After the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night , Charger fans were likely celebrating long into the night (cough...cough...KYLE POSEY) after their improbable selection of Florida State safety Derwin James at #17.When the final seconds of the clock ticked away signaling the end of the third round on Friday night, the LA faithful were left with a much more sour taste in their mouth. After riding an enormous high into day 2, it feels as if most of the optimism going into day 3 stems from the old saying “we can only go up from here”.The selections of former USC linebacker Uchenna Nwosu and North Carolina State defensive tackle were definitely ones of need, but they, unfortunately, felt a tad bittersweet. To me, they were just the right players but at the wrong time.Obviously, time will tell with all of these prospects but that won’t stop me from being overly optimistic once again as the Chargers maneuver through rounds four through seven today. Here is a short list of targets I would like to see the Chargers consider on this final day of the NFL Draft:Kyle Fitts , EDGE, UtahFitts would be a local-area product that could make some sense in the fourth or fifth round after the Chargers recently rescinded the tender placed on DE Chris McCain. The 6-foot-4, 264-pound, Fitts was a Senior Bowl invite and most recently worked out for the Chargers at their local pro day before visiting with the team afterward.Tyrell Crosby, Offensive Tackle, OregonCrosby has been one of the most surprising prospects to see still available on the third day of the draft. As one of the better run maulers in this class, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Chargers invest in a player who could come in and start immediately at the right tackle position.Josey Jewell, Inside Linebacker , IowaNot an incredible athlete at the position but a phenomenal football player, nonetheless. One of only several linebackers in Iowa history to amass over 400 career tackles in his career. Jewell always seems to be around the ball and posted one of the best 3-cone drills at the combine at 6.80 seconds. Would battle for a starting middle linebacker position from day one.Kalen Ballage, Running Back, Arizona StateIt’s hard to feel super confident in Ballage as a potential starter in the NFL when he spent his time at Arizona State splitting carries with another back who isn’t getting much draft publicity at all. However, Ballage possesses elite size and speed for the position and has the versatility to be utilized as a third-down back or in the slot which will help keep defenses on their toes. If he learns to run with the pop of a 230-pound back, he could be a heck of a player in Anthony Lynn’s offense.Daurice Fountain, Wide Receiver, Northern IowaA big-bodied receiver that would have blown the doors off the combine if he were invited. After posting a 42-inch vertical jump and dominating the competition at the FCS level and at the East-West Shrine game , Fountain has checked off all of the boxes necessary to be considered a potential steal of the draft. Regardless of whether you believe the Chargers wide receiver room to be crowded or not, you can never have enough pass-catchers who can go up and come down with 50-50 balls.Top Ten Defensive Performances of 2017: #9 Chris McCain v. DEN #9.) Week 7 Chris McCain vs. Denver - 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 Forced FumblesChris McCain was a complete unknown going into the 2017 season. Fans knew he was a tall, lanky pass rusher who had spent some time with a few teams prior to joining the Bolts, but that was about it. After making the 53-man roster, he settled into a rotational role behind OLB/DE Melvin Ingram at the LEO position where it didn’t take long for him to start showing why he was worthy of his spot on the team. There is no question that McCain’s breakout game of the year came against the Denver Broncos in their second contest against the Bolts. This game also happened to be a historic shutout for the Chargers rising defense.Doing more than his fair share, McCain posted an impressive and efficient stat line that included four tackles , two of them being sacks with both of those causing the Broncos’ Trevor Siemian to cough up the ball. Overall, #40 made the most of his snaps that day and was constantly a handful for Denver’s tackles, including 2017 first-round pick Garret Bolles. On his first sack, McCain showed the world just how important it is for pass rushers to master “running the hoop” in practice. Lining up at the left defensive end position, he starts in a wide 9 outside ofthe tight end and takes a loooooong loop around the right tackle. As he begins to win around the edge, Siemian starts to his left but can’t outrun the lengthy EDGE player. The ball is popped free and it’s Chargers ball.Below you an find the replay for his second sack and forced fumble of the evening. After the Chargers rescinded their second-round tender on McCain earlier this year, heeventually signed with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency. The loss of McCain leaves a wide open spot and will definitely create some needed competition for the other pass rushers in hopes of being able to play third fiddle to Bosa and Ingram in 2018.

It’s football time New Orleans Saints Hoodie , folks, and we’re back again with the Interview with the Enemy series. Now the games actually count! This week, Gil Arcia of Bucs Nation answers 5 quick questions about the first regular season game for two NFC South rivals: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing off against the New Orleans Saints.***First things first: What are you expecting out of Ryan Fitzpatrick during Jameis Winston’s suspension?Who is the primary running back for the Buccaneers to start the season?Who is one player on the Bucs that Saints fans might not have heard of that you expect to make an impact on this game? You got a lot of flack on CSC for predicting the Bucs would go 11-5, even in spite of Winston’s suspension. Now’s your chance - care to renege, or are you sticking to your guns? What’s your prediction for the game? Final score? ***A big thanks to Gil for taking the time to answer our questions. Make sure you check out his work and the rest of the good folks at Bucs Nation for tons of Bucs content. You can follow Gil on Twitter @GilArciaBUCS, Bucs Nation @Bucs_Nation, and of course you can always follow me @dunnellz.Saints vs Giants: 5 quick observations The Saints won their third game in a row on the legs of Alvin Kamara and Wil Lutz, and some solid play from an offseason addition. Lutz stays ClutchWil Lutz has been the unsung hero of the season so far.He has gone 10 of 11 on his field goal attempts and has not missed an extra point all year. The fact that the Saints—in the Payton era— have a reliable, clutch kicker is something many never thought they would see. This will prove vital to winning close games down the stretch. On Sunday he was a perfect 4 of 4 on his field goals that counted and even added two that were nullified due to various reasons. We should feel confident knowing that if we need a field goal to win a game, Lutz will come through. Linebacker PlayDemario Davis had himself a day. He registered 11 tackles and 2 sacks and is looking like the missing piece in the middle of the defense we have been looking for since Jonathan Vilma retired. AJ Klein has put to rest some of the questions surrounding his play coming out of the preseason, as he has looked solid in his role through the first four games. Overall, the play of the front seven looks to be much improved from last season Cheap Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , as indicated by the rushing yards opposing teams have put up. The Saints currently sit at 4th in total rushing yards allowed per game with 79.5, and a lot of that has been due to the linebacker group.Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY SportsMr. Do EverythingThe third string quarterback/special team ace/wide receiver/kickoff returner has continued to impress every time he gets on the field. He would have thrown his first career passing touchdown if Kamara would have held on to a pass that showed nice touch and placement from Hill who was on the run. He did however pull off a 4th down conversion on a fake punt when he received the direct snap and hit Justin Hardee to pick up the first. With Mark Ingram missing, Hill has been the only significant rushing threat behind Kamara and his ability to run the Read-Option has opened things up for the offense in even more ways. And while Ingram may take away some of his touches, he should still have a few play calls designed around his unique skill set that Payton will use. Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsThe Dynamic DuoAK41 is unstoppable. Whatever the game plan calls for, he steps up. He was finally able to top the 100 yd mark notching 134 rushing yards while also adding 5 catches for 47 yards through the air. He leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 611 and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, even with Ingram set to return. Michael Thomas’ stats came back to Earth this week. His 4 receptions are the lowest amount he hauled in so far this year, but he was still effective when the ball was thrown his way. He caught 4 of his 5 targets for an 80% catch rate and now holds the record for most receptions through the first 4 games of a season. Thomas could be set up for a big game next week against Washington if cornerback Josh Norman isn't able to play due to a hamstring injury. Missed opportunitiesOn the final drive of the first half, two Saints players dropped potential touchdown passes. First, Kamara dropped a pass from third string quarterback Taysom Hill, and later veteran tight end Ben Watson couldn't hang on to a Drew Brees pass and dropped the ball as he hit the ground. Luckily this didn’t come back to haunt them, but against better teams getting just a field goal within the 20 yard line wont be enough for a win.

The Miami Dolphins already will be without their left tackle this week. Custom San Francisco Giants Jerseys . Now, there is a chance they also could be missing a second starting offensive lineman for Sundays game against the Los Angeles Rams.Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey?was sidelined for Thursdays practice after reinjuring his left hip.According to Dolphins coach Adam Gase, Pouncey pulled himself out of practice Wednesday after injuring the same hip that he had surgically repaired this offseason and caused him to miss the first four games of the regular season.Pounceys status is for Sunday is unknown. He ran into some issues with the hip again, Gase said. [Its the] same one and were going back through the evaluation, getting him with the doctors and things like that. We havent ruled him out for this week at all. So were still trying to figure out the exact details of issues and where were at with that. Thats kind of where were at with him right now.Gase added that its too soon to know if Pounceys ailment is a short-term or long-term injury. But Miami is working on contingency plans on the offensive line. If Pouncey cannot play, backup Anthony Steen is expected to fill in. Steen started the Dolphins first four games with Pouncey out.Miami also ruled out veteran left tackle Branden Albert earlier this week due to a dislocated wrist. Albert had surgery on his left wrist Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Hell be replaced by rookie Laremy Tunsil, who will move from left guard to left tackle against Los Angeles. Were going to shuffle some things around, Gase said. Were working a couple of different lineups right now. Well try to figure out whats the best way to go into this game with. Obviously we have a very big challenge this week with this group, and we just have to figure out whats the best lineup for us for this game. The Dolphins (5-4) have won four in a row in large part due to a stout offensive line and consistent running game. Alen Hanson Jersey .C. -- Rodney Hood connected from all over the court while freshman Jabari Parker was busy swatting shots and scoring in transition. Buster Posey Jersey . -- The St. Johns IceCaps weathered a wild first period with the help of goaltender Jussi Olkinuora, before finding offensive inroads in the second. . Los Angeles star goalie survived those perilous gymnastics with no problem, and he eventually backstopped the Kings to a skid-snapping win. Quick stopped 27 shots in his return from a 24-game injury absence, Jeff Carter scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:55 to play, and the Kings snapped their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee was dominant enough for one six-minute stretch to make up for any youthful mistakes it made the rest of the night.Robert Hubbs III scored 16 points to lead six Tennessee players in double figures Tuesday as the Volunteers capitalized on a 21-0 first-half spurt in a 103-94 victory over Appalachian State.Tennessee, which has seven true freshmen and one redshirt freshman on its roster, bounced back from a season-opening 82-69 home loss to Chattanooga and avoided its first 0-2 start since 1965-66.I cant imagine theres a younger team, Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said. I do think we did some things better from the first game, but we still, at times tonight, acted like the really young basketball team we are.The Vols (1-1) trailed 11-9 early before reeling off 21 straight points by feasting on Appalachian State turnovers. Jordan Bone and Grant Williams each scored five points during that 21-0 run, which culminated with a 3-pointer from Jordan Bowden.Tennessee led by as many as 26 points during a first half in which the Vols forced 15 turnovers.I think we missed some easy ones and I think they ramped up their pressure, Appalachian State coach Jim Fox said. It slowed us down. Our guys were making uncharacteristic mistakes. If we passed the ball up, we caught the ball right by halfcourt so they trapped us. We were really tentative with things that we did. Credit them. They did a great job. Theyre tremendously athletic. The Vols werent quite as effective the rest of the way. Appalachian State (0-2) got the margin all the way down to seven with 58 seconds left but couldnt get any closer.Tennessee won with a balanced scoring attack.Lamonte Turner scored 15 points, Bowden had 14. Kyle Alexander and Williams each had 13 and Shembari Phillips added 11 for Tennessee.I feel like everybody on our team can score the ball, Bowden said. Everybody gives the ball and is not really selfish on offense.Ronshad Shabazz and Patrick Good each scored 21 for Appalachian State. Griffin Kinney had 13 points and Kelvin Robinson added 12. Johnny Cueto Jersey. THE TAKEAWAYAppalachian State: The Mountaineers inability to take care of the ball in the first half proved costly. Appalachian State had 15 turnovers in the first half. Tennessee outscored Appalachian State 22-8 in first-half points off turnovers. The Mountaineers deserve some credit for chipping away at the deficit rather hanging their heads once they trailed by 26.Tennessee: The Vols corrected many of the mistakes theyd made in their loss to Chattanooga. Tennessee shot 1 of 16 from 3-point range and had 18 turnovers and four assists against Chattanooga. The Vols were 8-of-19 on 3-pointers and had 26 assists and 12 turnovers Tuesday. Bone, who had just one assist in the Chattanooga game, had eight assists and two turnovers against Appalachian State.LINEUP CHANGEBarnes responded to Tennessees season-opening loss by having Bowden and Phillips replace Admiral Schofield and Detrick Mostella in the starting lineup.Bowden had played just six minutes in the Chattanooga game, but the freshman guard shot 4 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 14 points Tuesday. We started (Bowden) because he earned it, to be quite frank, Barnes said. The other night, the reason we switched the lineup a little bit is some of those guys that started (against Chattanooga) didnt do the things that we wanted them to do defensively.REDSHIRT DUOBarnes said he is planning on redshirting freshman guard Jalen Johnson and freshman walk-on Jacob Fleschman.INJURY UPDATETennessee guard Kwe Parker missed a second straight game while wearing a walking boot on his left foot.NEXT UPAppalachian State hosts Warren Wilson College on Thursday.Tennessee faces Wisconsin on Monday in the first round of the Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Maui.---More AP College Basketball: Steve Megargee at Cheap Soccer Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Hockey Jerseys Nike NFL Jerseys China Cheap Nike MLB Jerseys China Wholesale Baseball Jerseys China Wholesale College Jerseys Cheap Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Near Me Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Soccer Jerseys China Cheap NCAA Jerseys Authentic Cheap Nike NBA Jerseys Cheap NHL Jerseys Authentic MLB Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Throwback Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

Port Adelaide vice-captain Hamish Hartlett will decide within a fortnight whether to stay at the AFL club after being mooted as trade bait. Kemoko Turay Jersey .Hartlett, who has four years to run on a contract with the Power, confronted club hierarchy after hearing rumours he was being shopped to rival clubs. He was disappointed when he heard the speculation, Hartletts manager Michael Doughty told Adelaide radio station 5AA at the weekend. To his credit, he went and confronted the club about it and they said in no uncertain terms that they hadnt spoken to anyone.Nothing has been tabled. Port hasnt gone to the market and neither have we, so Hamish is going to have a couple of weeks to digest it all.Port questioned Hartlett whether the club was the right place for the 127-game utility to achieve his potential. They have just asked if he thinks he can get the best out of himself at Port Adelaide, Doughty said.... They have got to make some changes on their list. They are just seeing what they can and what they cant do.Theyre not pushing Hamish out the door and if he wants to stay, hell stay at the Port Adelaide Football Club and theyll be happy with that.Doughty had given the 26-year-old a fortnight to decide his playing future.Hamish at his best is probably in the top five at Port Adelaide but hasnt quite hit those straps in the past few years, he said. There is a lot of speculation about he is going to be shifted and Port are ... going to be pretty aggressive in trade week.So he will be one of many names that I guess get bandied around which is part of the modern game and players have got to learn to deal with it. SANTA CLARA, Calif. Jeremy Jeffress Jersey . -- Carlos Hyde outran the more heralded Todd Gurley, San Franciscos defensive front proved more fearsome than Los Angeles line and the resumption of the all-California NFC West rivalry after a more than 21-year wait proved to be decidedly one-sided.Hyde ran for 88 yards and two scores and the 49ers defense did the rest, shutting down Gurley and the Rams running game in a 28-0 victory that spoiled the first NFL game for a Los Angeles-based team since 1994.That wasnt what we expected, certainly not what I expected for the first game back in L.A., coach Jeff Fisher said. We have some work to do obviously.Shaun Draughn also ran for a score and Blaine Gabbert threw a touchdown pass to Vance McDonald to help the 49ers win their first game under coach Chip Kelly in convincing fashion.Case Keenum threw for just 130 yards with two interceptions, Gurley was held to 47 yards on 17 carries and the Rams barely even threatened the Niners as they were held to 185 yards and 10 first downs all game. The defense had to carry the weight this week, and I think we did that, said linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who had an interception. Todd Gurley is looked at as one of the best running backs in the league, and we took that personally tonight. Here are some other takeaways from the game:GOFF WAITS: Despite the struggles by Keenum, who was frequently off-target and struggled to get the ball down field at all, Fisher is not ready to turn the offense over to No. 1 overall draft pick Jared Goff. The Rams traded a boat load of draft picks to acquire Goff in the spring but made him inactive as the third-stringer in the opener .This doesnt change anything as far as the quarterbacks are concerned, Fisher said.EFFICIENT GABBERT: Kelly picked Gabbert as his starting quarterback over Colin Kaepernick in part because of his consistency through the offseason. Thats basically how Gabbert played in the opener, avoiding the big mistakes with no turnovers or sacks but making few big plays with only one completion that went for more than 20 yards. Gabbert finished 22 for 35 for 170 yards and the TD.He was very efficient with the ball, Kelly said. He did not turn the ball over and did not put the ball in harms way. He did some good things in critical situations and got a lot of different guys involved in the passing game.LOST COMPOSURE: Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald was ejected in the fourth quarter when he made contact with an official. The infraction came after Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree gave an extra push to Gabbert following a scramble. As players on both teams started jawing, Donald pushed a 49ers player and then made contact with an official. Donald was called for two personal fouls on the play and ejected.I let my emotions get the best of me, Donald said. No excuses.SMALL-PLAY AUSTIN: The Rams gave receiver Tavon Austin a contract extension worth a reported $42 million this summer because of his ability to make big plays. Those were lacking against the Niners. Austin touched the ball five times on offense for just 15 yards. He caught four of the 12 passes thrown his way for 13 yards and added 2 more on an end-around. His biggest play of the night was a 28-yard punt return .We have to stretch the field, he said. We need to keep doing what we were doing. We were open a lot out there today. We just couldnt connect. Thats the main thing. Well connect on it.PUNT PARTY: For much of the game, the punters had as much impact as any other players. Los Angeles Johnny Hekker and San Franciscos Bradley Pinion combined for 17 punts, including seven in an offensively inept third quarter that featured 48 yards, three first downs and one turnover.---Online:AP NFL website: and Yovani Gallardo Jersey . Note: The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday that Sean Monahan would not be made available to Canadas World Junior team. Ryan Braun Jersey . Ferrer, trying to win his fourth title on Mexican soil, will next play South Africas Kevin Anderson, who eliminated American Sam Querrey,7-6 (2), 6-4. Also Wednesday, Gilles Simon (6) of France beat Donald Young of the United States 6-4, 6-3, Ukraines Alexandr Dolgopolov downed Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-4 and Croatias Ivo Karlovic defeated Dudi Sela of Israel 7-6 (4), 6-2. . It was hard for Luck to pull off another comeback, or even get into the end zone, while standing on the sideline. Rivers threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to rookie Keenan Allen and Nick Novak kicked four field goals to give the Chargers a 19-9 victory against the Colts on Monday night. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays believe they have a star in the making in Wil Myers. The rookie homered in his home debut Monday night, continuing an impressive first week in the majors and helping Jeremy Hellickson beat the Blue Jays 4-1 to end Torontos 11-game winning streak. "Hes very comfortable," Rays manager Joe Maddon said about Myers. "Hes not overwhelmed whatsoever." Myers made his major league debut in Boston at the start of a seven-game road trip that ended Sunday. He hit a grand slam off CC Sabathia for his first big league homer during a loss Saturday at Yankee Stadium. This time, the 22-year-old outfielder hit the second of three straight Tampa Bay homers in the second inning, connecting in his first at-bat at Tropicana Field. Myers, whos hitting .294 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs after eight games, received a standing ovation and took a curtain call for a crowd of 11,407 getting its initial close-up view of the key acquisition in the off-season trade that sent pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis to Kansas City for the power-hitting right fielder and other prospects. "I wasnt sure what really to do but everyone kept cheering so I thought that might be my cue to go out there," Myers said. "Actually, I saw that Zoilo Almonte guy get one (in New York) and everyone got up and kept cheering, so I thought it was the same deal for me." Myers drive to centre off Esmil Rogers (3-3) was sandwiched between home runs by James Loney and Sam Fuld as Tampa Bay went deep three times in a span of eight pitches. Luke Scott added a bloop RBI double to make it 4-0 in the third, and that was all the support Hellickson needed. The Rays estimated the ball Myers hit, which caromed off a wall beyond centre field, travelled 422 feet before bouncing back onto the field. "The ball comes off the bat hard with him. It makes a different sound," Maddon said. "Hes one of those guys. And the thing that I like is all this stuff is going through the middle of the field." A night after scoring a season-high 13 runs at home to complete a three-game sweep of Baltimore, the Blue Jays were limited to four singles and five walks. They came up short in their bid to extend the longest winning streak in the majors since Detroit won 12 straight in 2011. Hellickson (6-3) gave up J.P. Arencibias single, walked four and struck out four. He allowed only one runner past first base -- in the second inning, when Colby Rasmus walked and moved to third when Arencibia followed with his hit to centre field. The Blue Jays stranded Rasmus, who drew three of Torontos five walks, when Maicer Izturis grounded into an inning-endingg double play. Travis Shaw Jersey. Toronto finally broke through in the eighth when it loaded the bases with one out against Alex Torres with a pair of singles and a walk. Jose Bautista grounded into a force play to drive in a run before Edwin Encarnacion flied out to end the threat. Fernando Rodney worked the ninth for the Rays, earning his 16th save in 21 opportunities. "The three home runs hurt ... but their pitching shut us down. That was the story of the game," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "It was a nice little streak. Well start another one tomorrow. Losses are never easy, but weve been on a nice little roll." The Blue Jays longest winning streak in nearly 15 years matched the best in club history. They also won 11 straight in 1987 and 1998. The Rays began the day last in the AL East, one percentage point behind the surging Blue Jays, who gained seven games on Tampa Bay during their winning streak. Despite the loss, Toronto has won 15 of 19 while outscoring opponents 103-57 to get back into the division race led by the Boston Red Sox. Loney, Myers and Fuld went deep off Rogers with one out in the second, just the second time in franchise history -- first at Tropicana Field -- that Tampa Bay has hit three straight homers. Evan Longoria, Willy Aybar and Dioner Navarro did it on June 9, 2008, against the Angels. Myers also had a single and was caught trying to steal second base in the sixth inning. Hes 10 for 34 overall since being promoted from Triple-A Durham and is the first player in Rays history with seven RBIs in his first eight career games. "Hes got it all. Hes got a chance to be a really, really good player," Gibbons said. "Its all in there." NOTES: Toronto plans to activate SS Jose Reyes (left ankle) from the disabled list Wednesday. ... Blue Jays LHP J.A. Happ, who suffered a skull fracture and a sprained right knee when he fell to the ground at Tropicana Field after being struck behind the left ear by a line drive on May 7, is expected back at the ballpark Tuesday. Gibbons said Happ, slowed by the knee injury, is throwing off a mound at the teams spring training complex in Dunedin, Fla., but still has a ways to go before he pitches again. ... In preparation for his home debut, the Rays had Myers out on the field early to take fly balls in the domed stadium with the lights on and off. ... Blue Jays RHP Brandon Morrow (forearm) has not resumed throwing, while 3B Brett Lawrie (left ankle) is probably a couple of weeks from starting a rehab assignment. ... Rays LHP David Price, sidelined since May 15 by a left triceps strain, is scheduled to make his second rehab start for Class-A Charlotte on Wednesday. LOUISVILLE, Ky. John Tavares Jersey . -- Louisville overpowered Lafayette early, allowing the fifth-ranked Cardinals to do some fine-tuning.Sam Fuehring scored 13 points to help No. 5 Louisville cruise to a 92-48 victory over Lafayette on Sunday in the second day of the Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge. The Cardinals (5-0) scored the first 14 points and led 20 in the first quarter. The Leopards (1-4) missed eight of their first nine shots and committed nine turnovers in the first 10 minutes. All 13 healthy Cardinals got on the court and either had a point or an assist. It doesnt matter who we give the ball to, junior Mariya Moore said. Anyone on our team can score.Fuehring was perfect from the floor on six shots to finish a point off her career high of 14. She is seeing more time this season as Cortnee Walton, a starter and the teams second-leading rebounder last season, has been sidelined because of a right arm injury. Fuehring said coach Jeff Walz has asked her to step into the seniors role as a rebounder and defender for the time being.Of course getting minutes is what I want, but Im trying to really work on my defense and just know its not all about scoring, the 6-foot-3 forward said. Its part of Walz effort to make his players more coachable and not just seek out scoring opportunities. The ones who do what he asks them to do, he said, will be in line for more playing time. Then, if youre in the game, you got a chance to score, Walz said. Thats something new that a few of them dont understand. On the bench, its hard to score.Asia Durr added 13 for Louisville, which also got 12 from Moore and 11 from Briahanna Jackson. Forward Myisha Hines-Allen added 14 rebounds and a team-high five assists.Lafayette shot just 21.2 percent in the first half, and the Leopards were outrebounded by Louisville 62-28.Olivia Gumbs and Ashley Lutz both led Lafayette with nine points. The Leopards starters combined to score just 11 points total.BIG PICTURELouisville: This was the kind of game where Louisville coach Jeff Walz envisioned getting significant playing time for his freshmen and reserves, and as the Cardinals extended the lead to 46 by the third period, he could do just that. Only one starter, Durr, played more than 20 minutesLafayette: Sunday marked the fourth straight double-digit loss for the Leopards. In each of those games they trailed by at least 20 points at some point in the contest.STAT OF THE NIGHTWhen Louisville held Lafayette to just seven points in the first quarter, it marked the fourth time already this season that the Cardinals have held an opponent to less than 10 points in a quarter. For the third time, it took place in the opening period.LETDOWNWhile Louisville dominated, Walz still saw room for improvement. For example, while the Cardinals grabbed 28 offensive rebounds, they only turned those into 26 points. He said he wants his team to average about 1.5 points per offensive board.POLL IMPLICATIONSLouisville did exactly what it was supposed to do against an overmatched opponent and did nothing that would shake voters confidence in the teams current ranking.UP NEXTLouisville hosts Chattanooga Monday night.Lafayette plays Bowling Green on Monday in Louisville. Baylor placed two returning 1,000-yard rushers on the list, senior Shock Linwood and junior JJohnny Jefferson. Richard Kaufman celebrates a breakthrough win for Li Hao Tong which he believes will go a long way towards helping Chinese golfers make their mark on the world stage. Custom Colorado Avalanche Jerseys . China is a bit of a paradox when it comes to golf, but the last two weeks suggest the future is bright. A country that has come late to the game because of political ideology, there has been a hesitancy to really embrace golf because of its perceived image as a sport for the rich. Li showed plenty of bravado in his national open Until recently, the Communist Party had banned its members from joining golf clubs and playing the game, while courses that were built over the last decade were reclaimed. Thankfully, it seems there has been a U-turn and the ban has been lifted. I say thankfully because, whether you like it or not, the worlds largest population is an important region for the growth of the game and, while the number of participants may yet reach large proportions of society and Chinese players have not yet made a mark on the game en masse, that will change in time. Lis win can inspire a new generation of Chinese golfers There have been Chinese winners that have come to the fore previously, of course. Zhang Lian Wei was the first to make an international awareness, and Shanshan Feng is a major champion in the womens game. But until Sunday afternoon, there hadnt been a young male star in the making, and Li Hao Tong will not be the last. His victory showed, not for the first time in his young career, a player who is exciting and bold. We had seen it already in the events in China last year when he lost out in a play-off in the Shenzhen International and became the first Chinese player to finish in the top 10 of a WGC event at the HSBC Champions. Highlights of day four from the Volvo China Open in Beijing His play at the weekend was a fine example of attacking expertise. He dared to drive the par-four seventh, and he had a pop at the other short par-fours on the course too. He birdied the hardest hole on the course, the 71st hole of the championship, with a stunning approach. And all of this under the pressure of playing in his national open.Li is just 20-years-old and he is determined to make it on to the PGA Tour, but I hope this win entices him to step on the fairways at Wentworth and elsewhere around Europe. It would be huge for the European Tour and good for his game. Why carry on playing on the Tour when he can play higher-quality events with top-class fields? Shanshan Feng is a major champion in the womens game Ultimately, this is his prerogative. His win will be an inspiration to the generation that are coming through just behind, and there are plenty of emerging talents. Darren Clarke played with a 17-year-old at the Thailand Golf Championships at the end of 2015, and the Ryder Cup captain said Jin Cheng was the best player he has seen at that age since Rory McIlroy. This week, Im off to the continent of Africa. Morocco is not only the next destination for the European Tour but also for the Ladies European Tour, and youll be able to watch both the Trophee Hasson II and the Lalla Meryem Cup this weekend on Sky Sports. Gwladys Nocera and Richie Ramsay were the victors in Morocco last year Ill be with the ladies with both events coming from different courses at the same venue. In an Olympic year, with the same happening in Rio, I think its a great idea. As I mentioned last week, Id love to see an Olympic format that mixes the teams with the best males playing with the best females in competition. But having events running concurrently is a positive way of embracing the ladies games. It happens in tennis, so why not in golf? We saw the male and female US Opens being played at Pinehurst in successive weeks in 2014, and there is a new collaboration between the LPGA and PGA Tours. So this week in Morocco may not be a one-off. Also See: Li storms to China title Shin wins in Texas Golf live on Sky Sports 4 European Tour Schedule A.J. Greer Jersey . In the lead up - which seemed to begin the moment Mike Geiger blew the whistle in Houston last Thursday night - the Impact rumour mill went into overdrive. The speculation went into meltdown mode, of the golden nugget variety. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Dance parties. Dark chocolate. Calls to mom.All are helping Missy Franklin cope with an Olympics gone wrong.A huge star at the London Games four years ago, Franklin was one of the biggest U.S. disappointments in Rio de Janeiro -- an inexplicable fall shes at a loss to explain.I really wish I could tell you, Franklin said Thursday, not long before her final race. In my mind, I made the hardest sacrifices Ive ever had to make this year. Ive poured myself into this every single day for the whole year and the three years leading up to that. For whatever reason, its just not happening at this meet.Franklins last event epitomized her struggles. In the 200-meter backstroke, an event she won at London, Franklin finished next-to-last in her semifinal heat with the 14th-ranked time overall, 2 minutes, 9.74 seconds. That was nearly 3 seconds slower than her semifinal time at the 2012 Games -- and more than 5 1/2 seconds off her gold medal-winning performance. This has been by far the hardest week of my entire life, Franklin said, her voice breaking and tears in her eyes. Theres definitely a bit of relief that it is over.As a high school senior-to-be, Franklin competed in a staggering seven events in 2012, winning four gold medals and a bronze. She became only the second American woman, after Amy Van Dyken, to capture four golds at a single Olympics. But, following two years swimming collegiately at California and then turning pro last summer, Franklin hasnt been able to recapture the form that made her one of the most-hyped -- and heavily sponsored -- U.S. athletes heading into the Rio Olympics. She struggled at the U.S. trials, qualifying for the team in only two individual events, both with runner-up finishes. In Rio, she didnt make the final of either event, also getting knocked out in the semifinals of the 200 freestyle. Given her form, the coaches only picked her to swim the preliminary of the 4x200 free relay, a decision that would have seemed unfathomable just a few months ago but didnt meet with any protest from Franklin.I was absolutely fine with it, Franklin said. They 100 percent made the right decision. The 21-year-old still earned a gold medal -- the fifth of her career -- when a Katie Ledecky-led squad swept to victory in the relay final. That did little to ease the sting for Franklin.Shes ready to go home to Colorado.Right now, my future is not warming down and eating a Popsicle tonight, she said, recapturing her omnipresent smile. Thats just about all Im thinking about. Its been a really hard year for me. Its going to take some time for me to recover from it and thats what I pplan on doing. Lanny McDonald Jersey. Spending some quality time with family and just getting back on my feet and making sure that I keep a smile on my face the whole time.To her credit, Franklin showed that her bubbly, accommodating personality was no facade. She never skipped out on a session with reporters in the mixed zone, even when she knew what the questions would be. Instead of avoiding the media, she was always gracious and forthcoming.Franklin has coped with her struggles by leaning heavily on her religious faith. My faith in God is really getting me through, she said. I know that hes going to make something beautiful out of this, hes going to transform me and my life into doing something from all of this. I have no clue what that is. I wish I could ask him what hes going to do.Her teammates did all they could to help.I just throw a couple of random dance parties. I take some really, really horrendous Snapchats of her, Cierra Runge said. Whatever I can do to make her laugh. Those Dove chocolate candies with the inspirational messages on the wrapper help, too.One of the verses really stuck with Franklin.Every day is an opportunity to change things for the better, she recounted. That was a good reminder that regardless of how things have been going, how Ive been feeling, every day is a new opportunity. And, of course, she can always turn to her family.Youre never too old to call your mom and cry and ask her for advice, Franklin said. Its going to be OK. Im loved. Im supported. When you put things in perspective, if a disappointing meet is the worst thing that happens in my life, then I have a pretty damn good life.Franklin will return to Cal in the fall to resume her studies, but she made clear that her swimming career isnt over.It doesnt mean Im anywhere close to being done with this sport, she said. Ive got so much left to give to this sport, to my fans, to the people whove been supporting me.If theres a bright side, Franklin has learned just how much shes really loved.Yeah, its a disappointment. But the support Ive received has shown me so much more than I ever couldve expected, she said. Youre so much more than the number of medals you have, youre so much more than the time you spend in the pool, your value goes so beyond all of that. I dont think I ever wouldve come to that realization without going through something like this.---Follow Paul Newberry on Twitter at . His work can be found at . The Toronto Maple Leafs surprised many by making the Stanley Cup playoffs this season. Christian Folin Jersey . They have also impressed many more with their efforts against Boston in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series that now stands at 3-2 in favour of the Bruins, after Torontos 2-1 victory in Game 5 on Friday. One of those who has been impressed is Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky spoke with TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of on Saturday and offered his thoughts on the Maple Leafs, the team he watched growing up in Brantford, Ontario. "Theyre up against a really good opponent, a team thats just two years removed from winning the Cup, but any time you can win a Game 5 in that situation against a team of that caliber, obviously youve got character and it builds even more character," Gretzky told LeBrun. "Theyre legit. Theyre playing on high-emotion right now." Gretzky was quick to point out that much of the credit for the Leafs play of late should go to head coach Randy Carlyle and his system. "Its about believing in your system. The system starts with the head coach," added Gretzky. "Hes got tremendous credibility after winning a Stanley Cup himself [2007 in Anaheim]. Its not a question of players saying, Are we sure he knows what hes doing? Because theyre absolutely positive he knows what hes doing. The credibility starts right there with the coach." Gretzky also singled out goaltender James Reimer for his play throughout the season and into the post-season. "There was so much talk throughout the hockey world wondering if their goaltending was strong enough to get through the season and get into the playoffs," Gretzky told LeBrun. "I think their goaltender has answered that question extremely well." Win or lose, Gretzky feels this series will go a long way to improving the long-term outlook of the Leafs, a team that had not made the playoffs in nine years before this season. "You know, theyre still young and theyre still learning," said Gretzky. "This is how you learn, by getting a chance to play in big games like this. Game 5 in Boston was probably one of the biggest games those kids have played in for a long time. From that point of view, its just going to help their maturity and their growth a lot quicker. One game after a miserable showing in Oklahoma City, Gay tied a career high with 41 points and the Sacramento Kings cruised to a 114-97 victory at the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Even with two road points secure, Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien was far from happy Saturday night. This wasnt a game I was accustomed to the last week or so, Julien said after Bostons 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes. We cant be satisfied with just two points. We have to be able to play better. We looked like a team that thought it would be an easy night.David Pastrnak got his team-leading 10th goal, Ryan Spooner also scored and Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots for the Bruins, who have won three of their last four overall and nine straight against Arizona.Boston has not lost to the Coyotes since Oct. 9, 2010, during a season-opening series in Prague.Radim Vrbata scored a power-play goal and Louis Domingue made 27 saves for the Coyotes, who have lost two straight and three of their past four. Its a game of inches and right now were just a little bit behind, Domingue said. Weve got to start with ourselves, look in the mirror and know we can do better. Were last in the league -- were not there now, but weve been there a long time. Weve just got to find common ground and work as a team.Boston dominated play in the first period, generating multiple scoring chances off Coyotes turnovers but failing to score. The Bruins finally broke through to lead 1-0 at 7:54 of the second. David Backes passed from behind the net to Zdeno Chara just above the circles, and Spooner redirected his shot past Domingue for his third goal.Hes got a bomb, Spooner said. I was kind of scared standing there but Im glad it went into the back of the net.Pastrnak made it 2-0 just under two minutes later, taking a pass from Brad Marchand off the right boards and beating Domingue from the top of the righht circle. Marty Mcsorley Jersey. Pastrnak is tied for second in the league in goals, trailing only Winnipeg rookie Patrik Laine.Marchand had a chance to extend the lead further with 5:27 left in the period but was stopped on a partial breakaway by a Domingue pad save.Vrbata cut the Bruins lead to 2-1 with 7:55 left, firing a shot from the left that bounced off the left post, into Rasks body and back into the net.Arizona mustered only a handful of scoring chances during the first two periods. The Coyotes best chance came early in the second period when Max Domi took control of a rebound in the low slot and pushed the puck flush against the left post before it was cleared. Our execution was just poor, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. We turned over a lot of pucks and brought some problems on ourselves. We pushed in the third but it wasnt enough.Game notes Vrbata has five points in his last four games. CLEVELAND -- The last time the Cleveland Indians won the World Series, Dewey led Truman in the polls. Cody Whitehair Jersey . The Chicago Cubs last title was 13 days after the first Ford Model T car was completed.Lovable losers known for decades of defeat meet in this years championship, a combined 174 seasons of futility facing off starting Tuesday night at Progressive Field.Clevelands last title was in 1948, when 16 teams from the East Coast to St. Louis competed in a just-integrated sport. The Cubs are trying to win for the first time since 1908 , a dead ball-era matchup at a time home runs were rarities along with telephones. No player is alive from the last championship Cubs or even the last to make a Series appearance -- Tuesday marks the 25,948th day since the Cubs Game 7 loss to Detroit in 1945. One player remains from the 1948 Indians, 95-year-old Eddie Robinson. It seems like its just forever, Robinson said Monday from his home in Fort Worth, Texas. When we got home from Boston, there was a monumental parade. It just looked like everybody in Cleveland came out on Euclid Avenue. One teams fans will let loose with the celebration of a lifetime. But while history weighs on the supporters, Cubs manager Joe Maddon focuses his players with a now-centered battle cry of Win the Inning!Air conditioning is popular right now. So is color TV, he said. Youve just got to change with the times. Both teams worked out under cloudy skies as the new 59-by-221-foot scoreboard behind the left-field seats -- the largest in the major leagues -- trumpeted the Sisyphean matchup. While the Cubs play in Wrigley Field, the 102-year-old brick-and-ivy jewel on Chicagos North Side, the Indians are in a 22-year-old throwback-style ballpark originally called Jacobs Field.Led by Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, the Cubs led the major leagues with 103 wins during the regular season, then beat San Francisco and Los Angeles in the playoffs. But since the playoffs expanded in 1995, only four teams with the best regular-season record won the title: the 1998 and 2009 New York Yankees, and the 2007 and 2013 Boston Red Sox.I promise you, our guys are going to be in the present tense, Maddon said. I think we all have a tremendous amount of respect for history and whats happened before us or not happened before us. But, you know, you go in that room right now, theyre very young. Really not impacted by a lot of the lore.Jon Lester, 7-1 in his career against Cleveland, starts for the Cubs and Corey Kluber opens for the Indians. Lester is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in three postseason starts this year and 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA in a trio of Series outings. He learned to prepare from watching Curt Schilling and Josh Beckett in Boston. They prepared the same way for this start as they would for a regular start during the season, he said.Kluber pitched shutout ball twice in the playoffs before allowing two runs in five innings in Game 4 at Toronto. His father, Jim, was born in Cleveland and rooted for the Indians growing up in suburban Highland Heights.I think every parent is excited if their kid has a chance to play in the World Series, said the 30-year-old right-hander, who could win his second AL Cy Young Award in three years. Both teams were dealing with injuries that caused changes in planning. Indians manager Terry Francona, juggling all year because of health mishaps, said right-hander Danny Salazar will be on the World Series roster, which must be submitted Tuesday morning. Salazar has not pitched since Sept. 9 because of forearm tightness but threw a simulated game Sunday.Nothings official, so if we have another drone incident or anything with model airplanes or anything, we reserve the right to change, he said, a reference to the injury that limited pitcher Trevor Bauer to two-thirds of an inning in the AL Championship Series.Chicago appeared likely to include outfielder Kyle Schwarber, out since tearing knee ligaments on April 8. A person with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Monday that Schwarber was traveling to Cleveland, but the person did not know yet if the slugger would be on the roster. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the roster wont be announced until Tuesday.Schwarber returned to action last weekend in the Arizona Fall League.Reports are good, Maddon said. Hes swinging the bat well. Hes running really well.Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis was dealing with a sprained left ankle, hurt when he jumped and shortstop Francisco Lindor accidentally stepped on his foot while celebrating the last out of the ALCS.He might not be 100 percent, but I dont think its going to get in the way, Francona said.Cleveland fell three outs short of the 1997 title when Jose Mesa blew a one-run lead in the ninth inning of Game 7 at Florida and an error by second baseman Tony Fernandez led to the Marlins winning run in the 11th.The Series starts just after a ceremony across the street when LeBron James and the Cavaliers receive championship rings before their opener celebrating this years NBA title, the first for Clevelands big league teams since the NFLs Browns in 1964.Its a pretty neat set of circumstances, said Indians reliever Andrew Miller, the ALCS MVP. Obviously the fans wish they had won quite a bit previously, but I think the Cubs are even going to overshadow us in that history. While Chicago has many famous fans, among them actor Bill Murray and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Cleveland is rooted on by Tom Hanks and Drew Carey. And the Indians losing history received nationwide attention in the 1989 film Major League, featuring Charlie Sheen as Ricky Wild Thing Vaughn.Maddon prepared for the Series while watching some baseball movies, 42 -- we had to beat the Dodgers before I could watch it -- and Field of Dreams.Im that guy, he said. SHANGHAI -- Hideki Matsuyama arrived at the HSBC Champions as the first Japanese player in nearly two decades to reach the top 10 in the world ranking. His 19 birdies over 36 holes in biting chill and swirling wind helped explain how he got there.Even as the weather shifted dramatically Friday at Sheshan International, Matsuyama kept piling up the birdies. One last birdie on the par-5 18th gave him a 7-under 65 and a three-shot lead going into the weekend of the final World Golf Championships event of the year.Matsuyama was at 13-under 131 and led by three shots over defending champion Russell Knox (68) and Bill Haas (67). He shouldnt have been surprised by the result because it was his eighth consecutive score in the 60s dating to the second round of the Tour Championship.Rain the last two days gave way to a strong wind when Matsuyama was warming up, and the wind made the sharp dip of temperatures into the 50s feel even worse.Fifteen players still managed to break 70 because of the rain-softened greens, and while Matsuyamas 65 was the best score of the second round, making it even more impressive was that he also had two bogeys. On Thursday, he had 10 birdies against four bogeys.Matsuyama already is having his biggest year since he began playing regularly round the world in 2014. He overcame a two-shot deficit over the last two holes and beat Rickie Fowler in the Phoenix Open. He had another top 10 in the Masters. CARMEL, Ind. Kailer Yamamoto Jersey . -- Dustin Johnson walked down a corridor of fans, trying to touch the dozens of outstretched hands on both sides until he extended both arms into a massive wing span to accommodate as many as he could. It seemed everyone wanted a piece of him at Crooked Stick.Just as long as they didnt have to play against him.The BMW Championship might have been his most complete performance of what already has been a big year. Johnson was powerful as ever off the tee, shaping shots in both directions. His new putter helped him get the ball started on the right line and he was pouring them in.He led the field in driving. He was second in putting. How do you beat that?Paul Casey sure didnt have an answer. That was something special the last two days, said Casey, who shot 68-67 on the weekend and didnt make up any ground. I did everything I could.Johnson was playing at such a high level that when Casey holed a 25-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole to get within one shot, he knew Johnson was going to make his eagle putt from 18 feet to match him. And he did. When it was over, Johnson had a 5-under 67, a three-shot victory, the No. 1 seed in the FedEx Cup and no time to really reflect on what kind of year he is having. It was his third victory in his last eight starts dating to the U.S. Open at Oakmont for that breakthrough major. In 22 starts this season, he has 14 finishes in the top 10.He was asked to describe a summer in which he has won a major (U.S. Open), World Golf Championship (Bridgestone Invitational) and a FedEx Cup playoff event (BMW Championship). Tiger Woods in 2007 was the last player to do that. Its pretty good, Johnson said. His peers on the PGA Tour will be asked to judge him in a few weeks when they receive their ballots for player of the year, and the 32-year-old Johnson might have sealed it with the way he won at Crooked Stick. He tied Jason Day with his third victory this season, the difference being Johnson won a major. He went to the top of the money list at just over $9 million. He might have wrapped up the Vardon Trophy for the lowest adjusted scoring average, particularly when Day was made ineligible by withdrawing in the middle of the final round at Crooked Stick with back pain.Is it a fair fight? Johnson smiled at the question. Its golf, he said. Its always a fair fight. Anything can happen. It doesnt matter how good youre playing, theres always something that can happen. I would know. Something can happen. Believe me -- whether you want it to or not, it can.He should know. There was the 82 he shot in the final round at Pebble Beach when he had a three-shot lead in the 2010 U.S. Open. He was kept out of a playoff in the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in 2010 for grounding his club in sand on the final hole without realizing it was a bunker. At the U.S. Open last year at Chambers Bay, his ball for reasons unknown stayed up on a ridge, and his 12-foot eagle putt for the victory turning to a three-putt par to finish one shot behind Jordan Spieth.Even as everything seemed to go wrong, Johnson kept winning. He has won at least one PGA Tour event every season since he went straight from Coastal Carolina to PGA Tour qualifying school to winning in 2008. He now has 12 victories on the PGA Tour over the last nine years, a total topped only by Tiger Woods.Spieth spends plenty of time around Johnso-n, even though they would appear to be nothing alike. They play together in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. They were partners in the Presidents Cup, and likely will be again in the Ryder Cup at the end of the month. He thinks simply, which helps in his golf game, Spieth said. He has a lot of confidence in what hes doing. Bad stuff doesnt seem to bother him. You couldnt ever get under his skin, because DJ would just laugh it off.Johnson remains No. 2 in the world behind Day, and he likely will not make up any more ground the rest of the year because hell only play a couple more events.Ive still got to go out and play some really good golf, Johnson said. I dont think about, `Oh, I need to get to No. 1. Ive just got to go out and just keep winning and keep having a chance to win on Sunday. Thats the goal for me. Just focus on that. Ty Rattie Jersey . TORONTO -- A pumped-up Dana White headed to the gym Monday morning and started planning Silva-Weidman 2. Jeff Mathis Jersey . "It will be the biggest fight weve ever done in the UFC," the UFC president told The Canadian Press from Las Vegas. Biggest because Chris (The All-American) Weidman upset Anderson Silva on Saturday night in Las Vegas. And because of the manner in which the longtime middleweight champion and MMA icon was dethroned. The 38-year-old Silva, who had won all his of 16 previous UFC fights, clowned his way to a loss. As he had done in other recent bouts, he dropped his hands and egged his opponent to hit him. In the past, Silvas reflexes had kept him out of harms way. But this time he got clocked in the second round and went down. Referee Herb Dean stepped in after Weidman got in a flurry of blows on the champ as he lay on his back. The upset, while predicted by some including welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre of Montreal, drew instant response from those who missed the pay-per-view. "Who has a video of the ufc fight tonight? Send it to me," tweeted pop star Justin Bieber. White said plenty of others had the same thought. He called UFC 162 the most-pirated event in the organizations history. The post-fight news conference, available through the UFC and other websites, was also well watched. The 29-year-old Weidman (10-0) received a basic purse of US$24,000 plus a $24,000 win bonus, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. A $50,000 knockout of the night bonus increased that figure to $98,000. Expect the UFC, which does not like to talk money, to quietly top up Weidmans pay in spectacular fashion. Silva (33-5) collected a basic purse of $600,000, missing out on a $200,000 win bonus. The Brazilians pay cheque, however, will be in the millions once other bonuses and a cut of the pay-per-view revenue are factored in. Weidman, who fights out of Mineola, N.Y., improved to 6-0 in the UFC. A graduate of Hofstra University, with a bachelors degree in psychology and masters in physical education, Weidman is a former NCAA All-American wrestler. Most of those who believed Weidman could win thought so because of that wrestling prowess. But Silva survived being taken down in the first round. Silva, seen as one of the sports greatest strikers, lost on his feet for not taking his opponent seriously. The Brazilian has long been a mercurial character, both inside and outside the cage. White has taken him to the woodshed for showboating in the past, even moving him up a weight class in a bid to challenge him. Silva, a father of five, can alternate between being playful and disinterested at media events. But two days after Silva losing his title and tarnishing his reputation, White said he had no beef with the Brazilian star for the bizarre tactics that backfired. The UFC boss called him the sports greatest fighter ever, adding that Silva would have been hailed as a hero if he had gone on to win. Weidman, however, was less than pleased by Silvas fight antics. A clip of him in the cage after the stoppage seems to show the new champ calling Silva "a disrespectful piece of" -- well, you can fill in the blank. According to FightMetric, Silva connected on 14 of 24 significant strike attempts (58 per cent) Saturday night, compared to 16 of 34 (37 per cent) for Weidman, who was good on one of three takedowns. Silva connected on five of six significant strikes in the second round before he got tagged. The Brazilian leads the UFC with a career 67.5 per cent significant strike accuracy rate. Like most, White expects Silva to be all business next time. Its as if Saturdays first chapter was only half-written. Fans want to know what happens when both fighters show up for real. "All wins are not created equal," said White. "And all losses are not created equal." The UFC got good traction on the rematch between Silva and Chael Sonnen at UFC 148 after Sonnen dominated the champ before being submitted in the fifth round of their first fight at UFC 117. White expects this rematch to eclipse that one in terms of fan interest. As for Silva, he tweeted a picture Monday of himself getting a hug in what looked like a family reunion at an airport as his son looked on. "That is my prize," the ex-champ tweeted. OAKLAND, Calif. Taven Bryan Jersey . -- Mark Jackson will not be a lame duck coach next season. The Golden State Warriors picked up the option on Jacksons contract for the 2014-15 season on Wednesday. While both sides could still work out a long-term extension this summer, exercising the option at least ensures Jackson wont enter the upcoming season with an expiring contract. The Warriors also announced the hiring of 11-year NBA veteran Brian Scalabrine as an assistant coach and promoted Joe Boylan from video scout to assistant coach overseeing player development. Pete Myers, who is already on staff, is expected to be the lead assistant after Mike Malone left to be the Sacramento Kings head coach. Darren Erman and Jerry DeGregorio also remain on Jacksons staff. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said last month that he has had informal discussions with Jacksons agent, Arn Tellem, about an extension for the coach and didnt anticipate contentious negotiations. Tellem was Myers long-time mentor at the Wasserman Media Group before Myers moved into the Warriors front office two years ago. Jackson, who doubles as an ordained minister, has said all along that his contract situation will "work itself out." "I trust in God. Im in the best hands possible, and I dont mean Arn Tellem," he quipped after the season ended in May. Jacksons job certainly seems secure. He took the Warriors from a 23-43 record during the lockout-shortened season his first year to a 47-35 team that earned the Western Conferences sixth seed and eliminated Denver in the first round of the playoffs. The eventual conference champion San Antonio Spurs knocked Golden State out in six games in the second round. The Warriors posted the second-highest winning percentage improvement behind Brooklyn. Golden State also is positioned for more success with point guard Stephen Curry anchoring a collection of promising young talent, and Jackson has so far found a way to blend them all together. The former New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers point guard, among others, had worked as a broadcaster before joining the Warriors on June 6, 2011, with no coaching experience at any level. Jackson has emphasized defence and rebounding -- two areas where Golden State had historically been weak -- during his tenure. The Warriors have improved drastically in several of those categories, including opponents field goal percentage (fourth in NBA last season; 20th in 2011-12), opponents 3-point percentage (seventh last season; 28th in 2011-12), defensive rebounding (first last season; 24th in 2011-12) and rebounds per game (third last season; 28th in 2011-12). Phillys favorite pastime is back in vogue again. Local media and fans have pumped new fuel into a narrative as old as time in those parts -- calling the?Philadelphia Flyers?goaltending into question.Last season,?Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth were arguably the strength of the team. Now, with the Flyers tied for 30th in goals against, theyre feeling the heat.Of course, its a little more complicated than that. But the familiar refrain is simple.I think that if you asked Mase or Neuvy right now if theyve played at the top of their games, theyd say no, Flyers general manager?Ron Hextall, himself one of the franchises iconic netminders, told before Fridays game in Toronto. We have full confidence that both of them will get to the top of their games and give us real good goaltending. Quite honestly, the last thing I was worried about going into this season was our goaltending. And, as I sit here today, I feel the same way. I feel very strongly about both guys.Mason, who has been a steady presence in the Flyers net since coming over from the?Columbus Blue Jackets?in 2012-13, sports a .880 save percentage after posting a .918 last season. He smiled and shrugged on Friday when I brought up the Whats wrong with the Flyers goaltending? narrative. When people see the start of the year -- and it hasnt been great, Ill be the first one to admit that -- they hit the panic button. You just have to laugh it off, Mason said. People are always going to have negative things to say about you. [Given] the amount of work that I put into getting comfortable with my game again and getting back to where I have confidence in it, Im not going to let a handful of games sidetrack that at all.You just focus on being better. Its pretty simple. It hasnt been good enough. You put the work in and try to build off solid performances.Neuvirth was terrific last season, with a .924 save percentage. He currently sits at .859 and is now out four to six weeks with a lower-body injury, which he suffered on Saturday night.I want to build on last year, but I also know what happened, happened, Neuvirth said Friday. This is a new year and a new opportunity. Its obvious that they both need to be better, but a little help from their friends would be nice, too. The Flyers defensive miscues at times this season have exacerbated things. No question, said Hextall, when asked if the defensive lapses have had an effect. [If] you want to narrow it down to just the goalies, thats one thing. But if you want to look at turnovers -- and just a couple of times a game, the real blatant turnovers, or the blatant, poor defensive plays -- theyve ended up in our net. It magnifies it because the goalies didnt make the save but weve had errors in our end that led to some of those goals. Its not just the goalies.Hextall is doing a bang-up job of rebuilding his roster. He has two impressive teenagers in his lineup this season --?Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny?-- a year after seeing Shayne Gostisbehere contend for the Calder Trophy. But as one Eastern Conference scout who has seen the Flyers a couple of times this season pointed out, youth in the lineup can also translate, at times, into defensive lapses. Now you bring in Provorov, thats a big jump for a young kid to be relied on and responsible in your own end, the scout said. Theres no doubt hes one heck of a prospect. Then you look at Gostisbehere. His thing is playing with the puck in the offensive zone. Theyve got some really gifted offensive D-men. But sometimes its hard when youre an offensive D-man, and youre not bigg and strong and youre playing in our own end longer than youd like. Wholesale Jaguars Jerseys Online. A lot of times the puck can end up in the back of your net. The?Toronto Maple Leafs?are 28th in goals against. They prevailed on Friday night in a wild, 6-3 affair in which defense wasnt exactly a priority at times. I asked Leafs head coach Mike Babcock after his teams Friday morning skate about drawing parallels between his team and the Flyers, in terms of the challenge of youth and finding that defensive structure. If youre the coach who has given up the most goals in the league ... I mean, you have to have a look right there, Babcock said pointing at himself. So, why can we go from where we were with less talent [but better defensively last year] to where we are with more talent? Well, you dont take care of the puck. Not enough details defensively. As a young player you learn in this league very quickly: No. 1, you dont like a lot of dashes [minuses] beside your name. You just dont. It hurts your feelings. So you want to get rid of that. The second thing is, you know that when its going in your net all the time, its not going in the other net. So youre playing in the wrong zone. Thats the work zone. The speed zone is the neutral zone and the fun zone is the one you want to play in. You better learn how to play without [the puck] so you can spend more time in the fun zone.Bingo.I also wonder how much its weighing on both goalies they will be unrestricted free agents next July 1. There have been no contract talks with either guy, as Hextall wants to see how this plays out for a while before making any decisions. Both guys are pros. They both know theyre going to be employed next year, said Hextall, downplaying whatever impact the expiring deals may have on both of his goalies. Theres no reason to make any decisions right now. Were going to see where it goes. Theres a possibility we sign both guys. I wouldnt be opposed to it. I like both guys. But in the end, why not get as much information as you can before you make a decision??Mason isnt going to pretend its ideal, however.Would it be nice to have a contract past this year and have that kind of security? Absolutely, Mason said. But I understand the situation right now, that Neuvy and I are both up. Im sure he wants to be here, as do I.This is where I learned to love hockey again, where Im comfortable, love the guys on the team, love where I live. Its definitely something to work toward, and hopefully it works out in my favor in the end.Neuvirth is equally philosophical. I would love to stay with the Flyers. But, you know, its a business, he said. Im just worrying about what I can control.Hanging over all of it is the Las Vegas expansion draft. As it stands now, the only Flyers goalie who could to be exposed next June is third-year AHLer Anthony Stolarz, a second-round pick in 2012 by the Flyers. Philadelphia might rather expose someone else, which would mean trading or signing for another goalie.Plus, theres the matter of what to do with Mason and Neuvirth past this season. This could go a number of ways, and I dont have that figured out yet, Hextall said when asked about the Vegas factor. His current goalies arent dwelling on what might happen next summer. Its definitely going to cause some movement, Im sure of it, around the league. I just hope my bags wont be packing, Mason said, with a smile.Who knows? Neuvirth said. I just worry about the next game. The Denver Nuggets experimented with two 7-footers in the starting lineup but it didnt work out. Trey Hendrickson Jersey . They stumbled to a 3-5 record with Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic manning the post together, so coach Michael Malone inserted Kenneth Faried at power forward. It took a couple of games but the Nuggets finally got a win with Faried starting and Jokic coming off the bench. Turns out, Faried thought he should have been starting all along. When I came out of that starting spot, it kind of gave me a wakeup call, Faried said after Denvers 120-104 win over Phoenix on Wednesday. Like, Hey, you need to get back to who you are.Faried had 20 points and 15 rebounds, both season highs, in the win, and he and the Nuggets want to ride that momentum against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. The Nuggets (4-7) also want to get even with the Raptors, who won the first meeting between the teams, 105-102, in Toronto on Oct. 31.The Raptors (7-4) are going to be hungry for a win after losing back-to-back games to the two NBA Finals teams from last season. Toronto lost by four at Cleveland on Tuesday and then fell to Golden State at home on Wednesday. These two games are a good test for us, they let us know how quickly mental mistakes will cost you and breakdowns will cost you and then in the second half when we got focused in, locked in, we started switching some things properly, talking, communicating we kind of got back in the game, Toronto coach Dwane Casey told the Toronto Sun. But you cant have lulls like that against great teams.Star guard DeMar DeRozan hasnt had any lulls this season. He has scored 30 or more points in nine games this season, including 34 against the Warriors on a night he was 17-for-17 from the line. One of those 30-point games came against Denver. He had 33, and his backcourt mate, Kyle Lowry, had 29.Stopping those two will be a tall task for the Nuggets. Their best perimeter defender, Gary Harris, is out with a foot injury and Will Barton hasnt played since spraining his ankle against Toronto, leaving Denver thin at guard.Malone started backup point guard Jameer Nelson against the Suns and went with a three-guard rotation with rookie Jamal Murray. It worked well enough against the Suns, but it will be a different story against the Raptors.Fridays game is the beginning of four road games in six nights for Toronto. The Raptors also play Sacramento, the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston. The Pacific Division-leading Clippers will provide a tough challenge, but Denver thinks it has found something with Faried back in the lineup, so the Nuggets will be tough to beat, especially after getting their first home win in four games.Very happy to get the monkey off our back, get the first home win, Malone said. Now we have to turn around and get ready for Toronto. Drew Brees Jersey . The next step is a better finish. LOUIS -- Mike Smith is used to facing plenty of shots, so this was nothing new.LONDON -- The UEFA executive committee on Thursday ratified a 10-match minimum ban for racist abuse by players or officials. The changes were first announced last month by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and will now be included in the disciplinary regulations. While UEFA can only enforce the punishments in its competitions, its 53 members will be asked to adopt the same measures domestically at its congress on Friday. The English Football Association announced last week it will only introduce a five-match minimum ban for racism. "An association should adopt the same or similar measures," Infantino said. "UEFA has always acted in a way to try to convince people rather than impose. I dont think you measure the way of fighting against racism in one simple measure and sanction." The debate on racism intensified this season after AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng led his team off a field during a friendly match in Italy after facing abuse from fans. UEFA has been criticized in the past for only fining national associations for racist abuse by fans. In the future, if there is racism in the stands at UEFA matches, the first sanction for clubs will no longer just be a fine but a partial stadium closure. If there is further abuse, there will be a full stadium closure and a fine of 50,000 euros ($65,000) imposed on the team. The executive committee also decided to raise the minimum ban for assaultiing match officials from 10 to 15 matches. Tyeler Davison Jersey. For insulting a match official, the minimum sanction will rise from two to three matches. The venues for the finals of the UEFA club competitions in 2015 were also approved -- Berlins Olympic Stadium for the Champions League and Warsaws National Stadium for the Europa League. Infantino said details on the format of the Europa League will be announced to its congress on Friday, with the winner set to earn a place in the Champions League from 2015. "We want to inform, first the national associations, and then the media," Infantino said of the changes. UEFA is also acting to combat doping. The steroid profiles of the nearly 900 players who have played in UEFA matches since 2008 will be retrospectively analyzed. The results will be used to determine whether to introduce biological passports, which monitor the effects of doping. "The study will be collective and anonymous and its findings would thus not result in any player incurring an anti-doping rule violation," UEFA said. From next season, in additional to the existing urine tests, blood tests -- previously only used at the European Championship -- will be rolled out to all UEFA competitions. On match-fixing and other acts of corruption, disciplinary action can be taken irrespective of when offences were committed after the executive committee lifted the previous period of limitation.
