Joe Schmidt has ruled himself out of joining Warren Gatlands British and Irish Lions coaching set-up for next summers New Zealand tour. Cheap Basketball Jerseys Store .?Lions head coach Gatland this week admitted there could be potential for Ireland boss Schmidt to join his backroom staff for the 2017 All Blacks battle. But Schmidt has instead opted to focus on Ireland, intent on leading his nations summer tour to the USA and Japan.Gatland is widely tipped to take Andy Farrell to New Zealand as defence coach, and Schmidt said he would be delighted for Irelands assistant to join his second-successive Lions tour.A big part of the motivation for me not being involved in the Lions was going to the USA and Japan and working with this next cadre of players, said Schmidt, ahead of Irelands autumn Test against Canada in Dublin on Saturday. The best of our players will go on the Lions and the more the better. That would be fantastic and hopefully a few more will put their hands up for Warren Gatland on Saturday. But the ones that dont go, they will become a really interesting group for us.And for me, I want to make sure I get to know those guys. And getting away on tour is one of the best ways to do it.Ireland boss Schmidt was initially considered out of contention for Lions duty when his long-term future remained up in the air. Schmidt only last month signed a new contract with Ireland, committing until after the 2019 World Cup.The 51-year-old Kiwi had seriously weighed a return to New Zealand for a Super Rugby coaching berth, with family considerations leading to a protracted deliberation period.Schmidts decision to stay in Ireland had reopened the opportunity to join the Lions coaching staff, but the former Clermont and Leinster coach has quickly - but politely - shut that down once again. The situation has only changed availability-wise because I have extended, said Schmidt of his new contract altering the complexion. I didnt decide to take up the option of a break clause at the end of June. The contract was there anyway. It was just that there was a break clause that I didnt opt for. It meant that therefore I was available. I thought even in South Africa (Irelands three-Test tour in June), those three weeks we had getting to know everyone, you start to assess whatever further development players may have. What the ceiling may be for them, and where the progress may extend out to. You are always trying to make those decisions. Its hard to make those decisions if you are not there. While Schmidt has moved himself out of the Lions frame, the Ireland boss handed his assistant coach Farrell enthusiastic blessing to tour New Zealand if his services are requested.Gatland has already been clear he wants continuity from the coaching group that claimed a Test series win in Australia in 2013, with Farrell the leading contender to reprise his defence duties some four years on from that triumph over the Wallabies.Schmidts subtraction from the Lions equation could also edge Glasgows Scotland-bound coach Gregor Townsend closer to an attacking remit in Gatlands backroom line-up.I would be delighted if Andy went, said Schmidt, of Farrell. Firstly, because he is a tremendous coach and he does a fantastic job. And it would also mean that Andy would keep a bit of an eye on our guys.It is certainly one collective but he will be able to give us a bit of feedback on how our guys are going there. So we would have both bases covered there. That would be quite nice but those will be decisions that are not mine to make. Jerseys NBA China . -- The Magic have their first victory of the new year. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Its been the Olympic Games where British history has been made in so many sports, on so many levels. Cheap Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys .?Now Team GBs womens hockey team has joined the party.Putting their bodies on the line for a 3-0 win over New Zealand in the unforgiving Brazilian humidity, Britains women reached their first ever Olympic final. There will be no let up as they chase what would be the most incredible of gold medals on Friday against the Netherlands and the brilliant Alex Dansons message was equal in focus: We wont change a thing. They are now unbeaten in seven matches here and brimming with confidence but there will be bruised bodies on Thursday.Faces were on the wrong end of sticks, chins were battered -- Georgie Twiggs injury was dismissed by her as taking one for the team afterwards with her inflamed lip testament to safety being placed second behind the overall effort. It was this unwavering focus, this resilience that saw them shut out the misfiring Black Sticks to book a final with back-to-back Olympic champions the Netherlands. From goalkeeper Maddie Hinch to the talismanic Danson -- who scored twice -- to the rangy, dangerous Twigg to the steady Kate Richardson-Walsh, the performances were heroic.Forced to defend for the middle section of the game with New Zealand hammering away at their goal, Britains defence was astonishing -- though they were let off the hook when New Zealands Petrea Webster fired wide having had far more time to weigh up her options with just Hinch to beat.I am so proud of this team but defensively we have been absolutely outstanding at this tournament and I mean that as a whole unit, Danson said. We are tight: no one can come through us. I dont think I have ever seen a team defend like that in our circle. And from this platform they forced the 1-0 lead in the first period through Dansons deflected shot before closing it out in the final quarter thanks to penalty strokes from Helen Richardson-Walsh and the brilliant Danson. It all came down to processes. Though reaching the final is uncharted water for Britain, they knew what to do in every phase of the game -- how to shut out the dangerous Kiwi attackers and how to capitalise on attacking territory when opportunity allowed. But celebrations will be kept to a minimum.?We are going for gold, nothing else, said Twigg. External influences and voices are completely blocked out, to the extent the team have a self-imposed social media ban.We decided as a squad that we want people to see us for what we are and thats tight and as a unit, Danson said. We will share our stories once the Games are over but for now its about concentrating, being together and having no interest elsewhere and focusing just on what we are doing. And this is why, despite them already making a slice of British hockey history, they wont be carried away.As soon as we won there, it was a case of one more, one more, Hinch said. Were not going to rest on our laurels; were going to make sure we give absolutely everything to get that medal. I have a good feeling. It all boils down to what will be another physical 60 minutes against the Netherlands. They know their opponents well and will take confidence from a 1-0 series win over two matches in June. It will be a case of facing familiar foes in an unfamiliar environment on Friday, but you sense they are ready for anything the Netherlands throw at them.We are getting better and better every game and its so exciting over what we can pull out in the final on Friday, Hinch said. Its all about momentum for us and we are getting better and better. Hopefully we will pull out our best performance on Friday. Cheap Cleveland Browns Jerseys . Cheap New York Giants Jerseys . -- In one brief spurt, Brazil turned a close game into a rout and proved again it will be a strong World Cup favourite. . The head of USA Boxing came out swinging Tuesday with an open letter to Tyson -- a former Olympic hopeful himself -- that accuses the former heavyweight champion of trying to poach fighters who might be candidates for the U. Eoin Morgan, and any other players still uncertain over whether to tour Bangladesh, have until Saturday to make up their minds with Andrew Strauss, the team director, saying there can be no guarantees given to anyone who relinquishes their place.Morgan has been among the players with the most reservations about the trip but Strauss, who had called for a full-strength squad to commit to the tour as soon as it was given the green light last week, reiterated that he would absolutely want both Englands captains to undertake the Test and ODI legs of the trip.Alastair Cook has given private assurances that he will lead the Test side, but Morgans uncertainty seems set to linger into the weekend when Englands central- and incremental- contracted players gather for two days of end-of-season fitness assessments and appraisals.Over the course of those two days, Strauss will ask for a yes or no over a players willingness to be available for the Bangladesh tour, with the squad now due to be named at the end of next week. The announcement has been pushed back to give players more time after the conclusion of the series against Pakistan.Though Strauss did not issue any ultimatums - the ECBs stance continues to be that touring is an individual choice - he did acknowledge that being captain brings other responsibilitiesWould I like both our captains to be on that tour? Absolutely, definitely, Strauss said. The captain has certain roles and responsibilities that are greater than just looking after themselves. He obviously has a duty to the team. But theyre still human beings - and I think thats an important point to make. They have their own thoughts, concerns, issues and views on life - and weve got to understand that.I cant force anyone onto that plane. I cannot literally force people up the steps and say you have to go to Bangladesh. People have their own decisions to make.Though Strauss insisted he was not delivering any ultimatums, Morgan may nevertheless wish to consider the subtext in his comments. Writing in the Daily Telegraph last week, Kevin Pietersen - who was faced with a similar situation during his time as England captain in India in 2008-09 - warned that Morgan would have a red cross against his name in ECB circles if he refused to make the trip. When the going gets touggh for him in the future, with the team losing, or a run of personal low scores, then he will find that the loyalty from his bosses will not be the same because he went against them, Pietersen wrote. Cheap Carolina Panthers Jerseys. . That is just the way it is. In the end it will come back to haunt him.Alex Hales, another player reported to be uncertain about the tour, has previously said how it is a difficult decision because you are forgoing your place in the side. This is especially true of someone such as Hales, who is struggling to cling to his Test berth, while there are an abundance of young players striving to get in the one-day side even if Hales has just become Englands individual record-holder in ODIs.I think, at its most simple, the big consequence for not going is you are giving someone else an opportunity to step into your shoes and stake a claim for themselves, Strauss said.Thats just the same as if someone gets injured, you are out of possession of that spot in the team for a certain period of time, and if someone does really well then you cant give any guarantees. But thats a choice people have to make themselves, and they have to weigh up all sorts of different things when they come to this decision. Everyone has a different attitude to risk, different thoughts about what their priorities in life are. Thats fine - thats their decision.Strauss stopped short of saying that a players decision on the Bangladesh tour would affect their position for the India leg, a situation more relevant to the Test team where the seven matches in Bangladesh and India are being seen in their entirety, but again encouraged them to take heed of the security assessment put together which got the tour approved.Im very assured by the report that Reg gave to me and translated to the players. But everyone will look at that and take their own observations, Strauss said. Im still very hopeful that everyone gets on that plane because I believe the security plan we have in place mitigates the risk to an acceptable level.I genuinely believe that and that is why Im encouraging every player to use that incredibly detailed and experienced view point from Reg to make a judgement. cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

The dawn of a new Premier League season brings new challenges for every club, but forSouthampton it seems some old difficulties pop up every year. The Saints once again enter the campaign with some glaring questions that need to be answered, namely, how will a new manager on the south coast fare? And how will the club cope with losing more high-profile players to bigger clubs? These questions will begin to be answered on Saturday when the Saints welcome Watford to the St. Marys Stadium.Southampton finished in sixth place last season with 63 points, good for a spot in the Europa League group stage this term, however, for a club that has had their best seasons over the past few years, it will be interesting to see how the extra midweek fixtures affect their domestic performance.Former manager Ronald Koeman was outstanding for the Saints during his tenure, but his shock departure for the greener pastures of Everton left a sizable void along the touch line which was ultimately filled by Frenchman Claude Puel, who guided Nice to a Champions League berth in Ligue 1.Claude has a track record of improving the situations he has been presented with, Southampton executive director of football Les Reed said, and we are confident he can repeat this at Southampton.Puel will have another rebuilding job on his hands at St. Marys as the club has lost goal-scoring leader Sadio Mane to Liverpool, midfielder Victor Wanyama to Tottenham and Graziano Pelle to China. On the arrivals side, the club signed Norwich winger Nathan Redmond for 11 million pounds, Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for 12.8 million and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy from Crystal Palace for 4 million. The tactical shift from a 4-3-3 under Koeman to a more non-traditional 4-1-3-2 under Puel will also be an adjustment that will take time to be ironed out.I hope that its a possibility in the future for Southampton to play in the Champions League, but its important to improve with these players, Puel said. They know the high level with the Europa League and I hope with thhe Champions League for the future. Cheap College Jerseys Authentic. Its going to be a tough season, obviously, defender Virgil van Dijk told the clubs officialYouTube channel. Every team I think gets stronger every season and its going to be tough, but we know what were capable of and, personally, I look forward to every competition were inand hopefully we can achieve some special things. After a successful Premier League campaign which saw Watford survive the drop and finish mid-table in 13th with 45 points, the Hornets look to build on their relative success this term, but they will also have to do it with a new manager on the touch line.Walter Mazzarri takes charge following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores, who did quite well to keep his club in the top flight with the help of forward tandem Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.Deeney, the subject of a 25 million pound bid from champions Leicester City earlier in the summer, returned to Watford by signing a new five-year deal, while Ighalo will also return to lead the line at Vicarage Road. Its very important because when you go to a club you ask for some information and then they tell you here that Troy Deeney is the leader of Watford, Mazzarri said of his captain signing a new deal. He loves the Watford shirt and that for us is very important. Hes the captain and the leader of the team. The club also brought in Isaac Success from Granada and wing backs Juan Zuniga and Brice Dja Djedje as the club transitions to a 3-5-2. Christian Kabasele has also arrived from Genk in a 6 million pound deal and is expected to take up a slot in the back-three.I know we have a very difficult start, but it also means that I am very curious to see how my players will be able to cope and fight against these teams, Mazzarri said at his first press conference. I have always been a very positive person so well see how it goes on the pitch and then we will accept whatever comes out of it. cheap falcons jerseys cheap ravens jerseys cheap bills jerseys cheap bears jerseys cheap bengals jerseys cheap cowboys jerseys cheap lions jerseys cheap texans jerseys cheap colts jerseys cheap jaguars jerseys cheap chiefs jerseys cheap rams jerseys cheap dolphins jerseys cheap vikings jerseys cheap saints jerseys cheap giants jerseys cheap jets jerseys cheap eagles jerseys cheap steelers jerseys cheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '

The Rams’ win over the Seahawks on Sunday just about wrapped up the NFC West.Although Los Angeles hasn’t actually clinched the division Arizona Cardinals Womens Hoodie , the Rams now have a 4.5-game lead and the head-to-head tiebreaker. There’s no realistic path to the division title for the Seahawks. However, the Rams actually don’t control their own destiny for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Saints are half a game behind the Rams but would own the head-to-head tiebreaker if they both finish 15-1.But that’s a long way off. Here’s how the playoff picture looks after Week 10:LEADERS1. Wrangling the Rams: Blueprint for an upset Week 1 was a rough one for the Redbirds Youth Budda Baker Jersey , and it doesn’t get any easier in Week 2 with a trip to L.A. to take on the new power in the NFC West. After what happened last week at State Farm Stadium, it should come as no surprise that the Redbirds are big underdogs against the Rams on Sunday.I think most Cardinals fans already have this game written off as a loss, but is an upset possible? Well, the Raiders showed it just might be on Monday night. Yes, the final score was ugly, but remember that the Raiders were actually up at the half and that it was a one-score game until about halfway through the 4th quarter. So if Chucky and the Raiders can hang with the Rams, who’s to say Wilks and the Redbirds can’t? After watching a bit of Raiders/Rams tape (and trying my hardest to forget what I saw of the Cardinals last week), I started to see what the blueprint for an upset in L.A. might look like. Let’s go through the offense, defense, and special teams and see what would need to go right to get this team a monumental divisional win.Passing OffenseThe Raiders obviously had success throwing to the TE (Jared Cook went 9/180), but had almost no success throwing to anyone else. Derek Carr had 18 completions for 103 yards to his backs and receivers—good for a putrid 5.7 YPA. This鈥?does not bode well for the Cardinals. Outside of Larry Fitzgerald, the Redbirds have an even weaker WR corps than the Raiders, and Ricky Seals-Jones is a poor man’s Jared Cook on his best day (and Jared Cook is not a rich man in this metaphor). He can’t be counted on for anything close to the numbers that Cook put up, but I do imagine he’ll be more involved in the game plan than last week.Carr did have 13 completions to his backs though. While most were of the checkdown variety, there may be some easy yards there for David Johnson if the Cardinals’ O-line has trouble with the Rams’ pass rush (and they will). Speaking of the O-line, dumb penalties and sacks will have to be kept to a bare minimum. All that said, an upset in the Coliseum likely won’t be powered by the arm of Sam Bradford. The Rams want you to throw so their D-line can pin their ears back and rush the QB and their talented secondary can get their hands on the ball. If Bradford is throwing a bunch on Sunday, I don’t like our chances—either it’ll be because we fell behind multiple scores again or Mike McCoy truly doesn’t know the talent on this roster. The key will be lots of safe throws to Fitz (although most throws to Fitz are safe), a few seam throws to RSJ, and plenty of action in the passing game for DJ. High-percentage passes, rather than going for big plays Cheap Christian Kirk Jersey , and, obviously, no picks is the recipe here.Key Stat: 30 attempts. If Bradford has many more attempts than this, something will have gone awry.Rushing OffenseThe Raiders RBs had a moderately successful day running the ball on Monday night—20 carries for 85 yards, good for a 4.3 YPC. Not world-beating numbers, but generally effective. But they went away from the run in the second half, getting pass happy even though the game was still close until the final 10 minutes. They attempted only 5 runs in the second half before a garbage-time drive when the outcome had already been decided.Sound familiar? It’s basically the script the Cardinals followed last week. The team can’t afford to do the same thing this week. Go down a touchdown? Keep running the ball. Two touchdowns? Keep running the ball. Three touchdowns? Keep DJ involved. That’s just what you have to do when your best player is a running back. Now, I’m not saying to pound the ball futilely into Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, and Co. over and over, but our game plan has to be built around David Johnson. He can’t touch the ball just 14 times again. The only way we win this game is if DJ has a big day—and you know he’s capable of doing it.Key Stat: 25 touches. If we can get DJ at least this many touches, we’ll have a shot. Closer to 30 would be even better.Passing DefenseThis phase of the game is, to me, the key to the upset. If we can contain Jared Goff (imagine saying that 2 years ago鈥?, we’ll be right there in it. But this is a tough, innovating passing attack to stop, one that uses everything from delayed HB screens and WR bubble screens to designed rollouts and deep bombs off play-action. The Raiders weren’t really able to stop any of it as Goff put up an efficient 74.2 QBR.Our secondary is much stronger than theirs, however. Our CBs generally held Washington’s WRs in check—but then, Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods are much more talented than Washington’s WR corps. Cooks especially gave the Raiders fits—5 receptions for 87 yards and two huge PI penalties (totaling another 87 yards). I expect Patrick Peterson and Ben茅 Benwikere to do their jobs and lock down two of those guys when they throw downfield (and hopefully pick off at least one pass) Youth Robert Nkemdiche Jersey , while the third figures to have a big day against likely weak link Jamar Taylor. As long as Chandler Jones and the pass rush can get home on some of the long-developing pass plays they run, we can live with Taylor getting beat once or twice. But what worries me is stopping their horizontal passing game, especially when they throw to their RBs. Washington’s less-talented RBs absolutely gouged us last week, and if we’re going to pull off the upset, we’re going to need to contain Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown in the passing game. We really need guys like Tre Boston and Deone Bucannon (or, potentially, Haason Reddick) to step up this week. Hopefully Wilks and Holcomb coached these guys up in practice this week.Key Stat: 0 pass interference penalties. If they beat us through the air once or twice, fine, but to win, we can’t give away yards.Rushing DefenseThis phase is fairly simple. Gurley is going to get his. But they key is making him work for his yards. That means setting the edge and not letting him break for big gains off tackle, as team speed on defense has been an issue since preseason. We need our OLBs and CBs (especially Peterson) to funnel everything back to our DTs and Josh Bynes (a bright spot last week) in the middle of the field, forcing Gurley to grind out yards up the middle. And, needless to say, wrapping up when you get your arms on him is a must—no missed tackles.Key Stat:4.0 YPC. If we can hold the Rams under this number, the defense will have done its job. We were actually close last week against Washington, but Chris Thompson really hurt us on his 5 carries. Hopefully Brown doesn’t do the same this week in a similar role.Special TeamsIf we manage to pull off the upset, special teams will have played a huge role. Teams were a strength last week, but the Rams are even stronger in this phase than we are on our best day with the leg strength and accuracy of Greg Zuerlein and Johnny Hekker, as well as dangerous return man Pharoh Cooper (update: Cooper was put on the IR). We’ll have to hope we can at least play to a draw in this phase, with Phil Dawson hitting all his kicks, Andy Lee flipping the field Cheap Josh Rosen Jersey , and Christian Kirk breaking another big return—because you know their Rams counterparts are going to do just that. We’ll more than likely need one more big play than them—a blocked kick, a muffed punt recovery, a return into plus territory. Thankfully, this phase looks much improved from years past for the Redbirds.Key Stat: 0 missed FGs. If we have a chance to come away with points, we can’t leave empty-handed.Final ThoughtsThe odds are long, but that doesn’t mean we have to automatically write this game off as a loss. I mean, no one saw the Bucs beating the Saints last week, right? But a lot of things will have to go our way. Here’s the TL;DR version:Bradford needs to play smart, efficient football. He doesn’t need to put up big numbers for us to pull off this upset. We do need DJ to put up big numbers though—something like 150+ total yards on 25+ touches. The offensive gameplan has to go through him.Our CBs need to contain their downfield passing game without committing any big penalties, while hoping our LBs/safeties can limit the damage in the short passing game. Make them dink and dunk.Todd Gurley is going to get his yards, but we need to make him work for them. Keeping him at or under 4.0 YPC is key. Finally, we need to play to a draw on special teams—and have one big play go our way.If we’re talking about a massive Redbirds upset on Monday morning, it’ll be because all or most of these things happened. But if we’re talking about Bradford’s inefficiency, a porous run D, and penalties again, there’s no doubt this team will be heading home 0-2 and in need of some serious soul searching. Patrick Mahomes failed to pass for 300 yards for the first time since the season opener. He failed to throw for more than two touchdowns for only the third time all season and the first time since Oct. 7 against the Jaguars. But the Chiefs quarterback continued to set records.Mahomes set the team’s single-season record for touchdowns, breaking the old mark of 30 held by Len Dawson for 54 years. Mahomes’ two touchdowns in the 26-14 victory over the Cardinals give him 31 in 10 games.Mahomes completed 21 of 28 passes for 249 yards. The Chiefs, now 9-1, have won four in a row since their only loss. They play the Rams in a highly anticipated game in Mexico City before their bye week.An illegal block above the waist on Demetrius Harris wiped away an 82-yard punt return by Tyreek Hill in the fourth quarter. It was the only thing that stopped Hill all day.He had one rush for 20 yards and seven catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Kareem Hunt rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries.David Johnson allowed the Cardinals to hang around, rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. He also caught seven passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.Josh Rosen was 22-of-39 for 208 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

In all three phases of football , the Cardinals’ coaches are not making the necessary adjustments or making maximum use of their personnel.Look, I am just a long-time fan and a former high school head coach. Could my knowledge of football translate over to what is ailing the Arizona Cardinals? Probably not. But, I am going to try to give this the best shot I can.Sign up for FanPulse, our weekly Cardinals surveyThe first person I would let go is GM Steve Keim. At this point, Cardinals’ fans know all the positives and negatives of Keim’s tenure as GM. The present reality is that his vision for sustained success is not bearing fruit. The team has lost its most important asset—-the 12th man. Last night was an Orange Sea, not a Red Sea—-and there were whole sections of empty seats. I think Terry McDonough deserves a chance as interim GM. Michael Bidwill seemed to embrace having greater involvement in the wheelings and dealings when Keim was absent. That might be a good thing. Plus, Mike Disner, imo, as Director of Football Operation is a savvy pro and a long-term keeper. I would also like to see Adrian Wilson become Terry McDonough’s player personnel assistant during this interim. I know A-Dub bleeds Cardinal red.In a symbolic sense, I think it would best to let Steve Keim go first—-like today—-and then let Mike McCoy, Keim’s hand-picked OC, go on Saturday. McCoy’s fate may have already been sealed—-but if not—-starting the game with ANOTHER dive up the middle to David Johnson, an embarrassing timeout on the second play, and then ANOTHER get rid of the ball as fast as you can pass on 2nd down, which the Broncos’ defense was fully expecting, which led to a tipped pass pick six and the start of an avalanche of poor plays. In McCoy’s place , we go with Byron Leftwich, who appears to have a very good rapport with Josh Rosen—-and in unison with Rosen and OL coach Ray Brown, they can give the offense a spark by modernizing a more creative attack, one in which it doesn’t take 7 games and being behind 42-3 to finally throw to David Johnson out of the slot.On Saturday, I would also relieve RB coach Kirby Wilson of his duties and replace him with offensive assistant Cameron Turner. Not only are the Cardinals’ RBs woefully under-performing last night we saw yet AGAIN a few of the more feeble attempt to chip block on DEs than one would see even at the Pop Warner level. One whiff after another—-and they haven’t even been coached to wait until the DE commits to his path, to then lower the block, as the RBs are just running in the DEs direction and then trying to throw a last second shoulder at them. It’s bad football and it is inexcusable. Plus the team’s most electric kickoff returner and fastest RB to the hole, T.J. Logan, is languishing on the inactive list. That too is inexcusable. I would like to see Leftwich employ some slight pocket shifts for Rosen. They can double down with the TE on the play side DE and snap the ball to Rosen from the shotgun and his him shift the pocket to the edge of the box—-which buys him more time from the backside DE, whom the RB could help out on if need be. That—-and get a full array of bootlegs and waggles in for Rosen. Moving him around, imo, will help his productivity and cut down on the number of hits he is taking. Take advantage of Rosen’s feet. As for the defensive side of the ball, it irked me to no end to see Steve Wilks primarily blame the offense for what transpired last night—-and then praise his defense for holding the Broncos to a FG late in the game. The fact is—-you CANNOT win in the NFL trying to defend the run from an undersized nickel defense—-and you CANNOT win in the NFL playing soft zones. You CANNOT win in the NFL by never setting hard edges—-and you HAVE to make sure your FS stays on top of the deepest threat. Add to that some pitiful tackling efforts and this defense deserves to be right where it is—-at the bottom of the NFL.And NO, James Bettcher’s defense was not a Top 6 defense, not anywhere close. We will know when the Cardinals’ defense has become legit when the edges are finally set and they are not asking the safeties and CBs to play contain. Thus, I think that Coach Wilks has warranted an ultimatum. Either you start employing a standard base defense that is far better equipped to set hard edges and to defense the run and to play stickyman coverage with over the top FS help , or you will be relieved of your job after the last game. Wilks cannot get away with trying to spend the whole year in the nickel. We have to be able to see how he and Al Holcomb can coach a base defense. At this point there has to be a disconnect between Wilks and Steve Keim and even Michael Bidwill—-wasn’t he hired to be able to coach up players with “different personalities”? Well, last night there were more Cardinals first rounders and high draft picks on the pine than ever before, even under BA. They are being termed “not a fit for the system.” Well, no other team runs a nickel as its “system.” This MUST change and there has to be signs of progress with the high draft picks.I also believe that STs coach, Jeff Rodgers, has warranted an ultimatum—-start playing the best players (T.J. Logan) and get rid of the yellow flaggers (Williams, Taylor and Peterson). The Broncos were pooch kicking to Williams because they saw on tape that he is not a threat and has trouble advancing the ball past the 20. The team has been losing the field position battle for weeks now. This is almost getting Amos Jones bad.As for the team’s personnel, we are going to need to add a couple of guards asap. Weird that they just cut Will House who they’ve been coaching for several months. At least he knows the play calls. They have to put RG Justin Pugh on the IR and they should open up a roster spot by releasing QB Sam Bradford (the highest paid coach on the team). There is NO point in keeping him. Promote Chad Kanoff from the PS, which they should have done with FS Darian Thompson before he was wooshed away by the Giants. I would also release Jamar Taylor and Brandon Williams—-re-sign Tim Scott and have him and Deatrick Nichols compete for playing time at the backup CB and nickel spots. Do NOT cut Nichols again. We need to add depth at FS too. I think it would be good to see Zeke Turner and Dennis Gardeck get some reps in the defense, as they are two of the more physical tacklers on the team. This defense needs bangers. The other change I would like to see is playing WR Trent Sherfield. Reduce J.J. Nelson’s snaps and use Sherfield on crossing and corner routes—-which he ran superbly during the pre-season. That, and incorporate T.J. Logan’sspeed into thesituational play calls—-and insert him once and for all as the team’s kickoff returner.Just one fan’s thoughts. Shilique Calhoun clears waivers Oakland Raiders Womens T-Shirt , signed back to Raiders practice squad Shilique Calhoun is back with the Oakland Raiders, though on the practice squad and not the active roster. The former third round pick for the Silver and Black back in 2016 was cut after Monday night’s Rams game, but since then he cleared waivers and has officially signedback onto the Raiders practice squad. It was a little bit of a surprising move to cut Calhoun so quick into the season after he finally showed some progress with a very good preseason. Injuries on the inside of the defensive line hit the Raiders though and they had to make some corresponding moves in order to sign DT’s Johnathan Hankins and Clinton McDonald. No other teams decided to take the chance on Shilique Calhoun though which paved the way for him to re-sign with the Raiders for their practice squad. Though not many of the fans seemed too upset to see him go, it still seems like a good move to keep him available should the Raiders need him again some time this year. This isn’t the first time Calhoun has needed to work his way back to the roster, he also was waived and placed on the practice squad last season. It’s not what you’d like to see from a 3rd round investment but at least there is still a chance that he can become a productive player for the Raiders. BustersJon GrudenThere were a lot of bad performances in this game. So many that it would have been impossible to pin the bulk of the blame on the players. This team is lost. That falls on the head coach. Every single facet of this team is utterly incompetent. These guys are beaten down mentally and physically with still eight games left and nothing but pride to play for. This is the kind of performance you get with a team that has no direction and inspiration. Brandon Parker, Gabe JacksonThe left side of the line was a tire fire with Kolton Miller injuring himself on the first drive, replaced by Ian Silberman, who was working as the reserve center just last week, then Miller trying to play through it (unsuccessfully), then left guard Kelechi Osemele moving over to play tackle. While all this was going on, the Raiders at least needed the right side to be solid. And yet somehow they may have actually been even worse. The line gave up six sacks in this game. Five of those came from the right side of the line. Parker got the ugly day started by being called for three penalties in the first quarter. On the first drive alone, he was flagged for a false start and a holding which ultimately stalled the drive and the Raiders settled for a field goal. The second possession, he and Gabe Jackson tried a double team and were both beat for the sack. The next drive Ian Silberman came out at right tackle and Miller came back at left tackle to try and give it a go. And Silberman gave up a sack too, so the next drive, Parker was back in the game. The next drive, Gabe Jackson and Miller were both beaten to sandwich Carr for the sack.Late in the third quarter Oakland Raiders Hats , the game was out of hand at 31-3, but Carr was still in the game. Parker gave up a pressure and Carr stepped up to elude it only to have Jackson give up the sack. Carr was replaced by AJ McCarron in the fourth quarter, but he wasn’t immune to being sacked. Parker got McCarron sacked for the seventh of the game by the 49ers. In case you’re curious, the Raiders have 7 sacks鈥?on the season.Tahir Whitehead, Reggie Nelson, Marcus Gilchrist, Erik HarrisI don’t even know where to go with these guys. As Gruden pointed out Friday, the 49ers gained 240 of their yards on six plays. All of these guys in some combination were responsible for those huge plays. The first play for the 49ers offense, neither Whitehead nor Gilchrist got over to cover Marquis Goodwin so Nick Mullens threw to him and he picked up an easy 11 yards. Two plays later, Whitehead was blocked on a 14-yard run. Three plays after that, Pierre Garcon came across the formation from left to right and Reggie Nelson bit so hard on the fake, that Garcon was completely wide open for a simple 24-yard pitch and catch touchdown. That’s how Mullens started his CAREER going 3 for 3 for 41 yards and a TD.The following drive, the 49ers would drive right back down the field. they were at the 12-yard-line where Gilchrist gave up an 8-yard catch and a 4-yard touchdown catch. At that point, Mullens was 9 of 10 for 103 yards and 2 TD’s. Raiders: The cure for what ails you. Before the half, the 49ers went on one more drive. Whitehead was out of position on a 6-yard run to start it off. Two plays later, Richie James got a step on Leon Hall inside and what should have been a 10-15-yard catch turned into a 53-yard catch because Nelson bit outside instead. That set the 49ers up at the 23-yard-line and they added a field goal to take a 17-3 lead at the half.Whitehead had four tackles for loss in the game. Which makes it all the more disappointing that he was beaten on the George Kittle 71-yard catch which set up the 49ers’ third touchdown of the game. That put them up 24-3 early in the third and basically was all she wrote. Erik Harris could have stopped that Kittle catch. He could even have knocked the ball down. He was coming in quick as Kittle was reaching to make the one-handed grab Oakland Raiders Womens Hoodie , but somehow not only did he not disrupt the catch, but he didn’t make the stop either. The 49ers would have one more touchdown in the game. It was on their next possession when Raheem Mostert took the handoff out right. The team looked like their heart wasn’t into it by that point, but Gruden insisted it was two men in the same gap. The culprit in this case was Harris, who should have gone outside but instead was in the same gap as Whitehead. Mostert went outside and no one was there. Whitehead didn’t get there in time and Gilchrist was being blocked down the field by right tackle Mike McGlinchey all the way to the end zone. And that’s why I couldn’t separate these guys.Paul GuentherWhat Guenther is not doing is screwing up a talented roster. He was given scraps and asked to make a feast out of it. But what is also not doing is taking those scraps and making anything even edible. Even that may be asking a bit much with this roster, but that’s part of his job. And right now, he is not utilizing his roster to the best of their limited abilities. Bruce Irvin is their best pass rusher and he saw nine snaps against the 49ers. He’s seen a total of 33 snaps the past two weeks. The result is zero sacks and 3 QB hits. Two of those hits came from DB’s on a blitz. You get no pressure, you have no chance. Irvin isn’t great, but there’s no question he’s the best pass rusher on the team. The result is wasting a somewhat talented group of corners. His use of safeties is also puzzling. He is of the mind that there is no hard fast free safety and strong safety. That you can swap them out and rotate guys at will. The result has been complete confusion among the safeties and opposing offenses taking advantage of mismatches when they spot them. And they have seen a LOT of them. Saying the defense has been good except for a few plays doesn’t sound any better. He basically has a break but don’t bend defense right now. They make a couple stops and then have monumental collapses. And for the love of God, play the young guys. Get Nick Nelson in the slot and Erik Harris and Karl Joseph at safety. See what you have in them. They can’t make things worse than we’ve seen them already.Johnny TownsendOn six punts in this game, Townsend averaged 37.5 per punt with a net of 36.5. Among those he had a 40-yard punt with a 34-yard net and a 23-yard punt (that’s right, 23 yards) and a 36-yard punt. That 23-yard punt actually gives him a new season low after punts of 25, 27, and 28 in the previous two weeks. His average for the season is now 41.9 yards per punt, which sits at 33rd in the league and is the worst average of any punter with at least 12 punts this season. Good news? He had two punts inside the 20 (one was actually right at the 20) to bring his season total to 6 punts inside the 20 which is 29th in the league.See the Baller

Raiders rookie tackle Kolton Miller has toughest matchup of season vs Myles Garrett in huge game vs Browns Before he traded edge-rusher Khalil Mack , Jon Gruden’s most criticized personnel move was trading down from No. 10 overall to No. 15 and to take left tackle Kolton Miller. Many didn’t like the idea of the Raiders allowing the Arizona Cardinals to pick potential franchise quarterback Josh Rosen and only getting a 3rd-round pick for switching with them, but if Miller becomes the franchise left tackle Gruden hopes he will be, all will be forgotten. Miller has been tested the past couple weeks having faced No. 5 overall Bradley Chubb in Denver and Robert Quinn in Miami. This week, the tests keep coming as he gets 2017 No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett. “They’ve all been good. He is another one of them in a long line throughout the season,” Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said of facing Garrett. “Every team it seems like has one of those premier pass rushers. He’s a younger player right now in this league that’s emerging. Certainly, we will have our hands full, but he’s a very solid pass rusher.”This test comes in a big game the Oakland Raiders have to win against the Browns. Only three teams in the NFL since the merger have made the playoffs after starting 0-3 so the odds are already against the Raiders going to the playoffs this season. If they lose to the Cleveland Browns and go 0-4, those odds drop even more as only one team has overcome an 0-4 start to make the playoffs. The league-wide perception of the team would be that of a team going through a lost season if the Raiders lose to the 24-year rebuilding Browns too. To avoid that, the Raiders have to protect quarterback Derek Carr like their lives depend on it. According to Pro Football Focus Oakland Raiders T-Shirt , Carr is 11-for-24 for 181 yards with no touchdowns, four interceptions and a QB rating of 32.1 while under pressure. Garrett is tied for the NFL lead in sacks right now with four so it looks like a daunting task for Miller. But he’s tied for No. 42 in in pressures with seven so he doesn’t get to the QB all that often, especially for a guy tied for the league-lead in sacks. He just makes sure he finishes when he does as pass-rush productivity score of 5.3 ranks him No. 84 among edge-rushers.Miller on the other hand, has yet to allow Carr to be hit or sacked so far this season while allowing just four pressures. When you look at the players he’s faced just four games into the season, you have to say that’s pretty good for a rookie left tackle. At 6’4”, 275 pounds with 35 1/4-inch long arms, Garrett presents the best combination of size, speed, power Oakland Raiders Hats , and length Miller will face this year. The speed isn’t likely to be a problem as he gets into his kick-slide quickly as he kept Von Miller at bay. But Kolton Miller has been know to have trouble with strength and length, two things Garrett has. All eyes will be on the 1st-round rookie, especially those looking at Gruden’s personnel moves. It just so happens that the Raiders will only do well if Carr isn’t pressured too much too. Miller has himself quite a matchup with plenty riding on him in the biggest game of the season.Panthers do what Raiders (and probably a lot of other teams) should have done; sign Eric Reid It’s not often you see a perfectly healthy former Pro Bowl safety in his prime just hanging around waiting to be signed. And yet, through three games this season, that’s just what Eric Reid was doing. Until today when the Panthers finally made the move that about 31 other teams should have made months ago. They signed Eric Reid to bolster their football team.At just 26-years-of age, the former 49ers top pick (18 overall) and career starter was coming off a career year, according to Pro Football Focus. A lot of teams could use a talent like that at the safety spot. The Raiders would be near the top of that list. His performance last season would easily outdo what the Raiders have at safety between 35-year-old Reggie Nelson, journeyman Marcus Gilchrist, underperforming (and now injured) Karl Joseph Oakland Raiders Hoodie , and former special teams player Erik Harris. But despite fielding one of the most suspect groups of safeties in the league, the Raiders, like every other NFL team, ignored Reid. Why? Well, because he dared kneel next to Colin Kaepernick during the National Anthem in protest of police butality and racial profiling in the justice system.Reid is a damn good safety and the Raiders and the rest of the NFL’s loss is the Panthers’ gain.Follow @LeviDamien

‘Heartbeat of this team’ Khalil Mack contract holdout has been ‘grueling’ for Raiders We are officially exactly two weeks until the Raiders open the 2018 NFL season. And still no Khalil Mack. What once seemed like no big deal and no reason to panic has started to get a little more stressful. The Raiders coaches don’t absolutely need Mack to participate in the offseason program or minicamp or training camp or even the preseason. Hell Youth Reggie Nelson Jersey , Derek Carr has taken 13 snaps this preseason, so how much of a difference would having Khalil Mack make? Gruden thinks it would make a big difference.“His playmaking, his leadership, his presence,” Gruden says of what Mack brings to the team dynamic. “Great players like Mack have all those things going for them. They make people around them better. And they make offenses account for you. If you’re going to account for Khalil Mack, you probably got to double team the guy. Someone else is not going to have to deal with that. There’s a lot of things that a great player brings to your football team. Hopefully that’s sometime soon.”Yeah, sometime soon would be kind of a must at this point. And Gruden is not going to predict Mack will make it in time to start the season.“I don’t want to put any timetable on it,” Gruden continued. “This has obviously been a long process that’s been grueling for both parties, the fans, and me personally. We’re just hoping we can get him in here.”This is the second year in a row the Raiders have gone through this with one of their players. Donald Penn held out of camp and preseason looking for a new contract. He ended up returning to the team just prior to the start of the season despite not having a deal in place. And he eventually got the deal he was looking for. So, as you might expect , he doesn’t think having Mack here this offseason is a big deal.“It doesn’t impact us at all. It’s the next guy up. It’s part of the business game,” Penn said of Mack’s absence. “Every guy in that locker room — I know how it is, I’ve been through it three times already in my career —those guy know how the business side of this. They know as a professional athlete, when you’re not here, you have to take care of yourself and I know Khalil’s out there working his butt off just like I was when I was holding out.”In fact, Penn thinks Mack’s absence has actually been a good thing.“We want him here, but I don’t think it’s affecting us, I think it’s helping us,” said Penn. “We know what Khalil can do, everybody knows what Khalil can do. Now we got guys like [Arden] Key and all these guys getting reps out there. We got Fadol [Brown] who’s coming out here just balling, he’s having a great camp. My hat’s off to him and Key Seth Roberts Jersey , they’re both having a great camp. Give these guys reps, give these guys time to grow. It kind of helped when I was hurting this offseason because Kolton [Miller] has been able to get all those reps and been able to grow and get better and help us as a team when Khalil does get here and we go full force.”Penn said he spoke to Mack prior to the team’s second preseason game against the Rams, and he said Mack was “In good spirits”. But if the next time the Raider face the Rams in the season opener, Mack isn’t back in uniform, there won’t be any cause for good spirits then. When the games start counting, this team absolutely cannot be without its best player. At least Penn understands that.“I hope and a pray it gets done real fast because he and Derek are the heartbeat of this team,” Penn added. He speaks for an entire organization and fan base with that statement.Follow @LeviDamienRaiders Week 3 NFL Power Rankings round-up: Oakland’s lack of killer instinct drops them further in rankings After the Raiders again lost the lead in the 4th quarter it has become clear that their lack of a killer instinct is the reason for their dropping for a 3rd week in a row in the power rankings.NFL.com30thLast Week 28Houston Chronicle31stLast Week 29thYahoo!30thLast Week 27thNBC Sports30thLast Week 27Sporting News31stLast Week 30NJ.com31stLast Week 29USA Today28thLast Week 28SB Nation30thLast Week 26ESPN31stLast Week 27Bleacher Report31stLast Week 30thWashington Post31stLast Week 29thCBS Sports30thLast Week 26thAverage Ranking: 30.33Last Week 28.08The Oakland Raiders are consistently being ranked as a bottom 3 team in all of the NFL with only one outlet (USA Today-28th) still giving them a higher than 30th ranking. That makes perfect sense with them being one of only 3 teams to yet win a game in 2018. They have a game against the Cleveland Browns coming up (1-1-1) with rookie Baker Mayfield starting his first game so they have an opportunity to get a much needed win. However, Mayfield looked good leading the Browns to their first victory in well over a year against the Jets last week so maybe it isn’t beneficial to the Raiders that he is starting against them in Week 4.Even a win against the Browns might not elevate the Raiders that far, but a loss will likely lower them across the board to being the 32nd ranked team. The good news is it can’t get any worse in the power rankings after that, the bad news is because that would be the worst it could get in a 32 team league.

Falcons vs. Saints: Takeaways and irrational reactions to the loss DWAhem.Alcohol Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , my only friend.Alcohol, there to the end. My family, my friends, they’ve left me again.Alcohol, alcohol, my only friend.Dave ChoateInjuries may very well cost the Falcons this season, but we’re not dead yet. I still believe the Falcons are talented enough to make the best of the rough hand they’ve been dealt, injury-wise, through the first three weeks of the season. It’s just getting harder and harder every week to thread that needle, what with the increasing number of ailments and the defense’s alarming decline minus their best players. What is clear is that the Falcons are going to have to lean heavily on their offense the rest of the way, and they’re going to need something mighty and heroic and heretofore unseen from what’s left of the defense to make it work. But they’re not dead yet. Kendall JacksonPLEASEStop pissing away Matt Ryan’s awesome performances.Cory Woodroof Atlanta will have to, once more Atlanta Falcons Hats , rely on high-power offense to win games. It’s almost kind of comical to think that, after 2017, Atlanta would once again have to resort to the good-old days of explosive offensive performances to win ball games because of a lagging defense. This time, it’s of no fault of the organization, of course. Injuries have ravaged a once-promising unit, and only a Hail Mary trade for FS Earl Thomas, the addition of a stalwart pass rusher via trade and the swift return of Deion Jones will stabilize the on-field output. You’re not even guaranteed one of those right now. If the offense ever falters, this team does not have the personnel to take down the league’s best teams. Even on a day where they score 37 points, the defense still let a loss slip through its fingers. It’s fair to be pessimistic for this team’s postseason outlook. Quite frankly, it might be wise. But stranger things have happened, and Atlanta is still, believe it or not Atlanta Falcons Hoodie , in a position to contend for a playoff spot if this offense keeps playing like this and if the defense can rally just enough to be mediocre. The schedule gets a bit easier after Pittsburg, too. Though, no game in the NFL is a given, nor is a season. 2018 has been unexpected in a myriad of ways. One wonders what other surprises await for the year.Carter Breazeale The offense will have to bail out the defense -- constantly. To echo Cory, this season now falls squarely onto the shoulders of the offense. I was optimistic that with the talented personnel that the Falcons possessed, the defense could blossom into a top-five unit in the league. Injuries have laid waste to that prediction, and the best we can aim for is a defensive unit that keeps games within reach. Matt Ryan and Steve Sarkisian seem to have finally developed a cohesion on offense, and there’s no better timing because if the Falcons want to remain competitive they’re going to have to score loads of points. TorgoYou can’t win if you can’t even walk. The 2016 team lost quite a few players to injury over the course of the season. But this team already has four starters - including two of last year’s Pro Bowlers - on injured reserve. I really do think the approach to preseason was a factor, in that the players didn’t have enough actual game reps to ramp up to full game endurance by the opener against the Eagles. As for this game, I first got the sinking feeling very early, when the Falcons threw a bomb and the officials missed an easy interference call. And when Will Lutz hit the upright but still got the three points, that told me that somehow Cheap Customized Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , some way, this would not be our day.So the Falcons are now 1-1 in the critical division games. It’s not over yet, as the offense is looking better every week. Also, every team plays four games against division winners from the prior season, and we already have two of those games out of the way. The defense needs to find some answers, but at least we have a pretty good defensive coaching staff in place to make that happen. So the season is far from over, but the team can’t withstand many more injuries on defense. Penalties for violations of the league’s new rules governing the use of the helmet dropped in the last two weeks of the preseason after the NFL clarified that inadvertent contact should not result in a flag. That trend continued in Thursday night’s opener. Officials were not at all shy about calling penalties as there were 26 accepted penalties and two calls that offset, but none of them were for a player lowering his helmet to initiate contact. It’s one game and the 15 to come on Sunday and Monday might bring a different result, but the change made in August may have alleviated some of the concern about how much the game would change because of the rule change. While the new helmet rule did not come up, a new part of the roughing the passer rule did get called. Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett was flagged for landing his body weight on Nick Foles after Foles delivered a pass in the first half.

Late in summer 2016 Womens Robert Alford Jersey , Joel Embiid was fuming. According to ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz, Embiid was stomping around the Sixers’ old practice facility, at one point chucking a basketball across the hardwood. He had a workout scheduled with a marquee college big man prospect, but it got cancelled at the last minute. Instead, he had to face off against a 37-year old Elton Brand who was on the last legs of his NBA career.”The night before, I’d been watching Shaq’s highlights, and I wanted the competition,” Embiid told Arnovitz. “I needed someone to go back at me.”It sounds like he needed a competitor like Jimmy Butler, but Butler was 750 miles away at the Chicago Bulls’ practice facility, busy exchanging profanities with Rajon Rondo over who got to defend Isaiah Canaan, the hottest scorer on the opposing scrimmage team. Everything you need to know about the Jimmy Butler dramaJimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota. This is how we got here.Winners and Losers from the 76ers-Wolves blockbusterJimmy Butler’s ‘vociferous’ return to Timberwolves practice, explainedThe 7 most savage moments from Jimmy Butler’s interview with Rachel NicholsThe Timberwolves let the Jimmy Butler mess happenJimmy Butler was ruining the Timberwolves’ season, and maybe their futureInside the state of the 76ers before the Jimmy Butler tradeTwo years since then, the number of people on the business end of a Butler profanity-laced rant has gone up, ranging from teammates in Chicago and Minnesota — who he chastised in private and in front of cameras — to the Wolves’ front office. When he first returned to practice after demanding a trade from Minnesota, Butler challenged Karl-Anthony Towns to post him up, schooled the starters, and turned to GM Scott Layden. “You fucking need me!” he screamed. “You can’t win without me!” Meanwhile, Embiid got paired with Ben Simmons, who sat out a season due to injury and then won Rookie of the Year. In 2017, the 76ers drafted Markelle Fultz at No. 1 by trading the No. 3 pick — who became superstar-in-waiting Jayson Tatum — to Boston, in hopes of rounding out a homegrown Big Three. A shoulder injury held Fultz out most of his rookie year and infamously prompted the destruction of his once-perfect jumper. Sam Hinkie, who led the Sixers into the Process era, was forced out, and Bryan Colangelo was ushered in. At least three burner Twitter accounts Womens Ryan Schraeder Jersey , an internal investigation, and an exhausting search for a replacement later, Colangelo was fired and Brand, now a front-office executive, was promoted to the big job.Butler and the 76ers both had to take their hits. On Saturday, they merged out of necessity. The Sixers traded Jerryd Bayless, a second-round pick, and two Process babies who had been handpicked by Hinkie — Robert Covington and Dario Saric — to the Timberwolves for Butler and sophomore Justin Patton. Despite their meticulous planning, the multiple draft picks, and reserved cap space, the Sixers still needed a third star, so they took a gamble on the 29-year-old Butler, who is a free agent at the end of the year. They didn’t trade for him to put the sputtering Process era to an end, but to refuel it. Built unconventionally around a 7-foot shooter in Embiid and two point guards who can’t shoot in Simmons and Fultz, the 76ers are prone to bouts of offensive malaise, compounded by envelope-pushing plays that too often end in multiple turnovers. They needed Butler, a nightly 20-point scorer and stabilizing on-court force. And Butler, whose reputation for being old school has teetered into infamy over the past few months, needs a team like the 76ers — modern and analytics-obsessed, but also defensively inclined — to drag him into a version of the 21st century that aligns with his values.Butler was consistently at odds with Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the young pillars of Minnesota’s rebuild. That’s why it came as a surprise when Embiid told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon he discussed his new potential teammate with them and “they thought we were definitely going to get along.” It makes more sense if you separate personality from persona. The kid from Tomball, Texas — who used to strut around Chicago in cowboy boots, blast Garth Brooks from the locker room, stan Taylor Swift, and imitate wrestling moves on his teammates — is more famous for his 5 a.m. workouts , locker room tirades, and throwback attitude. Meanwhile, Embiid, the NBA’s best tweeter and troll, is known as the class clown. But it’s easy to forget how serious Embiid is and how funny Butler can be. At their core, they’re both hard-boiled workers with a nose for mischief. There’s a reason why Butler is arguably the NBA’s most meme-worthy star, and why Embiid relishes roasting big men on the floor as much as he does online. Their jokes don’t offset their intensity. Instead, the jokes are an extension of that competitiveness. After getting blown out by the Raptors on the eve of Halloween, Embiid stewed in his own frustration. The Sixers’ new switch-happy defensive scheme was out of sorts. “I’m the guy behind, so if I call something, my teammates gotta respect it and they gotta honor it,” he told me that night. “We have a lot of communication problems. That’s the key to a great defense.”Later, he added, “I gotta communicate better. If our defense is not good, I feel like I’m not doing a great job so I gotta do a better job. I don’t ever allow someone to give up 129 points. That’s bad. I’m pissed about it.”The message was not dissimilar to what Butler has tried to get across in Minnesota: stern, public, focused on effort, disappointed in the gulf between who they are and who they could be. But Embiid has a less explosive (read: less profane) way of communicating, and he put himself on the list of people who needed to be held accountable. And unlike Minnesota, where Butler was supposed to imbue work ethic by osmosis to a franchise that hadn’t made the playoffs in more than a decade, Embiid isn’t alone.Bill Streicher-USA TODAY SportsWhen 76ers head coach Brett Brown took over in 2013, he deliberately hung posters all over the walls of the practice facility that read, “Philly hard, Philly real, Philly edge.” The goal was to constantly remind the team what it meant to be a 76er , evoking memories of Allen Iverson stepping over Tyronn Lue in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, or Charles Barkley crashing against floorboards for loose balls. A few days prior to the Raptors game, after the 76ers dropped back-to-back road contests against the Bucks and Pistons, the coaching staff convened with the players, hoping to remind them who they were supposed to be. “They didn’t call out anyone as a person but they called us out as a team,” T.J. McConnell told me. “We all took it personal and decided it’s not good enough and that we need to be better.” In Butler, Embiid now has an aid and kindred spirit: a dogged, prideful defender who will call out perimeter switches and funnel opponents into his towering 7-foot frame. A core of Simmons, Butler, and Embiid could wreak havoc defensively for years. But Butler will have to adjust to Philly’s culture. Simmons and Embiid are not Towns and Wiggins, but they’re still young players: prone to inconsistency and still figuring out who they are on the court. When things momentarily go off the rails, Butler will have to be patient and measured, especially if Fultz — whose road to reclaiming his potential, let alone tapping into it, looks long — sticks around. And if Butler chides, he must do it behind closed doors. The microphone never helps him. Butler is a rare combination: an open book, easy to read, but hard to manipulate. His intensity does not flood onto the court and blur his decision-making ability. Instead, it is defined by Butler’s need to assuage his anxieties. When something is wrong, his first impulse has always been to consider what more he can do. More from Seerat SohiThe scripted chaos of Stephen CurryLeBron James knows that winning big will erase any early strugglesDanny Green is the key to making the Kawhi Leonard trade workAnthony Davis is leading a big man training revolutionOperation Keep Kawhi is already workingButler’s instincts turned him from a near-homeless 13-year-old to a JuCo standout to a first-round draft pick to an NBA All-Star, so you can see why he hangs onto them. But in the fragile ecosystem of a locker room, Butler’s aggression rarely translates positively to others. He has always known that, even if he hasn’t been able to help himself. When I profiled him at the 2016 All-Star game in February, he joked he had to stop telling the truth (i.e. criticizing his teammates) in the media, because it always got him in trouble. He led the NBA in minutes at the time Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , and he liked presenting himself as an archaic heel, the foil to a league charging in the direction of rest and injury prevention. That didn’t lend much credibility to his insistence that he was sitting out games in Minnesota because his body needed it.But even back then, he admitted his own intensity wasn’t healthy. “I say that I don’t wanna sit down, I wanna play all those minutes, but I really be tired of playing like I’m Superman or something” Butler told me then. “They hit me with Kryptonite, then I hurt my knee.” He hurt his knee again last year, tearing his meniscus and missing almost two months. Butler’s mentality may run in opposition to the way analytics have transformed the game, but he isn’t ignorant to their benefits. The question is whether he can lean into those moments of rationality. The Sixers, a numbers-obsessed franchise that wants to hang their hats on being tougher, longer, and grittier than their opponents, could provide the happy medium that allows his aggression to thrive and his joints to heal. At the very least, they’ll field one of the most intense locker rooms in the league. Butler’s favorite pop star put it best: It’s gonna be forever, or it’s gonna go down in flames. This week in recruiting is a collection of thoughts and things of interest from me as a recruiting expert that either didn’t rise to the level of being their own story, or for which I did not have time to make into a story this week.Of interestThis week was notable for the commitments of two elite running backs. John Emery Jr., of Destrehan (La.), committed to LSU. He is a bona fide 5-star recruit. Emery was at one point committed to Georgia, but decommitted shortly after LSU beat Georgia by three scores in October. LSU now has commitments from the vast majority of the best players in the state. In turn, Georgia gained a commitment from Kenny McIntosh, of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) University School. McIntosh is the brother of former Miami DT R.J. McIntosh (2014-17 at The U). And in addition to being a good runner, he is a legitimate threat in the passing game. Miami isn’t sure where it will turn.Other CommitmentsArkansas added a commitment from four-star New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr defensive back Devin Bush. DecommitmentsNo big ones this week. QuicklyMichigan has a big group of visitors in town. Some Ohio State players received recruiting ranking bumps. Here’s a look at what Tennessee is doing on the recruiting trail. Our Alabama site gives its recruiting predictions. Etc.Here are my top bets of the week. It’s been a very strong season for my gambling column.

Falcons snap counts for the win against the Panthers This week’s snap counts don’t reveal any deep , earth-shaking insights into how the Falcons performed or their future plans for players, but there are still some key takeaways to share. Let’s get to it. OffenseJake Matthews: 63Alex Mack: 63Brandon Fusco: 63Ryan Schraeder: 63Matt Ryan: 62Austin Hooper: 53Wes Schweitzer: 51Mohamed Sanu: 48Julio Jones: 48Tevin Coleman: 41Calvin Ridley: 35Logan Paulsen: 29Ito Smith: 18Justin Hardy: 14Ricky Ortiz: 12Andy Levitre: 12Marvin Hall: 9Eric Saubert: 8Matt Schaub: 1The big note here is that Wes Schweitzer essentially played all but a dozen snaps at left guard and did a great job of it. Throughout his young career, we’ve heard analysts say that he should be a right guard, and that may very well be where he settles. If Levitre has to miss time and he keeps playing like this in relief, though, it may be that he’ll be pushing for Levitre’s likely-vacated job a year from now. Baby steps, though. As expected, Tevin Coleman dominated snaps, playing about two-thirds of them against roughly a third for Ito Smith. Brian Hill didn’t get a snap on offense, and if Smith looks this good on a weekly basis, that isn’t going to change. Also noteworthy was that Logan Paulsen got so many snaps, especially compared to Eric Saubert. The Falcons wanted to run and Paulsen’s a capable blocker, so that addition made a ton of sense. I think the results speak for themselves.Marvin Hall showed his value to this offense on his very limited snaps, pulling down a nice 30 yard reception. Hall’s never going to be a major factor on offense, but his deep speed and solid hands make him a situationally useful player, and the Falcons will find ways to use him. Matt Schaub should not get another snap for the rest of the year, please and thank you. DefenseRobert Alford: 67Desmond Trufant: 67Ricardo Allen: 67De’Vondre Campbell: 67Brian Poole: 59Duke Riley: 58Grady Jarrett: 55Jordan Richards: 53Vic Beasley: 53Terrell McClain: 37Takkarist McKinley: 36Brooks Reed: 32Deadrin Senat: 25Jack Crawford: 23Foye Oluokun: 15Damontae Kazee: 14Derrick Shelby: 6Blidi Wreh-Wilson: 2Keith Tandy: 1It sounds like Damontae Kazee might not be suspended, in which case Jordan Richards’ snap count a week from now ought to be a lot lower. The Falcons had to like some of what they saw from him in run support, but he was an expected liability in coverage, and both Kazee and Keith Tandy (who saw just one snap) are probably better bets in that regard. The Falcons seem hellbent on finding a role for Richards, but I really don’t want to have this team relying on him to cover quality tight ends and make open field tackles until he’s more comfortable. It’s noteworthy that Takkarist McKinley played so little compared to Vic Beasley despite showing better results in his snaps. That would seem to lend credence to the idea that he’s either hurt, was having a conditioning issue, or somehow ran afoul of the coaching staff the way Duke Riley did before that final Panthers drive. Whatever the reason, I hope to see more snaps for Takk on a weekly basis, as he’s one of the team’s true impact defenders up front. You’ll likely see Foye Oluokun’s snap count go up this week. He filled in for Duke Riley on the game’s final drive, an ominous sign for the second-year linebacker, and is a player the Falcons seem keen to find a role for.Otherwise Black Terrell McClain Jersey , few surprises here. The Falcons are going to continue to lean heavily on their secondary and the always underrated De’Vondre Campbell as they weather the loss of Keanu Neal and Deion Jones. If they’re down Derrick Shelby, as well, you can expect Steven Means to be active next weekend. Special TeamsJustin Bethel: 22Kemal Ishmael: 19Eric Saubert: 18Marvin Hall: 18Keith Tandy: 18Corey Nelson: 18Foye Oluokun: 18Jordan Richards: 15Matt Bosher: 15Blidi Wreh-Wilson: 14Robert Alford: 10Logan Paulsen: 10Justin Hardy: 9Josh Harris: 9The Falcons wasted no time at all throwing Keith Tandy and Corey Nelson into the special teams fire. While the results were a little uneven against the Panthers, the Falcons have a strong core group to lean on, and somehow Robert Alford out-snaps every other player every week between defense and special teams. That dude is tough. It’s worth noting that the Falcons barely gave any special teams work to Duke Riley this week as he acclimated to a starting role, while Foye Oluokun got plenty of run for the second straight week. Otherwise, these are names you expect. When Florida State visits Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday night, the Fighting Irish will bust out green jerseys, something they’ve done periodically for decades. The color scheme ND chose was, uh, interesting: It might be a little surprising to consider a game against a 4-5 Florida State to be a special game worthy of special gear, but the Irish are treating it as a Senior Night reward for a team that’s 9-0. Plus, when you’re on course for a Playoff bid, any game is a big game. And FSU and Notre Dame have some deep championship history together. The exact debut for Notre Dame in green jerseys is unknown, but the Irish started wearing them on occasion in the 1920s. Former Irish coach Knute Rockne was first with the idea for his players to put on the shamrock-colored threads, mostly for contrasting purposes, school historians say: The Fighting Irish won that game against Navy, and the green jerseys worked against Navy the next year, 1928, too. The greens came out at various times under different coaches over the years, but not too regularly until Frank Leahy took over in 1942. 1947 Heisman winner Johnny Lujack wore a green jersey when he was on the cover of Life magazine. Leahy’s teams used the green jerseys more often than not during his tenure, and that continued through the Terry Brennan years, which ended in 1958. EbayThe next two coaches, Joe Kuharich and Hugh Devore, only used them sparingly, per the school. In the 1970s, Notre Dame started using the green jerseys to surprise USC.The school’s account of a 1977 game in South Bend: Dan Devine was the Irish’s coach at that point. He had Notre Dame wear green for 44 straight games at one point Black Brandon Fusco Jersey , up to his last game in 1980. Devine’s Irish were 32-9-1 in green. In 1985, Notre Dame pulled a halftime switch, going from blue jerseys to green at halftime in a game against USC.The Irish were already up 27-0, but coach Gerry Faust had to keep his word: “The rule doesn’t specifically say you cannot do this,” Big 12 referee Mike Defee told SB Nation, years later, when asked whether a team these days could do this. “It says players shall wear colors of contrasting color.”Since the ‘80s, the green jerseys have settled in as just an occasional thing. They’re usually reserved for bigger games.“The 1992 Sugar Bowl against Florida sticks out quite a bit,” One Foot Down’s Joshua Vowles told me. “Jerome Bettis ran wild in the white version with green numbers. So dope. Rick Mirer and Bettis doing the Gator chomp is pretty much my favorite picture ever.” They wore them again for the ‘95 Fiesta Bowl, losing to Colorado 41-24. Bob Davie’s 1999 Gator Bowl team lost to Georgia Tech wearing them, and ND lost to Boston College in 2002 in them under Ty Willingham. Thanks to outcomes of certain games while wearing them, some ND fans have unpleasant memories of the jerseys. That BC game “was the classic example of when not to wear them,” OFD’s Vowles said of his most memorable green jersey game memories. “And ND lost. This is why Irish fans cringe at the thought of wearing the green.” More recently, Charlie Weis’ teams went 1-2 in green, losing twice to USC and beating Army: Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesOne of those USC losses was the “Bush Push” game, in which Reggie Bush literally pushed Matt Leinart into the end zone for the winning TD with seconds left: Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame teams are 3-0 in green jerseys. The last time was in 2015, when the Irish beat Boston College at Fenway Park, 19-6. The unis from that game were newer looking, and they look a bit similar to the ones ND will wear against the Noles. Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty ImagesThe green is a cool tradition that’s been part of ND’s history for years.Per The Glaze Page’s ND uniform history, ND has worn green jerseys at one point or another in 45 different years, dating back to the 1920s. “To me, the green jerseys are actually really cool and give the team a retro Joe Montana vibe,” lifelong ND fan Jessica Smetana of Sports Illustrated said. But the jersey color is secondary to the results. “I truly do not care, as long as they win.”

Last night’s prime-time game against the Lions was supposed to be the 2018 version of “on to Cincinnati.” And now the Patriots are on to Miami. For the second straight Sunday Detroit Lions Womens T-Shirt , the Patriots have lost by 10 or more points. It’s the first time the Patriots have had back-to-back losses of that magnitude since 2002.“I don’t really care anything about any other year, or any other team, or any other month or anything else,” coach Bill Belichick told reporters on Monday regarding the question of putting a loss behind him. “We’ve just got to take a look at the situation we’re in right now and figure out how to improve it. That’s what we’ll try to do.”They have their work cut out for them. The Dolphins come to Gillette Stadium on Sunday, looking for their first win there since the Wildcat game of 2008. A loss by the home team also would result in the first Patriots three-game losing streak since a 3-0 start in 2002 became 3-4.“I feel pretty sure that everybody that participated in the game — player or coach — feels like they could’ve done a better job,” Belichick said regarding Sunday night’s loss to the Lions and former New England defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. “I certainly feel that way. I know every member of the coaching staff feels that way. I talked to quite a few of the players after the game and they all feel that way, too. We just have to go back to work and find a way to all do a better job than that.”It may be much easier said that done. The Patriots simply don’t seem to have the talent that they need to compete with quality opponents Detroit Lions Hats , which means that scheme and effort and other things related to knowing what needs to be done won’t matter if they simply can’t physically do it.Tuesday open thread: Grade the Robert Ayers signing A month ago, the Detroit Lions added Ricky Jean Francois to the team just before they opened for training camp. At the time, the move was considered fairly minor. While the Lions certainly needed help at defensive tackle, Francois was a guy that has played for several different teams over the past few years, and was considered on the decline at 31 years old.But Francois has looked five years younger in camp. He quickly assumed a starting role with the team, and has been one of the best players throughout the preseason. Throw in his desire to teach Matt Patricia’s defensive scheme to his peers, and Francois has turned out to be one of the most important additions the team has made this offseason. But on Monday Detroit Lions Womens Hoodie , the Lions made another potentially big move. They added another veteran defensive lineman in Robert Ayers, and boy do they need the help. Having amassed just one sack in the preseason, it was abundantly clear that the Lions’ pass rush was in dire need of some change. So today’s Question of the Day is:What grade do you give the Robert Ayers signing? My answer: While it’s tough to give this addition a grade without knowing the exact contract terms—all we know is that it is a one-year deal per ESPN’s Adam Schefter—I’m going to give this move a B+ based on the talent of the soon-to-be 33 year old. Ayers’ statistics have been underwhelming for the past couple years. In his past 24 games, he only has 8.5 sacks. But by all means, those stats are fairly misleading. Ayers has been one of the most consistent pass rushers over the past two years, consistently helping the Buccaneers bring pressure from the edge. Just take it from Pro Football Focus’ Brett Whitefield:Admittedly, Ayers has had the benefit of playing alongside the likes of Gerald McCoy in Tampa and Jonathan Hankins and Jason Pierre Paul in New York—players much better than the teammates he’ll have in Detroit—but Ayers has proven he can bring the heat on his own Womens Customized Detroit Lions Jerseys , too.At this point in time, I’m not expecting Ayers to suddenly turn the Lions’ pass rush into a strength or anything that drastic, but it’s a clear upgrade of what the Lions had at defensive end, and that’s not very easy to come by at this point in the offseason. Your turn.

The New England Patriots travel to Buffalo for Monday night for a primetime showdown against the Buffalo Bills. Brady enters Monday night’s game with a 28-3 career record against the Bills according to Pro Football Reference Youth Darius Slay Jr Jersey , with a touchdown to interception ration of 68:22. The Patriots started the season 1-2, including a primetime pummeling at the hands of the Lions, but have since turned it around to enter this game at 5-2. They look to extend their hot streak and it shouldn’t be a challenge given the current situation of the Bills. The defense has been stellar under head coach Sean McDermott, but the offense continues to search for answers. Bills first-round pick Josh Allen has both struggled and dealt with injuries. In his absence Womens Michael Roberts Jersey , backup Nathan Peterman has been as incompetent as everyone assumed he was after his 5-interception first half in his lone start from last season. That has forced the team to resort to journeyman and longtime backup quarterback Derek Anderson, who looks to give the Bills offense some semblance of direction and leadership to salvage their season. Do the Bills have a chance? How many points will the Pats offense put up against a tough Bills defense? Will said defense be enough to keep Buffalo afloat? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.Jamal Agnew injury update: Detroit Lions preparing for long-term injury It appears the fears of a long-term injury to Detroit Lions punt returner Jamal Agnew were not hasty. On Tuesday, special teams coordinator Joe Marciano told reporters that the team was in the beginning stages of preparing a long-term replacement for Agnew as the team’s punt returner: Agnew was injured in the final quarter of Sunday’s game against the Packers when his knee bent awkwardly while tumbling towards the end zone. He was carted off after getting some help off the field. Former NFL doctor David J. Chao believes the video of the injury suggests he may have suffered a torn ACL, but the video Youth Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , he admits, is inconclusive. It’s interesting that Marciano suggests Agnew’s replacement will be an internal choice. The Lions could turn to Golden Tate on punt returns, as the veteran receiver has averaged 10.7 yards per return on 90 career punt returns. The Lions could also use Brandon Powell or Ameer Abdullah on returns. Abdullah was active for the first time this past Sunday and quickly assumed kick returning duties from Agnew. He has yet to log a punt return in his NFL career, however. You’d have to go back to his sophomore year at Nebraska to find his last punt return—way back in 2012. But the Lions won’t need to just replace Agnew on special teams. The All Pro punt returner was just starting to emerge as an option for the Lions’ nickel cornerback spot. Agnew played in at least 10 defensive snaps in all five games this year Womens Taylor Decker Jersey , including 44 against the Patriots. With injuries mounting up in the secondary—Teez Tabor left Sunday’s game, while Quandre Diggs played with a cast, and Tavon Wilson missed the game entirely—don’t be surprised to see the Lions make an addition to the back end of the roster.

BOSTON (AP) Bruins forward Brad Marchand has used the past few days since his team was eliminated in the second round in five games by the Tampa Bay Lightning to reflect on his role in the loss.Marchand drew national attention and a reprimand from the NHL after he was caught licking the face of Lightning forward Ryan Callahan during a confrontation in the Lightning’s 4-3 overtime Game 4 win that pushed the Bruins to the brink of elimination. For Marchand Adidas Adam Clendening Jersey , who scored 34 goals during the regular season and represented the Bruins at the All-Star Game, the licking incident added to his list of infractions. He has been suspended by the NHL six times and fined three. Now Marchand is thinking about cleaning up his act.”After having a couple days kind of looking back on the year and seeing what’s happened the last few days I guess, with all the media and everything, I think the biggest thing for me now is to really take a pretty hard look in the mirror and realize the actions, some of the things that I’m doing, have much bigger consequences,” Marchand said during the Bruins’ breakup day at the Warrior Ice Arena on Wednesday.”Especially the last thing I ever want to do is kind of bring the embarrassment on my teammates and the organization that it did. I have to be a lot better. I know I’ve said that in the past, but I think that that’s got to be the thing that I really work on the most.”I think I’ve gotten my game into a pretty decent spot, but I got some character things and things that I’ve done that clearly need some fixing.”The Bruins may not have to change much despite coming up short in their quest for their first Stanley Cup since 2011. They won 50 games for the 10th time in franchise history and finished second in the Eastern Conference, one point behind Tampa Bay.They went 14-0-4 from Dec. 16 to Jan. 25, which was their longest point streak since they went 18 games (13 wins Adidas Riley Nash Jersey , five ties) without a loss from Dec. 28, 1968 to Feb. 5, 1969 and tied for the second-longest point streak in team history. One year after losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Ottawa Senators, the Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in seven games in the first round and advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2014.They accomplished this while losing 304 regular-season man games to injury and integrating five rookies to the lineup.”We started with some injuries as you saw. … But then we got most of our guys back and we started playing with a full lineup and it showed on the ice. We were slowly and surely climbing the standings,” Bruins captain Zdeno Chara said.”We faced some challenges about three-fourths into season again with some injuries, still we had guys filling the gaps and the roles and we kept finding ways to win games. So that’s very positive about this team and resiliency and never-give-up attitude.”Many Bruins players were still coming to terms with being eliminated.Several others, including Patrice Bergeron (groin), David Backes (concussion), Torey Krug (fractured ankle) and Marchand (groin), were dealing with injuries as often happens with Cup contending teams this far into the playoffs. But to a man they were confident that there are better things ahead for the Bruins, who have seven unrestricted free agents among the 26 players that finished the season on their roster.”I think the thing that we’re excited about next year is we have a lot of the team returning Adidas Anthony Duclair Jersey , which is huge. It was a big learning experience for the young guys that came in,” Marchand said.”A lot of highs and lows so it should be a learning experience for them, and same with us (the veterans), we can always draw a lot from each and every year. … So hopefully we can all bring the benefits from this season into next year and be even better.”— BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Flames rookie goalie David Rittich cared little about missing out on his first career shutout bid with 18 seconds left. The first 25 shots he stopped mattered more – and Calgary snapping a four-game skid to gain ground in a tightly contested Western Conference playoff race with a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.”How we get the two points, that’s more important right now,” said Rittich, who bounced back after a six-game stretch during which he went 1-4-1 and allowed 24 goals.”Yeah, it’s big for me right now,” he added. ”I had a couple, I’m not sure if it was bad Adidas Martin Hanzal Jersey , but the scores were terrible. Yeah, it’s a nice comeback.”Rittich’s only blemish was allowing Casey Nelson’s goal in the closing moments.Otherwise, Sam Bennett, Mark Jankowski and Mark Giordano each had a goal and an assist, while Sean Monahan and Dougie Hamilton also scored for Calgary.Coming off a 4-3 overtime loss at Pittsburgh on Monday, the Flames improved to 1-3-1 in their past five. With 76 points, Calgary jumped into 10th place, a point ahead of idle St. Louis, and within one of Los Angeles and Colorado. The Flames won at Buffalo for just the second time in 14 trips (2-8-3 and a tie), and first time in regulation since a 3-1 win on March 15, 1996.The way Calgary dominated a game it outshot Buffalo 41-26 had coach Glen Gulutzan believing the Flames might be heating up just in time to mount a late-season playoff push.”You need traction Adidas Blake Comeau Jersey ,” he said.”Our team, when they get confident, they can get on a real good run.
