CBS Sports has hired former referee Gene Steratore as a rules analyst for its NFL broadcasts.

Steratore retired this offseason after leading the officiating crew at the Super Bowl in Minneapolis. He says that after 15 years of officiating in the NFL Ryan Tannehill Jersey , "it's time to hang up my whistle for a new challenge."

CBS Sports announced Tuesday that Steratore would provide analysis in New York on Sundays throughout the NFL season. He will join announcers in the booth for its Thanksgiving and NFL playoff coverage, including the Super Bowl, which is in Atlanta next year.

Steratore also will provide analysis during CBS Sports' college basketball coverage, including the NCAA men's championship. He started officiating college basketball in 1997 and finished as a Big Ten primary official.

Says Sean McManus, chairman of CBS Sports Jerry Hughes Jersey , "His strong communication skills combined with his knowledge of the rules will allow him to quickly interpret and explain the calls, giving viewers a better understanding of the rules and enhancing our overall coverage."

Lucas Giolito was rolling, feeling as comfortable as he has all season. It was just what the White Sox needed.

Giolito pitched into the eighth inning before Xavier Cedeno worked out of a jam, and Chicago snapped an eight-game losing streak by beating the Oakland Athletics 6-4 Friday night to salvage a doubleheader split.

The White Sox bounced back after getting pounded 11-2 behind a pair of three-run homers by Franklin Barreto. They stopped their worst skid since a nine-game rut last July and ended Oakland’s season-high win streak at five.

”Definitely the best I felt out there this year, for sure DeShone Kizer Jersey ,” Giolito said. ”I think velocity was up a tick. Just felt right, felt in sync and just competed from there.”

Chicago was sailing along with a 5-2 lead when Giolito gave up back-to-back singles to Dustin Fowler and Marcus Semien to start the eighth. Jace Fry came in and walked pinch-hitter Stephen Piscotty to load the bases before Chris Volstad gave up a two-run single to Khris Davis, cutting it to 5-4.

Cedeno then got Matt Olson to line to shortstop Tim Anderson and struck out Mark Canha before Chad Pinder grounded into a force.

”We just came up one at-bat short in terms of at least tying the game that inning,” Oakland manager Bob Melvin said.

Anderson led off the bottom half with his 12th homer to make it a two-run game. Omar Narvaez chipped in with three hits and two RBIs for Chicago. Adam Engel hit a two-run single and played a sparkling center field. He made a diving catch on Pinder’s liner in the second and fired a strike to nail Pinder trying to take third on Barreto’s fly in the seventh.

Joakim Soria retired all three batters in the ninth for his 11th save in 13 opportunities.

Giolito (5-7) allowed four runs and seven hits in a rare home win. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out eight and walked two after going 1-4 with an 11.05 ERA in his first seven starts at Guaranteed Rate Field.

”A lot more conviction in his pitches,” manager Rick Renteria said.

Olson went deep for Oakland T.J. McDonald Jersey , giving the Athletics home runs in 23 consecutive road games – one shy of the modern day record set by Baltimore in 1996. But Chris Bassitt (0-3) got tagged for five runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Barreto’s big performance in the opener came after he hit a three-run drive in Wednesday’s romp at San Diego.

He connected against James Shields to cap a four-run second inning and off Luis Avilan in the eighth . Barreto’s first career multihomer game gave him a personal-best six RBIs.

It was quite a display for a player who had just two home runs prior to this run. Both came against the White Sox in 2017, including a drive against Shields (2-9) at Guaranteed Rate Field in his first major league game.

”We all know he’s got that in him,” Melvin said. ”It’s just about getting him some consistent at-bats. When he’s swinging the bat well, he’s definitely capable of doing that.”

Sean Manaea (7-6) went seven innings, allowing one run and five hits. The 26-year-old left-hander struck out seven without a walk in winning his second straight start.

Shields has dropped back-to-back outings after beating Cleveland for his first victory since opening day. The right-hander gave up eight runs – two earned – and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Athletics: The Athletics activated LF Matt Joyce (strained lower back) from the 10-day disabled list and optioned OF Jake Smolinski to Triple-A Nashville. Joyce started the second game after being held out of the opener. … 3B Matt Chapman (bruised right thumb) received a cortisone injection Tuesday. Manager Bob Melvin said the earliest he will be activated is Monday Amara Darboh Jersey , when the Athletics open a four-game series at Detroit. … Melvin also expects LHP Ryan Buchter (strained left shoulder) to be activated during the Detroit series. … LHP Brett Anderson (strained left shoulder) is scheduled to throw about four innings and 60 pitches in a rehab outing for Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

White Sox: The White Sox activated RF Avisail Garcia (strained right hamstring) and LF Leury Garcia (sprained left knee). Both players started Game 1 but were not in the lineup for the nightcap.

Athletics: RHP Daniel Mengden (6-6, 4.06 ERA) looks to break out of a slump after going 0-2 with a 10.05 ERA in his first three starts this month.

White Sox: RHP Dylan Covey (3-2, 2.90) will try to rebound from a loss at Cleveland on Monday.

LOS ANGELES — The Pittsburgh Pirates headed north by bus Sunday evening to see if the roller-coaster ride will continue.

Fresh off a series victory at San Diego Rob Gronkowski Jersey , capped by a 7-5 victory Sunday, the Pirates are now in Los Angeles for the first of three games Monday, having won four of their last six games.

That winning run came after a five-game losing streak. The five games before that? The Pirates won four of them.

The Dodgers have been a bit steadier of late, going 17-9 in June to keep pace with the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. But the end of June was a bit of a struggle as the Dodgers lost four of their last five before the calendar flipped. They opened July with a 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Not only did the Dodgers’ offense take off in June, to the tune of 55 home runs to set a franchise record for a month, the pitching staff got healthy again … literally.

Alex Wood (4-5, 4.00 ERA) will take the mound Monday, looking and feeling much better after nagging leg cramps early in the year.

Wood went seven innings against the Chicago Cubs in his last outing Wednesday, his longest start since his season debut on March 30 when he worked eight innings against the San Francisco Giants.

An All-Star for the first time last season, Wood is once again starting to look like the pitcher who can rise to the occasion on a nightly basis.

“I’m still looking for consistency out of my sinker Lavonte David Jersey , but the breaking ball was a lot better,” Wood told reporters after his most recent start. “Overall, it was pretty good.”

The Dodgers also have Clayton Kershaw back recently from a lower back injury and Rich Hill returned from a blister on his left middle finger. Both left-handers will face the Pirates this week.

Pittsburgh announced Sunday that Nick Kingham (2-3, 3.82) will start the series opener at Dodger Stadium. He will take the spot of Chad Kuhl, who is on the DL with a forearm strain.

The Pirates (40-43) know that getting some length on their current winning ways can get them to .500 soon, possibly by the All-Star break that starts in two weeks.

“We’re starting to show a little bit of resiliency here the last week or so,” Pirates infielder Josh Harrison said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “A team that (is) not making any excuses, which is refreshing because at the end of the day we know what we have to do and that’s come to show up every day.

“It’s been some ups and downs, but every team goes through ups and downs Chris Hogan Jersey , and a lot of guys here are riding that wave of knowing that any day can be that day that we turn it around.”

Wood is 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Pirates. He has not faced Pittsburgh since last season. Kingham, a rookie, has not pitched against the Dodgers in any of his first six appearances.

Even though they could have, and maybe should have, seen it coming, Raiders players seemed to be double-eyepatch blindsided by the trade that sent defensive end Khalil Mack to Chicago. But their quarterback says the players have processed the shock and awfulness, essentially because they have no other choice.

“I think, obviously, we had the day off that day and so that made it harder because I’m just sitting there thinking about it all day,” Carr told reporters on Monday Kyle Murphy Jersey , via “Whereas now, I’ve got a job to do. Once we showed up and got to work, Coach [Gruden] addressed it with the team, said what he said, invited anyone who needed to talk to him, open door. He understood that a lot of us were close with [Mack].”

So what did Gruden tell Carr?

“It’s one of those situations that sucks — we lost our friend, we lost our brother, but we have games to win, we’ve got a job to do,” Carr said.聽“And I think that’s the mark of Mr. [Reggie] McKenzie and Coach Gruden bringing in the right kind of people . . . handle it like men. You don’t have to like it or agree with it Garry Gilliam Jersey , but we’re paid to win games.”

It’s one thing to bring in the right people. It’s another thing to keep the right people. Whatever Gruden’s cockeyed explanation and justification for not paying Mack, the market is what it is, the cap is what it is, and the Raiders are getting $750 million in free money to build a stadium in Las Vegas. If the Raiders wanted to keep Mack, the Raiders could have kept Mack.

Consider Chicago’s perspective. They paid Mack and gave up a pair of first-round picks (with shuffling of lower-round choices), for a guy who never played for them. So either the Bears are nuts for giving up the money and the picks, or the Raiders are nuts for not giving up the money.

Of course, given that they each have a single playoff appearance over the last decade, there’s a chance the right answer is both.

The Vikings have one of the best one-two combinations at receiver in all of football. Behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs Kyle Williams Jersey , however, it’s not clear who will step up on the depth chart in 2018.

Jarius Wright was cut, and the team signed Kendall Wright with the idea that he will replace Jarius in the slot. In a Wednesday visit to PFT Live, Diggs explained that former first-rounder Laquon Treadwell and second-year product Stacy Coley have looked good during offseason workouts.

Tight end Kyle Rudolph enhances the pass-catching corps, and Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen recently explained on the #PFTPM podcast that the Vikings have high hopes for Central Michigan fifth-round rookie tight end Tyler Conklin.

To hear everything Diggs had to say about the team’s receivers and everything else that came up, check out the video of his appearance.

Jackie Bradley Jr. never doubted he would pull out of his slump, even as he hit .167 in June and fell further down Boston’s batting order.

He kept putting in the work. Kept tinkering with his stance and his swing. Kept believing he would snap out of it.

”You have to trust that what you’re doing is going to produce results Tramon Williams Jersey ,” Bradley said after his second straight three-hit game helped the Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-1 on Tuesday night.

”If it doesn’t early on, it’s a long season,” said Bradley, who batted ninth and drove in four runs. ”You’ve just got to continue to grind. There’s no other way.”

Mookie Betts homered on John Lamb’s first pitch of the game, and J.D. Martinez hit his major league-leading 24th home run to back David Price’s six strong innings and lead the Red Sox to their fourth win in the last five games. The Angels lost their fourth straight game.

Christian Vazquez also hit one of Boston’s four homers to help Price (9-5) bounce back from his previous loss on Wednesday in Minnesota that was his first since May 3. He allowed five hits on Tuesday, including a solo homer to Chris Young, and two walks while striking out seven.

Bradley has now had back-to-back multi-hit games after producing just five in his previous 68 games this season. He had three hits Justin Jones Jersey , all singles, against Seattle on Sunday but still entered the night hitting .189.

”We all want the results now,” Bradley said. ”Sometimes the game’s a lot tougher than that. You can do everything right and still be out.”

Two-time AL MVP Mike Trout, who began the game batting .387 in June, singled in four at-bats for the Angels while serving as designated hitter to aid his recovery from a sprained right index finger. The Angels went hitless in their last three innings against Boston’s bullpen and fell into fourth place in the AL West for the first time since opening day.

Betts’ homer into the Red Sox bullpen sent right fielder Michael Hermosillo crashing over the wall in pursuit. It was his 15h career leadoff homer, extending his franchise record.

”Trying to set the tone against a good team,” Betts said. ”Just letting them know we’re here and we’re ready to go.”

Lamb (0-1) got just five outs. He allowed five runs De'Anthony Thomas Jersey , three earned, on six hits and a pair of walks.

He escaped more damage in the first after Betts’ 20th homer of the season, then was removed in the second after giving up Bradley’s two-run double and two more run-scoring hits.

”It was just a nice welcome to Fenway ballpark I guess by one of the better baseball players in the game right now,” Lamb said. ”I tried to get ahead on the outside part of the plate and they went ahead in the run column.”

Deck McGuire needed just one pitch to end that inning, but he surrendered solo homers to Bradley in the third and Vazquez in the fifth before Martinez hit one in the sixth that made it 8-1.

Price only had trouble in the third, when Young homered and then the Angels loaded the bases with two out on two singles, a wild pitch and a walk. He retired Albert Pujols on a grounder to third to end the inning.

”Pujols can tie the game at that point Paul Krause Jersey ,” Price said. ”To get that ground ball is big.”

Angels: McGuire was checked out by the team athletic trainer after Christian Vazquez lined a ball up the middle in the third inning, but he remained in the game.

Red Sox: Knuckleballer Steven Wright was put on the 10-day DL with left knee inflammation, and RHP reliever Justin Haley was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Angels: LHP Andrew Heaney (4-5, 3.43 ERA) gets his first start since going seven innings and allowing one earned run on Friday against Toronto. Heaney has pitched at least seven innings in three of his last four starts.

Red Sox: RHP Rick Porcello (9-3, 3.44) has allowed two earned runs or less in four of his last five starts, holding the Twins to one hit over seven scoreless innings in his last turn on Thursday.

Spotting opponents an early lead hasn’t been a problem lately for Anthony Rizzo and the Chicago Cubs.

Rizzo drove in his second run of the game in the seventh inning to snap a tie Anthony Averett Jersey , Kyle Schwarber followed with a solo homer in the eighth and the Cubs rebounded from an early three-run deficit to edge the Detroit Tigers 5-3 on Tuesday for their fifth straight win.

The other team has scored first in each of Chicago’s recent victories, but the Cubs have kept chipping away.

”We know we’re a good team,” Rizzo said. ”We just have to string together good at-bats.”

The Cubs did just that again on Tuesday.

With one out in the seventh, Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist singled off Tigers reliever Daniel Stumpf (1-4). Rizzo’s slow bouncer up the middle resulted in a force of Zobrist at second, but Jose Iglesias’ throw to first was too late to double up Rizzo and Heyward scored from third to put Chicago ahead for the first time, 4-3.

Schwarber hit his team-leading 17th homer to right against a steady wind off Lake Michigan in the eighth.

Trailing 3-0, Albert Almora, Jr. and Heyward each drove in a run with a double, then Rizzo followed with an RBI single in Chicago’s three-run fifth.

Rizzo has just one homer in his past 20 games – and 12 this season – after launching at least 31 in each of the past four seasons. But the Cubs slugger says the longball isn’t always the best approach.

”You get down and start battling (at) two strikes, it’s not about hitting a homer,” Rizzo said. ”It’s just about putting the ball in play and we’re doing a good job at that.”

Justin Wilson (3-2), the second of Chicago’s four relievers, pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win. Pedro Strop pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save in four chances.

The Cubs’ bullpen allowed just one hit after starter Kyle Hendricks labored through five innings Jarvis Jenkins Jersey , allowing three runs and seven hits in a no-decision. In his past six starts, the right-hander is 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA.

”They didn’t beat him up by any means today,” manager Joe Maddon said. ”It’s just that it wasn’t a typical surgeon-like procedure from Kyle. He looks good, he’s just not executing.”

Detroit leadoff hitter Mikie Mahtook had three singles and scored a run. Niko Goodrum drove in a run with a double, and Jeimer Candelario and James McCann each had an RBI as the Tigers lost their 12th game in their past 14.

Tigers starter Michael Fulmer went six innings and allowed three runs – all in the fifth – and seven hits.

”He had really good stuff,” manager Ron Gardenhire said. ”He got a couple of pitches up a bit, but they kind of put them in the right place.

”It wasn’t like they were lashing them, but they put them on the outfield grass, kind of like what we did to them early.”

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. After Mahtook and Nick Castellanos led off with singles, Candelario drove in a run with a groundout. Goodrum’s double to the right-field corner scored the second run.

The Tigers added a run in the fourth on McCann’s RBI single.

The Cubs tied it 3-all in the fifth. Pinch-hitter Tommy LaStella, Almora and Heyward led off with consecutive doubles to cut it to 3-2, then Rizzo’s hit with one out tied it.

INF/OF Jim Adduci, called up from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday Mark Bavaro Jersey , was in Detroit’s lineup at first base and singled and scored in his first game this season. The 33-year-old attended Evergreen Park High School in Chicago’s south suburbs and grew up a fan of both the Cubs and White Sox. Adduci’s father, also named Jim, played a total of 70 games with three major league teams in the 1980s and was at Wrigley Field on Tuesday.

Cubs: INF/OF Kris Bryant (left shoulder inflammation) probably will return Wednesday or Friday, Maddon said after the game. The Cubs star has been sidelined since June 22. … RHP Yu Darvish (right triceps inflammation, right elbow impingement/inflammation) rejoined the Cubs after seeing Dr. Keith Meister in Texas on Friday and getting a cortisone shot. Maddon said he still hadn’t yet talked to the right-hander about his progress following the injection.

Tigers LHP Francisco Liriano (3-4. 3.99) takes the mound against Cubs LHP Jose Quintana (6-6. 4.31) on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of the two-game interleague set. Liriano has lost both of his starts since coming off the disabled list (right hamstring strain) on June 23. Quintana has two losses and three no-decisions in his past five starts and hasn’t won since May 31.

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with Danielle Hunter, making him one of the top 10 highest-paid defensive ends in the NFL while securing another core player before he could reach free agency.

The deal, which was done on Wednesday, is worth up to $72 million, according to a person with knowledge of the contract who spoke on condition of anonymity because the terms weren't disclosed by the team.

The deal includes $40 million in guaranteed money, with a $15 million signing bonus. The annual average worth is more than $14 million, on par with fellow Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen.

"I had to get this out of the way," Hunter said, acknowledging relief to have signed before training camp. "I didn't want to be bothered by anything."

Hunter has 25陆 sacks Chris Godwin Jersey , three forced fumbles and two recovered fumbles in three seasons, after being drafted in the third round in 2015 out of LSU. Still only 23 years old, Hunter was a top priority to retain at a premium position. Griffen is 30, and primary backup Brian Robison is 35.

"Just looking forward to getting him locked in and what he's going to continue to bring not only to this defense and this football team, but also the type of character that he brings," general manager Rick Spielman said.

Over those past three seasons, Hunter and Griffen have combined for 57 sacks, the second most by a pair of teammates in the league behind Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap of the Cincinnati Bengals (58).

The pass rush and run defense provided by these bookends has been a significant part of coach Mike Zimmer's unit that gave up the fewest points and yards in the NFL last season.

"We build a bond together on defense," Hunter said. "We go out there, we know we're brothers. We fight together. We do our assignments. On and off the field we're really, really close.

Hunter was third in the NFL with 12陆 sacks in 2016, the most by a defensive end. Born in Jamaica and raised just outside of Houston, the 6-foot-5 Austin Hooper Jersey , 252-pound Hunter was a classic late bloomer the Vikings targeted with confidence he'd continue to develop with the right coaching to complement his measurable physical skills. Spielman and his scouts have been proven right with that pick.

"I kind of came in with the mindset of just playing football. I had a whole bunch of people in front of me, older guys that were able to show me the way, good coaches and a good coaching staff," Hunter said. "The only thing I could do is just come in here and focus and play football."

The Vikings extended middle linebacker Eric Kendricks earlier this offseason. Outside linebacker Anthony Barr and wide receiver Stefon Diggs are their other two standouts on expiring contracts, with space under the salary cap dwindling. Signing both of them to new long-term deals might not be possible.

They're plenty happy to at least have Hunter around well into the next decade, though. According to statistics compiled by Vikings coaches, Hunter also has 125 quarterback hurries and 147 total tackles. He has never missed an NFL game to injury, with his only two absences coming in 2015 when he was on the inactive list in the first month of his rookie year.

"It's all about keep continuing to improve my game. I've got to go out there and do what the coaches tell me to do. Now that I have this I can't relax," Hunter said. "I have to keep pounding and grinding."

Continuity paid off for the Los Angeles Rams' offense last season Zay Jones Jersey , starting with the same offensive line combination that played together in all but one game.

It certainly did for running back Todd Gurley, who signed a four-year, $60 million contract extension in July after running for 1,305 yards and scoring 19 total touchdowns last season behind that familiar front five.

"Whoever said money don't make you happy lied," Gurley said with a smile Wednesday.

The Rams expect even greater stability on offense to translate into continued success in head coach Sean McVay's second season, a belief that has been reinforced during the start of training camp.

At this same stage last year, the Rams were working in new additions at left tackle, center and wide receiver while learning the basics of a new offense, and were still weeks away from trading for wide receiver Sammy Watkins. They return 10 of 11 starters for this year's workouts at UC Irvine, with new acquisition Brandin Cooks replacing Watkins as the big play threat in the passing game.

Quarterback Jared Goff said the familiarity is paying dividends Ryan Jensen Jersey , especially during the transition from teaching the offense in the first few days to refining each element of a system that produced an NFL-leading 29.9 points per game.

"We feel like we're in a good spot," Goff said. "Offensively, we've been starting to click. I think today was the first day you really felt that consistency starting to gel. We're not so much installing anymore, we're running the same plays over and over again and starting to get a good feel with it."

"It makes everyone so much more comfortable just to come out here and just play our game. You don't have to think about too much, and that's what it is all about," Gurley said.

For Goff, his increased comfort level entering his second season as the starter manifests in a better understanding of what opposing defenses are trying to do.

"It just continues to slow down," Goff said. "Your pre-snap process is a lot smoother, and you're more under control of everything and are seeing things better."

While Goff is playing faster, there has been no deceleration by Gurley after signing a contract featuring the most guaranteed money for a running back in NFL history. Goff and McVay both praised his relentlessness in practice Chris Jones Jersey , with a prime example coming when Gurley kept running towards the end zone as McVay was setting up the next play in the sequence.

"I got what I want, now let's keep going," Gurley said. "Nothing doesn't stop. The grind continues. It's going to be even harder now, obviously, to be able to do what I did last year, and teams are going to game plan for it. It's my job to go out there, put myself in a great position and try to work as hard as I can. As long as I do that, I feel comfortable with the players around me and the coaches around me to put me in a great position."

With so much familiarity returning, Gurley is ready to build on his best season to date. But he understands his individual production is the result of what the offense does together, declaring that every running back is the beneficiary of the blocking he gets before Gurley backtracked.

"Obviously Kyler Fackrell Jersey , Barry Sanders is going to do what he do, but it doesn't matter what other running back you have back there. If you don't have all 11 doing one thing, then it's not going to work," he said.

NOTES: Outside linebacker Matt Longacre left practice early because of an undisclosed injury. . Kicker Greg Zuerlein made a 63-yard field goal during a simulated two-minute drill.

Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Rick Brunson abruptly resigned Tuesday and the team said he had fallen short of meeting its ”high standards of conduct” amid reports he had acted improperly toward women.

The Timberwolves announced Brunson’s resignation in a one-sentence release and later sent a statement about the 45-year-old former NBA player.

”Our entire organization – made up of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Minnesota Lynx and Iowa Wolves- is deeply committed to creating a safe work environment for our employees, partners and fans,” the team said. ”We work to maintain high standards of conduct and expect our staff to lead by example. We did not believe Mr. Brunson’s conduct was consistent with those standards.”

The Star Tribune, citing a source it did not identify, reported Brunson had been the subject of complaints of improper conduct toward women. The Athletic also reported that he was accused of improper conduct toward women while on the job. The Timberwolves did not return phone calls seeking additional comment and the NBA did not respond to a message.

In 2014, Brunson was arrested in suburban Chicago and charged with sexually assaulting a massage therapist. He was acquitted of all counts in that case Jeremiah Attaochu Jersey , saying he had an ongoing extramarital affair with the woman.

The Timberwolves hired Brunson in 2016, and last season was his fourth working under coach Tom Thibodeau, who helped the team reach the NBA playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Brunson had previous assistant coaching jobs with the Denver Nuggets, Charlotte and Chicago, where he worked under Thibodeau.

Brunson played in the NBA for nine years, including stops in New York and Houston. He made it to the playoffs in five of his nine seasons, and was a member of the 1999 Eastern Conference champion New York Knicks, who lost to San Antonio in the finals.

Brunson is the father of Jalen Brunson, The Associated Press men’s college basketball player of the year who declared for the NBA draft last month after winning two national titles at Villanova. The star guard averaged 18.9 points and 4.6 assists per game in 40 games for the Wildcats this season.

Not that long ago Derrick Nnadi Jersey , the Chicago Cubs probably viewed a series against the Cincinnati Reds as a near-guaranteed way to pick up some quick victories and gain some ground in the National League Central standings.

Those days have changed. And so is the Cubs-Reds rivalry.

The Cubs couldn’t hold a multi-run lead for the second straight night, and the Reds won their fifth in a row and eighth in 10 games — quite a run for a team that played .250 ball for the first month-plus of the season — by rallying for a 6-3 victory on Friday night.

Now, the Cubs are expected to ask their bullpen to carry them through the third game of the four-game series Saturday at Great American Ball Park — a series that isn’t going much like most of those Cubs-Reds matchups for the last four seasons.

Going into the series, the Cubs were 43-19 against the Reds since 2015, but the Reds are playing much differently now than they did when they were 8-27 on May 7. They’re 4-0 on their current homestand, even though they still remain well below .500 at 30-45.

“Even when we were losing, they (his veteran players) felt like, ‘We’re a good ballclub Jordan Matthews Jersey , we’re going to get our share (of wins),'” Reds interim manager Jim Riggleman said. “(When) we’re on a roll like this, they feel like we’re just going to keep going with it.”

Eugenio Suarez lifted his average to .304 by going 3-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning off Jose Quintana (6-6) and Joey Votto had two hits and an RBI. Quintana gave up four runs and nine hits in five innings.

“We’re playing really good baseball,” Suarez said. “We’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing — and keep winning. If we play like this, something good is going to happen.”

The Cubs scored three times against Reds starter Luis Castillo (5-8) in 5 2/3 innings — Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run homer in the fourth — but former Cleveland Indians pitcher Kyle Crockett pitched out of a two-on jam in the sixth in his Reds debut.

The Cubs managed only four hits in the game, David Hernandez pitched two scoreless innings and Raisel Iglesias finished in the ninth for his 12th save.

The Cincinnati bullpen has pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in the series so far.

“That was one of the cleaner games we’re played — offensively, defensively, we ran the bases well … and got timely hits Ryan Switzer Jersey ,” Riggleman said. “When you do that, you’re probably going to win.”

Now, the Reds have the improving Anthony DeSclafani (2-1) pitching Saturday. The right-hander missed the first two months of the season with an oblique injury after sitting out all of last season with an elbow injury, but he has won his last two starts while lowering his ERA from 7.60 to 4.20.

He’s 2-2 in seven career starts against the Cubs, and he handles Chicago cleanup hitter Anthony Rizzo (2-for-20, .100) especially well.

It’s expected to be a bullpen game for the Cubs, with former Reds pitcher Luke Farrell (2-2) making his first start of the season and only the second of his major league career. The longest he has pitched this season was five shutout relief innings during the Cubs’ 7-1, 14-inning victory over the New York Mets on June 2.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon stayed with his recent experiment of using slugger Kris Bryant as a leadoff hitter — he was 9-for-24 (.375) with three RBIs in that spot going into the game — but he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

“He gets on base a lot Jason Verrett Jersey , he’s possibly one of the best baserunners on the team,” Maddon told reporters. “It’s one of those things — preconceived notions — that you get hung up on. But I like what he’s doing. When the bottom of the order has been productive, there’s a potential for a lot of baserunners in the one-hole.”

Only there wasn’t any such potential Friday as the Cubs’ No. 7-8-9 batters were a combined 0-for-9. It also didn’t help that Rizzo went 0-for-4 and stranded three runners.

And, now, suddenly the Cubs-Reds rivalry isn’t what it used to be.

Most Browns players have opinions about Lebron James. Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has a strong opinion about one of Lebron’s nemeses, Golden State Warrior star Kevin Durant.

“KD broke the league,” Garrett said Wednesday on 92.3 The Fan, via Mary Kay Cabot of

So how did Durant actually break the NBA?

“You hopped onto a 73-9 team and he took the easy way out in my mind Durham Smythe Jersey ,” Garrett said. “It’s different when LeBron left. He went to [Miami to join Dwayne] Wade and [Chris] Bosh but it wasn’t something that was already guaranteed, something you already knew was going to have immediate success. [James] had to gel and work things into place.

“With KD, you just stick him in and he scores. You already knew what they had. They were 73-9 before and you put the second-best player in the world on an already all-time great team and of course you’re going to have success, pretty easy success. Anyone can have an off night and they can still find a way to win.”

Garrett made it clear he’ll never jump to a team that already is stocked.

“If I were him I would’ve never made a move like that in the first place,” Garrett said. “Me, I’m too competitive to try and ride on somebody’s coat tails to get a W. But for him, you might as well stay at the spot you’re at now. There’s no point in leaving since you’ve already taken that moniker where he’s been called the snake and cupcake and all that. You might as well stay and just keep on winning.”

Which of course is better than to stay and just keep on losing. Which has pretty much been the story of the Browns since the team returned to the NFL in 1999.

Oregon State outside linebacker Bright Ugwoegbu worked out for scouts from the Packers Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey , Seahawks, Patriots, Saints, Bears and 49ers on Thursday, Tony Pauline of NFL Draft Analyst reports.

Ugwoegbu measured 6-1, weighed 205 pounds and ran a 4.97 in the 40-yard dash. He had a 33-inch vertical, a 9-foot, 6-inch broad jump, a 4.7 short shuttle and a 7.38 three-cone.

Oregon State suspended Ugwoegbu in April, prompting him to declare for the supplemental draft.

Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, Mississippi State defensive back Brandon Bryant and Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander also are eligible for the supplemental draft July 11.

Ugwoegbu made 126 tackles Marcus Allen Jersey , 17.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks and a recovered fumble in 20 college games over three seasons. He played all 12 games last season, making 55 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

When the Los Angeles Rams traded for cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters and signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, there were questions about how those three personalities might or might not coexist on the same defense.

Wrapping up their mandatory minicamp Wednesday, the Rams are optimistic those concerns have been put to rest.

"They came in, they were open-minded, and they are coming out here and jumped right into the culture," cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman said of the three high-profile additions.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips meshed well with Talib when coaching him in Denver during the 2015-16 seasons, and his initial impressions of Peters and Suh have been just as positive. Already aware of the physical talent of Peters and Suh, Phillips praised the work ethic and intelligence of both men.

"You don't always know that D.J. Alexander Jersey ," Phillips said. "I mean, sometimes a guy is really talented, but these guys are smart players and talented. And they do things so easily, so naturally. Ndamukong has so much power, you can see it. He just holds a guy off with one arm, those kind of things. And then the movement skills of Marcus are outstanding. He has great change of direction, he's got great hands."

As for Talib, Phillips said he remains as feisty as ever.

"If there's an argument or if there is something going on, Talib is going to take the other side. No matter what it is. He's going to argue about which rap singer is the best or whatever," Phillips said.

But Phillips likes how the the attitudes of all three carry over onto the field.

Phillips pointed to an interception Peters made last season for Kansas City, coming off his assigned receiver in man-to-man coverage and making a play on the ball.

"I like personalities because they are independent enough to do things on their own AJ McCarron Jersey , and they have shown they are independent enough to be great players, too. You don't want a player who does everything you say. You want guys that have some initiative," Phillips said.

With Talib and Peters in the fold, Phillips now has the defensive backs to showcase his own creativity.

Talib and Peters can line up on either side of the field, which is an unusual trait in top cornerbacks, and it gives Phillips added flexibility in how to use them. Add in Phillips' confidence in deploying starting safeties Lamarcus Joyner and John Johnson in man coverage, and the veteran coach can call whatever scheme he can conceive.

"It gives you so many possibilities to double-cover somebody and put the pressure on one of those guys to cover his guy by himself, and I'm talking about any one of those four. They can help linebackers if they need help," Phillips said. "I mean, I can think of a lot of things to play, but I haven't always had the players to play those coverages and so forth and these guys can Tony Gonzalez Jersey , so we've got a lot of versatility there."

The possibilities of a secondary with Talib and Peters and a defensive line that will put Suh alongside Aaron Donald have elevated the Rams among the early Super Bowl contenders, and Suh believes that potential is what has allowed the trio to integrate so seamlessly and will keep the team unified.

"I think it's easy," Suh said. "We all have one common goal, which is wanting to win and be successful. No matter how strong somebody's personality is or not, it's about as long as you have the same goal all meshing to where you want to be."

The swagger of Suh, Talib and Peters has rubbed off on Robby-Coleman, and the slot cornerback would be disappointed if the Rams do not have the top secondary and best defense in the NFL this season, provided everyone stays healthy.

"That's the level of confidence that we have," Robby-Coleman said.

The weekends football action featured a couple of eventful debuts. Cheap MLB Jerseys Canada . Claudio Bravo almost gifted Manchester United a route back into the Manchester derby on Saturday, a day before the man he replaced between the sticks, Joe Hart, made a losing start to life with Torino. But Bravo and Hart are by no means the first sportsmen to announce themselves to their new fans in less-than-impressive fashion. ESPN rounds up five other debutants who wished they could have made a second first impression.Jonathan WoodgateReal Madrid vs. Athletic Bilbao, Sept. 22, 2005England defender Woodgate was forced to sit on the sidelines for more than a year -- 561 days to be precise -- after signing for Real Madrid from Newcastle in 2004. But when he finally made it on the pitch in a white shirt he made sure his bow was worth the wait. For all the wrong reasons. With just 25 minutes gone Woodgate marked his first La Liga appearance with a bullet header, into his own net. And while Madrid recovered, running out comfortable 3-1 winners, the nervous energy coursing through their defenders veins ensured that he would play only 66 minutes. A second booking meant that his night ended prematurely, and the calamitous evening summed up what was a largely forgettable three years in Madrid.Jason CroweArsenal vs. Birmingham, Oct. 14, 1997Millions of children around the world dream of pulling on the jersey of their favourite team. For the lucky few who are picked up by academies and development squads it takes years of hard work, dedication and a little luck to make that wish a reality. Crowes moment arrived on an unremarkable October evening as Arsenal hosted Birmingham in the third round of the League Cup. Having started the match on the bench, the then 19-year-old right-back was summoned to make his debut in extra time. However, it would not last long. Crowe was walking back over to the bench and down the old Highbury tunnel just 33 seconds later, the recipient of a red card following a reckless challenge on Martin OConnor. Crowe would make only two further appearances for the Gunners, but his brief cameo assured his place in Arsenal folklore.Mathew TaitWales vs. England, Feb. 5, 2005England went into the 2005 Six Nations in a state of transition under Andy Robinson. Gone were many of the star names who had delivered the World Cup less than 18 months earlier, while Jonny Wilkinson remained injured. Robinson must have hoped that Mathew Tait would take to Test rugby as his then club-mate Wilkinson had, but on the eve of his 19th birthday the centre was given a torrid time by his opposite number, Gavin Henson. The Welshmans 16th-minute tackle on his young opponent set the tone, not only for the match but the championship as a whole. Henson would fire Wales to an 11-9 victory in Cardiff en route to a Grand Slam. Tait, meanwhile, would not be seen in Test rugby for more than a year and in truth his international career never fully recovered.Darren PattinsonEngland vs. South Africa, July 18-21, 2008Pattinson did not follow the established path towards Test cricket. Born in England but raised in Australia, the fast bowler did not win a professional contract until he was 27. However, less than two years later -- and having played only 11 first-class matches -- an injury to Ryan Sidebottom presented him with a chance at the highest level. Plucked from obscurity to face South Africa primarily because of his height and ability to swing the new ball, Pattinson took two wickets in the Proteas first innings. However, the manner of Englands 10-wicket defeat ensured that he would never be seen in Test cricket again.Vanessa-MaeWomens giant slalom, Winter Olympics, Feb. 18, 2014Violinist Vanessa-Mae transformed into Olympic Skier Vanessa Vanakorm in 2014, when she became only the third athlete to compete for Thailand at the Winter Olympics. The British citizen had relocated to Switzerland in 2009 in order to chase her dream, having decided to compete for the country of her fathers birth as it represented an easier route to the Sochi Games. Qualification in the womens giant slalom secured, the musician found life on the Russian slopes tough as she trailed in 67th, more than 50 seconds behind gold medallist Tina Maze. That put her in last place of the skiers who completed the competition but was not the end of her Olympic journey. Question marks were raised about the validity of her qualification results, and Mae was initially handed a four-year ban from skiing. She vowed to fight that decision and CAS has since overturned it, leading the IOC to confirm it will allow her classification to stand. But some debutants impress only for it to all come crashing down...Massimo TaibiLiverpool vs. Manchester United, Sept. 11, 1999Manchester Uniteds treble victory in 1999 ushered in the end of an era as goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel left the club after eight years and 10 major trophies. Sir Alex Ferguson reacted to his departure by signing Mark Bosnich on a free transfer, but doubts over his former trainee led the Scot to dip back into the transfer market for Massimo Taibi. The Italian keeper made an instant impression, recovering from an early flap to pick up the man of the match award as United beat Liverpool 3-2 at Anfield on his debut. That would be as good as it got for Taibi in Manchester though. Just three games later, and following an infamous howler against Southampton at Old Trafford and a 5-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, he was back in Italy. Proof that an impressive debut is no guarantee of a long or successful career. Cheap Pittsburgh Pirates Jerseys Canada . FARMINGDALE, N. Discount NCAA College Jerseys .Y. -- There were several newsworthy moments from Rory McIlroys interview session on Wednesday in regard to his equipment. He might not sign with another manufacturer anytime soon; hes got three years worth of golf balls stored away if he needs them; and hes switching to a mallet-style putter for this weeks Barclays tournament. But lets start with perhaps the biggest takeaway: When Nike Golf announced recently that it would be ceasing its equipment operation, one of the companys star attractions barely knew ahead of time.It was a shock to all of us, McIlroy revealed. I got a call two hours before it was announced. The dominoes from that announcement have already started to fall, as McIlroy will have a Scotty Cameron-model putter in his bag this week.Following a poor putting performance at the PGA Championship three weeks ago, he felt it was time to make a change.Theres a bit to go and its a process, but I feel like Ive made a good start, McIlroy explained. I feel like with the putter change to a mallet, it doesnt encourage that face to close that much, which is the bad putt I was getting. So it just sort of encourages the face to stay a little more square through impact. As for the rest of those dominoes, McIlroy insisted hell take a wait-and-see approach regarding any other equipment changes.Im not going to commit to anything, he said. I wouldnt be surprised to see me not go with a manufacturer for a year or two, just sort of play with what I want to play, play with what Im comfortable with, and go from there. That hasnt stopped other manufacturers from already trying.McIlroy revealed with a laugh that his parents home in Northern Ireland has been inundated with packages from companies requesting that he test out their products.I dont think its the time or the place to change what I feel like Im very comfortable with, he said. Obviously, working with the Nike guys over the last number of years, they have gotten to know me and my specific tendencies and what I like in golf clubs. No reason to start changing just because I can. Im comfortable with everything. As for those golf balls, well, McIlroy knows hell need to find a new one at some point, but hes comfortable extending that deadline as long as possible.Ive got them to save me a lot of three years worth of golf balls, so at least Ive got a golf ball that I like and that I know that I can play well with, he said. How many balls is that, exactly? If I dont lose a golf ball, Im still using at least six, you know, cutting them, he said with a laugh. Theres a few dozen there. Cheap Jerseys From China . Jets start a six game home stand Friday with another divisional game, home to the Dallas Stars. STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The field rumbles as if a locomotive is approaching from the south tunnel. The stadium shakes once the first note of Zombie Nation hits. Players ears ring, their helmets sometimes vibrating, from a wall of noise.Welcome to Beaver Stadium during a White Out, an annual Penn State tradition where more than 100,000 fans dress in white and scream until they go hoarse. You couldnt hear the guy six inches next to you, remembered former Michigan center Jack Miller, who was on the sideline for the 2013 White Out. It was piercing loud, I think thats the best way to describe it.Added former Penn State linebacker Dan Connor, who spent six seasons in the NFL: Its really nothing Ive ever experienced before. You dont get that anywhere else. You cant emulate that environment, that type of noise and that type of energy. Its the loudest thing Ive ever heard. The Nittany Lions White Out has fast become one of the great spectacles in college football, an event that has inspired as many Penn State fans as it has copycats. Even Ohio State coach Urban Meyer named it one of the games top-five atmospheres -- and he should know. He twice has witnessed the White Out, in 2012 and 2014, and hell see it again Saturday night when the second-ranked Buckeyes visit Penn State (8 p.m. ET, ABC).Its a different kind of atmosphere. The White Out, it changes for the players -- the players can really see what kind of support they have behind them, Connor said. And I can only imagine a visiting teams player seeing 100,000 in all white filling up the stadium. Especially at night. This isnt a tradition steeped in years of planning and focus groups. Penn States White Out boasts humble beginnings, the spontaneous idea of an official who -- 12 years ago -- had no inkling this would grow into a Penn State phenomenon.Heres how it all happened:The BeginningGuido DElia can still remember staring up at a quiet student section in early September 2004, turning toward a marketing employee and asking aloud, You think we could get them to wear one color? His colleague, Loren Crispell, nodded.I just thought, how do you get people to act as one? said DElia, Penn State footballs former director of communications and branding. You put them in a uniform. We figured everyones got a white T-shirt -- so lets make it white. Those were the simple roots of the White Out, born away from offices and meeting rooms. But there was no time to waste. Penn State had only one remaining home game before late October -- on Oct. 9 against Purdue -- and the color-coded experiment might not work if students were forced to wear sweatshirts or winter jackets. This was a White Out involving only the students, but the marketing department had only two weeks to plan. Student email addresses were off-limits, and social media didnt really exist yet. Facebook remained in its infancy, and Twitter wouldnt even launch for another two years. Worse yet, DElia knew, if the White Out didnt succeed this time -- then it was probably dead forever. It was now or never. So the marketing department turned to essentially its only option -- guerilla marketing.I remember stuff on the White Out was all over the place, said Zack Mills, Penn States quarterback during the 2004 season. I remember there being a hype around it. Everything they promoted that game week was all about the White Out. We had a pep rally that was all about the White Out. It was just over and over and over again. Some students would stand on street corners and shout about the White Out through megaphones. Others would paint their faces white and parade through the HUB-Robeson Center, a popular student hangout. Signs went up, chants were started and campus cafeterias were flooded with ads.It worked. Penn State fell to Purdue, 20-13, but the first White Out was a success. Mills called it a special atmosphere ... that was a little crazier than usual. Now, at least, thered be a second one.The EvolutionConnor played in 62 career NFL games and 44 college games. He was the nations top linebacker as a high schooler, a Bednarik Award-winner in college -- and he coaches high school ball now.But Connor still cant forget the student-only White Out in 2005.Deep in Ohio State territory, near the student section, he could feel his head buzzing. It wasnt a sensation with which he was familiar. He tried to pinch his helmet near the ear for relief. The noise was actually vibrating through the facemask, Connor recalled earlier this week. My helmet was shaking. When you play at Penn Sttate, its always loud -- but any of those White Out games, especially the night ones, it was a different level. Cheap College Basketball Jerseys. Two miles away, in the campus West dorms, students who eschewed football for naps were forced to close their windows because of the noise. Ohio State center Doug Datish recalled, in 2006, how his ears were ringing from the all-white student section. Another Buckeyes offensive lineman, T.J. Downing, later told Penn States student newspaper that he couldnt hear Nick Mangold from two feet away. Its not fair to say the White Out was the sole reason for that noise level in 2005. Penn State was surging after several down years, and the Buckeyes arrived late in Happy Valley with a No. 6 national ranking. But its no stretch to say the White Out contributed to that environment, one in which ESPN analyst and Ohio State alum Kirk Herbstreit referred to Penn State as the best student section in the country -- theyre crazy.Penn State won that game, 17-10, as fans rushed the field and celebrated in the streets downtown. The White Out was a huge success -- and the athletic department clamored for a stadium-wide White Out the next season. DElia talked them out of it.We didnt have a game with the right weather and the right opponent, DElia said. I thought we had to wait -- and I fought a heck of a battle to hold off on it in 06. I thought it needed to be a big game, nationally televised, with a full stadium to lock that in.In 2007, the perfect game emerged: Sept. 8 against Notre Dame. The marketing department tapped into extra resources by printing out reminders on tickets, running commercials featuring an all-white bus driven by a man wearing an all-white uniform, and stationing white-clad employees -- armed with cowbells and bullhorns -- at each stadium exit the week before.Hours before kickoff against Notre Dame, DElia stood atop the press box with field glasses on that 70-degree day, wondering and hoping if his plan would pay off. But as fans left their cars and streamed down Curtin Road, DElia could see only white. The White Out was here to stay.It was incredible, said Anthony Morelli, the quarterback in 2007. I tell young kids all the time that if they can ever get out to a Penn State football game, get to a White Out.Its so loud, you can almost feel it.The NowNot much has changed from those early days.Players still need to crane their necks to hear their teammates, the crowd still dresses from head-to-toe in white, sometimes waving white pom-poms, and the atmosphere remains electric. But, as the White Out has grown, the marketing department has no longer needed to rely on commercials or guerilla tactics. Last seasons White Out even took place in late November. In some ways, Penn States White Out has grown as synonymous with Penn State as the Nittany Lion. Its evident every season, and its a tradition thats inextricably linked with the university. The White Out is one of the reasons why you come to Penn State, said cornerback Grant Haley, whos from Georgia. You can feel the ground shaking. ... When you see it, its just something like, it just catches the eye. Its unexplainable. Its unreal.Added running back Saquon Barkley: I lost my mind. It was amazing; I never had seen anything like that. The White Out has become one of Penn States biggest recruiting draws of the year. For fans, it routinely highlights the most exciting home game of the season. And, with the crowds, at least 107,418 have shown up for the last five such contests.Thats what makes Saturday nights White Out a little bit more different than the road venues Ohio State has faced before. A record-breaking 87,037 fans showed up in Oklahoma, and 81,541 packed Camp Randall. But Penn State will have at least 20,000 more on hand.I think Penn State has more people, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett acknowledged earlier this week, and that can make it louder. In 2014, PennLive photographer Joe Hermitt measured the crowd volume at 111 decibels on his iPhone app. Thats just 14 decibels away from when noise begins to cause literal pain.Whether its the loudest stadium or not, Penn State and its White Out have come a long way in the last 12 years -- from an on-field idea into an annual practice the school takes immense pride in.It was essentially an experiment in 2004 and, again, in 2007. Now?Its one of the most eye-catching traditions in all of college sports. The Rockets missed 15 of their 16 3-point attempts in the second half on admittedly weary legs.I told them, `Look, the only thing thats been determined tonight is were not going to win 82 games, DAntoni said. We know that. You just throw it away and go to the next one. Its a marathon, a long time, and our legs will come to us.After matching the franchise record with 14 first-half assists, Harden tied his career high with his 16th early in the third quarter. The Los Angeles native managed only six points in the fourth quarter, going 1 for 5, and his teammates were a combined 5 for 16.We were scoring so easily that we just didntt get stops, Harden said. The lanky wing scorers first NBA basket was a 3-pointer from the corner near the Lakers bench with the shot clock winding down.LUKES DEBUTAfter leading the Golden State Warriors to a 39-4 start last season while filling in for Steve Kerr, Walton finally has an actual game on his coaching record. His wins in Oakland were attributed to Kerr, but Walton captured the attention of the NBA and the Lakers, who brought him back to the city where he won two NBA title rings as a player.Hall of Famer Bill Walton proudly wore a purple Lakers T-shirt to his sons big night. Waltons mother and three brothers also attended the game. The Walton force will be strong tonight, Luke said.DANTONI RETURNSThe Lakers fired DAntoni after he went 27-55 in 2013-14, the first of a franchise-record three straight non-playoff seasons. When DAntoni was asked before the game about reflecting on his time in LA, the coach quickly quipped: I try not to. ... No, I loved it. Top-ranked Alabama is in the driver seat to make a return trip to the College Football Playoff, and possibly repeat as national champions. Wholesale NHL Jerseys .First, the Tide must take care of the rival LSU Tigers at Death Valley on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, CBS).Theyve got a very good team, playing very, very well right now, Alabama coach Nick Saban said. New energy and enthusiasm. There have been a lot of really good games between these two teams through the years. Its kind of developed into a rivalry game of sorts. Weve both been ranked over the last eight or nine years, most of the time in the Top 10.This is a real challenge game for us. Well find out who we are, what were made of and how we can compete in a very difficult circumstance. It is not quite the annual Game of the Century that it was in recent years, but it is still LSU and Alabama, and there still is quite a big at stake. The Tigers (5-2, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) fired head coach Les Miles after a 2-2 start, but they are 3-0 under Ed Orgeron, and they are No. 13 in the first CFP rankings. They can tighten the race in the SEC West if they can upset the top-ranked Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0).Saban said he considers LSU unbeaten, because the Tigers have not lost on Oregerons watch. He repeated the idea to his team during the two-week buildup to this showdown.A win would greatly bolster Orgerons case to be named the permanent successor to Miles, but with games against Arkansas, Florida and Texas A&M in a 13-day stretch looming, there is still a lot of regular-season work left after Alabama for LSU and Orgeron to get to where they want to be.Both teams are coming off an open date and should be well rested. That should be especially good news for Tigers All-America running back Leonard Fournette, who is the healthiest he has been all season. He had two weeks to heal after a record-setting performance against Ole Miss in the Tigers most recent game.I havent really seen a guy dominate a game like he did that game for a long time, Saban said. We have a tremendous amount of respect for him, and he looks as good as ever and maybe even better. The Crimson Tide stymied Fournette in their 30-16 win last season, holding him to 31 yards on 19 rushes. Were going to do some things with Leonard that hes able to do, Orgeron said. I think that whatever happened last year is the past. We have a great game plan for Leonard. But its going to be very tough moving the football on this defense. Theyre one of the best defenses Ive ever seen.Orgeron said the key to the game will be whether the Tigers can get Fournette the football in some plays that we think he runs very well and protect quarterback Danny Etling.Fournette is coming off the most prolific rushing game in LSU history -- a 284-yard performance in a 38-21 win against Ole Miss. However, it is Fournettes least-productive performance in his three seasons that also is significant entering this game. Alabama smothered Fournette last season and used single coverage outside, blatantly showing the hand of a defensive game plan that invited LSU to throw the ball.Fournette and the offensive line will be committed to improving significantly on that performance, and he will have to be a bigger factor than he was last season if the Tigers are going to pull off the upset. We think we can get some receivers down the field, but we got to be able to protect (Etling) long enough to be able to protect the quarterback to get those plays down the field, Orgeron said. Its going to be protection first. We have to protect our quarterback in order to get the ball down the field. Were going to have to do some things with Leonard that enables him to be in space and run the football.Alabama leads the series 50-25-5 and has won each of the past five meetings. In the past five games at Tiger Stadium, each team scored a total of 103 points, and two of those games went into overtime. The Crimson Tide won three of those five games. PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Running back Reggie Bush wasnt going to let a freak accident on the concrete surface ringing the Edward Jones Dome field in St. Louis end his career.Declaring his surgically repaired left knee 100 percent, Bush eagerly looked forward to the opportunity of playing an 11th NFL season -- and on his fifth team -- after signing a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Monday.Im in shape. Im full strength. Im ready to go, Bush said during a news conference at the Bills training camp facility in suburban Rochester. It feels good to be back on a team and back to playing football. The 31-year-old Bush has reason to be upbeat some nine months since tearing his meniscus ligament in St. Louis. It happened while he was pushed out of bounds while returning a punt and lost his footing on the concrete before sliding into the padded wall of the stands.I thought my career could be over. Those were my initial thoughts, he said.Instead, Bush joins a Rex Ryan-coached, run-first-oriented offense that led the league in rushing last season, and a team with a hole to fill in its return game.Bush expects to take part in practice Tuesday, and estimates itll take him no more than a week to become accustomed to his new surroundings, teammates, coaches and playbook.I guess the good thing is Ive been around long enough where Ive pretty much been through every offensive system possible, he said.Bush traveled to Buffalo to take a physical in the morning and then met with Bills officials at training camp before signing his contract. We are always looking to improve our roster, general manager Doug Whaley said. We had targeted Reggie because we feel a player of his caliber can help us in a variety of areas. The question is how much Bush has left in him after injuries hampered much of his career since being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2006 draft. Bush has played 16 games in a season just twice and been limited to playing 29 games over the past three years. The competitor in me says forever, but realistically, I dont know, Bush said, when asked how much longer he thinks he can play. Im just happy to be back to football. And after this season, and granted that Im able to stay healthy, Ill make a decision after thaat. China Jerseys. .When healthy, Bush is a dynamic threat as a rusher, receiver and returner. Hes topped 1,000 yards rushing twice, most recently in 2013, when he had 1,006 yards in 14 games with Detroit. When adding in his production as a receiver, Bush has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage five times in a career that began with New Orleans and included a two-year stint in Miami.Bushs versatility fits several Bills needs, including special teams.Buffalo lacked a return specialist last season and failed to address the need this offseason.Hey, lets be honest, thats somewhere we want to be better at, Ryan said, assessing Buffalos return game after practice Monday. That certainly wasnt our strength last year.Bush has been used mostly as a punt returner. His best season came in 2008 with New Orleans, when he returned 20 punts for 270 yards and scored three of his four career touchdowns. He can also provide experienced depth behind LeSean McCoy.Backup Karlos Williams will miss the first four games of the season after the NFL suspended him for violating the leagues substance-abuse policy. The remainder of Buffalos backfield is made up of mostly unproven players, including Mike Gillislee, Daniel Herron and James Wilder Jr., the son of former Buccaneers fullback James Wilder.Theres also rookie fifth-round pick Jonathan Williams, who faces potential discipline after being arrested in Arkansas two weeks ago on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.Bush said hes had no previous relationship with McCoy, but is eager to build one.Im a fan, Bush said. I think its going to be pretty cool to have both of us back there making some plays. The Bills also signed free-agent receiver Kain Colter, who has yet to play an NFL game since completing his college career in Northwestern in 2013. In four college seasons playing quarterback, Colter combined to score 50 touchdowns, with 18 of them passing, four receiving and 28 rushing. To make room on their roster, the Bills released receiver Davonte Allen and kicker Marshall Morgan.---AP NFL websites: and Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Authentic Jerseys Cheap Jerseys 2019 White NFL Jerseys Cheap China Womens NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys China Stitched NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo NFL T-shirts From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo Cheap NFL Womens Jerseys Jerseys Wholesale ' ' '

WASHINGTON -- The Cincinnati Reds had squandered 4-1 lead late in Saturday nights game and it seemed just a matter of time before the Washington Nationals completed a comeback win. Supply NFL Jerseys .Instead the Reds pulled away.Tucker Barnhart singled home the tiebreaking run in the 10th inning to lead Cincinnati to a 9-4 victory over the Nationals, snapping the Reds five-game losing streak.Weve kind of struggled to get separation from teams late in games, but to be able to get that tonight and hold on for a win is big, said Barnhart, who has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 starts.Cincinnati scored on a fielding error and a wild pitch, and Jose Peraza and Jay Bruce also had RBI in the five-run 10th.Josh Smith (1-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings for his first career win.Its really fitting that Tucker gets that hit in the tenth because weve been together since 2010 (when) I got drafted, Smith said.Eugenio Saurez and Brandon Phillips opened the 10th with singles off Sammy Solis (1-3) and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman was unable to field Billy Hamiltons sacrifice attempt, loading the bases.Barnhart singled to right for his third hit of the game to drive in Suarez.
