BOSTON (AP) — Alex Cora knows first-hand the way things change in October. That’s why the Boston Red Sox manager wants to keep everything the same for his club.Routine served Boston well during the regular season. Under their rookie skipper Steven Wright Jersey , the Red Sox posted a franchise-best 108 wins and secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They will enter the American League Division Series on Friday with two AL MVP candidates in Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez, plus Cy Young Award candidate Chris Sale and former Cy Young winners David Price and Rick Porcello — both coming off solid regular seasons. The Red Sox won’t have an ALDS opponent until Wednesday when the Yankees host the Athletics in the wild-card game. Cora said the team will gather for dinner that night and watch together. Other than that, their preparations will be the same — from meetings, to batting practices, to bullpen sessions.“That’s why I feel they’re gonna be fine, because nothing’s gonna change,” Cora said.Boston is coming off consecutive first-round postseason exits, winning just one game in those two series.Cora was an assistant coach with the Houston Astros last year when they opened the ALDS against Boston with back-to-back 8-2 victories on their way to a 3-1 series win and eventual World Series title.“It’s always good to have the last at-bat if you are down — no doubt about it,” Cora said of the benefits of opening at home. “We love it here…The atmosphere should be loud and we’ll take advantage of it.”Under Cora, the Red Sox have become an aggressive offensive team with dependable power in the middle of the lineup — two of their biggest deficiencies over the last two postseasons.Martinez was given a $110 million Tyler Thornburg Jersey , five-year contract this offseason specifically to help in those areas and has come through in a big way.He ended the regular season batting .330 with 43 home runs and 130 RBIs. The only other Red Sox to hit at least .330 with 40-plus homers and 130 RBIs are Ted Williams (1949) and Jimmie Foxx (1936, 1938). The last major leaguer to do it was Miguel Cabrera (2013).And according to the Elias Sports Bureau, Betts and Martinez became the first MLB teammates to finish first and second in batting average and slugging percentage since 1904, when Pittsburgh’s Honus Wagner and Fred Clarke did it.Betts also has other motivations entering his third postseason. He hit just .200 in his first postseason in 2016 before bouncing back to hit .313 last postseason. But he has yet to record a home run or RBI.He is coming off his best regular season as a major leaguer, with career-bests in batting average (.346), slugging percentage (.640) and home runs (32).“I think it’s one of those things where you gotta go out and do what you’ve been doing all year — don’t try to do anything more or take anything way,” Betts said. “Just see the game the same way we played 162.”Boston won its regular-season series with the Yankees 10-9, but went just 2-4 against Oakland. The Athletics’ Sean Manaea no-hit Boston in April, though he’s now out for the season with an injury.Jackie Bradley Jr. said Boston has no preference for who it faces in Fenway Park on Friday.“The team that wins,” he said.Notes: Cora said right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is in line to start Game 4 of the ALDS if they face the Yankees. He said lefty Eduardo Rodriguez would start that game if they face the Athletics. But he said both decisions are not set in stone. Chris Sale , David Price and Rick Porcello have been named as starters in the first three games. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) Resorts Casino Hotel and DraftKings on Wednesday received approval to become the first companies to offer online and mobile sports betting in New Jersey. The state Division of Gaming Enforcement gave approval to the casino and its Boston-based online partner to launch an invitation-only version of mobile sports betting, which will undergo several days of testing before becoming fully available. Requests for invitations to participate can be made at launch was expected to happen Wednesday afternoon or evening. The companies won a heated race to be first to market with mobile and online sports betting, which is widely seen as the most promising segment of the nascent sports betting market. New Jersey regulators are considering mobile applications from several other companies and could soon approve additional online providers.Four casinos and two horse tracks currently offer in-person sports betting.Resorts officials declined to comment on Wednesday’s launch, which came hours after Harrah’s became the fourth Atlantic City casino to offer sports betting: A Frank Sinatra impersonator asked Luck to be a lady as he bet on the New York Yankees, and an Elvis impersonator thanked the clerk very much for handing him a similar bet slip.Harrah’s started taking sports bets two days after its sister property, Bally’s, did, joining the Borgata, Ocean Resort Roger Clemens Jersey , Bally’s and two horse racing tracks, the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park.”I did one with my heart and one with my head,” said James Prendergast, of Washington Township in Warren County. ”My heart bet on the (New York) Giants to win the Super Bowl, and my head bet on the (Houston) Texans.”Longtime Harrah’s customer Alan Kallman, of Monroe Township, placed the first sports bet at Harrah’s, putting $25 on the Yankees to win the World Series – after his wife talked him out of betting on the Boston Red Sox.”There’s a saying, Alan: Happy wife, happy life ,” said Kevin Ortzman, Atlantic City president of Caesars Entertainment, which owns Harrah’s, Bally’s and Caesars.Ortzman said Bally’s sports book ”has met our expectations” during its first two days of operation, but he would not say how much in bets it had taken in.New Jersey won a U.S. Supreme Court case in May clearing the way for all 50 states to offer sports betting should they choose to do so.—Follow Wayne Parry at

ARLINGTON , Texas (AP) — Bartolo Colon reached out and snagged the comeback liner while slipping into a squat on the mound. The portly 45-year-old pitcher managed to stay upright, with a smile on his face and a ball from his milestone victory secured firmly in his glove.Colon became the top winning pitcher born in Latin America, punctuating his 246th career victory with that nifty snag for the last out of his seven innings as the Texas Rangers roughed up Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners 11-4 on Tuesday night.“I thought (first baseman Jurickson) Profar was going to throw the ball away to the public, to the fans,” Colon said through a translator. “But I saw it and then I started laughing because it happened that way.”On his sixth try since earning his 245th win on June 30 to match the mark held by Nicaragua’s Dennis Martinez, the Rangers hurler from the Dominican Republic finally had the record to himself.“It was a long journey, but it finally came and it feels good,” said Colon, who got his last out against Dee Gordon on his 94th pitch.Colon (6-10) gave up four runs and eight hits in seven innings. The portly and popular right-hander walked none and struck out one. He retired 14 of the last 16 batters he faced after Seattle had two triples in the third, an inning after back-to-back homers by Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager .“True to I think the competitor in him, once we got the lead, you could see just the extra little gear that he put it into to get himself through those innings Enos Slaughter Jersey ,” manager Jeff Banister said.“It took a while to get it, but I’m proud of him,” said Adrian Beltre, the active career leader with 3,131 hits. “He’s a great, awesome teammate.”Beltre, Jurickson Profar and Rougned Odor all homered off Hernandez (8-10), who allowed a career-high 11 runs — seven earned — in six innings. Odor also had a two-run double.Colon is 246-186 in 560 games since his big league debut with Cleveland in 1997, was the 2005 AL Cy Young Award winner while with the Angels and has won games for each of the 11 teams he has pitched for in his career. His 244th victory earlier this season pushed him past Hall of Famer Juan Marichal for the most by a Dominican pitcher.“I always give thanks to God and to my family, all the support that I have from them,” Colon said. When Beltre struck out in the second against his old friend and former teammate, Hernandez laughed while playfully pointing him back toward the dugout. Beltre grounded into a double play in the third , but his 468th career homer was a solo shot to straightway center in the sixth that made it 11-4.“I lost my command after the first two innings. Just leaving it in the middle of the plate and making a lot of mistakes,” Hernandez said. “That’s it. See the results.”Hernandez, whose 168 career wins are the most by a Venezuelan-born pitcher, struck out two and walked four. He was hurt by two errors by third baseman Seager that led to four unearned runs.“I was just bad tonight, didn’t catch them,” Seager said. The Mariners led 3-0 before Texas had a four-run third. Odor’s double made it 3-all and Elvis Andrus had a tiebreaking RBI single to extend the longest active hitting streak in the majors, and his career best, to 18 games. Profar’s three-run homer made it 8-4 in the fifth right after Seager misplayed Beltre’s two-out grounder. Odor’s two-run shot in the sixth was his 14th homer. Center fielder Cameron Maybin then made a running, leaping catch with his glove extended near the top of the wall to take a hit away from Andrus before Beltre put a shot over the wall.TRAINER’S ROOMMariners: Maybin was struck on the upper leg while waiting in the on-deck circle in the ninth inning when Chris Herrmann sliced a foul ball. Maybe appeared to be OK, even smiling briefly. Maybin then grounded out.UP NEXTYovani Gallardo, 6-1 since rejoining Texas in mid-June for the first time since 2015, starts the series finale against Seattle and lefty Marco Gonzales (12-6). While Gallardo has a 4.76 ERA in his past seven starts Kolten Wong Jersey , the Rangers have averaged an MLB-best 11.57 runs per nine innings with the right-hander on the mound. No AL pitcher has more than his six wins in that span. Gonzales had won five starts in a row with a 1.57 ERA before losing Friday against Toronto. TORONTO — The Philadelphia Phillies need a victory Sunday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. They need the win to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays, who are dawdling in fourth place in the American League East.More important, they must reverse a recent trend that threatens their playoff hopes.Article continues below ...They let a 5-0 lead get away Saturday afternoon and lost 8-6 to the Blue Jays on a three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning by Aledmys Diaz. The Phillies, who entered Saturday three games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East, have lost six of their past seven games.“We’re still in a good position to strike,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said. The Blue Jays have won five in a row for the first time this season and hold a 4-1 lead in the season series against the Phillies. The Phillies (69-60) will start right-hander Vince Velasquez (8-9, 4.06 ERA) Sunday and the Blue Jays (60-69) will counter with right-hander Marco Estrada (7-9, 4.88).Velasquez has never faced the Blue Jays in the regular season, although he has pitched against them in spring training.Estrada has not pitched against the Phillies in the regular season this year, but in 11 career games (five starts) against them he is 2-1 with a 5.45 ERA.The Phillies have struggled on the road this season, going 28-48 (41-21 at home) and 5-14 in their past 19 games.“I think we maintain the same poise that we have in rough stretches all season,” Kapler said. “I think we’ve had stretches similar to this one. This one has been undoubtedly difficult. but we want to remind our guys how tough we are and how resilient we are Trevor Rosenthal Jersey , how teams have rough stretches and this by no means does this mean we don’t have the ability to win the National League East.“I think one of the things that we can focus on is the reason this one may be a little bit more challenging is because it takes more energy to be resilient when you’re closer to the end. So it just means that we’re going to need to dig real deep and get that last drop of energy. I believe we have it in us.”While Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was 0-for-3 with a walk Saturday to end his hitting streak at 12 games, the home run streak of Kendrys Morales is alive. He has hit home runs in six consecutive games (for a total of seven) that matches the club record set in 2001 by Jose Cruz Jr.The streak by Morales equals the longest in the majors this season set by Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals on July 14-21.Morales also has a nine-game hitting streak. His batting is .516 (16-for-31) with seven homers and 13 RBIs.“He’s been on a nice little roll now for a while, a good while,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “Early in the year, he was chasing a lot of breaking balls, off-speed pitches down in the dirt, down in the zone — that’s what was getting him into trouble. He’s laying off those now and he’s even hitting breaking balls.”Outfielder Billy McKinney hit a two-run homer Saturday and has three homers in his first seven games from the Blue Jays after being called up from Triple-A Buffalo. He was part of the deal that sent left-hander J.A. Happ to the New York Yankees on July 26.McKinney is the first player to combine three homers and nine RBIs in his first seven games with the Blue Jays. Seven others have hit three or more homers in their first seven games with Toronto and Dave Martinez had nine RBIs in his first seven games with the Blue Jays in 2000.

test against Steelers Underappreciated castoff quarterback Tyrod Taylor believes in himself Jarvis Landry Jersey Elite , despite no one else seemingly sharing the sentiment. Nobody, except for maybe the Cleveland Browns coaches who are counting on him this season. But even their beliefs have caveats. The Browns love him for what he is, but also what they hope he can be, and both sides need him to become that this season. Taylor and the Browns may be on very different paths, but this year their fates are very much intertwined. Whether he keeps the job or not this season, it’s obvious that Taylor—win, lose or indifferent—is not long for Cleveland. His contract expires after this season, so the one-year stint he’ll play there is overshadowed by its caretaker nature. And despite being named Jackson’s unconditional starting quarterback for 2018 before the draft, Baker Mayfield was taken with the No. 1 pick. So while he has the job now, and assurances that he’s secure, let’s not forget how coach Hue Jackson has repeatedly waffled in his past convictions. If Taylor fails, his dreams of becoming a franchise quarterback could vanish quickly, along with the tasty salary that comes with it. And if he fails, Jackson could quickly find himself out of a job, thus shuffling coaches again for the Browns.Since being traded to Cleveland for a third-round pick in last April’s NFL draft, though, Taylor has handled himself as well as anyone in this situation could. He has done, said, and acted just as you’d expect an NFL starting quarterback. He has been a true professional , partly because he knows teams are watching, but mainly because that’s who he is as a person. It seems like he’s going to excel. It seems like it’s time for underdogs like the Browns and Taylor to finally get the credit they deserve. But things could not be as they seem. It’s true Taylor’s play this season has immense repercussions, as we have discussed, but whether he’ll do it or not is still a very strong unknown. Let’s take quick look into where he has been in order to put his chances of success in the most accurate light. The Virginia Tech product was selected by Baltimore with the 180th pick in the 2011 NFL draft, his name finally getting called after 10 other passers came off the board during the three-day rookie draft. Six quarterbacks went in the top 36 picks—three of them are no longer in the league. The next four are also out of work, including someone named Nathan Enderle, a guy who never played a down in the league and went 20 picks before Taylor. Former Crimson Tide signal-caller Greg McElroy was the only quarterback picked after him, and he’s gone too—long gone.Once he got the Buffalo, a place he was relied on to be the guy, Taylor was benched twice, once despite having public assurances and votes of confidence by the Bills (sounds familiar). That includes a benching last season, which turned into rookie Nathan Peterman’s infamous five-interception game and only lasted one half. Taylor came back in out of necessity, not confidence from his coaches, and he ended up quarterbacking the Bills to the postseason. The Bills dumped his as quickly as they could this past offseason, and the Browns happily brought him on board. After all, their quarterback situation has more resembled the Petermans of the league than the Taylors.Taylor’s scouting report has always been that he’s good enough, but not great or even good. That he’ll play within a system and not lose many games for his teams. That he just doesn’t have it as far as making game-changing plays where other quarterbacks fall short. We’ll find out this season whether those thoughts are true, or if Taylor maybe has a little more to him than many seem to think. Taylor has every reason in the world to play his best this season, and the stars have seemingly aligned to allow him to do it. If he’s the guy he believes he is Cheap Baker Mayfield Jersey , not the sixth rounder who can’t change games, then he’ll succeed with veteran coordinator Todd Haley calling plays along with the handful of Browns offensive players who all appear to be on the verge of breakouts. And if he does seize his opportunity, then he’ll get his pay day, and the Browns will have reassured ownership they have improved their franchise. That is the ideal outcome, where Taylor gets his paycheck and the Browns head into 2019 with hopes of taking the next step in the coming years with Mayfield at the helm. This is the script for his journey from under appreciated to solidified NFL starter, but it’s only a rough draft. Taylor has to finalize the first chapter on Sunday against Pittsburgh.Cleveland Browns Podcast - Next Up On The DBN Network: Ez Does It 9/8/18 Alas, we have reached the eve of the regular season, when all can be right with the world because our beloved (r)orange helmets will be playing on Sundays.Rejoice and smile at strangers - these are good times indeed! That is, at least there will be some football, and so I gab about all that a little bit in the latest Ez Does It. A third-round pick in 2016, Coleman was the team’s starting right tackle in 2017 for all 16 games. Although he didn’t play exceptionally well, for it being his first year as a starter, he held his own. This offseason, the team signed Chris Hubbard from the Steelers to be their new starting right tackle. With Joe Thomas retiring, the team decided to have an open competition there, with Coleman getting the first crack at it. Less than a week into training camp Womens Larry Ogunjobi Jersey , though, head coach Hue Jackson had seen enough and replaced Coleman. Rumors quickly started that the club could be trying to move on from Coleman, and on Friday, that’s exactly what they did: they shipped him to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2019.The trade likely assures that rookie Desmond Harrison will make the roster, and Greg Robinson’s odds of making it seem pretty good as well. The team still has 18 more roster moves to make to get to 53 players by the 4:00 PM ET deadline on Saturday.

We’ve gotten to this one a bit later in the week than we usually would. . .again White Eric Kendricks Jersey , a function of yours truly doing vacationy-type things. But, we’re on it now, and we’re going to take a look at the history between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. As you’d expect, the Vikings have faced the Packers more times than any other team in franchise history, as Sunday’s game will mark the 114th contest between these two teams. The Packers have the lead in the all-time head-to-head record, but the Vikings have closed the gap on that front a bit over the past few seasons. As always, the numbers used in this post come to you courtesy of the folks from Pro Football Reference.Total regular season games between the Vikings and the Packers: 113All-time regular season record: Packers, 59-52-2Total Vikings’ points scored, head-to-head: 2 Kirk Cousins Jersey ,189 (19.4 points/game)Total Packers’ points scored, head-to-head: 2,459 (21.8 points/game)Longest Vikings’ winning streak vs Packers: 7 games, 2 November 1975 to 22 October 1978Longest Packers’ winning streak vs Vikings: 6 games, 22 October 1961 to 10 November 1963 (first six games in series history)Most recent Vikings’ road win in series: 23 December 2017 (final score 16-0)Most recent Packers’ home win in series: 24 December 2016 (final score 38-25)Biggest Vikings’ road win in series: 26 points, 7 December 1986 (final score 32-6)Biggest Packers’ home win in series: 38 points, 14 November 2011 (final score 45-7)Current streak: Vikings, 2 winsAs I’m guessing you’ve heard by this point, the Vikings did sweep the Packers last season Authentic Mike Hughes Jersey , and it was allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll because Aaron Rodgers was injured and had nothing to do with the Vikings being a good football team or anything like that. Last season at Lambeau, in another late-season matchup, the Vikings’ defense did something that no Vikings’ defense had done for nearly a quarter of a century. . .hold an opponent to zero points. Granted, the Vikings’ offense wasn’t great that night or anything, but they did enough to grind out a 16-0 victory, the first shutout for the Vikings since 1993.The last time the Vikings saw Aaron Rodgers for four quarters at Lambeau Field. . .well, it didn’t go particularly well for them. In another December matchup, Rodgers was in full-blown MVP mode, as he completed four touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Packers ended the competitive portion of the season for the 2016 Vikings by a final score of 38-25.This is the first September matchup at Lambeau Field between the Vikings and the Packers since the 2008 season opener. . .which just happened to be the first regular season start of Rodgers career. Neither quarterback that night really lit it up. . .both Rodgers and Tarvaris Jackson threw for 178 yards and a touchdown on the evening. However Youth Anthony Barr Jersey , the Packers ultimately made more plays than the Vikings did that night, and walked away with a 24-19 victory to start that season. And that’s a brief look back at the history between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers leading up to tomorrow’s matchup at Lambeau Field, ladies and gentlemen.Mike Zimmer says that Everson Griffen won’t be back until Week 6 at the earliest Aside from the on-field struggles of the defense, the biggest story for the Minnesota Vikings through the first quarter of the season has been what’s happened with defensive end Everson Griffen. Following an incident at a Minneapolis hotel prior to the Vikings’ Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills, Griffen has been away from the team and working on some personal issues. While Griffen has vowed to come back, per a statement he released last week, it won’t happen prior to the Vikings’ Week 5 contest in Philadelphia. Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed that to reporters late last week as well. It’s hard to speculate about whether or not the loss of Griffen has had a residual effect on the team as a whole. Yes, everyone on the Vikings’ roster is a professional and has a job to do, and I understand that sentiment Trae Waynes Jersey , but at the same time Griffen is one of the Vikings’ veteran leaders. It’s difficult to believe that his absence wouldn’t have an effect on his teammates, particularly those that have played with him for a number of seasons.Zimmer also said that the main focus is on getting Griffen “right” again and then worrying about getting him back onto the football field. Hopefully we will see both of those things in the very near future, but the former is defintely more important than the latter.Whenever the comeback starts for Everson Griffen, however, it won’t begin in Week 5.

On the latest episode of the Locked On Bucs podcast , David Harrison and myself air out a few of our concerns through two preseason games. No, no one is hitting the panic button yet, but there are a few things that can quickly become habit rather than outlier. If they become habit, it will cost them big plays - and big games - come the regular season. No, Ronald Jones II has not looked good thus far. There is a lot of excitement and high expectations surrounding the second round pick, but as of now Peyton Barber is the clear cut number one guy. Meanwhile Lavonte David Jersey , RoJo needs to trust himself - and his teammates - more.On the other side of the ball, Kwon Alexander did not have a good game Saturday in Nashville. In fact, a lot of the defense took bad angles, missed tackles, and looked out of sync. The defense has to be able to clean these things up before week one gets here as they will have the tall task of keeping the vaunted New Orleans Saints’ offense in check to allow Ryan Fitzpatrick a chance at stealing a win.All this and more in our latest discussion on the Locked On Bucs podcast. one with its performance. The Buccaneers exploded on offense , defeating New Orleans, 48-40. Ryan Fitzpatrick was simply magical in the win, possibly playing his best game ever in his 13 years of professional football. The 35-year-old finished with 417 passing yards and four scores. Though the defense as a whole didn’t look good against New Orleans, the defensive line looks like it could become formidable as the season continues. The Buccaneers need to get healthy across the front-four, if they do, watch out.Tampa Bay enters the second of three games without starting quarterback Jameis Winston. It will be no easy task when the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, travel to Raymond James Stadium for the Bucs home opener.1. Can Fitzpatrick stay hot?Everyone has the same question as the Buccaneers prepare for the Eagles. Can Fitzpatrick stay hot? While I don’t think we’re in for another 400+ yard performance, I expect Fitzpatrick to stay relatively consistent. Going against one of the top defenses in the league, the former Harvard star is once again going to need his receivers to make plays. They were excellent at doing that a week ago as Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson combined for 293 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Godwin and Adam Humphries look like the perfect second fiddles to the duo of Evans and Jackson. If Fitzpatrick can make plays against this Philadelphia defense, Tampa Bay will likely improve to 2-0 for the first time in eight years.2. Bucs offensive line vs Eagles defensive lineThe revamped offensive front was a highlight of this offense a week ago. Tampa Bay didn’t allow a sack and gave up just four tackles for loss all game. That’s a far cry from where this unit was a year ago as the Buccaneers gave up 40 sacks in 2017. The Eagles have one of the top defensive fronts in the NFL, especially on the interior with Fletcher Cox and Haloti Ngata. They sacked Matt Ryan four times in their season-opener and hit him a whopping 15 times. That’s exactly the kind of thing the Bucs can’t allow to happen to Fitzpatrick on Sunday.I think the key aspect here is opening up the run game. If Tampa Bay can improve its success on the ground (112 yards on 31 carries in week one), they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.Likewise Youth Gerald McCoy Jersey , if the Eagles shut it down, it could be a long Sunday. 3. Increasing pass-rushing successThe Bucs front-seven was excellent against New Orleans when it came to pressuring Drew Brees. Obviously, the future hall-of-famer lit up Tampa Bay regardless of that pressure. In week two, I want to see the Buccaneers generate more success when it comes to rushing the quarterback. What exactly is success in this context? Sacks, quarterback hits, and tackles for loss.Tampa Bay ranked dead LAST in the NFL in 2017 with just 22 total sacks. That’s simply awful and it’s one of the many reasons this defense has struggled. The Buccaneers had one sack and five QB hits in week one, they’re going to need to up the ante against Philadelphia. That’ll be a little more complicated with Vita Vea out and Jason Pierre-Paul limited in practice.4. Limiting the success of Nick FolesDespite what he did a year ago after Carson Wentz tore his ACL, Nick Foles isn’t some prodigal savior. He got hot at the right time, but with Foles at the helm, Philadelphia is more beatable than they’d be if Wentz was back and healthy. The former Arizona star finished just 19/34 for 117 yards and an interception a week ago. Missing top receiver Alshon Jeffery, the Eagles offense wasn’t very explosive against Atlanta. Foles longest pass went for 18 yards and the rushing attack wasn’t much better, its biggest play being a 21-yard scamper from Corey Clement. Philadelphia doesn’t have an offensive player that can take over a game like Alvin Kamara or Michael Thomas. If Tampa Bay can make them earn every yard, Philadelphia will struggle. The Buccaneers have to stayed glued to guys like Zach Ertz and Darren Sproles (if he’s available) in coverage to limit big plays , which is easier said than done.5. Forcing three and outsWith Tampa Bay likely fielding a short-handed defense that’ll be without both starting cornerbacks against Philadelphia, it’s vital for them to get the Eagles off the field as fast as possible. The weather is going to be a factor on Sunday afternoon. We know how Florida is. Hot, humid, and unforgiving. It’s the type of weather that can wear a team down, especially when they’re missing important players like Brent Grimes and Vernon Hargreaves. It doesn’t help with Vea out. And it’s not any better than JPP missed Wednesday’s practice and was limited Thursday.Tampa Bay forced New Orleans into just two three and outs over 11 drives in week one. On the other side, Philadelphia had three three and outs over 11 drives in its win against Atlanta. It all comes down to what’s highlighted above. If the Bucs can bring consistent pressure to make Foles uncomfortable and limit what his playmakers bring to the table to force them behind the chains, I like their odds on Sunday. The Crow’s Nest: Eagles on high alert and searching for answers on Bucs’ defense Tampa Bay, We're Paying Attention | Philadelphia EaglesTampa Bay opened its season with an explosive and shocking win on the road in New Orleans.Focus Is The Next Challenge - JoeBucsFan.comIra’s Monday column showcases various takes from the victorious Bucs locker roomAnswers Need To Be Found, Quickly - JoeBucsFan.comRunning out of excuses.Bucs’ DeSean Jackson’s status unclear for Eagles gameDeSean Jackson sat at his locker with what looked to be a 10-pound bag of ice taped to his right shoulder.Alvin Kamara's workload vs. Bucs didn't go as planned | NOLA.comRunning back only rushed eight times despite playing a career-high number of snaps.Fitzmagic and the Buccaneers' Unprecedented OutputData Crunch: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had the most prolific game of his 14-year career on Sunday, in the process putting up some of the most remarkable offensive numbers in franchise history.

The Bucs are heading to the Windy City to take on the Bears after suffering their first defeat of the season. Inconsistent play helped the Steelers build an early first half lead that Tampa Bay couldn’t overcome and now they are 2-1. Things won’t get any easier this week. The Bears field one of the league’s top defenses and they are no joke. The first team to 20 points will most likely be the winner in what should be a dog fight of a game. OverviewAll-time series record: The Bears lead the all-time series 38-20. Tampa Bay has won the past two meetings: 36-10 in 2016 and 29-7 in 2017. The Bucs are 14-17 at home and 6-21 on the road. Longest win streak: Chicago won 12 in a row from 1983-1988.Peyton Barber needs to get going this weekend.Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty ImagesLargest victory: Tampa Bay crushed the Bears 41-0 in 2000.2018 offensive and defensive rankings: Tampa Bay still owns the league’s best offense (1st pass Youth Customized Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jerseys , 30th run) but they slid to 31st in total defense (31st pass, 3rd run). The Bears are 26th in total offense (28th pass, 12th run) and fifth in total defense (11th pass, 2nd run). What to watch forKhalil Mack vs. the Bucs’ offense: Do I really need to explain? Mack is the best defender in the NFL not named Aaron Donald. Tampa Bay’s pass protection: They were exposed against the Steelers. See above regarding concerns in that area. Chicago’s offense vs. the Bucs’ defense: The Bears move the ball mainly on the ground, but Mitchell Trubisky is waiting for his first breakout opportunity. The Bucs can stop the Bears’ ground attack, but how will they fare in the secondary?Ryan Fitzpatrick: It doesn’t seem likely, but if Fitzpatrick struggles and the Bucs are down on the scoreboard - will Tampa Bay turn to Jameis Winston? How will the Bucs respond: The Bucs just suffered their first loss of the season. It will be interesting to see how they respond with a short week on the road. Impact PlayersTampa BayQB Ryan Fitzpatrick: He will be they key to keeping this offense moving.RB Peyton Barber: The Bucs have to find a way to get the running game going.T Demar Dotson and T Donovan Smith: They will be responsible for keeping Mack out of the backfield. LB Lavonte David: He will need to keep Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen from making plays. CB Brent Grimes: Last week’s performance was pretty bad. Grimes needs a big bounce back this week. S Jordan Whitehead: Will the Bears be able to expose the rookie?Khalil Mack is an absolute monsterPhoto by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesChicagoQB Mitchell Trubisky: Trubisky may have to shoulder the load for the offense this weekend.RB Jordan Howard: Chicago’s bell cow will face a tough test against the Bucs.WR Allen Robinson II: He was brought in to be a difference-maker and could have his best game as a Bear on Sunday.DE Khalil Mack: If you don’t know about Mack, then you need to educate yourself, quickly.DT Akiem Hicks: Mack isn’t the only player on the defensive line that is disruptive. S Eddie Jackson: One of the league’s best young safeties, Jackson will have his work cut out for him this weekend. Cool StatsThrough three games, Tampa Bay leads the league in total yards per game, passing yards per game, yards per play and tied for third in points scored. The Buccaneers have scored 102 points through the first three games, a team record for points scored through the first three games.Dating back to last season, the Buccaneers have totaled at least 425 yards of offense in each of their past four games, extending their franchise record. They join the L.A. Chargers (11/19/17-12/10/17) as the only two teams to post at least four consecutive games with at least 425 yards of offense since 2015.The Buccaneers have totaled at least 390 net passing yards in each of their past three games. They join the Pittsburgh Steelers (11/8/1511/29/15) as the only teams in NFL history to post three consecutive games with at least 390 net passing yards.Per NFL Communications and Elias Sports Bureau, Mike Evans (367 yards, three touchdowns) and DeSean Jackson (312 yards, three touchdowns) are the first pair of teammates in NFL history to each record at least 300 receiving yards and three touchdown catches through their team’s first three games of a season.Mike Evans is off to an amazing start and needs to keep it going against the BearsPhoto by Brian Blanco/Getty ImagesGame OutlookThis is going to be a dog fight. The Bears currently represent the old-style NFL, winning with defense and a rushing attack, while the Bucs represent the new-style NFL. It will be interesting to see how much the game has really changed in terms of how to win. The odds aren’t in Tampa Bay’s favor in Vegas nor in reality. Going on the road on a short week to play in one of the most hostile environments is a recipe for disaster in the NFL. How will this Bucs team respond? This game could go either way in the end. Sam Darnold was only 2 years old when his grandfather passed away, so he never got to know the Marlboro Man.Dick Hammer left behind a legacy of larger-than-life tales, though, and the New York Jets' newest quarterback has heard them all. Family gatherings have been filled with the stories of Hammer's athletic accomplishments as a college basketball player and a U.S Olympian in volleyball , his bravery as a firefighter and his creative side as an actor."My mom always tells me how much I remind her of him," Darnold said Friday during his introductory news conference as the No. 3 overall pick of the NFL draft at the Jets' training facility.Darnold's mother Chris, sitting in the front row with her husband Mike and daughter Franki, wiped tears from her eyes as Sam mentioned his late grandfather."When Sam was really little, we used to tease him because we would say he got all the DNA because he could do anything," said Chris Darnold, wearing a Jets cap. "He was big like his dad, got his dad's girth. He got my dad's agility and athletic ability. My dad was the type of person that could pick up a game by just watching someone play."Sam's a lot like that."
#Jets first-round pick Sam Darnold reminds his mother of his late grandfather Dick Hammer, a former U.S. Olympic volleyball player who was also the Marlboro Man. More from @DWAZ73: s:// pic.4UkYYa3Sfe— AP NFL (@AP_NFL) April 27, 2018
Hammer was 69 when he died in October 1999, just four months after Sam's second birthday. He played basketball at USC and helped lead the Trojans to the 1954 Final Four. Hammer picked up volleyball after his hoops days were over and ended up making the United States' 1964 Olympic volleyball team that competed in Tokyo. He was a captain in the L.A. County Fire Department and played Captain Dick Hammer — yep, named after himself — in the first season of the 1970's television drama "Emergency!" Hammer also landed a gig as the cowboy hat-wearing Marlboro Man in the cigarette company's advertising campaigns, despite not being a regular smoker. It is that innate ability to pick up anything and excel at it that Darnold's mom has always seen in her son, who was also a terrific basketball player in high school."An example was when (Sam) played in a volleyball tournament with my daughter, who was playing in college (at Rhode Island) at the time and she was missing out on a partner for co-ed doubles," Chris said. "He was all like, 'Uh, sure, OK, I'll go play some volleyball.' We're watching them play and they got to the playoffs and he's doing all these dinking serves and playing like he's been playing his whole life. That is a lot of what my Dad was like."Dick Hammer would certainly think his grandson is a chip off the old block. And, Darnold now has a chance to create his own legacy. The former USC star quarterback from Capistrano Beach, California, played just two seasons for the Trojans, but showed enough eye-popping ability as a playmaking passer to be rated by many as the No. 1 player at his position heading into the draft.Darnold is now tasked with helping lift a franchise that has been seeking a savior since the glory days of Joe Namath nearly 50 years ago. The Jets have been to just one Super Bowl — you know Tampa Bay Buccaneers Womens T-Shirt , the one Broadway Joe delivered after his guarantee in 1969. That's a lot of pressure for a kid who won't even turn 21 until June, but Darnold is becoming fully aware of what he's getting into."Winning a Super Bowl is everyone's goal entering a season, whether I'm a backup or whether I'm starting quarterback," he said. "Everyone on the team wants to win a Super Bowl. That's the goal for everyone. Anything short of that is a failure, and we're aware of that. Everyone's aware of that. And whatever my role is, I'm going to star in that role to work us toward that Super Bowl."Darnold already has a prominent place in Jets history, being the highest-drafted quarterback by the team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger."Getting that phone call, it changed my life," Darnold said. "I know it's going to change my life, and I'm very confident here that we're going to win some games, and I think I'm going to be here for a long time."Coach Todd Bowles said Thursday night after New York drafted Darnold that the team won't necessarily throw him into the fire, but also won't hold him back. That means the rookie could have a chance at starting if he can beat out veterans Josh McCown, the starter last year, and Teddy Bridgewater, who's still recovering from a knee injury that threatened his career nearly two years ago."There's a ton of room for growth, and that's the thing I'm really excited about," Darnold said. "Just being 20 years old, I know that there's a lot of room for growth, but I'm also very confident in my ability to go out there and play. But that being said, I'm going to do what the coaches ask me to do, and I'm going to come in here and learn right away and just go about it that way."NOTES: The Jets announced they released wide receiver-kick returner JoJo Natson, wide receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow, offensive tackle Korren Kirven and punter Ben Turk.

In the off-season , the Minnesota Vikings bade farewell to DT Tom Johnson. Johnson was one of the more under rated free agent signings in the Rick Spielman era, having four productive seasons with the team. Originally signed to be a backup to Shariff Floyd, Johnson took over the starting job when Floyd was hurt. In the off-season, the Vikings signed DT Sheldon Richardson from the Seahawks, and Johnson ended up signing with Seattle during free agency.Late last week, though, Seattle had to release Johnson, as they had a laundry list of injured players, and they needed to sign guys at other positions. To keep the roster at 53 players Youth Harrison Smith Jersey , Seattle released Johnson, with the intention of signing him back this week.Yeah, that ain’t happening now:The Vikings pulled another bit of a Poison Pill scenario on the Seahawks, signing him before Seattle could re-sign him. Now, Johnson adds to what I think is a legitimately monstrous rotation of players at every position. That still leaves unfinished business for the Vikings, as two players will have to be cut, with the impending signing of Dan Bailey looming. Either way, the only missing starter from last year’s defense is back, and it’s welcome news for everyone.Welcome back Tom Johnson , and if we ever make a movie out of this we’ll call it Poison Pill II: Sebatian Thunderbucket’s Johnson.Minnesota Vikings officially sign Dan Bailey, waive Stacy Coley On Tuesday afternoon, the Minnesota Vikings made official one of the moves that we first mentioned to you on Monday, and the corresponding move comes as a bit of a surprise.Minnesota has officially added kicker Dan Bailey to the roster. Bailey, who currently stands as the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history, was the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys from 2011 to 2017, but was released during the final cutdowns this preseason because, well, Jerry Jones wanted to get his kicker on the cheap. He’s apparently passed his physical and joined the Vikings on a one-year deal.To make room for Bailey Stefon Diggs Jersey , since the team cut Daniel Carlson yesterday, the Vikings waived second-year wide receiver Stacy Coley. Coley, a seventh-round pick of the Vikings in the 2017 NFL Draft, had been active for both of the Vikings’ games this season as the team’s #4 receiver. With the team adding receiver Aldrick Robinson yesterday, they still have five receivers on the main roster. The Coley move is a bit of a surprise. He was injured for much of Training Camp, and beat out quite a few other solid players to make the 53-man roster. I wouldn’t be surprised if the team brought him back to the practice squad. I also wouldn’t be surprised if another NFL team in need of receiver help picked him up. We’ll have to see how it shakes out.The Vikings will have to make one more roster move at some point today or tomorrow when the signing of defensive tackle Tom Johnson (which we mentioned earlier today as well) becomes official. It’s going to be interesting to see where the Vikings make room for Sebastian Thunderbucket, but when the news comes down we will have it for you.

The New York Giants crossed the 30-point threshold last week vs. the Carolina Panthers for the first time in 38 games Aldrick Rosas Jersey , including their 2016 playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers. That was a good step, but if the Giants are going to play consistently good offense they are going to have to find a way to limit the incredibly high number of negative plays they have been enduring.Against the Carolina Panthers the Giants had six negative runs in 15 attempts, four offensive penalties and a sack. That’s 11 negative plays in 60 potential snaps. For the season, the Giants now have 60 negative plays in 339 potential snaps — 17.6 percent. Here’s the breakdown:Sacks — 16Negative runs — 20Negative passes — 4Offensive penalties — 20The Giants, in fact, have league’s highest percentage of negative running plays. It’s hard to generate consistent offense, and score enough points, when one of every 5.7 plays goes backwards.Cool charts that tell a storyThe first two are from SB Nation’s Bill Connelly. The 5-foot-9, 163-pound third-year player had done well enough in spring and early training camp practices to put himself into consideration for the very available spot as the Giants starting slot corner. Then he had to watch as his teammates tried to take the opportunity away. B.W. Webb, Leonard Johnson, William Gay, Grant Haley and others all worked in the slot during Deayon’s absence.“Initially I was disappointed a little bit, like, man, why now,” Deayon said inside the Giants practice bubble on Tuesday afternoon. “I just knew I was going to be back. I thought it was going to be sooner than later, but it’s here now and now I’m ready to make the most of it.”When he was initially injured Aldrick Rosas Jersey , coach Pat Shurmur indicated Deayon was “fine” and would only miss a short period of time. That, obviously, did not turn out to be the case.“I was trusting the process, all the rehab. I knew the training staff was going to do a good job of cutting me loose when I was ready,” Deayon said.Deayon is back on the field, having returned to practice on Sunday. On Tuesday, it was apparent that the opportunity is still there for Deayon to earn the job as the team’s slot corner. During 7-on-7 red zone drills Deayon took reps with the first-team defense. During a situational drill at the end of practice, he intercepted a Davis Webb throw. The competition for cornerback spots still appears to be wide open.“I definitely think it’s still a competition at the end of the day and I’m putting my best foot forward,” Deayon said. “I think this is a big opportunity. Just gotta take it one day at a time and step up and be accountable and seize the moment.”With two preseason games remaining and less than two weeks until the Giants have to cut players to reach the 53-man roster limit, it would be logical to think Deayon feels pressure to make up for lost time. He insisted on Tuesday, though, that that is not the case.“No pressure. You know me, I’m excited, I love to do this. I’m just taking it one day at a time Authentic Rhett Ellison Jersey , one step at a time. Not looking forward right now, just trying to focus on each day,” he said.“I just want to build that trust, gain their trust and build that foundation by stacking good days. When you get hurt and you’re not on the field you can talk about it, but you can’t really show them. My main goal is to just each day just keep proving to them that I can do it.”Deayon has been trying to prove himself for three years now. An undrafted free agent out of Boise State, he landed on the practice squad in 2016, but finished the year on IR. He played in four regular-season games last season, but again ended the year on IR.“You get in those positions where it’s next man up and you want to be available to where you’re the next man up,” Deayon said. “I’ve been in that situation where when it was next man up I was also injured. One of the goals for me is to prove that I can play, I can stay on the field, I can be healthy and make plays.”Despite the three weeks on the sideline, the opportunity is still there for Deayon. We begin to find out if he can seize it on Friday vs. the New York Jets.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning spends his time on the field doing everything he can to get on the same page with his teammates. Tuesday Youth Eli Manning Jersey , he spent one-on-one time working with Odell Beckham Jr. both during and after practice.Off the field? The 37-year-old Manning isn’t exactly an old man but he is from a different generation than most of his teammates. So, how does he relate?“I do a lot of dancing,” Manning deadpanned on Tuesday afternoon.“I think I have a good relationship with all the guys, and I’m not trying to act like I’m 22, I act my age and make fun of myself a lot, and they add to it probably and so that’s fine. I’m good with that. Manning is known as a prankster, but said his teammates have grown wary, noting that the password on Beckham’s phone “isn’t 1313 anymore,” negating his famous change the language on the phone trick.“I have to regroup and find a new system,” he said.“You’ve got to have fun with them and connect with them. There’s times where it is serious and you’re talking ball, they always know by the way I approach them whether I have something serious to talk about, a route or a concept or something. There’s (also) times where we get to goof off and kind of get to know the lighter side of them.”Which brings us back to Manning and the dancing.“There’s a lot of dancing going on [in the locker room], a lot of dancing, which, I find very curious Color Rush Kareem Martin Jersey ,” Manning said. “The music, I miss out on some of the music and social media, some of the things they’re on. For the most part, I can figure it out.”Don’t worry, Eli. All the grand dads reading — yours truly included — can empathize.Giants-Jets “Kudos & Wet Willies” review OK, New York Giants fans! The Giants defeated the New York Jets 22-16 in preseason football Friday night, so let’s do what we do the morning after games when we have no regrets, but we do have opinions. It’s “Kudos & Wet Willies” time.Kudos to ...First-team OL pass protection — Eli Manning was comfortable in the pocket all night. He threw the ball 23 times, was never sacked and was hit just once. If the Giants can give him this kind of protection during the regular season, Manning is going to have a field day finding mismatches and delivering the ball.Eli Manning — Well, well. Look at this. A well-protected, comfortable Manning completed 17-of-23 passes for 188 yards. There were deep shots of 54 yards to Cody Latimer and 30 yards to Sterling Shepard. The Giants even moved the pocket a few times, asking Manning to throw while moving to both his left and his right.Jhurell Pressley — This is how you walk in off the street and make a strong first impression! Just signed on Monday because the absences of Saquon Barkley (hamstring), Jalen Simmons (concussion) and Robert Martin (leg) left the Giants with just two healthy running backs, Pressley had a game-high 71 yards rushing on 13 carries while playing the entire second half. The 24-year-old has bounced around the league on practice squads since 2016 and probably doesn’t have a realistic shot at a roster spot Authentic Riley Dixon Jersey , but you never know.Sterling Shepard — No Barkley. No Odell Beckham Jr. Evan Engram concussed. Shepard had a nice night with 7 receptions in 7 targets for 78 yards. Love the efficiency.Aldrick Rosas — The second-year placekicker is a preseason phenom. He went 4-for-4 on field goals ranging from 21 to 48 yards on Friday and is now 6-for-6 on field-goal attempts this preseason. Rosas went 8-for-8 last preseason, but followed that up with a not-so-good (18-of-25, 72 percent) regular season.Kerry Wynn — A sack. Two tackles for loss. A quarterback hit. Three tackles. Almost a spectacular diving interception. Wynn’s outstanding preseason continued Friday night.Ray-Ray Armstrong — The veteran linebacker impressed again. He threw a huge block on the 55-yard punt return touchdown by Hunter Sharp, then forced a fumble on a Jets kickoff return that led to a Giant field goal. The return game — Anemic during the first two games, that aspect of the game came alive for the Giants Friday. Sharp had that punt return touchdown and averaged 26.7 yards on three returns. Kalif Raymond averaged 16.3 yards on four returns, including a 35-yard return where he tightrope-walked down the sideline. Cody Latimer, returning kickoffs for the first time as a Giant, had a 23-yard kickoff return. By the way, a little credit to Michael Thomas and Eli Apple on Sharp’s touchdown. They rode the Jets gunner on that side, who tried to go down the middle, all the way to the other side of the field. That left Sharp a clear path he took advantage of.Wet Willies to ...Jonathan Stewart — What is there to say? The 31-year-old looked like an aging running back Friday night. He had 3 carries for -7 yards with his longest run going for a yard. He had a critical fumble on first-and-goal at the Jet 6-yard line. His nightmare preseason just got worse, and he now has 10 carries for -9 yards and a fumble. Let’s not overreact in preseason, but it’s fair to begin to wonder if there is any juice left in his legs after 10 season and 1,699 NFL regular-season carries.Run blocking — While Stewart was a disaster, Wayne Gallman fared only a tiny bit better Youth Evan Engram Jersey , gaining 8 yards on 6 carries (1.3 per attempt) with the first-team offensive line in the game. Three of the 11 runs between Stewart and Gallman in the first half went for negative yardage. That’s just not going to cut it, and you could tell from the reactions of Pat Shurmur and the linemen after the game that they know it. By the way, some will single out Patrick Omameh and wonder if his starting job is in jeopardy. I doubt that’s the case, but the veteran guard does need to play better.Red zone offense — The Giants got into the red zone three times in the first half. They came away with a fumble and two field goals. Six point out of a possible 21 isn’t going to cut it. By the way, the scariest part of Stewart’s fumble. Watching Manning run down the field trying to both influence the return to prevent a touchdown and also not get hit by a horde of potential Jets blockers. Thank goodness the green shirts all chose to leave the veteran quarterback alone.B.W. Webb — The starting slot corner was beaten badly across the field by Terrelle Pryor on a 12-yard touchdown pass. I don’t want to overreact to one play, but that wasn’t good at all.Kwillies to ...Hunter Sharp — Why is Sharp down here after his terrific night returning punts? Well, because as good as he was returning those punts he was equally as bad as a wide receiver. He knew it, too. “It’s honestly hard for me even to be happy about the touchdown because I have high expectations for myself,” Sharp said after the game. “Honestly, I just have to bounce back and keep working.”Sharp had no receptions on three targets. He dropped two third-down passes from Manning that woulda-coulda-shoulda resulted in first downs. With the Giants at the Jets 16-yard line after Armstrong forced a fumble, Sharp and Manning appeared to miscommunicate on a throw to the end zone. Sharp broke to the middle, while Manning threw to the corner. Let’s not put Sharp on the 53-man roster just yet.

von liny195 07.11.2018 07:57 , Basile waived; RB Pressley, LB Long added [UPDATED 4:30 p.m.] The Giants also made a second pair of moves on Monday. The waived safety Mike Basile, a rookie undrafted free agent just signed two weeks ago, and added linebacker Warren Long.Long, 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds, joined the Seattle Seahawks on May 4 as an undrafted rookie from Northwestern. He was waived on Aug. 11. Long had two solo tackles in Seattle’s preseason opener vs. Indianapolis. Long was a running back his first three seasons (2013-15) at Northwestern. He was injured on his first carry in 2016, and missed the rest of the season. The following offseason, he became a linebacker. Playing primarily as a backup and special teamer , Long had 21 tackles (14 solo), three tackles for losses and 1.0 sack. The New York Giants have reportedly waived linebacker Thurston Armbrister with an injury designation. Armbrister has been dealing with a hamstring injury since early in training camp and hasn’t practiced since the beginning of August. With small injuries piling up elsewhere on the roster, the team couldn’t afford to wait any longer for Armbrister to get back on the field. After waiving Armbrister, the team immediately put the open roster spot to use, signing running back Jhurell Pressley. Pressley was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2016, and has bounced around the league since. He has spent time on the Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons , and Jacksonville Jaguars since coming in to the league. Pressley was regarded as a productive and athletic “change of pace” running back coming out of college, with remarkable speed and quickness. Pressley recorded 1,990 yards (7.85 yards per carry) and 23 touchdowns over his last two seasons at New Mexico, and was timed at 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 6.92 in the 3-cone drill and 4.06 in the short shuttle at New Mexico’s pro day. The Giants are short on running backs with Saquon Barkley nursing a strained hamstring and Jalen Simmons in the concussion protocol. The team used receiver Kalif Raymond as a running back in practice Sunday afternoon, so adding a running back isn’t a surprising move. We’ll have to see if Pressley can capitalize on his opportunity.Giants-Panthers final score: Giants beaten, 33-31, on 63-yard Graham Gano field goal The New York Giants have seen this movie before. A game-ending 63-yard field goal by Graham Gano gave the Carolina Panthers a 33-31 victory over the Giants on Sunday. This was all too reminiscent of last season’s Week 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles , when Jake Elliott beat the Giants with a last-second 61-yard kick. Talk about a gut punch. The Giants fought back from a 27-16 fourth-quarter deficit to nearly win the game. Trailing 30-24 with 2:16 left after a Graham Gano field goal, Eli Manning took the Giants 75 yards in four plays for the game-winning score. A 40-yard pass to Russell Shepard with 1:27 left put the Giants at the Carolina 15-yard line. One play later, Manning hit Saquon Barkley for a 15-yard catch-and-run touchdown with Barkley leaping into the end zone with 1:08 left. Aldrick Rosas’ extra point gave the Giants the lead.Carolina drove 30 yards in 8 plays to get into position for Gano’s game-winning kick. The game marked the first time the Giants have scored at 30 points since the final game of the 2015 season, ending a streak of 37 games.Manning completed 22-of-36 passes for 326 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.. Odell Beckham caught 8 passes for 133 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Beckham caught a 33-yard touchdown pass and threw a 57-yard scoring pass to Barkley on a trick play. Barkley ran 15 times for 48 yards and caught 4 passes for 81 yards and 2 TDs. He became the third rookie in NFL history to have 100 or more yards from scrimmage in his first five NFL games. The Giants fall to 1-4. Carolina is 3-1.Moments that matteredBECKHAM’S INTERVIEW: Think of it what you will, the interview with Josina Anderson of ESPN is a huge part of the story for the Giants today.AGAIN? HOW? A year after losing a game on a 61-yard last-second field goal by Jake Elliott of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants lost on a 63-yard last-play-of-the-game kick by Graham Gano. That’s the second-longest in NFL history. That’s a bad dream, right? Not reality?OOPS!: Carolina got a first-quarter touchdown when Beckham , returning punts, tried to throw a block on a Panthers coverage player. The ball hit him, the Panthers recovered for a touchdown. IF YOU CAN’T CATCH ‘EM: ...: It’s been obvious that the Giants have needed more big plays in the passing game. Beckham got them their biggest of the season by throwing a 57-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley off a second-quarter trick play.PICK-FEST: Manning and Cam Newton each threw a pair of second-half interceptions. Manning was picked off by Carolina defensive back Mike Adams both times. Curtis Riley and Janoris Jenkins each had interceptions of Newton.UNNECESSARY ROUGHESS?: After the Giants had appeared to stop the Panthers, breaking up a third-down pass for Devin Funchess on third-and-13, Michael Thomas was called for helmet-to-helmet contact. That gave Carolina a first down at the Giants’ 44-yard line and led to a game-changing 18-yard touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey that gave Carolina a 27-16 lead with 11:21 to play.BECKHAM FINALLY SCORES: The Giants got within three when Beckham split a double team and hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Manning with 8:08 left. The touchdown was Beckham’s first of the season. A Janoris Jenkins interception gave the Giants the ball at Carolina’s 34-yard line. A 2-point conversion pass to Rhett Ellison brought the Giants within three, 27-24.BARKLEY GOES FOR 129: That’s total yards, making it the fifth straight game he has surpassed 100. That makes him only the third player in NFL history to have 100 or more yards from scrimmage in his first five games. What’s next? The Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles this week on Thursday Night Football.

Cheap Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey ,’ report has it as mid-ankle sprain, MRI negative Pat’s Update ( #2): Matt Maiocco is reporting the MRI came back negative. It’s looking more like a mid-ankle sprain. This is good. Fooch’s update (#1): Matt Maiocco is reporting the injury is a mid-to-high ankle sprain and Breida will undergo an MRI on Monday. Maiocco tweeted, “He may not play next week, as the team wants to give it time to heal and not be something that bothers him throughout the rest of the season.”After losing both Jerick McKinnon and Jimmy Garoppolo to season ending injuries, one of the bright spots for the 49ers offense has been been running back Matt Breida. He led the league in rushing yards and yards per carry through he first three weeks. He has battled injuries throughout the first five weeks but came back and started the game facing the Cardinals with a bang 49ers Adrian Colbert Jersey , with 56 yards on eight carries giving him and average of seven yards per carry. In the last play of the first quarter a Cardinal defensive player landed awkwardly on Breida’s left leg. He limped off the field with a lot of assistance from the training staff and Kyle Juszczyk. Later, trainers taped up both of Breida’s ankles and he tested the stability of them near the bench area and looked to be wanting to get back into the game. He walked to the locker room during the second quarter without favoring his injured foot, but he never returned to the game. At first look, it appeared that the staff was looking at Breida’s knee. He explained that he didn’t know what was hurt at first because his leg was numb. He added that he always wants to go back into the game but that it’s a long season and they needed to think long term. Thankfully the x-rays came back negative and although he left the locker room in a waling boot, there is a possibility that he could return for the team’s Monday Nigh Match up in Green Bay.Kyle Shanahan on the toughness and ability: Breida on what the team has to do moving forward:49ers may have stumbled onto something with Greg Mabin The San Francisco 49ers defense gave up a lot of key plays against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The lack of tackling fundamentals was nothing short of maddening and the pass-rush was atrocious Cheap Mike McGlinchey Jersey , as is becoming tradition. One shining light to stand out was cornerback Greg Mabin. Mabin played 29 snaps in relief of Ahkello Witherspoon and later Jimmie Ward after the latter was benched, but he had some great highlights on the day. The most memorable being when he punched out the ball from Melvin Gordon’s hands. Unfortunately, the ensuing fumble was recovered by a player out of bounds, so no dice. Outside of the fumble, Mabin was targeted five times and allowed two receptions for 18 yards. This Cheap Fred Warner Jersey , along with the fumble was enough to put Mabin Pro Football Focus’ Week 4 Team of the Week with a 89.2 ranking, joining fellow teammate tight end George Kittle. Here’s what PFF had to say about Mabin on the team: 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was also pleased with Mabin’s performance and went into detail on the cornerback at Monday’s press conference: This is just one game, but the 49ers may have stumbled onto something with Mabin. They have had issues at the cornerback position, mostly due to players being healthy. If Mabin is not a starting cornerback (which we will find out in the coming weeks) he definitely could provide solid depth for the position which would let the 49ers focus on other positions (like a pass rusher) come draft time in 2019.
