PITTSBURGH -- For the better part of four hours Pittsburgh and Syracuse raced up and down the Heinz Field turf like kids playing in the street waiting for their parents to call them in for dinner. Jaguars Jerseys Store . The touchdowns kept piling up, one after another. An absurd 20 in all. When Pitt quarterback Nate Peterman mercifully ended it with a simple kneel down to run out a 76-61 victory -- the highest scoring regulation game in FBS history -- the Panthers trotted toward the band for one last victory song caught somewhere between relief and disbelief, their head coach included.Ive never been in a game like that, Pat Narduzzi said. I dont ever want to be in a game like that again. But Ill go back and say theres no such thing as a bad win.If anything, it was a memorable one for the Panthers (8-4, 5-3), who capped a season that included victories over Clemson and Penn State with a performance that looks like a typo or something borrowed from the annual basketball showdowns by the former Big East foes turned ACC rivals. Pitts point total was actually higher than anything the schools basketball team mustered in three wins over the Orange last season and the most Syracuse has ever surrendered in a program that dates back to 1899.The combined point total (137) beat the previous FBS record of 136 set in 2007 when Navy outlasted North Texas 74-62.Half of me is jumping for joy with what our offense did today, Narduzzi said. The other half of me, makes me sick.Pitt survived thanks in part to 251 yards passing and four touchdowns by Peterman, who added a diving 13-yard score on the ground, and 160 total yards and three scores by running back James Conner. The Panthers needed only 24:18 to put up 644 total yards and averaged 10.9 yards per play. No, really. And still Pitt never really got comfortable, not even after Quadree Hendersons 66-yard sprint gave the Panthers a 49-21 lead with 8:59 in the third quarter. Ten more touchdowns were to come.Im thinking were about to put up 80 points in a football game, Henderson said. Are we playing basketball or football? It was definitely weird. The Orange (4-8, 2-6) ended coach Dino Babers first season a fourth straight loss but hardly rolled over when things looked bleak. Backup quarterback Zack Mahoney kept chipping away against the nations 127th ranked pass defense. Mahoney threw for 440 yards and five scores, all of them to Amba Etta-Tawo, and ran for two more.Three times in the fourth quarter Syracuse pulled to within two touchdowns only to have Pitt answer quickly on a day the teams combined for 1,312 yards, something hard to do in video games, let alone real life. Its fun being out there and putting up all those points, Mahoney said. When it comes down to it, the only important stat at the end of the days is wins and losses.STAYING PUT?Babers brushed aside any speculation he might have any interest in the coaching vacancy in Houston now that Tom Herman has jumped to Texas.I am 100 percent locked in here at Syracuse, said Babers, who just completed his first season with the Orange.LAST CALLConner, who extended his ACC record for career touchdowns to 56, reiterated he will wait until after Pitts bowl game to make a decision about whether to return for his senior season or head to the NFL. A year after being diagnosed with cancer, Conner finished the regular season with 1,060 yards to become the fifth back in school history with two 1,000-yard seasons.TAKEAWAYSyracuse: Etta-Tawo will likely be getting paid to catch the football in the NFL next fall. The graduate transfer from Maryland finished with 13 catches for 178 yards. His five receiving touchdowns gave him 14 on the season, tying Tommy Kanes school record.Pitt: The Panthers finished the regular season with a three-game winning streak for the first time since 2004 and offensive coordinator Matt Canada will likely be a hot property after Pitt set a school record for points in a season (508). Yet theres plenty for Narduzzi -- who built Michigan State into a defensive power during his long run as coordinator there -- to work on.People like scoring a lot of points ... fans like a lot of points, Narduzzi said. Were going to buckle down. Thats not going to happen again.UP NEXTSyracuse: The loss ended any outside shot at a bowl game.Pitt: Likely played its way into an upper-tier ACC bowl thanks to a resume that includes wins over Clemson and Penn State.---More AP college football: and DJ Chark Jersey . STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State plans to formally honor the late Joe Paterno on Saturday by having the co-captains from his first Nittany Lions team participate in the coin toss and by airing video presentations on the impact to student-athletes, the university said Thursday.?Penn State announced on Sept. 1 that it planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Paternos first game at the school -- a 15-7 win over Maryland on Sept. 17, 1966 -- but declined to provide any details at the time.?The decision to honor the longtime coach sparked widespread debate. Paterno was fired in 2011 amid the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandalThe Nittany Lions host Temple on Saturday at noon. ?Current Penn State coach James Franklin sidestepped questions Tuesday about the event, saying, All of those decisions, like Ive stated before, theyre for the administration. Our focus is on Temple. In a written statement Thursday, athletic director Sandy Barbour said, Coach Paterno wanted academic success not only for his players but also for every student who came through Penn State. Together with his wife, Sue, they helped countless students become leaders and earn a Penn State diploma. Our plans are consistent with the wishes of the Paterno family as well, with a focus on the players and their accomplishments at Penn State and beyond.Mike Irwin and John Runnells, captains of the 1966 team, will be hand on for the coin toss. Barbour said further in-game introductions of players will take place, along with video presentations on the impact to student-athletes.A Penn State spokesperson declined to comment further. The Paterno Foundation, which is not affiliated with the university, announced earlier this week that several hundred former Nittany Lions football players are expected to attend a private event Friday to celebrate the coachs career. He said he understands and accepts that Paterno has become a polarizing figure.Coach Paterno, I think in many ways was naive about everything in the world except football and human growth, Hartenstine said. We were the fulfillment of what his lifes goals were. He adopted my family, my college roommates, everyone. You were just very special to him. How to respond to the accusations? Theres a sense of impossibility about it.But Hartenstine said he doesnt consider the reunion a celebration of Paterno. Rather, its about recognizing the achievements of players who were a part of the coachs Grand Experiment that placed an emphasis on academics. The emphasis has been not so much on Joe Paterno, Hartenstine said. This is about the men of the Grand Experiment. (Sue Paterno) repeats it over and over again that the accomplishments of lettermen are what this is a celebration of. I shouldnt even say lettermen. There are walk-ons that were there, some on our team, who put in their four years and worked, very, very hard.In May, unsealed court documents revealed that an alleged Sandusky victim said he complained to Paterno about the former assistant coach in 1976 and was rebuffed. University president Eric Barron has said the allegation was not substantiated in court or tested by any other process.Paterno was never charged with a crime related to the scandal.Paterno finished his career as the winningest coach in FBS history with 409 victories, but he was fired in November 2011, shortly after his former defensive coordinator, Sandusky, was arrested for child sexual abuse.Paterno died in January 2012 of lung cancer. The university removed his iconic statue from outside the stadium six months later. HAMILTON, Ont. Discount Jaguars Jersesys . -- Hamilton Tiger-Cats punter Josh Bartel wasnt sure what to expect in his first CFL season. He was new to the country and new to the Canadian game. It didnt take him long to catch on. Bartel recorded a 42.8-yard average with the Ticats last year and was named to the CFL East Division all-star team. Not bad for a rookie punter who developed his kicking prowess by playing footy -- or Australian rules football -- in his native land Down Under. "At the start of last year I was very nervous the first four to five games," Bartel said in a recent interview. "I was very nervous that I (might get) cut. So this year Im going to go in with a lot more confidence and (will) be a lot more aggressive as well." Bartel reached the semi-pro level in Australia and got his Canadian football break thanks to a former coach who had a contact with the Ticats. Bartel spent over a year working on his punting style and the team gave him a look at training camp last year. He made the squad and was impressive in game action. Bartel played in all 18 regular-season games and finished third in the CFL in punting. The six-foot-three, 200-pounder has the power to generate distance and hang time but hes also quite accurate. When punting from midfield, hell often use an end-over-end style Australian rules drop kick to pin the opposing team deep in its own end. "Weve grown up since we were kids kicking that," Bartel said. "Its almost like walking for the Australian rules boys. Its good fun, its easy to control, the risk for me is minimal. Id like to use it a lot more." Head coach Kent Austin likes Bartels consistency. "Hes an excellent punter," he said. "Hes very, very sound fundamentally and he has great height on his punts. Hes a two-step punter so its very, very difficult to block his punts. He also has the ability to directional punt extremely well. "So hes kind of the full package." Bartel, an amiable 27-year-old, has more of a feel for the Canadian game now that he has a full season under his belt. Hes certainly more comfortable on the gridiron than this time last year. "I remember my first week in training camp, the first training camp Id ever been to. Probably didnt speak a word for the first week, I dont think," he said. "I was that nervous. I wouldnt say overwhelmed but just nervous pretty much. It was something different. My first exhibition game at Ivor Wynne (Stadium), my first four kicks I cant even remember them. "I just caught it and tried to kick it as fast as I could before I got hit. I was very nervous that game. Im just glad I got through it." Steeltown is quite different from his hometown in Australia. Bartel previously lived on his familys dairy farm in a small town about a four-hour drive from Melbourne. "I like the country life, Im a country boy at heart," he said. "Its always good to get home in the off-season and catch up with family." Playing pro football in the CFL was not the career path he expected to take. "Five or 10 years ago I didnt have a clue what I was going to do," he said. "Im pretty glad I chose this path because its the best job Ive ever had. You get paid nicely to travel around Canada and play this pretty cool sport. I love it actually." And if he werent playing football? "I dont have a clue, I dont actually want to think about that actually," Bartel said with a laugh. "I was selling tires in town. ... I dont really want to go back there so hopefully this goes well." The 27-year-old Scrivens will be joining his third NHL club since signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in 2010. The move also reunites with him with head coach Dallas Eakins from their time together with the American Hockey Leagues Toronto Marlies. AFL legend Kevin Bartlett has taken aim at the leagues illicit substances policy after former Collingwood star Dane Swan confirmed he took drugs during his career.Swan has revealed that, like fellow Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins, he never failed a drug test during his 14 seasons with Collingwood.Bartlett, a five-time VFL premiership player with Richmond, says the admission shows the AFL is wasting its time enforcing drug tests. All this money were spending, weve got two Brownlow medallists now who have come out and we know have taken illicit drugs and not one of them has a strike next to his name, he told SEN radio on Monday. Why not save all of those millions of dollars and put it into some other avenue of football? Let the AFL clubs look after their own players. They can rub them out or put them through some sort of program.Under the AFLs illicit drugs policy, players receive a $5000 suspended fine for recording their first strike but are granted anonymity on the condition they receive counselling. Jaguars Jersesys Outlet. .The league announced last year that players who record a second strike will be named and suspended for four matches, with a third strike resulting in a 12-match ban.Swan, who won the Brownlow medal in 2011, has not revealed which drugs he took during his career or when he took them but denied going out of his way to avoid being tested.I never once stated how much I did, when I did it or where I did it, he told AFL trade radio.Until people know all the facts, they can only speculate.Swan retired after suffering a foot injury in the opening minutes of the 2016 season, bringing an end to his 258-game career which included winning a premiership in 2010. Zlatan Ibrahimovics high-profile move to Manchester United was confirmed on Friday, headlining the first day of what likely will be the busiest and biggest-spending transfer window ever seen in English soccer. Ryan Griffin Jersey .The arrival of 34-year-old Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford came after Manchester City signed Spain forward Nolito 13.8 million pounds ($18.3 million) and Crystal Palace spent about the same on England winger Andros Townsend. Its a sign of things to come this offseason as English Premier League clubs start to spend some of the 8.3 billion-pound ($11-billion) windfall from its record domestic and international TV rights deals for 2016-19. Thats an increase of around 70 percent from the last deal, meaning England will again dominate the European summer transfer window that opened for business on Friday.Ibrahimovic, who was a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, will play his club football in England for the first time in his trophy-laden career, in what could be his last big move.Ibrahimovic has also played Ajax, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus, and won league titles in four different countries. The striker, who retired from international duty after Swedens exit from the European Championship last week, is reunited with new United manager Jose Mourinho. The pair got on well at Inter in the Italian clubs title-winning season of 2008-09.Zlatan needs no introduction, Mourinho said. The statistics speak for themselves. Ibra is one of the best strikers in the world and a player who always gives 100 percent.Nolito became Citys second signing under new coach Pep Guardiola -- after Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan -- when he joined from Celta Vigo on a four-year deal. The 29-year-old Nolito, who played under Guardiola at Barcelona from 2008-11, can play as a central striker or on the wing, and will freshen up Citys attack. He started all four of Spains matches at the European Championship.Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world, Nolito said. He knows a lot about the game and hes going to help me progress as a player, and Im sure hell get the best out of me.City later announced Argentina defender Martin Demichelis has left the club after three years.Townsend joined Palace for a club-record fee of 13 million pounds ($17.3 million) on a five-year deal, with the winger ending his brief spell at Newcastle following its relegation from the Premier League.Townsend ensured he will not be starting this season in Englands second tier by securing a move back to London. The winger left Tottenham for Newcastle in January but couldnt stop the northeast team from relegation, despite scoring four goals in 13 games and being one of the form players in England in the second half of the season. Its fantastic that weve managed to get a player of Andros quality into the club, Palace chairman Steve Parish said.Striker Dwight Gayle went the opposite direction, moving to St. James Park on a five-year deal.Watford signed Belgium defender Christian Kabasele from Genk and announced that captain Troy Deeney had signed a new five-year contract, ending speculation that the forward might be joining Premier League champion Leicester.Everton signed Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg from second-tier Fulham on a three-year contract. BOISE, Idaho -- When BYU lined up to attempt a game-winning field goal with 16 seconds remaining, Boise State nose tackle David Moa was struggling to get his shoe on along the sideline as head coach Bryan Harsin was pleading for someone to help Moa. Matt Prater Jersey .That might have been the most stressful moment in the whole game, Harsin said. BYU is lining up for a field goal and I cant get my nose tackle out there.Moa managed to get his shoe on in time before he blocked the Cougars 44-yard field goal attempt and help Boise State escape with a 28-27 victory Thursday night in a wild finish. The Broncos (7-0), who won their 23rd straight non-conference home game, overcame five turnovers in the victory. Since 2004, FBS teams that are minus-5 in the turnover category are 9-231.I think it shows the will of this team, Boise State linebacker Tanner Vallejo said. We scratched and clawed and were able to get the win. This is a confidence booster for this team.BYU (4-4) still had another chance to win the game after Rhett Almonds field goal attempt was blocked. The ball didnt cross the line of scrimmage and Mitch Juergens recovered for BYU, giving the Cougars the ball at the Boise State 42 with 8 seconds left. The Cougars, who beat Boise State on a last-minute Hail Mary play last season, couldnt duplicate the magic on the final play of the game as the ball was knocked down in the end zone.It was another narrow defeat for BYU, which has lost all four games by a combined eight points. We had five turnovers and we were able to take care of the football, which is what kept us in the game, BYU coach Kalani Sitake said. When youre ahead 5-0 in the turnover battle, you shouldnt even be in the game. That says a lot about how good this Boise State team is.Taysom Hill was 21-of-42 passing for 187 yards for BYU, while Squally Canada rushed for 88 yards.BYU, which was without leading rusher Jamaal Williams due to an ankle injury suffered in practice this week, mustered just 322 yards of offense, well below its 405 yards per game average. However, it was still almost enough for the upset-minded Cougars.BYU took a 27-21 lead with 13:33 remaining on a 37-yard field goal by Almond. Then Boise States offense came to life for the first time in the second half.Rypien engineered a 10-play, 90-yard drive that ended in a 4-yard touchdown run by Jeremy McNichols with 10:37 remaining. Tyler Rausas extra point gave the Broncos a 28-27 lead that withstood BYUs last-minute rally.Rypien threw for 442 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.McNichols rushed for 140 yards and had 109 yards receiving along with a pair of touchdowns. Thomas Sperbeck also had 109 yards receiving on nine catches, his 11th career game with more than 100 yards receiving.TAKEAWAYSBYU: The Cougars have a chance to finish the season strong against a softer schedule that doesnt include any Power 5 schools.Boise State: The Broncos remain in position to secure a New Years Six bowl berth if it continues winning and Houston stumbles.POLL IMPLICATIONSThis game was likely Boise States last chance to impress Top 25 poll voters in the regular season with a win over a quality opponent. However, the Broncos wont likely move up much in the next poll since the teams directly in front of them are either idle or play weaker opponents.UP NEXTBYU: The Cougars take a week off before returning to the road for a game at Cincinnati on Nov. 5.Boise State: The Broncos will take advantage of the extra couple days to prepare for a road tilt with divisional foe Wyoming next Saturday.RECORD SETTERBoise State senior Thomas Sperbeck celebrated his birthday in style by catching a 20-yard pass in the first quarter to become the schools career leader in receiving yards. He surpassed former Detroit Lion receiver Titus Young, who held the previous school record with 3,030 yards. Sperbeck needs 53 receptions to catch all-time leader Matt Miller. Taylor Decker Jersey . Have non-contests ever been as hotly contested? Its fair to say that when the alterations to the playing conditions of the 2016 County Championship were announced, there were a good number of conflicting opinions, and words, flying about. George Iloka Jersey . Visiting captains were to be given the option of foregoing the toss if they wanted to bowl first, the idea being to negate home reliance on green seaming wickets. Toss uncontested duly made its appearance on scorecards from Headingley to Hove. After one season - and one season remains a small sample size, so caution is advised - it would appear that the tweaked regulations have indeed promoted tweak, with spinners brought to the fore. Its certainly been enough of a success - or perhaps not too much of a failure - to justify continuing the experiment. Why stop at county cricket, though? Is there any reason why it should not be extended to Test cricket? Indeed, at first glance, some variant of toss concession - whether automatic permission for the visitors to bowl first, bat first, or choose either option - might appear to redress one of the deepest on-field imbalances in the international game: home advantage. The difficulty of winning away from home has been highlighted all the more by Bangladeshs 1-1 draw with England, which has ensured that that country will not be viewed as a near-certain-win destination for touring teams. Taking the example of England a little further, results show that they have now failed to gain series victories on their most recent visits to all bar two of the Test nations: 1-1 in the West Indies, 2015; 0-5 in Australia, 2013-14; 0-0 in New Zealand, 2012-13; 1-1 in Sri Lanka, 2011-12; 0-2 in Pakistan, 2005-6 (plus 0-2 on UAE soil in 2015); 0-0 in Zimbabwe, 1996.Indeed, the only teams not on that list are South Africa (2-1 in 2015-16) and India (2-1 in 2012-13). Few observers would expect India to still be on it by the end of the year - and that is at least partly down to the expectation that the pitches for the series starting this week will assist the home team. Less than a year ago, South Africa - then No. 1 in the rankings - were spun out for 3-0, with the Nagpur pitch, in particular, incurring particular criticism.Touring has never been easy. In all the decades of Test cricket, there has only ever been one decade when away wins matched the number of away losses - the 1890s, when all of 32 Tests were played. Since the 1930s, there has been a near-constant decline in the away win-loss ratio, with each decade proving worse for touring teams than its predecessor - bar the 2000s, which recorded a slight upturn, mainly thanks to the mighty Australians. The ratio has now slumped to 0.571; if the same downward trajectory continues, it will not be long before it hits 0.5, meaning that teams will be losing twice as many games as they win. It should be noted in passing, incidentally, that the percentage of away wins has increased over the decades; the problem is that that of away losses has too - it is the draw that is becoming rarer.Whatever the reasons are for this long-term decline - two of the most frequently vaunted factors being the influence of T20 on technique, and reduced acclimatisation on shorter tours - there is a temptation to twiddle with the parameters of the game. Michael Holding, in a column for Wisden India, called for the toss to be done away with entirely in Test cricket, with the aim of evening up the contests between bat and ball, a call that Ricky Ponting has also made - under his scheme, the visiting captain would always win the toss. The aim of maintaining a contest between bat and ball is more than laudable - it is a fundamental principle of the game - but it is far from certain that removing the toss would do anything to further that aim. England team analyst Nathan Leamon made the point in a Nightwatchman essay that since 1990 winning the toss has only translated into a very slight advantage (currently 401 wins against 388 losses); captains often fail, arguably, to make proper use of winning the toss, so handing it to them automatically may be of less help than expected. Furthermore, if visiting players are weak players of seam or spin or swing bowling, their deficiencies in that department will be likely to be exposed regardless of when they choose to bat.Another potential negative of the arrangement was glimpsed during the early part of the 2016 Championship season: the high number of drawn matches, likely due at least in part to the batting-friendly surfaces promoted by the altered regulations. The last thing that Test cricket needs is for its pitches to suffer the homogenisation creeping into ODIs. Cricket as a spectacle is much more engrossing when both bowlers and batsmen are in the game. Leamon also observed that there was a chance that groundsmen would go to the other extreme, providing surfaces that overwhelmingly favoured the home side, regardless of whether they batted or bowled first, thus rendering the toss near-irrelevant.Not only would there be no guarantees, therefore, that such a policy would redress the imbalance, but the game itself would also lose something. Playing away is supposed to be hard. Indeed, a large part of what makes Test cricket the ultimate challenge is the necessity of coping with conditions that are not merely alien, but that strongly favour the home side. Theres nothing inherently untoward or underhanded about a team preparing a surface that plays to their strengths; the variation encountered around the world is one of crickets great assets.Doing away with the toss would also risk, somewhat counter-intuitively, reducing the satisfaction for supporters: Everest would be that little bit lower. Overcoming a deck that has been tailored, if not outright stacked, to the home sides strengths emphasises the achievement of the fish out of water - and this is only magnified if the team also lost the toss. Englands 2-1 triumph over India in 2012-13 was secured despite the visitors losing the toss in each of the non-drawn matches. Two years later, when India visited Lords, they not only had to deal with one of the greenest tops seen there of late, but losing the toss also condemned them to batting first on it. Their subsequent victory was a great moment for the Away Team collective. The ICC retains the right to penalise a pitch if it deems it poor, with the overriding objective being to provide a balanced contest between bat and ball over the course of the match, allowing all the individual skills of the game to be demonstrated by the players at various stages of the match. This is entirely appropriate, and the ICC should continue to perform such a role; both Nagpur in 2015 and Trent Bridge in 2014 received poor ratings under this system. In bilateral series, that is about as far as the ICC should go. It should resist any temptation to meddle with the toss.If the toss must be modified, then may it be this modification: allow the team that loses the toss to make one alteration to their side before play begins. Thus the team winning the toss would continue to receive the primary advantage, as it should do, while the team losing the toss would be granted the consolatory measure of being able to adapt their team in response. For example, a team might initially name a side with three specialist bowlers and an allrounder; if, however, they lost the toss and were condemned to bat last, they could opt to replace the allrounder with a specialist batsman, with half an eye on a draw-saving rearguard effort. Alternatively, they might choose a highly aggressive strategy, and replace the allrounder with a specialist bowler, with the intent of nullifying the imbalance through all-out attack by their bowlers.Such an arrangement would allow home advantage to be preserved, while offering teams a touch more leeway in coping with that advantage. Indeed, the teams that will most benefit will be those that learn to prepare conditions that provide just enough assistance for their skills to shine more brightly than those of their opponents. It would also add to, rather than subtract from, the opportunity for variations in the game. The main driver behind the Championship change was player development, not spectacle improvement. Like it or not, in this day and age, much of the raison detre of Championship cricket is to provide a training ground for players before international duty. Test cricket, by contrast, is not meant to be a place to learn ones trade, nor to develop players for a higher level of cricket. In short, the reasons that make dropping the toss a provisional success in the Championship do not hold for the Test game, wherein great cricketers, and great cricket teams, find a way to win, despite every outrageous fortune slung against them - and that includes the toss. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Novak Djokovic will face 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro in the first round of the Olympics in a rematch of the 2012 bronze medal match. David Njoku Jersey .Del Potros ranking has fallen to 145th after he endured three operations on his left wrist. But at his first Grand Slam in 2 1/2 years, he upset fourth-seeded Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon last month. The Argentine beat Djokovic for bronze in London four years ago.The top-ranked Djokovic, a 12-time major champion, is seeking his first Olympic title. A potential semifinal opponent in Rio de Janeiro is third-seeded Rafael Nadal, who hasnt played since withdrawing from the French Open because of a left wrist injury.Reigning gold medalist Andy Murray could face fourth-seeded Kei Nishikori in the semifinals. The Wimbledon champion will meet 35th-ranked Viktor Troicki in the first round in the 64-player draw, which was announced Thursday.Hes one of the better players thats not seeded, Murray said. He likes the hard court. Good competitor, good mover. Definitely a tough opening match. In the womens draw, top-ranked Serena Williams, the reigning gold medalist, could face older sister Venus in the semifinals. Also on her half of the draw is Spains Garbine Muguruza, who beat the 22-time major champion in this years French Open final. And a potential quarterfinal opponent is Italys Roberta Vinci, who stunned Williams in last years U.S. Open semifinals to end the Americans Grand Slam bid.The Williams sisters, coming off a Wimbledon title, are seeded first in doubles as they seek their fourth gold medal together. The tournament starts Saturday, though Murray, who will be Britains flag bearer at Fridays opening ceremony, doesnt play until Sunday. He is also seeded second in doubles with older brother Jamie, who won this years Australian Open title with regular partner Bruno Soares of Brazil. Andy Murray said he considered his Olympic singles and doubles competitions to be of equal importance. The Murray brothers face two other Brazilians, Thomaz Bellucci and Andre Sa, in the first round.Im sure the crowd will be pretty lively, Jamie Murray said. Its going to be a tough team, he added, and obviously inspired to play in their home Olympics. Expect them to perform well.Wawrinka and Roger Federer were expected to contend for another doubles gold medal for Switzerland, but both pulled out of the Olympics because of injuries, leaving the Rio Games without two of the top four men in the rankings. Overall, half of the top 20 wont be in Brazil for various reasons, though the draw still has the star power of Djokovic, Murray and Nadal.Murray noted that if not for injuries to Federer and Wawrinka, every mens Grand Slam champion of the past decade-plus would be in Rio.It is unfortunate. The Olympics in London was very strong, Murray said. Because of a few injuries and some of the potential health problems, its made it a little bit weaker this time around.Everyone views things differently. PARIS, France -- Is it possible in life to be given too much of a good thing? Does the security guard tasked with keeping a watchful eye on the Mona Lisa day in, day out, long for the opportunity to leave Le Louvre and cast their eye on something a bit more tawdry?Taking in New Zealands clinical 24-19 defeat of France at the Stade de France, it was only natural to ponder whether we have come to take the world champions for granted. Taylor Moton Jersey . Victory was their 21st in their last 22 Test matches, and means that another unbeaten streak is beginning to be built. All of which was achieved with Steve Hansens side rarely out of second gear in attack. It was another committed defensive effort but, in truth, France only had themselves to blame for not breaching the All Blacks try line until the 62nd minute. As in Dublin seven days previously, New Zealand sealed victory despite seeing very little of the ball -- they managed just 38 percent possession in the opening 40 minutes here.Ireland proved recently in both Chicago -- where they ended New Zealands world record winning run -- and Dublin that this All Blacks team will give you chances. Capitalise on those opportunities and they are beatable; pass them up and they will punish you.France will leave the Stade de France clutching onto the positives having created five try-scoring opportunities in the first 30 minutes alone. But crucially it was through their own mistakes that they were undone. Had anyone in dark blue shown an ounce of the composure that comes naturally to those wearing white in Paris, then the scoreline would have been markedly different. However, on too many occasions when the pressure was cranking up on the All Blacks, France responded with a forced pass or a knock on. A scrambled defence suddenly had possession to protect, a booming clearance later and the pressure was released.Part of the credit for that, of course, goes to New Zealands ferocious defence but it is no coincidence that confidence drained from the French players as the try line approached. It is an affliction that fans of Northern Hemisphere sides are well used to when faced by one of the big three from the south. And as Hansen and his players head for home, will any of that matter to them? They might not have had an awful lot of the ball, but when they had it they were clinical.Indeed, Beauden Barretts drilled kick-pass to Julian Savea for the opening try was almost identical to the one that found Malakai Fekitoa in Ireland last weekend. The main difference being that it was put into action around 40 metres further back, and without the luxury of a stretched defence in opposition. Frances rearguard was limp as Savea passed inside for Israel Dagg to scamper over, having punched themselves out in attack for much of the preceding six minutes. It is not something that you can often say about the All Blacks, and is proof that their composure in those pressure moments is not something that should be taken for granted. In fact it is the very reason they seem so formidable to their opponents. The first try again is a case in point. It may have looked easy from the stands or on TV, but there were several skills that needed to be enacted perfectly. Barretts cross-filed kick is useless if it is an inch or two further left or right, Savea in turn needs to catch the ball, while evading Noa Nakaitaci, and then offload to Dagg in support. Any of those skills could falter, but they didnt. That is the result of hours spent on the training pitch, but it is also the product of having the confidence to try it in a game, and for it all to come off. Time and again. The ability that the All Blacks bring to their game in attack in turn feeds into their aura. France felt the pressure when they entered the New Zealand 22 in part because they knew that their opponents would punish any slip-ups. If the All Blacks enter the pitch with an advantage, it is because every other team in the world knows the speed with which they can turn defence into attack. This might not have been a vintage performance from Hansens side but it was ruthlessly clinical, and that is something that should be applauded. Especially when it is the very thing that their opponents struggle to match. Yale answered with an 8-play, 65-yard drive, capped by Dale Harris 3-yard rushing touchdown with 21 seconds left, but the Bulldogs onside kick didnt go the necessary 10 yards.Fordham (4-2) was in control for most of it as they led 27-15 at halftime and 41-23 after three quarters.Anderson had scoring strikes of 15 yards to Robbie Canntelli and 55 yards to Corey Caddle in the first quarter for a 14-8. CHICAGO -- The U. Leon Jacobs Jersey .S. soccer team will be missing a key figure for the Gold Cup final against Panama on Sunday: their coach. Jurgen Klinsmann was suspended for one game Friday by CONCACAFs disciplinary committee, the result of his ejection in the 87th minute of a 3-1 victory over Honduras in the semifinals Wednesday. Klinsmann was dismissed "for showing dissent towards the referee by throwing the ball in a violent manner," the disciplinary committee found, and said FIFA rules require anyone ejected from a match to be suspended for the following game. The decision cannot be appealed. "I dont think it changes too much," U.S. captain DaMarcus Beasley said Friday. "Its always good to have him on the bench, but hell give his wisdom before the game ... make sure we get off on the right foot. But its not going to be the same not seeing his face on the sideline, giving us instructions when we need it and being the enthusiastic person that he is on the bench. Especially, when we score or he needs to tell us something if we need to change something." Klinsmann was irate Wednesday after the referee failed to issue cards on a series of hard fouls against the Americans. He could be seen yelling and gesturing angrily in the direction of the referee, and was told to leave the field after he slammed a ball into the ground. Klinsmann later apologized, saying he acted out of frustration. "I was talking to the ref as well. There werent any cards," Beasley said. "I got hit three, four times in somewhat the same sequence, and they didnt call anything but a foul. So I could understand his frustration. I was frustrated." The Americans are seeking their fifth Gold Cup title. They also are looking to extend their record 10-game winning streak in all matches. "This is what he lives and dies for," Eddie Johnson said. "This is the opportunity that American soccer has been wanting, to have a coach with such experience, whos played at the highest level and played on big teams and managed big players, to be in this position to help us get to where were trying to go in American soccer." An Indians-Cubs World Series is more than a meeting of two franchises in the midst of long title droughts -- its also the first meeting in the Fall Classic of three ballplayers born in Puerto Rico, the Cubs Javier Baez and the Indians Francisco Lindor and Roberto Perez. Lindor and Baez are two of the brightest young players in the game -- Lindor was an All Star this year, and Baez has been the postseasons breakout star -- and both credit Perez as a role model (at 27, hes the elder statesman; Baez is 23 and Lindor is 22). All three players talked about what it means to represent Puerto Rico in the World Series and how theyve enjoyed watching the others play.Baez: Its very exciting and great for our Puerto Rico (for us to be seeing success). The growth in certain sports has really diminished in Puerto Rico, especially baseball and basketball, and we want to inspire more young people to continue moving forward and to fight for their dreams. What better example than what Lindor and I have done to get here -- and please dont leave Bebo (Perez)?out, because he is also making Puerto Rico proud.Lindor: For the people in Puerto Rico, theyre very excited. Theyre excited, and they should be. Were doing it for them, so they should be excited. I hope they are, because every time we do something, were thinking about it. Were thinking about our plan for the World Baseball Classic, and its going to be fun. Im looking forward to it.Lindor: With all the things that have happened to Javy Baez the last year and a half, this is super exciting. Im so happy for him, for his family. Javy texted me the next morning, after he got the MVP (in the National League Championship Series), and said, Mi amor, is this a dream? And I texted him back saying I think so, and I havent woken up yet. It is a dream come true for my family and for his family. He is a wonderful person, and I was so happy when he won the MVP.Perez: They deserve all the attention they get because of their talent and the potential they have to be super stars. I am just really happy for both of them, for their much deserved success.?I dont care about being recognized or talked about. That doesnt faze me. It motivates me to quietly just keepp working harder. Tanner Lee Jersey. .Lindor: We both love to have fun; we both play hard and do whatever it takes to win. We also do things rooted in pride. The pride we have in our families and in our homeland. I think the main difference between us is that Javier looks a lot more intimidating, he commands more attention, and I think that he is an incredible hitter. I have to learn to hit like him. He is incredible -- but please dont tell him I said that.Baez: Lindor and I played against each other in high school, and in the little kid version of the World Series, and now we are getting the chance to play against each other here. Its so big for us and for the island. There are no words to describe it.Perez: Lindor and Jose Ramirez are the spark plugs of our team. If it wasnt for them, we wouldnt be in the position we are in today.Lindor: Perez has been so good calling games for us this season. He really knows his pitchers. He has been a calming presence behind the plate. He has been great controlling the running game. He keeps our pitching staff calm and focused. Thats his personality -- he doesnt get too up or too down.Baez: This is something we have been waiting for for a long time; we are very proud to be a part of it. We have been dedicated to growing the sport and finally we are reaping the benefits of all that hard work. Its not surprising because Puerto Rico is an island that has given baseball a lot of great players, and we did go down for a while, but we are coming back.Lindor: We hope the young people in Puerto Rico understand that Javy and I grew up with very few things, but we had the support of our parents, the support of our family and the desire and hunger to excel. I hope they understand that one can achieve anything, no matter your background. We want to inspire all kids, not only from Puerto Rico, but from all of Latin America. All you need is support and the commitment and desire to be better every single day. Im living proof that dreams can come true. NEW YORK -- Pitcher Nick Goody has been traded from the New York Yankees to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named or $50,000. Chris Tierney Jersey .The teams said Tuesday the swap must be completed by May 5.A 25-year-old right-hander, Goody had a 4.66 ERA in 27 relief appearances for the Yankees this year, striking out 34 in 29 innings. He was a sixth-round pick in the 2012 amateur draft and was sidelined following reconstructive right elbow surgery in April 2013. Goody made his big league debut in July 2015 and pitched in seven games for New York that year.He was designated for assignment Dec. 15 to open a roster spot needed when the Yankees completed their $86 million, five-year contract with free agent reliever Aroldis Chapman. Barclay Goodrow Jersey . Anthony Davis had 31 points and 17 rebounds in his seventh straight game with more than 20 points, but that was only enough to keep the Pelicans competitive into the final minutes. Patrice Bergeron and Daniel Paille scored 20 seconds apart a few minutes after Stamkos was taken off the ice on a stretcher with a broken right leg, and the Bruins beat the Lightning 3-0 on Monday afternoon. . PETERSBURG, Fla. BERKELEY, Calif. -- Growing up in Texas, Davis Webb knew all about the Big Game rivalry between California and Stanford. Now as he finishes up his only season as starting quarterback at Cal, Webb gets to experience it first hand when the Golden Bears (4-6, 2-5 Pac-12) host the Cardinal (7-3, 5-3) on Saturday.I dont think theres anything like this game, he said. Theres so much tradition, so much pageantry and so many great players that have played in this game. Im just excited to be a part of it. From afar, living in Dallas, everybody knew what the Big Game was. Its going to be one of the greatest experiences Ive ever had in my life. While the Big Game is new to Webb, it has been part of Stanford coach David Shaws life for decades.Shaw remembers watching his first as a high school senior in 1989 when his father, Willie, was an assistant at Stanford and immediately noticed the heightened noise, energy and excitement in the stadium. That only increased the following year when Shaw was a player at Stanford and the Cardinal rallied for a 27-25 win after scoring a touchdown with 12 seconds left, missing a 2-point conversion, recovering an onside kick and capitalizing on two personal fouls to set up John Hopkins game-winning field goal.I say this every year, to the freshmen from all over the country and maybe the sophomores who didnt play last year, to not be surprised by the emotion as you walk through the stadium. Youre going to feel it, Shaw said. I feel it as a coach. Im an alum. Im a Stanford guy. And Big Game is always Big.Here are some other things to watch:BIG GAME STREAK: The rivalry has been extremely one-sided of late with Stanford winning the past six meetings -- one shy of the longest streak in series history held by the Cardinal from 1995-2001. Only one of those games was decided by fewer than 10 points annd the average margin of victory has been 23. Mikkel Boedker Jersey. .2 points per game.Thatd be a pretty cool legacy to leave, to be a part of a team that was able to beat Stanford, Webb said.BOWL BID: After opening the season 4-3, Cal has lost three straight games to put the Bears hopes of returning to a bowl game in serious jeopardy. The Bears must win their final two games against Stanford and UCLA to become bowl eligible, although they could have an outside shot of making a bowl with five wins if there are not enough six-win teams to fill up all the slots. We know whats at stake, Cal receiver Bug Rivera said. Everybody knows whats at stake. Wed really like to get that bowl opportunity and think were going to get it done.CHRYSTS PROGRESS: After going just 24 for 47 for 164 yards in his first two starts, Stanford quarterback Keller Chryst showed signs of improvement last week at Oregon. He completed 19 of 26 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns.Hes been making incremental improvements the first two games, Shaw said. Its the execution of the offense. All the positive signs were there in practice. No one wants it more and no one is pushing himself harder than Keller. All he has to do is play his part. He doesnt have to take the game over.STOPPING McCAFFREY: After being slowed by an undisclosed injury last month, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey has been back to his dynamic self the past three weeks. He has rushed for 503 yards at an average of 7.0 yards per carry and scored seven TDs in that span. He faces a Cal run defense that is second-worst in the FBS, allowing 283.4 yards rushing per game.---More AP college football: and Jerseys From China Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys NFL China Cheap Jerseys 2019 NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys 2019 Cheap Jerseys Wholesale ' ' '

Bath are quickly leaving last seasons troubles behind them after following up last weeks rare win at Northampton with an eight-try thrashing of Newcastle at the Recreation Ground. Cheap Grizzlies Jerseys .It was all smiles among the Kiwi coaching duo of Todd Blackadder and Tabai Matson sitting in the new West Stand at the Recreation Ground as Bath secured the try bonus point before half-time, during a 58-5 victory.A penalty try was followed by others from Matt Banahan, Semesa Rokoduguni (2), Kane Palma-Newport, Dave Attwood (2), and new signing from Gloucester, Elliott Stooke.Skipper George Ford kicked 18 points, including six conversions, in a near-impeccable all-round performance. The England fly-half had opened the scoring with a 14th-minute penalty after Rokoduguni countered powerfully from his own 22.Baths powerful carrying then presented the Bath fly-half with a gift-wrapped drop-goal opportunity to make it 6-0 on 22 minutes but he pushed a penalty attempt wide soon afterwards. With the home sides scrum dominant and Fords touch-finders inch-perfect, two tries in three minutes around the half-hour swung matters even more decisively.First Rokoduguni fielded a ball on his own 22 and, rather than kicking it back, set off on another explosive run.His chip and chase seemed inconclusive as the ball bounced awkwardly between competing players before rolling over the dead-ball line. But advice from the TMO led referee Ian Tempest to award a penalty try and send Newcastle wing Vereniki Goneva to the sin bin for a deliberate knock-on.There was controversy too about Baths second try as Kahn Fotualii combined with Banahan on the blindside of a scrum and was on hand again to chip over into open space.Newcastle were claiming a Bath knock-on as Banahan judged the bounce to give Ford another easy conversion for 20-0.The irrepressible Rokoduguni then added two tries himself before the break, both straightforward finishes in the corner after Newcastle were run off their feet.Ford was wide with the second conversion but Baths half-time lead was still a daunting 32-0, with the try bonus point in the bag. There was no let-up after the break as tighthead Palma-Newport finished off a bullocking run by Banahan, and Attwood forced his way over in the corner for try number six. Both scrum-half Fotualii and Jonathan Joseph departed to ovations after five-star performances but Rhys Priestlands appearance off the bench was a brief one as he soon limped off again.Attwood set the scoreboard ticking again, smashing through from a tapped penalty, and Fords fifth conversion brought up the half-century.Ally Hogg finally put Newcastle on the scoreboard but Bath had the last word through Stooke. Englands increasingly proficient one-day side might well offer a beacon of hope for those looking for a distraction this week. England cricket fans knew the meaning of omnishambles long before it was added to the dictionary and might regard it as something of a perversity that, after the countrys footballers were put on ice by the smallest nation at Euro 2016 and as politicians continue exploring the realms beyond satire, it is their sport that provides a fleeting opportunity for optimism. It is not so long ago that Englands ODI players were sent packing from a major tournament to the accompaniment of boos and hisses, of course. Eoin Morgan is periodically asked to reflect on how far England have come since the 2015 World Cup and his responses to how the culture of the limited-overs teams has been changed, and where they can continue to improve, are typically well-rehearsed and emotion-free. Is it a stretch to suggest his cool captaincy and emphasis on collective enjoyment feels ever-so-slightly Icelandic?Morgan is no football fan, however, and England are one of the most well-resourced teams in cricket, so it is hard to make theirs an underdog story - no matter how mangy their one-day performances have been over the last couple of decades. Englands captain, who perhaps took slightly more of an interest during Irelands Euro 2016 defeat on Sunday, did concede that emotions are probably running high with everybody around the country at the moment but stopped short of endorsing the appointment of an Australian as Roy Hodgsons successor.Coincidentally, Hodgson watched Englands cricketers train the last time they prepared for a match at The Oval (one they lost by an innings to Australia) but he has now joined Peter Moores and Stuart Lancaster in the most recent ranks of English coaching disaster. Morgan was more interested in Eddie Jones success in turning around the rugby team - its been phenomenal to watch a whitewash against Australia on home soil - but eventually talk turned to his ongoing project alongside Trevor Bayliss in improving Englands ODI stocks.A tie at Trent Bridge, where Liam Plunketts last-ball six salvaged a game that appeared lost, was followed by more consummate displays in both disciplines at Edgbaston and another solid bowling performance, before the rain arrived to wipe out any chance of a result at Bristol. That means England still need to win one of the final two matches to secure the series - and they may come up against the weather again at The Oval, with a poor forecast for the afternoon. Its very important we work hard, they are a strong side, we dont take them for granted, Morgan said. The series still stands at 1-0, given weve played some really good cricket and not been able to capiitalise because of the weather. Youth Grizzlies Jerseys. Tomorrow again it is going to be tough to get it to that point but its important to emphasise the hard work that needs to be put in.As England have broken records with regularity over the last 12 months, it has been the batsmen that have taken the plaudits - most recently with Alex Hales and Jason Roy knocking off the highest successful chase for a team winning by ten wickets. However, the bowling has stood out so far in this series, with Sri Lanka limited to totals of 286 for 9, 254 for 7 and 248 for 9. England have got by on five specialist bowlers in each match, with Joe Root contributing three overs of back-up spin, and while Morgan said he would prefer to have more options - such as when Ben Stokes has been fit to play as an allrounder in the top six - results had been encouraging. At the moment it has worked, ideally we would have more but our strength has been our batting and to stick with that sends quite a lot of confidence through the changing room, Morgan said of the teams balance. It throws it over to the bowlers, more responsibility on them and they have done pretty well with it. Sometimes if you go in with six out-and-out bowlers it can be off the pace a little bit, when you pack your team with batters and if they play poorly you wonder if they rely too much on other people. Its a balance you just have to stay with what you feel is right for the team.England have become more accustomed to viewing the limited-overs formats as a squad game and Morgan said there were still plenty of options to consider ahead of next years Champions Trophy. Steven Finn has yet to play a game in the series - in part thanks to Liam Plunketts strong form - and Stuart Broads name continues to linger at edge of selectoral discussions.Meanwhile, a combination of poor batting, good batting (from Hales and Roy) and poor weather, means that Morgan, Root and Jonny Bairstow have had little opportunity for time in the middle. For that reason, as well as the desire to avoid going to Cardiff still only 1-0 up, England will hope the rain stays away over south London on Wednesday. As Hodgson, who led his team through a perfect qualifying campaign for Euro 2016, would attest, you can never be too well prepared for the challenges ahead. There is a lot of talk going into tournaments about knowing your best 11 but its more than that. A guy goes down in the first game, must-win, its more than having 11 - its how big your squad is. When you turn to guys at certain stages of a tournament you have got to be able to trust them, its not just your best team, but best squad. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Despite a 3-7 record, New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said Wednesday hes pleased with Todd Bowles but added that Bowles has room to grow as a head coach. We knew there would be adversity along the way, but hes very consistent and very focused, and I think he has a very good pulse on the team and the locker room, Maccagnan said, speaking to reporters for the first time since training camp. I do think hes going to be a very good head coach in this league.Asked to evaluate Bowles 2016 performance, he said, I think Todd is going to be a very good head coach in this league, and I think hes doing a good job now.Maccagnan, who was hired on the same day as Bowles in January 2015, doesnt have the power to fire Bowles. Under the organizational structure, he and Bowles report directly to owner Woody Johnson. They had no previous relationship before coming to the Jets. Together, they led the team to a 10-6 record last season, falling just short of the playoffs.?Maccagnan addressed a variety of topics during a 30-minute sit-down with reporters, including the future of cornerback Darrelle Revis, 31, whose play has noticeably declined. The Jets are paying him a team-high $17 million this season, yet Maccagnan stopped short of committing to Revis for 2017.There are glitches in his play, but he has played very well at times this year, Maccagnan said. We have six games to go. Well see how the season progresses, and well evaluate it at the end of tthe season. Haason Reddick Jersey. Maccagnans first big splash as general manager was bringing Revis back to the Jets, signing him to a five-year, $70 million contract. Hes due to make $15 million in 2017, including $6 million fully guaranteed.Maccagnan said he doesnt regret the contract.Revis has no interceptions and only two pass breakups and has struggled in at least three games. If the Jets decide to keep him, they almost certainly will ask him to take a pay cut.Darrelle, obviously, has set a very high standard in how hes played in his past, Maccagnan said. We still think hes a good football player. We still think hes done good things for us this year.Im sure, if you ask him, there are certain plays hed like to have back. Those are questions well answer at the end of the season.Revis has been criticized by fans and media for not giving full effort on a couple of plays in which he appeared to shy away from tackles. Maccagnan said hes happy with Revis effort but added, Im sure some plays hed like to have back, but you watch a lot of other plays where he does give effort.Maccagnan defended the Muhammad Wilkerson contract (five years, $86 million), saying hes pleased to have the Pro Bowl defensive end under contract even though hes not producing. Wilkerson also was disciplined for missing a walk-through practice and showing up late for meetings.
