SOELDEN, Austria -- When Lara Gut starts the defense of her overall Alpine World Cup title on Saturday, she will be the first Swiss skier to do so in more than two decades. NBA Jerseys China .Not that it puts pressure on her.I dont think I have to defend something, Gut said on Thursday, two days before the season-opening giant slalom on the Rettenbach glacier. The title that I won, is last year. Now we all start at zero points again and its just a matter of winning races again. The previous skier from Switzerland to take the biggest prize in womens skiing was Vreni Schneider in 1995, successfully defending her title from the previous season.Gut downplayed the importance of the first race.My goal is to improve every day, I have to try to be as relaxed as possible, Gut said. There is always a lot of talk ahead of Soelden but this race is also worth just 100 points. She will be the only racer on Saturday who has won an overall title. Anna Veith, Tina Maze and Lindsey Vonn are all absent, for various reasons.Guts predecessor in 2014 and 2015, Veith, needs more time to recover from the knee injury that kept the Austrian away from the slopes last season.Known under her maiden name Fenninger until she got married in April, Veith returned on skis in June but has still been lacking muscle power for the World Cup.I felt that I dont have enough strength to put enough pressure on the skis, said Veith, adding she would spend next month mainly in the gym before returning to skiing in December. The 2013 champion also wont be a threat to Guts ambition as Tina Maze announced her retirement on Thursday. The Slovenian took a break from racing last season and said she will do only one last race -- on home soil in Maribor -- before quitting the sport. So, will Vonn again become Guts main challenger? The American, hunting her fifth overall title but first since 2012, was in a neck-and-neck race with Gut until damaging her left knee in a super-G crash in February, ending her season.Though fit and ready to race, Vonn declined the trip to the Austrian Alps as she planned to concentrate more on speed races and refrain from GS, like she also dropped the slalom from her schedule years ago.Ill be back on skis soon and training here at home, Vonn wrote on Facebook recently. Im disappointed I wont be there (in Soelden) but my goals for this season are focused more on downhill and super-g races. However, Gut might face fierce competition from Vonns American teammate, Mikaela Shiffrin, who agreed. Its the first season that I think its really possible, said Shiffrin, who has dominated slaloms in recent years and vastly improved in GS. Now she will add more speed events, not just super-G but even some downhills. We have to wait to get a good grasp where I stand, Shiffrin said. If I am skiing well in slalom and GS and have some good results in speed, it looks like I am a good contender.Calling it a huge dream, Shiffrin was quick to acknowledge many rivals have the same ambition.I want to keep everything in perspective, she said. There are a lot of girls that have that dream. There are probably 20 racers out there who have the potential to win the overall globe. Wholesale NBA Jerseys . FOXBOROOUGH, Mass. Adidas Basketball Shoes Sale . -- As excited as Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan was about his teams 16-0 win over the Patriots earlier this month -- his first in Foxborough in eight tries -- he was quick to acknowledge it came with an asterisk. Its satisfying. But lets face it: They had a player out, Ryan said at the time. That player, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, is back for Round 2 as New England (6-1) looks to get even for the lone blemish on its record this season. The Patriots enter the week playing well three weeks after coach Bill Belichick described a performance against the Bills in which he said the team failed in all three phases of the game. The offense is thriving with Brady back, outscoring opponents 95-46 over the past three games. New England is also the only team in the NFL not to throw an interception this season and has a league-best 115.9 passer rating. The defense is healthy as its been in weeks as well. In addition, it will have defensive end Rob Ninkovich on the field after he missed the first meeting with Buffalo while serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.Ninkovichs presence should be helpful as the Patriots look to contain Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor better than they did at home.Taylor made plays with both his arm and feet in the first win, finishing with 246 yards passing and a touchdown.Reducing his effectiveness is a priority.Hes very explosive, Ninkovich said. He can still get a ball 60 yards down the field as hes running out of the pocket, so you really have to do a good job keeping him in the pocket.Probably the only negative development since Bradys return has been on special teams with Stephen Gostkowski. The Patriots kicker, who entered the season having not missed an extra point since his rookie year in 2006, has missed two in the past two games. Hes also just 9 for 12 (75 percent) on field goals, which is below the career-low 77 percent he kicked in both 2010 and 2006.Though Gostkowski was especially hard on himself after his performance against the Steelers, Belichick lauded the work his kicker puts in weekly, adding well work through it.He also dismissed the idea that Goskowskis recent woes could be related to the different types of techniques hes being asked to employ on kickoffs this year. Belichick likened it to the multiple kinds of shots a golfer has to have in their repertoire.Youve got to be able to hit a sand wedge, youve got to be able to hit a 5-iron, youve got to be able to drive, youve got to be able to putt, Belichick said. Thats what kickers and punters do.Special teams captain Matt Slater said Gostkowski has nothing but support among his teammates. Were just gonna be as positive as we can be with Stephen, Slater said. You dont want to say too much, but you also want to let him know that we continue to have faith in him. We continue to believe in his ability to perform, and that we wouldnt trade him for anyone.---AP NFL websites: and Kyle Hightower on Twitter at Mens Nike Basketball Shoes LeBron Soldier 11 XI Triple White White/Black-Pure Platinum 897644-103 . LOS ANGELES -- The best way to ease No. Cheap Jerseys USA . 1 overall draft pick Jared Goff into the NFL will be a powerful rushing offense, coach Jeff Fisher has said time and again, and it proved to be true Saturday night.Goff threw his first touchdown pass, Todd Gurley rushed for a score in his preseason debut, and the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 21-20.Gurley, who was held out of exhibition games last season as a rookie while recovering from a torn ACL, rushed for 20 yards on four carries and had a 3-yard touchdown run. With the Chiefs (0-2) holding out four defensive starters, the starting offensive line played four series and allowed Rams running backs Gurley, Benny Cunningham and Malcolm Brown to rush for 85 yards on 15 carries. Its going to start there, Fisher said.Case Keenum started at quarterback and led the Rams (2-0) to two touchdowns, going 4 of 5 for 53 yards with an 11-yard scoring pass to Pharoh Cooper before giving way to Goff.Goff mostly struggled for the second consecutive week despite working with the first-unit offensive line for two series. Goff lost a fumble after tripping over left guard Cody Wichmann and fumbled out of bounds while being sacked. It wasnt until the ground game got going for Goff that he finally found success. His touchdown came on a 10-yard throw to Brown, who made a juggling catch to put the Rams ahead early in the fourth quarter. Brown had runs of 28 and 5 yards on the plays before the touchdown, and Goffs completions off play-action started the drive. When guys are ripping off runs like Malcolm was on that drive, and a lot of guys were throughout the whole game, it always helps, Goff said. It did take a drive or two to get in rhythm, but once I did I was happy I was left in there for as long as I was.Alex Smith was 9 of 12 for 137 yards and one touchdown, leading the Chiefs to 17 points on four possessions. Smiths pump-fake on a 20-yard touchdown pass completely fooled two Rams defenders and allowed Jeremy Maclin to step into the end zone untouched.I thought Alex did well, well enough where I felt comfortable pulling him out and getting Nick (Foles) a couple reps early with the first group, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.Maclin and Rams cornerback Lamarcus Joyner were ejected with 44 seconds left in the first half after trading slaps to the head.Referee Pete Morelli accidentally identified Joyner as playing for St. Louis, resulting in boos from the Coliseum crowd.Jabriel Washington recovered quarterback Aaron Murrays fumble at the Rams 23-yard line to seal the win. The Chiefs forced a three-and-out to get the ball back with 1:22 left, but Murray threw four incompletions to end the threat.ROOKIE WATCHChiefs: D.J. White started at cornerback, working opposite last seasons Defensive Rookie of the Year Marcus Peters. The sixth-round pick from Georgia Tech was effective when blitzing, but had mixed results in coverage. White finished with one tackle.Rams: The Rams loaded up on rookie wide receivers hoping to find complements to Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt, but are still waiting for someone to break through. Cooper scored on his only reception, while Paul McRoberts added one catch for 6 yards. Production is more likely to come from the tight ends Tyler Higbee, who did not play because of illness, and Temarrick Hemingway, who had a 26-yard reception from Goff.POSITION BATTLESChiefs: Foles was solid against his former team, going 18 of 22 for 133 yards. With Tyler Bray status uncertain after suffering a small chip fracture in his cervical spine last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Foles experience as a starter with the Rams and Philadelphia Eagles represents a significant upgrade behind Smith regardless of when the fourth-year quarterback from Tennessee is able to return.Hes playing catch-up right now, but he did a nice job, Reid said.Rams: With the secondary struggling again, cornerback E.J. Gaines first live action since suffering a foot injury in training camp last year was a welcome sign. Gaines finished with four tackles and it wouldnt be a surprise if he started opposite Trumaine Johnson next week at Denver.INJURY UPDATEChiefs: Fullback Trey Millard was taken off the field on a cart after suffering a left knee injury covering a punt. Millard previously tore the ACL in his left knee as a senior at Oklahoma. Reid initially characterized the injury as a knee sprain and said Millard would undergo an MRI on Sunday.Rams: Wide receiver Bradley Marquez suffered a right ankle injury in the third quarter. Marquez did not appear to be able to put any weight on his leg as he was helped off the field.QUOTABLEChiefs: Its really infectious the way he carries himself and we just try to feed off that, keep him healthy and off the ground, Chiefs center Mitch Morse said of Smiths play.Rams: Every day gets a little bit better, every game gets a little bit better, every drive, every play, so I feel like I have made some good strides, Goff said of his improvement.---Online:AP NFL website: and AP NFL Twitter feed: Cheap Jerseys From China . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday.CAMDEN, N.J. -- Kobe Bryant is playing some of his toughest defence yet, demanding his mother keeps her hands off his merchandise. Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers guard, said in a court filing that he never gave his mother permission to sell mementos from his high school days and early professional basketball career. Bryant is in a court battle over whether hundreds of items -- from high school jerseys to trophies and championship rings -- can be auctioned off. Pamela Bryant said the NBA star told her the memorabilia was hers. She arranged earlier this year to auction it off through Berlin, N.J.-based Goldin Auctions and received a $450,000 advance. Last week, lawyers for the son wrote to the auction house demanding it cease the June sale. Goldin is suing to assert its right to sell. In a filing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Camden, Kobe Bryant says his mother acknowledged to him recently that she did not have permission to sell the items. The suit was filed there because the auction house is located in southern New Jersey. Goldin dubbed the auction "The Bryant Collection," and the main page of its website shows three Lower Merion uniforms from his high school days and one familiar No. 8 Lakers jersey. Theres even a surfboard from when he won a Teen Choice award among the roughly 100 items listed. "I never told my mother that she could have my personal property, let alone consign it for public auction," Bryant wrote in the filing. He also posted on Twitter, "When u give Give GIVE and they take Take TAKE at wat point do u draw a line in the sand? (hash) hurtbeyondmmeasure (hash) gavemenowarning (hash) love?" According to court filings, Pamela Bryant struck a deal in January with Goldin, which earlier this year sold a rare Honus Wagner baseball card for a record $2.dddddddddddd1 million. She received $450,000 up front, which she intended to use for a new home in Nevada. In its court filings, Goldin says Pamela Bryant told the auction house that she asked her son five years ago what he wanted to do with the items that were in her home. "Kobe Bryant indicated to Pamela Bryant that the items belonged to her and that he had no interest in them," the auction houses attorneys wrote. So she put them in a $1,500-per-month New Jersey storage unit. The challenge came Tuesday when Goldin sent a news release announcing the auction. By days end, Kobe Bryants lawyer had sent a cease-and-desist letter telling the auction house to call off the sale and return the items to him. Kenneth Goldin, owner of the auction house, says he cant cancel the auction because hes already advanced $450,000 to Bryants mother and put money into advertising the auction. Kobe Bryants lawyer Mark Campbell said in a statement, "Mr. Bryants personal property has ended up in the possession of someone who does not lawfully own it. We look forward to resolving this legal matter through the legal system." Bryant has had a sometimes icy relationship with his mother and father, Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, a former pro basketball player who is now coaching in Thailand. In the court filing, it states that the husband and wife are overseas this week. PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling announced plans on Tuesday to run against Elizabeth Warren in the U.S. Senate if his wife agrees, but he declined to apologize to Rhode Island taxpayers left on the hook for tens of millions of dollars when his video game company collapsed.Schilling spoke Tuesday with WPRO-AM, his first interview about 38 Studios since settling a lawsuit over it and since a criminal investigation resulted in no charges.Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo has said Rhode Island residents were hurt by the bad deal and deserve an apology.Schilling said its not that he wont apologize, but he wants Raimondo to tell him what he should apologize for. He asked listeners: What do you want me to apologize for?The company moved from Massachusetts to Rhode Island in 2010 in exchange for a $75 million loan guarantee, then went bankrupt less than two years later.Schilling said his company failed because it didnt raise enough money, not because he did anything malicious or illegal, and that he has apologized to his former employees.I couldnt raise the final tranche of money and get the product to launch and that will never be anyones fault but mine, he said. But Schilling also faulted politicians for giving him a loan guarantee in the first place. If I was the governor, I would have never even offered this deal, Schilling said. The government doesnt belong in private business. But Im on the other side of this. My job and responsibility is to my company and to my employees and I was doing everything I could do, within my legal means, to make that be a success.Schilling took questions from callers in the wide-ranging, three-hour interrview.ddddddddddddHe also said he had decided to run against Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, in 2018, but that he must clear it with his wife.Ive made my decision, Im going to run, he said. But I have to talk to Shonda, my wife, and ultimately its going to come down to how her and I feel this would affect our marriage and our kids.Schilling took issue with Warren opposing a November ballot question aimed at dramatically expanding the number of charter schools in Massachusetts. He said hes not scared to debate her, noting that the Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians when he was a player.Ive beaten the real ones before so Im not worried about that, the self-described conservative and Donald Trump supporter said, an apparent reference to Warrens claims of Native American heritage.Earlier this year Schilling was fired from his job as an ESPN baseball analyst after comments on Facebook critical of transgender rights. He now has an online radio show.A judge recently approved a settlement with Schilling and three other 38 Studios officials over the loan deal. The state of Rhode Island sued Schilling and other key players involved.Just one company remains as a defendant, First Southwest, which acted as the states financial adviser. AUBURN, Ala. Air max Outlet . -- No. 17 Texas A&M and Auburn have each faced a tough nonconference test and another one that wasnt so challenging. Now, they get a chance to discover whether theyve made some progress in the Southeastern Conference Western Division. The Tigers (1-1) and Aggies (2-0) open league play Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium in a matchup of two teams who havent fared so well in the SEC the past couple of seasons.Auburn has lost three straight against Power 5 conference teams since beating Texas A&M last season. The Aggies, meanwhile, get another chance to prove that theyve made progress both with quarterback Trevor Knight and as a defense after ranking among the SECs worst at stopping the run in 2015.The game will be another test cause thats basically where we are as team, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said. Everyone waiting to see who we are and what we can do. Our team enjoys that kind of attitude. Thats been kind of the attitude about us since Week One.Thats when the Aggies survived an overtime win over UCLA before routing Prairie View A&M 67-0. Auburn took No. 5 Clemson down to the wire in the opener before rolling over Arkansas State, 51-14.Let the battle for SEC West positioning begin. Neither team has had a winning league record in the past two seasons.Auburn is a slight favorite in the game, but the visiting team has won the last four meetings. It is a little weird, Auburn guard Alex Kozan said. Normally the home team advantage, but 2012 obviously that wasnt going to happen. (In) 2013 we kind of shocked them a little bit, 2014 they shocked us and then 2015 we got them again, so hopefully we can break that little weird streak. With a win, Texas A&M will have started 3-0 in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1939-41.---Some things to watch when No. 17 Texas A&M and Auburn play on Saturday:BLOCKING GARRETT: Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett has one sack in the first two games, but Auburn knows how formidable a pass rusher he is and has two new starting tackles. It pretty much looks like he was created in a video game to rush the passer, Tigers guard Alex Kozan said. Hes long, athletic and he can bend.DEFENDING AUBURNS RUN: Coach Gus Malzahns Tigers racked up 462 rushing yards in last weeks win over Arkansas State, with tailbacks Kerryon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway both topping 120 yards. Texas A&M has allowed 2.3 yards per carry through two games. What you saw from UCLA was downhill lead, power team and toss, Sumlin said. Different run attack than a Gus Malzahn team. More of a misdirection. Dont get it confused. Its a power attack. But its power and misdirection and get your eyes somewhere. You have to have lot of eye discipline.QB STABILITY: Both Knight and Auburns Sean White appear to have stabilized the quarterback situations. Theyve also each flashed some running ability. White was one of just three Auburn quarterbacks to play against Clemson in Malzahns failed experiment but clearly is the No. 1 guy now, with John Franklin III so far used as essentially a Wildcat QB.FACING AGGIES WRS: Clemsons Mike Williams burned Auburns secondary down the field a number of times, and Texas A&M presents even more receiving threats with Christian Kirk, Josh Reynolds, Ricky Seals-Jones and others.PETTWAYS ENCORE: Pettway hadnt logged a carry for Auburn before last weeks 15-carry, 152-yard coming out party. The 6-foot, 240-pounder provides a definite change of pace to the smaller Johnson but hasnt had a shot at an SEC defense yet.---AP college football website: Cheap Air Max Sale . -- Stanford squashed Oregons national championship hopes again, schooling the Ducks in power football. Cheap Air Max 2017 . However, he did make them miss him a little less. Cundiff, who had the unenviable job of replacing Dawson last season, agreed Thursday to a one-year, $1. . And when it opened, every player was at his stall. Thats a sure sign that a team is in a slump and is searching for answers. "Its embarrassing to be at home and play the way we did," said defenceman Josh Gorges.VANCOUVER -- Former Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault appears to have some interesting opportunities as he pursues a new job. Given his experience and success with the Canucks, Vigneault should get some consideration for the vacant Dallas Stars job. Dallas has a strong core of young, emerging talent, but missed the playoffs the past two seasons under former first-time NHL coach Glen Gulutzan. Vigneault guided the Canucks to a berth in the 2010-11 Stanley Cup finals, two Presidents trophies and six Northwest Division titles. But he got the axe after the Canucks were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for the second straight year. In addition to the Dallas job, he could get consideration for vacancies that have yet to occur, pending the conclusion of the post-season. Most of the opportunities appear to be with teams that toiled in the Eastern Conference this season prior to next seasons realignment. Four or five Eastern teams that missed the playoffs -- including Winnipeg, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Carolina, and Florida -- will likely be evaluating their coaching situations extensively. John Tortorella of the New York Rangers could also be on the hot seat because of the Rangers second-round struggles against Boston. Winnipeg could be a good fit for Vigneault, because he coached Vancouvers former top farm club for one season before moving up to the Canucks and knows the teams owners and management. Most teams who toiled in the Western Conference this season appear to be set. But with Phoenix coaach Dave Tippetts contract due to expire, an opportunity could emerge with the Coyotes. Cheap Air Max Outlet. Accordingly, Canucks general manager Mike Gillis has no shortage of possible candidates as he looks to find Vancouvers next coach. Gillis, who has come under heavy criticism since firing Vigneault on Wednesday, must decide whether he wants someone with experience or a fresh young face. Potential candidates mentioned publicly range from former Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff to ex-Calgary and New Jersey coach Brent Sutter to former Tampa Bay Lightning coach Guy Boucher. Scott Arniel, the coach of Vancouvers AHL farm club in Chicago in 2012-13, appears likely to get an interview based on his lengthy ties to the Canucks. He is in his second stint as the head coach of their top affiliate. He spent four seasons as head coach of the Manitoba Moose and served for two others as an assistant. But he had limited success in his lone NHL head-coaching assignment, lasting only a season and a half with the Columbus Blue Jackets between 2010-12. Less experienced possible candidates include AHL coaches Dallas Eakins of the Toronto Marlies coach and Willie Desjardins of the Texas Stars. Meanwhile, Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo, who was not traded as expected, expressed irony on Twitter on Thursday in that Vigneault left the club before him. "Since our 1st year when we arrived together, AV would always tell me that hed be gone before I would. I guess he was right. Very ironic....," Luongo tweeted. His rapid ascension from faux fighter for WWE to heavyweight champion under the UFC banner made the superhuman freak the pay-per-view box office king, one of the baddest men in sports and put him on a seemingly lengthy career path toward MMA immortality. But the determination and domination that allowed him to knock out Frank Mir and Randy Couture and choke out Shane Carwin couldnt help Lesnar defeat diverticulitis. As in Vizag this week, England walked off the field in Ahmedabad in 2012 with a whopping defeat against our names - beaten by nine wickets - to go 1-0 down in the series. Cheap Jerseys From China . But there wasnt any panic in the group. I remember we had a relaxing evening on the roof terrace after the match, it was a good night. It wasnt a massive debrief, or anything, there werent any Churchillan speeches, but we just chatted as a group.Despite the margin of defeat, we had actually finished the match not feeling too bad about life. After being asked to follow-on we showed plenty of spirit - and skill - in the second innings and it made a huge difference, helping to instil the belief that we could play their bowling. It was nice to help set the tone with Alastair Cook and, as a team, we grew from there. We knew if we could keep India out there, bowling for longer and longer, that would take them out of their comfort zone and we felt they would crack before we did. I think we took them by surprise, they looked lacklustre at times. Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir were past their best. They had all the names, but Im not sure it was their best side.It is difficult to draw direct parallels between that England side and this one. In 2012, it was very much a ready-made team. If you look at the ages we were pretty experienced, even myself on debut had been around first-class cricket for a while. But as we did in that second innings in Ahmedabad, this England side have shown over the first two Tests of this series that they can compete with India. You have to get the India players out of their comfort zone, which is what we managed to do four years ago after the opening defeat. The pressure can quickly turn in their backyard. Questions are now being asked of Ajinkya Rahane despite what is a very impressive overall record. If England can keep forcing these questions to be asked it can escalate. There is one glaring difference and thats in the spin department which has been well-documented for a long time now. In Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar we had one of Englands great pairings. But Monty, who was magnificent in Kolkata and Mumbai, had not actually played the first Test where we went with three quicks alongside Swann and Samit Patel. However, it soon became apparent that two quicks and two spinners was the way forward. I remember standing at extra cover to Monty and you always felt in the game; it never felt like India had a plan to either him or Swann. This time, England again have to decide who their best bowlers are. There is an argument to say they need to play to strengths with an extra quick. They can still play two spinners, and Adil Rashids improvement on this tour - which has been one of the most impressive parts of the first two games - suggests he is now far less of a gamble to play as one of a pair. Zafar Ansari has found it tough, and what is really his role?Ive always believed you play your best bowlers, whether they be spinners to seamers. Only people in the camp can judge how individuals are going. How is Steven Finn bowling? He was superb in the Kolkata Test in 2012 but he can struggle, like many bowlers, coming in from the cold. He has played once in Bangladesh but has had precious little cricket since the English season. Still, a fourth quick - be it Finn or Jake Ball - could bring more value than a third spinner. There is talk of Gareth Batty, but if he was so good hed have been playing already. There is one element out of Englands control that they really need some luck with: the toss. You cant say it wasnt important in Vizag. You also saw, when England had the chance to bat first in Rajkot that they were able to put pressure on India. In 2012 we managed to win in Mumbai and Kolkata despite losing the toss and having to bowl first, bowling India out for 327 and 316 in the two first innings, but hand on heart Im not sure I can see that happening this time around. Im naturally positive about this England team, I believe its a very good team with some match-changing players - it certainly isnt beyond them to win a Test - but the toss is looking important. You could see the look in Cooks eyes when he lost it in Vizag because he knows the resources at his disposal. This is another big challenge for Cook the captain. I couldnt understand his use of Moeen Ali, for example, in Vizag. On the 2012 tour he was a raw captain - it was his first series as full-time skipper - but in Swann and Panesar he had two spinners he could basically put on and they did their job. For periods there wasnt a lot of captaining to do, and if needed Swann would help him out. This time he doesnt have that luxury. It was also very much Andy Flowers team. He would do more of the talking and led the intensity. But now its very different. Trevor Bayliss believes its Alastairs team and he runs things completely. The main thing that Trevor has brought to this England team - and youve seen it in the last two Tests - is the fight, attitude and commitment. Even when theyve been down in this series that hasnt wavered. The second innings with the ball in Vizag typified that. I think India would have struggled in the final innings on that surface. You can pick holes in England, but it wasnt easy. Its important to hold your team spirit together when things get tough. It was something we were conscious of in 2012 and I really dont think that will be an issue with this side. Its a very good environment. Alastair is very big on staying together, not becoming too individualistic.England can turn this around. I do not think this is a superstar India team. They are very good at playing from the front in their home conditions, but get them on the back foot and theres a vulnerability there to be exposed. As told to Andrew McGlashan Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys . VAL DISERE, France -- Norway dominated, Kjetil Jansrud won, Austria struggled. Cheap Miami Marlins Jerseys .The first downhill of the mens World Cup season on Saturday traced the same path down the sun-soaked Val dIsere course as the super-G one day earlier.Jansrud has gone 2-for-2 in the first speed races with teammate Aksel Lund Svindal defying expectations after a 10-month injury absence to join him again on the podium.Relying on technical skills ahead of pure speed, Jansrud was 0.26 seconds faster than Peter Fill of Italy, the defending World Cup downhill champion, down the 3.4-kilometer (2-mile) Oreiller-Killy course. Its an amazing beginning, said Jansrud, who won the season-long downhill title in 2015. You never know, but I hoped for sure for a start like this.Svindal, who was runner-up on Friday, placed third, trailing 0.33 behind his fellow Norwegian. Only the top three finished in under two minutes.Im very satisfied, said Svindal, who lacked stamina after limited top-level training since rupturing his right ligaments in January. Its a very hard landing (on the jumps) and I took a second before I got my breath. For the second straight day, Norway and Italy filled the podium and the traditionally powerful Austria team was never in contention. The best placed Austrian, in 17th, was Olympic champion Matthias Mayer who came down 1.45 slower than Jansrud. It was a terrible day, Austria team director Hans Pum told The Associated Press. In the last 40 years I cant remember many like this. We have to analyze exactly what has happened.Austrias winless streak in the marquee downhill discipline extended to 13 races since Hannes Reichelt won at Kvitfjell, Norway, in March 2015.Norway has now won eight of those 13 downhills, with Svindal, Jansrud and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde all taking victories for a small but high-class team.Everyone will start screaming in the Austrian media, for sure, said Jansrud, adding he was not surprised at the rival teams result, citing Mayer returning from a back injury and Reichelt slowed by knee pains. We need to have fast Austrians to keep the entertainment coming and the spectators coming, said Jansrud, who took downhill bronze behind Mayer at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.Jansruds win on Saturday was keyed by skiing well through a turning middle section in the shadows where rivals typically lost at least a half-second to him.The lead was threatened by Steven Nyman before the United States racer strayed wide into rough snow midway down. Nyman placed 15th, ending his streak of four straight top-three finishes in downhill. While Jansrud was only 18th fastest at either of the two speed checks, Fill was the only racer to hit 122 kph (76 mph).Im surprised for my performance, said Fill, who took the downhill crystal trophy last season by edging ahead of Svindal, who missed the last five races after crashing at Kitzbuehel, Austria.Austrias slow start is not really my problem, Fill said. They have good skiers. For me, its better that they dont go too fast.Marcel Hirscher, the five-time defending overall World Cup winner, will seek to restore Austrian pride in a giant slalom on Sunday.Val dIsere hosted a World Cup downhill for the first time in 10 seasons. The French resort took over a three-race weekend meeting which was cancelled at Beaver Creek, Colorado, because of lack of snow. The 20-year-old Bennett made history on Thursday when he became the first Canadian selected No. 1 overall in the NBA draft. And when he was introduced by the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Friday, Bennett and his mom talked about a journey that may have seemed improbable. But to them, nothings impossible. "Anyone who sets a goal for themselves and wants to achieve it, you work hard, you can accomplish anything," Edith Bennett said. "So thats what he did." Basketball for Bennett began as a way to keep busy in Jane and Finch, a neighbourhood that has a notorious reputation for its poverty, guns and drugs. "Jane and Finch is what they say is a ghetto but its not," Edith Bennett said. "It depends on the individual. You could grow up in the worst part of the community, that wont stop you. It depends on the person." The single mom moved the family to Brampton when Bennett was 10 to give them a "better life" and get him away from certain friends All the while, Edith Bennett was working two full time nursing jobs, beginning her days at 7 a.m. at a Toronto rehab hospital, and finishing at 11 at night at a psychiatric facility. Her work ethic obviously rubbed off on her son. "Hes a hard worker," Edith said. "Its in the family because I am a hard worker and he saw me work hard and then he said he wanted to do the same, so it motivated him to never stop working, push to the extreme and achieve what he wants." There were no basketball courts where they moved to in Brampton, a newer community of just houses and dirt lots. So it wasnt until six or seven years ago, when his mom signed him up for a club, that he began taking the sport seriously. "I just started growing," Bennett said, through a wide grin. "And everyone said, You should probably play basketball. So I said, All right. Ill give it a shot. Look where it got me now." Look indeed. The six-foot-seven power forward from UNLV topped fellow Brampton native Tristan Thompson -- they grew up less than five minutes from each other -- for top Canadian. Thompson went fourth overall two years ago, also to Cleveland. "Canada basketball is really on the rise right now," Cavs general manager Chris Grant said. "I have a feeling there will be another Canadian picked rather high next year too (Andrew Wiggins). "So theyve done a nice job, kids have grown and become talented, and were excited to be part of tthat. Cheap St. Louis Cardinals Jerseys. Tristan has grown amazingly the last two years and we expect Anthony to do the same thing." Bennetts accomplishment comes in the midst of heady days for Canadian basketball, with Wiggins being touted as the top pick next year -- and more where Wiggins came from. "Its huge," Bennetts agent Mike George said on Thursday nights historical event. "It just shows how far weve come. Weve come from a hockey country, and having this growth within basketball, and you can see by the different guys who are successful in college, and obviously by the pros who are in the NBA now, and this is kind of the pinnacle part where youve got a No. 1 draft pick, first time in Canadian history. "And that could be repeated next year, which is incredible." Bennett, who was the Mountain West Conference player of the year and averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Runnin Rebels, said his strengths are his versatility, his rebounding and his unselfishness. Hes a decent dunker too. The Canadian laughed when asked about a list he used to keep of players hed dunked on. "I just though it was pretty fun to do," Bennett said. "It was between me and my friends growing up in Canada. It went up every game, every game, it kept going. I think I gave it to a year and a half, until I got to like 100. Then I stopped." Hes looking forward to playing alongside Thompson -- although theres a chance he could wind up being the other Canadians backup. "I feel like me and Tristan will become best friends," Bennett said. "Hes going to be my go-to guy just because hes from Canada. Im sure there are lot more guys on that team I can go to, but just because even if Im here in Cleveland or back home in Brampton, I can talk to him anywhere I am." Both Brampton players attended Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, Bennetts mom sending him to the elite basketball school when he was just 16. "To let your son leave, it was very hard, very difficult," Edith Bennett said. Shes happy shell finally be able to make most of his games. "Just a four-hour drive," she said, smiling. Edith Bennett still works two nursing jobs, but only one of them is fulltime now. "Im not going to stop," she said. "I like working, taking care of patients and to see the expression on their face when you do something nice for them." For Anthony Bennett, the next few months will be continuing his gruelling rehab from his shoulder surgery in May. Bennett will miss summer league, but is expected to be back in time for training camp. As for his mom, she still works two nursing jobs, one full-time and the other part-time. NEW YORK -- Captain John Tavares thinks the New York Islanders have room for improvement, even after winning three of four games. We still havent gotten the power play going. Five-on-five certainly good to see a few go in for a lot of guys. ... So build on it and get ready for a tough week coming up.Thomas Greiss stopped 26 shots for his first win in two starts this season.Islanders rookie Anthony Beauvillier had two assists, giving the 19-year-old at least a point in three straight games. He played well, New York coach Jack Capuano said. I think hes going to be a good player in this league for a long time. He just plays with tenacity, grit and determination in his game.New York failed on its lone power play, falling to 1 for 15 on the season.Zach Parise scored twice for Minnesota to top 300 goals for his career, and Nino Niederreiter also scored. Second-string goalie Darcy Kuemper made 27 saves.Trailing 1-0 early in the second period, the Islanders took the lead with three goals 3:08 apart.Tavares got a pass in the slot from Josh Bailey and fired it in for his second of the season at 4:23. Then, de Haan fired a wrist shot from beyond the left faceoff circle past Kuemper for his first of the season 34 seconds later. Boychuk capped the flurry and made it 3-1 at 7:31 when he fired a slap shot from the right point past Kuempers glove side. After getting denied in close by Greiss twice earlier in the period, Parise pulled the Wild within one with 7:23 left. He played the last of his 114 games with Collingwood when the teenage Roo debuted in round 22, 1996.He has been incredibly resilient, hes a very driven footballer that has clearly got the best out of himself and continues to play really strong footy, Richardson said. Our plan is to try to spoil the party in many ways, but at the same time respect how fantastic he has been for the game and for the North Melbourne footy club.Richardson said it was critical his Saints again deliver the fierce pressure that unhinged the Western Bulldogs last round, particularly to deny supply to Norths tall targets Drew Petrie, Ben Brown and the returning Jarrad Waite. Were really pleased the way the backs have been going. he said. The Kangaroos do pose a threat with three big fellows (up forward) and Jarrad back in the team and Drew back in some reasonable form last week.We spoke at the meetings that were going to be undersized if we dont get pressure on the ball.Thats something that has been pleasing, our ability to put pressure on the opposition and were going to need it again. Its the most exciting opportunity weve had. More people looked at me over there [in Germany] than maybe they do here [in England].My team in Wolfsburg was not as good as my team here because we have a few superstars that Wolfsburg didnt have. There it was get the ball to Kevin and well see what happens, and here I can go out of the game for 10 minutes and come back into it. That was never possible in Wolfsburg. But I felt really good at Man City from the beginning. You need to adapt to the team and to the life at home, but I think everythings gone very well from then until now - apart from the injury. I think you can see that on the pitch. PITTSBURGH — If things had fallen a certain way for the Pittsburgh Penguins, their regular-season finale Friday night against the Ottawa Senators at PPG Paints Arena would provide a chance to relax, give their key players light minutes.

Ottawa (28-41-11) is buried in the standings and long ago lost its shot at the postseason.

As it is, the Penguins (46-29-6) are still jockeying for playoff position despite a 5-4 overtime win Thursday at Columbus. Pittsburgh could face the Blue Jackets, Philadelphia , New Jersey or Washington in the first round.

The Penguins cannot catch Washington for first place in the Metropolitan Division, but several players have said recently they would like to secure home-ice advantage for at least the first round.

That is understandable considering Pittsburgh is 29-9-2 at home.

“I think we need to win again to get home ice, but it was a good win for us (in Columbus),” said winger Phil Kessel, whose second goal of the game was the winner in overtime against the Blue Jackets.

A win Friday would lock up second place in the division, securing home ice Cheap Josh Allen Jersey , although the Penguins’ opponent won’t necessarily be clear. Pittsburgh is the only NHL team that doesn’t play Saturday, the league’s final day of the season, so it will only be able to watch things unfold depending on what happens against Ottawa.

It’s expected that Penguins center Derick Brassard will miss his fifth game because of a lower-body injury.

The Senators, who ended a three-game losing streak Wednesday with a 4-2 win at Buffalo, haven’t been concerned about a playoff berth for a long time. In fact, that win helped ensure they won’t finish last overall in the NHL.

At this point Chad Thomas Color Rush Jersey , the question for them is where they will end up in the draft lottery, but the focus has been on this final road trip.

“We’re all professional athletes and we all have a lot of pride,” defenseman Mark Borowiecki told the Ottawa Sun. “We’re all wired to compete, and you don’t want to finish last. I take a lot of pride in being an NHL player, and I don’t want to go into the summer saying we’re the worst team in the NHL.”

With a final game Saturday at Boston, Ottawa held its final practice of the season Thursday at PPG Paints Arena.

“We’re going to give our very best in the last two games , knowing full well that those two games are going to be very difficult — not just the fact that they’re on the road, but we’re playing against high-end teams,” Senators coach Guy Boucher said.

Boucher said goaltender Craig Anderson will start against Pittsburgh, and winger Bobby Ryan is expected to play after he left Wednesday’s game because of a lower-body issue.

But winger Marion Gaborik had surgery Thursday in Los Angeles to repair a herniated disk, and winger Mark Stone is being shut down after he was not able to recover sufficiently from a high ankle sprain.

It is unclear whether defenseman Erik Karlsson might join the Senators for one or both games. He has played just one game since the March 19 death of his son, and his timetable has been left to him.

The Patriots have had a knack for getting sometimes unexpected production out of late-round draft picks and undrafted free agents during Bill Belichick’s tenure.

From Tom Brady to Julian Edelman to Danny Amendola to last season’s Super Bowl star James White , the list is long and lauded.

This season has been no exception with 2011 seventh-round draft pick Lawrence Guy and Ricky Jean Francois, a seventh-round pick in 2009, each providing contributions that have helped solidify New England’s defensive line that has thrived during the second half of 2017.

The Patriots want to make life as miserable as possible for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

It puts the spotlight on Guy and Jean Francois, with Deatrich Wise (concussion) and Malcolm Brown (foot) both dealing with injuries.

Guy said experiencing his first Super Bowl has validated the path he took to get here.

”My journey’s still going,” he said. ”I wasn’t thinking about this a couple of years ago. I was just thinking about doing what I could do to play harder and harder, study film and stay on the team and contribute. But now I’m blessed to be here.”

Guy started 15 games during the regular season at either defensive tackle or defensive end, and he’s started both playoff games.

Jean Francois appeared in six games after signing with the Patriots in early November and started New England’s AFC championship game win while playing defensive end.

”My appreciation is high for this,” said Jean Francois, 31, who came to the Patriots following stops in San Francisco, Indianapolis , Washington and Green Bay. ”I’m having fun. Clowning around with my teammates. Sitting down, watching film. Just appreciating the moment.”

Jean Francois will be getting his second shot at a Super Bowl. He was on the 49ers team that lost to Baltimore in the Super Bowl to cap the 2012 season. It’s an opportunity he acknowledged he wasn’t sure he’d get again.

”It’s crazy. I never thought there’d be a point when I’d be starting in the AFC championship game again,” Jean Francois said.

”I started in one for the Colts (2014 season), but the next year I was gone. But to be on a team like this and be able to start again in a short period of time. That shows you how much trust and how much I had to do to be in that position.”

Since starting with Green Bay in 2011, each of Guy’s subsequent stops in Indianapolis and San Diego ended with him getting waived. He had his longest run after being picked up by Baltimore in 2014. He played 11 games for the Ravens in 2014, and appeared in every game over the next two seasons.

The Patriots grabbed him in free agency last March, signing him to a four-year, $20 million deal. He’s had one of his best seasons so far, starting 15 games and finishing with a career-best 34 tackles and a sack.

Guy said he’s never been deterred by the ”ups and downs” he’s experienced.

”It can happen at the beginning of your career, it can happen at the end of your career. But sooner or later you’re probably gonna get waived here and there,” he said.

Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia says Guy’s attention to detail has allowed him to play several different positions in the Patriots’ system. Patricia said Guy’s been able to help not only against the run , but he’s been able to transition ”into a little bit more pass rush into the pocket and push and be up in the quarterback’s face.”

Even in his sixth season, Guy said he’s tried to keep learning from older players around him.

”Everything I’ve gone through made me more of a man and made me better as a player,” Guy said.

”To experience this type of week is great. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime situation that you can never get back.”

Seattle Mariners All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano was suspended 80 games for violating baseball’s joint drug agreement.

The league announced Cano’s suspension, a stunning development for the stalwart in the middle of the Mariners’ lineup and a club expected to contend for a postseason spot in the American League. Cano tested positive for Furosemide, a diuretic. In a statement released through the players’ association, Cano said, ”This substance was given to me by a licensed doctor in the Dominican Republic to treat a medical ailment.” He said he didn’t realize it was banned.

Cano is the most prominent player to be busted since Melky Cabrera was suspended in 2012 while leading the National League in hitting. There have been 36 players suspended this year under the minor league drug program and six in addition to Cano under the big league program: Houston pitcher Dean Deetz, Washington catcher Raudy Read, Pittsburgh pitcher Nik Turley, Kansas City outfielder Jorge Bonifacio, Toronto pitcher Thomas Pannone and Minnesota shortstop Jorge Polanco.

CHICAGO (AP) – Phoenix has won the No. 1 pick in next month’s NBA draft.

It’s the first time the Suns will have the chance to make the first overall selection. The Suns had the right combination of pingpong balls pop up for them at the draft lottery on Tuesday night, a reward of sorts after a season where Phoenix had the NBA’s worst record at 21-61.

Phoenix lost a coin flip for the top pick in 1969 to Milwaukee. The Bucks took Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Suns took Neal Walk.

Sacramento will pick No. 2 and Atlanta got the No. 3 pick – both of them moving up to get there. The top three spots were determined by the lottery, and then spots 4-14 fell in line of reverse order of record.

TORONTO — The Detroit Tigers will be trying to avoid making more history Sunday afternoon when they face the Toronto Blue Jays on Canada Day at the Rogers Centre.

After Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak smacked a 1-0 fastball from Joe Jimenez for his second career walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday , the Tigers have lost 11 games in a row.

The last time the Tigers put together a losing streak like that was 2003. On Sunday, in the third contest of the four-game series, the Tigers will be trying to avoid dipping deeper into their history by losing 12 in a row for the first time since 1996.

The Tigers will start right-hander Jordan Zimmermann (2-0, 4.35 ERA) against Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ (10-3, 3.62).

Saturday looked promising for the Tigers when they took a 3-0 lead in the third inning, but the Blue Jays came back to tie in the fifth.

Both Toronto wins in the series have been by one run.

“Honestly, nobody wants to play extra innings,” Smoak said. “To be able to do it in the ninth and get it over with is always a good feeling.”

The Tigers would beg to differ. They would have been happy to try their luck in extra innings if that’s what it takes to end their funk.

“We’re all trying hard,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. “Everybody’s trying. We tried all kinds of things today to try to make this happen. And we were in the game again and ultimately we lose the ballgame.”

The Blue Jays have dominated the Tigers at the Rogers Centre in recent years, winning 12 of their past 14 meetings.

There could be times when it seems as if the Tigers might be trying a little too hard to make things happen and then paying for it. First baseman John Hicks, who hit his seventh home run of the season in the second inning Saturday , was not so sure that is the case.

“I don’t think guys are trying to do anything more than we’ve been trying to do all year,” he said. “We’re in a losing streak, but we’re going out every day playing the same way we’ve been playing all year. But when you are losing, things get magnified.”

Losing a close game or a lopsided one does not matter, Hicks said, adding “A loss is a loss.

“They all stink, every loss is frustrating. It just happens to be in a losing streak, so it happens to magnify things more. We’ve had opportunities to win pretty much every ballgame we’ve lost.”

The task Sunday falls to Zimmermann, who will make his 10th start of the season.

Despite pitching five scoreless innings Monday against the Oakland Athletics, Zimmermann did not factor in the decision, He allowed four hits and three walks and struck out three.

In three career starts against the Blue Jays Ed Dickson Color Rush Jersey , Zimmermann is 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA. This will be his first start against Toronto since June 8, 2016, when he took the loss, giving up seven runs and eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. He will be making his first career start at the Rogers Centre.

Happ has not lost since May 10. In his eight starts since, he is 6-0 with a 2.60 ERA. One of the no-decisions came June 2 in Detroit when he allowed four runs and had eight strikeouts against the Tigers in five innings.

In nine career games (eight starts) against the Tigers, he is 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA.

The Blue Jays lead the season series between the teams 3-2. Two games are left.

Both teams had injuries to relief pitchers Saturday. The Blue Jays put Ryan Tepera on the 10-day disabled list with inflammation in his right elbow and recalled Jake Petricka from Triple-A Buffalo.

Tigers reliever Alex Wilson left the game — and was replaced by Jimenez — in the eighth inning with a strained left calf. He is listed as day to day.

OAKLAND, Calif. — Two teams that began heading in opposite directions at just about the time they saw each other last month hook up again when the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics open a two-game interleague series Tuesday night.

The Padres were within arm’s length of .500 at 34-40, having won nine of 15, when the A’s ventured into San Diego and used a ninth-inning, two-out, two-strike , game-tying home run from Stephen Piscotty off relief ace Brad Hand to trigger a two-game sweep, winning 4-2 and 12-4.

The Padres now head north well out of contention in the National League West, having lost 11 of 14.

The A’s, meanwhile, have won 12 of 15 to surge well above .500 at 46-39 and into contention in the American League wild-card race.

Oakland has made much of its recent run without standout third baseman Matt Chapman, who has taken time off to allow pain in his right hand to subside.

Two cortisone shots later, Chapman had a pain-free hitting session Sunday and was sent to Class A for an injury-rehab game Monday.

It’s possible he could be reinstated from the disabled list during this series.

“He hit a few off the back wall in center field, so that tells me enough,” A’s manager Bob Melvin observed Sunday. “Getting him back in the lineup will be a nice little kick for us.”

The A’s need no such boost in their pitching. They have allowed two or fewer runs in four of their last five games.

Right-hander Chris Bassitt (1-3, 2.82 ERA) will look to extend that impressive run while at the same time taste his first career success in interleague play.

The 29-year-old began the A’s recent pitching showcase with six innings of two-hit, scoreless ball in a 3-0 win at Detroit last Wednesday.

He has never faced the Padres in his career Mitch Haniger Seattle Mariners Jersey , and has lost both interleague starts despite a 2.45 ERA.

One intriguing potential matchup in the series is A’s closer Blake Treinen against Padres slugger Eric Hosmer, a pairing that carried a bit of history into a game-ending showdown in the A’s earlier 4-2 win in San Diego.

Then a member of the Kansas City Royals, Hosmer bombed a two-run, go-ahead homer off Treinen in the eighth inning of their first career head-to-head last August.

Treinen then extracted a measure of revenge in the June 19 rematch in San Diego, closing out the 10-inning game by striking out Hosmer as he represented the potential tying run.

Bassitt will be opposed by left-hander Clayton Richard (7-7, 4.29), who had a four-game winning streak stopped in a 5-2 loss at Texas last Wednesday.

He retains a good interleague record (9-5, 3.50) despite not having beaten an American League opponent since 2015.

You have to go back three years before that to find his last appearance against the A’s in Oakland, but it was a memorable one. He shut out a playoff-bound A’s team for 7 2/3 innings in 2012, allowing five hits in a 2-1 win.

He has faced the A’s three times in his career, twice as a starter , and gone 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA.

One A’s hitter that Richard will have to deal with is the aforementioned Piscotty, who played last season for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Piscotty has dominated the head-to-heads, going 3-for-4 with a home run and a flyout to deep center field in the only non-hit of the matchup.

A’s catcher Jonathan Lucroy, another former National Leaguer, also has a successful history against Richard, going 7-for-18 (.389) with two doubles and a homer.
