ST. PAUL , Minn. (AP) — Finishing a tiring stretch with four games in six nights, the Minnesota Wild twice faced a two-goal deficit in the first to the dangerous Tampa Bay Lightning.Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau has learned a very important lesson about his team in the early part of this season, though. The Wild know they can come back from slow starts.Mikael Granlund scored 3:43 into overtime and Minnesota beat Tampa Bay 5-4 on Saturday night.Charlie Coyle, Marcus Foligno, Zach Parise and Jason Zucker all scored in regulation as the Wild rallied again in the third period. Minnesota has allowed the first goal in six straight games but is 4-1-1 in those contests.“I’d much prefer to start out 2-0 and then increase it, but it’s also a really good thing when a team starts to believe it can come back,” Boudreau said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to be with some teams that in the third period when they were down, they said, ‘OK, we know we can score goals.’ And they do.“It’s not what you want to have to rely on all the time but it’s nice to know that you never give up and you never think you’re out of it.”Alex Stalock made 27 saves for the Wild, who outshot the Lightning 11-4 in the third period.Yanni Gourde and J.T. Miller each had a goal and assist for Tampa Bay, which lost in its first road game of the season.Ryan Callahan scored his first of the season for the Lightning and Anton Stralman pushed the game into overtime with his first goal of the season with 4:58 left in the third after Minnesota took its first lead of the game.“You’re playing well, you’re feeling good, we were pressing, pressing, pressing,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. “We scored and then we probably got a little bit comfortable. It’s funny, when we went behind, the desperation kicked in and showed a lot about our resiliency just to get a point out of the game.”Andrei Vasilekskiy made 29 saves for the Lightning William Karlsson Jersey , who had their three-game winning streak snapped as they played on the road after a season-opening, five-game homestand.Tampa Bay got a quick start with goals from Callahan and Gourde within the first 10:50. Callahan was playing in his just his second game after recovering from an upper-body injury.Coyle’s goal brought Minnesota within one, but Miller scored before the end of the first to re-establish the two-goal advantage. The Lightning outshot the Wild 16-9 in the first.“This one stings,” Tampa Bay defenseman Ryan McDonagh said. “We had it going on all cylinders there in the first period and felt good about ourselves. We can’t let our foot off the gas pedal there against any team in this league, especially on the road. So, lesson learned.”Foligno scored his first of the season for the only tally of the second period and Parise tied the game 10:45 into the third.Zucker gave the Wild the lead as they pressured Vasilevskiy. But Stralman, on just the team’s third shot of the period, pushed Minnesota into overtime for the third time in five home games.“I think we’re saving it in the first, as of right now,” Wild forward Jason Zucker said. “We need to try and fix that. As long as we’re getting the wins right now, I think we’re going to be happy with it.”NOTES: Wild C Matt Hendricks missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury. … Vasilevskiy had not allowed more than two goals in a game this season. … Stalock started for the second time this season in place of Devan Dubnyk, who made 33 saves in a win at Dallas the previous night. … Tampa Bay hasn’t won in Minnesota since April 2, 2011, losing seven games in a row. … The Wild were 0 for 2 on the power play. OTTAWA Nazem Kadri Jersey , Ontario (AP) With their own playoff hopes long gone, the Ottawa Senators are taking great satisfaction in making life harder for those still fighting for a spot.Mike Hoffman scored his 22nd goal at 3:26 of overtime and the Senators beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Friday night to win their third game in a row for just the second time this season.Marian Gaborik and Matt Duchene also scored for the Senators (26-33-11), and Craig Anderson made 23 saves. Ottawa won on home ice for the first time since Feb. 17.”We’re showing what kind of team we really are in here,” Duchene said. ”It’s too bad it’s so late in the season and we couldn’t have done this a little earlier, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. We want to go into the summer on a high note and we’re on our way.”Tyler Seguin and Tyler Pitlick had the goals for the Stars (38-26-8). Ben Bishop, who stopped 22 shots, made his first start since missing five games with a knee injury sustained March 5 against the Senators. Bishop has a 9-0-4 career record against Ottawa.Dallas, in the thick of a crowded playoff race, has lost four straight for its longest skid of the season.”It’s very disappointing,” Pitlick said. ”Every point is important right now.”Stars coach Ken Hitchcock chose to look at the one point his team earned in a more favorable light.”This is a great point,” he said. ”To come back and we’ve got nothing left in the tank and we keep pushing, this is a good point. The (6-5 overtime loss on Wednesday) in Toronto was tough, it’s really tough Danton Heinen Jersey Kids , but this is a great point. Ottawa has a lot of skill and a lot of speed and they put us to the test and to come back and get a point in this game after we almost gave it away is good. We move on.”The Stars did themselves no favors in the third. The Senators started the period on a power play and were able to take advantage as Gaborik scored his 10th of the season on a one-timer off some solid work from Thomas Chabot and Ryan Dzingel to tie it at 1.”We’ve done a good job staying strong mentally,” Ottawa coach Guy Boucher said. ”We don’t score the first goal and we’re still winning the game – we’ve had a few of those lately and I think our players are looking really good. But I’ve been saying it for a long time and now we’re getting some results.”The Stars didn’t register their first shot until the 16th minute of the period, shortly after the Senators took a 2-1 lead on Duchene’s goal.Duchene took the puck on his backhand, moved it to his forehand and beat Bishop high from in close. Just more than a minute later, the Stars tied it 2-all as Pitlick put the puck past Anderson.Neither team seemed to be able to get much going in the second.Jean-Gabriel Pageau had a great chance but rang a shot off the post, and the Stars hit one at the other end.Mark Borowiecki took an elbow to the mouth midway through the game and went to the dressing room, but was able to return.Pitlick took a late double-minor for high sticking Senators defenseman Ben Harpur with just under a minute left in the second to set up Ottawa for a three-minute man advantage to open the third. The Stars opened the scoring midway through the first on the power play as some good passing led to Jamie Benn feeding Seguin for a one-timer and his 38th goal of the season, a career high. The Senators had their chances but hit the post three times, twice on the same power play.Benn had a strange moment late in the game when he fell on Erik Karlsson’s stick and wouldn’t let it go and then took it to the Stars’ bench. He later asked Karlsson if he could have it, and the Senators’ captain gladly gave it up.”I’ll gladly give a good player that stick,” said Karlsson, who acknowledged he’d never had anyone ask him for a stick during a game before.NOTES: Ottawa’s Mark Stone missed his third straight game with a leg injury. … Stars D Marc Methot sat out his second consecutive game with a hand injury. The former Senator and Ottawa native was set to play his first game against the team since being selected in the expansion draft by the Vegas Golden Knights and later traded to Dallas.UP NEXTStars: At the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night.Senators: At the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.— NEW YORK (AP) Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals used a fast start to end a perfect road trip.Ovechkin scored his NHL-leading 45th goal and the Capitals extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Monday night.T.J. Oshie, Matt Niskanen and Evgeny Kuznetsov also scored for Washington Authentic Mitchell Marner Jersey , which went 3-0 at Detroit, Montreal and Madison Square Garden.Nicklas Backstrom, who had four assists in a win over Montreal on Saturday, added two more to give him 44 this season. Philipp Grubauer made 28 saves.”Tonight we got really loose in the second two periods there, they really took it to us,” Oshie said. ”Without Grub, we might be in overtime right now.”Washington increased its lead to five points over two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh for first place in the Metropolitan Division.”We’ve still got to keep going and keep getting points every night,” Oshie said.Lias Andersson scored in his NHL debut and Mats Zuccarello added a goal for the Rangers.Andersson, at 19 years, 164 days, became the youngest player in team history to score in his NHL debut. He broke the mark set by Mike Allison (19 years, 195 days) on Oct. 9, 1980 , at Boston.”It feels good, obviously,” Andersson said. ”It’s always fun to score and especially in your first NHL game, so it was fun.”The Capitals scored four goals in the first period and cruised from there.”I think we jumped in right away,” Ovechkin said. ”I think we had pretty good chances in the first couple of shifts. Osh scored, Nisky’s goal is pretty sick. How he scored, it was pretty impressive.”Oshie gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead 2:50 into the game with his 18th of the season. Backstrom skated the puck into the zone and had three Rangers near him when he passed to an open Oshie at the right faceoff circle and he beat Alexandar Georgiev with a wrister.Niskanen made it 2-0 just 2:23 later. Kuznetsov skated with the puck at the blue line and sent a backhand pass to Niskanen, who had plenty of time to score his seventh of the season at 5:13Ovechkin scored on a one-timer on the power play from his favorite spot in the left faceoff circle at 8:54. Georgiev was pulled after allowing three goals on six shots.Ondrej Pavelec replaced him and made 26 saves. It was Pavelec’s first appearance since Feb. 9 against Calgary.Kuznetsov finished off the dominant first period with a short-handed goal at 16:39.”We talked about this road trip,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. ”We’ve had really terrible starts. We put a lot of emphasis on the first period, obviously. We were able to get their goaltender out and obviously built a lead.”Andersson and Filip Chytil gave the Rangers a glimpse of the franchise’s future. Andersson and Chytil, both 2017 first-round draft picks and centers, were promoted from the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Hartford on Sunday.Chytil centered a line with Kevin Hayes and Zuccarello. Andersson centered a line with Jimmy Vesey and Ryan Spooner and got the Rangers on the board. Andersson cut it to 4-1 late in the second period when Vesey worked the puck behind the net and sent a pass to Andersson, who wristed it past Grubauer at 13:16.”It was a great feeling to see him score his first goal Nikita Zaitsev Jersey Kids ,” Chytil said of Andersson. ”It was something special. We will talk about it tonight. It’s great that he scored his first goal in his first game.”Chytil assisted on Zuccarello’s 16th goal at 4:26 of the third for his first NHL point.”Both kids had a good game,” Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. ”It was an emotional day and an emotional game for them, but I thought they played well.”NOTES: Devante Smith-Pelly, Shane Gersich and Christian Djoos were scratched by the Capitals. … According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Andersson and Chytil became the first pair of teenagers to get a point in the same game with the Rangers since Dec. 18, 1974 (Ron Greschner and Dave Maloney). Chytil played two games earlier in the season with New York. … Henrik Lundqvist, David Desharnais, Peter Holland, Paul Carey and Tony DeAngelo were the healthy scratches for the Rangers.UP NEXTThe teams play the second half of a back-to-back Wednesday night in Washington.—

The Vegas Golden Knights are among the NHL teams with the most salary cap space going into free agency Womens Justin Abdelkader Jersey , giving the Western Conference champions some chips to put on the table in a bid to get back to the Stanley Cup Final.Vegas had nearly $30 million to spend going into the weekend, according to, trailing only the New York Islanders by about $2 million. The Golden Knights seem set up for major moves if general manager George McPhee wants to bolster the second-year team with free agents.Vegas didn’t appear to have a shot at landing the top prize on the market John Tavares . But the Golden Knights may make a run at some other available veterans to help increase their chances of competing at a championship level again next season.Players such as James van Riemsdyk and Paul Stastny would fit in up front with a team that stunningly exceeded expectations during the franchise’s inaugural season. Mike Green, perhaps the best defenseman available, is another veteran that would mesh well as a puck-moving defenseman for the speedy team. However, McPhee may not want to pay a heavy price with long-term contracts to land any of the top players on the market. He may choose to re-sign his own free agents, sign goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who has one year left on his deal, to a contract extension. He may roll with the talented players on his roster while trying to draft and develop. The Golden Knights have some free agents of their own they’ll want to bring back. James Neal Luke Glendening Jersey , David Perron and Ryan Reaves are unrestricted free agents with a chance to cash in on their performances last season by re-signing with Vegas or leaving to take advantage of a thin crop of available players.Vegas’ key restricted free agents are: William Karlsson, Colin Miller, Shea Theodore, Tomas Nosek and Will Carrier. Keeping Karlsson, without a doubt, will be a priority. Here’s a look at some other teams positioned to make major moves:NEW YORK ISLANDERSThe Islanders had nearly $32 million in cap space the day before free agency began, giving them more money to spend than any other team in the league. They’ll need a lot of that money to retain Tavares, who is easily the best player potentially available. The 27-year-old star center can command an eight-year deal to stay in New York for perhaps $10 million, or more Martin Frk Jersey , per season.NEW YORK RANGERSThe Rangers were $27-plus million under the cap going into the weekend, but had just 13 players under contract. They will have to spend about $10 million next season to retain restricted free agents Vladislav Namestnikov, Kevin Hayes and Ryan Spooner.TORONTO MAPLE LEAFSThe franchise hopes to sign Tavares, who is from the Toronto area, to give it a second star to go along with 20-year-old Auston Matthews. Toronto will have some tough choices to make with some of its own players potentially on the unrestricted free agent market such as van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Tomas Plekanec and Leo Komarov. William Nylander, a restricted free agent, will be a priority to keep after consecutive 61-point seasons.VANCOUVER CANUCKSWith twin brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin retiring after counting $7 million each against the cap last season , the Canucks had nearly $25 million in cap space going into the weekend. They’ll probably have to pay free agents more and offer longer-term contracts than other suitors because they’ve been among the worst teams in the league the last three seasons.— Two teams looking for a major spark will get together Tuesday night when the Anaheim Ducks host the Philadelphia Flyers at Honda Center. The Ducks have lost five in a row, their longest losing streak in three years, while the Flyers have dropped their past three games by a combined score of 13-2.The game in Anaheim will be the start of a four-game West Coast trip for the Flyers (4-7-0) , their only visit to California and Arizona this season. Team captain Claude Giroux told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the road trip should provide an opportunity for the team to bond away from the ice.Article continues below ...“That’s what we need right now,” Giroux said. “We need to get closer as a team, we need to go out there and play for each other, and this road trip is going to be very important for the season.”The Ducks (5-5-2) opened a four-game homestand Sunday night against the San Jose Sharks and played better than in the previous four games, rallying from a 3-1 deficit in the second period with two goals from recent waiver acquisition Pontus Aberg, but they eventually lost 4-3 in overtime.Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle stressed the importance of staying positive during this rut.“There is our fair share of work that needs to be done Womens Nick Jensen Jersey , but for us it’s about taking the next step,” he said. “Right now, we’re a hockey club that has to try to create an identity, and we did that in the last 30 minutes of (the San Jose) game.”Anaheim has been trying to play with a faster pace, but the process seems to be creating more scoring chances for the opposition than the Ducks. The Sharks outshot Anaheim 19-8 in the first period and 34-17 through two before finishing with a 45-27 edge. The Ducks are allowing a league-high 39.1 shots per game while taking a league-low 24.5.“We have to get to the bottom of that,” Ducks defenseman Josh Manson said. The Ducks have been repeatedly bailed out by goaltenders John Gibson and Ryan Miller. Gibson is sixth in the NHL with a .938 save percentage, and Miller also has a .938 save percentage in three appearances, including two starts. Despite the heavy volume of shots against, they’ve helped limit the team’s goals-against average to 2.75 Thomas Vanek Jersey , which is 12th-best in the NHL.The Flyers haven’t received nearly as quality of goaltending, a major reason why they’re allowing a league-high 4.18 goals per game. The Flyers have also struggled on the penalty kill, allowing a league-high 13 power-play goals for a league-worst kill rate of 67.5 percent. They’ve allowed six power-play goals in the past four games.“We can’t give up,” Philadelphia center Scott Laughton told the Inquirer. “On the bench, you’ve got to stay positive, keep encouraging guys, and it’s only these guys in here that’s going to get us out of it. No one’s going to feel sorry for us that we’re under .500.”

Larry Fitzgerald Arizona Cardinals Hats , Michael Bidwill among those at John McCain’s Capitol viewing While I understand this is a fan page for the Cardinals, I feel that it is necessary to pay our respects to Arizona Senator John McCain, who lost his battle with brain cancer on August 25, 2018. I have lived in Arizona my entire life, and in the days following Senator McCain’s death, I have come to realize that he has been my senator since the day I was born. He has also been an Arizona Senator for the entire time the Cardinals have called Arizona home. It is a little strange to think these last few days have been our first without Senator McCain serving our state. It is common knowledge that Senator McCain was a POW during the Vietnam war. In October of 1967, while serving as a Navy aviator, he was captured by the North Vietnamese after his plane was shot down over Hanoi. It was reported that McCain had several broken bones and was held in solitary confinement for over a year. He was also subject to other forms of torture, which had the end goal of extracting information. McCain proved to be tough to break. When asked to give up the names of the men in his squadron, McCain instead listed Green Bay Packers offensive line.In total, McCain ended up spending five and a half years as a prisoner. He could have been released nearly four years earlier, but he refused to leave until all those captured before him were also released. This is something that McCain’s friend, Larry Fitzgerald, believes is true heroism. Fitzgerald, who spends his off-seasons travelling the globe, has visited Truc Bach Lake where McCain’s plane was shot down. While visiting Vietnam, Fitz toured the lake, the prison cell Arizona Cardinals Hoodie , and learned of the conditions and torture that McCain endured. McCain and Fitzgerald’s friendship grew after this experience. Fitz has toured the Senate in Washington DC, with McCain, and has been a guest panelist at McCain’s global summit in Sedona, AZ. The friendship went both ways, as it wasn’t just Fitz stepping into McCain’s world. The senator had become a mainstay at Cardinals practices and games over the years. Senator McCain’s passing has caused a wave of grief within the Cardinals organization, with Cardinals President, Michael Bidwell saying, “We are heart-broken by his passing but know that the character, courage and conviction that he demonstrated throughout his life will endure forever.”Larry Fitzgerald also offered his condolences via Twitter, “Rest in peace to an American hero, statesman, servant of the people, and dear friend. Godspeed Senator McCain. My prayers for Cindy and the beautiful McCain family.”Fitzgerald joined former Vice President Joe Biden, and other dignitaries speaking at Senator McCain’s Phoenix memorial service. McCain left his mark across other Arizona sports teams as well, as former Coyotes captain Shane Doan and former Diamondbacks outfielder Luis Gonzalez served as pallbearers at the service.I would like to thank Senator McCain for his service to our state, and to our nation. He has served with dignity, and has earned the respect of his peers on both sides of the aisle. Even if you didn’t always agree with McCain’s political dialogue, it would be difficult to question his courage or patriotism. My heart goes out to the McCain family in this very difficult time.Sunday Night Open Thread: Arizona Cardinals get Sunday off of camp Happy Sunday night one and all Customized Arizona Cardinals Jerseys , hope your weekend has been a good one.The Arizona Cardinals had Sunday off, now they are drawing near the end of training camp.Date Practice TimeSaturday, 7/28 1:30-4:00 PMSunday, 7/29 1:30-4:00 PM**Monday, 7/30 8:00-10:40 AMThursday, 8/2 3:00-5:15 PMSaturday, 8/4 1:30-4:00 PM (Red & White Practice)Monday, 8/6 3:00-5:15 PMWednesday, 8/8 1:30-4:00 PM**Thursday, 8/9 8:00-10:40 AMSaturday, 8/11 Preseason game vs. L.A. Corey Peters is one of the anchors on a young defense, he also is one of the best against the run in the NFL, so he’ll be key in the Cardinals defensive scheme change. The final 30 year old is Gresham. On one of the worst contracts in the NFL, the tight end will be coming off an achilles injury coming into his year 30.The Cardinals are putting quite a bit on their older players heading into 2018, and how they play will determine the quality of the season in Wilks first year.

SI worries about Josh Rosen’s mood When the Josh Rosen talk was happening leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft Cheap Christian Kirk Jersey , the conversation was literally never about his work on the field.Instead, it was always about the person of Rosen, ignoring the glowing reviews of the work on the field. In May, Albert Breer wrote quite the article wondering if Rosen was meant for the NFL:On Monday, Breer’s colleague, Robert Klemko, was at the Arizona Cardinals training camp and came away with some not so great things to say about Rosen as well:The amazing thing is, that up until Saturday’s woeful performance by the second team offense, the buzz about camp was Josh Rosen, his personality, how he is handling the rigors of the NFL and clicking with teammates:That’s what is always the interesting part about these reports from camp.Writers come in for a day Youth Robert Nkemdiche Jersey , make a sweeping conclusion, then blow out of town. Was Rosen just having an off day, was he frustrated with himself or with his teammates, or was it just the realization of wasting time not getting in sync and in rhythm before a chance to work in a live game with the first team offense? Was there even anything to the story itself or was this just a single man’s interpretation of the events?I guess this is what happens when you get a big time quarterback prospect finally. The Arizona Cardinals have invested a lot into their offensive line. They picked up D.J. Humphries’ fifth-year option worth $9.625 million, drafted Mason Cole in the third round, signed Andre Smith to a two-year $8 million contract, and once upon a time had Mike Iupati on a five-year $40 million contract. Justin Pugh was supposedly one of the best guards in 2018 free agency, which is why he was signed to a five-year $45 million contract. Despite allowing only one sack on the season, Pugh, according to Pro Football Focus, is one of the worst offensive guards in the NFL. His 51.1 overall grade thus far is the sixth worst among the 64 eligible guards. Caleb Benenoch Cheap Josh Rosen Jersey , Vladimir Ducasse, Dan Feeney, Jon Feliciano, and Cardinals’ Mike Iupati are the only guards that rank below him. The Cardinals offensive line as a whole isn’t any better, ranking as the worst unit in the NFL according to PFF. Their 40 combined pressures allowed by the interior lineman is concerning. There’s still plenty of time for Pugh to turn things around. But, how much more money do the Cardinals need to invest into this offensive line until they get some good results?Cardinals GM Steve Keim had a higher grade on Justin Pugh than Andrew Norwell in free agency. Maybe versatility was more important than anything else but Norwell was clearly the better guard. Keim’s overall ability to analyze and scout offensive lineman is put more into question. They are scheduled to take on the Minnesota Vikings this weekend, a team boasting arguably the best front seven in the NFL. The Cardinals can’t continue to put up lackluster performances on the offense, especially if they want to keep up against a high-scoring Vikings’ team. The improvements must start up front and the offensive line needs to step up their game.

Tonight the Seahawks head to London while the Raiders fly out Thursday night. The two teams which are a few hundred miles apart in the states Authentic Rashaan Melvin Jersey , flying halfway around the world to face each other. Both teams are doing the trip non-stop from the West coast to London, which is about an 11-hour flight. The Seahawks will have a couple days to recover while the Raiders will have one day. According to Jon Gruden, he may need a lot more than a day or even a couple days.“I don’t know. I hope I can make it, honestly. I’m not great. I get claustrophobic,” said Gruden. “My son wasa weightlifter and he won a powerlifting competition in Belarus. I had to fly 14 hours. I had to fly home 14 hours. I had vertigo for a month. I couldn’t even lay down, the house was spinning. I am hoping I don’t get vertigo. I’m not a great traveler. I’ll be honest with you, I hate it. I’m not good. I’m concerned. I’m more worried about that than our goal-line offense right now.”The Raiders made the trip to London back in 2014. That year they chose to play in New England the week before Youth Kolton Miller Jersey , then fly into London and spend the week practicing there. That allowed them to better acclimate to the game. Then they went out and looked terrible, but that was mainly because they were just a terrible overall team. Dennis Allen was fired after the game, and the Raiders went on to lose six more after that. There are only two players from that 2014 team who will take the field Sunday. But there is one coach as well, and he is a savvy veteran when it comes to playing in London. Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson.“I know it’s seven for sure, maybe eight,” Olson said of how many trips he’s made to London for a game. The last two of those games were while he was the OC in Jacksonville which has played a game in London every season since 2013, so this will be the seventh time Olson has played in London in his coaching career.“I enjoy the trip , really. I think it’s good for team bonding. It’s good to get away for a little bit in a long season. I think it’s great this time in the schedule, Game 6, I think with the four preseason games it’s the half way part of the season. I think it’s a real good time for the team to bond. Get over there, be away from any distractions and just a good time to be with your teammates.” Olson has spent the week in London leading up to the game, obviously with the Raiders, and probably with other teams as well, and said he prefers to head over a day before the game as opposed to spending the week there.“I think it was good for our players to be here and rehab and rest here and be in their own beds and have a chance to sleep. We started by having an early week. They actually are going to get an extra day of rest Friday on the travel day and tomorrow night so I think we will be fresh and ready to go. I like the way that they set it up Tahir Whitehead Jersey , our trainers and our strength staff, and coach set it up this year.” Olson is 3-3 on his six trips to play in London, and has won his last three — last season with the Rams and the two previous seasons with the Jaguars. So, I’d say his advice carries some weight as to what works best.Gruden said Olson will be his “tour guide” in London, though there won’t be any time for tourist type stuff.“It’ll probably be mostly just football. I think the length of the flight, probably get over there on Friday and mostly just recover with the players. Get them to stretch. Get them a little something to eat. Get their blood pumping. Get a walkthrough. Then Saturday the day before the game, a lot of review. There won’t be a lot of time for sightseeing Youth Derek Carr Jersey , but I’ll try to sneak out and make some friends.”Hey, maybe since the Raiders have a bye week a few of the players and coaches will stick around London after the game instead of flying right back home. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaron Brown saw teammate David Moore go tumbling over the temporary video advertising boards. At no point was he concerned about his well-being."Any time you catch a touchdown (pass) , I don't think you're worried about what happens after," Brown said.Quarterback Russell Wilson threw touchdown passes to Brown, Moore and Tyler Lockett, and the Seahawks rolled to a 27-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.Chris Carson rushed for 59 yards and rookie Rashaad Penny gained an additional 43 for the Seahawks (3-3), who played to a vociferously supportive crowd — a London-record 84,922 were in attendance — despite the Raiders (1-5) being the designated home team.Oakland quarterback Derek Carr left the game with an apparent left arm injury with 8:52 remaining in the fourth quarter after the last of his six sacks. He did not have the chance to return because the Seahawks ran out the clock.Carr went 23 for 31 for 142 yards and was hit by Jarran Reed on third down and immediately grabbed his upper left arm as he sat up before being helped to the sideline for evaluation.Coach Jon Gruden said afterward that Carr, who would have been dropped twice more had the Seahawks not been penalized on those plays, was angling to return but backup AJ McCarron would have entered."Just too much fire today," Gruden said. "Too much fire today around the quarterback."Wilson, who completed 17 of 23 attempts for 222 yards with an interception Womens Donald Penn Jersey , connected with Brown for a 5-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, a 19-yard touchdown pass to Moore in the second and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Lockett in the fourth. After picking up a low snap, Wilson faked a throw and stepped forward, then made a throw to Moore over Daryl Worley. Moore punctuated his touchdown, his third in the Seahawks' past two games, by accidentally crashing into the screens set up around the field."I kind of saw it at the last second, but I didn't think it was that hard until I hit it," Moore said.Former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, playing in his first game against his former team, was held to 45 yards on 13 carries as the Raiders unsuccessfully turned to Carr and their passing game to try to catch Seattle.Oakland even made it a point to try to establish Lynch early with three consecutive carries Womens Kelechi Osemele Jersey , but he gained 2 yards on a carry, 2 more yards on another and then lost 3 yards before a punt."We ran three different types of runs and all three of them were rejected," Gruden said. "We wanted to get him in the game, we wanted to get him established. That was the beginning of the game, and after that, we were trying to make a first down and survive. It wasn't pretty."Matt McCrane, who missed a 48-yard field-goal attempt wide left in the second quarter, made one from 43 yards with 8:30 remaining as the Raiders avoided their first shutout since 2014 and the third at Wembley in the past four games.BALDWIN BACKSeahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin, held to one catch for 1 yard in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week, rebounded with team highs of six catches and 91 yards against the Raiders.Baldwin missed two games earlier this season after injuring the medial collateral ligament in his right knee in the season opener and insisted that the low output was not related to his injury.CLOSE TO HOMESebastian Janikowski Womens Justin Ellis Jersey , who joined the Seahawks in the offseason after 17 seasons with the Raiders, made field goals of 44 and 26 yards. It was the second time Janikowski, who was born in Poland and moved to the United States as a teenager, played in London but the first time he converted a field goal attempt.INJURIESSeattle: CB Tre Flowers left the game with muscle cramps with 4:08 left in the third quarter. TE Nick Vannett (back) was inactive despite coach Pete Carroll saying on Friday he would play.Oakland: In addition to Carr, WR Amari Cooper (concussion) left the game with 13:40 remaining in the second quarter after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald. LG Joe Feliciano, starting for Kelechi Osemele (knee), left the game late in the second quarter with a rib injury and did not return, and WR Seth Roberts (concussion) left with 11 minutes remaining.UP NEXTSeattle: Travel to face the Detroit Lions on Oct. 28 after a bye week.Oakland: Will host the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 28, also after a bye. When Jon Gruden became the head coach of the Oakland Raiders again , one of the first things he did was challenge running back Marshawn Lynch. Remember the conversation he told superfan Ahmed he had with Lynch?“We’re not going to have that,” Gruden said. “No. I said to him: ‘I need Marshawn Lynch. I don’t need this part-time Lynch. I need full-time Lynch. We need the real deal. If you’re going to put those letters on the back of your jersey, man, you’ve got to back it up, Marshawn—right? We don’t need another back, we need a feature back.” So Lynch does just that and his reward is Gruden trying to get a washed-up Doug Martin on the field. All Gruden can talk about is how Martin was once an All-Pro but that was just one year. Forget about him averaging 2.9 yards per carry the previous two years, four yards per carry or more for only two of his seven seasons and sitting on 3.7 YPC this season. Most of his carries this year are a wasted running play that could have went to Lynch.Currently, Lynch has 331 yards rushing (10th) with 275 of it coming after contact (3rd). His average is 4.3 yards per carry with 3.57 of it after contact. Compare that to 3.7 yards per carry and 2.44 after contact for Martin. Yards after contact are at a premium with the Raiders these days because the offensive line isn’t opening too many holesWith all those yards after contact, Lynch gets stronger as the game goes on. Last year, he averaged around 11 carries per game in the first half of it and produced 3.8 yards per carry. In the second half of the season, Lynch averaged 17 carries per game to average 4.5 yards per carry. Over the last five games that year, he had 434 yards Authentic Jordy Nelson Jersey , (4th in the league) averaging 17 carries per game and 5.2 yards per carry. Then this year, Lynch comes off 130 yards on 20 carries and being a top-5 rusher after four games to have Gruden give him only nine carries. And of course there was the play quarterback Derek Carr threw an interception at the 1-yardline with Lynch ready to go Beastmode. That can’t happen with Lynch playing against the Seattle Seahawks, his former team, right? “He had a lot to do, I think, with the Super Bowl ring that the Seahawks wear,” Gruden said Friday. “He was the heart and soul of that team. In a lot of ways he’s the heart and soul of the Raiders right now. He’s still running with that incredible physicality, he’s been durable, he’s practiced every day, behind the scenes he’s one of our leaders. He’s a little bit misunderstood by a lot of people, but believe me if you were coaching a football team, he’d be one of the first guys you’d want on your team.”He had a lot to do Authentic Marshawn Lynch Jersey , I think, with the Raiders winning the one game they won in 2018. And giving the heart and soul of your team just nine carries and three catches just isn’t enough. So it’s time to treat Beast Mode like the heart and soul and give him the rock. The Seahawks are No. 29 in the NFL against the run, giving up 4.7 YPC right now to the Raiders need to give Lynch a chance to get at his old team.Raiders week one snap counts vs Rams: Arden Key, Bruce Irvin split defensive snaps, generate little pressure With the Raiders trading Khalil Mack last week, the question that hung over the Raiders was how they were going to replace his production. Namely how were they going to generate pass rush. We got our first peek at those plans Monday night and it was not inspiring. Most figured this was Bruce Irvin’s time to step up and fill the void, both from a leadership standpoint and a production standpoint. Irvin didn’t even play half the snaps on defense. He was often seen standing on the sideline, replaced by rookie Arden Key.It was a bit odd, actually. Irvin had the Raiders only sack in the game on an otherwise nearly pass rush bereft defensive line that had a total of two QB hits in the game. Gruden blamed the Rams ability to run the ball for the lack of pass rush.“When you can run the ball like they ran it in the second half it’s very hard to rush the passer,” said Gruden. “Obviously we didn’t get to Jared [Goff] enough and we didn’t dig early enough. We will take a look at the reasons why we didn’t.”Hopefully Gruden takes a look at the tape from Sunday night to find his answer.Arden Key was particularly disappointing considering the kind of skills he showed in training camp. He pointed to a combination of nerves and the Rams game plan as to why he was ineffective.“Yeah, I was a little nervous at the beginning. I got confident throughout the game,” said Key. “What we saw on film was different than what they did. They run a ton of boots. They tried to slow our rush. Attackers got on us quick. There weren’t sets Womens Derek Carr Jersey , when they gave sets we were slow because the jumped us a lot. They kicked back on us. The things they did on film weren’t what they did a ton today.”To be fair, Tank Carradine was unexpectedly inactive with for undisclosed reasons. Also, to be fair, Carradine isn’t known for his pass rush. He’s more of a run stopper, which may have at least helped in stopping Todd Gurley from running all over the Raiders’ defense. Frostee Rucker saw 65% of the snaps as well and had 2 tackles.Another interesting note is despite all the talk from Defensive Coordinator that the secondary would rotate, they really didn’t. Starters Gareon Conley, Leon Hall, Reggie Nelson, and Marcus Gilchrist played nearly every snap. Rashaan Melvin played 78% of the snaps with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie getting in for 20 snaps (32%). Karl Joseph saw 7 snaps and offseason favorite Erik Harris didn’t see a snap on defense.Week one snap counts..Offense.Defense.Special Tms...Offense.Defense.Special Tms.

Detroit Lions name 7 captains for the 2018 season Saturday morning Nevin Lawson Jersey , Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia noted there was going to be a significant change in the way the Lions handle captain responsibilities in 2018. Instead of doing week-to-week captain designations—like they did under Jim Caldwell—the Lions will be going with season-long captains this year. Later that day, the Lions officially announced the seven players that will be representing the team for the next four (or more) months:Matthew Stafford, Don Muhlbach and Glover Quin aren’t surprising choices. They have been some of the longest-tenured players on the team, and they are all pretty important to their respective unitsHowever, it’s very interesting to see their other choices. They didn’t go with All-Pro Darius Slay, but chose Jarrad Davis and Devon Kennard—two players who will play key roles in 2018, but have yet to prove themselves. T.J. Lang makes sense on offense because of his veteran presence among a pretty young offensive line, but Marvin Jones Jr. is a somewhat surprising pick among the skill players. He doesn’t have the experience that Golden Tate does Cheap Kerryon Johnson Jersey , but he does seem to be growing into a true No. 1 receiver role.Who they didn’t choose is almost as surprising as those who they did choose. No Slay, no Tate, no Ezekiel Ansah. Tate and Slay are probably the most surprising given their respective locker room status as some of the most boisterous personalities on the team. What are your thoughts on the Lions’ seven new captains for the 2018 season?Lions 2018 roster cuts: Detroit waives Jamar McGloster, Brian Brown, Sterling Moore The Detroit Lions cuts are underway. Through a variety of sources the first three names have been leaked.According to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, offensive lineman Jamar McGloster has been cut:McGloster was added just before the start of training camp, but never really made much of an impression, continuously playing with the third and fourth strings.Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting corner Sterling Moore is also going to be released. Brought in as a late camp signing T.J. Lang Jersey , Moore didn’t have a lot of time to get up to speed and try to earn a roster spot. The Lions were Moore’s seventh team, with the New Orleans Saints being his most recent stop prior to signing with the Lions on August 20. His previous experience in Matt Patricia’s defense (2011-2012) likely prompted his signing, but he wasn’t able to land a roster spot. Finally wide receiver Brian Brown is also on his way out, per Herbie Teope of Brown was the last of a wide receiver signing early in camp when Detroit was still rotating through depth players. He failed to make a single catch during the preseason, however, and never really had much of a shot at the final 53-man roster.Catch up with all of the Lions’ cuts with our 2018 tracker.

Film breakdown: How Frank Ragnow became an elite pass protector overnight The first two games of Frank Ragnow’s career as a Detroit Lion did not go as well as everyone (including the Pride of Detroit staff) had hoped they would. One of the big selling points pumping up the perceived value in “stealing” the former Razorback in the first round was that he did not surrender a single sack in his entire college career. Imagine our surprise , then, when Detroit’s new starting left guard struggled in pass protection against the Jets in Week 1 and again against the 49ers in Week 2. His outing at Levi’s Stadium was so bad, it earned a pretty horrific grade from Pro Football Focus.Along with the rest of the team, though, the rookie turned it around in Week 3 against the Patriots. While Cris Collinsworth lavished praise upon Ragnow’s run blocking throughout the broadcast, on second re-watch of the game film we were pleasantly surprised by how consistent his pass blocking was (he “lost” maybe two or three pass protection reps all night). Fearless leader Jeremy Reisman asked what changed: how does Frank Ragnow go from PFF doghouse to PFF team of the week?To hopefully shed some light on this puzzle, we unfortunately must go back to the unpleasant tape from the games against the Jets and Niners.Chasing to the outsideSomething that came out in bad tape from the first two games was a tendency for Ragnow to set for the outside rush and not make it back inside in time to close off the interior lane. Securing the inside is critical because the edge blocking depends on having a clean place for the quarterback to step up into and the players inside have the shortest and most direct path to the passer. A collapsed pocket often leads to a broken play or a sack.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 2Q (0:21). Third-and-3 at the New York 3.On the last offensive play of the opening half in Week 1, the Lions had an opportunity to take a final shot at the end zone. The play call is mirrored curl-flat combinations to spread the field on both sides and 25 HB Theo Riddick sitting down in front of Stafford near the goal line. New York came with four-man pressure, sending former Lion 51 LB Brandon Copeland twisting to the inside behind 96 DL Henry Anderson.Ragnow lunges at Anderson as he makes the first lateral move on the switch. That throws the rookie off balance and prevents him from picking up Copeland up the gut. 9 QB Matthew Stafford is forced to sail the ball out of bounds and Detroit settles for a field goal.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 1Q (5:28). Third-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up one-on-one with 94 DL Solomon Thomas over his outside shoulder, Ragnow takes his initial two shuffle steps to the outside. Unfortunately, Thomas explodes off the snap across the guard’s face and makes a beeline for the A-gap. Stafford comes under immediate pressure and only a broken tackle by Riddick moves the chains.Going for a swimIt was remarkable how nearly all of the other really bad defeats for Ragnow in pass protection were at the hands of swim moves. There are so many examples that this article will just present three of them so we can actually get to the “good” tape against the Patriots.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 3Q (8:16). Third-and-1 at the Detroit 34.This is the pick-six interception play that really blew the “Monday Night Football” game open in the third quarter. Ragnow has Anderson one-on-one and bites on the jab step to the inside. With 68 LT Taylor Decker occupied by Copeland on the outside and 60 C Graham Glasgow tied up with the 1-tech, there is nobody left to assist once Anderson’s left arm is up and over.2018 Week 2 at SFO Detroit Lions T-Shirt , 1Q (5:34). Second-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up against 96 DL Sheldon Day angled on his left shoulder, Ragnow takes lateral steps to the outside to try and get better position. Similar to the inside rush we saw earlier by Thomas, Day takes advantage by going up and over with his right arm. Stafford is flushed from the pocket and prevented from setting his feet, resulting in a poor throw that hits the turf in front of 15 WR Golden Tate.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 2Q (0:49). First-and-10 at the Detroit 34.Near the end of the first half of the San Francisco game, the Lions had just under a minute on the clock and managed to eke out a field goal. The GIF above is from the first play of that drive, and shows Stafford taking an absolutely monster hit from 99 DL DeForest Buckner. The Niners overloaded the right side of their line, forcing the Lions to go one-on-one against Thomas (with Glasgow), Buckner (with Ragnow), and 54 DL Cassius Marsh off the edge (with Decker). The patient “one way go”In a way, pass blockers trying to guard against multiple rush lanes can be like defenders trying to guard against multiple routes; we sometimes hear about players like Theo Riddick running a two way go with the freedom to go inside or outside. One plan to defend that is to commit to taking one option away by positioning and simply challenge them on the other option. Back in 2014, then-defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said this: “We try to, based on our coverages, funnel a guy one way or the other, where we think the help might be. We try not to give him the two way go but sometimes it happens.”Instead of trying to move laterally and react to whichever way the opponent would go Detroit Lions Hats , it seemed like the plan for Ragnow against New England was to commit to getting a good base, focusing on hands and grip, then giving up a little ground to play it safe inside. Rather than facing straight up on rushers, he kept the middle clean by consistently walling off the interior approach and funneling his rusher to the outside.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (9:12). Second-and-10 at the New England 48.Here is a great example of what we are talking about: Ragnow is one-on-one with 90 DT Malcom Brown. An initial jab step at the snap by Brown tries to put some indecision into the head of the young guard, but he’s having none of it. Ragnow’s stance angle invites the defender to take the outside, and this gives the rookie a degree of control over the situation since he now gets to direct where the rusher is going. The protection is good, and Stafford rifles it down the field for a chunk gain of 18 yards to Tate.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (3:19). First-and-10 at the 50-yard line.A bit later in the first quarter at midfield, the Lions’ first-round pick is up against 70 DL Adam Butler. Ignoring a shoulder fake by Butler to the inside, Ragnow stays committed to protecting the inside, letting 29 HB LeGarrette Blount pick up the delayed linebacker blitz.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 3Q (4:53). Second-and-17 at the Detroit 18.Armed with control and focus, at times it got pretty ridiculous. Here is Ragnow using a big man’s momentum against him, throwing the 320-pound Brown to the ground judo-style.2018 Week 3 vs NED Detroit Lions Womens Hoodie , 1Q (4:53). First-and-10 at the Detroit 40.In this early play-action pass called in the first quarter, Ragnow steers Butler to the outside and rides him off into the sunset. Stafford is all alone in the pocket and able to toss an easy ball to Blount for 8 yards. As best as I can tell, the first time the Patriots attempted to force the issue to the inside one-on-one against Ragnow was with 71 DT Danny Shelton on the final play of the third quarter. That inside rush was picked up and walled off flawlessly, and the quick-hitting rub arrow to Tate on the perimeter went for 25 yards. Between the dominant run blocking and amazing consistency in pass protection, this was an outstanding job by the rookie and offensive line coach Jeff Davidson to fix the issues of the first two games.NFL Week 3 picks: Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots “Sunday Night Football” is nearly upon us and we’re already headed for desperate time for the Detroit Lions. Drop to 0-3 and the Lions fall into a trap that only five teams since 1980 have crawled out of. Unfortunately for the Lions, the team that stands between them and nearly impossible odds is the New England Patriots. Even more unfortunate is the fact that New England is coming off a loss themselves, and Tom Brady is pissed. Ahh Seattle. No matter how hard I try Cheap Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , I can’t think of that town without seeing this “Family Guy” moment in my head. The grunge days just won’t die. Somedays I still put on my flannel and torn up jeans, and I try to decipher whether something was a box or a bag. and I know, and I know I don’t wanna stay in this Heart Shaped Box with this Rooster while the Black Hole Sun shines on me in my Wicked Garden. Anyways, grunge wasn’t even a thing when the Lions played the Seahawks for the first time in October of 1976. Kurt Cobain was just a nine years old at the time and likely jammed out to Chicago’s If You Leave Me Now like everyone else did at that time. I don’t like this song as much as I just like the the part at the 3:36 mark. That’s my jam. The Lions went on to win 41-14 on that day. Greg Landry threw three touchdowns while Seahawks quarterback Jim Zorn threw six interceptions. I couldn’t make that up if I tried. When the Lions saw that, they were like, “Man, we gotta hire this cat to be our quarterbacks coach in 1998.” The Lions started three different quarterbacks that year and went 5-11. Zorn is an interesting connection between Seahawks and Lions history. I wonder if I can connect Jim Zorn to Kevin Bacon, too. Okay. Jim was in some movie called “White Rod: A Hero for the 21st Century” with an actor named Will McLaughlin, who played a cop in “Men in Black 3,” starring Tommy Lee Jones, who was in “JFK” with Kevin Bacon. Nailed it. After that first win, the Lions would have nothing but trouble with the Seahawks. They’re 5-9 all time against the team from coffee town, but there’s a silver lining. The Lions are 3-2 against the Seahawks at home and even won the last meeting at Ford Field back in 2012. There’s been nothing but controversy and mayhem since then, but I don’t want to talk about that right now. To the questions!!!Why do you have to do this to me, Dean? I mean, I put on weight and took off weight , I went to therapy, and I was so close to being all better again. This was me just six months ago. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over the batted ball, but considering every crazy thing that’s happened to the Lions over the last few years, this one wasn’t the worst. The worst remains the one that Dean was in charge of. It always will be. I’m so pumped to have Damon Harrison Sr. here now. I can’t remember the last time the Lions made a major trade happen. I mean the last “blockbuster” before this was the time Mayhew trade for Mike Thomas. Oddly enough, Thomas cost the Lions the exact same price as Snacks did: A fifth-round pick for five receptions and 28 yards. Try not to think too much about this one, you’ll only get mad. As for Snacks against the Seahawks, he’s only played them twice in his career. He’s accounted for seven tackles, one of those was for a loss. Snacks doesn’t have incredible sack totals or anything like that, and that’s not what he’s here for anyways. It’s not good for Matthew Stafford. In his three matchups with the Seahawks, he’s thrown for 758 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. To be fair, though, five of those interceptions came in one game during his rookie year. Now it’s not so bad I suppose. As for NanoBubbles himself, Russell Wilson has thrown for 523 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. So they’re pretty much even, I guess. Let’s see what they do on Sunday at Matthew’s house.Lions-Browns snap counts: Playing time raises more questions about depth chart Here’s a look at the Detroit Lions’ snap counts from their preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns.Offense:QuarterbacksJake Rudock: 47 (71%)Matt Cassel: 19 (29%)Running backsDwayne Washington: 63 (95%) — 3 special teams (9%)Zach Zenner: 3 (5%) — 1 (3%)Tight endsSean McGrath: 22 (33%) — 7 (21%)Marcus Lucas: 19 (29%) — 17 (50%)Michael Roberts: 18 (27%) — 4 (12%)Hakeem Valles: 16 (24%) — 10 (29%)Wide receiversDontez Ford: 49 (74%) — 15 (44%)Chris Lacy: 43 (65%) — 13 (38%)Brian Brown: 41 (62%) — 8 (24%)Teo Redding: 31 (47%) — 10 (29%)Jace Billingsley: 14 (21%) — 9 (26%)Brandon Powell: 12 (18%) — 7 (21%)Bradley Marquez: DNPOffensive tacklesDan Skipper: 38 (58%) — 3 (9%)Brian Mihalik: 38 (58%) — 3 (9%)Jamar McGloster: 31 (47%) — 2 (6%)Tyrell Crosby: 28 (42%) — 3 (9%)Corey Robinson: 18 (27%)Guards/centersWesley Johnson: 63 (95%) — 3 (9%)John Montelus: 37 (56%) — 3 (9%)Leo Koloamatangi: 35 (53%) — 1 (2%)Joe Dahl: 28 (42%)Kenny Wiggins: 13 (20%) Observations:Shout out to Dwayne Washington and Wesley Johnson for being the iron men of the game Youth Graham Glasgow Jersey , only missing three offensive snaps the entire game. However, that’s probably not a good sign for either of their roster security. Washington is obviously out, but Johnson is in a heated battle with several other interior linemen.Speaking of the o-line positional battle, interesting to see Kenny Wiggins only get 13 snaps. Maybe he’s leading the way in the camp battle? Now to the tight ends. Michael Roberts got a significant amount of playing time, which can’t be good for him. The fact that Hakeem Valles saw the field less is just another sign that Roberts is lower than him on the depth chart. Roberts could very well be on the roster bubble right now. No one thinks that Bradley Marquez is making this team, but the coaching staff didn’t even give him a shot to showcase his talent. Tough break for him. Zettel started this camp as a starter, and the fact that he played over half the snaps in the preseason finale cannot be a good sign. Maybe the Lions were planning on having someone else play in the preseason—say, a free agent addition or something—and had to fall back on Zettel. But the fact that Zettel had to play that much on Thursday should leave him concerned about his status.Miles Killebrew has been transitioning to linebacker for the past few weeks, but apparently the coaching staff has seen enough to evaluate how it’s going. He didn’t play at all on Thursday, meaning he’s either a roster lock or a roster cut lock. Really helpful, I know.A’Shawn Robinson. You were a second-round pick. You shouldn’t be playing in these games. Jonathan Freeny is firmly on the roster bubble after playing a whopping 81 percent of snaps. The Lions’ linebacker situation is just as confusing as ever, though it looks like Christian Jones is safe after sitting out the finale. Special teamsRyan Santoso: 14 (41%)Don Muhlbach: 10 (29%)Sam Martin: 4 (12%)Observations:Thanks for playing, Ryan Santoso. Good luck.

Who will fill the Falcons’ last roster spot? Well , now that we have an idea of who the Atlanta Falcons kept and let go, we have 52 guys who will be on the sidelines each Sunday. Well, as you know, NFL teams have 53 players on the roster. So Atlanta’s one short. The roster, as of now, is stacked to the brim with talent and promise, and not many spots have much breathing room at all. We don’t expect any new faces around these parts: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, offensive line, defensive tackle, safety, cornerback...oh, and kicker, punter Womens Desmond Trufant Jersey , long snapper. Ricky Ortiz should also hang on to that fullback spot.So that basically leaves defensive end and linebacker as the two potentials. With Richard Jarvis making the team, linebacker has six spots and could maybe take another, but if that’s the case, why not keep Celestin? If you’d like to whittle down the options here, that basically means it’s looking like a pass rusher. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s for sure a pass rusher (heck, maybe there’s a random guard somewhere they want to claim), but it feels likely that it’ll be a pass rusher. Gold Rush Could it be one acquired via trade? Unlikely. The Falcons aren’t looking for a starter; just a guy to salt the ice a bit at the spot. Vic Beasley, Takk McKinley and Brooks Reed will all rotate in and out to affect the QB, while Derrick Shelby assist against the run and do a little rushing himself; ditto for Jack Crawford, who’s versatile. The Falcons do need some depth, though, and could afford to rotate a guy in and out to make sure the top guys aren’t getting too much run early in the year. There will be no shortage of names to pop up as the day wears on, but two stick out: Vikings DE Brian Robison and Saints OLB Hau’oli Kikaha. Robison was a surprise cut in Minnesota, a stalwart Viking who had about a nine-sack ceiling but would never dip below four a season post-2011 after entering the league in 2007. Minnesota has a bevy of riches in its trenches, which might signal why Robison is now looking for work. He’s also 35 and might be entering the twilight of his career. As a flat-out cut Youth Logan Paulsen Jersey , he’ll be allowed to go wherever he wants, so watch for Robison to eye a contender. He’ll have his suitors. Could one of them be Atlanta? He’d be very sound depth at the spot and could help filter in here and there. If injury hits that spot, you feel better about everything with a guy like Robison in tow. Kikaha was a second-round pick by the Saints in 2015 and has never struggled to flash his talents when healthy. But that’s been the problem, his health. He played his entire rookie season before missing all of 2016 with injury. He also ended 2017 on the IR after a decent campaign. He’ll be subject to the waiver wire, and someone will no doubt want to get him in their system and see what he’s got. Could one of those teams be Atlanta? Maybe he could come into his own with a change of scenery and new training plan. Regardless of where this goes, pass rusher feels like the most likely spot for where the last roster spot goes, unless we’re in for a stash-and-dash claim at a random spot. We’ll see where Sunday takes us here.Falcons vs. Saints final score predictions: Will Atlanta triumph in a shootout? Eric Robinson Falcons 38, Saints 30 No Takk, no Devonta, no Debo, no Keanu. Spells trouble, right? It’s understandable if it does but when you account for the fact that the Saints are 29th in overall defense, 30th in points, and 29th in passing yards allowed, it’s easy to this as a great matchup for a Falcons offense that found a groove last week against a good Carolina defense. Two keys that are important in this matchup is which team can win on 3rd downs on defense and can the Falcons find offensive rhythm through Ridley, Sanu Youth Brandon Fusco Jersey , Hooper, Coleman, and Smith once again. The Saints have lost four of their last six games in Atlanta. Cory WoodroofFalcons 38, Saints 34 I’m in line with Eric on the point totals, but I’m expecting far-more heartburn for this one. The Falcons might light it up on offense now that Steve Sarkisian is on a roll, and they really might have to if this defense plays like it did last week down the stretch against one of the all-time great comeback quarterbacks in Drew Brees. Losing Deion and Keanu and trying to stop Alvin Kamara is going to be a nightmarish feat, but I actually have faith that Atlanta’s secondary can maintain Michael Thomas and sell out in the front seven to slow Kamara as much as possible. This one should get plenty of fireworks in as long as our offense maintains pace. If Sark has a down week, Atlanta won’t win this. I’m betting he’ll find enough plays to outscore the Saints and build a nice, consistent streak to carry into that now-test against Cincinnati.Dave ChoateFalcons 30, Saints 24I have the Saints scoring less than 30 points, which seems ridiculous given the challenges the Falcons have been facing on defense with key players out. Yet it’s a Falcons-Saints game, where nothing goes as planned, and I feel pretty good about this prediction. The Saints just aren’t there yet. Their defense has regressed, but their offense is also shakier than it looks if you’re just glancing at the counting stats, given the way they felt way behind against Tampa Bay before making a comeback and stayed quiet until late against Cleveland. I think the Falcons, who have shown they can bedevil Drew Brees under Dan Quinn Youth Terrell McClain Jersey , will be able to do enough to hold this team in check, and I have a lot of confidence in the offense’s ability to put points on the board against the worst defense they’ve faced thus far.Anything can happen in a game like this, but the Falcons should be able to win this even with their pile of injuries. Matt ChambersFalcons 36, Saints 32I am very worried about the Falcons defense, but then again, the Saints haven’t looked much like competitors this season. With 3 of the team’s top 5 defensive players out for Sunday, the Falcons will need to score 27+ points to get the win. Against the Saints, they can definitely do that. These games usually end on the very last drive, and I sure as hell won’t be picking the Saints to pull out that W.Kyle McClendonFalcons 31, Saints 28This game SHOULD be a shootout due to the wealth of injuries on Atlanta’s defense and the overall mediocrity of the Saints’ defense. I think it is a high scoring game that comes down to who has the ball most and who has it last. The Falcons defense will have a tough time stopping the Saints, but I don’t think it will be any easier for the New Orleans defense against Matt Ryan and company. If Ryan is on his game again and the offensive line plays well, the Falcons will win a close one. If not, this one could hurt. I’m going to bank on Matt Bryant making a kick and Will Lutz missing one to give Atlanta the win in the first meeting between the two teams.

Devonta Freeman Atlanta Falcons Hats , Tevin Coleman and the uncomfortable question The Atlanta Falcons have a dilemma on their hands. Starting running back Devonta Freeman is currently nursing a knee injury and will be out for an undisclosed amount of time. Second-string RB Tevin Coleman has stepped in and has kept the offense moving, much like he has every time Freeman has been limited or unavailable in the past two years. Both Freeman and Coleman are excellent running backs who would start on most teams. Both are Falcons draftees, in consecutive years. They’ve complemented each other well and have contributed to making Atlanta’s offense one of the most dynamic in the NFL over the past few seasons. In a perfect world, Atlanta could afford to keep both in the long term. As we know as Falcons fans, however, the world is far from perfect. Rookie contracts get played out, and teams often have to let contributors go if they’re too strapped for cash.Free’s deal Freeman parlayed consecutive Pro Bowl seasons in 2015 and 2016 into a 5 year/$41.25 million contract extension which made him the third highest-paid running back in the league at the time (he’s currently the fourth highest paid RB at the moment). The writing was on the wall following this extension that Freeman was the team’s choice to keep, and that they would probably be fine with letting Coleman hit the free agency waters when the time came.Things haven’t been as cut-and-dried as the team might’ve hoped following the extension, however. Freeman has dealt with his fair share of injuries after the new contract kicked in, which is not his fault but is unfortunate timing. He suffered a concussion in training camp last year, and then sustained another concussion which cost him two games in the middle of the season (well, more like three games, since the injury happened in the first series against the Dallas Cowboys in week 10).Coleman picked up the baton and led the team as the featured back, scoring four touchdowns in the three games Freeman missed.Freeman was then limited in the NFC Divisional Round matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with an MCL and PCL sprain that wasn’t discovered by the public until after the game. He had 10 carries for seven yards in that matchup.Coleman once again picked up the slack, taking the same 10 carries for 79 rushing yards and almost helping the team pull out a victory. The start of the 2018 season has led to more of the same — Freeman is once again sidelined with a contusion on the same knee he hurt last year, and Coleman has once again seamlessly stepped into the featured back role. Against the Panthers, the University of Indiana alum took 16 carries for 107 rushing yards and became the first player to rush for 100+ yards against Carolina in 22 games. All of these developments in the past year have us asking an uncomfortable question: did the Falcons pay the wrong running back? The great debateFreeman has done a lot for the franchise. He’s totaled over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in each of the past three seasons and has scored 35 touchdowns in that time period. When healthy, he’s arguably a top five running back in the NFL, and a more complete back than Coleman given his blocking ability. The issue stems from the frightening injury history, however. Head and knee injuries on a running back whose running style is as vicious as Freeman’s doesn’t exactly breed confidence in a team and its fanbase. The two concussions are what frighten me more than anything else. There’s a prevailing notion among many physicians that a three strike rule exists regarding concussions and long-term traumatic effects on a person’s life. Freeman is already on strike two.On the flip side of things, Coleman hasn’t exactly been a picture of perfect health either. Running back is a grueling position to play, and Tevin has suffered his fair share of knocks. He’s missed eight games in his career, including one last year for his own concussion.Remember, Freeman actually took over the starting RB job in 2015 because Coleman had an ankle injury which cost him two games, and then number 24 never relinquished his hold of that starting role. What may make people more comfortable with Coleman’s ailments is the fact that that he doesn’t have any history of knee injuries. His finesse style of running, predicated on speed and elusiveness Atlanta Falcons Womens Hoodie , also seems like it would translate better into the latter stages of a career. The concussion is once again concerning, but he’s on “strike one” so to speak.Coleman has proven to be a capable starting running back when presented with the opportunity to either start or be given a starter-like workload. The Week 2 game against Carolina was just a taste of that. The Falcons are an impeccable 11-0 in games where Coleman gets at least 14 touches dating back to the 2016 season.Another thing working in Coleman’s favor is the fact that he may be a lot fresher than his counterpart. Devonta Freeman has 826 carries in his career and 1038 total career touches (this includes the playoffs), compared to Tevin Coleman’s 439 career carries and 515 total career touches (playoffs included). While Freeman is only one year older than Coleman, he has twice as much tread on his tires. What’s nextSo where do we go from here? Is there any hope for the Falcons possibly bringing Coleman back or is he destined to hit free agency the way we all expected him to after Freeman signed his extension? Before you suggest it, let me say that the Falcons can’t cut or trade Freeman after this season. They would incur a sizable dead cap hit which doesn’t make that scenario feasible. In reality, Atlanta can’t move on from Freeman until at least the 2020 offseason if they choose to go that route, and they’re doubtful to do so unless injuries continue to take a massive bit out of his production and limit his ability to suit up. If the team has any hopes of keeping Coleman beyond this season, they’ll need his cooperation as much as anything else. For one, they’ll have to pay him starter money because that’s what he’ll most likely demand on the open market. Around $8 million a year seems like a fair figure (that’s close to what Freeman makes). Coleman would have to agree to more of a back-loaded contract where he agrees to less cash in year one of the deal, but maybe more guaranteed money later on.It’s achievable, but only if Coleman is okay with taking a smaller signing bonus than he would get elsewhere in year one and then a roster bonus in year two.If Coleman does agree to that, then another stipulation would be that the Falcons have to trade or cut Freeman in that 2020 offseason, when the potential “out” comes up in his contract. They can keep both in 2019 because Coleman’s deal would be backloaded, but there’s no way to keep both in the long term. With rookie back Ito Smith looking great against the Panthers, it still seems unlikely that the Falcons will commit big money to two backs at the same time. I’d like to get your thoughts on what the Falcons should do. You can vote on which running back you think the Birds should stick with in the long term, below: It's hard to tell these days what's more entertaining to watch: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs' high-flying offense or their crazy, creative touchdown celebrations.Opposing teams are getting a heavy dose of both. The latest victim was the Cincinnati Bengals, who watched Mahomes torch their banged-up defense for 358 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-10 Chiefs victory Sunday night. Kareem Hunt added three touchdowns, Tyreek Hill and Demetrius Harris also scored and Kansas City rolled up 551 yards total offense in the rout."We have an amazing time. It's always fun when you're winning," Harris said with a smile. "It's a lot of fun with the group of guys we've got, and we're just taking advantage of it."That goes for those touchdown celebrations. After catching his TD pass, Harris sprinted about 30 yards to what he thought was a camera well and jumped in as if it was a foxhole. It turned out to be a rough landing — it was actually some machinery — though he followed through with his routine by tossing the football as if it was a grenade."Bombs away and everyone get out of the way," he said.Later, Hill caught a TD pass in the corner of the end zone, sprinted to an official and fainted at his feet. Left tackle Eric Fisher ran over to provide CPR — as if the Chiefs offense needed resuscitation — and Hill popped to his feet. He did a backflip before racing back to the sideline. Then there was the choreographed dance following another touchdown. Everyone knew the moves except Mahomes, who looked decidedly out of place as he danced along."It's fun. We have a lot of young guys on the team that just have fun playing football," he said. "But they didn't tell me what they were doing Womens Customized Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , so I was just trying to go along."Yes, the Chiefs (6-1) were having all kinds of fun Sunday night. The Bengals (4-3) were in no mood to laugh.Andy Dalton was held to 148 yards passing with a touchdown and a pick-6, and Joe Mixon had 50 yards rushing, as the NFL's worst defense held Cincinnati to 239 yards of total offense."Going in you have to do a really good job, first of all making first downs, to be able to make adjustments, to be able to tackle, to make plays in the open field, and we didn't do a very good job of that," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "It just comes down to as simple as that."As the Chiefs continue celebrating their win, and the Bengals try to pick up the pieces from their second straight loss, here are some of the key takeaways:BANGED-UP BENGALSTE Tyler Kroft (knee), LB Nick Vigil (knee) and CB Darqueze Dennard (shoulder) missed the game with injuries, and they were soon joined by three more crucial pieces. LB Vontaze Burfict limped off with a hip injury, WR John Ross hurt his groin and TE Mason Schreck hurt his knee.MILESTONE WINChiefs coach Andy Reid picked up his 200th win, though he deflected any acclaim to the players and personnel who have helped him along the way. He needs one more win to tie Dan Reeves for eighth on the NFL's career list. "He's a great coach. You want to be around him," Hunt said. "He is definitely one of the best coaches of all time."SUNDAY SLOWDOWNWhile the Chiefs improved to 8-3 in Sunday night games, the Bengals were probably miffed when the game got flexed from its noon kickoff. Cincinnati dropped to 3-16 on Sunday night and has now lost nine consecutive games.GETTING DEFENSIVEChiefs safety Ron Parker returned Dalton's interception for a second-half score, giving the Chiefs two touchdowns in a span of 9 seconds. Parker had a feeling it was coming, too. "That's what I was waiting on my whole career," he said. "It was crazy. My daughter asked before the game like, 'Daddy, how come you don't score touchdowns?' So that one was for her."CELEB SIGHTINGSNASCAR star Clint Bowyer raced his way into the next round of the playoffs with a strong run at Kansas Speedway on Sunday. Then he raced to Arrowhead Stadium as a guest of Chiefs general manager Brett Veach. The two met earlier this year and became fast friends, and Bowyer — a native of Emporia, Kansas — got the star treatment Sunday night complete with an autographed Mahomes jersey.

The Warriors are experiencing one of their worst blips in a five-year dynasty filled with mostly happiness Authentic Matt Bosher Jersey , rings and three-point swooshes. Just days after Draymond Green and Kevin Durant clashed, resulting in Green’s suspension, the Warriors played one of their least inspiring games of the KD era, losing to the Rockets by 21 points. Through the mess, it’s becoming more and more apparent that the Warriors need one thing above all: a healthy Stephen Curry.Three of the Warriors’ four losses this season have come in the absence of Curry, who’s expected to miss more than a week longer to a groin injury. And the team’s record without him pales in importance to the morale boost he brings to a volatile assortment of hot-headed co-stars. “We’re banged up a little bit physically, and right now we’re banged up spiritually,” head coach Steve Kerr said after the team’s loss to Houston. “There’s no getting around that.”Before we completely write off the Warriors, here are some episodes they’ve survived over the years:Draymond Green and Steve Kerr’s shouting match in Feb., 2016Draymond Green getting suspended during the 2016 FinalsStephen Curry’s untimely knee injury A previous KD-Draymond on-court war of words Steve Kerr’s health problemsKevin Durant’s burner accountsThe Rockets spurring an ISO-ball crisis in the 2018 West FinalsDavid West alluding to drama that hadn’t become public after winning another titleSome awkward KD jokes at the Warriors’ 2018 championship paradeThe Warriors’ basketball struggles without Curry are apparent Since Durant joined the team in 2016, the Warriors are a mere 21-18 in games without Curry in the lineup, according to StatMuse. The Warriors sink 2.8 fewer three-point shots per game, shoot 2.2 percent worse from the field, and subsequently dish 3.2 fewer assists per night. They’re a fraction of themselves when he doesn’t play. Without Durant in the lineup, the Warriors have instead marched on. The team has gone 25-9, sinking just 0.1 fewer threes on 1.8 percent worse shooting, dishing .5 fewer assists. That’s not to minimize Durant’s importance — he’s one of the league’s best! But Curry has his imprint in everything this team does; he’s Golden State’s real MVP.That was on watch as a middling Houston team dismantled the reigning champs. A team known historically for its three-point rate took just 18 attempts and made four. (Houston made 16 on 47 tries.) Golden State lived in the long-two range, and swiftly died by it as the team’s starters combined to shoot 14-of-40 (35 percent) from the field. The offense was a wreck, turning the ball over 16 times to just 18 assists. Curry’s sorely missed Youth Matt Bryant Jersey , but in more ways than one.The Warriors need a mental boost from Curry, tooWe may never know all of the details about what went on between Durant and Green in their locker room spat, but we know it must’ve been bad if the Warriors chose to suspend their defensive anchor. It’s unclear what Curry could’ve done, if anything, to diffuse the situation, but this segment of Yahoo’s Chris Haynes’ story on the debacle says it all:If Thompson felt the need to step up, things must’ve truly gotten ugly, and it feels as if that role would’ve been assumed by Curry, who wasn’t at the game due to his injury.Curry did travel with the team to Houston, though, where he was seen joking with Green, Durant and DeMarcus Cousins. Green said postgame that he “was the butt of a few jokes.”It sounds cliche to talk about the important of someone who’s viewed as a leader in the locker room, but in situations like these, a voice can be the remedy for all. And that voice in this locker room is Curry’s.And Curry has more to help fix. Durant and Green are clearly still not ok as evidenced by his tone after KD was asked about it by media.“Don’t ask me about that,” he said sternly. But hopefully, for Golden State’s sake, from here on out, Curry’s presence will lift the Warriors in an analytical and emotional sense. It’s what an MVP does.Falcons vs. Dolphins recap: Preseason ends with a whimper, as preseason always does The Atlanta Falcons rarely give us much to feel good about in the preseason , and this preseason was especially taxing. If you love this team, the sight of them floundering out there in their familiar jerseys is a painful one, and once the deep reserves play a full game, it’s somewhere between excruciating and embarrassing. So it went last night, when the Falcons were thumped by the Dolphins by a score of 34-7. The offense wasn’t good, the defense wasn’t good, and the only reason special teams was solid was because David Marvin was absolutely booming punts all game long. Atlanta seems hellbent on making people miserable before the season begins, no matter how well we know the truism that preseason doesn’t matter. Now Atlanta has to sift. They have something like 5-7 roster spots open and need to find the right fits for those spots, and there wasn’t a lot happening on the field to make those calls easy. Nonetheless, the Falcons have shown themselves to be deft assemblers of talented rosters in recent years, and they’ll be deciding on the 2018 version of this team in under 48 hours. Let’s hope they saw something we did not last night. That said, let’s break down the good, the ugly, and what’s next for the Atlanta Falcons. The GoodIn an utterly dismal game for the offense, Malik Williams showed a little pop and flash. He had two runs and a nice grab at the end of the first quarter for a total of over 20 yards, which doesn’t sound particularly impressive until you realize the Falcons had literally done nothing to that point in the game. He also scored the first touchdown for the backups all preseason with an eight yard run in the second quarter where he showed nice footwork, and picked up 19 yards on a rumble in the third quarter. Given Justin Crawford’s quiet preseason, Williams may have a practice squad spot waiting for him. On a very quiet night for the passing game, Jaeden Graham led all receivers with three receptions on four targets for 36 yards. He’s quietly been solid all preseason Andy Levitre Jersey , and if the Falcons elect to keep a tight end on the practice squad, Graham’s probably the guy. Defensive tackle was one of the few bright spots on defense. Garrison Smith got into the backfield, Justin Zimmer nearly had a sack, and Jon Cunningham looked quick and dangerous last night. I have to think Smith makes the roster and Zimmer makes the practice squad, but it’s encouraging to see that the Falcons might have some genuine young talent at a position where they’ve traditionally struggled to cultivate it. Smith’s third quarter sack may have pushed him over the top. The Falcons got two sacks from young defenders. The first came early in the game from Anthony Winbush, who had a solid effort overall, and the second came later from Richard Jarvis, who has put together a strong offseason overall. I don’t know that either player will stick around, but I think Jarvis has a decent shot at the practice squad.Speaking of linebacker, Emmanuel Smith, Jonathan Celestin and Emmanuel Ellerbee were three of the team’s four leading tacklers. Smith in particular came up with some very timely stops, while Celestin mixed some good tackles with a shakier overall effort than he had any of the previous couple of weeks. I think Celestin is ticketed for a practice squad spot, at this point. Chris Lammons has struggled at times in coverage, but he’s also played safety, nickel cornerback and outside cornerback and shown physicality and real talent. He bolstered his case with an interception last night, and I have to think he’s in play for a practice squad spot. Given how badly Ron Parker has scuffled this preseason, it’s possible if unlikely that he might have a roster spot, too. David Marvin genuinely punted well, and if nothing else Authentic Devonta Freeman Jersey , might earn himself a call if (Football Gods forbid) something happens to Matt Bosher. The UglyI wrote earlier this summer that I thought Kurt Benkert was the most talented young quarterback the Falcons have had in a long time, and I still believe that. I also believe that he’s shown us he’s not remotely ready to step into a real role any time soon, and his dismal preseason finale should allow the Falcons to stash him on the practice squad without any trouble. We’ll see if he can make enough progress to compete for the backup job in 2019. Reggie Davis’ special teams ability may still earn him a practice squad spot, but he had an absolutely disastrous night as a receiver against the Dolphins, dropping multiple passes and shying away from contact. He likely could have sealed up a slot with a quality performance, I think, but the coaching staff can’t have liked what they saw from Thursday night. Matt Gono saw Ty Sambrailo sit this one out, solidifying his status as the swing tackle, and followed that up with a pretty dismal effort against the Dolphins. Gono got beat, got penalized, and showed he still has some work to do before he can be considered a decent reserve tackle. I’m hopeful he’ll hold on to a practice squad spot and get the chance to develop with Atlanta. Ron Parker has not been great all preseason long, and with a missed tackle and some seemingly indifferent efforts in the fourth preseason game, it’s not actually a lock that he’ll make the roster. That game was extremely ugly, and while I think the Falcons had a lot of talent on this 90 man roster this year, it didn’t show up the way I hoped it would in preseason. That ought to make Atlanta’s decisions easier, at least. The WrapupGame MVPThere wasn’t one! Hooray! One TakeawayThis team’s deep depth is not great, which we already knew. Next WeekThe first actual regular season game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons can’t get revenge for the Divisional Round—it’s a regular season game—but they can start off a promising season with a bang. Visit Bleeding Green Nation for more. Final WordIt’sover.
