ORCHARD PARK, N. Adidas Originals Stan Smith Cheap .Y. -- Piles of rubber pellets from the artificial turf surface at New Era Field delayed the start of the second half of Sundays game between the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers by seven minutes. After moderate snowfall in the first half, groundkeepers used tractors equipped with large brushes to clear snow off the artificial turf surface. In addition to removing the snow, the brushes also kicked up large amounts of black rubber pellets used to backfill the turf. The rubber pellets covered the white sideline paint in front of both teams benches, as well as large portions behind each end zone.At the direction of referee Pete Morelli, groundskeepers used shovels and leaf blowers to remove the pellets from the field. A tractor was also called out to make another sweep of the field, while coaches from both teams used their feet to brush pellets off the sideline paint. The Bills released a statement on the delay, which said, The brush on one of the tractors used for snow removal on the field was too firm which caused a build-up of the rubber pellets on the sidelines. Our field crew worked in conjunction with NFL officials to clear the sidelines to their specifications which caused a brief delay in the start of the season half. The Steelers kicked off to begin the second half after the delay. PITTSBURGH -- A once seemingly insurmountable four-touchdown lead gone against resilient Marshall on Saturday night, Pittsburgh could have played it safe and tried to hold on. Cheap Milwaukee Brewers Jerseys .Not this time.Up by just a field goal and facing third down near midfield, Pitt quarterback Nate Peterman lobbed a deep ball to Jester Weah down the sideline. The junior wide receiver pulled it in over a defender and raced to the end zone for a 54-yard touchdown with 1:04 remaining and the Panthers pulled away late for a 43-27 win.I loved it when they called the play, Weah said. I knew I had the ability to make the play. I just had to go out there and just do it.And help Pitt (3-2) avoid another late meltdown. Two weeks after giving up the go ahead touchdown with 2:18 to play in a loss at Oklahoma State and seven days after a 13-point fourth-quarter lead turned into a last-second loss at North Carolina, the Panthers appeared in trouble again when Marshalls Keion Davis scored on a 1-yard run with 4:01 to play to pull the Thundering Herd (1-3) within 30-27.After falling to the Tar Heels, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said his team couldnt afford to become predictable in late-game situations. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada was listening. Peterman hit Scott Orndoff on third down to extend the drive before Petermans second touchdown of the game let the Panthers exhale. The best thing is we made plays when we needed to at the end, Narduzzi said.Peterman finished with a season-high 280 yards passing and two scores. Weah caught seven passes for 176 yards and freshman Chawntez Moss ran for 97 yards. Pitt outgained the Thundering Herd 532-344.Still, it wasnt exactly easy.Marshall quarterback Chase Litton returned after missing a loss to Louisville last week and threw for 240 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Michael Clark caught four passes for 147 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown as part of Marshalls methodical rally, one that hardly seemed possible after an opening 30 minutes in which Pitt did whatever it wanted.PAYING TRIBUTEPitt held a moment of silence before the national anthem in honor of golfer Arnold Palmer. The native of Latrobe, Pennsylvania (about an hour from Heinz Field) passed away at 87 last week. The Panthers also saluted Dr. Stanley Marks following the first quarter. Marks served as Pitt running back James Conners oncologist while the 2014 ACC Player of the Year underwent treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma discovered last Thanksgiving. Conner, who ran for 39 yards and a touchdown, ran in to give Marks a hug and Narduzzi jogged onto the field to follow suit.WELCOME RETURNPitt entered the game with the 127th-ranked pass defense in the nation, next-to-last in the FBS. While Litton and Clark heated up in the second half, the Panthers got in the final word. Cornerback Avonte Maddox -- picked on repeatedly by opponents over the last three weeks -- returned a Litton pass 33 yards for a score on the games final play.Avonte Maddox needed that, Narduzzi said.THE TAKEAWAYMarshall: Litton appears to be just fine and may have one of Conference USAs better wide receivers in Clark. The 6-foot-7 sophomore will be a matchup nightmare down the road.Pitt: The kids are starting to deliver. Narduzzi gave considerable playing time to a handful of freshman, including Moss and freshman wide receivers Tre Tipton and Maurice Ffrench, with promising results. The trio combined for 156 yards of total offense and a pair of touchdowns. Thats what we expect, Tipton said. UP NEXTMarshall: Opens Conference USA play on the road at North Texas next Saturday. The Thundering Herd beat the Mean Green 30-13 last year.Pitt: Gets back into ACC action when it hosts Georgia Tech next Saturday. The Panthers edged the Yellow Jackets 31-28 in 2015 on Chris Blewitts 56-yard field goal with 1:11 to go. Cheap Baseball World Series Jerseys . Early Wednesday morning Youth Austin Ekeler Jersey , the Chargers decided to fill the void left from Training Camp’s day off with the announcement of their uniform schedule for the upcoming season. There weren’t many surprises on the schedule as we have come to expect some of the usual details. Here is what the team’s Home-game schedule looks like:And here is the Away schedule:Other points of interest:The greatest uniforms in the NFL, the Powder Blues, will be worn twice this season. The first being a divisional match-up against the Raiders on October 7th at Home while the second will be the competition across the pond when the Chargers face the Titans in London. The white-on-white combination will be worn only twice, as well. The first coming in the home-opener against the Chiefs on what has been affectionately referred to as White Hot Sunday. The Bolts will go all-whites in Week 4 when they host the 49ers on September 30th.The navy-on-navy combination, which became a huge hit with players and fans last season, will be worn three times at home. Those games will be Week 11 Youth Darius Philon Jersey , 14, and 16 against the Broncos, Bengals, and Ravens, respectively. The team is also bringing back the royal blue “color rush” jerseys for another year as the uniform has become one of the most popular fits in the league since the special edition jerseys were introduced into the league by Nike several years ago. They will be worn against the Cardinals in a home game on November 25th.As it stands, you can expect the usual home and away uniforms combinations to fill in the rest of the games on the schedule. What do you guys think of the uniform schedule? Where did the team get it right? Or wrong? Let us know .Top Ten Defensive Performances of 2017: #6 Casey Hayward v. BUF Wk. #6.) Casey Hayward v. Buffalo - 4 tackles Youth Virgil Green Jersey , 1 TFL, 2 interceptions, 3 passed defendedAfter being signed away from Green Bay during the 2016 free agency period, Casey Hayward went on to have an incredible first season where he led the NFL in interceptions during his first year with the Chargers. In his second year, he put together another long string of phenomenal performances. Game after game, Hayward put the clamps down on one WR1 after another on his way to collecting a career-high player rating by Pro Football Focus of 96.4. What’s even more impressive is that he garnered this rating with only half the interceptions he snagged the year prior. This just goes to show how much of an impact he makes on the Bolts’ defense without having to pick off a pass every other game. With Bills’ rookie quarterback Nathan Peterman getting his first NFL start over Tyrod Taylor Philip Rivers Jersey , Hayward and the rest of the Chargers’ secondary had a field day while feasting on errant passes stemming from a pass rush that seemed to be running on premium gas.Hayward also made his presence felt in the run defense as well, collecting a tackle-for-loss of Shady McCoy for a loss of two yards and limiting several would-be splash plays by the shifty tailback. This signified a real awakening of the defense, including the talent among the secondary and how they figured out the formula to take advantage of inexperienced quarterbacks and how to piggyback off of their pass rushers to make life hell for the offense.

A couple of years ago Joe Barksdale Jersey , late in the season, Chiefs counterpart Andy Reid what many construed as an insult but could just as well be called a compliment.Del Rio opined that Reid's offense often relies on "gimmicky things.""If the word is something that somebody doesn't like, that's just too bad," Del Rio said. "Those are effective plays. You can call it what you want."Maybe so many Chiefs fans wouldn't have taken umbrage if he'd called them creative, pioneering or simply forward-thinking.But regardless of the semantics, the fact remains that after two decades in the NFL, Reid remains one of the most inventive coaches to be found on any sideline."There's just some stuff that he does sometimes that you don't ever think of, and then you see it and you're like, 'That play is going to work.' And it works every single time," Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said."Just the way that his mind thinks and how he exploits defenses, he just knows how to make plays up, it seems like, and they work every single time."Well, not every time. There was that ill-advised throw to tackle-eligible Cam Erving last year against the Jets, and a few more gadget plays over the years have gone awry. But the entirety of the Chiefs offensive is in many ways a master class in offensive innovation, made all the more dangerous by the fact Reid has the proper weapons at his disposal in Mahomes, speedy wide receiver Tyreek Hill, star tight end Travis Kelce and running back Kareem Hunt. The pieces are in place for him to run anything in his ever-expanding playbook."I think you try to find the best scheme you can and also the best players you can. And when you can combine the two at a very high level, you can see some good things," Chiefs offensive lineman Mitch Schwartz said. "That is a huge credit to coach to be able to mix things up and change things."Reid's offensive system has changed over the years, but its roots remain in the West Coast system that longtime 49ers coach Bill Walsh taught Mike Holmgren, who in turn taught the Packers' old offensive line coach. It is predicated on short, horizontal passes to stretch the defense, and then attacks with the running game or downfield throws for bigger gains.Reid used it successfully during his early years in Philadelphia, too. But in the late 2000s, he began to incorporate elements of the college spread offense Womens Mike Pouncey Jersey , and unveiled a new-look system with Michael Vick at quarterback that began to give defensive coordinators fits. The quick, high-percentage passes were still there, but so were the quintessential college read-option, a dizzying array of run-pass options, and other plays Del Rio would call "gimmicky.""We had some of the run-pass-option plays in college," Mahomes said. "Not to the complexity that we had the other day, that we've had this past year and all the time with Coach Reid."One of those run-pass options was on perfect display last week against the Chargers.Twice, in fact. The first time, the Chiefs were just shy of the goal line and Mahomes faked to the running back, then lateraled ahead to DeAnthony Thomas, who was so wide open that he could have moonwalked into the end zone. The play worked so well that they ran it again to Hill a quarter later, and again the Chiefs had the kind of walk-in touchdown that left the Chargers looking foolish. There were also some pop passes, jet sweeps and a myriad of other calls that run counter to the prevailing notion of an NFL offense — not the least of which was a wheel route to Anthony Sherman that the husky fullback wound up taking 36 yards for a third-quarter touchdown."One thing working with Coach Reid, you have to be flexible," Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said. "He'll expand your mind and push your limits."Reid acknowledged that some plays he draws up on a whim, but "I also have good guys that have some good thoughts, too. I keep it open and kind of formulate what I like, then the guys put in their input and we come up with what we come up with. That's the fun part."In a copycat league such as the NFL, any bit of creativity is certainly entertaining.Notes: SS Eric Berry (Achilles tendon) and LB Ben Niemann (hamstring) missed practice Thursday, making it unlikely they will play Sunday in Pittsburgh. ... Chiefs TE Demetrius Harris is back after serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. "Demetrius has always been an important piece of the puzzle," Bieniemy said. "With him missing last week, we kept it moving. But hey, you always want your important pieces around."The Lightning Strike: Is Philip Rivers’ 2018 backup still out there? They say can you never have too much of a good thing. The 2018 Los Angeles Chargers squad has been highly praised for their growth under second-year head coach Anthony Lynn. Moving into a week 1 matchup against AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs, it’s easy to look at both rosters and see why this could be one of the top match-ups to start the regular season on a solid note. The Chargers offense is packed with promising pieces moving forward. Running back Melvin Gordon eclipsed 1000+ rushing yards for the first time in his three year tenure with the organization and looks to build off that moving forward. Finally healthy, the Chargers could have a scary 1-2 combo on the outside with Keenan Allen and former first-round draft pick Mike Williams. Williams’ natural size and ability to win in press coverage could allow him to be the team’s top red zone target following the speed and crisp route running skills cemented by Allen. Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams are excellent complimentary pieces that will allow the Chargers offense to be more multi-dimensional this season. The offensive line is finally in a strong state following a carousel of rotational depth players rather than full-time starters. With the offseason signing of Mike Pouncey, the Chargers finally have some stability to create larger running lanes up the middle. Second-year guards Dan Feeney and Forrest Lamp are expected to have large roles this season Authentic Tyrell Williams Jersey , especially Lamp who missed all of last season. The 2017 second-round draft pick out of Western Kentucky was praised for his excellent footwork and controlled hand movement in the run game. Add on Joe Barksdale and Russell Okung as decent tackles and the Chargers offense is finally set. The defense is filled with playmakers at every level of the field. Joey Bosa is looking to compete for his first Defensive Player of the Year award following his first trip to the Pro-Bowl. Add in establish pass rusher Melvin Ingram III on the strong side to give the Chargers a powerful punch coming from either side to cause havoc in any offense’s backfield. While defensive tackle Corey Liuget will miss the first four games due to his involvement with PEDS, the Chargers have been in talks with former Giants and Colts defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins. Hankins could hold down the fort during Luiget’s suspension and later compete with nose tackle Brandon Mebane for reps down the line. In the back seven, the Chargers defense added one of the most versatile playmakers from the 2018 NFL Draft with their selection of Florida State star Derwin James. James’ abilities as a rangy tackler in the run game but rapid growth in coverage makes him the team’s Swiss-army knife. You can expect to see this year’s 17th overall selection line up at multiple positions around the field depending on the offensive formation. He’ll find a way to standout no matter where he’s lining up. Finally, let’s talk about perhaps the most underrated player in the league today. Cornerback Casey Hayward has been one of the league’s top defenders for three straight seasons, but fails to receive the same type of respect as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Jalen Ramsey or Los Angeles Rams’ Marcus Peters. Since joining the Bolts in 2016, the 28-year-old has collected 11 interceptions along with 42 pass deflections in coverage, leading both categories among all active defensive players. With an established offense and slowly rising defense, the Bolts have every right to feel confident heading into the season as perhaps the “top dogs” of the AFC West. Stack them up with every other team in their division and they sweep the competition. As long as Philip Rivers remains under center, the Chargers path back to the postseason is as clear as the water at Santa Monica State Beach. That’s the kicker though. As long as Rivers stays healthy.Through three preseason games, the Chargers potential backups to the future Hall of Fame quarterback have shown little growth as potential signal-callers for the Chargers offense. However, both Geno Smith and Cardale Jones do fit the bill of Lynn’s mobile quarterback mold he had/preferred while with the Buffalo Bills. There’s a difference, however, between being a mobile quarterback and a scrambler. Lynn’s mobile quarterbacks need to be able to survey the field outside the pocket while looking for a running lane to keep the drive alive if unable to find an open target. A scrambler is running for his life due to poor offensive line play and consistent pressure collapsing the pocket. Case in point; take option A. Always take option A. The first-team offensive line is sound-proof heading into Kansas City should either Geno Smith or Cardale Jones have to suit up due to the football gods wanting to curse the Chargers a little bit more with the injury bug. Both Jones and Smith came from offenses that allowed them to use their legs to extend plays while allowing things to set up downfield.Slight problem; that was college, this is the NFL. Cornerbacks won’t bite on pump passes, linebackers have cleaner footwork and defensive tackles are twice as fast off the snap as they plow into the backfield. Actually, let’s give some praise before bashing the quarterbacks for their inabilities to command a second-team offense. This preseason, Smith has looked light-years ahead of Jones under center. The former Jets and Giants quarterback might look flustered at times but has still been able to keep drives alive and help the Chargers score. Smith has gone 27-of-42 for 348 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions through the first three contests. Are the numbers great? No. Are they as bad as Jones’? Far from it. The former Ohio State legend who led the Buckeyes to their first National Championship since 2014 has been abysmal this preseason. Unable to connect with his receivers, being flustered in the pocket, a lack of drive in critical situations; these could be considered some of the top highlights to Jones’ camp. In three games, the 25-year-old quarterback has gone 10-of-19 for 148 passing yards. While he hasn’t thrown an interception, he still hasn’t found the end zone either. Let’s just call it a mediocre preseason and move on from it. Thursday night’s action will be previewed as a “fierce” or “competitive” or “insert your describing verb here” battle between the two competitors for the right to back up Rivers in 2018. Let’s just cut to the chase because, well, there’s no reason to get frustrated on a game day such as today. Neither are solid options but if you have to pick one of the lesser evils, Smith is the guy every time. Jones has been unable to show any growth since joining the Chargers from Buffalo last season. His lack of arm strength and inability to extend drives are problems that can’t be fixed overnight even by the best minds in football. That’s putting it nicely for you folks with delicate ears, as well. While Smith might win the battle, he might not win the war. With rosters being finalized by 4 p.m. EST onz Saturday afternoon , the infamous waiver wire claims could allow the Bolts to add more competition to their quarterback room. Jones will likely be waived, opening space for another face to join the powder blue family. Suppose you don’t like Smith as the backup to Rivers. Never fear, back ups are here! Let’s take a look at five faces who could be available to come in and perhaps be the long-term QB2 for Rivers this season. Logan Woodside- Cincinnati Bengals Woodside led the the nation in 2016 with 45 touchdowns for the Toledo Rockets and capped off his season with a 183.3 passer rating. More of a game-managing style of play, electing for higher completions rather than deep chances, Woodside’s a safe bet with the ability to extend drives down the field both under center and working outside the pocket. His football IQ is strong and his footwork was flawless during college. He could end up working well with Rivers and perhaps even be in the running to take over once Rivers calls it a career. He may not be the biggest quarterback with the biggest arm, but his accuracy is on point as is his knowledge of the game should carry him for awhile.Joshua Dobbs- Pittsburgh Steelers Let’s stay in the AFC North and check out another quarterback who fits the Lynn mold. With the arrival of Mason Rudolph as the potential heir apparent to Big Ben Roethlisberger, a strong showcase against the Carolina Panthers could make him this year’s top trade bait quarterback following Teddy Bridgewater’s move down to the Bayou of New Orleans. Dobbs is also a game manager like Woodside but perhaps with a bit more power. A quicker release and the ability to move outside the pocket, Dobbs fits all the criteria needed to help the Chargers offense stay relevant without Rivers. The big concern will be his reaction time. This preseason, Dobbs hasn’t been able to show off his arm or speed due to his lack of decision-making under center. It’s an issue he’ll need to fix fast but the IQ and knowledge needed to keep drives alive are there. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell that this rocket scientist could be a better option than Smith for the future. Kyle Sloter- Minnesota VikingsThis is the ideal selection for the Chargers if he becomes available. Sloter’s been a preseason star the past two years. Following an impressive preseason with the Denver Broncos in 2017, the former Northern Colorado quarterback once again showed the NFL his ability to keep team’s alive late in games with excellent play calling and even better throws. This preseason, Sloter has gone 30-of-41 for 243 yards and has thrown three touchdowns. His passer rating is through the roof with an average of 190.9. With the proper size and mechanics to keep drives moving forward, Sloter should be a top target for the Chargers should the Vikings send him back down to another season on the practice squad. The undrafted passer has proven his worth. Colin Kaepernick- Free Agent Put the feelings aside for a second. Lay down your mean comments and political thoughts and open your eyes. While perhaps a controversial signing due to the hype of media that will come flooding in, Kaepernick does fit the mold of what Lynn could want in a quarterback. Let’s remember that this is the same player who took the San Francisco 49ers back to the Super Bowl just five years ago in his second NFL season. His mobility allows him to move outside the pocket and give his receivers extra time to work upfield to win coverage battles. While not the strongest arm, Kaepernick can still deliver a nice spiral across the middle and fit the ball into fast-closing windows.Plus, add in his career numbers. The former 49ers quarterback has thrown a career 12,271 passing yards for 72 touchdowns against his 30 interceptions. With a career quarterback rating of 88.9, Kaepernick’s experience, along with quality mechanics, could put him in the running to perhaps head out to Los Angeles this upcoming season. No matter how you look at the upcoming Chargers season, things are trending upward for the Bolts this year. If everything stays the way it is, expect to be hearing Los Angeles in the conversation of making a trip down to Atlanta for Super Bowl 53 come January. But if you worry about life after Rivers, make sure you check out every other preseason game Thursday night. The future is bright in the world of Los Angeles sports, just not with the Chargers backups, at the moment.

Los Angeles Chargers Daily Links: Chargers LB Jatavis Brown renews faith , focused on bounce-back season - Eric Williams"What I credit him for is he played injured," Chargers linebackers coach Richard Smith said. "He's the kind of young man who's never going to use that as an excuse, but he played with a high-ankle sprain, so I don't think his change of direction and things like that probably looked like they did the year before.Does Melvin Gordon's real-world value match his fantasy value? - Scott SprattBut even while Gordon approached Tomlinson’s stratosphere of fantasy production, yards per carry suggested he was nowhere near the same quality of player. Even at the end of his prime, Tomlinson enjoyed peak seasons with more than 5.0 yards per carry. Gordon Brandon Mebane Jersey , in contrast, has yet to break 4.0 yards per carry in any of his three seasons. His yards-per-carry rates have been below even the average mark for running backs in recent years, around 4.1 to 4.2.PFF's top 25 NFL players under 25 for 2018 - Brett WhitefieldAs a rookie in 2016, Bosa earned the highest-ever grade for a first-year edge defender at 89.8. His 59 total pressures that year (37 hurries, 11 QB hits, 11 sacks) were the most we have ever seen through a player’s first 12 games Casey Hayward Jersey , but he wasn’t done there. Bosa took his play to another level in 2017, solidifying himself as not only an elite player for his age, but among the entire NFL. Bosa’s 2017 pass-rush grade of 93.2 led all edge defenders while his 46 combined hits and sacks since entering the league in 2016 ranks sixth. At only 22 years old, Bosa could hold the top spot down for years to come.PFF 2018 NFL Draft Quotable – AFC & NFC West - Michael RennerCantrell is a big-body receiver who shined in the Texas Tech Air Raid offense as a high-volume receiver. Despite his size at 6-foot-3, Cantrell displayed an ability to force defenders miss, racking up 21 missed tackles after the catch on his 149 career receptions. What LB Uchenna Nwosu brings to the Chargers - Gavino BorquezHis ability to time the snap and explode off the ball gave him the upper hand against most tackles. He paired that speed with a deadly spin move from time to time. His use of hands are very good and it helped him hold the point of attack. His length allowed him to be extend as an open field tackler and against the outside run , where he showed a superb job at closing the edge.Social Media Information:BFTB Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBFTB Twitter: Follow @BFTB_ChargersThe Lightning Round Twitter: Follow @Lightning_RoundThe Lightning Round Facebook: Click here to like our pageBFTB Manager: Richard Wade: Follow @RichardWadeInjury Update: Forrest Lamp Working The Sled During Recent Practice It’s obviously been well over a year since Forrest Lamp tore his ACL on the first day of full pads during last year’s training camp. cutdown day Minnesota Vikings Womens T-Shirt , making the Denver Broncos' roster Saturday despite slipping to third on the depth chart this summer behind primary backup quarterback Chad Kelly, last year's "Mr. Irrelevant.""With Chad not having a lot of experience and not having played in a regular season game before, we thought we had to go with three quarterbacks," Elway said. So, Lynch, who lost out to Trevor Siemian for the starting job each of the last two summers, is officially a developmental QB.As such, he will have to improve on his own while running the scout team and facing Denver's defense, Elway said, while starting quarterback Case Keenum prepares for games.Lynch's roster spot might not be safe for the season, however.Elway said he had reached out to several available seasoned quarterbacks "but the veteran quarterbacks didn't want to come in right now," preferring to wait for better opportunities for playing time.Kelly, who spent his rookie season last year on IR, leapfrogged Lynch last month, becoming the second seventh-rounder to beat out the former Memphis star whom Elway moved up to draft 26th overall in 2016.Elway did take a sledgehammer to his 2017 draft class, as he discharged running back De'Angelo Henderson , receiver Carlos Henderson, cornerback Brendan Langley and punt returner Isaiah McKenzie in reaching the NFL's 53-man limit. The Broncos kept 10 rookies, including eight members of their much-ballyhooed 2018 draft class, plus undrafted running back Phillip Lindsay and linebacker A.J. Johnson Minnesota Vikings Hats , the former Tennessee star who missed 3 1-2 years of football while fighting a rape case. He was acquitted in June.Elway isn't fretting the infusion of youth."I get excited" about rookies, Elway said. "I don't get nervous about it."Among the rookies expected to make immediate impacts are Lindsay, Bradley Chubb, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Josey Jewell."I'm excited about the '18 class," Elway said. "The '17 class, I'm not giving up on that, either. Obviously, we had to let a few of them go today."Some of the 2017 draftees' departures were anticipated after Elway shifted his philosophy this year and drafted experience and leadership — all 10 of his picks spent four years in major college programs and were captains — instead of selecting athletic, raw prospects like the ones who dominated the 2017 class."Picking high in each rounds helps," said Elway, who selected fifth after a dismal 5-11 season. "I really hope that we're not picking nearly that high again next year."Carlos Henderson, a third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech in 2017, never played in a game for Denver. He spent last year on injured reserve and didn't show up for training camp this year, citing personal reasons.Like much of last year's draft class, Langley was a project who played just one year of college ball at his position — and he went down in classification to do it — transferring from Georgia to Lamar.McKenzie fumbled six times as a rookie but enjoyed coach Vance Joseph's staunch support until his fumble as a receiver last month cost the Broncos a chance at a last-minute field goal to beat the Bears.Last week, the Broncos signed veteran Adam Jones , making both McKenzie and Langley expendable. The Broncos placed rookie tight end Troy Fumagalli (groin) on IR and receiver Jordan Taylor, still recovering from double hip surgery, was placed on the PUP list. The only 2018 draftee who didn't make the cut was Arkansas running back David Williams.Other notable cuts included: Holding onto a 3-0 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field Minnesota Vikings Womens Hoodie , the Minnesota Vikings started the second quarter with a 3rd-and-13 from their own 17-yard line. Kirk Cousins dropped back to pass and found Kyle Rudolph for a short gain, forcing the Vikings to punt for the first time on the day. Matt Wile came in to boot the ball away, and with a decent bounce the Eagles took over from their own 33-yard line.Carson Wentz immediately went to work, as he looked deep for Shelton Gibson for a huge 48-yard gain, and they were all the way down to the Minnesota 19-yard line. Fortunately, the Eagles’ offense stalled out thanks to a dropped pass by Wendell Smallwood, and the Eagles had to settle for a 30-yard field goal by Jake Elliott to tie the game at 3-3.The kickoff from Elliott went through the end zone for a touchback, giving the Vikings the ball at their own 25. Cousins started things with a short pass to C.J. Ham, and a short pass to Stefon Diggs moved the sticks after Diggs made a ridiculous number of moves.Diggs then took an end-around and rambled for 20 yards into Philadelphia territory at the 39. Latavius Murray then broke out his best run of the year, going for 12 yards to the 27. After a one-yard loss and a false start on Diggs, the Vikings were facing a 2nd-and-16. A short pass to Roc Thomas got the Vikings back to the original line of scrimmage, and Cousins’ pass for Adam Thielen on third down fell incomplete.Minnesota brought Dan Bailey out for his third field goal attempt of the game, this one a 45-yard attempt. Bailey then pushed his attempt wide to the right, because Vikings’ kickers. The score remained tied at 3-3 with just under seven minutes remaining in the half.Carson Wentz and the Eagles took over from their own 35. He found Nelson Agholor for a first down to near the midfield stripe on the Eagles’ first play of the drive, and a short pass to Jay Ajayi moved the Eagles into Minnesota territory. Ajayi then moved the sticks on a run play, and Wentz found Dallas Goedert for another first down to the Vikings’ 31. Then, the greatest thing ever happened.Stephen Weatherly came through and hit Wentz, causing the ball to flutter into the air, and it landed in the hands of Linval Joseph! Linval then proceeded to rumble. . .and not stumble. . .and go ALL THE WAY TO THE END ZONE for a 63-yard touchdown! Bailey added the extra point, and suddenly the Vikings were up by a score of 10-3.Man Womens Customized Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , fat guy touchdowns are the best. The Eagles’ started out on their own 26-yard line on the ensuing drive, and Wentz scrambled for eight yards to start the drive. After a pair of false start penalties against the Eagles, Wentz’s pass for Alshon Jeffery fell incomplete and the Eagles were forced to punt. Cameron Johnston booted the ball away, and Brandon Zylstra fielded a short punt and took it to the Minnesota 44-yard line.Cousins found Kyle Rudolph to put the Vikings into Eagles territory at the two-minute warning. The Vikings moved the sticks on a couple of passes to Thielen, and then Thielen caught a pass to move the ball inside the Eagles’ 30. After a questionable. . .very questionable. . .roughing the passer call on Michael Bennett, the Vikings had the ball at the Philadelphia 12-yard line. Cousins found Rudolph down to the 3-yard line, and then Cousins lofted a beautiful pass to Adam Thielen in the back left corner of the end zone for a three-yard touchdown! Bailey tacked on the extra point, and the Vikings took a 17-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.Cousins has been on fire in the first half, as he’s completed 20-of-24 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. Stefon Diggs has done the majority of the damage, as he’s caught six passes for 51 yards. Thielen has six catches for 42 yards and a score, and Kyle Rudolph has hauled in three passes for 22 yards. Laquon Treadwell has also chipped in with three grabs for 21 yards. On the ground, Diggs is actually the team’s leading rusher, too, with two carries for 25 yards. Latavius Murray has five carries for 17 yards, and Roc Thomas has 12 yards on a pair of carries. Mike Boone gained one yard on his lone carry of the day.As we move to the second half at Lincoln Financial Field, the Minnesota Vikings lead the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 17-3. Come on in and join us for the third quarter of play, folks!

Welcome to the Sloterhouse: All the Minnesota Vikings do is win thrillers in the All-Important Third Preseason Game鈩?at U.S. Bank Stadium.Kyle Sloter engineered two fourth-quarter touchdown drives. . .and may have secured a promotion in the process. . .as the purple came from behind to defeat the Seattle Seahawks by a final score of 21-20.The big story of the first half White Trae Waynes Jersey , and the game as a whole. . .in a bad way. . .was the performance of rookie kicker Daniel Carlson. After winning the job this week when the Vikings cut Kai Forbath, Carlson had two 42-yard attempts in the first half of play, and he pushed them both wide to the left. The first-string offense for the Vikings was fairly solid, for the most part. Their scoring drive in the first half was a massive 13-play, 97-yard effort that was capped by a 1-yard run by Latavius Murray that gave the Vikings a 6-0 lead to start the second quarter. (The Vikings went for two after the touchdown, with Cousins’ pass for Laquon Treadwell falling incomplete.) On the evening, Cousins went 17-of-28 for 182 yards through the air, and the Vikings went 7-of-9 on third downs in the first half after the team, collectively, went 0-for-12 in the previous game against Jacksonville. The starting offense played the entire first half, and though they were a bit up-and-down, I thought they were solid overall.Seattle took a 10-6 lead into the locker room at halftime, thanks to a Chris Carson touchdown run and a Sebastian Janikowski 35-yard field goal. Janikowski connected from 55 midway through the third quarter to give the road team a 13-6 lead.On the Vikings’ second possession of the third quarter, Trevor Siemian took it upon himself to do his best Brad Johnson impression.Siemian looked pretty poor overall, however. He lasted one quarter and completed 4-of-8 passes for three yards. Yes, 3.Newly-acquired George Iloka finally got into the game on defense in the fourth quarter, and immediately made an impact, tipping an Alex McGough pass that was intercepted by Anthony Harris to give the Vikings the ball at the Seattle 32.Minnesota took advantage of the turnover, as Kyle Sloter. . .who went 4-for-4 on his first drive. . .found the pride of Maple Grove, Jake Wieneke, for a 1-yard score with Carlson’s extra point making it 13-13.Seattle answered the Minnesota touchdown with one of their own Youth Harrison Smith Jersey , as McGough attonned for his turnover by leading the Seahawks down the field. He connected with receiver David Moore for a 36-yard touchdown on a broken coverage by the Vikings, and Janikowski’s extra point put the road team back on top by a score of 20-13.Moore nearly struck again, as he provided the Vikings’ punt return unit with their third disaster in three weeks. He broke free for what appeared to be a 75-yard punt return for a score, but it was called back by a holding penalty. That’s definitely going to be an issue for the Vikings, and they need to fix it in short order.Speaking of punt returns, undrafted rookie Chad Beebe had a good one of his own to put the Vikings in position to score near the end of the game. That led to this outstanding touchdown from Sloter to Beebe on a 4th-and-15 with the Vikings out of timeouts and under a minute remaining. That was a 25-yarder for the score, and the Vikings took the lead back with a two-point conversion from Sloter to Wieneke to make it 21-20 in favor of the good guys.Seattle got themselves to midfield on their last-ditch effort, and got a shot at a Hail Mary at the end, but McGough’s pass was caught at the 2-yard line and the Vikings’ stopped the receiver short to hold on for a 21-20 win.Minnesota did have a mild injury scare, when third-string running back Mike Boone went down on the go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter. He was on the sideline walking under his own power by the end of the game, so it would appear that it’s nothing serious. We’ll have more on this one over the course of the next few days, as the Minnesota Vikings defeat the Seattle Seahawks in a preseason “thriller” by a score of 21-20. Thank you to everyone that got their coverage of this week’s game right here at The Daily Norseman! The majority of the NFL action for Week 8 is in the books, and now we can finally sit back and treat ourselves to the most important game of the weekend.Yes, it’s time for Sunday Night Football, and this week your Minnesota Vikings are hosting the New Orleans Saints at U.S. Bank Stadium. Both of these teams are on a bit of a roll coming into this one, and the Vikings are missing some pieces, so we’ll see if they can maintain their positive momentum. Here is everything you need to know.Time: Sunday, 28 October, 7:20 PM Central timeLocation: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MinnesotaTelevision coverage: KARE-11 in the Twin Cities Youth Stefon Diggs Jersey , NBC affiliates across the countryRadio coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 83, XM Channel 225Line: Saints -2, Over/under 55Prediction: Saints 34, Vikings 31Three keys1) Get pressure on Drew Brees - This is going to be as big a key as any in this one. The Vikings are hurting in the secondary, and even though it appears that Xavier Rhodes will play, he might not be 100%. That means that the big guys up front are going to have to get after Brees in this one. Hopefully the return of Everson Griffen will provide the Vikings’ defense the spark they need to do just that.2) Throw the football. A lot. - Usually, the emphasis is on being able to run the football to balance things out offensively, but in this case that could be counter-productive. The Saints’ run defense is really good, but their pass defense is awful, and they certainly don’t have anyone capable of hanging with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Kirk Cousins is going to have time to make plays in this one, and I think the Vikings are going to have to air it out in a big way.3) Take advantage of home cooking - By that, I don’t mean any sort of “hometown calls” from the officials. . .as if the Vikings would get those anyway. . .but it’s tough to deny that the Saints are a significantly different team on the road than they are at home. The crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium tonight should be bonkers, and the Vikings are going to need to take advantage of that in this one.Know the Foe: Canal Street ChroniclesTwitter: Right hereFaceBook: by DailyNorseman As usual, we will roll out a brand new Open Thread at the start of each quarter, so make sure you keep your eyes open for that. Enjoy tonight’s game, ladies and gentlemen, and hopefully in a few hours here we’ll be celebrating the Vikings’ fourth consecutive victory.SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!

Minnesota Vikings 23 Youth Stefon Diggs Jersey , Philadelphia Eagles 21: It might not have been the Conference Championship Game, but you know. . .it still feels pretty nice.Kirk Cousins had another outstanding game, and the Vikings’ defense did just enough to knock off the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field by a final score of 23-21.After the teams exchanged field goals in the first quarter, the Vikings were the first team to find the end zone, and it came courtesy of the defense. Stephen Weatherly sliced through the Philadelphia line and hit Carson Wentz, who had the ball flutter out of his hands and into the waiting arms of defensive tackle Linval Joseph. Joseph did the rest, as he rumbled 64 yards for a touchdown, with Dan Bailey’s extra point putting the Vikings up by a score of 10-3.The Vikings’ offense got into the act at the end of the first half, as Kirk Cousins found Adam Thielen for a 3-yard touchdown pass just before the break. That made the score 17-3 in favor of the Vikings, and things were going well for the Vikings in the early going. Each team put up a field goal in the third quarter, and the Vikings took a 20-6 lead into the final quarter of play. The Eagles struck back in the early stages of the fourth quarter, as Wentz found running back Wendell Smallwood for a 12-yard score, and then Smallwood converted a 2-point run to cut the deficit to 20-14 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Vikings then made a costly mistake, as an attempted screen pass from Cousins to Roc Thomas wound up being a backward pass that was fumbled by Thomas, with the Eagles recovering the loose ball. An intentional grounding penalty on Wentz helped to derail the Eagles’ drive , and the lead remained 20-14 with just over nine minutes remaining.Minnesota then put together a solid drive, and pushed into Philadelphia territory to set up a 52-yard field goal attempt for Bailey. Bailey, who had missed two field goals earlier in the game, split the uprights and gave the Vikings back a two-score lead at 23-14.The Eagles then answered with a big drive of their own, as the Vikings allowed a lot of cushion on defense and Philadelphia took advantage. Wentz hit Zach Ertz in the back left corner of the end zone, and with the extra point from Jake Elliott the score went to 23-21.There was a bit of a scare at the end of the game, as the Eagles attempted an onside kick and it appeared to bounce off of the hands of Adam Thielen, but he jumped back on it and, because the Eagles had no timeouts remaining, the Vikings were able to just kneel out the clock.Kirk Cousins had yet another brilliant performance for the Vikings, completing completing 30-of-37 passes for 301 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings’ receivers, as you’d expect, had big games as well, particularly Adam Thielen. Thielen hauled in seven catches for 116 yards and a score, and became the first receiver since the AFL/NFL merger to begin a season with five consecutive 100-yard performances. Stefon Diggs chipped in with ten catches for 91 yards. The Vikings even their season record at 2-2-1 Womens Eric Kendricks Jersey , and next week return to U.S. Bank Stadium to take on the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles fall to 2-3 on the season, and will have a short week as they travel to take on the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football. The Minnesota Vikings even their record with a big victory over the Philadelphia Eagles by a final score of 23-21. Barrett & Taysom Hill - No bums were harmed in the making of this film fits as a perfect disclaimer here.Tom Savage plays the role of Rodney Dangerfield (In Rev’s mind) as he just can’t seem to get any respect from Ellias who recognizes that Savage has talent but also sees a problem upstairs that could be hard for Sean Payton to fix.Trust me you’ll want to hear this debate vs reading about it!Who Dat Confessional Q & A(28:45)Which 2018 rookie has impressed the mostSheldon Rankins or David Onyemata - Who would you sign in FA?Will Demario Davis lead the league in Tackles?Does Tre’Quan Smith beat out Cameron Meredith for #3 WR position?Who is a dark horse Defensive Lineman to make the team?Is Al Quadin Muhammad the next Junior Galette minus the belt?Is it time to find a succession play to Terron Armstead at LT?Who fills in for Ingram for the first four games? What position worries us the most moving forward? There are multiple ways to catch your favorite Saints podcast! None of them earned a win.Cleveland's Baker Mayfield and Arizona's Josh Rosen came close. Both of their teams lost by a field goal. Buffalo's Josh Allen had the worst game of the group in a shutout loss. Sam Darnold and the Jets didn't have a chance against Jacksonville.Mayfield was 21 of 41 for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 45-42 overtime loss at Oakland. He came off the bench to lead the Browns to a rare win the previous game against the Jets.Rosen also made his first start Cheap Vonn Bell Jersey , going 15 of 27 for 180 yards and one TD in a 20-17 loss to Seattle.Allen was 16 of 33 for 151 yards and two picks in a 22-0 loss to Green Bay. He led the Bills to a stunning upset at Minnesota a week earlier.Darnold was 17 of 34 for 167 yards and one TD in a 31-12 loss to the Jaguars.Baltimore's Lamar Jackson got four carries in a win against the Steelers so all five quarterbacks picked in the first round played the same week. When Mayfield and Rosen made their debuts in Week 3, it was the first time five first-round quarterbacks played within the first three games of a season. Here's a look inside more numbers going into Week 5:BREEZING PAST PEYTON: Drew Brees needs 201 yards passing yards when New Orleans hosts the Redskins on Monday to surpass Peyton Manning (71,940) and Brett Favre (71,838) for most passing yards in NFL history. Brees (496) and Brady (497) are close to joining Manning and Favre as the only members of the 500 touchdown passes club.GETTING OFFENSIVE: The totals for points (3 Cheap Austin Carr Jersey ,030), touchdowns (344) and touchdown passes (228) are all the highest through the first four weeks of a season.PASSING LEAGUE: The 12 individual performances of at least 400 yards is the most through the first four weeks. The five individual 400-yard passing performances in Week 4 were the most ever in a single week.PARITY: The average margin of victory has been 9.9 points and 38 games have been decided by eight points or fewer, the most ever through four weeks. Six games in Week 4 had the winning points scored in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime.FLYING HIGH: The Rams can become the fifth team to score at least 30 points in each of their first five games to start a season. Peyton Manning holds the record to start a season with 20 TDs and no picks.ADAM'S MARK: Vikings receiver Adam Thielen has at least 100 yards receiving yards in the first four games. waiting to be displayed in his man cave. All of them are ones he intercepted during his seven years in the NFL.Drew Brees. Ben Roethlisberger. Joe Flacco.Gipson hopes to add to his haul Sunday when the Jaguars (3-1) play at unbeaten Kansas City and against second-year sensation Patrick Mahomes ."He's so good I hope he throws me one Authentic Josh LeRibeus Jersey ," Gipson said Wednesday. "How 'bout this? I'm going to talk him up all week. He's playing so good that when I pick him off I might have to put his ball up there with Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees. That's how good I think he is."Gipson was being a little sarcastic.Although he gave Mahomes plenty of credit for starting the season with 14 touchdown passes and no interceptions, he also made it clear that he likes his team's chances in a matchup featuring the league's top offense against the league's No. 1 defense ."I'm taking this defense over everyone, no matter who we're playing against, no matter who's on offense," Gipson said. "We've got the guys over here to do it. This is something that we're built for. We're built on speed. We're built on toughness. We're built on that fire and passion. We're going to have a good outing on Sunday."On a defense filled with playmakers and trash-talkers, Gipson might be the best combination of both.He guaranteed a victory against New England in Week 2, then went out and held Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski to two receptions for 15 yards. He insisted New York Jets rookie Sam Darnold would be overwhelmed against Jacksonville last week and vowed to get the secondary's first interception of the season. He did get a pick, but it was overturned because of a holding call on the opposite side of the field.Gipson also mocked Minnesota in the preseason, saying there's no way the Vikings would finish ahead of Jacksonville again in total defense. The Vikings are currently 21st. He also ripped Pro Bowl voting, which made him a fifth alternate last season."All of those guys confused me," Gipson said. "It was a travesty."Gipson had 64 tackles, seven pass breakups and four interceptions in 2017, playing mostly in a single-high-safety scheme that forces him to cover sideline to sideline and often makes him the last line of defense. He has 364 tackles and 19 interceptions total. He's often overshadowed on a defense that includes cornerback Jalen Ramsey Youth Austin Carr Jersey , linebacker Telvin Smith and defensive ends Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue. But he's far from overlooked by coaches and teammates."We call him the tight end whisperer," Smith said.Gipson has made it a goal to make the Pro Bowl this season and can add to his resume against Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has 23 receptions for 307 yards and three touchdowns. Slowing Kelce might be more important than getting a football with Mahomes' name on it."This is what I get excited for," Gipson said. "This is going to be huge. Not to make this an individual deal, but you want to win your one-on-one matchups. ... If you feel like you're the best, if you feel like you want to put it out there that you're the best, you've got to go against the best."You start getting the respect you deserve once you start doing it against the big people." It’s the week we’ve all been waiting for, the battle to reclaim our dignity and show the world that we can prevent walk off touchdowns. Tonight, the Saints return to Minneapolis Minnesota to take on the Vikings, and we are set for one gritty game. Not only will this be a fantastic fantasy productive game, but also will possibly one of the hardest played games of the regular season. There’s a lot of fantasy studs in this matchup and to be honest this week is a bit of a no-brainer on the Vikings side of the ball, but for those of you who are not familiar with the Vikings wide receivers (probably an alien, maybe brain dead) I will definitely be starting one of them this week Ken Crawley Jersey , and his name is Adam Thielen. Photo by Adam Bettcher/Getty ImagesThielen came into the league undrafted and has earned the No. 1 wide receiver spot this year with one heck of a stat line. The man has put up more than 100 yards in every game he’s played this season, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. Kirk Cousins knows who his man is on that team, and if you were lucky enough to grab him this year like I did, then you’re probably doing pretty well in your league this season. It’s a given that Marshon Lattimore will be covering Thielen Sunday night, so be on the lookout for Stefon Diggs (or as I call him, Dirty Diggs). We all remember that cold dark night last January, and I’m sure he’ll be getting some love this week as well. As much as I hate to say it, I’m starting both of these guys this week in my leagues. This is the time of year when you have to really dig deep and put your feelings aside so that you can get to your championships, and these purple people eaters are going to have plenty of targets to help you out with that. On the Saints side of the ball, I’m looking at two positions that the Vikings defense have shown some weakness to this year, and having these guys this week could really help make your push for the W. As you all know, we have a star studded offense, so I’ve made the transition into a matchup article instead of a start’em sit’em and will continue this here on out. If you are a Benjamin Watson owner or a Wil Lutz owner , then you just set yourself up for a big week according to stats. Right now, the Vikings are giving up around 10 points on average to kickers and 9 points to tight ends. Be looking for Drew Brees to be hitting Watson in the red zone plenty tonight and followed by a successful PAT attempt each time by Lutz companies with a few field goals. I honestly see this game coming down to a kick for the win, and my crystal ball prediction for Lutz is 14 points. Photo by Daniel Shirey/Getty ImagesAll in all, this game to me will be the deciding factor if New Orleans makes it back to the playoffs this year. I want to see it, you want to see, it but Vikings fans don’t. We have brewed a rivalry with this team after what went down last season, and it’s good to have a team other than the Falcons to despise to be honest. I hope you all enjoy Sunday Night Football this week, and be sure to heckle every SKOL fan in sight. For any and all NFL Start/Sit questions you have, feel free to ask me on Twitter @GarageGuyChase and Subscribe to the Garage Guys Fantasy Sports Podcast available on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google.

Top overall draft pick Baker Mayfield vs. No. 3 selection Sam Darnold Marshon Lattimore Jersey , a mano a mano between the rookie quarterbacks.Oh, wait. Mayfield is a bench jockey in Cleveland right now, while Darnold is winging touchdowns and interceptions for the Jets.Enthusiasm peaked after Darnold destroyed Detroit in New York's opener, then came to a near halt when he struggled against Miami. The Browns have a developing defense led by the NFL's No. 1 draft choice in 2017, Myles Garrett. If Darnold can stay upright and cool, New York could win.But that's hardly the history for the Jets. You know, just when things are looking up ...The Jets, ranked 21st in the AP Pro32, are 3-point underdogs to No. 26 Cleveland. That's the value of a field goal, or three extra points. Maybe in the Browns' case, we shouldn't go there considering what happened in New Orleans with all the flubbed kicks.Of course, they have a new kicker — and will get their first win of the century. They finished third behind only the Ravens (22) and Jaguars (21) with 20 interceptions and for the first time in years functioned as a strength rather than a liability for the team. The Pro Bowl level play of two rookies, Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Williams, stabilized a position group that had previously served as Saints fans’ greatest source of anxiety over the majority of the past decade.First round pick, Marshon Lattimore, crushed his rookie season. He was so effective, at times, the receiver he covered was all but erased from the opposition’s game plan. Lattimore made top tier playmakers like Julio Jones and Mike Evans look pedestrian while limiting the quarterbacks he faced to a ridiculously low 45.3 passer rating while targeting him.The fresh faced rookie cornerback from Ohio State earned a PFF grade of 90.5 which ranked him fourth overall among all cornerbacks. Lattimore shadowed his receivers so well, he racked up five interceptions, 10 passes defended, and one touchdown. He was a solid tackler on his way to 45 solo, five assisted, and one tackle for loss. He also forced and recovered one fumble each. Lattimore’s stats, in my mind, were even more impressive since it became evident as the season went on that quarterbacks were actively avoiding throwing in his direction. The Saints made another valuable and position group altering move when they drafted Utah’s Marcus Williams in the second round. Everyone remembers his missed tackle on Stefon Diggs in the playoffs, but most people might have forgotten that was only Williams’ fifth missed tackle the entire year after starting every game his rookie season. In fact Cheap Mark Ingram Jersey , Williams earned an 86.8 PFF grade which ranked him 12th overall among all safeties. He showed a knack for being around the ball as he made four interceptions, including one in the same game against Minnesota that spurred the Saints’ near comeback. And though many hated on his tackling form against Diggs on that final play, Williams was a tackling machine all year as he compiled 66 solo, 11 assisted, and 1 tackle for loss. The way Williams carried himself following the missed tackle on Diggs showed he is mature and fully capable of learning from his mistakes. I expect Williams to play with even more confidence and swag this year. The next two important cogs in the Saints secondary are both third year pros who have either met or exceeded fans’ expectations. Safety, Vonn Bell, was serviceable enough for the Saints to feel ok about letting former first round pick Kenny Vacarro walk in free agency. Bell ranked 65th overall among safeties while earning a 69.5 PFF grade. Bell didn’t notch any interceptions, but he did have one pass defended. He made a greater impression with his tackling. Bell ended with 64 solo, 13 assisted, and 2 tackles for loss. He also added a crucial 5 sacks along the way. New free agent signing, Kurt Coleman, could provide some worthy competition, but so far, Bell has played well enough to justify his spot. The other important cog flew under the radar in 2016 but came on as an integral piece in the secondary in 2017. Many Saints fans were worried after Delvin Breaux failed to return from his lower leg injury, but Ken Crawley erased those fears immediately after starting in the third game of the season. Once Crawley replaced a struggling De’Vante Harris, he never looked back, and the Saints started rolling along on an eight game winning streak.Ranked 39th overall with a PFF grade of 81.6, Crawley exceeded all expectations as he locked in the number two cornerback spot. With one interception and 13 passes defended, Crawley made trouble for those assigned to him. In Addition Wil Lutz Jersey , his tackling was solid as he amassed 50 solo, 2 assisted, and 1 tackle for loss. The final starting secondary spot, nickel cornerback, will most likely be filled by either PJ Williams or Patrick Robinson. Simply by comparing their production from last year, it’s reasonable to assume P Rob will be given the first opportunity to lock down the nickel spot. PJ Williams earned a PFF grade of 67.5 and was ranked 83rd overall among cornerbacks. Robinson, on the other hand, earned a PFF grade of 89.8 and was ranked sixth overall among cornerbacks. His four interceptions were his most since 2011, his second season for the Saints. His 11 passes defended and touchdown scored were his most since 2012, his third season for the Saints.Robinson was a solid tackler on his way to 42 solo, six assisted, and three tackles for loss. He even added one sack and a fumble recovery to boot. If P Rob’s play can be more like that with the 2017 Eagles than with the 2016 Colts, the Saints secondary could be one of the best in the league. If Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Williams continue to improve on their already strong career starts, it’s not unfathomable for the Saints to have three top ten starters at the cornerback and safety positions. No matter what, Saints fans should be more excited than ever for this position group. They are young, hungry, and more experienced. If this group can stay healthy, the sky is the limit.
