return for Crawford, who went 16-9-2 with a sparkling 2.27 goals-against average in 28 games. Anton Forsberg, Jean-Francois Berube and Jeff Glass all struggled in goal after Crawford got hurt.

”He’s on the right track, close to being ready to go,” Quenneville said.

Toews http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/quincy-wilson-jersey , who missed the last eight games with an upper-body injury, said previous successes ”happened naturally, organically. Now there’s a lot of issues you need to find solutions. We need to take a creative approach to finding solutions. It’s humbling to a certain degree. You feel like you’re starting over.”

LOTTERY FEVER

The NHL draft lottery is April 28, and Chicago has a 6.5 percent chance of winning the top pick. The Blackhawks drafted Toews with the third overall pick in 2006 and got Kane with the No. 1 selection in 2007, fueling their run to three Stanley Cup titles.

TIPPING POINT

Crawford’s injury just before Christmas turned the season around. They were in a playoff position on Dec. 23, his last appearance, and fell out of contention soon after he was placed on injured reserve.

WRONG NUMBERS

The Blackhawks allowed 256 goals, 67 more than they gave up during the 2014-15 season. Keith, a two-time Norris Trophy winner as the league’s top defenseman Ibraheim Campbell Jersey , finished with a career-worst minus-29 rating, the worst such number on the team.

GOODBYE

One of the most memorable moments of the season was Patrick Sharp’s final game at the United Center. The 36-year-old Sharp is planning to retire after finishing with 10 goals and 11 assists in his 15th NHL season. The team honored Sharp with a highlight video in the third period of its home finale, and he waved his stick and tapped his heart to acknowledge the sustained roar of the crowd.

NEXT UP

Defenseman Henri Jokiharju could get a long look during training camp in the fall. He was selected by the Blackhawks in the first round of last year’s draft, but he doesn’t turn 19 until June.

CAPTAIN AMERICA

Kane has decided to keep playing. USA Hockey announced Monday that Kane will captain the U.S. team for the world championship in May in Denmark.

Broncos defensive tackle Clinton McDonald expects to begin training camp on time with his teammates, Mike Kliss of Denver’s 9News reports.

“I’m good to go,” McDonald said.

McDonald missed the offseason program with a bacterial infection stemming for a 2015 shoulder surgery. He underwent a procedure in New York to drain the infection, per Kliss, and Dr. David Altcheck has cleared McDonald.

McDonald will undergo a physical this week.

He signed as a free agent after making five sacks last season with the Bucs, but because he didn’t pass a physical before the mandatory minicamp last month http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/jordan-howard-jersey , McDonald had to restructure his contract so that the $4 million no longer is guaranteed.

The Broncos may have to place only one player, receiver Jordan Taylor, on the physically unable to perform list to start camp, per Kliss. The Broncos’ medical staff still is discussing options for Shane Ray.

>There aren’t as many players who can really still be considered daily fantasy sleepers at the end of the NFL season. Still http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/markus-wheaton-jersey , there are plenty of Week 15 values that you might be hesitant to use, leading to a contrarian lineup and some nice returns.AARON RODGERS, QB, Green Bay ($6,800 DraftKings/$8,500 FanDuel)This may be your only chance to get a discount on Rodgers (more so on DraftKings). If the Packers are ready for Rodgers to play, you should be, too. Rodgers was having another terrific season before his injury, putting up scores of 30-plus in three straight games, including 10 touchdowns in that stretch. The Packers have worked hard to succeed without him and playing with Rodgers will only make those around him, like Jordy Nelson, better or fantasy relevant again. Rodgers has one of the highest ceilings in Week 15, especially against a Panthers secondary that’s started to slump.NICK FOLES, QB, Philadelphia ($5,500/$6,000)Foles has been here before http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/davante-adams-jersey , and the 27-2 touchdown to interception ratio season is an example of his upside. We’re not asking Foles to play that well again, and this is a different offense, but he has some great weapons and a great matchup. The Giants just let Dak Prescott have the best passing game of his career and are now averaging the most quarterback fantasy points per game allowed.LATAVIUS MURRAY, RB, Minnesota ($4,900/$6,200)Jordan Howard just obliterated the Bengals defense. With players dropping each week, the Bengals defense has little to nothing left. Murray is the lead option for the Vikings and the top goal-line option, which means he should see 15-20 carries and a few scoring opportunities. Minnesota could even lean on Murray more with Kyle Rudolph looking doubtful and Case Keenum looking to rebound from a mediocre game. Murray won’t replicate Howard’s performance completely, but he might come close as the Vikings continue the playoff push.KENYAN DRAKE, RB, Miami ($5,800/$6,500)Even if Damien Williams returns, Drake is clearly the superior option as he’s put up 20-plus points each of the past two weeks. There could be snow in Buffalo again this week, which means a heavy run approach for both teams. If Drake even nears 20 touches with the way he’s playing and the state of the Bills defense (which let Frank Gore run all over them last week), he could put up his third straight 20-point game.DEDE WESTBROOK Chris Thompson Jersey , WR, Jacksonville ($5,100/$5,700)Marqise Lee has been the Jaguars’ top option this year and has provided nice value so far. However, Westbrook has emerged of late, outscoring Lee over the past three games and putting himself in contention for being considered the new No. 1. On top of that, no team allows more big plays to receivers than the Texans.JAMISON CROWDER, WR, Washington ($5,600/$6,800)Yes, Kirk Cousins and the Redskins struggled against the Chargers, but that Chargers defense is playing at an elite level of late. Outside of Patrick Peterson, the Cardinals defense has been weak against the pass. Second and third receivers, especially talented slot options, have dominated the Cardinals this year. Look for the Redskins and Cousins to bounce back in Week 15. With Peterson focused on Josh Doctson, Crowder will have the potential for a strong performance.RICKY SEALS-JONES http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/johnthan-banks-jersey , TE, ARI ($3,000/$5,300)The Redskins gave up 50 yards and a touchdown to Hunter Henry last week. Washington has allowed a tight end touchdown in five of its last six games. Ricky Seals-Jones is still a favorite of Blaine Gabbert.ZACH ERTZ, TE, Philadelphia ($6,000/$7,900)Like Foles, Ertz is a contrarian play given the situation. Unlike Foles, the price is tougher to swallow but the Giants are still the worst team at defending the tight end. Ertz has regularly put up big games against the Giants, and he’s one of the few players with a connection to Foles when he used to start for the Eagles. With Ertz back from a concussion, he’s in the discussion with Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce as one of the elite options. This column was provided to The Associated Press by the Fantasy Sports Network,
The Steelers aren’t going to see Le'Veon Bell until Week 1 unless the running back gets a long-term deal, but Bell said on Instagram Live that he is not sitting out the season.

Instead, Bell said he will follow what he did last year, skipping training camp before signing the franchise tag tender the week of the season opener.

鈥淗onestly, no http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/d.j.-swearinger-jersey , I’m not going to sit out,鈥?Bell said in the chat, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. 鈥淚’m going to be in the facility Week 1. It’s going to be a rerun of last year. I’m not going to camp. I’m not doing nothing else extra, OTAs, none of that.

Jordan Zimmermann looked like a $110 million pitcher in his last start. The Detroit Tigers hope the oft-injured Zimmermann can produce like that on a regular basis.

Zimmermann Jeremy Kerley Jersey , who will start for the Tigers against the Texas Rangers on Friday in Detroit, has been a huge disappointment since signing a five-year, $110 million free-agent contract in November 2015. His first two seasons with the club were marred by injuries and ineffectiveness.

He took another trip to the disabled list in May because of a shoulder impingement. He has made three starts since his return and was sharp at Toronto on Sunday, holding the Blue Jays to one run on five hits in seven innings. He didn’t issue a walk while striking out six.

His curveball and slider neutralized Toronto’s lineup as the Tigers ended an 11-game losing streak.

“My off-speed stuff was really good (Sunday),” Zimmermann said afterward. “I think the slider’s coming back.”

If Zimmermann (3-0, 3.91 ERA) can string together some quality outings, he could help the Tigers on two fronts. He could provide stability to a rotation that hasn’t gone deep into games often enough. He could also enhance his trade value, which would provide financial relief to a rebuilding franchise.

He lost his only career start against the Rangers despite holding them to three runs in eight innings in 2016.

Detroit’s roster has been in a state of flux since losing first baseman Miguel Cabrera to a season-ending biceps injury last month. Center fielder Leonys Martin and closer Shane Greene are on the disabled list, and Opening Day second baseman Dixon Machado has been designated for assignment.

Niko Goodrum, who has taken over second base, hit a solo homer Thursday but Texas took the opener of the series 7-5. The Tigers have lost 14 of their last 16 games.

Zimmermann, 32, is 13 years younger than his mound opponent in the second game of the four-game series. Bartolo Colon (5-5, 4.76) will make his 16th start this season for Texas.

Colon lasted just long enough to collect the victory in his last appearance Dave Robinson Jersey , when he gave up three runs in five innings to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.

With another victory Friday, he will surpass Dennis Martinez for the most wins by a Latin American pitcher. They are tied at 245.

“Tying Dennis Martinez, it’s such an accomplishment,” Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre told MLB.com after Colon’s last outing. “It takes him a long time, 45 years, but it’s nice that he was able to get that, and hopefully he can break it in his next start.”

Colon is 9-10 with a 5.20 ERA in 29 career appearances (28 starts) against Detroit.

Texas designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo did not play in the series opener, so his on-base streak remains at 44 games. He is dealing with tightness in his right quadriceps.

“I don’t want to push it,” Choo told the Dallas Morning News. “Do this until the All-Star break, and the rest will help.”

Joey Gallo and Ronald Guzman picked up the slack Thursday, delivering two-run homers as the Rangers built a seven-run lead and held off Detroit’s late surge.

France is back in the World Cup final for the first time since Zinedine Zidane’s headbutt in 2006.

TENNIS

LONDON (AP) – Serena Williams came up with a comeback to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon, then walked off Centre Court with her right index finger aloft.

Williams moved closer to her eighth title at the All England Club and 24th Grand Slam trophy overall – but first since missing more than a year while having a baby – by beating 52nd-ranked Camila Giorgi of Italy 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Next up for the 36-year-old American is a match against No. 13 seed Julia Goerges of Germany, a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 winner against No. 20 Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands.

The other semifinal Thursday will be No. 11 seed Angelique Kerber of Germany vs. No. 12 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia. Kerber needed seven match points to close out No. 14 Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-3, 7-5 at Centre Court, while Ostapenko defeated 2014 Australian Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 7-5, 6-4 on a windy No. 1 Court.

In the last men’s quarterfinal, which was suspended because of darkness after the third set Monday night, 2009 U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro defeated Gilles Simon of France 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5) Russ Grimm Jersey , 5-7, 7-6 (5).

NBA

LAS VEGAS (AP) – NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is certain that changes are coming to the league.

Some are easy, others, not so much.

Speaking after the NBA’s Board of Governors meeting, Silver said he thinks the league is ready to scrap the rule requiring players to be out of high school for a year before becoming eligible to enter the draft. That one should be relatively simple to move forward now, while notions such as how to find more competitive balance are still a puzzler to the league and its commissioner.

Silver said he loves `where the league is right now,’ but believe there cold be a better system. Part of that, he thinks, will be reverting back to the policy that will allow players to go into the league right out of high school – something that should be in place in time for the 2021 NBA Draft, though that timeline has not been formally announced.

Any change to the rule will require that the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement will have to be amended.

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Michele Roberts was unanimously re-elected to another four-year term as executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.

Roberts first moved into the role in 2014, about two years before the players and the league agreed on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The extension means that Roberts will almost certainly be deeply involved in negotiating whatever the next CBA will look like.

The union was without an executive director for more than a year before Roberts got the job, and she said overcoming the skepticism of players – who were reeling after the way Billy Hunter’s term as director came to a turbulent end – was critical to her success.

Her second term will end in 2022, when both the players and the league can decide to opt out of the current CBA. She said the union is already preparing for what the next CBA will look like.

NFL

NEW YORK (AP) – The NFL Players Association filed a grievance with the league challenging its national anthem policy.

The union says that the new policy, which the league imposed without consultation with the NFLPA Zach Miller Jersey , is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement and infringes on players’ rights. The filing met a statute of limitations deadline and will be heard by an independent arbitrator, an NFLPA spokesman said.

In May, the NFL approved its national anthem policy at its owners meetings in Atlanta. The policy allows players to protest during the national anthem by staying in the locker room, but forbids them from sitting or taking a knee if they’re on the field or the sidelines. Teams will be subject to fines if players don’t comply and will have the option of punishing players.

When the league announced the policy, Commissioner Roger Goodell called it a compromise aimed at putting the focus back on football after a tumultuous year in which television ratings dipped nearly 10 percent; some blamed the protests for such a drop. The union said at that time that it would file a grievance against any change in the collective bargaining agreement.

James Neal has become a source of leadership and inspiration for the Vegas Golden Knights during their improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final.

So http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/mitchell-trubisky-jersey , it came as no surprise that the 11-year veteran made a point of seeking out teammate Alex Tuch, a 22-year-old rookie who missed a chance to score the potential tying goal late in Game 2 against the Washington Capitals

”I talked with him a little bit today,” Neal said Friday. ”It’s all good. He’ll get a bigger one for us later in the series. He’s been great for us so far, so no reason to think about that anymore. At the end of the day, it’s a great save and you move forward.”

Braden Holby snuffed the shot with his goalie stick in a 3-2 victory that evened the series heading in Game 3 on Saturday night.

Vegas snagged a winner when they selected Neal from Nashville last June in the expansion draft. They got a skilled forward who scored 20 goals in 10 straight seasons (now 11) and a player who turned out to be perfect for a team that had to mesh immediately to be successful.

”He’s a natural leader,” Golden Knights right wing Ryan Reaves said. ”He likes leading the boys into battle. When he has something to say he’s going to say it, and people are going to listen.”

Neal reached the Stanley Cup Final last year with the Predators, who lost to Pittsburgh. Now here he is again, with another crack at winning it all.

”It’s a special team and a special group of guys,” Neal said. ”I’ve been to the finals before, so just try to give them little tips. I try to lead by example Kyle Fuller Jersey , do the right things on the ice. We’ve got a group that responds well.”

Neal seriously wants to win, but he isn’t always serious. And that’s the way his teammates like it.

”I’m not going to pump his tires too much because I don’t want to hear about it, but he’s definitely one of those guys that keeps it loose,” Reaves said. ”You need guys like that around the team. You can’t be 100 percent business-like all the time. You’ve got to have fun.”

Vegas goaltender Marc Andre-Fleury is the only other player on the club who’s played in the Stanley Cup Final, so he and Neal have been taking turns doling out advice.

”In the locker room he’s a big voice,” Fleury said of Neal. ”He’s been to the finals, so it’s good to have someone else who can share that experience.”

Although Neal is a rarity in that he’s been to consecutive Stanley Cup Finals with two different teams, his most emphatic message is: Don’t take this ride for granted.

”You see how badly he wants to win,” left wing David Perron said. ”To go through that last year and not come out on top, he’s got a huge chip on his shoulder and really wants to get it this time. He’s talking to guys, telling them you never know if you’re going to get another opportunity Rafael Bush Jersey , so you’ve got to find a way to bring your best.”

Toward that end, the 30-year-old Neal has helped carry the team with his stick. He has five goals and five assists in 17 games during the playoffs, including Vegas’ first goal in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Asked whether Neal is more valuable as a player or a leader, Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant replied, ”On the ice is the major thing for me. When he scores goals like he did the last game, he makes our job a lot easier as coaches. James has been outstanding for us. He definitely helps our room with the young players, for sure.”

Most notably, Tuch.

”He’s been a mentor to me. He brought me aside today and told me what I could have done better on that shot but also that I have to move on,” Tuch said. ”Everyone knows how good a hockey player he is. I don’t know if people knew he was that much of a leader. Maybe it was a different vibe in Nashville. But this year he’s been a huge leader for us, one of our (six alternate) captains, and it’s been great.”

More Stanley Cup coverage: The Philadelphia Eagles went from playoff spectators to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy DeShone Kizer Jersey , an impressive one-season turnaround that was far from unprecedented in the modern NFL.

The Eagles were the seventh team in the past 19 seasons to pull off that trick in a sport that always goes through some significant playoff turnover each season.

There have been at least four new playoff teams each year since the NFL went to the 12-team format in 1990, including eight new postseason participants last season when the Eagles won it all.

With new blood coming into the playoffs each year, there are just as many teams heading another way, doomed by injuries, age, bad luck, poor coaching or other reasons.

Here’s a look at three teams that could go from playoff spectators to participants, and three others that could go the opposite direction:

TRENDING UP

Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson showed flashes of becoming a star quarterback in six starts as a rookie before getting hurt. With the dynamic Watson on offense and a healthy J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus back on defense, the Texans could be in position to get back into the playoffs after a one-year hiatus. The Texans scored at least 33 points in Watson’s final five starts and then went 1-8 after he had a season-ending injury in practice. Keeping Watson healthy will be necessary it the Texans are going to rebound.

Green Bay Packers: Green Bay’s run of eight straight playoff appearances ended last season thanks mostly to a collarbone injury that limited star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to seven games. With Rodgers again healthy, the Packers should be among the contenders in the NFC, as they usually are. Green Bay was much more active this offseason under new GM Brian Gutekunst Tramon Williams Jersey , adding prominent free agents like Jimmy Graham and Muhammad Wilkerson. New defensive coordinator Mike Pettine should bring a more aggressive approach that could help support Rodgers and the offense.

San Francisco 49ers: San Francisco won its final five games last year after making the switch to Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback. With Garoppolo signed long term and poised to take his 7-0 career record into his first full season as an NFL starter and coach Kyle Shanahan having much more talent in Year 2 at the helm, the Niners could have the pieces to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Free-agent running back Jerick McKinnon should spark the offense, and the defense has some key building blocks in DT DeForest Buckner and LB Reuben Foster. Richard Sherman could provide a defensive boost at cornerback if his Achilles tendon injury is healed.

TRENDING DOWN

Buffalo Bills: The Bills ended the longest playoff drought in North America’s four major sports leagues when they made the postseason for the first time since 1999. Repeating that in coach Sean McDermott’s second season will be a more difficult trick, especially with the change made at quarterback this offseason. Tyrod Taylor was traded to Cleveland, leaving either career backup A.J. McCarron or raw rookie Josh Allen as the top two options. Making the playoffs with one of those two at the helm would be a long shot, even in the weaker AFC.

Tennessee Titans: The Titans also ended a playoff drought last season, making the postseason for the first time since 2008 under third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota and coach Mike Mularkey. Even winning a postseason game wasn’t enough for Mularkey to keep his job and Tennessee is now retooling under new coach Mike Vrabel. The Titans are in a tough division with Houston and Indianapolis likely taking big steps forward if Watson and Andrew Luck are healthy, and Jacksonville having one of the league’s most talented rosters. That makes a return to the postseason a difficult proposition in Tennessee.

Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons took a step back last year after their Super Bowl collapse the previous season but still made the playoffs as a wild-card team. The offense regressed a bit after losing Shanahan as coordinator. There still is plenty of talent in Atlanta led by quarterback Matt Ryan and receiver Julio Jones, but the NFC is stacked, leaving little margin for error.

Former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. has been charged with raping an unconscious teenager 15 years ago.

Authorities say the 17-year-old girl was assaulted in 2003 in San Diego County.

Other details haven’t been released. Winslow hasn’t entered a plea yet.

The charge was added Thursday as Winslow was ordered to stand trial on charges of kidnapping and raping two women earlier this year in Encinitas http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/quincy-wilson-jersey , California. The women were in their 50s.

Prosecutors say the attacks were part of a three-month crime spree targeting middle-aged and elderly women.

Winslow has pleaded not guilty to those charges. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Winslow is the son of Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow. From 2004 to 2013, he played for Cleveland, Tampa Bay, New England and the New York Jets.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Throughout its offseason team activities, the Seattle Seahawks appeared to be settled at safety. Bradley McDougald would just continue his role from a year ago stepping in as a full-time starter alongside Earl Thomas.

That was before Thomas decided to take his demands for a new contract to the extreme by holding out http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/demarcus-ware-jersey , creating an unexpected competition and a bit of chaos in Seattle’s defensive backfield.

With Thomas missing, Seattle’s safeties are a revolving door of combinations trying to find the pairing that makes the most sense ahead of the Sept. 9 opener at Denver. The process of seeing how all those combinations look gets its first true examination next Thursday when the Seahawks open the preseason against Indianapolis.

“These guys, they kind of joined forces in the offseason and kind of as a group, they knew they were up against it and wanted to make sure that they were going to give everything they had and put it all on the line,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “Bradley McDougald has done a great job of being the leader in that group and it’s a good, tight group and they’re ready to take on the challenge of getting through camp and getting through all of the learning and the experience that’s necessary here is all part of the process http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/kentrell-brice-jersey , but their attitude is really strong and they’re really determined to do something with this.”

McDougald is almost certain to claim one of the positions. Which one is the question. He filled in as both free and strong safety last year when injuries sidelined Thomas and Kam Chancellor. McDougald was the starting strong safety after Chancellor was lost for the season in early November to a neck injury.

That doesn’t mean McDougald will be the strong safety. Throughout the first week of training camp, Seattle has rotated its safeties in both positions in an attempt to see how interchangeable the players can be.

“They have the opportunity to show themselves and it’s a lot of competition,” defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. said. “Great communication, it’s showing up every day. Doing extra work, asking a lot of good questions. But, this is their chance to really step up and show us what they have.”

With McDougald seemingly a cinch to take one of the safety spots Phillip Gaines Jersey , the remaining position appears to be a four-way competition between Tedric Thompson, Delano Hill, Maurice Alexander and Mike Tyson. And it’s Thompson and Hill that appear to be getting the most opportunity early on.

It makes sense Seattle would give Thompson and Hill the most reps. The Seahawks invested major draft capital in the pair a year ago, taking Hill in the third round and Thompson in the fourth round. They were allowed to spend last season learning behind Thomas and Chancellor with the idea they could eventually take over for the veteran Seahawks safeties.

The replacement has arrived sooner than expected, accelerated by Thomas’ holdout.

“Earl is a special, special player. At the same time http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/jordan-wilkins-jersey , the guys that are here are working really hard and competing and they have the opportunity to show what they can do,” Norton said.

From a look standpoint, Thompson fits the mold of a free safety and Hill looks more like a strong safety. But each is working at both positions as Seattle often adjusts its safety alignments based off the offensive formation. Neither has the sideline-to-sideline speed of Thomas, but Norton has said Seattle’s scheme won’t change.

“I view it as competing. First game is a little ways to go. I’ve got a lot to improve on,” Thompson said. “I don’t focus on if I’m starting today or not starting today. We all get the same amount of reps so it’s all about competing.”

HOUSTON -- J. Atletico Madrid Jerseys .J. Watt was back on the field in Houstons 23-14 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but not quite back to form after missing the entire preseason following back surgery.Im knocking a little bit of rust off, and I think as we move forward here Ill start to feel fully like myself again, he said. But theres definitely some things I wish I could have done differently today.Coach Bill OBrien wasnt surprised at how Watt looked and thought he improved as the game progressed.I think its hard when you havent practiced in a long time or played in a game in a long time, OBrien said. I thought at the end there, he was really revving. He was going pretty good.Watt said he didnt feel any lingering effects from the surgery he had in July to repair a herniated disk and he played about as much as he normally does. But the man who has won NFLs Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons and three of the last four wasnt the game-changer he has routinely been in the past.Physically my body feels fine, he said. I just need to get back into fully being myself out there and trusting my body and letting my body take over and do what it knows how to do.While Watt, who led the NFL with 17 + sacks last season, didnt sack Jay Cutler on Sunday, he did register three hits on the quarterback. Watts teammates sacked Cutler five times, with Whitney Mercilus getting two and Jadeveon Clowney, Josh Simon and Andre Hal tallying one each.Watt enjoyed watching his teammates get after Cutler and cant wait to see what Houstons defensive front will be able to do once hes back to full strength. Its a lot of fun out there and its fun when everybody is making plays, he said. You never know where its going to come from ... it could be anybody and thats whats so fun about our defense.Watt had a difficult offseason and had surgery to repair five torn muscles in his core in January before going under the knife again to repair his back problem. Watt wasnt too hard on himself for not playing up to his lofty expectations on Sunday after the months of rehabilitation it took to reach his goal of returning for Week 1.Its been a long road and to be out there with my teammates for a win, it feels great, he said. We overcame a lot. While Watt was still shaking off the effects of his injury, Clowney looked to be completely healthy for the first time since his NFL debut in 2014. Clowney, who was the top overall pick in 2014, has failed to live up to expectations in two injury-filled seasons. But on Sunday the Texans moved him around often and he showed flashes of what convinced them to select him first in the draft. He finished with five tackles, including two for losses and had a career-high three hits on Cutler. My first game ever was shaky, first two seasons were shaky, had a couple of injuries, but Im feeling better and going out there competing and having fun, Clowney said. Were winning games. So thats great. With Watt not at full strength the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Clowney had to deal with some of the double-teams that Watt normally commands on Sunday. It was rough, Clowney said with a laugh. I know what he goes through.Clowneys performance drew rave reviews from coaches, players and even team owner Bob McNair.Hes doing what we thought he would do when he was healthy, McNair said. Hes going to be fun to watch, and J.J. will play himself back into shape. So the defense will do nothing but get better.----Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Nikola-Kalinic-Jersey/ .C. -- Manny Malhotra had two goals and an assist, leading the Carolina Hurricanes to a 6-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Lu...rnandez-Jersey/ .Y. - Rob Manfred was promoted Monday to Major League Baseballs chief operating officer, which may make him a candidate to succeed Bud Selig as commissioner. http://www.atleticomadridpro.com/Kids-Angel-Correa-Jersey/ . The Indianapolis Colts have bought themselves a chance in the AFC South race. Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey . But are they equipped to take advantage of it Thursday night?Monday nights revelation that quarterback Andrew Luck has entered into the NFLs concussion protocol comes at a really bad time for Indianapolis. Because it is hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium to round out the slate of Thanksgiving games, Luck has three fewer days to make it through protocol.Luck, who was injured in Sundays 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans early in the fourth quarter but still finished the game, seems like a long shot to make it through protocol by 8:30 Thursday night. Of the players who have been placed in protocol this year, just one has passed all the tests required to play in fewer than five days.Given that backdrop -- and some players do recover quicker than others, although most teams arent cavalier when it comes to head injuries -- it appears likely that Scott Tolzien will run the Colts in this critical game.Tolzien, who was Aaron Rodgers backup in Green Bay the last three years, started two games in Rodgers stead during the 2013 season. He threw for 339 yards at the New York Giants, although he also tossed three interceptions in a 27-13 loss, and was less impressive in a game against Minnesota before getting hooked in a game the Packers rallied to tie.Since that game, Tolzien has tossed one pass, completing it last year for four yards. Barring a stunningly quick recovery by Luck, Tolzien will throw many more passes in this one.Weve got a guy that comes to work every single day and prepares like a starter ever since hes been in this building, Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano said. He understands and knows this offense and if thats the case, hell go out and play winning football. At 5-5, the Colts are only a game back of Houston in the division, thanks to the Texans 27-20 loss Monday night to Oakland in Mexico City. A win Thursday night would cut that deficit in half, and Houston must host San Diego, which is coming off its bye, Sunday on a short week and after the rigors of playing in 7,500-foot altitude. So the table is set for Indianapolis, even if it doesnt have all the ingredients it would like. You dont ever want to be without anybody, but we have been down this road before and we have handled it well, Pagano said. Faced a bunch of adversity and obstacles just like everybody else.Pittsburgh (5-5) certainly wont display any sympathy for the Colts. It had to play New England last month without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and predictably lost. That was one of four straight losses that dropped the Steelers under .500.But Pittsburgh snapped its skid Sunday with a 24-9 win at 0-11 Cleveland, enabling it to tie Baltimore for first place in the AFC North as the Ravens lost in Dallas. Its really big when you have a win like this, linebacker Ryan Shazier said. Wed been on a losing streak, so getting a win is really going to help everybody get into a better mood. We just need to get where we want to go and where we need to go.Aside from having about two days of prep time before flying to Indianapolis Wednesday, the Steelers appear to have most of the advantages in this one. Their key players are available and relatively healthy, unlike the Colts, who might also be without second-leading tackler Clayton Geathers (concussion).Pittsburghs point of emphasis for Thursday night might be finishing off drives. The Steelers constructed four drives of at least 11 plays at Cleveland, but settled for field goals on three of them as a spate of mistakes helped stall them out.We have to clean some things up from a detail standpoint when we get into the red zone, running back LeVeon Bell said. We got away with it (against Cleveland) but other games we may not. Well watch the film and see what we have to clean up. The details have to be better.Bell was at his best against the Browns, accounting for 201 total yards from scrimmage and scoring a touchdown on the last play of the first half with a 1-yard run.Indianapolis is playing just its third Thanksgiving game. Its 2-0 on this holiday, winning at Detroit in 2004 and Atlanta in 2007. ... Pittsburgh LB James Harrison set the franchises all-time sacks record Sunday in Cleveland, taking Cody Kessler down to give him 77.5 sacks in his career and passing Jason Gildon. In the lead up - which seemed to begin the moment Mike Geiger blew the whistle in Houston last Thursday night - the Impact rumour mill went into overdrive. The speculation went into meltdown mode, of the golden nugget variety. The Atlantic Coast Conference is off to one of its strongest starts in league history.Often maligned as the weakest of the Power Five leagues, the ACC has three teams ranked in the top 10 , tied with the Big Ten for the most. Its 17-5 record in non-conference games is the third-best start in ACC history. The conference, and two of its biggest stars, will take center stage in college football on Saturday at noon when second-ranked Florida State (2-0) and No. 10 Louisville (2-0, 1-0 ACC) meet in Kentucky. Its the first meeting of two top 10 teams from the ACC since Florida State and Miami in 2013.I think its critical, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said of what the showdown means to the ACC. It adds to ... credibility. The game feature Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois and Louisvilles dual-threat dynamo Lamar Jackson, who has put his name into early Heisman Trophy talk with 13 touchdowns in two record-setting games.Jackson was responsible for eight touchdowns by halftime in the Cardinals season-opening win against Charlotte, and followed that up by running for four scores and passing for another in a 62-28 victory at Syracuse . With 411 passing yards and 199 rushing yards against the Orange, he became just the second 400-150 player in FBS history.Francois, in his first start for the Seminoles, had 478 yards of offense in guiding Florida State to its largest come-from-behind victory in a 45-34 triumph against No. 19 Mississippi. In a league that has been recently viewed as Florida State, Clemson and everyone else, Fisher believes its time for people outside the ACC to take another look and realize other teams in the league can compete with everyone. The Seminoles beat Auburn for the 2013 national championship. Clemson made the title game last season, losing to Alabama, but Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson was a prominent name in early Heisman talk this year as well.It is great, great football in the ACC and Im glad that people are starting to see it, Fisher said. He said some of the perspective of ACC football is based on the leagues reputation that took hold long ago and is difficult to shake.I just think its something that over time has been ingrained and it will taake time to get it out, he said. Chris Hogan Jersey. Seminoles center Alec Eberle grew up in Mechanicsville, Virginia, at a time when Virginia Tech was the leagues marquee program. The Hokies won four championships in their first seven years in the league, from 2004-10, but numerous teams have shown improvement since.Over the last couple years, the ACC has come up so much in the football world, Eberle said. Florida State was up there and Virginia Tech, but now Louisville, UNC is getting real big, Duke has gotten better over the years. Its awesome knowing the ACC is competing at this higher level.Clemson (2011, 2015) and Florida State (2012-14) have combined to win the last five league championships, but in the past four seasons, Georgia Tech has reached the title game twice, Duke and North Carolina once each. Its definitely improving, definitely on the rise, Louisville wide receiver Jamari Staples said. Id say the ACC is one of the strongest. There are so many teams that can just pop out of nowhere. Wake Forest is 2-0. Who knows where theyll be at the end of the season? Its a hard conference to play in. Youve got to work hard to win.The 2-0 start for the Demon Deacons includes a 24-14 victory at Duke last weekend, their first road victory against any of the other three North Carolina schools in the conference since they won at Duke of October 2011.Third-year coach Dave Clawson cautioned against making too much of the victory, but is optimistic.I dont want to make it bigger than it was, he said. It was a big win for our program. ... But in terms of validating what we did, it is still a work in progress. It only means something if we can carry it through and keep improving and win more games.Sounds like a microcosm of the ACCs strong start.---AP sports writers Joe Reedy in Tallahassee, Florida, Gary Graves in Louisville, Kentucky, and Joedy McCreary in Winston-Salem contributed.---Online: The APs college football page: http://collegfootball.ap.org---Follow Hank on Twitter: www.twitter.com/hankkurzjr and his work can be found at: http://bigstory.ap.org/content/hank-kurz-jr Disocunt Football Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys China China NFL Jerseys White Cheap Authentic Jerseys Youth NFL Jerseys Wholesale Camo China NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Discount Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo Cheap NFL Jerseys Outlet Nike NFL Jerseys China Cheap Stitched Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2019 Youth NFL Jerseys China ' ' '
